NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2007 Honda CR-V. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
Whenever I unlock the doors, the front passenger and rear passenger doors do not stay unlocked for more than a second. I am worried that if something happened (such as the car catching on fire), my passengers would be unable to get out of the car. I bought this car used with this problem; the owner before me also had this issue. To my knowledge, there was no prior warning to this problem occurring. Lock issues are a common occurrence with the model from 2007-2011 CRVs.
Yes our safety was put at risk my husband was driving the car when this occurred. The rear frame stiffener rusted and broke, the tire almost came off in the process. There were no warnings prior to the event and Honda didn’t reach out notifying us of this problem that they were aware of. The vehicle is available for inspection. The vehicle hasn’t been inspected. We reached out to Honda regarding this and they haven’t wanted to do anything about it. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10189133-0001.pdf https://hondanews.ca/en-CA/hci-corporate/releases/release-ab89226b670509f394802c0ef6b6a0e36e3789d2-statement-by-honda-canada-inc-regarding-safety-recall-2007-11-honda-cr-v
While performing maintenance on the car, I found that the left (drivers) rear mounting bracket which is a part of the frame/body, and hold the right rear trailing arm - holding the rear axle was severely rusted and cracking apart from corrosion. The right (passenger) bracket showed no rust damage. This problem has been reported by others, and Canada has found the same issues and issued a recall for this car/vin group. Although this car is 15 years old, this thick 3/8" heavy metal bracket should not have disintegrated like this even with the salt used on the highways, and is shown with absolutely no issue with the right (passenger side)bracket. Upon taking it to the dealer, there was nothing they could do, nor could they get the "fix" being used in Canada or any other information as to how they are correcting this problem. Suggestion is to buy a new car or take it to a body shop and see if they could fabricate a repair. Honda dealer did not seem to be too concerned about this rust, so I will have to go elsewhere to have it evaluated. From what I have found here on the internet, this is a serious problem, and when it breaks as it has for others, you loose control of the car because the axle is now only attached to one side of the car. If there is a fix for this, (as they have one in Canada) they should be compelled to provide it. This isn't a who pays for the repair. It's been known for some time now, and they should have already addressed this. But to withhold the safety fix isn't acceptable.
On March 20, we were driving 2007 Honda CRV in the city of Worcester, MA at ~20mph when we heard a large "Clunk" followed by a dragging noise and immediate skidding of the vehicle. We were not able to get the vehicle to the side of the road. When it was safe to get out, we noticed the rear wheel was broken and parallel to the ground. The police came and had the car towed to East Side Auto Center 235 Shrewsbury Street Worcester, MA 01604 508-798-9100 Contact Person = Frank Santamaria Upon inspection, Mr. Santamaria informed us that the frame was completely rotted in the rear, causing the suspension components to separate from the frame. He further stated that repair was not possible. In researching the issue, I found that Honda Canada had recalled 2007-2011 Honda CRV's for this same defect. As part of the recall, Honda Canada was buying back eligible vehicles or repairing them at their expense. I filed a claim with Honda America and was denied any compensation. There are several complaints on the internet for the same issue. https://www.carproblemzoo.com/honda/cr-v/body-problems.php Such a catastrophic failure poses a serious safety issue, especially if the failure happens in a congested area, on a highway at elevated speeds, or in a rural area where assistance is not readily accessible. I believe Honda should recall these vehicles before someone gets injured or killed from their neglegence.
The contact owns a 2007 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH and entering a parking lot, the vehicle inadvertently stopped without depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the SRS and Seat Belts warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact heard a sound like breaking glass and the seat belts tightened and trapped the contact and his wife. The contact stated that once he turned the vehicle off the seat belts released; however, the passenger’s side seat belt failed to retract. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer where the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,956. The contact stated that both affected seat belts have been replaced and the vehicle is operating correctly.
My rear passenger side door lock randomly unlocks while driving and it won't lock when I park the car. Our son is 3 years old who sits in a car seat in the back. Very dangerous.
My husband was I voved in a accident where the other driver hit him in the front side of the bumper where one of the airbag indicators are located. We took the vehicle in for inspection of repairs and they told us that that airbag sensor was triggered which caused the airbag light to turn off. We are concerned because of the sensor was hit then why didn’t the airbags deploy?...it shows on the steering wheel the small part has been lifted where the airbag is but it didn’t fully deploy..this is a big safety issue ..the husband could have been seriously injured if this was a huge accident because the airbags should have deployed if the sensors was hit. The seatbelt is also not properly working which is also an indicator that the airbags are not working now. I need someone to get back to me with this issue to resolve this issue and fix my airbags
Power steering rack and pinion failure along with power steering pump was leaking due to leaking hose. Power steering fluid leaking.
The contact owns a 2007 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that the rear driver’s side axle was corroded causing the rear driver’s side tire to detach from the vehicle. The contact called and made the local dealer aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
I had my door lock actuators replaced from a previous recall and now they are acting up again. The front passenger door lock in unlocking and locking whenever I come to a stop and start driving again.
The front passenger door locks by itself almost immediately after unlocking the door. The rear driver's side door makes a loud noise every time the doors are locked/unlocked.
Drivers back door lock keeps locking the whole car or sometimes unlocks .I told the car dealership were I purchased car .They won't fix it because they said I bought as is. So I called the Honda Store in Boardman oh and they told me no recalls on my problem.
I was backing out of a parking space in a lot when my car lurched forward and accelerated. I had to slam on the brake to stop it but by then I had hit the car parked next to me as well as the grocery cart return racks. I did significant damage to both but no one was hurt. A routine maneuver turned into a terrifying event. It felt as if the car went from going routinely in reverse to taking off in drive. At first I thought that my foot had slipped off the brake and stated as much but I was speaking kind of out of shock and bewilderment, it was a pretty intense experience. My foot would not have been on the braked since I was backing out. There were obstacles to my pulling forward, namely the grocery cart return racks. When it was over I turned off my engine and my transmission locked and stayed that way for about 10 minutes. I had a similar experience in March 2019 but it was after a very heavy snowstorm so I didn't file a claim with the insurance carrier, I thought it must be condition related but conditions were perfect yesterday. I noticed that there are similar complaints listed here so what does it take to initiate a recall? I also noticed that a milder version of what I experienced was cause for a recall on the 2008 Honda Ridgeline associated with the accelerator pedal assembly. That resulted in the assembly being replaced in Honda CR-Vs through 2006 so I wonder whether 2007's have a variation of the same problem or they should have been included in that recall. I've filed an insurance claim and I've contacted American Honda but their attitude toward it is pretty casual. Uploading pics of the collision, the idea being that they show the damage done as I am moving forward even though I started out backing up. I don't thing you accept Mac movie formats. Thanks.
While driving vehicle on 07/01/2021 the right rear trailing arm disconnected from the right rear frame rail due to corrosion. Transport Canada issued a recall (#2019-025) for 83,953 Honda CR-V's sold new in Canada for this problem. My Honda CR-V was manufactured at the same plant as those recalled in Canada. The reason for the recall in Canada was because these vehicles were driven on roads treated with deicing materials, much the same as vehicles driven in Illinois. This vehicle has not been inspected by American Honda. This is a clear safety issue due to the nature of the suspension becoming detached with no notice.
The Power Train: Automatic Transmission: Control Module (TCM, PCM) malfunctioned. My safety was at risk because the incident happened while I was operating the vehicle. No. No. The banging noise scared me so much that I turned off the vehicle without looking for warning messages.
When I’m driving my 2007 Honda CRV locks , lock and unlock . At times my passenger lock does not lock even after hitting key fob to lock it.
Car never starts! It needs to be jump-started every single time.
DOOR LOCKS LOCK AND UNLOCK WHILE DRIVING. EVERY TIME I STOP AND START DRIVING AGAIN.. IT ALSO WILL NOT CHIRP WHEN LOCKING DOORS REMOTELY.
DRIVING DOWN A SECONDARY ROAD AT 40 MPH, THE CAR MADE A LOUD CRASHING AND SCRAPING SPUD. THIS MADE THE DRIVER DUCK AND COVER AS IT FELT THAT THE CAR HAD SEEN STRUCK BY SOMETHING. THE CAR THEN BEGAN TO VEER OUT OF CONTROL. THE REAR END BEGAN TO FISHTAIL LEFT INTO THE OPPOSITE LANE THEN BACK AGAIN. THE CAR THEN QUICKLY CAME TO A LAID SCRAPPING STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE WAS FACING PERPENDICULAR TO THE ROAD EXPOSING BROKEN METAL AND FRAME RAIL. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS KILLED.
The passenger side door does not keep locked. A mechanic told me that this is because of faulty door actuator. Honda will not entertain to fix this 2- The Engine timing belt side has a mysterious oil leak. Honda doesnt entertain a fix either.
DOOR LOCKS LOCK AND UNLOCK WHILE DRIVING. EVERY TIME I STOP AND START DRIVING AGAIN, THE LOCKS TRY TO LOCK BUT DO NOT ALL STAY LOCKED. FROM RESEARCHING ONLINE, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS FOR CRVS FROM 2007.
The contact owned a 2007 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 MPH, steering functionality was lost and drove off the road into a ditch. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that there was no damage to the vehicle and the contact was unhurt. The contact had the vehicle towed to a body shop where it was diagnosed that the rear axle had separated from the frame due to severe corrosion of the rear supports. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact sold the vehicle for scrap. The contact had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure) and related the failure to the notification. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 230,000.
Door locks won't lock on all doors, and while driving continues to try and lock the doors
VEHICLE TPMS SYSTEM INDICATOR HAS COME ON TWICE. THE FIRST TIME IT CLEARED ITSELF AFTER 3 DAYS AND THE SECOND TIME IT HAS STAYED ON FOR OVER TWO WEEKS AND IS STILL ON AT THIS TIME. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION BOTH TIMES. THIS SYSTEM INDICATOR ALSO AUTOMATICALLY TURNS ON THE VSA AND CEASES TO MONITOR TIRE PRESSURES WHEN IT IS LIT UP. IF ONE NEEDS TO DISABLE THE VSA DUE TO DRIVING CONDITIONS, IT CANNOT BE DONE. ALSO, ANY TIRE THAT IS LOSING PRESSURE WILL DO SO WITHOUT ALERTING THE DRIVER.
The contact owns a 2007 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, an unknown component detached from the vehicle and the vehicle began to steer to the right independently. The contact stated that the Traction Control Malfunction warning light was illuminated. The contact continued driving to her destination. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the control arms, tie rods, sway bars, engine control unit (ECU), and the steering gear assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that on another occasion while driving, an unknown component detached from the vehicle. The contact stated that the Traction Control Malfunction warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the residence and parked. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure) and associated the previous failures with the recall. The contact called the local dealer and was informed to drive or tow the vehicle to their location to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET, THE RIGHT REAR SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM CAME LOOSE FROM THE FRAME. THE RIGHT WHEEL TIRE SUBSEQUENTLY BECAME LODGED AGAINST THE REAR OF THE WHEEL WELL AT AN ANGLE. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. POLICE ARRIVED TO BLOCK OFF THE NEAREST LANE SO I COULD SAFELY BE TOWED FROM THE SCENE, AS THE CAR WAS UNDRIVABLE. I AM FORTUNATE THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN AT HIGH SPEED, AS I DO NOT BELIEVE I WOULD HAVE SAFELY BEEN ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTROL ARM CAME LOOSE DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST ON THE FRAME. THE AREA AROUND THE MOUNTING LOCATION FOR THE ARM IS TORN AWAY FROM THE FRAME, THE NUTS AND BOLTS ARE STILL ATTACHED TO THE FRAGMENTS OF FRAME THEY WERE ORIGINALLY MOUNTED TO. THIS MODEL YEAR CRV IS UNDER RECALL FOR EXCESSIVE CORROSION IN CANADIAN PROVINCES WHERE ROAD SALT IS EXTENSIVELY USED IN WINTER. THIS MODEL WAS PURCHASED IN MINNESOTA, WHERE ROAD SALT IS EXTENSIVELY USED IN WINTER.
This vehicle was purchased used in 2018. Locks were working appropriately. Since then, all 3 locks besides the driver side have failed. I would be so appreciative if the recall would be honored and Honda would pay for the repair and labor to have these problems fixed. It is known to be a mechanical problem and no fault of my own.
DRIVING AT 30 MPH, JUST GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY DOING 70 MPH, ALMOST AT HOME WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WHEEL BROKE OFF OF FRAME, STUCK IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, POLICE HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THE FRAME HAD RUSTED OUT AND CAR WAS BASICALLY TOTALED. COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IF HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY AND OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE. WENT ONLINE AND SAW THAT HONDA CANADA HAD A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT REASON. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IN THESE 2007-2011 CARBS. WHY CANADA AND NOT USA. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION!!!!!
TL* THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER OWNS A 2007 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING 30 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM DETACH FROM THE CHASSIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THE CHASSIS WAS RUSTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRABLE. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I had issues with the horn blowing itself when I made certain turns and when I took my car to Honda they told me the spacer between the horn and the airbag had disintegrated and they found no evidence of it even being in there they don't know what happened but there's no recall they're only fix unless I paid thousands of dollars to replace the airbag was unhook the horn now I'm having to drive around with a Honda with no horn because they say there's no recall on this
Door actuators have failed on both the passenger front and right rear. They lock almost immediately after unlocking. There is a high risk the passengers may not be able to exit in an emergency and rescue could be delayed. I have owned this car since bought new in September 2006. This problem began in 2020 during the pandemic so I have not gone to a dealer. I recently found information about recall 12V338000 in 2015 but I was never notified of that recall (since expired). I have since moved to a new address and the vehicle remains registered to me at my new address. Online research tells me this is a known problem and owners are charged $300-800 for repairs - often more than once!
1) THE CAR FAILS TO START OCCASIONALLY. I ALREADY HAD REPAIR SHOP CHANGED TO NEW BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR. 2) THE DRIVER'S FRONT DOOR HANDLE (OUTSIDE) STICKS AND DO NOT GO BACK, AFTER IT'S BEEN PULLED. THIS CAUSES THE CAR'S DOORS LOCKS TO LOCK AND UNLOCK DURING DRIVING, STOPS AND GOS.
DOOR LOCKS UNLOCK WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION. FAULTY LOCK ACTUATORS. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME WHILE STOPPING AND ACCELERATING. ALSO, SOME DOOR LOCKS DO NOT LOCK WITH KEY FOB WHEN CAR SHUT OFF AND STATIONARY.
THREE DAYS AGO MY DAUGHTER HAS A CAR ACCIDENT. HER CAR WAS HIT AND THE OTHER DRIVER LEFT THE SCENE. SINCE THEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND THE SEATBELT IS NOT WORKING. I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP AND THERE'S NO RECALL. WE ARE WORRIED BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT AND THE AIRBAG DIDN'T PROTECT HER. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN IT WAS HIT.
VEHICLE FAILED STATE INSPECTION DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION IN THE REAR FRAME AND THE RISK OF THE REAR-TRAILING SEPARATING FROM THE FRAME AND LIKELIHOOD OF AN ENSUING ACCIDENT. THE INSPECTION STATION STRONGLY RECOMMENDED AGAINST REPAIR DUE TO THE STRESS POINT, AND INTEGRITY OF THE SURROUNDING STRUCTURES. I OPENED CASE # 10157114 WITH AMERICAN HONDA, AND THEY HAVE THE DOCUMENTATION OF THE ISSUE ALONG WITH PICTURES TAKEN BY AN AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER. THIS SAME ISSUE WAS IDENTIFIED IN 2019 BY TRANSPORT CANADA RECALL # 2019025. HONDA CANADA'S STATEMENT REGARDING THE RECALL: "EXCESSIVE CORROSION TO THE REAR FRAME MAY RESULT IN FRAME STIFFENER PERFORATION AND, IN EXTREME CASES, CAUSE THE REAR-TRAILING ARM TO SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE'S FRAME STRUCTURE. A SEPARATED REAR-TRAILING ARM MAY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO BE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH." AMERICAN HONDA (USA) REFUSES TO RECOGNIZE THE ISSUE, AND INSISTS THIS IS ONLY A HONDA CANADA ISSUE. THE PROBLEM WITH THAT STANCE IS THAT CANADIAN PRODUCTION OF THE CR-V MODEL DID NOT BEGIN UNTIL THE 2012 MODEL YEAR. CR-VS FOR BOTH THE CANADIAN AND US MARKETS FOR THE 2007-2011 MODEL YEARS WERE PRIMARILY PRODUCED IN EAST LIBERTY, OH, USA AND SAYAMA, SAITAMA, JAPAN. THUS THE MANUFACTURING SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE FRAMES OF THE VEHICLES SUBJECT TO THE CANADIAN RECALL WILL EXACTLY MATCH THOSE SOLD IN THE USA AS THEY CAME OFF THE SAME PRODUCTION LINES. THE VEHICLE SUBJECT OF THIS COMPLAINT WAS ASSEMBLED AT THE JAPAN FACILITY.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, JUST COMING OFF THE HIGHWAY, I NOTICED MY CAR BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER, AND SAW MY BACK DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE AT A VERY STRANGE ANGLE. I CALLED THE TOW TRUCK. WE BOTH LOOKED UNDER THE CAR, AND IT APPEARED TO BE THAT THE ARM CAME DISLODGED FROM THE FRAME ON THAT SIDE DUE TO EXTENSIVE CORROSION. WHEN COMING HOME I GOOGLED THE ISSUE, AND SAW CANADA HAD A SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM, IN HUMID AREAS THAT USE SALT FOR DE-ICING. COASTAL NEW ENGLAND WOULD ALSO FALL UNDER THESE CONDITIONS, AS WOULD MANY OTHER NORTHERN AREAS OF THE UNITED STATES. THIS SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE RECALLED HERE AS WELL. IF IT HAD HAPPENED 5 MINUTES SOONER, I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN TO PARK, THE BUTTON ON THE GEAR SHIFT WILL NOT PUSH IN AGAIN TO ALLOW MOVEMENT OF THE GEAR SHIFT AGAIN. IN ADDITION, THE KEY WILL NOT TURN BACK INTO POSITION TO ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE RADIO AND COMPUTER COMPONENTS REMAIN ON.
TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY AND IT OFTEN SHUDDERS WHEN YOU DRIVE THE CAR WITH LOW RPMS. IF YOU GIVE IT MORE GAS IT STOPS SHUDDERING. NONETHELESS SHIFTING IS REALLY POOR FOR A BRAND WITH A GOOD REPUTATION.
AFTER STARTING THE CAR, I CANNOT SHIFT THE AUTOMATIC GEAR SHIFT SELECTOR OUT OF PARK, OR REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION.
DOOR LOCK CANNOT BE OPENED FOR THE PASSENGER TO BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR IN AN EMERGENCY. THE PASSENGER IN A HOT CAR HAD TO CRAWL OUT THE DRIVER'S DOOR. ALSO, THE REAR DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED TO GET OUT EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT. THIS WAS AN EMERGENCY FOR MY PASSENGER. THE DRIVERS DOOR AND THE TWO BACK SEAT DOOR DID WORK. DOORS THAT YOU CAN NOT UNLOCK FROM THE INSIDE IS AN EMERGENCY!.
MY HONDA CRV 2007 STEERING WHEEL AND IGNITION LOCKED ON ME. WHEN I TRIED TO START MY CAR THE KEY WENT INTO THE IGNITION BUT IT DIDN'T TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL WERE LOCKED. I HAD TO TOW MY CAR TO THE HONDA DEALER. ON MONDAY MORNING, I CONTACTED THE HONDA DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE IGNITION LOCK ASSEMBLY. HONDA KEPT MY VERTICAL FOR 2 DAYS. THEY HAD TO ORDER A PART TO REPLACE THE IGNITION. WHEN I ASKED HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANY OTHER HONDA CRV, MR.DYLAN FRIZZELL SAID 1 OTHER HONDA CRV THAT HE KNEW OF AT THIS TIME. I SHOULD NOT BE OBLIGATED T0 PAY $742.00. MY HONDA CRV 2007 HAD THE AIRBAGS AND DOORS RECALLED CAUSING ME POTENTIAL DEATH. PLEASE GIVE ME A WRITTEN RESPONSE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER.
DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WASHER DOES NOT WORK WITH GOOD CLOSED. ??????
Door actuators are malfunctioning
IT IS MORE OF A CONCERN THAN A COMPLAINT AS OF RIGHT NOW. TRANSPORT CANADA HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR 2007-2011 HONDA CR-VS (HTTPS://WWWAPPS.TC.GC.CA/SAF-SEC-SUR/7/VRDB-BDRV/SEARCH-RECHERCHE/DETAIL.ASPX?LANG=ENG&RN=2019025) THAT OPERATE IN ONTARIO, QUEBEC AND MARITIME CANADA WHERE ROAD SALT IS USED FOR WINTER ROAD DE-ICING. I LIVE IN STATE WHICH BORDERS QUEBEC. WE HAVE A SIMILAR CLIMATE AND RELY HEAVILY ON ROAD SALT FOR WINTER ROAD DE-ICING. THE RECALL ISSUED BY TRANSPORT CANADA (# 2019025) IDENTIFIES THAT ROAD SALT CAN CAUSE THE REAR FRAME TO RUST. AND THIS CORROSION COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN A REAR-TRAILING ARM SEPARATING FROM THE VEHICLE. HONDA HAS PROVIDED A REMEDY. VEHICLES ARE INSPECTED TO ASCERTAIN THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLES THAT PASS THE INSPECTION ARE APPLIED A SEALANT TO PROTECT AGAINST FUTURE CORROSION. VEHICLES THAT FAIL THE INSPECTION ARE EITHER REPAIRED OR BOUGHT BACK BY HONDA. GIVEN THAT USAGE OF ROAD SALT IN NORTHEASTERN STATES THAT BORDER CANADA IS MOST LIKELY COMPARABLE TO THE IDENTIFIED REGION WHERE THE TRANSPORT CANADA RECALL APPLIES, SHOULDN'T VEHICLES OPERATING IN REGIONS OF THE US THAT RELY HEAVILY ON ROAD SALT BE SUBJECT TO THE SAME LEVEL OF SAFETY SCRUTINY?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CR-V. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE CONTACT RELEASED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY ACCELERATED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED DICK HANNAH HONDA (3321 NE AUTO MALL DR, VANCOUVER, WA 98662, (360) 342-9563), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH AND APPROACHING A STOP, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND HAD IT TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC REPAIRED THE STARTER AND STARTER RELAY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. MULTIPLE UNKNOWN DEALERS WERE CONTACTED, BUT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
WATER IS GATHERING IN THE SPARE TIRE CARGO AREA AFTER IT RAINS
2007 CRV PURCHASED NEW. 198,000. CAR HAS BEEN FAILING TO FURN OVER INTERMITTENTLY FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS ON FIRST TRY. ALL LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD LIGHT UP, BUT ONLY A LOW WURRING NOISE. TURN KEY BACK, WAIT A SECOND OR TWO AND IT STARTS RIGHT UP. TODAY, WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 3 - 4 MILES, BOTH THE VSA LIGHT AND THE TRANGLE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STARTED BUCKING AND DRIVING VERY ROUGHLY. CONITUNED UNTIL I COULD SAFELY PULL OVER. TURNED CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON. THE VSA NAD TRIANGLE LIGHTS WENT OFF AND THE CAR RETURNED TO DRIVING NORMALLY FOR THE REMAINDER OF MY COMMUTE (~8 MILES). PARKED CAR FOR 10 HOURS. WHEN STARTING AGAIN, THE EXACT SAME SCENARIO OCCURED EXCEPT THE VSA AND TRIANGLE LIGHTS CAME ON AFTER ABOUT 2/10'S OF A MILE. PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF AND ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON AND DRIVING RETURNED TO NORMAL. UPON ARRIVING HOME, I STARTED TO RESEARCH THESE ISSUES AND STUMBLED UPON SOME POSTS REGARDING POSSIBLE RECALLS AND/OR TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN'S REGARDING FAULTY IGNITION SWITCHES AND A CORRELATION BETWEEN THE STARTING ISSUES, THE DASHLIGHTS AND THE BUCKING AND ROUGH DRIVING I HAD ENCOUNTERED.
PURCHASED THE 2017 CR-V IN OCTOBER 2017. NOTICED GASOLINE ODOR EXISTS IN ENGINE OIL DURING A ROUTINE SELF-CHECKING PRIOR TO THE 1ST OIL CHANGE ON MAY 19, 2018. MENTIONED TO HONDA DEALERSHIP SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE (LIVERMORE HONDA IN CALIFORNIA), BUT THE DEALERSHIP REPRESENTATIVE SAID IT IS NOT AN ISSUE. BASE ON THE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE MINDER, THE OIL LIFE IS AT 40% AS OF FIRST WEEK OF OCTOBER, I NOTICE THE GASOLINE ODOR, AGAIN, PRESENTS IN THE ENGINE OIL AGAIN. ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE IS CURRENTLY IN WORKING CONDITION, IT SEEMS THE GASOLINE ODOR PRESENTS IN ENGINE OIL IS UNUSUAL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CR-V. WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO MOVE AND THERE WAS POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING AND RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,266.
