Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2009 Honda Accord. The contact discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 92,000, and at the time of reviewing the Insurance, it was discovered that the mileage was 225,000.
Alternator caught on fire
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2009 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after several attempts without warning. After obtaining a Carfax report, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was approximately 52,000 and it was discovered that the mileage was approximately 148,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle had been experiencing an oil leak. The dealer diagnosed that the valve cover gasket had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the valve cover gasket was replaced several times; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that a hairline fracture in the engine housing had caused the oil vacuum seal to fracture and the oil to leak. The dealer replaced the engine housing. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal loud sound coming from underneath the hood, and the vehicle skipped gears and lunged forward. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 70-75 MPH, the contact noticed a burning chemical odor. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned on the hazard lights. The contact then drove to the residence, where the contact opened the hood and noticed that the battery had melted. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.
Had to replace the battery. Turns out the alternator was not charging the battery. I then replaced the alternator. The alternator was contaminated with oil from the VVT. The Variable Valve Timing Solenoid Assembly that is located above the alternator needs to be replaced also. Otherwise the oil leak will damage the alternator again.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2009 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SRS WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HOWDY HONDA (5519 E BEN WHITE BLVD, AUSTIN, TX 78741, (512) 686-1544) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE SHOWED AN OPEN CIRCUIT WITHIN THE WIRING HARNESS WHICH CAUSED AN INCREASED RESISTANCE IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE EMERGENCY TRUNK RELEASE LATCH. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THEY ALSO WERE UNABLE TO OPEN THE EMERGENCY LATCH. THE CONTACT CALLED CAWOOD HONDA (LOCATED AT 2516 PINE GROVE AVE, PORT HURON, MI 48060, (810) 987-3030) AND NOTIFIED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 187,000.
I HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT SHORTING OUT WITH MY RADIO AND LOCKS WHILE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE STOPS RUNNING. TOOK IT IN TO GET CHECKED OUT COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH BATTER OR ALTERNATOR. BRAND NEW BATTERY 2 MONTHS OLD AND IS STILL DOING IT. DIED THIS TIME AFTER ARRIVING TO WORK AND WILL NOT START.
THE SRS UNIT HAS FAILED WHICH IS AN ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEM IN SOME 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORDS BUT MY PARTICULAR MODEL IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL. CONSIDERING THE FAILURE AND THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT FROM HONDA ON THIS EXACT ISSUE, MY CAR SHOULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL FREE OF CHARGE. I CAME TO KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT BEING ON.
MISSING SOME OF THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ON THE 2009 HONDA ACCORD; MAINLY RADIO, CLIMATE AND SHIFTER BUTTON DISPLAYS; REST OF THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WORK AND STILL HAVE FUNCTIONALITY
WE HAVE FOUND THAT ARE 2009 HONDA ACCORD HAS A PARASITIC DRAW WE HAVE TO PULL FUSES SO THE BATTERY DOES NOT GO DEAD WITHIN HOURS. HAVE TRIED NEW BATTERIES, CHARGE BATTERIES. THROUGH OUR OWN RESEARCH PEOPLE ARE CALLING THIS PROBLEM A PARASITIC DRAW FROM THE BATTERY AND ITS A MATTER OF TRACING WIRES DOWN AND PULLING FUSES. AND IF YOU WANT TO USE CAR WITHOUT RUNNING BATTERY DOWN MY HUSBAND HAS PULLED A FUSE OR TWO BUT THIS DISABLES SEVERAL THINGS RADIO, SOME DASHBOARD FUNCTIONS. WHICH IF IT KEEPS GOING COULD BE PROBLEMATIC ON THE FUNCTION OF THE HONDA MAYBE AFFECTING LIGHTS EVENTUALLY OR OTHER SAFETY FEATURES. SO WOULD LIKE TO SEE HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM AND HOW BAD IT CAN GET AND HOW IT CAN BE FIXED. SOME PEOPLE WERE DISCONNECTING WIRES TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM AND DON'T WANT TO DO THAT. WHEN WE BOUGHT CAR IT HAD TO BE JUMP STARTED. SO THE PROBLEM HAS ONLY INCREASED AS TIME HAS PASSED.
AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND THE RECALL FOR THE MODULE WAS COMPLETED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO ODDLY ENOUGH THE SRS LIGHT AND TPS ARE ON AS WELL ALL CAME IN ABOUT THE SAME TIME BUT UNKNOWN AS TO WHY
THE TPMS WARNING LIGHT PERIODICALLY APPEARS DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE IS NOT LOW ON MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD. THE TPMS LIGHT HAS REMAINED ON FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS EVEN THOUGH I HAVE VERIFIED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE IS NORMAL. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN ON HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS WHILE THE LIGHT REMAINED ON.
POWER WINDOW REAR RT - WON'T CLOSE. THE MOTOR GETS VERY HOT. VERY UNSAFE, HAD MY MECHANIC DISCONNECT THE MOTOR. THE WINDOW STARTED OPENING ON ITS OWN WHILE I WAS IN MOTION & WOULDN'T CLOSE. WHEN ENGINE IS ON, THE MOTOR IS ON ALL THE TIME AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE WHEN KEY IS ON POSITIIN.I JUST REALIZED THAT THIS HAD TO BE THE CAUSE OF THE MELTED MOLDING ONLY ON THAT ONE WINDOW. RARELY OPEN THIS WINDOW THROUGHOUT THE YEARS.
AFTER PULLING INTO A SHOPPING AREA PARKING LOT, WITH THE CAR STATIONARY AND THE ENGINE OFF, THE DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO OPEN TRAPPING US IN THE CAR IN THE SUNLIGHT OF A 90 DEGREE DAY, PRESSING THE KEY UNLOCK ACTUATOR TO UNLOCK THE DOORS BY USING THE KEY UNLOCK BUTTON FAILS TO UNLOCK THE DOORS THEREBY PREVENTING THE OCCUPANTS FROM GETTING OUT OF THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE AND HAS SUBJECTED MY WIFE AND I TO BEING TRAPPED IN THE CAR IN RAPIDLY RISING HEAT FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES UNTIL AFTER REPEATEDLY PRESSING THE KEY UNLOCK BUTTON THE DOORS UNLOCK. THE CAR IS NOT CAPABLE OF STARTING DURING THIS TIME. THIS FRIGHTENING CIRCUMSTANCE HAS NOW HAPPENED A FEW TIMES - NOT COMFORTABLE FOR TWO PEOPLE IN THEIR SEVENTIES.

ENGINE SURGED AND VEHICLE SPED UP, ON IT'S OWN, WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT. VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH BOULDERS AND RAILROAD TIES CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE FRONT, REAR, UNDERCARRIAGE, AND RUPTURED THE FUEL TANK. WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO REST, PEOPLE WERE YELLING FOR THE OCCUPANTS TO "GET OUT" OF THE VEHICLE, BECAUSE FUEL WAS GUSHING ALL OVER THE GROUND. DRIVER IS 84 AND PASSENGER IS 82. BOTH SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THEIR SPINES AND DRIVER IS STILL IN THE HOSPITAL AS OF 3/8/2015. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUTOFF WITHOUT WARNING. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO RACINE HONDA - DEALER SERVICE & PARTS (9501 WASHINGTON AVE, RACINE, WI 53406) WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR. THE CONTACT HAD THE ALTERNATOR AND THE HEAD GASKET REPLACED. SINCE THE INITIAL FAILURE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE RECURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER EACH TIME TO HAVE THE ALTERNATOR REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE FOURTH TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,950.
