TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED DUE TO THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS OR START THE VEHICLE. IN ORDER TO ENTER THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HAD TO CLIMB THROUGH THE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED NEW IGNITION KEYS AND NEEDED TO HAVE ITS COMPUTER REPROGRAMMED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WERE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM ON THE INTERNET. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
MY SON WAS DRIVING MY 2004 HONDA ACCORD LE WHEN A THUNDERSTORM HIT. WHEN HE TURNED ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS THEY FAILED TO WORK. WIPER MOTOR FAILED.*TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED, JERKED, AND DECELERATED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SWITCH FROM SECOND TO FOURTH GEAR. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS PRIOR TO THE JERKING AND LOSS OF POWER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TRANSMISSION AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS A DISCOLORATION OF THE GEARS, WHICH CREATED FRICTION WITHIN THE COMPONENTS OF THE TRANSMISSION, THUS LEADING TO A HEAT BUILD UP. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $6,000. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
AIR BAGS: FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON SUDDENLY ON JULY 22, 2008. SUBSEQUENT EXAMINATION BY HONDA DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT REVEALED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE SPS WHICH WAS ATTACHED TO THE SEAT FRAME WAS BROKEN. DEALER DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY, AS HAD HONDA AMERICA, DESPITE THE FACT THAT A RECALL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM WAS ISSUED 1/2/2007 (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V001000). THEY CLAIM THAT MY CAR'S VIN # WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL WHICH MAKES ME RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SRS (AIR BAG) INDICATOR ILLUMINATED IN HER VEHICLE. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC, BUT COULD NOT PRODUCE AN ERROR CODE. THE DEALER THEN REPROGRAMMED THE SENSORS IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG AND THE INDICATOR DIMMED. RECENTLY, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SHE WAS INFORMED THAT HER VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V001000. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 61,950 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD SPORADICALLY ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. ON ONE OCCASION, THE LIGHT REMAINED ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES. THE DEALER STATED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V001000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE); THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 57,000.
BALL BEARING FELL OUT OF SEAT TRACK AT 50,000 MILES. THERE WAS NO TRAUMA TO THE CAR. THE SEAT NOW MOVES 1/4 TO 1/2 INCH UPON STARTING AND STOPPING. THE SAFETY CONCERN IS WHETHER THE SEAT IS MORE LIKELY TO BREAK FREE IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS OR IF THERE COULD BE A SPONTANEOUS FURTHER FAILURE OF THE SEAT. NEGOTIATIONS WITH HONDA FOR REPAIR ARE IN PROGRESS BUT HAVE BEEN UNSATISFACTORY. *TR

ALSO, THE WINDOWS MALFUNCTIONED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO OPEN OR CLOSE THE WINDOWS. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO REPLACE THE RADIO. A PRIVATE MECHANIC REPLACED THE RADIO AND TWO DAYS AFTER THE RADIO WAS REPLACED, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 207,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. WHEN SHE DROVE OVER 50 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING. THE TIRES WERE ROTATED AND ALIGNED; HOWEVER, THAT DIDN'T CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED IN RECALL 04V176000. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 130,000.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD HAS STAYED ON ALL OF THE TIME SINCE 2008. NOT SURE OF EXACT DATE. AIRBAG LIGHT GOES OFF ON OCCASION BUT MOST OF THE TIME THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON. I'VE NEVER GOT A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS ISSUE. I'VE CHECKED MY VIN WHEN THERE'S A RECALL ON AIRBAGS FOR MY YEAR 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX AND IT NEVER SHOWS THAT MY 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX HAS A RECALL ISSUE WITH AIRBAGS. MY AIRBAG COMES ON WHEN I START UP THE VEHICLE, SITTING STILL OR DRIVING ON THE ROADWAY. I'VE ALSO NOTICED THAT SOMETIMES WHEN I'M DRIVING THE SHOULDER SEAT BELT ON THE DRIVER SIDE WILL LOCK UP ON ME CONSTANTLY. I'M AFRAID THE SHOULDER BELTS GOING TO LOCK UP ON ME WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I'M BEING HELD TIGHT AGAINST THE SEAT BELT.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE PERFORMING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, THE MECHANIC SPOTTED DRIED UP ANTIFREEZE IN THE CORNER OF THE ENGINE, WHERE NO FLUID SHOULD BE LOCATED. HE ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A PINHOLE CRACK IN THE ENGINE THAT WAS ALLOWING ANTIFREEZE TO SLIP OUT. IT HAS NOT YET BEEN DETERMINED WHAT THE REPAIR WILL BE, BUT THE MANUFACTURER IS ALREADY REFUSING TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 32,000.
NHTSA# 10016310... 2004 HONDA ACCORD 2.4L COUPE. A WATER LEAK IN THE MIDDLE-FRONT DASH BOARD. THE LEAK HAD RUN INTO THE ECU OF MY CAR AND CAUSED MY CAR TO LOCK THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS LUCKY TO NOT BE TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND IN A POPULATED AREA. ANYTHING COULD HAVE HAPPENED WITH THE ECU SHORTING IN WATER. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY IN THE HONDA SHOP BEING TROUBLE SHOT FOR THE EXTENT OF ELECTRICAL DAMAGE. CAR WILL NOT START. *TR
WE GOT A 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX THROUGH ABC AUTO 6112 N.FLORIDA AVE TAMPA 33604 FLORIDA.TOOK TEST DRIVE CHECKED TRANS FLUID WHICH NEEDED TO BE CHANGED ,WE FIGURED IT WAS THE WAY THE CAR WAS BUILT,BUT WE ADVISED THE SALES MAN ,WHICH ADVISED US HE WOULD HAVE "THERE" SHOP COMPLETELY LOOK THE CAR OVER.WHICH NOTHING WAS FOUND. I HAD TRANS FLUID CHANGED IMMEDIATELY,APPROX 30 DAYS LATER CHECKED FLUID SMELLED BURNT AND AGAIN METAL SHAVING WERE PRESENT.AND CHANGE EVERY 3 MONTHS ,SO NO ISSUES WOULD ARISE.AFTER APPROX 11MONTHS WE RECEIVED A "RECALL NOTICE FOR THE POWER STEERING HOSE.WHICH WAS REPLACED.UPON THAT RECALL WE LOOKED INTO ALL RECALLS ON THE CAR TO INSURE SAFETY OF THE FAMILY.THE CAR SEEMED FINE THEN STARTED "STOPPING REAL FAST,AT ANY SPEED" TOOK TO HONDA DEALER THEY ADVISED US IT WOULD BE $5000 TO REPAIR.UPON INVESTIGATING MORE WE REALIZED THEIR WAS A RECALL ON THIS CAR FOR THE TRANSMISSION (#04V176000) ADVISED HONDA DEALER ,THEY STATED THE MILEAGE WAS WELL OVER 15,000 MI,AND A TRANS FLUID COOLER WAS ADDED TO SATISFY THE RECALL,BASED ON THE FACT THAT THE OWNER AT THAT TIME "DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE". THE CAR AT THIS TIME IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE,AND NOT DRIVING PROPERLY DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION. FACT IS HONDA SHOULD OF CHECKED AND REPLACED THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION.WHICH INSTEAD ONLY ADDED A TRANS COOLER.NOT WHAT THIS RECALL DEMANDED HONDA TO REPLACE AND OR REPAIR. *TR
ON MAY 14, 2008, I BROUGHT MY 2004 HONDA ACCORD EX TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER BECAUSE THE SRS (AIRBAG) INDICATOR CAME ON AND REMAINED ON DURING OPERATION. THE DEALER CHARGED ME $263 FOR REPLACING THE WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT. I BELIEVE THAT THE REPAIR SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AT NO CHARGE BECAUSE THERE IS AN OUTSTANDING NHTSA RECALL (07V001000) THAT SPECIFICALLY REFERS TO THE SRS INDICATOR AND PROBLEMS WITH THE WIRING HARNESS FOR 2004 HONDA ACCORD MODELS. MY SERVICE REP AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE VIN ON MY CAR DID NOT FALL IN THE VIN RANGE FOR THE RECALL, BUT THE DOCUMENTATION FOR NHTSA RECALL 07V001000 DOES NOT SPECIFY A RANGE OF VINS FOR 2004 MODELS, ONLY FOR 2005 MODELS. I AM ASKING THAT THE NHTSA CLARIFY AND/OR EXPAND THE VIN RANGE FOR 2004 HONDA ACCORDS TO INCLUDE MY VEHICLE AND THAT THE DEALER REIMBURSE ME FOR THE CHARGES I HAVE ALREADY PAID. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY HAD A CHIP THAT COULD RECOGNIZE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AS IF IT WERE BEING STOLEN. THE CHIP EMBEDDED IN THE KEY APPEARED TO BE DAMAGED AND STOPPED WORKING. THE CONTACT WAS LOCKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. SHE TOOK HER VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THAT WHEN THE CHIP AND INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS TURNED OFF, THAT INDICATED THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE KEY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,783 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT NOTICED FLUID LEAKING UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE AXLE SEAL. THE DEALER COULD NOT REPAIR THE SEAL BECAUSE THE LEAK WOULD CONTINUE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND WAS ADVISED TO OPEN UP A CASE WITH HONDA. HONDA ADVISED HIM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A HONDA DEALER TO CONFIRM THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY AGREED WITH THE DIAGNOSIS FROM THE PREVIOUS REPAIR SHOPS. HE WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE TRANSMISSION ON A FOUR YEAR OLD VEHICLE SHOULD NOT NEED REPLACING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,392 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,422.
MY AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON MY HONDA ACCORD FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS. I TOOK IT TO FRANK BROWN DEALERSHIP. THEY KEPT IT ALL DAY AND DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE LIGHT COMES ON CONTINUALLY. I AM TAKING IT BACK IN TOMORROW BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW IF AIR BAG WILL GO OFF. THEY CHARGE $75 DIAGNOSTIC FEE EVEN IF THEY DO NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM. *TR
TODAY 10-03-13 MY WIFE'S VEHICLE (2004 HONDA ACCORD EX V-6 NAVI) TRANSMISSION FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME. DURING THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS WE NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING FROM TIME TO TIME. THIS MORNING WE WERE GOING TO PERFORM A TRANSMISSION FLUSH AT A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. AS THE TRANSMISSION WENT FROM 2ND TO 3RD THE VEHICLE REVVED AS FAILED TO TRANSMIT POWER CAUSING A NEAR COLLISION. UPON PULLING OVER IN AN UNSAFE AREA AND PLACING THE CAR IN PARK THE VEHICLE'S SHIFTER COULD NOT BE PLACED IN GEAR. AFTER APPROX. 5 MINUTES THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE PLACED IN GEAR AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP. WHEN I ADVISED THE TRANSMISSION TECH OF THE PROBLEM, HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THE TRANSMISSION TECH SHOWED US HIS WORK BAY WHERE THERE WERE 3 HONDA'S AND 1 ACURA ALL WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. THE TRANS TECH SAID THAT THE 2003-2006 TRANSMISSIONS ON THE HONDA VEHICLE'S INCLUDING THE PILOT BRAND IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION FAILURES. THIS WAS THE FIRST HE'S HEARD WERE THE TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN REPLACED. TRANSMISSION REPLACED IN MAY 2008/77,000 MILES TRANSMISSION FAILURE OCTOBER 2013/150,000MILES UPON DOING RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE I DISCOVERED THAT WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE'S WITH THIS ISSUE AND HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. I CALLED HONDA JUST BEFORE THIS LETTER AND ADVISED THEM OF THIS ISSUE WHO STATED THAT THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY COMPLAINTS AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. NHTSA NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING AS THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE WHERE SOMEONE CAN BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED!!!!! *TR
MY 17-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER WAS ROUTINELY DRIVING TO SCHOOL ON A RURAL ROAD IN OUR 2004 HONDA ACCORD. SHE SAYS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED EVEN AS SHE APPLIED BRAKES, AND THAT SHE WAS UNABLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD. IT VEERED INTO A DITCH, OVER LARGE ROCKS PLACED TO PREVENT EROSION AND SWERVED SO THAT THE FRONT END WAS IN THE STREET AS THE REMAINING PORTION COULD NOT PULL OUT OF THE DITCH. THE AIRBAG ALSO DEPLOYED. *TR
ON SATURDAY 04/12/08 MY WIFE AND 12 MONTH BOY WERE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT , WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT FAILED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN. MY WIFE DID NOT HAVE TIME TO REALLY APPLY HER BRAKES AND HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE OTHER PERSONS VEHICLE. MY WIFE'S AIRBAGS IN OUR 04 HONDA ACCORD DID NOT DEPLOY. MY WIFE BROKE HER BONE IN HER LEFT HAND IN FOUR PLACES AND WE ARE WAITING TO SEE IF SHE WILL NEED BONE PINS TO RECTIFY HER INJURY. MY SON "THANK GOD" WAS UNINJURED. IF THEY CAN REPAIR OUR VEHICLE, WE FEEL THAT OUR VEHICLE WOULD BE UNSAFE TO OPERATE ON A DAILY BASIS DUE TO THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING IN THIS ACCIDENT. MY WIFE AND MYSELF ARE SELF EMPLOYED AND ARE NOW BOTH UNABLE TO WORK AT THIS TIME DUE TO HER INJURY AND THE DAILY CARE OF OUR 12 MONTH OLD BOY. *TR
MY 2004 HONDA ACCORD EXL GENERATED A SEAT POSITION SENSOR SRS CODE AT 85,000 MILES. SRS LIGHT WAS CONTINUOUSLY ON. I FOUND THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 07V001000 RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE ON THE 2004 ACCORDS, BUT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE HONDA DEALER WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR AS A RESULT, BUT WAS FULLY AWARE OF THIS "COMMON" ISSUE. THEY INDICATED I SHOULD NOT HAVE THE ISSUE AGAIN ONCE FIXED. I ALSO CONTACTED HONDA AND NOTIFIED THEM OF THE EXTREME SAFETY-RELATED ISSUE, BUT THEY REFUSED TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR. NOW 4 YEARS LATER AT 155,000 MILES, THE SRS LIGHT IS ONCE AGAIN ON AND THE CODE INDICATES THE SAME SEAT POSITION SENSOR ISSUE. I CONTACTED HONDA ONCE AGAIN AND RAISED THE ISSUE. I UNFORTUNATELY RECEIVED NO COMPENSATION OR UNDERSTANDING FOR THE REPAIR. I STRESSED THE FACT THAT THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY-RELATED PROBLEM AND HONDA SHOULD TAKE THE MATTER MORE SERIOUSLY. *TR

FAILURE OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS A DIRECT RESULT OF POOR CLUTCHES IN THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED CLUTCHES HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED WITH HEAVY METAL LINING AND DIFFERENT MATERIAL. IF THE CLUTCHES WERE OF THE NEW MATERIAL, IT WOULD NOT HAVE FAILED. *TR

HONDA CASE # N012008-04-1100-403 HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009 NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 04V176000 MY CAR A 2004 HONDA ACCORD 4 DOOR 4 CYLINDER. WHEN I AM DRIVE AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 25 MPH THE CAR TREMBLES/SHAKES MOMENTARILY AND THEN CONTINUES TO GAIN SPEED. AT 97K THE MECHANICS TRIED CHANGING THE ERG OR EKG VALVE. AT 99K THE MECHANIC CHANGED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTED HEAT SHIELD AND CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS. THE PROBLEM CONTINUE AT 101K THE MECHANIC NOW TELLS ME THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT I SHOULD THINK ABOUT REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THE WEAR OF THE GEARS CAN CAUSE A TOOTH TO CHIP OR GEAR BREAKAGE WHICH COULD RESULT IN THE GEAR FAILURE. THE GEAR FAILURE CAN RESULT IN A TRANSMISSION LOCKUP, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. ALTHOUGH IT WAS THE SAME SENSOR THAT WAS RECALLED BY HONDA, I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS VEHICLE BEING THE SAME MODEL AND SAME YEAR WAS NOT ON THE RECALL. *AK
