INTERMITTINGLY ALL MALFUNCTION LIGHTS IN DASH DISPLAY MALFUNCTIONS, BATTERY DRAINS ABNORMALLY, SUNROOF OPENS WITHOUT WARNING, AND WINDOWS OPEN. CHARGED BATTERY AND MALFUNCTION LIGHTS WENT OFF FOR A WEEK; HOWEVER, AFTER DRIVING PERIODICALLY ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. CHECKED AND IT HAD PARTIALLY DRAINED. HAVE TAKEN TO THE HONDA DEALER AND NO CODES DISPLAYED ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH MY CRV, MOST RECENTLY A COMPLETE MALFUNCTION WHERE CAR DID NOT GO OVER 10 MPH AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS ALL FLASHING ON ALERT. HONDA MECHANICS TOLD ME THIS WAS MY FAULT FOR OVERFILLING MY OIL TANK. WANTED TO CHARGE ME $2500 FOR A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER. AFTER MUCH NEGOTIATING THEY LOWERED COST. HOWEVER I HAVE SINCE SEEN THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECOGNIZED AS SUCH. *TR
THE HEATING/ COOLING SYSTEM DOES NOT FUNCTION VERY WELL IN COLD TEMPERATURES. I LIVE IN MICHIGAN AND IT TAKES A LONG TIME FOR THE CABIN TO HEAT UP IN THE WINTER, AND ON SHORT TRIPS IT DOES NOT HEAT UP SUFFICIENTLY, EVEN WHEN I LET THE CAR "WARM UP" IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR A LONG TIME BEFORE I DRIVE AWAY. WHILE THIS MAY SEEM LIKE A MINOR INCONVENIENCE, IT IS ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD AS THE WINDOWS KEEP FOGGING UP, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE. THE REAR WINDOWS ARE HARD TO KEEP DEFROSTED AND VISIBILITY IS VERY LIMITED WHEN MAKING A LANE CHANGE AND HAVING TO CHECK MY BLIND SPOT. I SOMETIMES HAVE TO LOWER MY BACK WINDOWS IN ORDER TO CHECK MY BLIND SPOT, BUT THAT IS ALSO LIMITED BECAUSE THE WINDOWS DO NOT GO DOWN ALL THE WAY. I ALWAYS HAVE TO DO THIS WHEN THEY FOG UP BECAUSE I ALMOST SIDE SWIPED ANOTHER VEHICLE DUE TO LIMITED VISIBILITY DUE BEING UNABLE TO DEFROST THE WINDOWS PROPERLY. FROM ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE READ ONLINE, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, AND ONE WOULD THINK THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AS IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN.
MY ENGINES CRANKCASE IS FILLING UP WITH GASOLINE. I'AM AFRAID OF A FIRE.
THE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK ON ITS OWN WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A COVERED PARKING. THERE WAS NO IMPACT/DAMAGE. THE CRACK SEEMS TO BE CAUSED BY POOL DESIGN/WORKMANSHIP
Our 2018 Honda CR-V SUV EX 2WD is a very good vehicle except we can't rely on it to start. Since buying it new in April, 2018 we have had to have it towed or jump-started six times because the battery has been drained. Many other owners seem to have similar problems; online it has become known as a "parasitic battery drain" problem. There are at least two class-action suits at present we know of concerning the same problem, one In Iowa, and another in Florida. Also on three different occasions we experienced the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems display flashing indicating some features are not working while driving -- for no apparent reason. However, the systems gradually return to normal after the vehicle has been stopped, re-started, and driven again for several miles. We don't know if the two issues are related (see NHTSA Complaint 11361514). Not being able to start in an out of cell-phone area or an unpopulated area is a serious safety concern. Additionally, I carry a portable, battery-powered oxygen concentrator that can't be recharged when the CR-V won't start and the battery is dead. We have records and documentation to support our CRV problems. We are on our third SUV battery - a top-of-the-line from AAA - and have been doing such obvious things as checking our garage nightly to make sure a dome light isn't on, etc. There are no preliminary cues that we have noted such as lights become dimmer, etc. prior to the non-starting times. Four of six times have been during daylight hours. On one occasion we were able to restart the vehicle using a portable lithium battery power pack; on another this booster failed to start the SUV and we had to call AAA. Our "home" Honda service center has sincerely tried but failed to diagnose the problem and neither was the major Honda garage in Albuquerque, NM able to this past summer. Two different complaints with Honda Motors of America remain unanswered as of today. Honda isn't supporting their dealerships.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL "ON". TWO INCIDENTS IN THE PAST YEAR THE CAR'S BRAKING SYTEM ACTIVATED AS IF I WERE GOING TO HIT SOMETHING. I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE AND NO CARS WERE WITHIN 500 TO 1000 FEET AND NO OTHER OBJECTS WERE OBSERVED. THEN TWICE IN THE PAST MONTH THE FLASHING "BRAKE" LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH PANEL INDICATING I SHOULD SLOW DOWN AS I MAY HIT SOMETHING. AGAIN, THIS OCCURRED ON THE NTERSTATE AND NO CARS OR OBJECTS WERE ANYWHERE NEAR ME. THIS LAST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 01/01/2020.
ON OCCASION IN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS WHEN GOING EXTREMELY SLOW SPEED AND TURNING THE WHEEL EVER SO SLIGHTLY IT'S MAKING A VERY LOUD HUMMING TYPE NOISE AND THEN GOES AWAY IT SEEMS TO ONLY HAPPEN AT A VERY SLOW SPEED WITH A SLIGHT TURN
HONDA 2018 CR V TOURING AWD HAS STEERING ISSUES ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASION. SEPT 2019, OCT 2019, DEC 2019 WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN THE POWER STEERING PULLED TO THE LEFT INTO THE WRONG LANE & THE 3RD TIME ALMOST INTO A DITCH IT TOOK TWO OR US TO OVER RIDE THAT. DURING THAT 3RD TIME WE ALSO HAD 4 WARNINGS: ACC, LKAS, CMBS AND RDM. I HAD AMBER AND RED WARNING LIGHTS SHOWING THE BRAKE SYSTEM, LANE DEPARTURE, ACC & FORWARD COLLISION WARNING ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. I PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF FOR 30 MINS. EACH PROBLEM TAKEN INTO THE DEALER WE COULD NOT DUPLICATE, AND YOUR VIN # IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I ALSO NOTIFIED HONDA STILL NO ANSWER.
ON DECEMBER 22, 2019 I WAS HEADED TO CHURCH ON A FOUR-LANE HIGHWAY AND HEARD THE SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE, A LOUD METAL TO METAL SOUND AND THE VEHICLE DIED. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND HAD CAR HAULED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND WHERE I HAD IT MAINTAINED. I HAD THE VEHICLE HAULED OVER TO DEALERSHIP ON A TRAILER TO AVOID DRIVING IT. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP INVESTIGATED, THEY FOUND THAT THE OIL TO THE ENGINE WAS BLOCKED BUT COULDN'T DETERMINE WHAT BLOCKED THE OIL. HEARING METAL TO METAL IT COULD HAVE BEEN SHAVINGS FROM THE METAL RUBBING TOGETHER. IT IS JANUARY 9, 2020 AND I AM STILL WITHOUT A MY CAR. THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE AND HAD IT READY ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 5, 2020. HOWEVER, WHEN I DROVE OFF IN IT, THE ENGINE WAS ROARING. SO, I TOOK IT RIGHT BACK AND LEFT IT ONCE AGAIN. THEY CALLED ME ON MONDAY, JANUARY 6, 2020 AND SAID MY CAR WAS READY ONCE AGAIN. I WENT BACK TO DEALERSHIP IN WHICH I WORK IN 53 MILE AWAY. I TEST DROVE IT AND THE ROARING SOUND WAS STILL THERE. THEY (THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT) THOUGHT IT WAS THE TIRES SO THEY ROTATED THE TIRES AND STILL HEARD THE ROARING SOUND. THEY DECIDED IT WAS THE WHEEL BEARING. WHEEL BEARINGS SHOULD NOT GO OUT IN A 2018 VEHICLE. I FELT THE ROARING WAS STILL IN THE ENGINE. I WILL HOPEFULLY PICK MY CAR UP ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 10, 2020 IN HOPES THE ROARING SOUND IS GONE. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE IS RELATED TO THE ISSUE THE 2017 AND 2018 HONDA CRV OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING WITH THE OIL. NEVERTHELESS, A 2018 HONDA TOURING SHOULD NOT HAVE ALL THESE ISSUES. I AM AN UNHAPPY CUSTOMER AND NOW I FEEL THE VALUE OF MY CAR IS DEPRECIATED.
CONSTANT FUEL ODOR INSIDE THE PASSENGER CABIN. THIS IS NOTICED WHENEVER, THE CLIMATE CONTROL IS SET TO HAVE EXTERIOR AIR CIRCULATION.

The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA CR-V. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMED TO BE PUMPING ON ITS OWN. THE DRIVER HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE PRESSURE WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE WHEN DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
WAS PARKED IN A PARKING GARAGE AND AS SOON AS I STARTED THE ENGINE I RECEIVED 4 WARNINGS: ACC, LKAS, CMBS AND RDM. I HAD AMBER WARNING LIGHTS SHOWING THE BRAKE SYSTEM, LANE DEPARTURE, ACC & FORWARD COLLISION WARNING ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, WAITED A SECOND THEN RESTARTED IT. ALL 4 WARNINGS AND WARNING LIGHTS POPPED UP AUTOMATICALLY. WAS A CLEAR DRY DAY SO I KNEW NOTHING WAS BLOCKING SENSORS SO I STARTED MY HOUR DRIVE HOME THINKING THEY WOULD GO AWAY WHILE DRIVING. THEY NEVER DID. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, WAITED AGAIN A FEW SECONDS THEN RESTARTED IT TO NO AVAIL AS ALL LIGHTS AND WARNING RETURNED INSTANTLY.
I OWN A 2018 CRV PURCHASED NEW IN AUGUST 2018. WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT ON A SLIGHTLY DRIZZLY, APPROXIMATELY 45-ISH DEGREE MORNING THIS WEEK, I HEARD A LOUD BANG/EXPLOSION FOLLOWED BY A SLIGHT CRACKLING NOISE RIGHT OVER MY HEAD. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED MY SUNROOF SHADE SHUT AND WHEN I ARRIVED AT WORK (ABOUT A 1/2 MILE DOWN THE ROAD), I DISCOVERED THAT MY SUNROOF HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED. BECAUSE I PULLED THE SHADE CLOSED, THE GLASS DID NOT FALL IN TO THE VEHICLE SO THERE WAS NO INJURY SUSTAINED. MY ROUTE IS ONE I DO DAILY AND DOES NOT INCLUDE AN OVERPASS OR OVERHANGS. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING HAD BEEN THROWN/FALLEN ON MY ROOF. THERE IS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE BODY/ROOF. I BELIEVE THE SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED. WHEN I SPOKE WITH MY HONDA DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY TRANSFERRED ME TO AN OUTSIDE BODY SHOP TO REPAIR OUT OF POCKET. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE DEALER'S FINANCE OFFICE ABOUT MY WARRANTY, THEY INFORMED ME THAT NO GLASS REPAIR IS COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT I NEEDED TO SUBMIT UNDER MY COMPREHENSIVE CAR INSURANCE. MY INSURANCE DID ULTIMATELY COVER THE DAMAGE ALTHOUGH THEY WERE RELUCTANT AS THEY FELT IT WAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT.
MY WINDOWS AND DOORS ARE OPEN AND UNLOCKED, INCLUDING HATCHBACK. HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4X'S IN LAST TWO WEEKS IN CHICAGO DURING HOLIDAY SEASON! *MP
NOTICED A LINE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD WHEN GETTING OUT OF THE CAR LAST WEEK. GOT OUT TO INVESTIGATE AND SAW A THIN LINE RUNNING THE LENGTH OF BOTH WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THE CRACK WAS IN THE BLACK PART OF THE WINDSHIELD AT THE DEFROST LINE. THE CRACK SEEMED TO SPREAD AFTER COLD NIGHTS. I HAVE INFORMED MY HONDA DEALERSHIP AND AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM.
2018 CR-V ALL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AFTER STARTING CAR IN PREPARATION TO GO TO WORK. AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY CAR WAS NOT GETTING ANY POWER CAR FLUTTERED AND I SMELLED GAS. I TURNED IT OFF THEN RESTARTED IT WAS OK. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY PERFORMED: (93760 TECH VERIFIED CONCERN.PULLED CODES P0300; P0301; P0302; P0303; P0304 AND P0172.FOUND WARRANTY EXTENSION OPEN FOR VEHICLE.19-032. 1245B6A 110 RESET THE MAINTENANCE MINDER.UPDATED THE PGM-FI AND TCU SOFTWARE.REPLACED THE OIL;AC CONTROL UNIT AND THROTTLE POSITION RESET AND PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE.INSPECTED SPARK PLUGS. 1245B6/.8 1245B6A/.3 03217/03214 FPN:37805-5PA-A85 AND SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT THEY SAID THE CAR NEEDED AND THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. FEW DAYS LATER LIGHT CAME BACK ON WENT BACK TO DEALERSHIP THEN WAS TOLD I NEEDED THE 4 FUEL INJECTORS $1300 TO REPLACE THEM. DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE TO FIND THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. WHILE THESE LIGHTS ARE ON THERE IS NO CRUISE CONTROL, LANE ASSIST OR ANYTHING. CALLED HONDA AND THERE WAS NO KNOWN ISSUE. DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED MAYBE HONDA WILL PAY TO FIX ISSUE... WELL, OF COURSE NO SUCH LUCK.

THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT WITH THE AIR BAGS. NEITHER VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE SUSTAINED SOME SCRATCHES TO THE LEFT ARM, BUT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle several unknown warning lights would remain illuminated, including the check engine warning light. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the fuel injectors were faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact also indicated that fuel had mixed into the engine oil causing a heavy fuel odor to be present inside the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who performed a computer re-flash. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.
WHENEVER I START MY CAR IN THE MORNING OR AFTER BEING PARKED FOR HOURS, THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE PAST 10-15MPH EVEN WHEN I STEP HARDER ON THE ACCELERATOR. THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHEN I STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR. I HAVE TO TURN THE ENGINE ON AND OFF A COUPLE OF TIMES AS WELL AS DRIVE AROUND SLOWLY BEFORE THE ACCELERATOR WILL RESPOND.
I EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED SUDDEN ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE ON 11/29/2019 AROUND 1PM. I WAS SLOWING TO A STOP A A STOP SIGN WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED UP TO ABOVE 3000RPM. I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BRAKES WITH MORE FORCE AND STOPPED THE VEHICLE WHILE THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV BETWEEN 3000 AND 5000RPM. WHILE HOLDING THE BRAKES FIRMLY, I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND THEN CONFIRMED THAT MY FOOT WAS ONLY ON THE BRAKE PEDALS AND NOT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. THERE HAPPENS TO BE A POLICE OFFICER BEHIND ME AT THE TIME AND HE CAME UP TO MY VEHICLE TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I EXPLAINED THE ISSUE AND HE SUGGESTED I START THE VEHICLE AGAIN TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. I DID SO AND IMMEDIATELY THE ENGINE REVVED UP AGAIN ABOVE 3000 RPMS. THE POLICE OFFICER CONCURRED THAT THIS WAS NOT NORMAL AND I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AGAIN. BY THIS TIME A SECOND OFFICER ARRIVED ON THE SCENE. AFTER CONSULTING BRIEFLY, THEY WERE ABOUT TO CALL A TOW TRUCK FOR ME WHEN THE SECOND OFFICER SUGGESTED THAT I TRY STARTING THE VEHICLE ONE MORE TIME. WHEN I DID, THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATIONS. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY UPON RETURNING HOME. HOWEVER, AFTER INSPECTION, THE TECHNICIAN WAS NOT ABLE TO IDENTIFY ANY PROBLEMS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS ISSUE BECAUSE I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE PAST UNDER SIMILAR CONDITIONS.
LIGHTS, WINDOWS AND SUNROOF ALL OPENED SPONTANEOUSLY OVERNIGHT WHILE PARKED IN THE DOWNSTAIRS GARAGE OF MY HOME. REMOTE NOT TOUCHED. READ ONLINE OF MANY CASES NOT SO LUCKY THAT OPENED DURING RAIN STORM RESULTING IN A SOAKING WET CAR. APPARENTLY THERE IS NO OPTION TO TURN OFF CONTROL THAT MIGHT TRIGGER THIS. WILL TAKE PHOTO FOR DOCUMENTATION IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN
WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE WITH NO VEHICLES OR OBSTACLES STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME MY CAR AUTOMATICALLY BRAKED HARD. IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE INTERSTATE WHICH RESULTED IN ME GETTING REAR ENDED. I TOOK IT TO HONDA TO TRY TO GET THE INFORMATION FROM THE BLACK BOX BUT THEY REFUSED TO TRY TO PULL ANYTHING.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a misfire. The fuel injectors were replaced, and a software update was performed. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights illuminated on a separate occasion while the vehicle mileage was approximately 92,000. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The fuel injectors were replaced, and an unknown software update was performed. The contact stated that while in the process of personally performing an oil change on the vehicle at 123,000 miles, the contact noticed an abnormal fuel odor. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with gasoline intrusion into the engine oil. The dealer informed the contact that since the oil change was not performed in a timely manner, it caused the gasoline and engine oil to mix. The contact disagreed with the assessment. The dealer performed the oil change. Most recently, the contact noticed a coolant leak at approximately 170,000. The contact was unable to locate the origin of the oil leak. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who confirmed that there was coolant intrusion into the cylinder, causing the head gasket to fail. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
09/2019- TRAVELING THE INTERSTATE IN FAST LANE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC APPROX. 79MPH VEHICLES IN FRONT OF & NUMEROUS VEHICLES BEHIND ME. A VEHICLE IN THE RIGHT LANE SWITCHED LANES IN FRONT OF ME CAUSING MINE TO HIT THE BRAKES, LOCKING UP, SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR OF VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME WAS IN THE MEDIAN THE 2ND VEHICLE WAS INCHES FROM ME. MY PASSENGER (CHILD IN BACK) SAFELY STRAPPED, HAD A WHELP & BURN ON RIGHT SIDE OF NECK/CHEST FROM SEATBELT. SOLUTION DO NOT USE CRUISE CONTROL. 11/2019 ON VACATION THE VEHICLE SHOWED LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ON THE DASH, PULLED OVER TO CHECK THE PRESSURE, ALL TIRES WERE OKAY. TRAVELING ON A 3 LANE BUSY HIGHWAY,IN THE MOUNTAINS THE BRAKE WOULD ENGAGE ALONG WITH THE STEERING, JERK TO THE LEFT, "LANE DEPARTURE" ON THE DASH. IT TOOK ALL OF MY STRENGTH TO PULL AGAINST THE VEHICLE KEEPING IT ON THE ROAD. NO GUARD RAIL ON THE ROAD. PULLING AGAINST THE STEERING PREVENTED MY CRV FROM GOING OVER THE MOUNTAIN. I COULD NOT HAVE THE ECON ON, IF ON, THE HIGHEST SPEED I COULD REACH IN THE CRV WAS 35MPH. WITH THE ECON OFF 45 MPH WAS THE HIGHEST SPEED THE TRAVEL SPEED OF THE OTHER VEHICLES WAS BETWEEN 65-70MPH. THIS CONTINUED THROUGHOUT THE TRIP. I TOOK THE CRV TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP ONCE I WAS HOME IT WAS KEPT FOR A WEEK. THEY FEEL LIKE A SOFTWARE UPDATE SOLVED THE ISSUE. I LATER CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO LET THEM BE AWARE THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. SAID THEY MADE HONDA AWARE, BUT DID NOT. I HAD A CASE WITH HONDA, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. MY EMAILS NOT REPLIED AND THE MESSAGES LEFT ON THE VOICEMAILS, NOT RETURNED. I HAVE CONTACTED NUMEROUS TIMES, SPOKEN WITH SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES AND ASSURED MY CALL WOULD BE RETURNED, NOTHING. DEALERSHIP STATED THEY NO LONGER WILL BE ABLE TO HELP WITH ANY ISSUES. THIS IS FRUSTRATING. MY LIFE AS WELL AS MY CHILDREN ARE IMPORTANT ALTHOUGH HONDA ISN'T THINKING THE SAME. MAJOR DEFECTS IN THE 2018 CR-V
WHILE IN MOTION THE CR-V CONTINUES TO BRIGHT LIGHT ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AS WELL AS THE STEERING WHEEL PULL TOWARDS ONCOMING TRAFFIC ABRUPTLY WHILE THE VOLUME OF THE STEREO GOES CONSTANTLY FROM LOUD TO MUTE, AND THE DOOR LOCK/ UNLOCKS BEING CONTINUAL. VEHICLE HAS STALLED OUT ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THERE IS ODOR OF GASOLINE WHILE INSIDE THE VEHICLE, USAGE OF FUEL DRASTICALLY INCREASED, NOTICED OUR THROATS HURTING/ VOICE HOARSENESS/ COUGHING/ PASSENGER PASS OUT UNTIL WINDOWS ARE CRACKED OPEN (CARBON MONOXIDE?). CONSTANT SPUTTERING, NO HORSEPOWER, CAN'T STAY WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE, BRAKES DO NOT WANT TO WORK ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, VEHICLE ABRUPTLY SLAMS ON THE BRAKES AT TIMES SAYING ROAD DEPARTURE (CLEARLY WE ARE NOT DEPARTING THE ROADWAY). DOORS TO THE BACK HAVE NOT ALLOWED THE PASSENGERS IN THE BACK TO OPEN THEM, CAUSING THE CHILDREN TO PANIC IN FEAR OF BEING TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE. THE REMOTE START HAS ONLY WORKED (2) TIMES IN A YEARS TIME. THERE HAS BEEN A BUZZING/ HUMMING MOTOR SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR AXLE AREA AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STATIONARY FOR OVER (5) HOURS. GASOLINE HAS NOW BEEN NOTICED IN THE OIL. THE DASH PERIODICALLY GOES COMPLETELY BLACK UNABLE TO SEE ANYTHING. THE AUTOMATIC LIGHTS (DIMMING/ BRIGHT LIGHTS) DOES NOT WORK, AND HAS ONLY WORKED (1) TIME. A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS IT HAS SMOKED, LIKE LARGE CLOUDS OF SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST ANYTIME THE ACCELERATOR WAS PUSHED. FEARFUL OF TRAVELING IN THE CR-V, WE DO NOT USE AFTER DARK, THE AMOUNT SPENT ON FUEL HAS MORE THAN DOUBLED AND WE DO DRASTICALLY LESS DRIVING IN THE CR-V SINCE THE INCREASING FUEL USAGE. AT TIMES IT FEELS AS IF THE VEHICLE IS CONTROLLED BY SOMEONE ELSE, IT'S DIFFICULT CORRECTING THE STEERING WHEN IT IS PULLING TOWARDS ONCOMING TRAFFIC.

THE ENTIRE FAILURE LASTED APPROXIMATELY TEN SECONDS AND THEN RESUMED NORMAL SPEED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESUME HER TRIP. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THE FAILURE OCCURED. VENICE HONDA (985 US-41 BYP, VENICE, FL 34285, (941) 486-8888) SCHEDULED AN APPOINMENT TO PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC TESTING UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,300.
I HAD JUST TURNED ON HIGHWAY AND WAS ACCELERATING TO SPEED - AT ABOUT 45 MPH THE AUTO BRAKING ENGAGED FAIRLY SHARPLY AND SOMETHING FLASHED ON DASH AND BEEPED (TOO FAST FOR ME TO READ) AND THEN IT STOPPED. ACC & LKAS WERE ON BUT NOT ENGAGED AT THE TIME. SUNNY DAY AND NO VEHICLES AROUND ANYWHERE
WHILE DRIVING LEISURELY ON A WINDING ROAD CALLED SULLIVAN TRAIL, SCOTRUN PA WE RECEIVED AN ALERT ON THE VEHICLE DASHBOARD: "BRAKE SYSTEM ROAD DEPARTURE MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM" (RDMS). THE RDMS BUTTON WAS NOT ON AT THE TIME. WE WERE ABOUT 2 MINUTES FROM HOME SO THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME AND PARKED. AT HOME, WE PRESSED THE RDMS BUTTON AND IT DID NOT LIGHT TO ENGAGE. THROUGH GOOGLE SEARCH, WE FOUND OUT OTHER HONDA OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS AT THE APPROXIMATE 5000 MILE MARK. OUR VEHICLE WAS PURCHASE BRAND NEW AT RAY PRICE HONDA IN STROUDSBURG PA IN NOVEMBER 2018. IT HAS HAD ONE OIL SERVICE CHANGE AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP AT THE 5000 MILE MARK. CURRENTLY, IT HAS 5570 MILES. WE UNDERSTAND FROM AN ARTICLE ONLINE THAT HONDA DOES NOT GIVE WARRANT ON THIS ISSUE WHICH COULD COST 3000 TO REPAIR. THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN MAINLY FOR SHORT AND CAREFUL DRIVES AROUND STROUDSBURG -- FOOD SHOPPING AND THE LIKE FOR OUR HOME. WITH SUCH LIMITED DRIVES, IT SHOULD SURELY BE MORE RELIABLE.
OUR SUNROOF GLASS EXPLODED OUTWARDS WHILE DRIVING ON A CLEAR EXPRESSWAY. WE HAD BEEN TRAVELING FOR ABOUT 4 HRS, AND THE SUNROOF GLASS BUBBLED OUTWARDS AND EXPLODED IN MANY MANY SMALL FRAGMENTS. THERE WAS NO IMPACT WITH AN OUTSIDE OBJECT AND THE GLASS WAS CLEARLY BLOWN OUTWARD. WE SUSPECT THE HEAT BUILDUP BETWEEN THE GLASS AND THE MOON PRESSURIZED THE AIR AND THE GLASS FAILED, EXPLODING.

OCCASIONALLY, THERE IS A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL IN THE CABIN WHEN DRIVING. ALSO, WHEN ENGINE OIL IS CHANGED, IT EMITS A STRONG GAS SMELL. I TOOK IT TO CRISWELL HONDA IN GERMANTOWN, MD, AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS NORMAL.
WHILE DRIVING NORTH ON ROUTE 43 APPROACHING ROUTE 60 IN LAKE FORREST, ILLINOIS ON NOVEMBER 5, 2019 MY HONDA CR-V SUDDENLY STOPPED. AND, I MEAN COMPLETELY STOPPED.FOR NO APPARENT REASON. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO VEHICLES BEHIND ME. I WAS ONLY TRAVELING AT 35 MPH. I BELIEVE THIS OCCURRENCE WOULD BE CLASSIFIED AS A FALSE POSITIVE ERROR. IT WAS RAINING LIGHTLY AT THE TIME. MY ONLY WITNESS IS MY WIFE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR PRIMARILY TO DRIVE MY GRANDCHILDREN TO SCHOOL AND NOW HAVE LOST CONFIDENCE IN IT'S ABILITY FOR SAFETY. THIS PROBLEM HASN'T OCCURRED AGAIN SINCE NOVEMBER 2019 BUT I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN TRUST OUR LIVES TO A COMPUTER IN CHARGE OF THIS CAR. I PURCHASED MY 2018 CRV EXL IN LATE NOVEMBER 2018. SINCE THEN THE WINDSHIELD HAS BEEN CHIPPED TWICE (REPAIRED BOTH TIMES) AND CRACKED TWO OTHER TIMES - REQUIRING WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT AT $1,200 (OEM) EACH TIME. I'VE DRIVEN THE SAME NORMAL PAVED ROADS/HIGHWAYS THAT I'VE DRIVEN FOR THE LAST 25 YEARS - HAVING ONLY EXPERIENCED TWO WINDSHIELD CRACKS ACROSS ALL MY PREVIOUS VEHICLES DURING ALL THOSE YEARS. MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE COMBINED WITH ACCOUNTS FROM OTHER GEN5 HONDA CRV OWNERS AND OBSERVATIONS BY THE WINDSHIELD REPAIR SHOP INDICATE THAT GEN5 HONDA CRVS HAVE INSUFFICIENTLY STRONG/DURABLE OEM WINDSHIELDS. AS A RESULT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY SHOULD MY FAMILY BE IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IN ADDITION, MY INSURANCE AGENT HAS INFORMED ME THAT ANOTHER WINDSHIELD REPAIR/REPLACEMENT CLAIM IS LIKELY TO INCREASE EITHER MY INSURANCE PREMIUM OR DEDUCTIBLE - ACCORDINGLY I PAID OUT-OF-POCKET FOR THE LAST CHIP REPAIR. I BELIEVE HONDA NEEDS TO DESIGN A STRONGER REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD AND/OR EXTEND THE WARRANTIES TO COVER WINDSHIELD DAMAGE.

WHILE DRIVING ON SLICK ROADS I WAS USING BLUEOOTH TO HAVE A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION. A CAR SWERVED IN FRONT OF ME CAUSING ME TO SWERVE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. THE BLUETOOTH DISENGAGED AND I HEARD THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY CLICK TO LOCK (THEY WERE ALREADY LOCKED). I ASSUME THESE ARE BUILT IN SAFETY FEATURES. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP, THE ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCK OVERRODE THE MANUAL LOCK FOR THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND WOULD NOT UNLOCK; I COULD NOT EXIT THROUGH THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I TRIED MANY TIMES TO USE THE FOB OR TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR TO NO AVAIL.I HAD TO EXIT USING THE PASSENGER DOOR. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK REFUSED TO WORK UNTIL I USED THE PHYSICAL KEY TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. USING THE PHYSICAL KEY APPEARED TO RE-SET THE ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCK SYSTEM AND IT THEN WORKED NORMALLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2018 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE SUSTAINED FRONT END DAMAGE AND THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FAILED TO COMPLETELY OPEN AFTER THE CRASH. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS MORE DAMAGED THAN THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED A FRACTURED CHEST BONE, A HEMATOMA IN THE CHEST, AND WAS IN ICU FOR TWO DAYS. THE PASSENGER WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL AND THEN TRANSPORTED TO ANOTHER HOSPITAL THAT COULD TREAT MAJOR CHEST INJURIES. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED CHEST BRUISES AND WAS ALSO TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT 1 OR MORE AIR BAGS OF THE PASSENGER FRONT FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING THE IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.

THE GEAR SHIFT BUTTON ON MY 2018 CRV BROKE OFF AS I WAS SHIFTING FROM DRIVE TO PARK. I WAS PARKED AT THE TIME, HOWEVER, ONCE IT FALLS OUT THE ONLY WAY TO SHIFT GEARS AGAIN IS TO SHOVE IT BACK IN PLACE. FINALLY THIS LAST TIME THE TECHNICIAN ADJUSTED SOME CAMERAS TO SEE IF THAT COULD FIX THE PROBLEM, IT DID NOT. MY CAR IS STILL IN YOUR SHOP AT PENSKE ONTARIO AND THE TECHNICIAN WHO CALLED ME YESTERDAY SAID THIS IS A NORMAL FEATURE OF THIS CAR, AND THE HONDA HOTLINE DOES NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM REPORTED. HE INFORMED ME THAT THE CAR IS PICKING UP SOMETHING THAT IS CAUSING IT TO FAIL. MY COMMUTE IS AT 4AM ON A NON BUSY FREEWAY, I HAVE NOT NOTICED CONSTRUCTION NOR MAJOR ROAD DAMAGE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IF THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE THE PROBLEM, I DRIVE THIS COMMUTE A LOT AND THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN THEN. THIS SOUNDS LIKE THEIR IS NO SOLUTION TO MY PROBLEM AND I AM GIVEN A GENERIC ANSWER. WINDSHIELD CRACK FROM DRIVERS SIDE EDGE TOWARD THE MIDDLE. CRACK IS NOW OVER 18 INCHES. NO APPARENT ROCK CHIP AT ORIGIN OF CRACK. NOW A SECOND CRACK HAS FORMED. CRACK WAS DISCOVERED IN MORNING AFTER PARKING CAR IN GARAGE OVER NIGHT.
I HAD THE OIL CHANGED TODAY AND THE MECHANIC SAID I HAD GAS MIXED IN WITH THE OIL. HE SAID THIS COULD CAUSE ENGINE PROBLEMS AND STALLING. I AM AN 80 YEAR OLD LADY, AND I DON'T WANT TO GET STRANDED.
STARTED VEHICLE WHILE PARKED IN PARKING LOT TO DRIVE HOME, AND ALL VEHICLE ASSIST AND OTHER WARNING SYSTEMS WENT OFF, ALSO RECEIVED WARNING ALL SYSTEMS UNABLE TO INITIALIZE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. DEALER REPLACED STEERING ANGLE SENSOR.
I BOUGHT A 2018 HONDA CR-V IN MAY 2018, IT WAS NEW, WITH 717 DEALER MILES ON IT. IT CAME WITH BRIDGESTONE ECOPIA HL 422 PLUS TIRES IN SIZE 235 65R17 AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT. AT 9,292 MILES ON SEPTEMBER 11TH I HAD AN OIL CHANGE AND SERVICE WHICH INCLUDED CHECKING TIRE PRESSURES. ON SEPTEMBER 28TH I WENT ON VACATION AND CAME BACK OCTOBER 5TH. ON A PERFECTLY CLEAR DAY, NO HAZARDS IN THE ROAD, ON INTERSTATE 26 NORTH OF FLORENCE, SC, I HEARD A LOUD BANG, AND AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE CAR NEXT TO ME BACKFIRING. BUT THEN I HEARD THE DREADED FLAPPING SOUND OF A FLAT TIRE ON MY VEHICLE. I PULLED OFF THE EXTREMELY BUSY INTERSTATE AND PROCEEDED TO CHANGE THE TIRE WHICH WAS ON THE LEFT REAR. I THEN SEARCHED ON MY PHONE FOR THE CLOSEST HONDA DEALERSHIP TO TRY TO GET A NEW TIRE BECAUSE I STILL HAD ABOUT 140 MILES TO GET HOME, AND DID NOT WANT TO RISK IT ON THE 'DOUGHNUT' SPARE TIRE. I FOUND ONE IN SUMTER, SC, ABOUT 25 MILES OFF THE INTERSTATE AND WENT THERE. THEY PUT ON A NEW TIRE WHICH COST ME $167.52. I TOLD THE MANAGER THAT I BELIEVED IT WAS A DEFECTIVE TIRE. HE SAID 'LET'S LOOK ON THE INSIDE TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY METAL OR OTHER DEBRIS'. THERE WAS NONE. JUST AN INNER SIDEWALL BLOWOUT. AND NO DAMAGE TO THE TREAD. HE BAGGED THE TIRE UP FOR ME. AND I CONTINUED HOME. MONDAY OCTOBER 7TH I WENT TO MY HONDA DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED TO THE PARTS MANAGER WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND HE TOOK THE TIRE. HE AGREED THAT IT LOOKED SUSPICIOUS. HE GOT NO POSITIVE RESPONSE AT ALL FROM BRIDGESTONE, AND I CALLED BRIDGESTONE MYSELF. I GOT STONEWALLED AND GOT NO SATISFACTION. BUT HE KEPT DIGGING AND FINALLY GOT SOMEONE TO OFFER WHAT THEY SAID WAS HALF OF THE VALUE - $45 - BUT HE TOLD THEM NO, LET'S SEND THE TIRE IN AND MAKE A DETERMINATION AFTER YOU RECEIVE AND INSPECT IT. I GOT A CHECK TODAY $63.01 FOR MY DEFECTIVE TIRE. THE TIRE SELLS ONLINE FOR $159. THEY KNOW THESE TIRES ARE DANGEROUS. *JS
