WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK. AFTER TAPPING PEDAL TWICE IT BECAME UNSTUCK. THEN, AT 40 MPH UPHILL PEDAL STUCK AGAIN, AFTER TAPPING PEDAL TWICE, VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN, CONSUMER SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL, AND SHUT OFF ENGINE. DEALER REPLACED THROTTLE CABLE. *AK

OWNER STARTED VEHICLE, PROCEEDED TO PUT IN REVERSE, PUT FOOT ON BRAKE AND VEHICLE FLEW BACKWARDS AT A TREMENDOUS RATE OF SPEED, STRUCK VEHICLE IN REAR, THEN PROPELLED FORWARD AT AN EXTREMELY HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND HIT VEHICLE IN FRONT, VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, CRASH CAUSED BY FLOOR MAT INTERFERING WITH ACCELERATOR PEDAL, SERVICE BULLETIN (99-034) AND RECALL (99E-015)FOR 96-98 CIVICS. MY MOM'S 1999 HONDA CRV HAD TO UNDERGO SEVERAL VALVE JOBS FROM DIFFERENT DEALERS WHEN IT HAD UNDER 75,000 MILES BECAUSE THERE WERE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE. NUMEROUS COSTS TOTALED OVER $2000. CONTACTED HONDA, BUT THERE WEREN'T ANY RECALLS, OR KNOWN PROBLEMS AT THE TIME. SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF OTHER CRV'S ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM THOUGH. SHOULDN'T HONDA FIX THIS PROBLEM BY SENDING OUT A RECALL AS IT IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE OWNERS OF THE CAR?. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT CHANGE TO A HIGHER GEAR. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND DEALER INDICATED THAT TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
ALL 4 BRIDGESTONE DUELER HT TIRES REPLACED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE, BECAUSE OF CRACKS ALONG THE SIDEWALL, P20570S15, OWNER WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED. *CJ
ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED BECAUSE OF CRACKS ALONG THE SIDEWALL, BRIDGESTONE DUELER HT 684, 20570R15, TUBELESS STEEL BELTED RADIALS M&S, OWNER WOULD LIKE RESTITUTION FOR THE MONEY SPENT TO REPLACE TIRES. CJ
ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK PASSENGER'S DOOR IS BY USING DRIVER'S SIDE BUTTON. CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IF IN AN ACCIDENT AND PASSENGER WAS UNCONSCIOUS HOW WOULD THEY GET OUT. *AK CONSUMER STATES PASSENGER NOT ABLE TO USE HANDLE TO GET OUT OF VEHICLE. *JB
I HAVE A 1999 HONDA CRV AND THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN NOT GOING INTO GEAR LIKE IT SHOULD, AND I HAVE TAKEN THE CRV TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT HAVE TO GIVE IT TIME TO CHANGE GEAR. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE CRV IT WASN'T DOING THAT SO WHY IS IT DOING IT NOW. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS. *AK
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO FIRST GEAR WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP AND NOT COMPLETELY STOPPING, BUT RATHER, ACCELERATING RAPIDLY AFTER SLOWING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACE A SOLENOID AND DRAINED AND REFILLED THE TRANSMISSION 3 TIMES. IT WAS BETTER BUT NOT ELIMINATED. THEN, ON APRIL 20, THEY REPLACED THE ECM AND THOUGHT THEY HAD IT FIXED. HOWEVER, IT AGAIN SLAMMED INTO FIRST GEAR AS HARD AS EVER. THEY INITIALLY OFFERED TO EXCHANGE THE TRANSMISSION, BUT SEEM TO BE SHYING AWAY FROM THAT NOW. ADDITIONALLY, IT WILL NOT SHIFT INTO OVERDRIVE FOR THE FIRST 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING WHEN IT IS COLD. *AK
VEHICLE STALLING AND EXPERIENCING VIBRATION DUE TO ENGINE CYLINDER FAILURE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD HATCHBACK WINDOW BLEW OUT FOR NO REASON. DEALER CONTACTED , AND STATED THAT CONSUMER WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. REPAIRWORK DONE (INSURANCE CO.) EXPENSE. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
PICKED UP NEW CAR FROM OKLAHOMA DEALER, DROVE HOME, ONE HOUR LATER CAR WON'T START. DEALER PICKS UP CAR, FIXES BRINGS BACK TO US, SAID IT WAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH FUSE PANEL. SEVERAL YEARS LATER DRIVING DOWN BUSY FLORIDA INTERSTATE, CAR JUST DIES, AFTER APPROX. 10 MINUTES CAR FINALLY STARTS. TWO MONTHS LATER SAME THING HAPPENS ON SAME INTERSTATE, CAR TOWED TO LOCAL DEALER. TOLD IT WAS A SHORT CAUSED BY AFTER MARKET SUNROOF, NOT WISE TO CLAIM REPAIR THROUGH WARRANTY, COST OVER 500.00 DOLLARS TO FIX. PRESENT DAY, ONCE AGAIN CAR HAS STARTED DYING AND TAKES SOME TIME BEFORE IT WILL RESTART. CONTACTED LOCAL DEALER, THEY SAY VIN NOT ON RECALL LIST. NO PUNCH MARK ON ENGINE COMPARTMENT VIN. *TR
MY RATHER LARGE MOTHER-IN-LAW FITS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT FINE, BUT THE SEAT BELTS ARE TOO SHORT TO GO AROUND HER. HONDA DOES NOT PROVIDE SEAT BELT EXTENDERS AS DO OTHER MANUFACTURERS. I CAN NOT FIND 3RD PARTY EXTENDERS EITHER. *AK
AIR BAG DEFECT AND SBS LIGHT IN DASH GIVE WARNING. *BF THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE LIGHT WAS RELATED TO AND AIR BAG FAILURE. THE DEALER AGREED TO PAY FOR THE PARTS WHILE THE CONSUMER PAID FOR THE LABOR. *NM
CONSUMER STATED THAT HIS 1999 CRV HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS STATED IN TSB 03-038. *KB ***NAR*** THE TSB WAS FOR POOR ENGINE PERFORMANCE DUE TO EXHAUST VALVES RECEDING INTO THE CYLINDER HEADS. THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE FAULTY PARTS. *NM
1999 HONDA CR-V. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE EXHIBITING BEHAVIOR OUTLINED IN RECALL BULLETIN 02-231, STALLING WITHOUT WARNING. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED IT APPEARED THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN 2002, BUT, THERE WERE SEVERAL QUESTIONS INVOLVED. HE STATED THE REPAIR ORDER DID NOT SPECIFICALLY SAY THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS INSTALLED. THE PROCESS MAY HAVE BEEN STARTED, BUT THE PARTS MAY HAVE BEEN ON HOLD. SECOND, THE SERVICE BULLETIN CALLED IN STEP 9 FOR A CENTER PUNCH COMPLETION MARK ABOVE THE EIGHTH CHARACTER OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENTS VIN. NO SUCH MARK EXISTED ON HIS VEHICLE. THIRD, OTHER SERVICE WORK WAS DONE ON THE SAME DAY AS THE RECALL, AND WOULD APPEAR TO LEAVE TOO LITTLE TIME TO COMPLETE THE RECALL WORK THE SAME DAY. AND IF THE SWITCH WAS REPLACED, IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE REPLACEMENT HAS THE SAME DEFECT. *JB THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP AND IT APPEARED THE REPLACEMENT SWITCH HAD ALSO FAILED AS THE ORIGINAL RECALL PROBLEM, WHICH WAS DUE TO BURNT CONTACTS IN THE SWITCH FROM ARCING. I ALMOST REAR ENDED THIS CAR THIS MORNING. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE TOO HIGH ON THE VEHICLE, AND THERE ARE NO BRAKE OR TURN LIGHTS JUST ABOVE THE BUMPER. WITH THE SUN VISOR DOWN, AND BEING ABLE TO SEE ONLY THE LOWER HALF OF THE CAR, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT IN VIEW. DESIGN FLAW!
THE 1999 HONDA CR-V WHICH I HAD LEASED FROM THE DEALER AND DELIVERED ON MARCH 9TH, 1999 WAS BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE 5 TIMES FOR A STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION OCCURING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 47 AND 52 MPH. ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO BALANCE THE TIRES ON A LEAST 4 OCCASIONS AND I HAD BEEN REFERRED TO THE TIRE MANUFACTURER FOR A POSSIBLE TIRE DEFECT AND REPLACEMENT OF BOTH FRONT TIRES. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED AND THE DEALER REBALANCED THE TIRES ONCE AGAIN BUT TO NO AVAIL. A DETERMINATION WAS MADE TO TAKE 4 TIRES OF A SIMILAR VEHICLE WITH NO WHEEL VIBRATION AND PUT THEM ON MY VEHICLE. THIS AGAIN DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THEN DECIDED TO REMOVE THE FRONT AXLE FROM MY VEHICLE AND REPLACE IT WITH THAT OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE PROBLEM. THIS DID NOT HELP. AT THIS TIME, I REQUESTED THAT MY VEHICLE TO BE RETURNED TO ME AND FILED A DEFECT NOTIFICATION FORM UNDER FLORIDA'S MOTOR VEHICLE LEMON LAW. AMERICAN HONDA'S REPRESENTATIVE HAS CONTACTED ME AND HAS SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THEIR FIELD ENGINEER FOR NOVEMBER 16, 1999. I BELIEVE THAT 4 WEEKS IS MUCH TO LONG TO WAIT AS THIS PROBLEM MAY RESULT IN A DRIVING SAFETY HAZARD. THIS VEHICLE IS MY PRIMARY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION AND AS A DISABLED VETERAN IT IS NEEDED FOR TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM MY REGIONAL VA MEDICAL CENTER. I HAD SPOKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP'S GENERAL MANAGER IN AN ATTEMPT TO TURN IN THIS VEHICLE (WHICH ACTUALLY CAME FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP) FOR SIMILAR VEHICLE AS AN AMICABLE SOLUTION TO THIS SITUATION BUT THIS WAS DENIED.
MAJOR ISSUES: EXTREME VIBRATION IN FRONT SUSPENSION WHEN STARTING OUT FROM A STOP; EVEN WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION THE CAR ROLLS BACKWARD ON THE SLIGHTEST INCLINE WHEN FOOT IS TAKEN OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL; THE TIRES ARE VERY SLIPPERY ON WET SURFACES CAUSING THE CAR TO SLIDE AND SKID
NO FAILURE YET, HOWEVER, OWNERS MANUAL CALLS FOR TIRE PRESSURE OF 24 POUNDS FRONT AND REAR. MY QUESTION IS, HAS THERE BEEN ANY TIRE FAILURE DUE TO LOW AIR PRESSURE ON HONDA CRVS. WHAT IS THE CORRECT TIRE PRESSURE FOR A HONDA CRV? WHY DOES HONDA RECOMMEND SUCH A LOW TIRE PRESSURE? IS THERE A ROLL-OVER HAZZARD IN THE HONDA CRV IS TIRE PRESSURE IS 30 PSI?? HONDA'S RECMDED PSI IS MUCH LOWER THAN LISTED ON SIDE WALL OF BRIDGETSTONE TIRE. IS THIS A CONCERN JUST LIKE THE EXPLORER TIRES?
AT 22,000 MILES HEADLIGHTS HAVE BECOME INOPERABLE, CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
CONSUMER IS CONCERNED THAT POWER LOCKS CAN ONLY BE OPERATED BY POWER LOCK PANEL LOCATED ON DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, PASSENGERS CANNOT LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS. *AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 02V12 IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE IGNITION SWITCH. CONSUMER LEARNED THERE WERE STIPULATIONS TO THE RECALL. CONSUMER RECEIVED A REMOTE STARTER AS A GIFT BUT WAS INSTALLED AT A DIFFERENT FACILITY. CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE DEALERSHIP WOULD ONLY REPAIR THE IGNITION SWITCH AND WOULD HAVE TO DEACTIVATE THE REMOTE STARTER. THE DEALERSHIP HOWEVER WILL NOT REACTIVATE THE REMOTE STARTER AND CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER FACILITY AND HAVE THEM REACTIVATE THE STARTER AT CONSUMERS EXPENSE. *JG
THE SEAT BELT SENSOR HAS A FAILURE THAT WOULD CAUSE THE BELT NOT TO RETRACT IN AN ACCIDENT. THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE IS UNDETERMINED.
