TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,200.
THE ABOVE REFERENCED VEHICLE HAS A LEATHER WRAPPED STEERING. DURING DAYS OF SEVERE COLD (0 DEGREES OR BELOW), THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES EXTREMELY SLICK AND SOMETIMES DIFFICULT TO FIRMLY GRIP WITHOUT GLOVES. THERE WERE A FEW OCCASIONS WHEN I WAS MODERATELY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. *JS
MY ACCELERATION CONDITIONS/PROBLEMS ARE IDENTICAL TO NHTSA ID #10607907 & SEVERAL OTHERS. UPON ACCELERATION THERE IS A SEVERE HESITATION TO THE POINT OF ALMOST STALLING BEFORE IT ACCELERATES. AT 15000 MILES IT APPEARS TO BE GETTING WORSE. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY A SERVICE REP THIS WAS COMPUTER CONTROLLED AND NOT CABLE CONTROLLED AS IN THE PAST. THERE DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE A FIX TO THIS AS IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC. *TR
TRUNK LID HAS NO RESISTANCE AND HAS FALLEN ON US NUMEROUS TIMES CAUSING FACIAL/HEAD INJURIES. PROBLEM IS EXACERBATED WHEN PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY WHICH HAS A SLIGHT ELEVATION. IF LID IS NOT HELD MANUALLY, GRAVITY AND WEIGHT OF THE TRUNK LID FREE-FALLS. IT HAS BEEN RETURNED TO TWO HONDA DEALERSHIPS FOR SUPPOSED "REPAIR" OR WE ARE TOLD "THAT IS THE WAY IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE" -- AN AUTHORITATIVE STATEMENT FROM AMERICAN HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE TODAY (CASE NUMBER 04244825)." IN MY 54 YEARS OF CAR OWNERSHIP, INCLUDING MANY HONDAS, I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM.
DEAR SIR OR MADAM, I WOULD LIKE TO LODGE A COMPLAINT AGAINST THE CURRENT HEADRESTS IN THE 2014 HONDA ACCORD (AND MANY SIMILAR SEDANS.) I AM 5 FOOT 3 AND CAN'T SIT IN THE SEAT FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES WITHOUT EXPERIENCING NECK PAIN. THE HEADREST ANGLE IS TOO FAR FORWARD AND DOES NOT ALIGN WITH MY SPINE. IT PUSHES MY HEAD FORWARD. IT BECOMES VERY PAINFUL OVER TIME, AND NO SEAT ADJUSTMENT CAN MAKE IT BETTER. HONDA AND OTHER AR COMPANIES TELL ME THAT THE NHTSA REQUIRES THAT THEY INSTALL HEADRESTS AT THIS ANGLE TO ACHIEVE THE HIGHEST SAFETY RATING. BUT WHAT GOOD IS THAT IF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS ARE IN PAIN? I REALIZE THAT THIS ANGLE MAY WORK FOR PEOPLE TALLER THAN ME, BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE BETWEEN 5 FEET AND 5'5 AND THE CAR COMPANIES NEED THE ABILITY TO MAKE ADJUSTABLE HEADRESTS, OR SELECTABLE HEADRESTS WITHOUT JEOPARDIZING THEIR SAFETY RATINGS. PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO HELP SUFFERING DRIVERS LIKE ME. (MY ONLY OPTIONS ARE TO REMOVE THE HEADREST ALTOGETHER, OR TURN IT BACKWARDS, WHICH SURELY IS NOT SAFE.) I TRIED TEN CARS BEFORE BUYING THE HONDA ACCORD. ALL THE OTHER HEADRESTS WERE EVEN WORSE! (ONLY EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE CARS AND MORE SEEM TO OFFER HORIZONTALLY ADJUSTABLE HEADRESTS. GOT THE CAR BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP AFTER A BRIEF TEST DRIVE. AFTER THE SECOND TIME DRIVING THE CAR FOR A SHORT TRIP, I BEGAN FEELING SEVERE PAIN IN MY NECK/UPPER BACK AREA AND FELT THE SAME DISCOMFORT EVERY TIME I DROVE THE CAR THEREAFTER. THE SEAT BASE IS TOO DEEP NOT PROVIDING ENOUGH SUPPORT TO MY SPINE AND ALSO THE SEAT BACK IS PUSHING MY BODY FORWARD CAUSING ME TO ROUND MY NECK AND SHOULDERS FORWARD. IN ADDITION, MY HEAD CANNOT EVEN MAKE CONTACT WITH THE HEAD REST UNLESS I TILT THE HEAD BACK WHICH IS NOT A NEUTRAL POSITION. I'VE TRIED MULTIPLE ADJUSTMENTS INCLUDING BUYING EXPENSIVE SEAT SUPPORTS BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO HELP; THE SEAT JUST SEEMS TO BE POORLY DESIGNED. I AM AT THE POINT WHERE I AM WILLING TO RETURN/TRADE-IN THE VEHICLE FOR ANOTHER AT A LOSS BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO SACRIFICE MY HEALTH. PRIOR TO THIS, I DROVE A 2000 HONDA ACCORD AND THIS ISSUE NEVER OCCURRED. I HOPE YOU CAN INVESTIGATE SO HONDA CAN TAKE ACTION TO RESOLVE. *TR
VERY ANNOYING RUMBLING/VIBRATION THAT OCCURS IN THE 1700-2000 RPM RANGE WHEN THE VARIABLE CYLINDER MANAGEMENT ENGAGES. THE SEVERE IMBALANCE OF RUNNING ON ONLY 3 CYLINDERS TRANSMITS A DISTRACTING RUMBLING/ROARING VIBRATION INTO THE COCKPIT OF THE CAR. WHEN I ORIGINALLY TEST DROVE THE CAR, I DID SO IN STOP-IN-GO TRAFFIC AND ALSO BRIEFLY ON THE INTERSTATE, AND DID NOT DETECT THIS PHENOMENON UNTIL I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. AFTER EXPERIENCING THIS VIBRATION, I WROTE A DETAILED LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF AMERICAN HONDA REGARDING MY UNHAPPINESS. A COLLEAGUE OF HIS, NAMED [XXX], CONTACTED ME BUT OFFERED NO HELP. SHE ACKNOWLEDGED RECEIVING MY LETTER AND SAID THAT IT WOULD GO ON FILE. I ASKED IF IT WERE POSSIBLE TO DISENGAGE THE VARIABLE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, BUT [XXX] SAID THAT HONDA DOES NOT RECOMMEND THAT. I ASKED IF AMERICAN HONDA WOULD ALLOW ME TO SWAP BY NEW 2014 HONDA ACCORD EX-L V6 FOR A 4-CYLINDER EX-L, BUT [XXX] SAID THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE BETWEEN MY DEALER AND ME. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A HONDA V6 AGAIN AS LONG AS IT HAS ANY FORM OF VARIABLE CYLINDER MANAGEMENT (VCM). I FEEL THAT IT IS IMPORTANT TO GO ON RECORD REGARDING THIS MATTER. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL HONDA OWNER FOR THE LAST 30+ YEARS AND HAVE OWNED 5 NEW HONDA VEHICLES OVER THAT PERIOD OF TIME. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER HAD A CHROME COVERING AND WHEN THE SUN SHINED DIRECTLY ON IT, IT WOULD BLIND THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT SHE SAW WHITE SPOTS AND WAS UNABLE TO VIEW WHAT WAS IN FRONT OF HER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,540.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND LOSE POWER. IN ADDITION, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200. HEADREST IS NOT ADJUSTABLE BACKWARDS OR FORWARDS, ONLY UP AND DOWN. IT IS CURVED FORWARDS AT AN EXTREME ANGLE, AND WHEN YOU SIT IN IT, CAUSES YOU TO SIT IN A C POSITION, ALL HUNCHED OVER. AT FIRST, NOT TOO BAD. AFTER AWHILE, IT IS UNCOMFORTABLE, AND CAUSES A LOT OF NECK STRAIN, LEADING TO HEADACHES AND NECK PAIN. PLEASE FIX, HONDA! PLEASE SEND OUT REPLACEMENT HEADRESTS THAT ARE ADJUSTABLE! SIMPLE EASY, QUICK FIX, MINIMAL IMPACT. TEMPORARILY, I HAVE RESORTED TO TAKING THEM OUT, AND PUTTING THEM IN BACKWARDS, AND THEY FEEL SO MUCH BETTER!! TRUST ME, IT LOOKS AWKWARD, BUT FEELS AWESOME! *LN UPDATED 1/6/2013 *JS
ACCORD PLUG-IN. TWICE THE GAS ENGINE LOST ALMOST ALL POWER AT FREEWAY SPEED, UNABLE TO MAINTAIN PREVAILING SPEED. TURNING OFF & ON RESTORED POWER. DEALER REPORTS CODE P2602, ELECTRIC ENGINE COOLANT PUMP FAULT. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW. AND AFTER A FEW WEEKS, I REALIZED THAT THE STEERING WAS PULLING THE CAR TO THE LEFT, ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE IT WOULD TAKE LEFT CURVES IN THE ROAD UNASSISTED BY ME. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES, THEY GAVE IT A FEW ALIGNMENTS, AND SINCE THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS, THEY DENY THAT THERE IS ANY PROBLEM AT ALL. THE CAR IS DEFINITELY A LEMON, AND I AM WONDERING IF OTHER 2014 HONDA ACCORD OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION AS I MUST BE CONSTANTLY VIGILANT OR THE CAR WILL GO OFF THE ROAD TO THE LEFT. I AM TRYING TO GET SOME JUSTICE THROUGH THE NY LEMON LAW BECAUSE HONDA HA TAKEN MY MONEY AND DELIVERED TO ME A DEFECTIVE, DANGEROUS CAR. *TR
WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN "N" (NEUTRAL) FROM "D", THE KEEPS MOVING FORWARD. IT HAS DONE THIS SINCE NEW, IT'S BEEN A YEAR AND KEEPS DOING IT. I NEED TO PUT IT IN "R" AND THEN BACK TO "N" SO THAT IT DOESN'T MOVE. THIS IS A BAD THING , REALLY BAD , AS "N" IS SUPPOSE TO PUT THE CAR IN IDLE STATE BUT IT DOESN'T DO THIS. THE ENGINE SEIZED JUST FROZE AND DIED. THIS WAS HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY WHEN I WAS MAKING ANY KIND OF SHARP TURN. ON THE SECOND TO LAST OCCURRENCE 4/12/15 IT FAILED TO START AND WAS COMPLETELY DEAD WHEN I TURNED THE IGNITION KEY 5 TIMES. ON THE 6TH, IT MIRACULOUSLY STARTED. WHEN I WAS PULLING INTO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING DAY TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT THE ENGINE SEIZED AGAIN AND IT WAS STUCK FOR A SCARY MOMENT. THE SERVICE DEPT IMMEDIATELY OPEN THE HOOD AND POINTED OUT*** A KNOWN COMMON MANUFACTURING FLAW NEAR THE BATTERY, WHERE THE BOLT FOR THE BATTERY RANDOMLY LOSES CONTACT WITH THE SOURCE. HE SHOWED ME WERE IT "WOBBLES OUT OF PLACE- SEIZING THE ENTIRE CAR COMPLETELY!! THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I MADE UTURNS, TURNED CORNERS, AND PULLED IN OR OUT OF PARKING SPOTS. HOW COULD THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY FLAW BE IGNORED??!! I WAS TERRIFIED! THE REAL HORROR IS THAT THIS VERY DEALERSHIP DID AN OIL CHANGE THE WEEK PRIOR AND NO ONE CORRECTED THIS PROBLEM!!! I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW FROM THEM IN NOV. 2014.!!! THIS IS TRUE NEGLIGENCE. I AM FURIOUS. I HAD BROUGHT THE CAR IN TWICE PRIOR TO THIS TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED OVER BECAUSE IT IS MY FOURTH NEW ACCORD, AND I NEW IT WAS NOT RIGHT WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH. PLEASE HELP. I AM AFRAID FOR MY SAFETY AND LIFE. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS CAR.
