HONDA CIVIC LX - 17,000 MILES. NOISE FROM FRONT WHEN BRAKING. DEALERSHIP SAID THAT FRONT BRAKES HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED (PADS AND ROTORS). REFUSED TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY CLAIMING THAT THIS WAS NORMAL WEAR. COMPLAINED TO AMERICAN HONDA AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND CLEARLY DUE TO WEAR. THEY REFUSED TO COMMENT WHEN I ASKED HOW 17,000 MILES FOR NEW FRONT BRAKES COULD POSSIBLY BE CONSIDERED WEAR. MILES ARE ALL HIGHWAY DRIVEN. *TR
CREAKING NOISE FROM FRONT END WHILE TURNING WHEEL. FIRST TIME WAS FEBRUARY 2010. DEALER PERFORMED SERVICE BULLETIN. DID NOT WORK. THEY REPLACED BOTH FRONT STRUT ASSEMBLIES---PROBLEM SOLVED. JULY 2010 CREAKING IN STEERING IS BACK. BROUGHT IN TO DEALER AND TOLD BOTH STRUT ASSEMBLIES NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. TWO WEEK BACK ORDER ON STRUTS. *TR
FRONT BRAKES WERE WORN DOWN OVER A VERY SHORT DURATION. THE CAR DID NOT HAVE MANY MILES ON IT, NOR HAD THE CAR BEEN DRIVEN ERRATICALLY, BUT THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
WHILE DRIVING A 2009 HYBRID HONDA CIVIC IN SMALL TOWN TRAFFIC, THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME BRAKED SUDDENLY. WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKES IN THE HONDA, I GOT NO RESPONSE. THE BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS DRIVING AT LOW SPEED (25-35 MPH) AND ENGAGED THE HAND BRAKE (EMERGENCIA), WHICH STOPPED THE CAR IN TIME TO PREVENT THE ACCIDENT. I TRIED TO USE THE CAR AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE SINCE AND WILL TAKE IT IN FOR REPAIRS TODAY. *TR
CLUNKING NOISE WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT AT ANY SPEED. DEALER FOUND 2 BOLTS THAT HOLD DOWN STEERING RACK WERE LOOSE, BOLTS WERE TORQUED DOWN. OTHER MEMBERS ON FORUMS THAT WERE VISITED EXPERIENCED SIMILAR ISSUES BUT CERTAIN DEALERS BLAME AFTERMARKET PARTS RESULTING IN THE NOISE. IF THESE BOLTS WERE TO FALL OUT POSSIBLE STEERING LOSS COULD RESULT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIRBAG SENSOR LOCATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT MADE THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE PARTS HAD TO BE ORDERED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT IT WOULD TAKE APPROXIMATELY ONE AND A HALF WEEKS FOR THE PARTS TO ARRIVE FROM CALIFORNIA. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT HE WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. THE DEALER WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT IF THE SENSOR LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED NONE OF THE AIR BAGS IN THE VEHICLE WOULD WORK IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE CONTACT IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 30,500.
WE PURCHASED 2009 HONDA CIVIC LX NEW IN LATE 2009. BY JULY OF 2010 WE HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR (36K MILES). I REGULARLY ROTATED TIRES EVERY 7000K MILES. 3/20/12- I REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES AGAIN DUE TO SEVERE CUPPING ON BOTH REAR TIRES. HONDA DEALERSHIP STATES IT IS A CONTROL ARM ISSUE CAUSING TIRE DAMAGE BUT WOULD NOT PAY FOR PART OR LABOR. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY HONDA FOR FREE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. *JS
1. THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR A WHILE. 2. CAME OUT ONE MORNING AND CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER CALLED AAA AND DEALER, CHECKED THE BATTERY GREEN LIGHT WAS BRIGHT GOT CAR TO START AND WENT TO DEALER, 3. THEY SAID STARTER WAS BAD AND REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE UNDER WARRANTY. ABOUT 3 TO 4 WEEKS LATER PROBLEM CAME BACK AND WAS ABLE TO START CAR AND TOOK TO DEALER AGAIN AND THIS TIME THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM THEY JUST NOTED IT AND AWAITING FOR THE ISSUE TO HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH IN A PARKING SPACE AND ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE PEDAL. SUDDENLY, HER FOOT WAS TRAPPED UNDERNEATH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A POLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER INSTALLED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN AN EXTREMELY HIGH ELEVATED POSITION FROM THE FLOOR WHICH WAS A SAFETY DEFECT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO COLLISION CENTER WITH THE REPAIR COST OF $5,196.34. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 5,700.
A ROCK CAME THROUGH THE GRILLE OF A 2009 HONDA CIVIC DAMAGING THE A/C CONDENSER. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT IT IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE THE ROCK CAUSED THE DAMAGE. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THEY SEE THIS ALL THE TIME. A SIMPLE SEARCH ON THE INTERNET BRINGS UP LOTS OF LINKS FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM FOR HONDA, AND VERY FEW FOR OTHER CAR MAKERS. APPARENTLY THEY CHANGED THE GRILLE DESIGN ON THE ODYSSEY TO LESSEN THE CHANCES OF A ROCKS COMING THROUGH THE GRILLS. TO ME IT APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW. *TR
LOUD SOUND COMING FROM FRONT END, TOOK IT IN FOR WARRANTY REPAIR AND WAS TOLD BRAKES WERE WORN OUT AT 18,XXX MILES. I DRIVE MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES AND I ARGUED THAT IT WAS TOO EARLY FOR THAT TO HAPPEN AND WAS TOLD IT DEPENDS ON THE DRIVER. I HAVE DRIVEN 5 CARS IN MY LIFE AND THE AVG BRAKE LIFE WAS 60-70,000 MILES. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED I HAVE TO DO REPAIRS ON A 2009 CIVIC THAT I PURCHASED WITH 10 MILES ON IT. I CALLED AND COMPLAINED TO CORPORATE AND WAS GIVEN THE COMPANY LINE. NO HELP! *TR
AT 17,000 MILE SERVICE ON MY 2009 HONDA CIVIC, FRONT BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED. FRONT RIGHT BRAKE WAS AT ZERO. I PAID TO HAVE NEW BRAKE PADS INSTALLED AND CALLED HONDA AMERICA FOR EXPLANATION AND REIMBURSEMENT. HONDA AMERICA REFUSES TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY. IT SAYS 17,00 MILES FALLS WITHIN NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. *TR

PROBLEM NOT IDENTIFIED. 6-23-10 PROBLEM CONTINUES, NOW CONSTANT WHEN GOING FORWARD AND BACKING UP WHEN TURNING WHEEL. LUBRICANT APPLIED TO STEERING COLUMN. 7-2-10 PROBLEM CONTINUES, SERVICE DEPARTMENT "HAD A CONFERENCE" WITH EXPERIENCED REPAIR EMPLOYEES. PROBLEM IDENTIFIED, PARTS ORDERED. 7-26-10 2 DAY REPAIR, "STEERING BOLTS NOT TORQUED CORRECTLY", RETORQUED 8-4-10 PROBLEM CONTINUES, CREAKING NOW LOUDER. LEFT CAR WITH THEM FOR 3 WEEKS WHILE ON VACATION. "BOTH FRONT DRIVESHAFTS BINDING", BOTH REPLACED. 8-24-10 RETURNED FROM VACATION, PROBLEM CONTINUES. THEY WANT ME TO TAKE CARE IN AGAIN FOR SIXTH ATTEMPT TO FIX. MAJOR CONCERN: DOES THIS NOISE INDICATE A SAFETY CONCERN? THEY REASSURE ME THAT IT ISN'T BUT ALSO STATE THAT THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED IN 5 OTHER CARS, SAME YEAR, SAME MODEL, "SOME WE COULDN'T FIX" DECISION TIME: RETURN THE CAR FOR ANOTHER ATTEMPT OR FILE THROUGH LEMON LAW. *TR
2009 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID WAS COMING TO A STOP IN TRAFFIC. THE IMA WENT FROM CHARGE TO ASSIST WHILE BRAKING (FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL), LURCHING THE CAR FORWARD (TIRES LOCKED UP). SAME EVENT HAPPENED 5 MINUTES LATER. DROPPED OF AT DEALER THE NEXT DAY, BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE SURGE. AMERICAN HONDA CALLED AND SAID THEY WILL NOT ADDRESS AN ISSUE IF THE DEALER CAN NOT REPRODUCE THE FAILURE. THEY ASK FOR THE CAR TO BE DRIVEN HOME. *TR
WHEN THE CAR IS SHUT OFF, ALL ASSIST TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IS LOST WITHIN 30 MINUTES. THE SI MODELS ARE MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS. WHEN THE CLUTCH IS DEPRESSED TO START THE ENGINE WITH NORMAL FOOT PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE CAR WILL ROLL IF ON AN INCLINE. VERY HEAVY PRESSURE IS REQUIRED TO PREVENT ROLLING. THE DEALER AGREES THE PROBLEM EXISTS BUT SAYS THAT IS HOW IT IS DESIGNED. I HAVE 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS; NO OTHER VEHICLES I HAVE DRIVEN EXHIBIT THIS TRAIT. THE RISK FOR PEDESTRIAN AND PROPERTY DAMAGE IN PARKING AREAS ON AN INCLINE SEEMS SIGNIFICANT.
SCRATCHES APPEARED IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE, LIKE THERE WAS NO CLEAR COAT AT ALL. NOW THEIR ARE SPOTS WITH NO PAINT OR CLEAR COAT ALL OVER THE CAR AND I'M WORRIED IF IT STARTS TO RUST, I COULD GET A LEAK IN THE ROOF.
2009 HONDA CIVIC WAS IN FOR 15,854 OIL CHANGE (NEW CAR) END TECHNICIAN REPORTED BRAKES WERE WEARING ON 2 FRONT BRAKES AND WOULD PROBABLY NEED REPLACEMENT AT 20,000 MILES OR SOONER. SQUEALING NOISE AT TIMES WHEN BRAKES APPLIED. THIS IS TOO SOON FOR BRAKES TO BE REPLACED AND HAVE PROBLEMS ON A NEW CAR. *TR
PROBLEM: LOW AND FLAT TIRES. I HAVE TO PUT AIR IN THE TIRES EVERY WEEK USUALLY BETWEEN 5-10 POUNDS. I HAVE 21,000 MILES NOW - AT 10,000 I REPLACED TWO OF THE MICHELIN TIRES WITH TWO GOODYEAR AND STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. MY DEALER SAYS THEY DON'T COVER TIRES - BUT THEY WON'T ENTERTAIN THE THEORY THAT MAYBE IT IS THE WHEELS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE BRAKING TO COME TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE SEAT BELT ABNORMALLY TIGHTENED, FORCING HER INTO THE SEAT. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO LOOSEN THE SEAT BELT TO REMOVED IT FROM AROUND HER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN INVOLVED IN A CRASH YET THE CONTACT STATED SHE IS THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A CRASH IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED.THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,400.
I PURCHASED A NEW 2009 HONDA CIVIC AND AT 12,000 THE TIRE BELTS HAVE SLIPPED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH OR LESS, THE VEHICLE WOULD DRIVE EXTREMELY ROUGH AS IF SHE WERE DRIVING ON AN UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR ROTORS AND CALIPERS WERE DAMAGED. THE REAR ROTORS WERE REPLACED AND THE REAR CALIPERS WERE CLEANED. APPROXIMATELY TEN DAYS LATER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE REAR ROTORS WERE RUSTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN IN TO BE EXAMINED FOR THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,900.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND SHIFT INTO PARK; THE RPMS INCREASED EXCESSIVELY; HOWEVER, A BYSTANDER HELPED HER TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THERE WERE NO INJURIES BUT A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING ABOUT FIVE MILES PER HOUR IN DOWNTOWN PHILADELPHIA. NO IMPACT HAPPENED, NO POTHOLE WAS HIT. THE HONDA PLACE WHERE I LEASE THE CAR IS BLAMING IT ON A 4 INCH SQUARE PIECE OF ASPHALT STUCK SOMEWHERE UNDER THE CAR. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN WHEN THE AIRBAG DEPOLYED. MY INSURANCE COMPANY HAS FILED A CLAIM AND WILL EXAMINE THE CAR.

I DRIVE A 2009 HONDA CIVIC LX 5 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TWO PROBLEMS NEED TO BE ADDRESSED AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY ARE COMPLETELY NORMAL, AND I KNOW THEY ARE NOT NORMAL. PROBLEM 1: TRANSMISSION: WHEN COMING TO A STOP, USUALLY UNDER 10MPH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD INTO FIRST GEAR. SO HARD THAT IT SHIFTS HARD AND I HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THE CAR WANTS TO LAUNCH ME A LITTLE FURTHER.TWICE NOW I HAVE ALMOST HIT SOMEBODY BECAUSE WHEN IT SHIFTS HARD INTO FIRST IT WANTS TO KEEP GOING, I HAVE TO SOMETIMES PULL EMERGENCY BRAKE TO MAKE SURE I DON'T HIT ANYBODY. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT WHEN IT DOES IT SCARES ME. SECOND PROBLEM: BRAKES: THE BRAKES IN THIS CAR ARE HORRIBLE EVEN WITH MY FOOT COMPLETELY DOWN THE CAR STILL HAS A HARD TIME SLOWING DOWN AND AGAIN I SEEM TO HAVE TO RELY ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO HELP ME STOP. I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD SON I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE IT WAS RATED SAFE, BUT I'M TERRIFIED TO TAKE HIM ANYWHERE BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN STOP OR NOT. I TALK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY BOTH PROBLEMS ARE COMPLETELY NORMAL. ITS BRAND NEW WITH ONLY 5500 MILES ON IT SO I KNOW THIS ISN'T NORMAL. *TR
I PURCHASED MY HONDA CIVIC ON 12/31/08. ON OR AROUND THE BEGINNING OF MAY 2009, I HAD MY TIRES ROTATED AT 9532 MILES. ON MAY 22, 2009 AT 9595 MILES, I HAD THEM COMPUTER BALANCED AND ROTATED AGAIN. THERE WAS A THUMPING NOISE THAT WAS OCCURRING WHENEVER I TRIED TO STOP. HAD A TIRE REPLACED DUE TO UNSUCCESSFUL REPAIR OF FLAT (AT 10,515 MILES). AT 11,016 MILES, I WAS BACK AT HONDA AGAIN. HAD TO HAVE A SECOND TIRE REPLACED DUE TO TREAD WEAR AND WARPING. BOTH OF THESE TIRES HAD INITIALLY BEEN ON THE REAR AXLE OF THE CAR WHEN IT WAS PURCHASED. IN JULY OF 2009, AT 14652 MILES, I HAD TIRES ROTATED AGAIN. TWO NEW FRONT TIRES WENT TO BACK AXLE. ON 12/22/09, WENT TO HAVE TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED AGAIN DUE TO ROUGH RIDING (MILEAGE 25148). HAD TO HAVE TWO NEW TIRES (REPLACED BY HONDA) REPLACED AGAIN. TIRES WERE ON THE REAR AXLE, AND WERE WORN COMPLETELY SMOOTH AFTER ONLY ~14,500 MILES. AGAIN, ON FEBRUARY 23, 2010, WENT TO HAVE TIRES ROTATED AGAIN (MILEAGE 29834). BACK TWO TIRES WERE WORN COMPLETELY SMOOTH AGAIN. GOODYEAR TIRE COMPANY PUT THIS QUOTE ON MY RECEIPT, "NO ROTATION DUE TO TIRE WEAR IN THE REAR. REAR TIRES ARE AT 2/32." ON FEBRUARY 25, I TOOK THE HONDA CIVIC TO THE NEAREST HONDA DEALER (ROUND ROCK, TX ~ 58 MILES AWAY). HAD CALLED AHEAD AND MADE APPOINTMENT, TELLING THE SERVICE MANAGER WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. HE CALLED ME AT 12:45 AND TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD PUT THE CAR ON THE ALIGNMENT RACK AND THE CAR WAS NOT OUT OF ALIGNMENT, AND THAT THIS WAS JUST NATURAL TREAD WEAR DUE TO MY "DRIVING". AFTER GETTING HOME THIS EVENING, I BEGAN RESEARCHING THE BRIDGESTONE TURANZA EL400 TIRES ONLINE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS CONSUMER COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING. I FIND IT QUITE ODD THAT HONDA SAYS NO ONE ELSE HAS COMPLAINED, BUT THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS POSTED ONLINE ABOUT THESE SAME TIRES. I FIND THEM TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE TO DRIVE UNDER 55 MPH IF IT IS RAINING. IF I DO NOT, MY CAR HYDROPLANES ALL OVER THE ROAD. THIS IS A HAZARD. *TR

I HAVE OWNED A 2009 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID SINCE 12/8/08 AND HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE BATTERY AND THE HYBRID SYSTEM. ON OCTOBER 5, 2009, AS I WAS ENTERING AN ON-RAMP IN ARLINGTON, VA, THE IMA SYSTEM COMPLETELY FAILED AND THE REGULAR INTERNAL COMBUSTIBLE ENGINE (ICE) REVVED TO OVER 4500 RPM TO PROVIDE POWER ON THE ON-RAMP DUE TO THERE BEING NO IMA ASSISTANCE. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO OURISMAN AND THEY SPENT SEVERAL DAYS GETTING A NEW IMA BATTERY SYSTEM ORDERED AND INSTALLED, CLAIMING THERE WAS A BAD CELL IN THE 10-MONTH OLD IMA BATTERY. IN NOV AND DEC 09, I DISCOVERED THE CAR BATTERY DEAD TWICE IN THE GARAGE. ON THE NIGHT OF FEBRUARY 13, 2010, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (BATTERY AND HYBRID DRIVE) FAILED ON A BUSY STREET OFF OF MILITARY RD, NW. THE CAR WAS BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY INTO THE ROAD WHEN IT COMPLETELY DIED. AS THERE WAS NO POWER FOR HAZARD LIGHTS, I PERSONALLY DIRECTED TRAFFIC AROUND THE DEAD CAR UNTIL I COULD GET A JUMP. AFTER A BATTERY JUMP, I TRIED TO CHARGE THE BATTERY FOR A TIME, BUT WHEN I PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE, THE CAR DIED AGAIN AND I HAD TO GET A SECOND JUMP. 15 MINUTES LATER, I DISCONNECTED THE CABLES AND DROVE TO OURISMAN HONDA IN BETHESDA, MD. ON THE WAY, THE VEHICLE ALMOST DIED TWICE BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO OURISMAN HONDA. THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY, BUT A WEEK LATER ON FEBRUARY 23, 2010, THE CAR DIED AGAIN AND I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET IT TO OURISMAN HONDA FOR SERVICE AGAIN. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS, THEY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS BEING WITH THE RELAY NEAR THE HYBRID SYSTEM. THE CAR STILL ACTS STRANGELY AND THEY HYBRID ASSIST DOES NOT WORK AS WELL AS IT USED TO. ACCELERATION IS NOT NORMAL, THE HYBRID ASSIST DOES NOT COME ON AT NORMAL TIMES, AND THERE ARE INCIDENTS OF ACCELERATION AND ENGINE REVVING WHEN I RELEASE THE GAS TO BRAKE BEFORE A STOP SIGN. *TR
I CURRENTLY AM THE LESSEE OF A 2009 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID STARTING THIS JANUARY, THE HYBRID BATTERY CHARGE LEVEL GOES FROM ALMOST FULL (8-10 OUT OF 10 BARS) TO VIRTUALLY ZERO (1 BAR) EVERY OTHER WEEK (THE TECHNICAL TERM FOR THIS IS A "RECALL" OR RECALIBRATING). THIS SUMMER, IT STARTED HAPPENING EVERY 3-4 DAYS, AND WHENEVER I HAD THE A/C ON. THEN, IT STARTED TO HAPPEN EVERY 100 MILES (WHICH MADE IT VERY PREDICTABLE). THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN IN THE 'RECALL' STATE, THE CAR IS ALMOST UNRESPONSIVE AND DOES NOT ACCELERATE MUCH, IF AT ALL. THIS POSES A SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS WHEN THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC HAS A BLIND SPOT, OR IS COMING AROUND A CORNER. IT ALSO IMPACTS FUEL EFFICIENCY SUBSTANTIALLY. I HAVE SEEN ABOUT A 7 MILE-PER-GALLON DROP IN FUEL ECONOMY. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHO TOLD ME THAT THERE WERE NO CODES IN THE SYSTEM BUT THERE WERE 3 SOFTWARE UPDATES, SO THEY INSTALLED THOSE AND THAT IF I STILL HAD THE PROBLEM, TO COME BACK. I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM SO I SCHEDULE THE APPOINTMENT AND I TAKE THE MECHANIC FOR A TEST DRIVE AND HE SEES THE CHARGE DROP RAPIDLY AND STATES THAT IT'S COMPLETELY NORMAL. I ARGUE THAT IS HAPPENS TOO OFTEN AND HE STILL SAYS "IT'S FINE." ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER THE IMA LIGHT AND 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT COME ON. TURNS OUT, IT WAS A BLOWN FUSE (FOR THE A/C ELECTRIC DRIVE, FUSE #22) SO THEY REPLACE IT, AND TELL ME THAT THEY CHECKED THE CURRENT DRAW ON THE A/C JUST TO BE SAFE AND CLAIMED EVERYTHING WAS FINE. NOW, ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER, EVERY TIME I START THE CAR IT DOES A RECALL. THIS IS BEYOND ANNOYING AND NOW I'M STARTING TO SEE DROPS OF ABOUT 10 MPG BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM, AS OPPOSED TO THE PREVIOUS 6 OR 7. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO A HONDA DEALERSHIP 7 TIMES OVER 20 MONTHS FOR WORK ON THIS PROBLEM. A LOCAL TIRE SHOP REPLACED THE REAR TIRE. THE DEALER CHECKED THE ENTIRE REAR-END OF THE VEHICLE FOR DAMAGE; HOWEVER, NOTHING WAS BROKEN. THE DEALER REQUESTED THAT A MANUFACTURERS REPRESENTATIVE INSPECT THE VEHICLE; YET, THIS HAS NOT OCCURRED. THE CONTACT HAD THE IDENTICAL FAILURE ON A 2006 CIVIC AND THE DEALER STATED THAT FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A LOOSE BUSHING WHICH CAUSED UNUSUAL TIRE WEAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS IS A MAJOR MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
2008 CIVIC COUPE LX WITH BRIDGESTONE EL 400 TIRES BEGAN SHAKING AND VIBRATING AT 13,000 MILES. REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND TIRE ROTATIONS ARE ON RECORD, YET ZIMMERMAN HONDA IN ROCK ISLAND, IL CLAIMS THAT THE UNEVEN TIRE WEAR AND SUBSEQUENT SECOND SET OF TIRES TO BE REPLACED ARE MY FAULT AND WILL BE AT MY EXPENSE. I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT THE '06 AND '07 CIVICS HAVE A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE "C" ARM LEADING TO UNEVEN TIRE WEAR. OBVIOUSLY THE PROBLEM WAS NEVER FIXED DURING THE ASSEMBLY FOR THE NEWER MODELS OF HONDA CIVICS. CAR IS NOW AT 27,000 MILES, NEEDING NEW TIRE AGAIN!!!!! COST SO FAR IS $600 AND I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH HONDA AND ITS DEALERS. I FEEL AS IF I AM GETTING THE RUNAROUND AND AM MADE TO FEEL AS IF THEIR MANUFACTURERS DEFECTS ARE MY FAULT. IF THE PROBLEM IS NOT RESOLVED I WILL TAKE MY BUSINESS (8 CARS MY FAMILY HAS PURCHASED FROM HONDA SINCE 2000 AND 27 RECOMMENDATIONS SINCE 2002) SOMEWHERE ELSE. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH HONDA! 2009 HONDA CIVIC DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR BROKE WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH IN INTERSTATE. THE SUN VISOR LITERALLY 'EXPLODED". PIECES OF PLASTIC FROM THE BACK SEAM FELL AND THE VISOR DROP RIGHT IN MY VIEW ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. HAD TO PULL OVER TO KEEP IT TOGETHER AS OUT OF NOWHERE THIS THING CRACK AND FELL ON MY FACE. REALLY GLAD IT WASN'T MY WIFE DRIVING. *TR
CAR HAS INTERMITTENT HESITATION AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, PROBLEM APPEARS MORE OFTEN IN 90 + DEGREE WEATHER, WHICH IS COMMON IN MY HOME STATE OF FLORIDA. DEALER CHECKED CAR AND WAS UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. PROBLEM IS STILL THERE, AND CAN BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF THE CAR WERE TO HESITATE AT THE WRONG MOMENT. PROBLEM HAS BEEN PRESENT FOR MONTHS NOW, THIS IS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC 4 DOOR SEDAN (EX-L NAVI MODEL). *TR
