Backup camera malfunctioning. Color distortion makes it very difficult to interpret image. Problem has persisted since first occurrence (12/7/2021). An auto mechanic looked at image but could determine cause of problem. No warning lamps, messages or problems noted in self-diagnostic tests report. There was a previous recall on the software for this backup camera.
My rear brakes were reported to have been worn out and needing replacement when I last had my oil changed 12/3/2021 at the Honda dealership. I had them resurfaced this summer when taking my vehicle in for the previous oil change and routine maintenance. After reviewing several online posts and videos, I discovered several other Honda Accord owners reporting that their back brakes are wearing out much earlier than anticipated. This makes me think there is an underlying issue and defect in the braking system.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the braking system erroneously activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop. The contact indicated that during the failure no vehicles or objects were nearby to cause the collision avoidance system to activate. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000.

Everytime I drive my car for a few hours the EPS light comes on and I have to pull over and turn my car and on. I have reached out to the dealer and they refuse to fix it. It has been happening for about 2 years. Close to 3.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that various warning lights were illuminated while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was diagnosed as a computer malfunction. The contact was informed that there was no remedy for the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V771000 (Electrical System, Back Over Prevention, Visibility/Wiper, Visibility, Exterior Lighting) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Automatic braking was activated on several occasions when there was no car or object in sight. This happened twice on the interstate at 70 mph speeds and once along a 40 mph road. Thankfully nobody was close behind or i would have been rear ended and hurt. The dealer says they have no complaints of this issue. Now every time i start the car i turn of the forward collision braking, because i don't trust this software Honda uses. Honda needs to do a software update to deactivate this until they can figure out what the problem is. There were no warning lights prior to or now on this car.
While driving on highway bridge at highway speeds (65 mph) the sunroof glass suddenly exploded and shattered. The interior shade was closed, so no glass entered the vehicle. There was a loud bang and then wind could be heard coming through the sunroof. There was no apparent damage to the sunroof glass prior to this incident and there was no evidence that an object had hit the roof of the vehicle. There was no other vehicle in front of or beside this vehicle at the time of the incident. No object was seen coming at the vehicle prior to the incident. The hole in the glass was nearly the entire size of the sunroof opening. Pictures are attached. Had the interior shade not have been closed, this incident could have been far worse since it happened while driving at fast speed across a high bridge. A safety recall should be investigated.
Collision Braking Mitigation System experienced two errors (descriptions unknown). Received error message warning on display panel, but no description of errors. CMBS, LKAS, speed limit sign sensing, etc. all failed. Turning vehicle off and on several times did not restore the system. Vehicle drove fine, but all safety features were disabled.
While driving a about 40 mph on a clear road, the car started braking automatically and almost stopped. I was worried I would be hit from behind.
I was traveling about 45 mph and all of a sudden my adaptive brake system and predictive cruse control lights came on.
The In-car infotainment suddenly goes blank (black screen) after changing from reverse drive to Drive mode. I have to stop car put in parking and then screen comes back or else I have to un plug the mobile while driving and re plug to car play. This puts me in danger while driving.
I was driving out of nowhere all the lights came out toke it to the dealer they fixed 2 week later I turn on my car and the same problem came out
Secondary restraint system warning light keeps coming on.
I read about Investigation PE22-003 and wanted to add to that investigation. There’s a small hill near my house where the automatic braking system almost always tells me I’m about to crash. The brakes are never applied because I figure I crest the hill before I get close enough that it brakes for me. But it still doesn’t seem to work quite right.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated multiple warning lights were illuminated intermittently. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, but the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 28,000.
I am the owner of a 2018 Honda accord purchased from Hillside Honda in Jamaica, NY on February of 2018. In 2021 started to experience issues with my vehicle while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked, loss motive power, switched to limp mode with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle failed to properly accelerate while in limp mode. After stopping the vehicle, the check engine warning light disappeared and the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer baron Honda located in Patchogue, NY for a routine oil change, and, to be diagnosed. The dealer informed me that the failure was caused by damage to a fuel injector that would cost approx. $2500 to repair. The dealers diagnosis of the fuel injector issue was incorrect and the dealer later admitted that the fuel injector did not need to be changed. At the time of the dealers initial diagnosis i declined repair of the fuel injector and just received an oil change. My intention was to get a 2nd opinion from another Honda dealership as the vehicle was 3 years old. Due to covid it was difficult to bring my vehicle to another dealer immediately & i would be responsible for the cost of another diagnostic. The failure subsided for a short time but than a few months later the same issue recurred. I then became aware of a recall to the fuel pump to the same make & model vehicle which the manufacturer informed me that my vin # did not match a fuel pump recall. While still experiencing on & off issues with my car relating to limp mode since 2021 I filed 2 cases with American Honda in 2023 & was denied. In December 2023 American Honda finally told me that my vehicle had a known recall to its fuel pump but the parts are in back order. At this time my vehicle still has issues with the engine limp mode that may/may not be related to the recall. I request that Honda remedy the issue. I demand either a full repair of my vehicle engine to resolve the limp mode issue, OR a new vehicle
The construction of the driver’s seat in this 2018 Honda Accord is poorly made. There is not enough padding in the seat to protect the body from the mechanical steel inner workings of the seat. I can feel the inner workings of the seat when I drive this car. I previously owned a Honda CRV and I know that this is NOT normal. The CRV was and still is a very comfortable vehicle as our daughter now owns it. There would not be any protection for the driver of this 2018 Honda Accord upon impact with another vehicle. Now I know why this vehicle had only 5161 miles on it when we purchased it July 12, 2021. It is THAT uncomfortable. I only drive it to the grocery store and back. I suspect that was the case with the previous owner as well. Otherwise, this car looks to be in pristine condition as it obviously was garage kept and still is garage kept. It feels like a jalopy.
One day all the car warning lights came on. After I backed out of the driveway, I placed the car in drive and tried to accelerate. When I stepped on the gas pedal the car barely accelerated. It barely moved. I turned of the engine and turned it back on again and the car was ok again, but this keeps happening from time to time. I've had the car checked a few times, but mechanics weren't sure what's wrong with the car. They keep getting a misfire code on number one, but after checking the spark plugs they said nothing is wrong with the spark plugs.
I bought the car from a Honda dealer in Babylon, Long Island. I have interior entertainment issue with the car play and equipment, which I have been complaining for a long time and software update are being done only to specific model under same trim. I have the same issues as addressed in the Honda updates but my car is not getting updated. The last update was in April, 2018, as displayed in my car android version but the record with dealer says 2020 update has been installed and 2021 is incomplete. There is rattling issue with the rear speakers when I keep volume above 13.
Unexpected CMBS activation. There were no cars in front of me.
When accelerating my vehicle it does not pick up speed as it should and there is a humming noise when doing so.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, there were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact was unable to access several features in the vehicle during the failure. Additionally, the contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle would shake and vibrate abnormally. The spark plugs and rear sensors replaced by an independent mechanic however, the failure persisted. The local dealer was contact and informed of the failure however, the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
This morning on my drive to work my car started locking and unlocking by itself and when I got out of my car and locked it the lights did not flash when it was being locked or beep like its supposed to. My car still locks but it seems like an electrical issue is going on.
When I'm driving the braking warning flashes out of the blue and there is no one in front of me. Then it goes away. Also randomly my infotainment system just turns off and on out of the blue as well.
Starter Problems. Car was slow to crank/start. Thought it was the battery. Had the battery and alternator checked and they are good. It was diagnosed as a bad starter. More than $1,000 to replace. In more than 40 years of driving, I’ve never had to replace a starter. Especially in a 3 year old car. A quick check of the internet says this is a common problem, unique with series of Honda’s. This quick developing problem can leave you stranded. Bad design. Honda should cover their design flaws.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled, and several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact attempted to drive the vehicle off the road, and the engine seized. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while driving on a busy highway. While attempting to restart the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that due to the failure, the vehicle was almost involved in a crash. The contact stated that drivers were shouting and were very aggressive. The contact was concerned for his safety and considered calling the Police for assistance. The two nearby drivers attempted to jumpstart the vehicle and assisted with pushing the vehicle off the road. The tow truck arrived on the scene and attempted to jumpstart the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to start. The tow truck driver determined that the vehicle failed to start due to a possible fuel pump failure. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with fuel pump failure. The contact was advised to tow the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was repaired; however, the contact was not informed of the cause of the failure until after the repair was completed. The contact requested the diagnostic information and was informed that the failure was fuel pump failure. In addition, the contact stated that an unknown gasket needed to be replaced and there was evidence of a coolant leak. The contact stated that because of the failure the vehicle was towed three times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 88,630.
The adaptive cruise and emergency braking systems. Driving on the highway the car suddenly brakes as if a car is right in front of you. There is no car in front. The dealer has not been able to confirm as this happens so at random. There was no warning that the system would suddenly brake. This has happened 3-4 times in the past year
Purchased a brand new 2018 Honda Accord I’ve only had it for 3 years and the paint is chipping. I’ve contacted the dealer where purchased and they stated it’s out of the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty and won’t do anything about it. Opened a case with American Honda motor Corp and still haven’t heard anything back from the regarding my vehicle paint issue.
Driving in moderate to heavy rain in Ozarks. Car in front. Accelerated hard (under turbo boost) and pulled in left lane to pass. As soon as I got next to car in right lane, my car automatically braked very hard. It then released brake. All kinds of warning lights went off, engine outline (misfire) light was on. Car was in some kind of limp mode. Slowed considerably. Could barely accelerate. Proceeded to drive in this mode at approximately 50 mph for one mile until spot to pull over. Pulled over and shut car off for 30 second. Restarted car and everything was normal. Returned home within one week (400 miles) Checked trouble codes, none present.
