This isn't related to an accident. This issue is about the rear brakes on my 2016 Honda CR-V. I currently have only 22,275 miles approx. on this vehicle but I'm told that I need to replace the rear brakes for frozen calipers once again. The rear brakes and calipers first presented a problem in July 2018 when the rear brake pads and calipers were repaired due to being frozen and also a bent caliper pin. This was at 9879 miles. Now 4 years later I'm told that once again the calipers have frozen (22,275 miles) and they and the rear pads have to be fixed again. Is this a problem inherent to this vehicle alone or have you found other CR-V's with this isssue either just 2016's or all CR-V's?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AND APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE CONTACT STATED THEY FELT A VIBRATION IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIBRATION CEASED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
MY BACK BREAKS (PAD AND ROTORS0 NEED REPLACING AT 35,000 MILES. NOISE STARTED AND MADE APPT. FOR TWO DAYS LATER. AUTO MASTER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CARE SAID I WAS LUCKY I GOT 35K OUT OF THEM, THEY HAVE SEEN THEM GO AROUND 22K. I HAVE NEVER HAD BREAKS GO ON A VEHICLE AT 35K. I HAVE READ MANY OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON THEIR CRVS. REPLACEMENT COST FROM DEALER IS OUTRAGEOUS. AND THE DEALERSHIP COULD HAVE CARED LESS THAT I ONLY GOT 35K OUT OF THE BREAKS. THIS WILL BE LAST VEHICLE PURCHASED FROM THEM AND THE LAST HONDA. MAY EVEN LOOK AT TRADING IT NOW AFTER THE BREAKS ARE DONE BEING FIXED. VERY DISSATISFIED WITH HONDA AND THE DEALERSHIP. THE CONTACT STATED SHE MERGED TO THE LEFT TO AVOID AN IMPACT AND CRASHED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF HER VEHICLE INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF ANY WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CMBS SYSTEM ENGAGED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO IMMEDIATELY STOP WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED SHE SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION AND NECK INJURY. THE CONTACT DID SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER FROM THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BY AMBULANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND WAS TOWED TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE COSMETIC DAMAGES HAD BEEN REPAIRED BY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. *TR CONSUMER STATEDI WAS UNABLE TO STOP MY CAR FOR ABOUT 1/4 MILE AFTER THE ACCIDENT. THE CAR CONTROLLED ITSELF AND I COULD FEEL IT SLOWING DOWN. BUT I COULD HAVE RUN OVER A PEDESTRIAN, DRIVEN INTO A RIVER, OR AN INTERSECTION BECAUSE I COULD NOT STOP THE CAR. *JB
I BOUGHT HONDA CRV 2016 ON AUGUST 2016, BUT IN OCTOBER 2017, I FIGURED OUT THE THERE IS CORROSION ON RIGHT REAR CALIPER, AND I AFRAID THAT CAN CAUSE MALFUNCTION FOR THE BRAKE. SO I WENT TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THAT IS THE POOR QUALITY OF THE HONDA CRV, THE CORROSION IS NORMAL, AND REFUSED TO DO ANY REPAIRED. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PICTURE. I ONLY USE MY HONDA CRV TO GO TO THE CHURCH, SUPERMARKET THAT NEAR MY HOUSE, THE MILEAGE ONLY 1097 MILES WHEN I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO THE DEALER, AND I USUALLY PARK MY CAR IN THE PUBLIC CITY STREET, IN QUEENS, NY.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE MOSTLY OCCURRED DURING COLD WEATHER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 650.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HONDA CR-V. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AT 3 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED COMPLETELY TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE WALL WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR AGAIN. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT GOING ABOUT 2 OR 3 MPH. WHEN I PULLED INTO THE PARKING SPACE TO PARK, I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE PEDAL DIDN'T SEEM TO MOVE. IT FELT SOLID AND THERE WERE NO BRAKES. MY CAR JUMPED THE SMALL CURB AND HIT A VEHICLE IN THE ADJACENT PARKING LOT. MY DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE BODY SHOP AND THE BODY SHOP OWNER SAID THE BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT WAS ON. HONDA AGREED TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE A HONDA CERTIFIED MECHANIC CHECK OUT THE BRAKE SYSTEM. A HONDA REPRESENTATIVE CAME TO THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK OUT THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND SAID THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THEY SAID I SHOULD DRIVE IT AND MONITOR THE BRAKES. WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF THE BRAKES FAILING AGAIN, I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE THAT VEHICLE AGAIN.
ON 8/10/2016, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE SLOWLY ON A STREET WITH A DOWNWARD SLOPE TOWARDS A CROSSROAD. MY DAUGHTER (A KID) WAS SITTING AT THE BACK SEAT. WHEN SHE SAW THE TRAFFIC LIGHT WAS RED, SHE TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY PRESSING THE BRAKE. BUT THE BRAKE DID NOT WORK. SHE FELT THAT SHE WAS PRESSING A ROCK. SHE WAS PLANNING TO GO STRAIGHT ACROSS THE JUNCTURE, BUT IN ORDER TO AVOID RUNNING INTO THE RED LIGHT AND A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT, SHE TURNED THE VEHICLE RIGHT TOWARDS THE STREET ON HER RIGHT SIDE. THEN SHE TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. IT WAS A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE FOR MY WIFE. CLEARLY THE BRAKE FAILED. SO THE NEXT MORNING (8/11) WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL DEALER, AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE BRAKE. AFTER CHECKING, THEY TOLD US THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE INCIDENT, AND COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. THEREFORE I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO. AND REQUESTED THAT THEY SEND SOMEBODY TO CHECK THE VEHICLE. AFTER A LONG DELAY, THEIR DISTRICT SERVICES MANAGER VISITED THE LOCAL DEALER, AND INSTRUCTED THE DEALERSHIP TO BLEED THE BRAKE FLUID. THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. IF THERE IS AIR IN THE BRAKE FLUID, YOU NEED TO BLEED THE BRAKE FLUID. BUT THAT'S NOT THE PROBLEM MY WIFE EXPERIENCED WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN SHE PRESSED THE BRAKE, SHE FELT SHE WAS PRESSING A ROCK. THE BRAKE FAILED AT THAT TIME. SO WE REQUESTED AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO. TO REPLACE THE BRAKE SYSTEM, BUT THEY DECLINED ON THE BASIS THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE INCIDENT. IT HAS BEEN ONE AND A HALF MONTHS SINCE WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER. AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO. DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM, AND THE DEALER NOW ASKED ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE HOME. HOW CAN WE DRIVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN IF THERE IS A POTENTIAL RISK OF THIS INCIDENT HAPPENING AGAIN. THE BRAKE MAY FAIL AGAIN, AND SOMEBODY MAY DIE.
