The contact owns a 2009 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and being inspected, the contact became aware that the driver’s and passenger’s side sun visors were split. No warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown NHTSA Campaign. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
Pain on my Honda Civic 2009 Is peeling very badly. I read that it was manufacture defect and I would like to have it fixed. It started about two years ago.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXTERIOR RUBBER AND CLIPS ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WERE DETERIORATING AND EXPOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HONDA OF PASADENA (1965 E FOOTHILL BLVD, PASADENA, CA 91107, (626) 773-8774), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
CLEAR COAT PAINT PEELING PROBLEM. THE PAINT IS CRACKING ON THE HOOD, BOTH 1/4 PANELS, FRONT PILLARS, TRUNK, AND ROOF.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (~65-70MPH), THE MOLDING/SEAL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD CAME LOOSE, AND BEFORE I COULD GET TO A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER, IT BROKE FREE. WHILE IT WAS ATTACHED, IT WAS BANGING INTO THE ROOF OF THE CAR AND AGAINST THE REAR PASSENGER-SIDE WINDOW. IT WAS HITTING THE WINDOW WITH ENOUGH FORCE THAT I FEARED IT WOULD CRACK THE GLASS. ADDITIONALLY, THAT IT BROKE FREE AND FELL OFF CREATED A SAFETY HAZARD FOR OTHER VEHICLES NEAR ME. IN THE ATTACHED PHOTO, IT SHOWS THE SPACE WHERE THE SEAL CAME LOOSE BETWEEN THE EDGE OF THE GLASS, AND THE FRAME AT THE TOP.

SLOW SPEED IMPACT (25 MPH CITY STREET )WITH STATIONARY OBJECT: FRONT BUMPED DESTROYED GET NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED.
SUN VISOR BROKE DURING DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND WOULD NOT STAY UP. BLOCKING VISUALLY. HONDA WAS INVOLVED IN A CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT INVOLVED THE SAME YEAR BUT JUST SLIGHTLY OUT OF VIN NUMBER AREA.
PAINT CLEAR COAT IS COMING OFF ON DOORS, WAS COMING OFF ON TRUNK AND TOP BUT WAS TAKEN CARE OF BY RECALL. THE REST DEVELOPED LATER AFTER THE RECALL RHE CAR NOT LOOKING GOOD AND I KEEP IT UP VERY GOOD
THE CLEAR COAT HAS BEEN FLAKING OFF OF THE ROOF OF MY CAR FOR APPROX 1 YEAR. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THIS RESOLVED BUT I HAVE BEEN IN SUCCESSFUL. AT FIRST THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. NOW MY CAR IS NO LONGER ELIGIBLE FOR THE MANUFACTURER REPAIR OF THE CLEAR COAT.
SPLASH GUARD IS DISINTERGRATING. ALSO PAINT (TOP COAT) ON ROOF AND TOP OF TRUNK IS BADLY DETERIORATED. THESE DEFECTS NOTED OVER TIME.
CLEAR COAT ON PAINT FAILED AFTER 3 YEARS. SUN VISORS FAILED AFTER 4 YEARS AND 35K MILES. MOTOR MOUNTS FAILED AT 5 YEARS AND 42K MILES.
THE CLEAR COAT IS PEELING OFF THE CAR. HONDA HAD ADMITTED A PROBLEM HOWEVER I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A RECAP/EXTENDED WARRANTY.PROBLEM STARTED OUT SMALL BUT HAS BECOME A MAJOR PROBLEM. SHOULD BE COVERED AFTER WARRANTY PERIOD
THE PAINT ON THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN CHIPPING OFF THROUGHOUT VARIOUS SECTIONS OF THE CAR'S BODY, DOWN TO THE UNDERCOAT. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW, AND IT HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS, OR BEEN REPAINTED FOR ANY REASONS. THE PROBLEM STARTED OCCURRING APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS AGO. THE NATURE OF THE ISSUE IS DOES NOT PERTAIN TO ANY OF THE CONDITIONS DESCRIBED IN THE NOTE SECTION OF THIS VEHICLE INFORMATION FORM. I APPROACHED HONDA REGARDING THE ISSUE, BUT WAS TOLD THAT THIS ISSUE IS NOT CONSIDERED UNDER THE COMPANY'S RECALL POLICY. HONDA VEHICLES ARE WELL KNOWN FOR PROBLEMS REGARDING PAINT, AND HONDA AND SEVERAL HONDA OWNERS ARE FULLY AWARE OF SUCH PROBLEMS. I AM LOOKING FOR ASSISTANCE TO ADDRESS AND RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. PLEASE HELP US CONSUMERS PRESERVE OUR RIGHTS AND GET THE PROTECTION WE NEED AGAINST CORPORATIONS, SUCH AS HONDA, THAT PROFIT FROM US AND DON'T ADEQUATELY STAND BY US BY HONORING THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES.
THE CLEAR COAT IS DETERIORATING ON THE ROOF, HOOD, AND TRUNK.
DARK GRAY COLOR FADING VERY BADLY ON THE ROOF OVER FRONT AND BACK WINDOWS EVEN THOUGH CAR WAS NOT WASHED FREQUENTLY AND HAS BEEN PARKED IN A GARAGE.
THE DRIVER-SIDE DOOR HANDLE ON MY 2009 HONDA CIVIC LX BROKE. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER, THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL-MAINTAINED AND THERE IS NO REASON FOR THE DOOR HANDLE TO BREAK AT SUCH AN EARLY STAGE. *TR
IN 2014 WE RECEIVED NOTICED OF A RECALL ON MY 2009 HONDA CIVIC, ABOUT THE CLEAR COAT PAINT JOB. TOOK MY VEHICLE TO HUGHES HONDA IN WARNER ROBINS, GA; THEY KEPT MY VEHICLE FOR 3 WEEKS AND ONLY PAINTED THE SPOTS THAT WERE FADING. IF THE RECALL IS FOR THE ENTIRE CAR, WHY DID THE DEALERSHIP NOT RE-PAINT THE ENTIRE CAR, SINCE THE CAR HAD A CLEAR COAT RECALL ON IT? I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP A YEAR AFTER I TOOK IT TO GET REPAINTED, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL WARRANTY WAS UP AND THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RESOLVED THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. NOW IN 2018, THE OTHER HALF OF MY CAR IS FADING.
IN EARLY AUGUST, THE DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK BROKE AND YOU COULD NOT ENTER THE DOOR WITH A KEY. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE CHARGES TO GET THE LOCK REPAIRED AND TO MATCH ALL THE LOCKS WITH THE NEW KEY. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. *TR
