Coils and spark plugs getting rust/wet by water intrusion causing emisions problems the car is unable to drive.
Honda Service Bulletin 19-091 Warranty Extension : A/C Condenser Leaking My vehicle began to blow hot air on the driver side. No warning lights or service light warned me. I need to understand if my car is covered by the HONDA Service Bulletin 19-091
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Steering, yes available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Yes, the steering gets "stuck" in position while driving and takes extra force to "break" it free and regain control. At first it was only noticeable ay highway speeds but now it is noticeable on regular road ways. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Has not been seen by dealer because out of warranty and I feel this should be a recalled item. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lights or messages appear.
Vehicle is having electrics issues. It will start up and then when attempting to start it again, it will not start. This happens sporadically and the battery, starter and alternator have been tested in good condition and working as designed.
Unable to attain a comfortable cabin temperature due to a leaking evaporator located under the dashboard in the cabin. Driver comfort is necessary in the torrid Arizona heat. Driver discomfort can compromise the safe operation of a vehicle. A comfortably cooled cabin is essential for safe vehicle operation. Inhaling leaking refrigerant gas in a closed cabin is unhealthful and unsafe. Honda has built and delivered Civics with defective air conditioning components and then as these parts failed, the Civic owners have to pay for essential repairs. Honda did replace the condenser on this vehicle at no cost on 6/8/2020. The recent replacement of the evaporator and actuator valve did come at a discounted cost of $1,537.50. I appreciate the technicians that repaired the car. The failure of the condenser and the evaporator are indicative of the defective and deficient quality of the parts used and are a harbinger of more related parts to fail, namely the compressor, all tubing and related seals, and the dryer. These parts are not covered under any warranty. The only parts of reliable value are the knobs and buttons on the dashboard. I was not able to get possession of the evaporator that was removed because I did not make the request when the service order was written. It would have been helpful to evaluate the part for failure. I am not sure why Honda does not care to evaluate failed parts. The remedy for all affected Civic owners would be for the NHTSA to direct Honda USA to immediately remove every air conditioning component and replace the entire system with a highly reliable OEM quality air conditioning system that is immune from failure. The cost of this resolution would be paid entirely out of Honda executive management compensation. The NHTSA and Honda USA need to understand that safety cannot be compromised! There will be a declining demand for Honda cars made with deficient and defective parts
I bought my 2017 Civic 2.0L brand new. A few years later my A/C stops working in the middle of summer. Due to the cost of what it was going to cost me to have this fixed I had to delay getting my car fixed and having to drive a car with no A/C with my infant and toddler in the back. Eventually I was able to get this fixed and had to pay over $700. For this being a brand new vehicle when purchased I don't think that an issue like this should have occurred if the vehicle was manufactured properly. Unfortunately, no light came on in the vehicle to tell me that something was wrong or needed fixed.
This to help all the others with the AC issue. 2019 bought the car and the AC barely worked. Have extended warranty with CarMax and went to Honda of winter park. Well my girlfriend did I was away. They charged her $350 to say the compressor was shot. And that the cost was around $2200. I find out and she goes to CarMax with the estimate and they replace everything. We break up I come back get in the car AC doesn't work. Now I'm in lake city, go to Honda, this is were you need to pay attention. The condenser was replaced, for free, they said it was $150 to find the problem. Had my 45k mile service done as well. Show up at the dealership and my cost? $0 To my shock the service manager was honest. The condenser is under Honda warranty. They waved the $150 cause I told them it couldn't be the compressor, had to be the condenser. And the they gave me the oil change for free. Do not let Honda service around the country charge you for the problem they already know. $300, to $700 estimates? Shameful. Go to Honda tell them it's the condenser. If the AC seems to blow out of 1 vent cold while the rest warm, or the AC is cold when it's still cool outside, or even hearing a slight hiss under the hood. It's the condenser. Tell them you want the condenser changed. Nothing else! You have control of what they fix on your car. They know what's wrong without lifting the hood. My AC is ice cold. Took 3 years but it works. You don't have to be charged for diagnosis. And everyone that was cheated and treated unfairly there is a Honda number of they're US home office. Call tell them. I was told by the service manager that $150 is the highest they go. Why? Cause they have to remove the front bumper just to check. So be specific. I need the condenser replaced.
Key-less start system problem.... Car has 55000 miles and has been serviced at local Honda dealer on time every time. Car will start up in accessory mode after being turned off and goes into alarm. To turn off alarm I have to use door key. Keyless Remote does not work during the alarm stage and will work after restarting car. I have to unhook battery to keep car from alarming. I have already had remote replaced and reprogrammed. I have to go through a new system reset every time I use the car. Honda could not find a code error. I am concerned this is a major and dangerous problem with the electrical system, possibly control module or push start button. I have read numerous complaints of this issue online from many different Honda models including mine.
There is an issue with the steering on my 2017 Civic. I noticed it several months ago and I believe it has gotten worse. The problem is most noticeable at highway speeds when the temperature is over 75 degrees. The problem is that if the steering wheel has been in the same position for several seconds, it tends to stick in that position and requires slightly more force to turn the wheel. I have found other reports of the problem on the internet along with a video of the problem at https://www.civicforums.com/forums/319-interior/370344-2016-honda-civic-lx-steering-wheel-sticky-stiff-jerky.html A video of the problem is at https://youtu.be/w5x_CaVHXmM This has not resulted in an accident. I have not taken it to a Honda dealer for diagnosis yet. The problem is reproducible.
Honda civic is a 2017 and the ac went out> there has been a lot of civics from 16-18 that have had the same issues. Honda will not do a recall due to defective A/C compressor units even though there has been several cases. summer is here and my 17 civic gets up to 110 degrees inside while transporting family. i have done some research and there is tons of websites filled with people complaining about the same issue. this has cost them hundreds of dollars and still no recall.
The air conditioner stopped cooling and was throwing out warm air. When we took the car to the local Honda dealer they said it was covered under an a/c condenser recall TSB 19-091:6C300. On 7/8/2021 after the repair was completed, the tech mentioned that even after they replaced the condenser there was still a leak in the compressor and we need to get that replaced as well. The compressor is not covered under warranty or recall and we may have to spend about $1200 for it. This 2017 Honda Civic was purchased by us on 8/31/2020 from another Honda dealer who (we found out later) had already replaced the condenser under the same recall notice on 8/6/2020 before selling it to us. It seems the leaking a/c condenser is also damaging the compressor over a period or the entire a/c unit had manufacturing defects and should be covered under the recall.
When driving on highways the steering has a catch/ jerk when making any tracking movement. It causes a jerk movement anytime you try to even slightly change your position in your lane. No warning lights are showing.
The AC is not working, I took it to a repair shop and they replaced the air conditioner. They charged $1800. Under the 6 month warranty I took it back because it was not cooling, the repair shop said the car had little holes near the condenser which drained out the Freon, they filled it again with Freon
My 2017 Honda Civic has been blowing out hot air. At just 36k miles. It is unsafe to be driving my younger siblings and nephew in this hot weather, My vehicle is a salvage so “it wasn’t applicable for me to get the recall” but I believe that shouldn’t matter Honda purposely knew their were defects in the AC but yet do not want to own up to it and fix it.
My air conditioner does not blow cold air as was working before. It has 30,000 miles. Dealership said condenser would be replaced if defective. It would cost $500. to inspect and determine the cause. Defective condenser could have caused damages to other parts of air conditioning unit. I cannot afford $500. to inspect to find possible damage to operation of car, such as electrical, or leaks, or compressor. Along with refrigerant quoted by dealership at $150. per pound. The air conditioning unit was poorly designed as a common issue other owners have experienced. Repairs could result in the thousands of dollars. No warning lamps , messages, or other symptoms noticed. I checked fuse and relay. Freon refrigerant should not have leaked as I have never had this happen with other cars I’ve owned with much more mileage. Heat in parked car in sun could be detrimental to my young children. If car should be inspected by auto air conditioning specialist shop, and repairs made, would dealership complete repair of condenser if it is the cause. Auto air conditioning specialist would cost cheaper than $500. Their hourly rates are cheaper. To inspect and determine the cause. My name is [XXX] and can be reached at[XXX]. The AC in my '17 Honda Civic Hatchback went out and I took it to the local dealership (where purchased) to have it diagnosed. Upon review, they informed me the AC's evaporator unit is leaking and it will cost $2K to replace. I'm aware there is a recall (TSB 19-091) on the condenser from 2016-2018 Civics. Honda came out with a TSB regarding this issue, all 2016-2018 civics have 10yr/unlimited mile warranties now on condensers. TSB 19-091, dated Dec 11th 2019. Per the bulletin: " American Honda is extending the warranty on the A/C condenser to 10 years from the original date of purchase with unlimited miles. This warranty only covers vehicles that have a defective A/C condenser from the factory. The A/C condenser was not manufactured to specification. As a result, tiny holes may develop in the condenser tube walls that allows the refrigerant to leak out. " However, there seems to be an equally large number of complaints online about compressors and evaporators failing in those years of Civic as well. As such, it turns out failure across ALL the components of the AC system (compressors/condensers/evaporators) is relatively common after only a handful of years. I believe an amended bulletin should be provided to cover ALL repairs across the AC system. As a Father, with two kids under the age of 2, it's not suitable for them to ride in a vehicle without AC. Especially with the 100+ temps we get in the middle of Kansas in Summer. Additionally, the lack of a function AC debilitates the function of the Defrost making it extremely dangerous to drive in foggy, rainy, and/or humid conditions. There are multiple articles explaining these exact malfunctions as well: https://www.civicx.com/forum/threads/2016-2019-evaporator-failures-leaks.52319/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Honda/comments/lyne6q/2017_honda_civic_ac_evaporator_leaking/?utm_source=BD&utm_medium=Search&utm_name=Bing&utm_content=PSR1 There were no warnings prior to my AC going out.
The A/C does not work at all. With A/C on max, warm air blows.
A/C compressor failed. Mileage 51,000.
happens with out the key near the car. 2017 Honda Civic, Car will trigger itself to start to accessory mode, turning on headlights, wipers (if switch is on), and sometimes triggering the alarm system when locked and armed. just the electronics turn on by itself. It occurs both when I am in the vehicle, and when no keys are in the vehicle sometimes every error message shows. Several times I will go to my car and the system will be on, or the car will be dead and have to be jumped from being on without me knowing. I'm currently disconnecting the battery. This is a video of another person with the exact problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKdfkzsnXT0
Drivers side of the car AC blows warm air. Passenger side blows cold air.
Air conditioning started to blow hot and the Freon was low. Had to refill the Freon which is using the new R-1234yf fluid which is hard to find at autozone and is very expensive for a 1 pound can at $50. Still cheaper than a mechanic or dealership price. Problem is that the car has 27000 miles and has only been driven sparingly and was never abused. A month later and it’s starting to blow warmer only on 100 degree weather. I currently cannot afford to have full repairs done to the AC. Never had hit anything with my car. Paint and interior is in near excellent condition. So it’s obviously not my fault. Honda should be ashamed.
When driving at high speeds (60+ mph) for longer distances (10+ miles), the steering wheel becomes "sticky". When minor adjustments are attempted, the steering wheel will resist turning until a significant amount of force is applied, then it will suddenly "unstick" causing overcorrection. This makes it difficult maintain lane safely. No warning lights active. Inspected by manufacturer and they could not reproduce, however they may not have driven it at high speeds for long enoug.
Faulty Body Control Module which controls many electronic systems in the car. Alarm started going off while car was parked in the garage. Went off twice within 12 hour period—once in the middle of the night. Car has to be accessed and turned on to stop alarm. Issues with vehicle recognizing key. Body Control Module was replaced at my expense.
Honda gives the condenser problem a extended warranty, yet they are not addressing the EVAP leak as their faulty. This EVAP leak is apparent to civic owners and they need to take the full responsibility for the malfunction. I drove over 3 years with less than 20,000 miles on the car, which should not have the a/c problem.
I HAVE A 2017 Honda Civic. The Air conditioner stopped working. it does not blow cold air. the compressor clutch does engage but no cold air will come out of the system. the car is not even 4 years old and has 45,000 miles it should not have to be recharged
My sedan isnt cooling since last 3 weeks. My local dealer Honda dealer Elk Grove is charging me $450. just to check this time with no repairs. I am concern its just 3.5 years old. Please Look into this Mileage 42000.
STARTED CAR TO RUN AN ERRAND, AND A BUNCH OF ERROR/PROBLEM CODES APPEARED ON DASH ONE BY ONE AS WELL AS ENGINE LIGHT. ALL YELLOW LIGHTS. THE CAR WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE WITH NO PROBLEMS BUT IT DISPLAYED ON DASH WITH EVERY PROBLEM. HAD NO ISSUE TURNING ON, STAYING IN MOTION, SITTING IDLE FOR 30 MIN, OR BRAKING, YET EVERY ISSUE WAS STILL ON DISPLAY AFTER MULTIPLE STARTUPS. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD ME BRING IT IN BUT SHOULD ONLY TAKE A COUPLE OF HOURS. HAD TO LEAVE OVERNIGHT AND IS NOW LATE AFTERNOON. SERVICE IS MAKING REPAIRS AND SOFTWARE UPDATES AT THE APPROVAL OF AMERICAN HONDA (NOT EVEN INVOLVING EXTENDED WARRANTY.) FAIRLY CERTAIN THAT THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THAT HONDA HAS HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS.
AIR CONDITIONER FAILS TO COOL AND INSTEAD BLOWS HOT AIR. HONDA AUTHORIZED SERVICE TECHNICIAN HAS CONFIRMED THAT A DEFECTIVE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR HAS CAUSED FREEON LEAKAGE FROM THE COMPRESSOR'S MAIN SHAFT THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM.
SUDDEN BODY CONTROL MODULE FAILURE CAUSES MULTIPLE, FALSE WARNINGS (WHILE IN MOTION AND STATIONARY) TO LIGHT UP SUCH AS BRAKE SYSTEM, STEERING, OIL, BATTERY, KEYLESS REMOTE SYSTEM. DRIVER DOES NOT KNOW IF SHE/HE SHOULD HEED THESE WARNINGS. THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING. CAR ACCESSORY MODE WOULD TURN ON BY ITSELF (WHILE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND KEY IS AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE) AND DRAIN OUT BATTERY. HONDA SERVICE TECHNICIAN FOUND BCM FAULTY. PLEASE REFER TO RECALL #: 20V-771 ON THIS KNOWN ISSUE WITH HONDA VEHICLES. THIS RECALL NEEDS TO INCLUDE HONDA CIVICS.
Steering system is loose. Not as tight as it should be. The steering feels loose and requires constant correction in order to keep the vehicle in a straight line. There is no added noise. It seems worse the hotter it gets outside.
This vehicle was purchased in May 2017 and in April of 2021 the paint started peeling off the exterior around the rear window. This does not put my safety at risk but I do see that Honda has had this problem with many of their vehicles in recent years. This problem was reported to American Service Honda on June 4 2021, but because I am days past the expiration date of warranty Honda refuses to diagnose the issue without cost to me. I did not immediately report it when first noticed because I had not realized how recent this car was purchased. But like stated prior, Honda has confirmed the same issue for other of their models in recent years. I have owned other vehicles like toyotas and other brands to which do not have the same issue so it is not due to sun damage nor wear. Another issue is that the window trims on all passenger and driver windows are breaking shrinking and falling apart. Again this is also known problem with honda cars in consumer reports.org all throughout the U.S . This may be of safety concern if they fall off while driving I wouldn't want it to land on another cars front window or perhaps the windows can be damaged or cracked. One last thing that is also a common issue for hondas, that is an issue for mine is that the front bumper is very low it gets stuck on parking bumpers this causes the sides to start breaking and if it were to fall off it would be a major safety concern.
STEERING FEELS LIKE IT STICKS WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION ON STRAIGHT HIGHWAY OR FAST CITY STREET, REQUIRING EXTRA FORCE TO CORRECT STEERING, RESULTING IN DANGEROUS OVERCORRECTIONS. NOT NOTICEABLE WHEN NAVIGATING A CURVE OR CORNER.
AIR CONDITIONER IN VEHICLE STOPPED COOLING CAUSING EXCESS BUILD UP OF MOISTURE ON INTERIOR WINDSHIELD AND SIDE WINDOWS IMPAIRING VISIBILITY AND SAFE OPERATION OF VEHICLE. RAINING PREVENTED THE ABILITY TO ROLL WINDOWS DOWN TO CLEAR WINDSHIELD AND WINDOWS. HAD TO MANUALLY WIPE THE INTERIOR OF WINDOWS AND WINDSHIELD TO SEE CONSTANTLY UNTIL I MADE IT BACK TO MY HOME.
I WAS ON AN ERRAND TRIP FROM ALHAMBRA TO SANTA ANA. AIR CONDITIONER IS WORKING FINE UNTIL I STOPPED TO DROP OFF DOCUMENTS IN ALHAMBRA. THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING WHEN I RETURN AND STARTUP MY CAR. MY VEHICLE WAS AT 66700 MILES. NO ACCIDENT HISTORY. NORM REEVES HONDA AT WEST COVINA DIAGNOSED BOTH A/C COMPRESSOR AND CONDENSER ARE LEAKING. REQUEST GOODWILL REPAIR FROM AMERICA HONDA BUT WAS ULTIMATELY DENIED.
JUST THE OTHER DAY I FLOORED IT TO PASS SOMEONE AND MY CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH A FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. AS I PRESSED THE GAS THE RPM'S WOULD GO UP BUT I HAD 0 ACCELERATION. I EVENTUALLY PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE CAR AND IMMEDIATELY WHEN I TURNED IT, MY CAR STAR SHUTTLE BEFORE STOP THE ACCELERATION AND HAPPEND EVERY TIME WHEN I TRY ACCELERATE THE CAR
The fuel injectors failed at 73,000miles. It can be inspected at a Honda dealership for their hourly labor rate. The car starts to display the following warning messages and lights; Emission system problem, Brake system problem, Brake hold system problem, Power steering system (EPS) problem, vehicle stability assist (VSA) problem, Hill start assist problem and then it goes into limp mode. I couldn’t safely drive on the interstate highway I drive everyday to and from work. It is dangerous to be driving 70+mph and suddenly not be able to drive even 15mph. I have to merge through 4 lanes of traffic and I’m losing speed and power. I have to put my hazard lights on and other drivers are swerving around me and beeping their horns (and worse) at me. I bought a second set of injectors from a Honda dealership and they confirmed that they knew there are issues. This set lasted just over 18months (about 55,000miles). At that point the following warning messages and lights started coming on; Emission system problem, Brake system problem, Brake hold system problem, Power steering system (EPS) problem, vehicle stability assist (VSA) problem, Hill start assist problem and then it would begin going into limp mode again. I went back to the same Honda dealership to talk to them about this issue and they said Honda has a new part number and they cannot order the same injectors I currently have (my second set) and they couldn’t explain the difference between the “old part #” injectors and the “new part #” injectors. So they ordered me a new set and warned me that they are on back order and there is a list of people who have also ordered. I have been waiting for almost 2 months now and frequently call to inquire on the status of my order and they say they cannot tell me anything because they have not heard from Honda and have no information about the status of any of the orders.
MY CAR ALARM RANDOMLY STARTED GOING OFF WHILE PARKED FOR THREE DAYS, THREE DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE DAY. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED BACK TO BACK AT 2AM WHILE PARKED. I TRIED TURNING IT OFF WITH MY KEY FOB AND IT WOULD NOT REGISTER. I OPENED THE CAR WITH THE KEY IN THE FOB AND PUSHED THE START BUTTON, THE ENGINE STARTED AND I REMAINED PARKED. THEN I TRIED TURNING THE CAR OFF BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF, INSTEAD THE LIGHTS FLICKERED ON THE DASH AND THE CAR STAYED ON. I TRIED IT 2 MORE TIMES AND IT FINALLY TURNED OFF THE ENGINE BUT NOT THE DASH. ALL THE WARNING SIGNS CAME ON THE CAR INCLUDING A BREAK SYSTEMS ERROR AND A TIRE PRESSURE ERROR. AFTER THIS, I TOOK THE BATTERY OUT OF MY FOB AND NOW THE CAR BATTERY IS DEAD. I POWERED UP THE BATTERY TODAY BUT THE CAR WON'T START. THE DASH TURNS ON BUT THEN IT JUST FLICKERS AND GIVES ME ALL THE SAME WARNING SIGNS. I FOUND THERE WERE RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE ON 2016 CIVICS AND THAT THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO 2017 AND 2018 CIVIC AS WELL. MINE IS A 2017 CIVI AND IT'S HAVING ALL THESE ISSUES THAT COULD BE DEADLY IF THEY HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY.
2020 I HAVEN'T USED THE CAR MUCH DO TO COVID-19. MAYBE 1000 MILES. FEBRUARY 2021 I NOTICED THE COLD AIR CONDITIONING DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. SEEMS THAT THE AIR ONLY BLOWS. I JUST DISCOVERED TODAY THAT HONDA SEEMS TO HAVE ISSUES WITH AC CONDENSERS. I SENT AN EMAIL TO HONDA TO SEE IF MY VIN HAS THE WARRANTY FOR THE CONDENSER. I WILL INSPECT IT AND SEE IF THAT'S WHAT IS GOING ON. CAR HAS 40K MILES. 2017 SEDAN EX 2.0L NEED AC TO DEFOG WINDSHIELD FOR VISIBILITY! AND KEEP ME COOL SO I CAN OPERATE THE VEHICLE SAFELY! I'M NOT SURE IF IT FAILED AT SOME POINT IN 2020. BUT I JUST NOTICED IT NOW DURING SOME VERY HOT DAYS. AUTOMATIC BREAKING SHOULD HAVE RECALL. WHEN I DRIVE AND SOMEONE IN FRONT JUMPS ACROSS MY LANE TO GET INTO ANOTHER LANE, THE CAR WILL SLAM THE BRAKES AFTER THE CAR IN FRONT IS ALREADY LEFT THE LANE AND IT'S INSIDE ANOTHER LANE. THAT'S A VERY DELAYED RESPONSE AND UNNECESSARY BECAUSE OTHER CARS BEHIND ME NEED TO GET ON THE BRAKE HARD TO AVOID HITTING ME. I TRY TO FLOOR IT IN SITUATIONS LIKE THIS BUT THE SYSTEM WON'T LET ME. THE ONLY THING THIS LEAVES ME TO DO IS DISABLED THE SYSTEM BY HOLDING DOWN THE BUTTON. BUT THAT REMOVES THE SAFETY FEATURES. SOMETIMES SOMEONE IN FRONT OF ME BRAKES FAST SUDDENLY. I JUMP TO ANOTHER LANE AND THE SYSTEM APPLIES THE BRAKES ONCE I ALREADY JUMPED INTO ANOTHER LANE WITH NOBODY IN IT. HOWEVER IF THERE IS SOMEONE BEHIND, THEN THE PERSON HONKS BECAUSE THE CAR JUST SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES! I HAVE VIDEO PROOF OF THIS. IT'S AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN
STARTED DRIVING WHEN SEVERAL WARNING LABELS CAME ON THAT INCLUDED BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM, EMISSION SYSTEM FAILURE, HILL ASSIST FAILURE, AND POWER STEERING PROBLEM ABLE TO DRIVE AROUND BLOCK USING BRAKES, NORMAL POWER, RUNNING FINE. GOT INTO DRIVE WAY BRAKES NOT WORKING ALMOST RUNNING INTO GARAGE DOOR. SHUT OF CAR, UNPLUG BATTERY, AND WAIT TO RESET COMPUTER. PLUG BATTERY BACK ON WORK FOR 4 DAYS THEN DID IT AGAIN. LUCKY I WASNT DRIVING FASTER AND THERE WASN'T A CHILD IN FRONT OF CAR WHEN BRAKES QUIT WORKING. SOME ONE IS GOING TO GET RUN OVER IF THIS COMPUTER/ SOFTWARE IS NOT FIXED. IT SHOULDN'T COME TO THAT.
2017 honda civic, 60K miles, started blowing warm air. Dealership stated it wasn't the condenser thats under active recall, it just happens to be the compressor. $2500 to fix, 3 weeks and I havent heard from Honda Corp. This presents a clear safety concern under wet and humid conditions due to condensation on the windshield.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 HONDA CIVIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE AND THEN STALL. THERE WERE SEVERAL CODES DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WAS RESET BY RESTARTING THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 3 TIMES OR REMOVING AND REPLACING THE BATTERY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH A DEALER. THE CONTACT LEARNED OF SERVICE BULLETIN: 10142655 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,300.
MY SON AND I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 2017 HONDA CIVIC SEDAN ON DEC 3RD FROM HONDA OF LISLE IL. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED WITH 22,100 MILES. MY SON WAS DRIVING ON DEC 10TH AND STOPPED FOR GAS FOR THE FIRST TIME. HE GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND STARTED IT UP. HE NOTICED THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HE IMMEDIATELY CAM HOME AND CALLED FOR AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE NEXT DAY TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AT THE DEALER. AS HE WAS DRIVING TO THE DEALER HE GOT ABOUT 1 MILE DOWN THE ROAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN BLACK SMOKE STARTED POURING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE CAR FROZE UP AND IMMEDIATELY BURST INTO FLAMES. THANKFULLY IT HAPPENED ON A SIDE STREET AS HE WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A LAW THAT THEY NEED TO TAKE IT BACK WITHIN 15 DAYS OR LESS THAN 500 MILES, THEY ESSENTIALLY TOLD ME IT WASN'T THEIR PROBLEM AND I NEEDED TO GET MY INSURANCE INVOLVED. A FIRE INSPECTOR HIRED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY LOOKED AT THE TOTALED VEHICLE AND SUSPECTED THE FIRE STARTED NEAR THE BATTERY. MY INSURANCE COMPANY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A FIRE ENGINEER INSPECT IT AT A COST OF $5,000 THEREFORE THEY WILL NOT PURSUE FURTHER. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED TO A CERTIFIED CAR WITH 22K MILES. FULL VIDEO HTTPS://YOUTU.BE/TTSVY7ZGMW8
I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HONDA, STATING THAT THE A/C CONDENSER ON MY 2017 CIVIC WAS NOT MANUFACTURED TO SPECIFICATION, WHICH MAY ALLOW REFRIGERANT TO LEAK OUT. THE LETTER THEN STATES IF THE A/C DOES NOT BLOW COLD AIR, TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR A REPAIR AT NO CHARGE. HOWEVER, WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, THEY WOULD NOT LOOK AT THE CAR UNLESS I AGREED TO PAY $330 FOR THE INSPECTION, IN CASE THE INSPECTION SHOWS THE CONDENSER IS NOT LEAKING. I FEEL THAT IF HONDA HAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CONDENSER AND IF THERE IS ANY INDICATION OF A POSSIBLE FAILURE (SUCH AS THE A/C NOT BLOWING COLD AIR), HONDA SHOULD PAY TO HAVE IT INSPECTED TO DETERMINE IF THE FAULTY CONDENSER IS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. BUT HONDA REFUSES TO COVER THE INSPECTION. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP? THANK YOU.
WE DRIVE A 2017 HONDA CIVIC HATCH AND WE HAD TO TAKE VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP. THEY DIAGNOSED IT WITH RODENT ISSUE CHEWING THRU WIRE. WE NOW HAVE TO FIX IT AND REPLACE WIRE AND THE DEALERSHIP WILL PUT A TAKE TO DETERS RODENTS. WE HAVE TO PAY $500 DOLLARS TO REPLACE. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND HIS POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID WE HAVE TO PAY FOR DAMAGE BUT THEY DID SAY MANY CUSTOMERS HAVE CALLED HONDA TO COMPLAIN ABOUT ISSUE. SO IT IS A KNOW ISSUE AND NO RECALL HAS BEEN DONE. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE HONDA DOES SOMETHING ABOUT IT. HELP
CAR WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE AND THE ALARM SET ITSELF OFF MULTIPLE TIMES, WHEN I APPROACHED THE CAR IT WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO ANY KEY FOB COMMANDS AND THE DASHBOARD WAS COMPLETELY LIT WITH FLASHING SAFETY FEATURE WARNING LIGHTS, AND AIRBAGS WERE ALSO DISABLED. HAD TO OPEN THE CAR WITH THE MANUAL KEY, SINCE THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE KEY FOB. STARTED THE CAR TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON, WHEN I WENT TO TURN IT OFF AGAIN, IT REFUSED AND WOULDN'T TURN OFF. I PROCEEDED TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AFTER MULTIPLE FAILED ATTEMPTS TO GET THE CAR TO RESPOND TO THE KEY FOB AND THEY TURNED THE CAR OFF. TWO DAYS LATER I DROVE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE WHOLE WAY THERE ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON AND ALL THE SAFETY FEATURES WERE DISABLED AND NOT WORKING. DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO COOPERATE OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE AT HAND. TOOK IT TWO TIMES JUST TO BE TURNED AWAY AND TOLD THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME OUT, AS THEY CLAIMED THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, EVEN THOUGH WHEN WE WENT TO PICK IT UP THE VEHICLE WAS STILL NOT WORKING. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW, I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER, ONLY HAS 14,600 MILES. DEALERSHIP MANAGER TOLD US THAT CORPORATE HONDA COMMANDED HIM NOT TO TOUCH THE VEHICLE AND TO TELL US TO PICK IT UP. DROVE THE CAR BACK STILL BROKEN, WITH ALL SAFETY FEATURES NOT WORKING, WARNING LIGHTS ON, AND THE ALARM CONTINUES TO SET ITSELF OFF. HAD TO DISCONNECT BATTERY AND IT HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY GARAGE UNUSABLE FOR TWO WEEKS NOW, FOR IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. ATTEMPTED VARIOUS TIMES TO CONTACT CORPORATE HONDA FOR HELP WITH THIS ISSUE, YET THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT IS GOING ON AND WILL NOT RESPOND. PLEASE HELP, THIS CAR IS UNSAFE AND MUST BE RECALLED. WHAT WOULD IT TAKE FOR HONDA TO OWN UP? IT SEEMS SAFETY IS NOT A CONCERN FOR THEM. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR THE CAR IS CONTROLLED BY UNRESPONSIVE ELECTRONICS.
2017 HONDA CIVIC WITH 23,400 MILES A/C ONCE AGAIN STOPPED WORKING. SYSTEM WAS CHECKED BY HONDA AND RE-CHARGED UNDER WARRANTY BUT A/C IS NOT WORKING AGAIN. THIS CREATED A DANGEROUS DRIVING SCENARIO IN WHICH THE FRONT WINDOW WOULD NOT DEFROST DURING A HEAVY RAINSTORM
MY 2017 HONDA CIVIC EX-T COUPE SHUTS DOWN MY DIGITAL SCREEN AND AUDIO SYSTEM WITH THE MESSAGE "AMP IS IN PROTECTION MODE" THIS THEN MAKES ANY HANDS FREE DEVICES TURN COMPLETELY OFF FROM THE CAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IN MY STATE, CELL PHONES AND ANY OTHER FORM OF ELECTRONICS ARE NOT PERMITTED. SO WHEN BEING ON THE PHONE OR USING GPS IT SHUTS EVERYTHING DOWN AND THATS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I RECENTLY WENT TO MANY HONDA DEALERS AND THEY HAVE CONTACTED HONDA NORTH AMERICA BUT THEY TOLD ME HONDA DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE AND THAT THEY RECALLED THE 2016 HONDA CIVICS FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE, BUT SINCE THEY DIDN'T RECALL THE 2017 HONDA CIVICS THEN THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THIS PROBLEM IS STRESSING ME OUT BECAUSE I CAN'T FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON MY GPS OR ANSWER IMPORTANT CALLS IF NEEDED. ALSO I WENT TO AUDIO TECHS WHO TOLD ME THIS IS THE MOST BIZARRE SITUATION THEY'VE EVER EXPERIENCED. I DO NOT THINK IT IS FAIR FOR ME TO PAY ALL OF THIS MONEY ON MY NEW CAR (ONLY OWNED FOR 3 MONTHS). I AM ALSO A FIRST TIME BUYER AND THIS MAKES ME REGRET EVER BUYING A CAR! THE VEHICLE IS ON FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN THE MESSAGE OCCURS AND THEN SHUTS OFF EVERYTHING. I EVEN GOT MY WHOLE AUDIO SYSTEM AND AMP TAKEN OUT FOR FURTHER TESTS AND NO-ONE SEEMS TO KNOW. IF YOU GUYS CAN HELP IN ANYWAY TO RECALL THE 2017 CIVICS WITH THIS ISSUE THAT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU
A/C CONDENSOR HAS MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THIS VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DETAILED HERE HTTPS://STATIC.NHTSA.GOV/ODI/TSBS/2019/MC-10163796-0001.PDF A/C HAS BEEN RECHARGED WITH REFRIGERANT, WHICH CONTINUES TO LEAK. THE PART HAS NO EXTERNAL IMPACT DAMAGE,!ONLY THE MANUFACTURER DEFECT TEARS. WHEN A/C HAS REFRIGERANT, A HISSING NOISE WAS NOTICED DURING A/C USE, UNTIL REFRIGERANT FULLY EMPTIED FROM THE UNIT. THERE IS ALREADY AN NHTSA DOCUMENT DETAILING EXTENDED WARRANTY OF THE PART FOR HONDA CIVICS, BUT IT EXCLUDES HATCHBACKS.
THE PAINT AROUND THE REAR WINDSHIELD IS PEELING OFF OUR 2017 HONDA CIVIC. IT STARTED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND NOW THE LEFT SIDE HAS STARTED PEELING PRETTY QUICK. THERE'S ONE SPOT WHERE THE PAINT IS CRACKED AND SOME RUST CAN BE SEEN AROUND THE EDGE. THERE HAS BEEN NO DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND STAYS INSIDE THE GARAGE WHEN WE ARE AT HOME.
ON MY HONDA CIVIC I HAVE THE OIL DILUTION PROBLEM WHICH WAS VERIFIED BY A MECHANIC. WHEN I HAD THE OIL CHANGE THEY SAID GASOLINE CAME OUT WITH THE OIL. TWO DAYS BEFORE I WENT TO GET THE OIL CHANGE THE FUEL IN THE OIL CAUSED MY ENGINE TO STALL AND ME AND MY FRIEND ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY MANY CARS FLYING UP ON US. WE WERE BARELY ABLE TO GET JUST BARELY INCHES OFF THE FREEWAY BUT EVERY CAR CAME WITHIN INCHES OF HITTING OUR CAR AND ALMOST KILLING US. AFTER A WHILE THE CAR EVENTUALLY STARTED BACK UP AND WE CONTINUED DOWN THE FREEWAY ONLY TO HAVE THE CAR STALL AGAIN AND WE NEARLY GETTING HIT AGAIN BY ANOTHER CAR. I'M ACTUALLY AFRAID TO EVEN DRIVE MY CAR NOW AFTER THIS INCIDENT AND I'VE BEEN READING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE ONLINE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I THINK THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND HONDA SHOULD RECALL MINE AND OTHERS CARS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE FOR THIS COULD CAUSE FATALITIES. I HAVE THE 1.5 L TURBO ENGINE BY THE WAY AND I'VE HEARD COMPLAINTS ABOUT OTHERS WITH THIS MOTOR WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I'M NOT SURE EXACTLY HOW THE FUEL MIXING WITH THE OIL CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STALL. ALL I KNOW IS CONSUMER REPORTS HAS OTHER PEOPLE MENTIONING THEIR ENGINE STALLING. I BELIEVE IT COULD BE SOMETHING THE ENGINE DETECTS IN THE OIL AND SHUTS THE ENGINE DOWN AS A WAY OF PROTECTING IT FROM POSSIBLE LOW OIL PRESSURE BECAUSE OF THE FUEL. BY THE WAY I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR FOR TWO YEARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST INCIDENT THAT HAS HAPPENED. RECENTLY OVER THE LAST COUPLE MONTHS I HAVEN'T BEEN DRIVING THAT MUCH AND THEREFORE THE OIL WAS DILUTING WITH THE FUEL MORE THAN NORMAL SO THAT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT. AND ALSO I LIVE IN A HOT CLIMATE IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. HONDA THINKS THAT IT'S ONLY HAPPENING IN COLDER COLDER CLIMATES WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY ABSURD. YOU CAN LITERALLY SMELL GASOLINE ON THE DIPSTICK AND THE DIPSTICK WAS 1/2 QT. OVER. STILL HAD 50% OIL LIFE.
