CPSC: I1360050A. 2013 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER STATED THAT THERE WAS PROBLEMS WITH THE HEADLIGHTS. *LN THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS WERE SWITCHED FROM HIGH TO LOW BEAMS, MOST OF THE GROUND ILLUMINATION WAS LOST, ESPECIALLY ON A DARK ROAD, WHEN LIGHT WAS NEEDED THE MOST.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKING, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND CRASHED INTO A CEMENT PARKING CHOCK AND THEN INTO THE VEHICLE THAT WAS PARKED NEXT TO THE PARKING CHOCK. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING THE RESULTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,999.
CAR SAT FOR 10 DAYS, I RETURNED VACATION, CS KNOCKING TYPE OF NOISE WHEN BRAKING. BROUGHT IT IN TO HONDA DEALERSHIP IN EVERETT, MA ON JUNE 6, 2013, TECH - RUST ON ROTORS, NEEDS TO BE DRIVEN. I STILL HAVE THE KNOCKING SOUND. RUST ON A 2013 HONDA, PARKED FOR 10 DAYS IN MAY???? I INTEND TO DRIVE IT FOR 1 MORE WEEK AND BRING IT IN AGAIN SHOULD THIS KNOCKING TYPE OF NOISE PERSISTS WHEN BRAKING. *TR
THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS VEHICLE DO NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE ILLUMINATION. WE RESIDE IN A RURAL SUBURBAN AREA AND THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT GIVE OFF SUFFICIENT ILLUMINATION TO PROPERLY SEE THE ROAD CONDITIONS. WE ARE REVIEWING/CONSIDERING AFTERMARKET LIGHTING TO CORRECT THIS SITUATION. *TR
The contact owns a 2013 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that months after the vehicle was purchased, the rearview camera displayed a black screen while the vehicle was in reverse(R). The contact stated that the failure obstructed the driver's visibility, which prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnosis or repair. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
ON ALL 2013 CR-VS THE WINDSHIELD SIDE TRIM STRIPS ARE NOT CLOSE TO THE WINDSHIELD, ALLOWING A WATER-DAM EFFECT DURING A RAIN STORM. IN PRIOR YEARS, THE TRIM DETAIL WAS DIFFERENT. ON 2013 MODEL YEARS, THE TRIM STARTS 1/16" AWAY FROM THE WINDSHIELD AT THE TOP, BUT INCREASES TO 1/2" AT THE BOTTOM. ADDITIONALLY, THE DEPTH OF THE CHANNEL UNDER THE TRIM STRIP IS 1/2" OR GREATER. AT SPEED DURING A STORM, WHEN THE WIPER SWEEPS RAIN IN THE LEFTWARD ARC, IT IS NOT EJECTED ENTIRELY FROM THE WINDSCREEN, BUT IS "STORED" UNDER THE TRIM STRIP. WHEN THE WIPER STARTS ITS RIGHT-SWING, THE "STORED" WATER IS PULLED FROM ITS CHANNEL, THEREBY CREATING A SHEET OF WATER ON THE WINDSHIELD WHICH MAKES VISIBILITY NEGLIGIBLE. THIS, OF COURSE, ONLY HAPPENS ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THE SUDDEN AND DRAMATIC LOSS OF VISIBILITY IS A FRIGHTENING SAFETY THREAT. I AM TURNING MY NEW CR-V BACK TO THE DEALER, AND REFUSE TO PAY FOR SUCH AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. *TR
AFTER TAKING OUR NEW HONDA CRV ON ITS FIRST SHORT TRIP - MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING, I BEGAN TO REALIZE THAT ON FREEWAY DRIVING THERE WAS A CONSTANT VISUAL DISTRACTION WITH THE DRIVERS-SIDE DOOR REAR MIRROR. MAINLY DUE TO THE "SPLIT" FROM THE DESIGN OF THE MIRROR. IT CAUSES A VISUAL IMPAIRMENT TO MY PERIPHERAL VISION, GIVING A FALSE SENSE OF PASSING CARS COMING" TOO CLOSE" TO THE VEHICLE AS THEY PASS TO THE RIGHT (FREEWAY DRIVING). THIS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES ABOUT 5 TIMES IN A 120 MILE DRIVE. AT ONE POINT, A CAR COMING UP ALONG MY DRIVER'S SIDE FELT SO CLOSE I SWERVED INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. WHILE AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT I ASKED ABOUT THE DRIVER'S MIRROR, IF THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE MIRROR TO HAVE THE "SPLIT" ON IT., THEY CHECKED INTO IT AND SAID THAT IT WAS. I ASKED IF IT COULD BE SWITCHED OUT FOR A "NON-SPLIT" MIRROR AND WAS TOLD IT COULD NOT. I JUST FEEL THIS MIRROR HAS A POTENTIAL DANGEROUS VISUAL FLAW AND SHOULD BE REPORTED FOR REVIEW. *TR
LOW BEAMS & FOG LIGHTS WORK WELL . BUT THE HIGH BEAMS ARE AWFUL // USING HIGH BEAMS WE HAVE A 30 TO 40 YARD FIELD OF DARKNESS IN FRONT OF US .COULD NOT SEE IF ANYTHING OR ANYONE RAN IN FRONT OF THE CAR . VERY DANGEROUS. DEALER SAYS THE LIGHTS ARE WORKING NORMALLY NOTHING CAN BE DONE. HONDA SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
THERE IS A KNOCKING TYPE OF NOISE WHEN BRAKING, BROUGHT THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP IN ROSWELL, GA COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE NOISE STILL OCCURRING INTERMITTENTLY, NO A GOOD SIGN FOR A NEW CAR. *TR
FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD INCIDENT, PERTAINED OF ALL 4 DOORS LOCKING AND UNLOCKING REPEATEDLY, BY THEMSELVES WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE, GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND ON SURFACE STREETS. THE MOST REENT INCIDENT WAS 12/16/13. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT UNLOCK. I USED BOTH THE AFTER MARKET REMOTE START FOB, THE FOB ON THE ORIGINAL FACTORY KEY AND ALSO THE MANUAL UNLOCK BY PUTTING THE KEY IN THE DOOR. AFTER 2 HOURS OF CONSTANTLY PUSHING BUTTONS AND CHECKING ALL ENTRANCES TO THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE UNLOCKED ON IT'S OWN, WITHOUT PUSHING ANY OF THE BUTTONS. MY 15 MONTH OLD CHILD AND I WERE LITERALLY STRANDED FOR THESE 2 HOURS UNTIL A TOW TRUCK COULD COME TO US. NOT TO MENTION THAT THE CAR UNLOCKED ITSELF ON IT'S OWN RIGHT BEFORE THE TOW COMPANY SHOWED UP. WHAT IF MY CHILD HAD BEEN INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED???? *TR
BRAND NEW 2013 HONDA CRV. WORST HEADLIGHTS EVER ON ANY CAR I HAVE OWNED. NIGHTTIME VISIBILITY IS HORRIBLE. WENT BACK TO DEALER AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEM BUT CLAIMED INABILITY TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. CONTACTED HONDA IN CALIFORNIA SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER. REPLACED THE STOCK BULBS WITH HIGHER INTENSITY ONES AND ACHIEVED MARGINAL IMPROVEMENT. ONLY A QUESTION OF TIME BEFORE PEOPLE START DYING BECAUSE OF THIS HORRIBLE HONDA DESIGN. PLEASE MAKE HONDA RECALL THESE DEFECTIVE CARS AND FIX THEM. DEALER TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE TEST DROVE CAR AFTER DARK SO THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT IT. OTHER DEALER TOLD ME HONDA SELLS 300,000 OF THESE CARS A YEAR SOME OF THEM ARE BOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE. INTERNET IS LOADED WITH CRV OWNERS LIKE ME WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. I LIVE IN A DARK MOUNTAIN RESORT AREA IN VIRGINIA. ALTHOUGH SOMEWHAT BETTER IN BRIGHTLY LIGHTED CITY STREETS, ON DARKER STREETS AND RURAL AREAS, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE AT NIGHT WHEN MAKING A TURN. BOTH THE HIGH AND LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE SUBSTANDARD AND IT IS REALLY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THIS CAR AT NIGHT. THIS IS NOT JUST MY "OPINION", OTHER PEOPLE HAVE TEST DRIVEN MY CAR AT NIGHT AND FOUND IT TO BE UNSAFE. THE HONDA CR-V HEADLIGHT PROBLEM HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED ON THE INTERNET AND MANY FORMAL COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN REGISTERED. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO BRING THESE SAFETY CONCERNS TO THE ATTENTION OF MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER AS WELL AS IN A SURVEY RESPONSE SENT OUT BY HONDA CORPORATE. IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT NO ONE WANTED TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM SO I AM BRINGING IT TO YOUR ATTENTION IN THE HOPES THAT SOMETHING CAN BE DONE TO CORRECT THESE PROBLEMS BEFORE SOMEONE IS BADLY HURT OR KILLED.
AFTER COMING TO A FULL STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT AND TURNING EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT UNDER NORMAL ACCELERATION THE RPMS DROP TO ZERO FOR A SPIT SECOND AND THEN POWER IS RESTORED. THIS HAPPENS ONLY ON TURNS. IT IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM. HONDA DEALER AND HONDA CORP. SAY NO PROBLEM. DOES NOT REGISTER ON THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR. I HAVE AN EMAIL FROM THE SALESMAN THAT SOLD US THE CAR THAT HE HAS TWO WOMEN THAT WORK FOR HIM WITH THE SAME PROBLEM (I CAN FORWARD THE EMAIL AT YOUR REQUEST). THEIR SOLUTION IS TO TURN THE ECON SYSTEM OFF. AS THIS HAPPENS ONLY IN STOP AND GO SITUATIONS TURNING THE ECON SYSTEM OFF DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF THE SYSTEM. I HAVE HAD MORE THAN ONE CLOSE CALL. I DRIVE THIS CAR A LITTLE AS POSSIBLE AT THIS TIME UNDER 5,000 MILES AS I AM A REALTOR IN THIS TIME FRAME THERE WOULD BE DOUBLE THE MILES. THIS STARTED AS WE DROVE HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA CRV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADREST COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED AND WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THEY SHOULD LEAN THE SEAT BACK TO RELIEVE PRESSURE. THE DEALER TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED BASED ON NHTSA SAFETY STANDARDS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CENTER CONSOLE WOULD SIT TOO HIGH AND WAS BECOMING A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT CLIMB OVER THE CONSOLE IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY. THE HEADLIGHTS ON FULL BEAM ARE HOPELESSLY INADEQUATE AND ARE A SERIOUS DANGER TO DRIVERS WHO LIVE IN RURAL AREAS WHERE THERE ARE NO STREET LIGHTS. THE HONDA DEALER TRIED REPLACING BULBS BUT ALL TO NO AVAIL AND HONDA DENIES THERE IS A PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN WRESTLING WITH THIS PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN FEBRUARY, 2013 FROM ZIMBRICK HONDA IN MADISON, WISCONSIN. THE DEALER HAS TRIED TO HELP BUT IS UNABLE TO FIX. *TR
The vehicle stutters when travelling 30-35 miles per hour. It has done this since I bought the vehicle. I have taken it to the Honda dealership to correct and to another mechanic. The Honda dealership say it's a problem Honda has not sent a recall on and they don't know how to fix it. It is also a hot topic on many forums regarding this vehicle.
BLUETOOTH MIC NEVER WORKED. ALL YOU HEAR IS STATIC NOISE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. A CLAIM WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,000.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE THROTTLE WIRE CABLE WAS NON-EXISTENT AND THE ELECTRONIC SYSTEM WAS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE DEALER STATED THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT AT THE TIME, THE ENGINEERS DID NOT HAVE A REMEDY AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT. I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF THE SAFETY LIGHTS CAME ON ,ON THE DASH BOARD, ANTILOCK BRAKES,TRACTION CONTROL,VEHICLE STABILITY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED.THE FIRST TIME THE LEFT FRONT ABS WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WAS REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR HAD LESS THAN 300 MILES ON IT .THE SECOND TIME, WITH LESS THAN 3000 MILES ON IT , ALL OF THE LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN ON THE DASHBOARD AND I HAD DIFFICULTY STOPPING THE CAR. THE BRAKES WERE VERY DIFFICULT TO USE, THEY SEEMED TO GET STUCK AND WERE MAKING AN AWFUL RACKET.CORROSION WAS FOUND IN WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR HARNESS SIDE AND THE ENGINE HARNESS WAS REPLACED. I LOST THE USE OF THE CAR FOR 14 DAYS AS THE FRONT OF THE CAR ,GRILLE, FENDER ,STEERING WHEEL ,DASHBOARD AND OTHER PARTS HAS TO BE DISASSEMBLED AND THE REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT! I HAVE PURCHASED A 2013 HONDA CRV EX AWD IN DECEMBER 2012. I TEST DROVE MY CAR AND PURCHASED IT AROUND 12 NOON SO THAT IS WHY I DID NOT GET A CHANCE TO TEST THE HEAD LIGHTS. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY GIVE YOU A VERY POOR VISIBILITY, ESPECIALLY, IT'S HIGH BEAMS ARE EVEN WORST THAN THE LOW BEAMS. WHEN YOU DRIVE AT NIGHT YOU DON'T FEEL SAFE AND MUST USE YOUR FOG LIGHTS!!!! IT IS SAD BUT TRUE... I HOPE THAT HONDA WILL NOTICE THE PROBLEM AND REPLACE THOSE TERRIBLE HEAD LIGHTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE EXTREMELY DIM AND WERE NOT POINTING TOWARD THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME HOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE 2013 HONDA CRV ARE GROSSLY INADEQUATE. THERE IS VERY LITTLE LIGHT ON THE ROAD WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON HIGH BEAM. THE LIGHT IS VERY NARROW AND THE ROAD EDGE IS POORLY ILLUMINATED TO THE POINT THAT IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN RETURNING HOME AFTER DARK. MY WIFE IS AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AFTER DARK. WE HAVE NEVER OWNED A CAR WITH SUCH POOR HEADLIGHTS. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. AT MY INSISTENCE, A BRIGHTER BULB WAS INSTALLED AND THAT IMPROVED THINGS ONLY SLIGHTLY. THIS IS OUR THIRD CRV AND OUR PREVIOUS MODELS (2004, 2006) DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. IN MY OPINION THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED. *TR
I WAS TIGHTENING THE STRAP ON MY SONS CARSEAT ( PEG PEREGO VIAGGIO 5-70) WHEN A PLASTIC PIECE BROKE OFF THE SEAT AND NOW I CAN NO LONGER USE THE SEAT. THEY DO NOT HAVE A 24/7 HOTLINE AND THE STORE I BOUGHT FROM WENT OUT OF BUSINESS SO I AM NOW WITHOUT A CARSEAT AND WASTED $300 + TAX ON A SEAT I ONLY USED FOR 6 MONTHS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED WITHIN A WEEK OF THE REPAIR AND THE SAME EXACT PART WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE FAILURE AGAIN BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STILL HEARD THE GRINDING NOISE WITH NO REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4000.
