TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CRV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED EXCESSIVELY MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THE HIGHWAY WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. IN ADDITION, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS WERE ABNORMALLY DIM. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, PERFORMED REPAIRS TO THE HEADLIGHTS AS ENFORCED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
BEGINNING IN 2008 I BEGAN NOTICING THAT I WAS CHANGING MY HEADLAMP BULBS ON A FAIRLY FREQUENT BASIS. AS MUCH AS 3 OR 4 TIMES A YEAR. MOSTLY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. RECENTLY THE LOW BEAM WENT OUT AGAIN, APRIL 2013, AND WHEN I REPLACED THE BULB THE LOW AND HIGH BEAMS BOTH SHINED VERY DIMLY AND WHEN I SWITCHED ON THE HIGH BEAMS BOTH LAMPS WENT OUT. I AM AT A LOSS BUT SUSPECT THAT THERE IS A SWITCH PROBLEM. HONDA ALSO RECENTLY RECALLED MY VEHICLE FOR A FAULTY MASTER WINDOW SWITCH. *TR
THE LOWBEAM HEADLIGHTS ON OUR 2006 HONDA CRV HAVE FAILED/BURNED OUT NUMEROUS TIMES. SEVERAL TIMES, BOTH LOWBEAMS (RIGHT AND LEFT) HAVE FAILED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING, WHICH IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. SINCE APPROXIMATELY 2008, THE LIGHTS HAVE BURNED OUT SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR, EVERY YEAR. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS THE AMERICAN HONDA CORPORATE OFFICE AND HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE RUNAROUND. THEY REFUSE TO ISSUE A RECALL OR EVEN INSPECT THE LIGHTS. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD TO HAVE A "DIAGNOSTIC" CONDUCTED BY THE DEALERSHIP FOR $120 OUT OF OUR POCKET. HONDA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE SINCE THIS IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE RELATED TO THEIR FAULTY PRODUCT. THEY ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE FOR THE 2003 AND 2004 CRV MODELS. THE SAME ISSUE IS OCCURRING WITH THE 2006 MODEL. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET, YET HONDA REFUSES TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND A POTENTIAL CLASS ACTION. HONDA SHOULD BE PROACTIVE AND OFFER A VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR THOSE WHO ARE AFFECTED BY THE HEADLIGHT FAILURES. PLEASE FILE A COMPLAINT WITH AMERICAN HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CRV WHICH HAS A LIGHT THAT KEEPS COMING ON TELLING ME THAT THE REAR DOOR IS OPEN. IT IS NOT. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS REALLY A SAFETY AND SECURITY PROBLEM BECAUSE WHEN THIS LIGHT IS ON, THE CAR CANNOT BE LOCKED. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM CORRECTED TWICE , THE LAST TIME BEING NOV. 15TH 2007. I AM READY TO TAKE IT BACK BECAUSE NOW IT COMES ON AND PRETTY MUCH STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE STRUCK A CURB. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DAMAGED OR INSPECTED BY A DEALER. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, AND NUMBER OF CYLINDERS WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 43,000.
COMPLAINT MIMICS THE COMPLAINTS HERE IN THE NHTSA, COMPLAINT #'S 10573302, 10576909 AND 10619157 FOR LOW BEAM LAMPS BURNING OUT PREMATURELY SINCE I FIRST PURCHASED IT AS A USED VEHICLE BACK IN 2008 FROM LARRY MILLER HONDA IN HILLSBORO OREGON MUCH LIKE WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CIVIC MODELS FOR STARTERS. WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS WHY HONDA AMERICA IS NOT RESPONDING, WHAT IS THE NHSTA DOING TO APPLY PRESSURE TO ISSUE A SERVICE BULLETIN?
2006 HONDA CRV WITH CRACKED TIRE RIM. CONSUMER STATED THAT THE TIRE WOULD NOT HOLD AIR. WHEN IT WAS INSPECTED THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE WELD WAS CRACKED CAUSING AN AIR LEAK AND THAT THIS IS A FAMILIAR PROBLEM ON THAT VEHICLE. *KB
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUFFERED A RIGHT HAND LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT FAILURE. SINCE THIS FIRST FAILURE THE BULB OF THIS HEADLIGHT HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED APPROXIMATELY 10 TIMES, AND CONTINUOUSLY BURNS OUT AGAIN. THE FUSES REMAIN GOOD, THE RELAYS REMAIN GOOD. IT APPEARS THERE IS A WIRING HARNESS PROBLEM AFFECTING THIS YEAR MODEL AS A GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALS HUNDREDS OF OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE EXPERIENCING A SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUE. MOST REFERENCE A HEAT DAMAGED WIRING CONNECTOR UNDERNEATH THE STEERING COLUMN. *TR
LEFT AND RIGHT TURN SIGNAL LEVER DOES NOT RETURN TO THE OFF POSITION DURING LANE CHANGES - NO LOUD ALARM ALERT TO DRIVER THAT DIRECTIONAL SIGNAL IS CONTINUOUSLY OPERATING. MANY OTHER MAKES AND MODELS PRODUCE A LOUD AUDIBLE TONE TO ALERT THE DRIVER OF SUCH DANGEROUS CONDITIONS - BUT THE HONDA DOES NOT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CRV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WOULD FAIL REPEATEDLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO REPLACE THE LIGHTS EVERY SIX MONTHS. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER OF THE BULB WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT NORMAL. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
THE FRONT END ALIGNMENT ON MY 06 HONDA CRV WILL NOT STAY IN ALIGNMENT, IT WAS RE-ALIGNED SHORTLY AFTER DELIVERY AS A NEW VEHICLE, AND HAS BEEN DONE AGAIN ON 2-3 OCCASIONS. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE AT CHAPMAN HONDA IN TUCSON THAT THE CRV IN QUESTION HAS A PROBLEM WITH PULLING TO THE RIGHT WHICH MINE DOES. HE ADVISED ME THAT HONDA IS SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING ON THE ISSUE BUT COULD OFFER NO FURTHER INFO. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BEAT DID NOT LOCK. AS A RESULT, HER KNEES STRUCK THE DASHBOARD AND WERE BRUISED. THE DEALER REFUSED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 23,500.
I AM NOT SURE IF YOU CAN HELP ME. HOWEVER, MY COMPLAINT IS WITH DESERT HONDA OF LAS VEGAS, NV (702) 369-3099. I TOOK MY 2006 HONDA CRV FOR MAJOR SERVICE, AND THEY DID NOT PROPERLY TIGHTEN THE LEFT LUG NUTS ON MY VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO CATCH THIS OVERSIGHT IN TIME BEFORE I DROVE THE CAR ANY DISTANCE. HOWEVER, THIS WAS A POTENTIALLY FATAL MISTAKE THAT THEY SHRUGGED OFF, AND I'M SURE HAVE FORGOTTEN BY NOW. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR BRIDGESTONE DESSERT DUELER TIRE BLEW OUT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND PULL SAFELY OFF THE ROAD. HE NOTICED THE TREAD HAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 24,581.
THE SEAT BELT LOCKED IN AN OPEN POSITION UPON IMPACT, CAUSING MY FATHER INJURY TO HIS CHEST AS HE WAS IMPACTED UPON THE STEERING WHEEL. I ALSO DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE DRIVER AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY; THE FORCEFUL COLLISION CAUSED THE FRAME IRREPARABLE DAMAGE. THIS VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. I ASKED THAT A REPRESENTATIVE FROM AMERICAN HONDA CORPORATION TAKE A LOOK AT THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS LOCATED AT THREE (3) DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. THEY IGNORED MY REQUEST. THE COMPLAINT NUMBER THAT I WAS ASSIGNED BY AMERICAN HONDA CORPORATION IS #N012007-07-2300426. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, THIS HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *TR
VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT. IT HAS BEEN ALIGNED THREE TIMES. DEALER SAYS ALL AND DO IT. CANNOT BE FIXED. *TR
WATER PUMP FAILURE, ASKED ON THREE OCCASIONS WHILE IN THE REPAIR SHOP ABOUT A NOISE IN THE ENGINE, IT WAS IGNORED OR I WAS TOLD IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE. MY CAR THEN OVERHEATED NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT, BECAUSE IT STALLED. I HAD AN EXTENSIVE REPAIR BILL NEARLY $1000.00. *TR
THIS VEHICLE BLOWS OUT HEADLIGHTS CONSTANTLY. WE REPLACE NEARLY EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS; THIS VEHICLE, AND ITS TWIN, OUR 2005 CRV. WE HAVE REPEATEDLY NOTIFIED HONDA OF THE PROBLEM, THEY DENY A PROBLEM. I CAN'T BELIEVE HEADLIGHTS ONLY WORK FOR A FEW THOUSAND MILES EACH. WE EVEN HAVE SEARCHED AMAZON, EBAY TO SEE IF THEY SELL THEM IN HUNDRED PACKS, ITS THAT RIDICULOUS. WE WERE HEADING TO THE STORE TO BUY A HEADLAMP ONCE--10 MINUTE TRIP, TOPS, AND THE OTHER BLEW OUT ON THE WAY, LEAVING US DRIVING ILLEGALLY WITH THE HIGH BEAMS. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE, AND DANGEROUS, IRRITATION WITH THESE CARS. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO KEEP SEVERAL BULBS ON HAND AS A CONDITION OF OWNING A CAR. *TR
THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT ON THIS VEHICLE HAS BURNED OUT 6 TIMES FOR EACH SIDE (I'VE REPLACED 6 ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE & 6 ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE) SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 6 YEARS AGO. THE IRONIC THING IS THAT I USED TO OWN A 2003 CR-V AND I RECENTLY RECEIVED A RECALL IN THE MAIL FOR THE 2002-2004 MODELS FOR "POTENTIAL FAILURE WITH THE WIRING OF THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WHICH MAY CAUSE THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS TO FAIL". I DID A BIT OF RESEARCH AND SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. SINCE BUYING THIS CAR NEW I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT BULBS BURN OUT. A TOTAL OF 25 BULBS HAVE FAILED SINCE 2007. AFTER REVIEWING THE INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET AND THIS WEB SITE IT IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM WHICH SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND ADDRESSED BY A RECALL TO FIX THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD AN ODD SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL OF MY HONDA CR-V. THE DEALER SAID AFTER THE FIRST CHANGE OF THE FLUID THE SOUND WOULD GO AWAY BUT IT HAS COME BACK OVER AND OVER AGAIN. THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID CHANGE AND I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH 2006 CR-V'S. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 HONDA CRV, BOUGHT NEW FROM LEESBURG HONDA. ON FEB 18,2007 I LEFT CAR IN THEIR REPAIR SHOP BECAUSE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. FEB 20 I PICKED UP CAR, NO REPAIR MADE. THEY CLAIM IT NEEDS A NEW WIPER TRANSMISSION, THAT NONE ARE AVAILABLE FOR NOW, AND THAT IT IS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM. I THINK IT SHOULD BE A WARRANTY ITEM & CALLED HONDA TO COMPLAIN AND WAS GIVEN CASE # N012007-02-2100228. FROM LOCAL AND NATIONAL HONDA I STILL DO NOT HAVE A DATE FOR REPAIR OR A DECISION AS TO WHY IT WAS TURNED DOWN FOR WARRANTY CLAIM. *JB
(1) EVENT LEADING TO THE FAILURE I WAS IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT AND MY DRIVER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DISPITE THE DIRECT CONTACT ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, WHICH BOLTED THE DOOR PERMANTLY SHUT. *JB
THE FIRST RECORDED INCIDENT WAS AT 82411 MILES, WHEN AFTER REPLACING BOTH HEADLAMPS MULTIPLE TIMES AT MY OWN EXPENSE, I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO A THIRD PARTY SERVICE CENTER (THAT I'VE USED FOR YEARS ON MULTIPLE VEHICLES) TO HAVE THE HEADLIGHT CIRCUITRY EVALUATED (NO PROBLEMS FOUND). AS STATED EARLIER, AS OF THIS TIME, I HAD ALREADY PURCHASED SEVERAL REPLACEMENT BULBS. SINCE THIS TIME, I, AGAIN, HAVE REPLACED BOTH HEADLIGHTS MULTIPLE TIMES AT MY OWN EXPENSE. OVER ALL, I WOULD SAY THAT IN THE (APPROX) 7 YEARS OF OWNING THIS CRV, I HAVE REPLACED BOTH HEADLIGHTS APPROX 6-7 TIMES EACH. HAVING SEARCHED THE INTERNET SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS, I FEEL THAT HAVING TO REPLACE THESE HEADLIGHTS AS OFTEN AS I HAVE IS UNREALISTIC AND EVIDENCE OF A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM, BASED ON THE NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. *TR
THE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON THIS VEHICLE DO NOT LAST, CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO DRIVE A LOT OF THE TIME WITH ONLY ONE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHT, WHICH IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. IN THE FIVE YEARS WE HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE REPLACED EACH OF THE FRONT LOW-BEAMS (LEFT AND RIGHT) AT LEAST 10 TIMES EACH. HONDA ONLY HAS THEIR WARRANTY ON THEIR LIGHTS, AND HASN'T TRIED TO DO ANYTHING FURTHER WITH THE VEHICLE PROBLEM TO THIS POINT. IT IS AN AGGRAVATING AND FRUSTRATING PROBLEM, AND ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH THIS VEHICLE FROM THIS TIME PERIOD, AND KNOW OF AT LEAST ONE OWNER OF AN IDENTICAL VEHICLE IN OUR SMALL TOWN WHO IS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH HIS LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2006 CRV EX IN OCTOBER 2006, NOTICEDA NOISE WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY KNEW ABOUT IT AND WOULD FIX IT. AFTER 3 ADDITIONAL VISITS TO THE SERVICE DEPT. WHERE THEY SWITCHED WHEELS, DID AN ALIGNMENT AND STRAIGHTENED THE STEERING WHEEL (WHEEL WAS NEVER CROOKED) THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WHEN DRIVING THIS CAR BECAUSE OF THE CONSISTENT NOISE AND AWKWARD DRIVING EXPERIENCE. THE VEHICLE ALSO PULLS DRASTICALLY TO THE RIGHT WHEN ACCELERATED AND IS A DANGER ON THE HIGHWAY. IF THIS IS HOW THEY THINK THEY WILL RETAIN THEIR REPUTATION, THEY ARE MISTAKEN. I KNOW I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER, AND AM STILL TRYING TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED. *JB
VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT EVEN AFTER PROPER ALIGNMENT. THIS FAILURE IS CONTINUOUS. IN ICE OR SNOW COVER CONDITIONS VEHICLE HAS A TENDENCY TO SLIDE. AFTER SEVERAL VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE BLAME WAS ALWAYS PLACED ON TIRES OR ROTORS. AFTER REPLACING TIRES AND ROTORS THESE SYMPTOMS STILL PERSISTED. *TR
BOUGHT A 2006 CRV IN APROX BEGINNING OF JUNE, AFTER ONLY 10,000 MILES WE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS. THE PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT FAILED, THE SPARE TIRE HOLDER SNAPPED, WENT THROUGH 3 TIRES AND THE CAR STARTED MAKING FUNNY NOISES AND PULLING TO THE RIGHT. WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL NEEDED FLUID REPLACEMENT. AFTER 10,000 MORE MILES THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL HAPPENED AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME THEY SAID WE NEED 2 MORE NEW TIRES AND AN ALIGNMENT. ONCE THE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID IS REPLACED THE NOISE AND THE PULLING STOPS, BUT ONLY AFTER 10,000 MILES IT COMES BACK. THERE WAS A RECALL ON PROBLEMS WITH THE DIFFERENTIAL BUT IT STARTED A COUPLE OF 1000 CARS AFTER OURS, SO WE CAN NOT HAVE OURS FIXED, AND TO MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK GOOD HONDA JUST CHANGED THE MAINTENANCE ON IT TO EVERY 15,000 MILES BUT THE MANUAL SAYS IT ONLY NEEDS IT EVERY 60,000 MILES. *TR
WE HAD A 2006 HONDA CRV. IN A 2 WEEK PERIOD WE EXPERIENCED 2 REAR WHEEL BLOW OUTS. THE FIRST OCCURRED ON A CITY ROAD AFTER DRIVING ON THE TOLL WAY. IT WAS A SIDEWALL BLOWOUT. THE SECOND OCCURRED ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER WHILE DRIVING ON THE TOLL WAY. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WHEN SHE EXPERIENCED A LEFT REAR TIRE BLOW OUT. IT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL, HIT A SEMI, AND ROLL OVER SEVERAL TIMES. MY WIFE SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURIES AND IS STILL UNABLE TO BE OUT OF BED FOR MORE THAN A SHORT TIME. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. AS OF THIS TIME, NO RESULTS ARE IN AS TO THE CAUSE OF THE SIDEWALL BLOWOUTS. *JB
2006 HONDA CRV CAME WITH A BRITISH DASHBOARD, CANNOT READ INSTRUMENT PANEL. INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ONLY COME ON WHEN ITS DARK BUT TURN OFF WITH ANY KIND OF LIGHT. *KB THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE ALTERED TO US SPECIFICATIONS. *JB

I BOUGHT A 2006 HONDA CRV NEW FROM A HONDA DEALER IN MARYLAND. THE CAR HAD ONLY 3 MILES ON IT WHEN PURCHASED. ABOUT A MONTH AFTER HAVING THE CAR THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM WENT OUT. I HAD IT REPLACED. THREE MONTHS LATER THE BEAM WENT OUT AGAIN AND HAD IT REPLACED BY A FRIEND. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM OVER THE LAST SIX YEARS. I HAVE REPLACED MY DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM AT LEAST TEN TIMES OVER THIS TIME FRAME. RECENTLY, (OCT. OF 2011) I TOOK MY CAR TO AAA TO HAVE MY HEADLIGHTS REPAIRED BECAUSE BOTH LOW BEAMS ON DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER SIDE WENT OUT THE SAME DAY AND I WAS TRAVELING OUT OF STATE. THE MECHANICS TOLD ME THAT MY PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS CORRODED AND HAD TO BE REPLACE ENTIRELY.THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT COST ME $600. I AM TAKING MY CAR BACK TO HONDA TODAY (APRIL 2, 2012) TO HAVE THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM REPLACED AGAIN! I ALSO HAD TO PURCHASE HEADLIGHT BOOTS. I PURCHASED A HONDA CRV LX (4WD) IN NOV'06 FROM FAIRFAX HONDA, VA. THE CAR HAD ~ 4400 MILES ON IT WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. WE WERE DRIVING NEAR WHEELING, WV RETURNING BACK TO FAIRFAX, VA. I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 35 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN AS WE WERE NEGOTIATING A MILD CURVE AND SLOPE. JUST OVER THE TOP OF THE SLOPE, THE CAR ABRUPTLY STOPPED. THE WHOLE THING FROM SLOW-DOWN TO ABRUPT HALT WAS 5-10 SECONDS. INITIALLY I COULDN'T EVEN GET IT TO PUT IT ON NEUTRAL TO GET MOVE IT TO THE SHOULDER. AFTER THIS IT HAS TURNED OUT TO BE A VERY FRUSTRATING TIME WITH AMERICAN HONDA AND THE DEALER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE ENGINE HAS COMPLETELY BROKEN DOWN AND HAS TO BE REPLACED (STILL HAVEN'T TOLD ME WHAT CAUSED IT). BEING A NEW CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE, I ASKED AMERICAN HONDA AND THE DEALER FOR A REPLACEMENT. THE CASE OFFICER NEVER CALLED ME INSPITE OF DOZENS OF CALLS (FINALLY REACHED HIM ON THURS). HE ACTUALLY GOT AGGRESSIVE WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THE CAR REPLACEMENT. HE SAID THAT MY REQUEST WOULD NEVER GET APPROVED AND IS A WASTE OF TIME. HE EVEN EXPLICITLY SAID THAT HE WAS GIVING ME AN "ULTIMATUM" - "I'LL GIVE A NEW ENGINE. THEN TAKE THE 7-YR EXTENDED WARRANTY I AM GIVING NOW, OR ELSE I WILL GIVE YOU NOTHING". WHEN I SHOT BACK ASKING IF HE WAS THREATENING ME, HE REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE. NON-DRIVING FAILURE: AT NIGHT, WHEN OPENING CAR THE DOOR, METER NEEDLES KEEP SHAKING REGARDLESS IF KEY IS IN OR OUT. IN-DRIVING FAILURE: FOR EACH DAY FIRST DRIVING, ALL METER NEEDLES SUDDENLY POINT AT 0-POSITION, AND BRAKE & MAINTENANCE LIGHT ON AND DISPLAY KEEPS FLASHING, REGARDLESS IF CAR IS MOVING OR AT A STOP, OR FUEL TANK IS FULL. DEALER MENTIONED THAT EARLY BUILD OF 2006 HONDA CR-VS HAVE SUCH PROBLEM AND AMERICAN HONDA ALREADY KNEW THE PROBLEM. BUT AMERICAN HONDA CLAIMED TO THE CUSTOMER THAT IT DOES NOT KNOW SUCH FAILURE. WE RECENTLY PURCHASED A BRAND NEW HONDA CRV EX LAST APRIL 22, 2006. I NOTICED LAST MAY 8, WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THERE WAS A CONTINOUS WARNING SIGN THAT THE HATCH GLASS WAS OPENED. I STOPPED AND CHECKED BUT IT WAS CLOSED. I MADE SURE THAT IT WAS CLOSED BUT THE WARNING SIGN NEVER STOP. THEN, LAST MAY 13, MY HUSBAND NOTICED THE SAME TIME AND WHEN WE WERE AT THE PARKING LOT AND TRIED TO LOCK IT USING THE REMOTE CONTROL, IT DIDN'T LOCK ANYMORE. MAY 15, I DROVE THE CAR TO COLONIAL HONDA AND HAD THEIR SERVICE DEPT TO CHECK. WHAT THEY WERE TELLING ME THAT MY EXPECTATION TO THE BRAND NEW CAR IS SO HIGH AND ITS ONLY NATURAL TO ENCOUNTER PROBLEM WITH BRAND NEW CAR. THATS THE POINT I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW CAR TO RELEASE ME FROM ANY PROBLEM AND THIS CAR IS ONLY 3 WEEKS OLD. THEY EVEN GAVE US A SERVICE SMALL MANUAL CAR, THAT MAKES ME FEEL MORE DISAPPOINTED TO THE WHOLE THING. THEY WERE TELLING ME THAT THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR IS A VERY SMALL PROBLEM BUT THE BOTTOM LINE, ITS STILL A PROBLEM AND THEY DONT HAVE ANY CONTROL OF ANY SLIGHT PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WAS ONLY MADE BY MAN. I HAD DRIVEN MY CARPOOL FEWER THAN FIVE MILES IN MY 2006 HONDA CRV (WITH FEWER THAN 3,000 MILES ON IT) WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND FELT THE WHOLE VEHICLE SHAKE. WE PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY, STOPPED AND LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE BUT I DID NOT WANT TO CONTINUE TO WORK SO I TURNED AROUND AND RETURNED TO THE CARPOOL PICK UP SITE. AFTER WORK I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND LEFT IT FOR REPAIR. THE SERVICE WRITER FOR THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TO INFORM ME THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED. THE WHOLE EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM HAD SELF-DESTRUCTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CHARGES FOR THIS REPAIR WERE NOT GOING TO BE PAID BY HONDA. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AT NORTH AMERICAN HONDA AND FILED A COMPLAINT. I WAS GIVEN CASE # [XXX]. THE INVESTIGATOR'S NAME IS [XXX]@ [XXX]. I SPOKE TO [XXX] THIS MORNING AND WAS TOLD THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. WHEN I EXPLAINED THE CASE TO [XXX] HE OFFERED TO SPLIT THE COST 50/50. WE PURCHASED A 2006 HONDA CR-V SE ON JANUARY 12, 2006. OUR MAIN CONCERN IS THAT THE VEHICLE SEVERELY PULLS TO THE RIGHT (PTTR). IF I LET GO OF THE STEERING WHEEL ON THE INTERSTATE, THE VEHICLE WILL CROSS OVER INTO THE ADJACENT LANE IN ABOUT 3-4 SECONDS. THE PULL IS MUCH WORSE ON SECONDARY ROADS THAT HAVE A CROWN. IN ADDITION, THE PTTR IS INCREASED BY EVEN MODERATE ACCELERATION. THIS CONDITION WAS APPARENT THE DAY WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER, WE WERE ASSURED THAT AN ALIGNMENT WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM. SO FAR, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIR 3 TIMES. THIS INCLUDED, AN ALIGNMENT, A 5 DAY PERIOD WHERE A HONDA TECHNICAL REPRESENTATIVE WAS CALLED IN TO OVERSEE THE REPAIRS, AND LASTLY A 4 DAY DEALER VISIT WITH REPAIR RECOMMENDATIONS FROM HONDA TECHNICAL. THE FINAL OUTCOME IS THAT HONDA HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT THE PTTR PROBLEM. WE FEEL THAT THE PTTR PROBLEM IS SEVERE AND IT CREATES AN UNSAFE DRIVING SITUATION. SUBSEQUENTLY, WE HAVE FILED A CLAIM WITH THE BBB THAT REQUESTS HONDA TO EITHER REPLACE OR REPURCHASE THE VEHICLE. HONDA HAS DENIED THE REQUEST. AN ARBITRATION HEARING IS PENDING. *NM
THE FRONT ACC ADAPTOR IN MY 2006 CR-V CONSTANTLY BLEW FUSES. I REQUESTED SERVICE ON MY CAR THREE TIMES, AND ALL THREE TIMES THE FUSES WERE ONLY REPLACED. NO ONE SEEMED TO KNOW THE CAUSE OF THE SURGE. I FINALLY TOOK THE CAR BACK AGAIN IN NOVEMBER 2006 AND TOLD THEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM, NOT JUST REPLACE THE FUSE. THE HOUSING OF THE ACC ADAPTOR HAD FAULTY CONNECTIONS THAT CAUSED BOTH CONTACTS TO TOUCH AND THUS BLOW THE FUSES. THE MANAGER OF THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT GAVE ME A PRINTOUT EXPLAINING THAT THE COMPANY HAD KNOWLEDGE OF THE DEFECT SINCE MARCH OF 2006 BUT DID NOT WISH TO DO A RECALL DUE TO THE LIMITED AFFECT THE SURGES HAD ON THE OPERATION OF THE CAR OVERALL. I PERSONALLY TRAVEL EXTENSIVELY WITH MY JOB AND USE MY ACC ADAPTOR DAILY. THIS SPECIFIC DEFECT CAUSED ME TO BE UNABLE TO CHARGE MY PHONE WHILE AWAY FROM MY HOME ON BUSINESS. THE PHONE DIED AND I WAS LEFT WITHOUT A WAY TO CONTACT ANYONE. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT FOR HONDA TO PUBLISH THIS DEFECT IN THE ACC ADAPTOR HOUSING TO ALL OWNERS OF 2006 CR-VS. *NM
