There are 12 owner-reported suspension complaints for the 2018 Honda Accordin NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
My 2018 Honda Accord has become unsafe to drive. The car will not go over 15 mph, all the warning lights on the dashboard are on, and the engine and transmission feel shaky. The entire car shakes when I try to drive it, and it seems like multiple systems are failing at once. This happened suddenly and has made the car undriveable. My safety was put at risk because the loss of power happened while I was on the road. The problem has been looked at by my independent mechanic, but it has not been resolved. The vehicle is available for inspection.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low tire pressure warning light illuminated. The contact stated that after inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware that the inner chords of the front driver's tire were showing. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the camber arms of the front, rear, upper, and lower arms had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The mechanic also informed the contact that the front and rear alignment of the vehicle needed to be performed and all the tires needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.
Vibration in car took it to dealership but still can't figure out what's causing to vibrate so much when driving and idling.
The right side, passenger side, front control arm has a crack which is propagating across the structure. I am concerned about loss of steering control if the structure fractures completely. I found the crack during an oil change. I am the only person aware of the issue. I have NOT had it inspected by the service department at a Honda dealer. I plan to replace this control arm.
Front suspension makes rattling noise when driving over small bumps. Additionally, the suspension system makes loud knock sound when coming to a full stop.
When Tpms light comes on, all safety features including cruise control become disabled. Lane assist and collision safety features become disabled. On top of that, I have had Honda look at my rear end after they replaced a rear upper control arm after being in a ditch and at 246,000 current miles, I have replaced my tires 16 times due to the rear tires ripping the tread off between 10-15k. If there was nothing else wrong, why have I spent between $10,000-$15,000 miles on tires? I have had numerous alignments at Honda and elsewhere. Marion Honda claims it’s normal! I was told I can put adjustable control arms on. I have met other Honda accord sport 1.5t owners with 50k miles on one set of tires, yet I can’t get more than 15k on the rear tires. Clearly something is bent or incorrect currently I am re replacing the upper control arm.. They say the alignment rack does not flag anything. I have bought between Goodyear, Michelin, and Pirelli tires they also replaced a turbo, only for a few months later to have a pressure problem that Findlay Honda found I was missing an oring in the turbo or intercooler. How? Orings do not call out. Fast forward 18 months and another bad turbo on this lemon!
20,000 MILES FRONT STRUTS ARE BAD,50,000 MILES FUEL INJECTORS WENT OUT. 80,000 EGR, EMISSIONS AND LOSS OF POWER. ON A HIGH END TOURING, CLEAR COAT CAME OFF RIMS, RADIO AND HUD IS SPORADIC RADIO TURNS OFF AND ON WHEN DRIVING, ALL WHEN DRIVING ON INTERSTATE,
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle in for service, she was made aware of the abnormal wear of the brake pads and rotors. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with all the wheel bearings. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 69,000.
AT 49,000 MILES I'M ON MY SECOND SET OF TIRES AND NEEDING A NEW SET. MY SERVICEMAN RECOMMENDED I ADD A CAMBER KIT TO MY CAR IN THE REAR (REAR WHEELS) OR I'LL HAVE TO KEEP REPLACING MY TIRES. THIS IS GETTING VERY EXPENSIVE. I HAVE MY TIRES CHECKED AND ROTATED EVERY OIL CHANGE.
1. The component/system that failed, malfunctioned, or is defective is unknown. The clinking/rattling noise appears to be coming from the cabin and the right side of the vehicle. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. My safety is put at risk each time I drive the vehicle. The noise sounds like a loose component or system; consumer does not feel comfortable driving the vehicle on the highway. 3. Yes, the problem has been reproduced and confirmed by a dealer; a Honda service manager test-drove the vehicle on 8/9/2021 and compared the noise to same/like model; both showed the same noises. 4. No, the vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, even though the consumer made a request for the manufacturer (American Honda) to do so. 5. Yes, there were symptoms of the problem prior to the failure; the rattling noise was soft at first, but then became progressively louder.
MY VEHICLE HAS MISSING STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SUSPENSION STRUT TOWER. IT APPEARS THE ROBOT THAT BONDS THE PIECES OF METAL TOGETHER WITH ADHESIVE EITHER HAD AN AIR BUBBLE IN THE LINE WHEN THIS VEHICLE WAS MADE OR THERE WAS SOME OTHER DEFECT. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS EXTREMELY ROUGH AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BY HONDA TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. I ALSO HAD TO HAVE BUBBLES FIXED IN THE PAINT ON THE TRUNK LID. THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO USE BECAUSE IT DOES NOT DETECT VEHICLES AHEAD AND ACCELERATES RAPIDLY OR APPLIES THE BRAKES ABRUPTLY FOR NO REASON. AMERICAN HONDA WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT IN THE SUSPENSION STRUT TOWER ADHESIVE BUT REFUSED TO SEND AN ENGINEER TO LOOK AT THE CAR. IN MY OPINION, ANY MISSING STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE USED TO JOIN METAL, ESPECIALLY ON A HIGHLY DRESSED PLACE SUCH AS THE STRUT TOWER, COULD EASILY BECOME A SAFETY DEFECT. I WOULD PREFER MY VEHICLE BE BOUGHT BACK FROM HONDA AS IT APPEARS TO BE A LEMON.
MY CAR `COLLISION MITIGATION BRAKING SYSTEM` HAS GONE OUT SEVERAL TIMES. MY CAR HAS RATTLING SOUND FROM THE SOUND SYSTEM IN COLD DAYS. MY CAR ALSO HAS RATTLING SOUND WHEN DRIVING ON ROAD BUMPS.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
