NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
Data synced from NHTSA on May 4, 2026
The front passenger side axle seal leaking transmission fluid. This leak caused a loss of transmission fluid which, if not discovered, could have caused sudden power loss and lockup of transmission. This would no doubt have caused a collision resulting in serious injury or death. I believe Honda is aware of this defect and has yet to issue a recall.
My SUV's Moonroof glass "exploded with a big loud bang" while driving at about 65 miles per hour in a central lane on March 16, 2023 at about 8:00-8:30 pm. My home was about less than 1 -1/2 to 2 miles away. I parked my car at the garage and noticed the my moonroof glass had completely shattered. My SUV had less than 4000 miles on it and still is under manufacture's warranty.
The contact owns a 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the contact detected an abnormal cracking noise. The contact noticed that the moon roof had exploded and shattered without impact. There were no injuries sustained. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.
Sun roof spontaneously exploded while driving on highway
even when the steering assist is off it pulls to left really bad and it just feels like car is steering itself, also the braking system we give you an alert when no threat..
Doors locks malfunctioned intermittently as it doesn't lock and a beep goes on. One has to re-opened the door for the door to lock permanently until you need to get back into the car. The problem occurred from December 1 2022 to April 15 2023. It could be any doors. It is a safety issue for myself and others. I brought the Honda Touring several times to the Honda dealer and they claim it could not be reproduced. However I have multiple tapes to confirm the problem. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. I bought the car at Auto Fair New Hampshire and the problem started after December 2022 till April 15 , 2023. Then it completely stopped . I brought up the same concern to Honda Auburn and Customer Service Honda with video tapes and it got nowhere. The same problem started again on November 1, 2023......
The automatic emergency braking system was activated even though there was nothing in my path, causing me to stop short in the middle of the street. I could have been rear ended, but fortunately there was no car behind me. The vehicle has not yet been inspected.
The contact owns a 2022 Honda CR-V. The contact stated after exiting the vehicle, all 4 doors latches failed to engage intermittently. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer on four different occasions but was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.
I hit a deer with my car and pulled over to emergency lane. I had a hard time to make the car stop rolling. I pressed brake, emergency brake, car was stuck in neutral. I thought car was stopped and got of car . Car began rolling and i was holding onto passenger door handle and I could not open door to jump in and stop car. I had to let it go and it went into the lane on the highway and stop finally.. Luckily no one hit the car or got hurt. I had to stay seated in the car with my foot on brake with a cop behind me until a tow truck arrived. Car would not start, park or anything.
Less than a year old and at 3207 miles, the vehicle would not start and showed absolutely no life. The 12v battery was completely drained and required a jump start. The battery did NOT go bad, has no dead cells and the charging system shows no issues when tested. Either the hybrid has a parasitic drain on the low-end battery or the hybrid system does not consider when the 12v battery is low, the gas engine needs to run for charging the 12v battery.
While driving in adaptive Cruise control Car applied brake even though no vehicle present can n front of the car. This lead to car behind me apply the brakes. This could be dangerous in future.
When traveling with the cruise control engaged, the vehicle will suddenly begin braking with no vehicles or objects in front of the vehicle. It’s occurred multiple occasions and some episodes are a quick braking where it then suddenly accelerates back up to the set speed, and during other episodes I quickly hit the accelerator as I wasn’t sure if it was going to recover itself and I did not want to get rear ended.
The contact owns a 2022 Honda CR-V. The vehicle was parked by a storefront on a slope, the front end was pointed downhill. The contact stated that he was loading a vacuum into the rear of the vehicle and the liftgate was up. The contact was bending at the waist and his head, shoulders, and chest were inside the vehicle as he loaded the vacuum, when the lift gate triggered and closed down on his lower back. The contact stated that there was no warning, and also the gate safety devices had failed and had not sensed that he was partially inside the vehicle. The contact stated that the lift gate had attempted to continue closing and he had felt pressure on his lower back and was almost trapped by the liftgate. The contact had used his upper back to push the lift gate up and had squeezed out as the liftgate closed. The contact stated that he had suffered injuries to his lower back, however, he did not seek medical attention. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer, and the vehicle was not diagnosed and not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
Brakes: loud squealing while in reverse and stop sign. Also steering and turning steering wheel. Fuel system looses power. Getting poor gas mileage. Rear windows tweet. Took to Vern Eide Honda on 12/08/22. Top certified mechanic looked at brakes steering and fuel system no problems found. Oil life dropped 20% in less than a month drive work and home. Less than 50 miles per day. Additional rear windows tweet and door handle squeak like rusty. Problem started in August of 2022 and is now 90%worse. Had also taken vehicle to Harr Honda on 1/16/23 they greased brakes said nothing they can do wait for recall.
The electronic dashboard looks like a video game. Both the book and the dealer told me that I must watch the dashboard for the signal that the electric vehicle or EV mode is ready to engage. I must then with my right hand press a button that is below the entertainment center. There is also an economy mode. Again the dashboard tells me when it’s ready and I’m supposed to push that button when that light appears This is very distracting and dangerous. This should all be done automatically by the computer
In April 2022, my dad purchased a brand new Honda CRV 2022 hybrid touring edition. This car was deemed as one of the safest cars on the market and was his main intent while buying it. A couple of weeks ago this car was the prime suspect of a fire that impacted both the car and our house. Let me break down exactly how this occurred and where the blame should fall on this situation. When I was slowly backing out of my garage, I noticed that my car was not straight and that I needed to turn my wheel in order to straighten it out. When doing so, 3/4 of my car made it out of the garage, even the side mirrors. However, the area on the top left on my wheel scratched the side of my garage. When this occurred, I did not think much of it since scratching cars is not that uncommon, especially when reversing. The worst that is expected to happen is chipping of the paint and a minor dent. But when I got out of the car to access the situation I noticed that smoke started releasing out of the area of the impact. By the time I called my dad, a little fire was also present at the area of the impact. He advised me to go inside the house and use water or other resources in order to try putting out the fire myself. So I went inside and by the time I got back, the fire had greatly increased in size. This all happened in a matter of 2 minutes! I quickly called 911 and 2 police cars came as soon as possible. The officers tried to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher but there was no luck. The flames have already started making its way up the side of the garage and engulfing some of the sidings. After a while, the fire department put out the fire. How can a scratch of 2-inch depth, 4-inch width, and 6-inch height cause immense damage to a car and a house! Honda needs to consider this when reviewing the architectural design of its battery position. This is a serious safety flaw that could jeopardize many lives. I was grateful that the fire did not impact me but I fear for others.
2022 HONDA CR-V HYBRID. CONSTITUENT STATED THAT THE HYBRID IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THEY ARE AVERAGING LESS MPG THAN THE ADVERTISED 35-38 MILES PER GALLON WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE.
When driving between 45 and 50 miles per hour the vehicle did an automatic hard brake...luckily there was no one behind me. I have reported it to the dealer and have an appointment to have the system checked next week.
I was going south bound up a hill. Less then 20 mph and was blinded by the sun. The old folks in front of me were also blinded by the sun and stopped in the middle of the hill. My automatic emergency braking system did not kick in and I ran right into them. We could have been hurt. My car is being fixed in a collision repair shop now.
The center navigation/infotainment system failed at 436 miles. This prevented all functionality including the ability to use any climate control functionality and the backup camera.
