THE BRAKES ON MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD, PURCHASED AT "COURTESY PALM HARBOR HONDA" STARTED SQUEALING BADLY AT 19,000 MILES. I HAVE NOTICED FOR THE PAST THREE MONTHS THAT THE CAR SEEMED TO ACTUALLY SLOW DOWN MORE THAN NORMAL WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS -- AS IF THE BRAKES WERE NOT FULLY RELEASED. I'VE ALSO NOTICED REDUCED FUEL EFFICIENCY. ABOUT A WEEK AGO, THE BRAKES STARTED SQUEALING BADLY, AS IF THE PADS WERE FULLY WORN. I FIGURED THE PROBLEM COULDN'T BE THE BRAKE PADS AT 19K MILES, SO I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALER TODAY. TURNS OUT THE REAR BRAKE PADS ARE COMPLETELY WORN DOWN AND IT IS THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN'S OPINION THAT THE CAUSE IS MY STYLE OF DRIVING -- NOT A DEFECTIVE HONDA PROBLEM. AFTER TELLING HIM THAT I DRIVE WITH ONLY ONE FOOT (I DON'T HOLD MY LEFT FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHILE DRIVING), HE STATED THAT ACCORDS ARE BUILT WITH AUTOBAHN QUALITY, HIGH-PERFORMANCE BRAKE PARTS THAT ARE REALLY SOFT FOR ENHANCED BRAKING ABILITY. I TOLD HIM THAT I HARDLY FEEL THAT THIS BASE-MODEL ACCORD WOULD BE CONSIDERED A "HIGH PERFORMANCE" VEHICLE. NEVERTHELESS, THE "SOFT / HIGH-QUALITY PADS" AND MY DRIVING STYLE WAS HIS REASON (ACCORDING TO HIM) FOR THE PREMATURE WEARING OF THE BRAKES. I'VE OWNED 15+ CARS IN MY LIFE TIME AND HAVE NEVER HAD BRAKE PADS WEAR DOWN IN LESS THAN 40,000 MILES - ESPECIALLY REAR BRAKES! I TOLD THE TECH THAT AFTER DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A VERY WELL-KNOWN PROBLEM WITH ACCORDS. HE SAID HIS HANDS WERE TIED AND HE COULDN'T OFFER ME ANY RELIEF WITHOUT HONDA CORP'S. BLESSING. THE SERVICE TECH TOLD ME THE PADS WERE NICE AND EVENLY WARN. I CHANGED THE BRAKE PADS MYSELF AND FOUND THE OPPOSITE TO BE TRUE - THE INNER PAD WAS WAY MORE WORN OUT THAN THE OUTER - INDICATION A BRAKE SYSTEM DEFECT. *TR
THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE HEAD RESTRAINT SYSTEM ON THE CAR THAT CAUSES CONSTANT BACK PAIN. *TR
BRAND NEW 2009 ACCORD. LOUD & ANNOYING BRAKE SQUEAKING. HONDA DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES A DESIGN DEFECT AND STATES THAT HONDA IS WORKING ON A SOLUTION. I CHECK WITH THEM AND COMPLAIN OFTEN. ON INSPECTION THERE IS PREMATURE WEAR, ON A VEHICLE THAT NOW HAS LESS THAN 5K MILES. GUESS I'LL HAVE A RICH WIDOW WHEN MY BRAKES FAIL BEFORE THE HONDA RECOMMENDED BRAKE INSPECTION. *TR
HONDA ACCORD 2009- DRIVER SIDE AUTOMATIC SEAT ADJUSTOR/TRACKING SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING. EVERY TIME WE ADJUST OUR SEAT FORWARDS OR BACKWARDS IT BUMPS HARD SEVERAL TIMES. HONDA SERVICE AND HONDA CORP SAID THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAVE NO FIX. THIS CAR MALFUNCTION COULD POTENTIALLY BE A SAFETY HAZARD. THEY ARE STILL SELLING THESE ACCORDS ON THEIR LOTS WITHOUT ANY DISCLOSURE. *TR UPDATED IVOQ 10/22/10
MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD HAS 15,000 MILES AND I WAS JUST INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE REAR BRAKES HAVE COMPLETELY WORN OUT. I INFORMED THEM OF SQUEAKING BRAKES AT 7,500 MILES AND WAS ASSURED THIS IS NORMAL. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR REAR BRAKES TO NEED REPLACEMENT ANYWHERE FROM 12,000 TO 18,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED IN A RECALL, ESPECIALLY AFTER SEEING SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
BRAKES ON MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD. PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR WITH IN 5,000 MILES. ROTORS REPLACED ON FRONT AND THE REARS NEED IT NOW TOO. *TR
2008 HONDA ACCORD, BRAKES NEEDED REPLACING AFTER NOISES STARTED COMING FROM THE REAR BRAKES, ROTORS SHOT, DRUMS NEEDED REPLACING, PADS GONE. ALL THIS HAPPENED AT 26210 MILES FOR A TOTAL OF $547.86. THE BRAKES WILL NEED REPLACING EVERY 20,000 MILES AS ADVISED BY THE HONDA DEALER. HONDA CLAIMS IT IS NOT A SAFETY PROBLEM - BULL - BRAKES ARE A SAFETY PROBLEM, HOW CAN HONDA ADVERTISE THEY HAVE A SAFE CAR AND HAVE BRAKES FAILING ON OVER 500 COMPLAINTS FILED TO DATE. THESE IDIOTS ARE PROTECTING THEIR STOCKHOLDERS AND RISKING THE COMMON PERSON. NTSB NEEDS TO GET A PAIR AND START INVESTIGATING HONDA'S LIES. EVERYONE WHO OWNS A HONDA ACCORD SHOULD START A MASSIVE COMPLAINT SYSTEM TO GET HONDA TO FIX THE PROBLEM. PEOPLE COUNT, NOT STOCKHOLDERS. HONDA USE TO BE A GREAT CAR - THIS ONE IS A PILE OF CRAP SO THEIR STOCKHOLDERS CAN GET MORE MONEY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION,AND THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS PLACED INTO THE "REVERSE" POSITION. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AT THE SPEED OF 5 MPH. THE DRIVER APPLIED PRESSURE TO BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER SHIFTING INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE POSITIONS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING PROPERLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 264. HEADLIGHTS FLICKER AT ANY GIVEN TIME, AT IDLE, OR WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. NOT JUST ONCE, BUT HAS HAPPENED SIX OR SEVEN TIMES IN SUCCESSION ON THE HIGHWAY. HONDA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAY IT'S "NORMAL". *TR
REAR BRAKES ARE SHOT. WENT IN FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE,FLUIDS TOPPED,TIRES ROTATED,AND EVERYTHING LOOKED AT. MECHANIC CAME OUT AND SAID BRAKES ARE SHOT (CAR IS AN '09 HONDA ACCORD BOUGHT NEW) SAYS IT'S AN ISSUE ON 08 AND 09'S BUT IS A WARE ITEM AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I DID A WEB SEARCH AND FOUND IT'S NOT ONLY ME. *TR
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AT DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE CAR NEEDED REAR BRAKES. THE CAR IS NEW AND HAS ONLY 16,000 MILES ON IT. I GOT AN OUTSIDE MECHANIC'S OPINION AND WAS TOLD THE CAR DOES NEED REAR BRAKES, HOWEVER, IN HIS OPINION THIS SHOULD BE WARRANTY WORK. HE SAID REAR BRAKES SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED THIS SOON. NOW I SEE FROM THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE, I AM NOT ALONE. 2008 AND 2009 ACCORDS HAVE A PROBLEM AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. NHTSA, PLEASE DO SOMETHING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, SHE WAS UNABLE TO SIT COMFORTABLY IN THE DRIVER SEAT DUE TO THE HEAD REST. SHE ALSO HAD A SHARP PAIN BETWEEN HER SHOULDER BLADES AFTER TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE. SHE IS FAMILIAR WITH DETAILED INFORMATION RELATED TO THE HEAD REST AND STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD REDESIGN THE VEHICLE. HER HEIGHT IS 5'2 AND COULD BE A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR; HOWEVER, THE HEAD REST SHOULD ACCOMMODATE ALL HEIGHTS. SHE HAS OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR THREE DAYS AND HAS CONSIDERED RETURNING IT TO THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44.
2009 HONDA ACCORD WITH LESS THAN 30K MILES NOTED TO HAVE SQUEAKING FROM REAR BRAKES WITHIN FEW MONTHS OF PURCHASE. DEALER SAID IT WAS "NORMAL" WEAR IN PERIOD. SQUEAK NEVER RESOLVED. WENT TO INDEPENDENT AUTO REPAIR SHOP. INSPECTION REVEALED SEVERE BRAKE PAD WEAR FOR LIMITED MILEAGE AND DANGEROUS AMOUNT OF WARPING AND DAMAGE TO THE REAR ROTORS. HONDA MOTOR CO. CONTACTED AND STATED "WILL LOOK INTO IT", BUT "NOTHING TO DO NOW", AS THIS IS "NOT A SAFETY CONCERN". I QUESTIONED HOW DAMAGE TO THE BRAKE SYSTEM CAN BE CONSIDERED "NOT A SAFETY CONCERN" AND THEY HUNG UP.*TR
PURCHASED A 2009 HONDA ACCORD FULL LOADED. AFTER 18 THOUSAND MILES, I NEEDED TO CHANGE THE REAR BRAKES. ACCORDING TO DEALER IT WAS A DEFECT ON THE PADS AND THAT IS WHY I RAN WITH THE PROBLEM. I SAW ONLINE ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME ISSUE AND IS INCREDIBLE, I BELIEVE THE 2008 AND 21009 SHOULD BE RECALL ON ALL BRAKES SINCE IT LOOKS LIKE PEOPLE ARE CHANGING THEIR BRAKES EVERY 7-8 MONTH AND HONDA IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT FIXING THE PROBLEM. I HAD TO PAY FOR MY BRAKES AND HAD SUCH A BIG PROBLEM ADDRESSING IT TO THE MANAGER AT HONDA MISSION VALLEY, HE KEEPS SAYING THAT IS NO THE DEALERS PROBLEM, BUT ONCE I SEND HIM THE LINK WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS PEOPLE HAVE ON THEIR BRAKES, HE SAID NOTHING ELSE. I AM CONCERN ON MY FAMILY AND MY SELF SAFETY. HOW MANY TIMES WOULD I HAVE TO CHANGE IN A YEAR MY BRAKES. IS THAT SOMETHING NORMAL? I DON'T THINK SO. PLEASE LET PEOPLE KNOW THE PROBLEM THAT ALL HONDAS ARE HAVING RIGHT NOW. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. WINDSHIELD WIPERS DO NOT CLEAR WINDOWS DURING RAINY WEATHER. ON THE UPSWING THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER MOVES THE WATER FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE ONTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THIS CAUSES THE DRIVER'S VISIBILITY TO BE DETERIORATED SIGNIFICANTLY IN RAINY WEATHER BY NEVER CLEARING THE WINDSHIELD OF WATER. *TR

THE REAR BRAKE PADS ON BOTH MY HONDA ACCORDS FAILED WITH LESS THAN 34,000 MILES ON MY WIFE'S CAR AND LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON MY DAUGHTER'S HONDA. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER SHE SLIDES THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT FORWARD, THE TRACK WAS VERY ROUGH. SHE WAS ALSO NOT SURE IF IT WAS LOCKED IN PLACE DUE TO THE ROUGH SLIDE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWICE AND WAS INFORMED THAT AN UPDATED SEAT TRACK WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED TO-DATE. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST HER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,100. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,169.
FRONT ROTORS WEREN'T SURFACED, OTHERS HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS AS WELL. DEALER SURFACED THE ROTORS, NO LONGER VIBRATES WHEN I BRAKE. COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT AFTER THE FACT, THOUGH. DEFEATS PURPOSE OF BUYING BRAND NEW CAR. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2009 HONDA AND HAD IT SERVICE EVERY 3000 MILES. UPON MY SECOND SERVICING OF THE CAR I HAD THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK MY BRAKES CAUSE THEY WERE SQUEAKING; THE REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THE BRAKE ROTORS TEND TO RUST AND THE REASON WHY I WAS HEARING THE BRAKES UPON COMPRESSION. SO, ME BEING A WOMAN AND ALL I THOUGHT THE REPRESENTATIVE BEING HONEST WITH ME HOWEVER, I DROVE THE CAR FOR ANOTHER WEEK AND I COULD HEAR THIS GRINDING NOISE WHILE DRIVING AS IF METAL AND METAL WAS RUBBING TOGETHER. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WOULD GO AWAY BUT IT DIDN'T IT KEPT ON AND THEN IT SUDDENLY STOPPED. HOWEVER, THE BRAKES STARTED SCRUBBING REAL BAD SO I TOOK IT FOR SERVICING SAME STORY...THEY CLEANED OFF THE ROTORS AND NOTHING ELSE. SO IT WAS GETTING CLOSE TO MY 25K CHECK SO I SIMPLY PRAYED AND IGNORED THE ANNOYING SOUND UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO TAKE IT IN. WHEN I DID THE REPRESENTATIVE TELLS ME THAT MY REAR BRAKE PADS NEED TO BE REPLACED I WAS LIKE THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE - WHY WOULD I NEED TO REPLACE THE REAR PADS WHEN I DRIVE A FRONT WHEEL DRIVE AUTOMOBILE. I WAS EXTREMELY MESSED UP ABOUT IT AND COMPLAINED SO THEY OFFERED TO PAY HALF AND I THE OTHER I TOLD I WASN'T GOING TO PAY ANYTHING. I BOUGHT A 2009 HONDA ACCORD FROM A LOCAL DEALER HERE IN NASHVILLE,TN. I HAVE ABOUT 20,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND I STARTED HEARING A WEIRD SCREECHING NOISE AND WENT TO THE DEALER FOR A CHECK UP. THE DEALER SERVICE GUYS TOLD ME THAT MY REAR BRAKE PADS HAVE WORN OUT AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I CROSS CHECKED WITH OTHER HONDA ACCORD BUYERS AND THEY ALL HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR BRAKE PADS. THIS WAS MENTIONED TO THE DEALER SERVICE GUYS AND THEN THEY ACCEPTED THAT THEY HAD FEW THOUSAND COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME ISSUE FROM NEW CAR OWNERS. THEY ARE REFUSING TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS AS THE COMPANY HAD NOT YET SENT THEM ANY DIRECTIVE FOR SUCH. THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME $180.00 FOR REAR BRAKE PADS REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER NAME IS CREST HONDA IN NASHVILLE AND THE CAR IS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE A POOR DESIGN OR A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT THE COMPANY NEEDS TO OWN UP AND FIX IT. *TR
MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD EX-L WAS REAR IMPACTED BY A BIG SUV WHEN I WAS STOPPED AT SIGNAL LIGHT. AS A RESULT OF REAR END COLLISION, I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT. THE FRONT AIRBAG WAS POORLY INFLATED. I WAS INJURED AND WENT TO THE NEAREST EMERGENCY ROOM. THE AIR BAG PART WAS REPAIRED BY THE AUTO BODY SHOP.
2009 HONDA ACCORD LEASED IN 2008 FROM VALLEY HONDA, 4173 OGDEN AVENUE, AURORA IL, 60504. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO NOISE COMING FROM BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL PULLING TO THE LEFT. RETURNED VEHICLE SEVERAL MORE TIMES COMPLAINING OF SAME ISSUE. VALLEY HONDA STATED THERE PER TECHLINE, HONDA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND IS WORKING ON A COUNTERMEASURE. IN MY OPINION THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I EXPLAINED TO HONDA, THE DEALERSHIP AND THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAUS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE I HAVE TO "PUMP" MY BRAKES IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE DURING STOPPING...ALL DISAGREED. I HAVE AN HONDA ACCORD EX PURCHASED ON OCT 2008. EVER SINCE 3000 MILES I HAVE BEEN HEARING A SQUEALING NOISE WHEN I DEPLOY THE BRAKES. IN AUGUST 17, 2009 THE SQUEAL TURNED INTO A GRINDING NOISE AND I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH REAR BRAKE PADS. MY CAR HAS ONLY 20,000 MILES. I SUSPECT THE QUALITY OF THE PART IS BELOW PAR IF NOT DEFECTIVE. ALSO I SUSPECT THAT THE RIGHT PART IS NOT BEING USED ON THE NEW GENERATION OF ACCORDS (2008, 2009) THEREBY CAUSING EXCESSIVE WEAR AND TEAR. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. *TR

THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IS ARISING WITH HONDA ACCORDS 2008 MODEL, REAR BRAKE PADS. THEY TEND TO WORE OUT AFTER 15,000 MILES. I AM A OWNER OF 2008 HONDA ACCORD V6, AND AT FIRST I DIDN'T THINK THIS WOULD HAPPEN TO ME SINCE I FIGURED IT'S JUST RANDOM EVENTS BUT AFTER TODAY SEEING THAT RIGHT SIDE REAR BRAKES ARE ALMOST GONE AND THERE IS ONLY LITTLE BIT OF PAD LEFT ON RIGHT SIDE, I STARTED RESEARCHING AND FOUND OUT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH HONDA ACCORD 2008 MODELS. REAR FRAME WAS NOT BOLTED DOWN TO SPEC IN THE FACTORY CAUSING THE CAR TO BE UNSURE WHILE DRIVING. NUMEROUS BOLTS WERE LOOSE. TRANSMISSION HAS A SHREDDING AND TEARING NOISE WHEN PUT IN REVERSE AND THEN DRIVE. BRAKES ARE GRINDING AND CAUSE THE CAR TO POSSIBLY LURCH FORWARD WHILE FOOT IS ON BRAKE. IN JULY OF 2009 I PURCHASED A 2009 HONDA ACCORD EX-L SEDAN. FROM THE BEGINNING WHEN ADJUSTING THE POWER DRIVER SEAT, THE MOVEMENT OF THE SEAT FORWARD AND BACKWARD WAS ROUGH (I.E. WOBBLY). I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND THEY REPLACED THE SEAT RAILS, BUT THE PROBLEM REMAINS THOUGH NOT AS SEVERE. LESS THAN ONE HUNDRED MILES I TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN, AND THIS TIME I TOLD THEM THAT SOMETHING HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE BRAKE PADS AT LEAST. THE SERIVCE ATTENDANT SAID THAT HONDA COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. I CALLED HONDA CORPORATION AND BASICALLY WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. HONDA COULD NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE LAST THING I TOLD HONDA WAS THAT I JUST HAD TO LIVE WITH THE PROBLEM AND SIMPLY SAID YES. I WOULD HOPE THAT THIS COMPLAINT IS JOINED WITH OTHERS TO FORCE HONDA TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM.
