**AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AFTER DRIVING OVER POTHOLE** I DRIVE A 2008 HONDA CIVIC 2DR WITH 160K MILES. ON MARCH 15, 2018 I WAS TRAVELING NORTHBOUND I-294 WHEN MY VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH A POTHOLE AT APPROX. 65 MPH AND THE DRIVER CURTAIN AND DRIVER SEAT AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE IMPACT WASN'T HARD ENOUGH TO DAMAGE MY WHEEL OR BODY OF THE CAR. THE POTHOLE SHOULD NOT OF INTERRUPTED THE SRS SYSTEM. THIS IS A RESULT OF A DEFECT IN HONDA'S AIR BAG/RESTRAINT SYSTEM.
VEHICLE HAS A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK DUE TO A POROSITY ISSUE AS A RESULT OF POOR MANUFACTURING AND QA PRACTICES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY, THE ENGINE WOULD OVERHEAT, AND ANTIFREEZE AND OIL LEAKED FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ROUTE 22 HONDA (1480 N. BROAD ST., HILLSIDE, NJ) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE HEAD GASKET VALVE COVER WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 207,000.
ENGINE BLOCK CRACKED AND LEAKING ANTIFREEZE. JUST PAST WARRANTY BY 3 WEEKS. KNOWN DEFAULT BUT HONDA WON'T COVER IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V545000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER (DCH HONDA OF NANUET, 10 NY-304, NANUET, NY 10954, (845) 367-4380) WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED. UPON ARRIVAL, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEALER INFORMED HER THAT THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS FROM THE DATE OF ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
AS I WAS DRIVING MY CAR, MY HEATER HAD GONE COLD AND MY TEMPRATURE GAUGE SHOT INTO THE RED AND STEAM BEGAN TO COME UP FROM UNDER MY HOOD, I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO LIFT MY HOOD AND STEAM COMES ROLLING OUT. I HAD THOUGHT FOR WEEKS IT WAS A WATER PUMP OR LINE ISSUE AND TRIED FIXING IT BUT NOTHING HELPED, A MECHANIC SHOP FINALLY TOLD ME IT WAS A CRACK IN MY BLOCK. I DONE RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT ITS BEEN A HUGE ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL CAR. THE ISSUE OF LOSING COOLANT AND PROBLEMS WITH OVERHEATING BEGAN IN JANUARY OF 2018.
I BOUGHT A SET OF FOUR(4) DEXTERO DTR1 205/55/R16 TIRES IN FEBRUARY 2017. WITHIN A YEAR 3 OF THE 4 TIRES HAD ROT ON THE INSIDE WALL, WHICH WAS NOT VISIBLE, AND THE TIRE BLEW UP WHILE DRIVING IT. WHILE RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM I LEARNED THAT OTHER DEXTERO DTR1 MODEL TIRES HAVE BEEN FOUND TO HAVE THE EXACT SAME DEFECT MY TIRES HAD, BUT BECAUSE MY TIRE IS A DIFFERENT SIZE TIRE IT IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. SINCE MY TIRES HAVE THE SAME DEFECTS THAT THE OTHER TIRES DID, AND BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT THIS DEFECT CAN KILL PEOPLE, I BELIEVE THAT THIS RECALL SHOULD COVER THESE SAME TIRES AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD IN GOOD FAITH REPLACE THESE TIRES WITH SOME THAT WON'T PUT MY LIFE AT RISK.
INCIDENT OCCURRED 11-DEC 2017 COMMUTING INTO WORK AT AROUND 6:45 AM ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 60 MPH. CLEAR SKIES, 42, NO TRUCKS NEARBY, MODERATE CAR TRAFFIC. SUNROOF SHATTERED. THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED, THE SUNROOF COVER WAS OPEN. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF BEING HIT WITH AN OBJECT. THE CRACKS ARE NOT RADIATING FROM A SINGLE POINT, BUT ARE RANDOM. GLASS IS BOWING OUTWARDS, ALTHOUGH NOT YET COMPLETELY BREACHED AS OF 8 AM. STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY IS COMPLETELY COMPROMISED THOUGH, ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE SUNROOF COMPLETELY COLLAPSES ON ITSELF.
TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A POST CARD INDICATING THAT I SHOULD FILE A COMPLAINT EVEN IF THE AIRBAG DID NOT INFLATE. I CANNOT ENTER A DATE AS DESCRIBED IN THIS DOCUMENT FOR LACK OF A BETTER DATE I AM INCLUDING THE DATE I AM FILING OUT THIS FORM.
ENGINE DEVELOPED A CRACK IN THE SIDE AND A COOLANT LEAK. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND HONDA HAS A WARRANTY CAMPAIGN BUT WON'T REPLACE MY ENGINE DUE TO A SALVAGE TITLE BECAUSE OF A THEFT RECOVERY, NOT AN ENGINE REBUILD OR ENGINE DAMAGE. THE CAR ONLY HAS 42000 MILES. THE REPLACEMENT HAS BEEN QUOTED AT ABOUT $4400. THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN IS 10-048 AND I THINK HONDA IS JUST AVOIDING RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE THE ENGINE DUE TO THE SALVAGE TITLE TECHNICALITY. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HONDA AND I OWN THREE NOW. I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW ABOUT THE RISKS OF POOR QUALITY ENGINEERING AND UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT HONDA HAS DISPLAYED IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE. THERE NEEDS TO BE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED SIX DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT IT AND A FREE STARTED LEAKING OUT TOOK IT TO HONDA AND I FIND THAT IT IS A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK WHICH THEY HAVE EXTENDED AN EIGHT YEAR WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS UNFORTUNATELY I BOUGHT THIS IN NOVEMBER AND THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE DATE WAS OCTOBER SO IT'S ONE MONTH OUT OF WARRANTY AND I'M OUT $3500. HONDA SAYS EVEN IF IT WAS ONE DAY OUT THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT WHEN IT IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT OF CHEAP METAL AND THEY KNOW OF THIS PROBLEM
TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 15 TO 20 MILES AN HOUR IN A EMPTY PARKING LOT AN WENT OVER A PARKING CURB. THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG OPENED UP AND HIT MY CHEST CAUSING MINOR POWDER BURNS TO MY RIGHT ARM AND A SMALL CUT. THE CAR HAD NO DAMAGE AND CAME TO IMEDIATE STOP BEFORE ANOTHER CURB IN THE LOT.

THIS IS THE THIRD TIME MY PASSENGER SIDE MOTOR MOUNT HAS COMPLETELY BROKEN OFF!!
THE HOOD WAS REPAINTED DURING A RECALL A YEAR AFTER PURCHASE. LAST YEAR, WE SAW CLOUDY WHITE PATCHES ON THE TRUNK AND THE PAINT/COATING COMING OFF (THE CAR IS BLACK). NOW THERE ARE LARGE WHITE PATCHES ON THE TRUNK, HOOD, AND THERE IS PAINT PEELING UNDER ONE OF THE DOORS. IT IS SPREADING QUICKLY ACROSS EACH AREA.
THIS IS THE LAST AMOUNT DUE THIS MONTH FOR MY VEHICLE AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE ENGINE CRACKED AND LEAKING FLUIDS. I WAS TOLD ALL HONDA MODELS DURING THE YEARS OF 2005-09 ARE EFFECTED BY ENGINE CRACKED. SO I HAVE A PAID OFF CAR WHICH I AM UNABLE TO UTILIZE AND ALL ENGINES ARE EFFECTED BY IT, IF I DO GET ANOTHER ENGINE NEW OR USED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DAVID MCDAVID HONDA OF FRISCO DEALER LOCATED AT 1601 DALLAS PKWY, FRISCO, TX 75034 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FLOOR WIRE HARNESS FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INFLATOR WAS REPLACED BY THE SAME DEALER PER A MANUFACTURER RECALL ONE YEAR AGO. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 151,820.
MY 2008 HONDA CIVIC CURRENTLY HAS 107,460 +/- MILES ON IT AND THE ENGINE BLOCK HAS CRACKED. THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED BY MY MECHANIC. I THEN DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. NHTSA REF# 10030876, TSB REF#SB-08-044 AND SERVICE BULLETIN 10-048. HONDA PUT A 10 YR EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE ENGINES FROM THE ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE. MY CAR WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED ON 09/27/2007. MY CAR BROKE DOWN ON 10/02/2017, 5 DAYS PAST THE WARRANTY PERIOD. HONDA HAS REFUSED TO REPLACE MY ENGINE BLOCK, GIVING NO GRACE PERIOD ON THIS WARRANTY. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND MY CAR ONLY HAS 107,XXX MILES WHICH IS NOT A LOT BY TODAY'S STANDARDS.I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AND FURTHERMORE HONDA SHOULD HAVE PUT A MILEAGE AMOUNT ON THE WARRANTY AS WELL.
ENGINE SEEMS TO BE LEAKING RADIATOR FLUID FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK DUE TO POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP / MATERIALS. THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY CONCERN THAT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE THE ENGINE TO HAVE A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WHILE UNDER POWER. HONDA CURRENTLY HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS 10-048. HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT COVER ALL VEHICLES. IN MY CASE, I HAVE A VEHICLE THAT HAS SALVAGED TITLE DUE TO DAMAGE IN REAR RIGHT QUARTER PANEL. NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ENGINE. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO BE CHECKED, THE HONDA DEALER DID STATE THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS THE EXACT PROBLEM AS 10-048, BUT WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY DUE TO IT'S SALVAGE TITLE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM DUE TO THE HIGH RISK POTENTIAL OF A DEADLY ACCIDENT. THIS SHOULD BE REVIEWED BY NHTSA AND ESCALATED AS A RECALL ITEM.
DEFECTIVE ENGINE MOUNT CAUSING LOUD VIBRATION WHEN STARTING CAR IN COLD TEMPERATURES. 57K MILES, NO ABNORMAL USE. IN SEARCHING THE INTERNET, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR HONDA CIVICS IN THE MID-LATE 2000S, LIKELY MANUFACTURING/DESIGN PROBLEM.
MY SON WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND CRASHED. THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T WORK ON THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY ALL LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD TURNED ON. CALLED 911 FOR ASSISTANCE SINCE COULDN'T EXIT THE VEHICLE. CAR WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP NEAR WHERE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. SHOP DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE SEIZED DUE TO ENGINE OVERHEATING. AFTER I FOUND OUT THAT THE ENGINE OVERHEATED AND SEIZED I TOOK MY CAR TO HONDA FOR DIAGNOSIS BECAUSE SOMETIME AFTER I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE, I WAS NOTIFIED BY HONDA THAT THE ENGINE MAY EXPERIENCE COOLANT SEEPAGE THAT CAN RESULT IN ENGINE OVERHEATING, THUS AMERICAN HONDA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY OF THE ENGINE TO 10 YEARS FROM ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE WITH NO MILEAGE LIMIT. MY CAR WAS ONLY 9 YEARS OLD WITH ONLY 64,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. HONDA SERVICE ACKNOWLEDGED THE ENGINE OVERHEATED DUE TO COOLANT SEEPAGE BUT UNFORTUNATELY THEY REFUSED TO HONOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THEY OFFERED ORIGINALLY. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH HONDA FOR NOT RECALLING THESE ENGINES FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, INSTEAD OF PUTTING THEIR CUSTOMERS IN DANGER OF VERY SERIOUS SITUATIONS SUCH AS THE ONE I DESCRIBED.
MOTOR MOUNT FAILURE. CAUSING EXCESSIVE VIBRATION AND AFFECTING HANDLING OF VEHICLE
THE PAINT ON THE ROOF AND THE HOOD OF MY HONDA CIVIC STARTED PEELING OFF LAST WINTER AND IT'S GOTTEN REALLY BAD. I RANDOMLY FOUND OUT ABOUT A PAINT RECALL THAT HONDA HAD A FEW YEARS AGO AND CONTACTED HONDA ABOUT IT. CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME THAT THEY CANNOT ASSIST ME BECAUSE THE RECALL IS CLOSED AS OF 2014 AND THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THE PAINT. I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL REGARDING THE PROBLEM WITH HONDA'S FAULTY PAINT AT MY OLD OR NEW MAILING ADDRESS.
MY PAINT HAS BEEN FADING FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW. EVERY TIME I BRING MY CAR TO HONDA THEY TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. IT LOOKS TERRIBLE. MY CAR IS STILL IN VERY GOOD CONDITION, BUT THE FADED PAINT ALL OVER THE BODY OF THE CAR IS A COMPLETE EYE SORE. I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THIS CAR FOR MANY MORE YEARS (EVEN WHEN I PURCHASE A NEW ONE)I SEE MANY MANY HONDA CIVICS FROM 2008 THAT LOOK THE SAME. I WANT TO BUY ANOTHER HONDA IN THE NEAR FUTURE, BUT BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT I DON'T THINK I CAN. IT IS EMBARRASSING FOR ME, AND FOR HONDA.

THE DRIVER SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE LEFT EAR, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE LOCAL DEALER, CAWOOD HONDA 2516 PINE GROVE AVENUE, PORT HURON, MI 48060) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V346000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 108,000.
CAR BEGAN TO OVERHEAT WITH NORMAL USE. IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX THE ISSUE, A REPUTABLE LOCAL REPAIR SHOP REPLACED PARTS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE, NOT FULLY DIAGNOSING THE ISSUE THATS FOUND WITHIN BULLETIN 10-048. THE SHOP CORRECTLY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE, HOWEVER WERE NOT AWARE OF THE RECALL. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED WITH GENUINE HONDA PARTS. I WENT THROUGH THE RECALL REFUND PROCESS FOR 8 FULL MONTHS AFTER SUPPLYING ALL OF THE RELEVANT INVOICES, VEHICLE MAINTENANCE HISTORY, ETC. AND WAS DENIED ON THE BASIS THAT THE INVOICES HAD THE PREVIOUS DIAGNOSIS LISTED THAT WAS INCORRECT, BELOW THE CORRECT DIAGNOSIS OF A CRACKED ENGINE. HONDA IS NOT HONORING THEIR RECALL REFUND IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. HONDA THEN ATTEMPTED TO OFFER ME A COUPON FOR FUTURE SERVICE REPAIRS, CLEARLY SHOWING THAT THEY RECOGNIZE I HAD A CASE, HOWEVER SIMPLY DID NOT WANT TO PAY OUT THE PRICE OF THE REPLACED ENGINE. NOTE THE DATE LISTED BELOW IS THE DATE MY CLAIM WAS FINALLY REJECTED. AFTER WAITING 8 MONTHS.
TAKATA RECALL- MY HONDA WAS TOTALED AND MY AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED.
MY CAR PAINT AND CLEARCOAT STARTED FEELING OFF ON ROOF AND HOOD AND SPREADING ALL OVER BODY PARTS

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC (A PLUS AUTOS 5002 WEST OKMULGEE STREET, MUSKOGEE, OK 74401 PHONE: 918-687-9693) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAD GASKET FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 195,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE IN AUGUST OF 2016. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I AM HAVING AN ONGOING PROBLEM WHERE MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGINS TO REV UP AND ACCELERATE FORWARD. THIS ISSUE FIRST HAPPENED IN FEBRUARY 2017. I WAS IN A FAST-FOOD DRIVE THRU WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV UP TO 3000 RPMS. I SHIFTED INTO PARK WHICH CAUSED IT TO REV AT 5000. AT THAT POINT, I SHUT OFF THE CAR. I STARTED IT AGAIN AND THE CAR WAS FINE. I CONTACTED HONDA OF NORTH AMERICA. THEY SENT AN ATTORNEY OUT TO TALK TO ME AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. HONDA KEPT MY CAR MOST OF THE DAY AND TOLD ME THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THEY EVEN INSINUATED THAT MAYBE I HAD MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL... I'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 15 YEARS. I THINK I WOULD KNOW IF MY FOOT WAS ON THE GAS PEDAL... THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WAS SAFE AND THAT IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN I SHOULD CONTACT THEM... THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN ON APRIL 24TH AT LAX AIRPORT. I WAS AT THE TOLL BOTH PAYING FOR MY PARKING AFTER A TRIP. THE CAR BEGAN TO REV UP JUST LIKE BEFORE. I THROUGH THE CAR IN PARK AND IT ALMOST RED-LINED. I SHUT THE CAR OFF. THE WOMAN AT THE TOLL BOTH WITNESSES THE INCIDENT. I TOLD HER TO GET HER SUPERVISOR AND ANYONE ELSE THAT COULD COME OVER. HONDA DID NOT TAKE ME SERIOUSLY THE FIRST TIME CLEARLY! HER SUPERVISOR CAME OVER. I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO HIM AND ASKED HIM TO FILM THE CAR AS I STARTED IT UP AGAIN. THE FINAL TIME I STARTED IT, THE CAR REVVED NORMAL. I PAID MY FEE AND THE WOMAN RAISED THE GATE. AS I PULLED OUT, THE CAR JERKED FORWARD AND PULLED ME INTO TRAFFIC. I WAS NEARLY T-BONED BY A TAXI. I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE CAR. IT WAS FINE AFTER THAT. I CONTACTED HONDA AND THEY REFUSED TO REINSPECT THE CAR UNLESS I WOULD PAY OUT OF POCKET. THE CAR HAS NOT DONE IT SINCE. THANK YOU.

I WAS CONTACTED LAST SUMMER (2016) REGARDING A RECALL ON MY AIRBAG VIA A LETTER IN THE MAIL. I CALLED TO MAKE A REPAIR APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER, THEY TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS IN YET AND THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK WHEN THEY ARRIVED. I CALLED AGAIN IN THE FALL (2016) AND WAS TOLD MORE OR LESS THAT THEY WERE "BUSY" AND HAD A LOT OF CARS TO REPAIR AND I SHOULD CONTINUE TO WAIT. I CALLED AGAIN IN THE FALL 2016 AND WAS TOLD THE PERSON HANDLING THE AIRBAG RECALL WAS BUSY OR UNAVAILABLE AND TO CALL BACK AGAIN. I'VE RECEIVED A SECOND NOTICE IN THE MAIL IN APRIL 2017 REGARDING MY AIR BAG RECALL. THIS NOTICE SAYS THAT IF THE HONDA DEALER HAS FAILED OR UNABLE TO REMEDY THE DEFECT IN MY VEHICLE WITHOUT CHARGE WITHIN A REASONABLE PERIOD OF TIME (60 DAYS) I CAN FILE A COMPLAINT. IT'S APPROACHING NEARLY A YEAR SINCE I WAS FIRST CONTACTED AND I TRIED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT THREE TIMES WITH MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS AIR BAG REPLACED. I FEEL I'VE BEEN VERY PATIENT WITH THIS RECALL, AS I'VE HAD OTHER ITEMS RECALLED OVER THE PAST YEAR AND REPLACEMENTS WERE MADE FOR THOSE ITEMS IN A MUCH MORE REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE TO BE PUT OFF AND TOLD HONDA IS TOO BUSY TO MAKE A SAFETY FEATURE REPAIR ANYTHING BUT A TOP PRIORITY.
THE CLEAR COAT IS COMING OFF MY CAR. IT STARTED DOING THIS IN THE PAST YEAR. IT LOOKS HORRIBLE IT'S JUST ON THE TRUNK AND THE PANELS ON TOP OF THE SIDE WINDOWS. APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL ( 14-034) BUT THIS HAS EXPIRED AND HONDA WILL NO LONGER COVER. I CALLED THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE CAR AND THEY SAID THEY NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING FROM HONDA. I OWN A 2008 HONDA CIVIC. I PURCHASED A SET OF ECOPIA EP 422 TIRES ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD THREE FLAT TIRES. MY FIRST FLAT HAPPENED WHILE ON MY WAY HOME. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 70 MPH. (MY TIRE PRESSURE GAUGE ON MY DASH IS FAULTY SO I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT WHEN IT CAME ON SINCE I ROUTINELY CHECK MY TIRE PRESSURES.) ABOUT A MINUTE LATER I NOTICED THE ROAD NOISE SEEMED LOUDER THAN NORMAL. VERY QUICKLY I STARTED TO FEEL MY TIRE BECOMING FLAT AND MY CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN ON ITS OWN. AS A YOUNG WOMAN I FELT UNSAFE PULLING OVER ON A DARK ROAD IN THE RAIN, AND IN A LOCATION THAT I WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH. I PULLED OFF THE NEXT EXIT AND DROVE VERY SLOWLY UNTIL I COULD PARK IN A WELL LIT GAS STATION. HOWEVER BY THIS TIME TIRE WAS TOTALLY SHREDDED. THIS ALL HAPPENED IN THE TIME SPAN OF 3 MINUTES, THERE WAS LITTLE WARNING OR TIME TO REACT. WHEN I GOT MY SECOND FLAT I WAS DRIVING WHEN IT LOST AIR. THE THIRD FLAT OCCURRED WHEN IT WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT. I DROVE TO SCHOOL WITH NO PROBLEMS, AND ABOUT TWO HOURS LATER I FOUND THAT MY TIRE HAD LOST IT'S AIR. IN THE LASTTWO INSTANCES, MY TIRE BECAME FLAT WITH NO APPARENT CAUSE; NO NAILS, TEARS, OR GASHES. I HAVE THE ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY WHICH IS WHY I'VE STAYED WITH THIS BRAND, HOWEVER I AM CONSIDERING SWITCHING TO TIRES THAT ARE A LITTLE MORE RELIABLE. THE HEAT SHIELD IN THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL NOW MAKES A NOISE AND I BELIEVE IT WAS DAMAGED DUE TO THE TIRES UNRELIABILITY. EVEN WHEN THE TIRES WERE IN GOOD CONDITION, THE ROAD NOISE AT HIGHER SPEEDS WAS VERY LOUD AND I FOUND THEM TO HAVE POOR TRACTION IN RAIN AND WINTER CONDITIONS. IN THE RAIN, I HAVE TO DRIVE SLOWER THAN OTHER DRIVERS BECAUSE MY CAR WILL HYDROPLANE WHEN IT GOES OVER THE SMALLEST PUDDLE. IN THE WINTER, MY CAR WOULD FISH TAIL CONSTANTLY EVEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT VERY LOW SPEEDS. I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS BRAND OF TIRE AT ALL.
CAME OUT TO START THE CAR IN MORNING BUT CAR BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. JUMP STARTED CAR AND DROVE TO WORK. CAME BACK AFTER WORK AND CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. JUMP STARTED CAR. TOOK TO A AUTO PARTS STORE. CHECKED BATTERY WHICH TESTED GOOD. CAME HOME CLEANED BATTERY CABLES, TIGHTENED AND RECHARGED BATTERY. IN MORNING, BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. SUSPECT CAR HAS ELECTRICAL SHORT THAT IS KILLING THE BATTERY. CAR HAS APROX. 120K MILES ON IT AND HAD ENGINE REPLACED AT 50K DUE TO CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK (COVERED UNDER RECALL)

OVERLY AGGRESSIVE COMBUSTION CREATES EXCESSIVE INTERNAL PRESSURE WHEN THE INFLATOR IS ACTIVATED, WHICH MAY CAUSE THE INFLATOR BODY TO RUPTURE. HONDA SUGGESTS THAT YOU AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED. TAKATA RECALL RECALL LETTER IN SPRING 2016 STATED REPLACEMENT PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE IN LATE SUMMER/FALL OF 2016 AND A FOLLOW UP LETTER WOULD BE SENT. AS OF JANUARY 2017, NO ADDITIONAL INFORMATION HAS BEEN SENT.
RECALL WAS DATED 5/23/2016 TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. I WAS NOTIFIED THIS PAST SUMMER THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE BUT I WOULD BE NOTIFIED LATE SUMMER/FALL OF 2016. IT IS NOW 1/11/2017 AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FROM THEM TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE SINCE I CAN NOT HAVE A PASSENGER RIDE ALONG UNTIL THIS IS FIXED. TAKATA RECALL (DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG): ON JANUARY 10, 2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 11AM, DRIVER STARTED VEHICLE, PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT, DROVE ABOUT 10 FEET AND THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE INVOLVED IN THE INCIDENT, NOR DID DRIVER HIT OR RUN INTO ANY OBJECT ON THE ROAD. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE ABOUT 35-40 DEGREES, PARTLY SUNNY SKIES. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL HONDA DEALER, WHO STATED THE COMPUTER SYSTEM SHOWS IMPACT CONDITIONS CAUSED THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG SENSORS TO FIRE THE AIRBAG. AFTER REPORTING THE INCIDENT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY, THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AT THE HONDA DEALER, REPORTING THE ISSUE AS "ELECTRONIC FAILURE". THE ADJUSTER'S REPORT ALSO STATES THERE WAS NO IMPACT THAT CAUSED THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR (NHTSA RECALL # 16V-346), WHICH WAS REPLACED AT NO COST. HOWEVER, THE DRIVERS AIRBAG INFLATOR IS NOT COVERED (ESTIMATE OF REPAIR APPROX. $3,200). IF THE DRIVER WERE 5 MORE MINUTES DOWN THE ROAD, DRIVER WOULD HAVE BEEN ON A 45 MPH ROAD. IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG, PLEASE INFORM THE NHTSA.
PAINT IS CRACKING AND PEELING OFF ON BODY OF VEHICLE.
THE BRACKET THE HOLDS THE ALTERNATOR AND IS CONNECTED TO THE ENGINE BLOCK SNAPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. I LOST POWER STEERING AND THE BELT CAME OFF. THE ALTERNATOR WAS JUST DANGLING. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW.
