2002 HONDA CIVIC INVOLVED IN VEHICLE ACCIDENT.*MR *JB
CONSUMER IS LOOKING FOR A RECALL ON 2002 HONDA CIVIC RELATED TO SRS SYSTEM. THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND WANTS TO KNOW WHAT MIGHT BE THE CAUSE. *JB
THE SEAT BELT DOES NOT FULLY RETRACT, IT ONLY GOES ABOUT HALF WAY IN BEFORE SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPING. IT THEN GETS STUCK IN THE DOOR WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR. I WOULD EXPECT THAT THIS WOULD WEAKEN THE BELT. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FROM DAY ONE. I'VE ALREADY HAD THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO FIX THIS AND MANY OTHER PROBLEMS, AND, EVEN THOUGH I HAD AN APPOINTMENT, THEY DECIDED THAT THEY WERE TOO BUSY TO LOOK INTO ANY PROBLEMS. HONDA HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED MY "CONCERN" SUBMITTED VIA THE WEB BEFORE CHRISTMAS. *AK
WHILE MAKING A TURN ON HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE WILL SHUTDOWN WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THE DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK THE CONSUMER STATES THAT THE ENGINE STALLS AFTER MAKING TURNS AND PUSHING IN CLUTCH TO DOWNSHIFT. THE ONLY WAY TO RECOVER THE OPERATION OF THE POWER BRAKES AND THE POWER STEERING IS TO ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO STALL COMPLETELY AND THEN POPPING THE CLUTCH OR CRANKING WITH THE KEY. IF THE CLUTCH IS ALLOWED OUT WHEN A STALL STARTS, THEN THE VEHICLE WILL LURCH AND SHUTTER UNTIL IT RECOVERS WELL AFTER A CORNER. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL THE 1.7 L 5 SPEED CIVIC LINE. AMERICAN HONDA IS WORKING ON THE PROBLEM AND THINK IT IS IN THE PROGRAMMING OF FUEL INJECTION. *SCC
WHILE APPLYING LIT PURSUER TO BRAKE PEDAL BROKE/ GRABBED HARD, THEN RELEASED. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED, AND REPLACED BRAKES FIVE TIMES, BUT PROBLEM RETURNED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHR INFORMATION.*AK
CONSUMERS COMPLAINT IS ONE ON THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN IN THE DRIVERS SEAT, CONSUMERS KNEE TOUCHED THE IGNITION AND CONSUEMR CANNOT SEE THE BUMPER WHEN LOOKING OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD. VEHICLE IS THE LX SERIES. *JG
TRAVELING ABOUT 35-40 MPH ON HIGHWAY RAMP, HIT BRAKES TO ENTER CURVE, FELT TRACTION SLIPPING, CAR LOSS CONTROL & SLID ALL OVER ROAD. HIT SIDE CONCRETE BARRIER AT ABOUT 20-25 MPH, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, MY HUSBAND SMASHED THE WINDSHIELD WITH HIS HEAD AND GOT A CONCUSSION. ROAD WAS WET BUT HAD NO STANDING WATER, OUTSIDE TEMP MID TO UPPER 40'S. THIS APPEARS UNEXPLAINABLE BASED ON CONDITIONS- WE FEEL THERE MUST HAVE BEEN A MECHANICAL FAILURE, OTHERWISE SOMETHING WASN'T DESIGNED PROPERLY. NO CAR, ESPECIALLY WITH ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, SHOULD'VE REACTED THIS WAY UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES. CONSUMER STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT BACK INTO POSITION AND CAN POSSIBLY CAUSE THE SEAT BELT TO BECOME INOPERATIVE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. TS SCC
CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ACCELARATOR. ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES AND DEACCELERATES PERIODICLY. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THAT WAS THE WAY THE VEHICLE WAS MADE. TS
THE VEHICLE HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE HOPPED TO THE RIGHT. WHEN THE DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES FORCEFULLY THE VEHICLE SLID TO THE RIGHT INSTEAD OF FORWARD. *NLM
PROBLEMS WITH 2002 HONDA CIVIC TRANSMISSION.*MR WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ON A SMALL SLOP, IT MOVED FORWARD ALL THE WAY WITH THE GEAR SHIFT IN REVERSE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FACED UPHILL, THE VEHICLE ROLL BACK ALL THE WAY WITH THE GEAR SHIFT IN DRIVE, THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE VEHICLE SHOULD STAY STILL IF THE GAS WAS NOT BEING APPLIED. *PH *JB
THE SUSPENSION OF THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN LOWERED BY DEALERSHIP,RESULTING IN STEERING PROBLEMS. THE ABILITY TO MAKE TURNS WERE MORE DIFFICULT THAN NORMAL. TIRES SQUEALED WHEN TURNING CORNERS. ALSO, ALTERED HEADLIGHTS, WHICH CAUSED BULBS TO BREAK. *AK
ELECTRONIC DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED BY THEMSELVES WITHIN 5 TO 10 SECONDS. THIS COULD CAUSE A PROBLEM WHEN GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEY STILL IN THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER, WHO STATED THERE WAS NO SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM. *AK WHEN THE KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION, THE DOORS LOCKED BY THEMSELVES. *JB
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES VEHICLE VIBRATED. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO WORN PARTS, AND REPLACED THEM FOUR TIMES. HOWEVER, PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
