I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. THE FRONT SEATS ARE SO UNCOMFORTABLE THEY MAKES ME TENSE KNOW I HAVE TO GET BACK IN IT. AFTER RIDING FOR A SHORT DISTANCES MY NECK AND BACK HURT. HOW COULD A COMPANY MAKE A NEW CAR AND PUT SUCH HORRIBLE SEATS IN THEM. THE BACK SEAT RIDE BETTER THAN THE FRONT SEAT.NOW IF I COULD ONLY DRIVE SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT. THE CAR MIGHT RUN WELL AND GET DECENT GAS MILEAGE BUT I WOULD NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER HONDA. IF THEY USED REAL PEOPLE RIDING IN THESE SEATS THEY WOULD HAVE CORRECTED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE PLACING THEM IN THEIR CARS. HONDA PLEASE CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. *TT
MY 2010 HONDA ACCORD EXPERIENCED PREMATURE REAR BRAKE WEAR AND I PAID TO HAVE THE BRAKES REPLACED AT ONLY 22,837 MILES. THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND SETTLEMENT FOR THE 2008 AND 2009 MODEL YEARS (AND ONLY A HANDFUL OF VINS FOR THE 2010 MODEL YEAR WHICH DOES NOT INCLUDE MINE). I THOUGHT THAT HONDA HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM AND THAT IMPROVED PADS WERE BEING INSTALLED BUT APPARENTLY NOT SINCE THE 2010 MODEL YEAR STILL SEEMS TO BE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. *KB
I TOOK MY CAR FOR A REGULAR SERVICE AT THE DCH ACADEMY HONDA AND THE SERVICE DEALER TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO REPLACE REAR BRAKES. IT WAS VERY SURPRISING THAT AT 22K MILES THE REAR BRAKES HAVE GONE. HE TOLD ME ABOUT THE COMPLAINT FILED FOR THE 2008-2009 AND SOME 2010 MODELS. I FILED THE COMPLAINT AND FOUND OUT THAT MY VIN IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A REIMBURSEMENT. I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD CONSIDER ALL THE 2010 MODELS. I DONT KNOW WHAT IS THE CRITERIA HONDA HAS TO INDENTIFY FAULTY BRAKES. CLEARLY, HONDA HAS FLAW IN KEEPING TRACK OF THIER INVENTORY OR THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO ACKNOLOEGE CUSOTER COMPLAINS AND ACT ON THE INFORMAITON.
MY CAR IS CURRENTLY IN FOR INSPECTION WITH ~16,000 MILES. I WAS JUST TOLD BY HONDA THAT I NEED NEW REAR BRAKES. IT IS GOING TO COST ME $210 TO HAVE THE REPLACED. *TR
WENT INTO MY HONDA DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION AND WAS NOTIFIED THAT MY REAR BRAKES IN MY 2010 HONDA ACCORD WERE SHOT AT 14,805 MILES. NEVER IN MY ENTIRE DRIVING CAREER HAVE I EVER EXPERIENCED THIS AND I AM 65 YEARS OLD. EVIDENTLY THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM AND CONSUMERS HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. WAITING FOR A CALL FROM HONDA AND WILL BE CHECKING INTO THIS FURTHER. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST HONDA REGARDING THIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 55 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN STEERING IN MULTIPLE DIRECTIONS CAUSING THE CONTACT TO MOMENTARILY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 18,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT BUTTON FAILED. THE BUTTON WOULD NOT ALLOW THE SHIFTER TO SHIFT BETWEEN GEARS. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED BUT COULD NOT UNDERSTAND THE NATURE OF THE FAILURE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN IN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,428.
REAR BRAKE PADS WORE OUT ON NEW 2010 ACCORD AT 25,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD THAT THE COST TO REPAIR THEM WOULD BE REIMBURSED, HOWEVER, WHEN I SUBMITTED MY CLAIM, I WAS TOLD MY VIN NUMBER DID NOT MATCH UP AND THEY WERE NOT GOING TO REIMBURSE ME. 2008-2009 AND SOME 2010 ACCORDS ARE INCLUDED IN HONDA SETTLEMENT FOR FAULTY REAR BRAKE PADS....I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED ALL 2010 ACCORDS AS THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. REAR BRAKE PADS SHOULD NOT GO OUT AT 25,000 MILES. PATHETIC HONDA. WE WILL THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING ANOTHER HONDA. *TR
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION; CAR MAKES CLATTERING ENGINE NOISE (OIL STARVATION) AT AROUND 4200 MILES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES; BEEN ON OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AT DEALER AND TOLD I AM STILL WITHIN SPECS OF BURNING 1 QUART OIL PER 1000 MILES BEING NORMAL; HAVE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE THAT LOSES OIL BETWEEN CHANGES; DEALER RECOMMENDED I PULL OVER ON SIDE OF ROAD WHEN I HEAR CLATTERING NOISE TO TOP OFF OIL; BEEN GETTING OIL CHANGES EVERY TWO MONTHS BECAUSE OF CLATTERING NOISE BEING HEARD IN ENGINE; WAS GIVEN A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO FIX THIS IN LATE AUGUST BUT IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE-- WENT FROM BURNING 1/4 QUART PER 1000 TO 1/3 QUART PER 1000. *KB
THE DAY AFTER MY AC STOPPED WORKING I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE NEAREST DEALER WHICH WAS AUTOWEST HONDA OF FREMONT. EVEN THOUGH SUMMER WAS ALMOST OVER IT WAS STILL HOT ENOUGH NOT TO LIVE WITH OUT AC SO I DECIDED TO HAVE MY AC DIAGNOSED. APPARENTLY THE DEALER SAID THAT A SMALL PEBBLE HIT MY CONDENSER WHICH CAUSED MY AC TO STOP WORKING. MY INSURANCE WILL COVER IT BUT MY DEDUCTIBLE IS TOO HIGH, MY HONDA WARRANTY DOES NOT WANT TO COVER IT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A DEFECT AND OF COURSE THE COST TO FIX THE AC CONDENSER PLUS LABOR WOULD COST ABOUT $900!! I REALLY FIND THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT UN FAIR! IF IT THAT SIMPLE FOR A CONDENSER TO BE DAMAGED BY A PEBBLE WHY WOULD HONDA PUT OUT A VEHICLE LIKE THAT OUT ON THE STREETS! I KNOW THE CONDENSER HAS TO BE EXPOSED BUT I BELIEVE THE MODEL OF THIS VEHICLE EXPOSES THE CONDENSER TOO MUCH AND IF ITS THAT SIMPLE FOR THE CONDENSER TO GET DAMAGED THEN HONDA HAS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW AND TO HAVE SUCH A NECESSARY REPAIR RUNNING FOR $900 AT 30,000 MILES IS RIDICULOUS. EITHER PUT BETTER CONDENSER ON HONDA VEHICLES OR DON'T PUT VEHICLES OUT THERE WHERE ONE HAS TO WORRY ABOUT HITTING PEBBLES BECAUSE THEY MIGHT COST YOU ANOTHER $900! REALLY UNHAPPY WITH HONDA RIGHT NOW, ESPECIALLY THE FACT THAT I LOVE HONDA'S AND MOST OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE ONE. HOPEFULLY HONDA CAN FIX THIS, BRAND NEW CAR AND ALREADY UNHAPPY AT 30,000! AND OF COURSE I HAD TO PAY THE$150 FOR DIAGNOSING THE THING BECAUSE IT WAS NOT COVERED BY MY HONDA PROTECTION PLAN! HOW ARE WE SUPPOSE TO DRIVE A HONDA ACCORD COUPE WITH PIECE OF MIND IF I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A PEBBLE HITTING MY CONDENSER AND DAMAGING IT, WHEN STREETS ARE FULL OF THEM! I NEED A CAR THAT WOULD GIVE ME PIECE OF MIND NOT ONE THAT WOULD PUT ME AT RISK FINANCIALLY EVERY TIME I'M DRIVING THE [XXX] THING! AT 18,000 MILES THE CAR BRAKES STARTED TO SQUEAK BUT AFTER A FEW MILES IT STOPPED SQUEAKING. AT 19,000 MILES MY CAR STARTED TO SHAKE A BIT WHEN I APPLIED THE BREAKS AND IT THEN CONTINUED TO SQUEAK EVERY TIME I APPLIED THE BRAKES. ON 8/20 I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THE BRAKES DONE AT PEPBOYS AND THEY TOLD ME MY REAR BRAKES HAD GONE THROUGH THE PAD AND WAS TEARING INTO THE ROTOR. MY ACCORD ONLY HAS ~25,000 MILES ON IT AND THE FRONT BRAKES ARE FINE. *TR
THE 2010 HONDA ACCORD HEADRESTS LEAN FORWARD AT SUCH AN EXTREME ANGLE THAT THEY CAUSE A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF DRIVERS ENOUGH DISCOMFORT THAT THEY (MYSELF INCLUDED) FREQUENTLY MODIFY OR REMOVE THEM COMPLETELY, NULLIFYING ANY SAFETY GAINS THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN REALIZED WITH A FORWARD-LEANING DESIGN. NHTSA STANDARDS SHOULD REQUIRE MANUFACTURERS TO ALLOW DRIVERS TO ADJUST THE HEADRESTS TO A COMFORTABLE POSITION TO AVOID DRIVERS MODIFYING OR REMOVING THEM ENTIRELY. *TR
2010 ACCORD WAS PARKED IN THE EMERGENCY LANE OFF I-40 NEAR KINGMAN, AZ WHEN IT WAS SIDESWIPED BY A INTL TRACTOR TRAIL TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 75-80 MPH. AIRBAGS DID NOT INFLATE, BUT EXPLODED INTO DRIVER. CAR WAS CONSIDERED TOTALED BY INSURANCE COMPANY AND DRIVER HAS PERMANENT NECK INJURIES FOR LIFE.
TOOK MY 2010 HONDA ACCORD INTO PRIORITY HONDA IN CHESAPEAKE, VA TO HAVE THE ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION DONE. I HAVE BEEN TAKING MY CAR THERE SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW TO HAVE ALL THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCES DONE. AT 30,000 MILES, I AM BEING TOLD I NEED REAR BRAKES AND THEY ARE ALMOST METAL-TO-METAL AND THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WOULD REIMBURSE ME UP TO 150.00 OF THE REPAIR COST WHICH WAS CLOSE TO 200.00. I CALLED HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE TO ONLY BE TOLD BY THEM THAT MY VIN# IS NOT COVERED AND IT WAS ONLY VERY FEW 2010 ACCORDS THAT WERE AFFECTED. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK, THEY SIMPLY JUST APOLOGIZED THAT THEY HAD GIVEN ME WRONG INFORMATION, ADVISED ME THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR REAR BRAKES TO WEAR OUT IN 30,000 MILES (WHICH I KNOW IS NOT CORRECT), AND SAID IT WAS WEAR AND TEAR AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE COST OF REPAIRS. REALLY....THIS IS THE SECOND HONDA I HAVE PURCHASED, BUT I AM MIGHTY AFRAID IT WILL BE MY LAST AND I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING TRADING IT IN FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN A HONDA ASAP. WHAT IS ALSO VERY CONCERNING IS I SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. *TR
A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO THE BRAKES STARTED SQUEALING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS. SEVERAL TIMES THE BRAKES WERE SLOW TO RESPOND AND SQUEALED LOUDLY. I HAVE A 2010 HONDA ACCORD V-6. IN JUNE I HAD TO HAVE MY ROTORS TURNED BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD SHIMMY WHEN I USED THE BRAKES. HONDA SERVICE SAID THAT THE WARRANTY DIDN'T COVER THIS. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND ONLY HAVE ~25K MILES ON IT. THE MILEAGE IS 90% HIGHWAY AND INTERSTATE MILES AND THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON THAT THE BRAKE PADS SHOULD BE REPLACED OTHER THAN POOR MATERIAL. I HAVE READ ABOUT THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, BUT NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT.. *TR
AT 28,000 MILES THE REAR BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED, ROTORS CUT TO THE COST OF $314.59. I BOUGHT THE CAR ON MARCH 29, 2010 BRAND NEW. JOHN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT MIDDLETOWN HONDA TELLS ME THE FRONT BRAKES ARE PERFECT AND THIS IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE REAR BRAKES- REALLY. I DRIVE HIGHWAY MILES TO AND FROM WORK, NO EXCESSIVE BRAKING SO NOT IT IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON REAR BRAKES. NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF PROBLEM WITH ANY OF MY OTHER NEW CARS - NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE ONLY THING I WAS ABLE TO GET FROM JOHN WAS THE 800 NUMBER TO CALL BECAUSE HE "THOUGHT" HE HAD HEARD SOMETHING ABOUT A CLASS ACTION SUIT. THOUGHT, REALLY HMMM. IN ALL MY YEARS OF DRIVING, OVER 40 YEARS, NEVER HAVE I HAD THIS KIND OF ISSUE ANY OF MY CARS NOR HAD THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SHOW THE NONCHALANT ATTITUDE TOWARDS A CUSTOMER. HONDA ACCORD LS 2010 BRAKES OUT OF NOWHERE STARTED TO MAKE HISSING SOUND. PULLED CAR OVER TO DETERMINE REASON AND DETERMINED IT ONLY MADE SOUND WHEN PRESSING BRAKE PEDAL. THE CAR HAD LESS THAN 15000 MILES ON IT AND THEREFORE WAS SHOCKED BY SOUND. HONDA HAS CREATED A PREMATURE BRAKE ISSUE AND MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE . *TR

OCTOBER 20 2014 LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING REPORTED BAD BY HONDA. NO WARRANTY 29,000 MILES. SAME CAR WHAT A JOKE. *TR
I OWN A 2010 HONDA ACCORD V6. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR ONE YEAR. THE MILEAGE IS JUST OVER 18,000 MILES. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR INSPECTION ON YESTERDAY AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY REAR BRAKES WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED WITHIN THE NEXT THREE MONTHS. I HAVE OWNED HONDAS EVERY SINCE 1989 AND PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR HAS NEVER OCCURRED WITH ANY OF THE HONDA THAT I HAVE OWNED. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO TO GET SOME TYPE OF RESOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE YOUR BRAKES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN A CAR. ALSO, THIS CAR HAS A FAULTY FRONT BUMPER. IT IS ATTACHED TO THE CAR BY SNAPS. THESE SNAPS BREAK AND THE BUMPER STARTS SEPARATING FROM THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SENT IT TO THEIR BODY SHOP BUT THE BUMPER IS STILL TRY TO SEPARATE FROM THE CAR. IF THE BUMPER COMES OFF IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
7/13/2011: 39,991 MILES, HUMMING NOISE FROM LEFT FRONT TIRE REPORTED AT HONDA SERVICE DEPT, PARTS ORDERED. 7/2172011: 40,954 MILES, REPLACED LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING AT HONDA SERVICE DEPT. 9/28/2011: 48,177 MILES, COMPLAINED OF SAME HUMMING NOISE AT HONDA SERVICE , WILL RETURN TOMORROW FOR REPAIR. 9/29/2011: 48,268 MILES, REPLACED RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING AT HONDA SERVICE. 3/22/2013: 95,778 MILES, COMPLAINED OF CAR RUNNING ROUGH, UNABLE TO GET TO HIGHWAY SPEED, REPLACED #3 SPARK PLUG WHILE ON BUSINESS TRIP. 4/05/2013: 97,100 MILES, COMPLAINED OF HUMMING NOISE, REPLACED BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS AT HONDA SERVICE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ANY SPEED, ROCKS WOULD ENTER THE GRILL AND DAMAGE VARIOUS COMPONENTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CONDENSER FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE FROM STOPS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND ENGINE MOUNTS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND COVERED ALL REPAIR COSTS, BUT INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE REMAINED AND THERE WERE NO OTHER REMEDIES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 13,000. TRANSMISSION JUMPS. HESITATES AND STALLS SOMEWHAT FREQUENTLY, A LOT MORE THAN TO BE EXPECTED OF A CAR ONLY 2 YEARS OLD. MORE SO AT THE LOWER GEARS WHEN ACCELERATING. RPM IS NOT CONSISTENT WITH THROTTLE INPUT. UNFORTUNATELY, IT DOES NOT TRIGGER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, SO HONDA DOES NOT SEE AN ISSUE, BUT SOMETHING IS OFF WITH THE DRIVABLE. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN WE STARTED HEARING A CRACKING NOISE COMING FROM THE SUNROOF. MY BOYFRIEND LOOKED UP TO SEE THE SUNROOF CRACKING. HE QUICKLY CLOSED THE SUNROOF COVER JUST BEFORE THE GLASS SHATTERED. NO CONSTRUCTION VEHICLES OR HEAVY EQUIPMENT WERE IN THE VICINITY. NO ROCK OR OTHER PROJECTILE HIT THE CAR. *TT I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER AND LEFT A MESSAGE FOR THE SERVICE MANAGER. I CONTACTED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE THE NEXT DAY AND GOT A CASE NUMBER. I DROPPED MY CAR OFF AT THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING MORNING WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT THE DEALER'S GENERAL MANAGER WOULD TAKE A LOOK AT IT. BEFORE LUNCH, I GOT A CALL FROM THE DEALER THAT HONDA DENIED MY CLAIM FOR A WARRANTY REPAIR, STATING IT WAS ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE. I CONTACTED HONDA AND THE REGIONAL CARE MANAGER STATED THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A SMALL ROCK. I WAS TOLD TO GO THROUGH INSURANCE. I CALLED MY INSURANCE. THEY AGREED IT WAS UNLIKELY THAT IT WAS ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE AND WOULD WANT TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE TO UNDERSTAND IF THEY SHOULD TRY TO GET MONEY BACK FROM HONDA. I DROPPED MY CAR OFF AT THE GLASS COMPANY. THE COMPANY HAD TO ORDER THE GLASS FROM HONDA AS IT'S NOT REGULAR WINDOW GLASS CARRIED BY THEIR VENDORS. WE SPOKE TO A FEW SERVICE WRITERS AND A SERVICE MANAGER - NONE HAD EVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT. THE GLASS COMPANY ALSO SAID THAT THEY NEVER SAW ANYTHING LIKE IT. SUNROOF GLASS IS THICK AND TEMPERED AND SHOULD NOT SHATTER LIKE IT DID. *TT
2010 HONDA ACCORD. PRE-MATURE REAR BRAKE WARE. I HAVE 25,000 MILES, ALL HIGHWAY. THE REAR BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED. I WENT TO HONDA. THEY SAID IT WAS MY FAULT. AND WANTED $ 250, TO FIX. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.
2010 HONDA ACCORD -- REPAIR FACILITY NOTED EXCESSIVE WEAR TO REAR BRAKE PADS AT 24,000 MILES. 10% LIFE REMAINING. FRONT BRAKE AT MORE THAN 50% REMAINING LIFE. INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY STRESSED EXTREME CONCERN WITH WEAR. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO HONDA FACILITY. HONDA TECHNICIAN INDICATED THAT THE WEAR WAS "NORMAL" FOR THIS MODEL VEHICLE. IN FRONT OF THE 2010 ACCORD THERE ARE TWO BIG HOLES CUT OUT FOR A SPORTY LOOK. EVERYDAY DRIVING TO AND FROM WORK ON THE HIGHWAY SOMETHING FLEW UP FROM OFF THE ROAD AND WENT INTO ONE OF THE OPEN AREAS AND SLICED MY AIR CONDENSER AND ALL OF MY FREON LEAKED OUT AND IT WOULDN'T BE PATCHED ENTIRE PIECE HAD TO BE REPLACED SO MY COMPLAINT IS WHY WOULD AN AREA LIKE THAT BE LEFT WIDE OPEN TO A MAIN PART OF THE A/C AND NOT A PIECE OF MESH THERE TO PROTECT THAT. IT TURNS OUT THE NEW DESIGN FOR THE HEADREST TO PUSH FORWARD IN A REAREND CRASH HAS INCLUDED A BIG PLASTIC PANEL HELD ON BY 2 METAL BARS LOCATED IN THE SEAT JUST BEHIND THE CUSHION (I REMOVED SEAT BACK TO SEE THIS). THIS BARS ATTACHED TO THE PLASTIC PULLS THE HEADREST FORWARD IF YOUR BACK IS PUSHED AGAINST THE SEAT. THE LUMBAR IS ALSO ATTACHED TO THIS PLASTIC. IF YOU SIT IN THE SEAT AND PULL THE HEADREST FORWARD YOU CAN FEEL THE LUMP GO AWAY FOR THE MOST PART. REMOVING THE PLASTIC IS THE ONLY THING THAT MADE THE SEAT COMFORTABLE. THE REAR BRAKES OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH SHOULD BE FIRST REPLACED AT ABOUT 70,000 HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 25,000 AT A COST OF ABOUT $175 DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN IN TTHAT THE BRAKES HAD EXCESS WARE BECAUSE THE BRAKING MECHANISM DIDN'T RELEASE AS THEY SHOULD. THE CAR IS ONLY ONE YEAR OLD AND MOST MILES ARE HIGHWAY MILES WITH LITTLE BRAKING. I DO NOT RIDE THE BRAKE PEDAL AND NEVER HAVE.
DRIVER'S SEAT LUMBAR DESIGN CAUSING DRIVING SAFETY ISSUES NOTE: IT SEEMS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS MORE PROMINENT FOR MALE DRIVERS VERSUS FEMALE DRIVERS. THIS PROBLEM HAS BECOME SO BAD THAT I REFUSE TO DRIVE IT PAST 1 HOUR ON THE ROAD; IT JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN. WHY IS THIS SO? BECAUSE THE DRIVER'S LUMBAR IS IMPROPERLY DESIGNED. ...MY STATEMENT COMES FROM EXPERIENCE OF PERSONALLY HAVING SEVERAL VEHICLES OVER THE PAST 30 YEARS IN ADDITION TO DRIVING RENTAL VEHICLES ON A VERY FREQUENT BASIS (I TYPICALLY PLACE MORE MILES ON RENTAL VEHICLES THAN MY PERSONAL VEHICLES) ' AND I REALLY DO ENJOY DRIVING VEHICLES ON LONG TRIPS WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE I LITERALLY GET A 'PAIN IN THE BACK'. I HAVE MADE MULTIPLE SEAT ADJUSTMENTS WITH NO SUCCESS. THE LUMBAR AREA BECOMES VERY PAINFUL WHERE IT FORCES ME TO GET OFF THE ROAD TO REST THE BACK. IF I DO NOT DO THIS I BECOME IRRITABLE (DOESN'T GO OVER WELL WITH MY SPOUSE OR THE FAMILY) AND STARTS IMPACTING MY DRIVING ABILITY. I HAVE TAKEN MEASURES TO WEAR A FLEXIBLE BACK BRACE THAT PROVIDE ADDITIONAL COMFORT, BUT THAT ONLY LASTED ANOTHER HOUR PRIOR TO THE 'PAIN IN THE BACK' RETURNING. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE (& I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED OR RENTED) I HAVE COMMUNICATED TO MY WIFE (IT IS HER VEHICLE) THAT I WILL NO LONGER DRIVE THE ACCORD EX-L EXCEPT ON SHORT TRIPS (LESS THAN 60 MINUTES). THE PHYSICAL PAIN (LEGS, BACK, HIP, ETC.) THE SEAT CAUSES IS UNACCEPTABLE AND NEEDS RESOLVED PRIOR TO MY GIVING IT ANOTHER CHANCE. I HAVE DONE SIGNIFICANT RESEARCH SINCE THE PURCHASE LOOKING FOR FIXES, ETC. INCLUDING INQUIRING WITH DEALERSHIP AND SPEAKING WITH HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH NO ASSISTANCE. THE LAST RESULT FROM THE DEALERSHIP WAS THAT THE ENGINEER DID ALSO EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM, BUT COULD NOT PROCEED FURTHER AS HONDA DID NOT HAVE A 'TECH NOTE' ON THE PROBLEM. FIRST TIME I TOOK MY HONDA ACCORD ON A TRIP WAS JANUARY 2010, FROM IDAHO TO L.A. AND BACK. BY THE TIME I GOT HOME, I HAD SUCH A PROBLEM WITH MY RIGHT LEG THAT I HAD TO HAVE SURGERY TO REPAIR A KNOT BEHIND MY KNEE. THIS CAR HAS THE WORST FRONT SEAT OF ANY CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED.
