I BOUGHT A NEW HONDA FIT IN AUG 2010. LAST WINTER I HAD SEVERAL FRIGHTENING SITUATIONS WITH BRAKES WHEN THERE WAS SNOW ON THE GROUND. APPROACHING OTHER VEHICLES AT A STOP, THE BRAKES WOULD LOCK/NOT GRIP EVEN AT LESS THAN 5 MPH. I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES, MAYBE I NEEDED NEW TIRES (ON A BRAND NEW CAR!) I SPENT THE WINTER DRIVING IN TERROR OF SOMEONE PULLING OUT IN FRONT OF ME. I JUST TOOK THE CAR IN TODAY FOR A 1 YEAR INSPECTION - AT 11,000 MILES THE BRAKES NEED REPLACEMENT (DEALER SAID I SHOULD DO IT AT MY NEXT OIL CHANGE FOR $290 AND "MAYBE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT DISENGAGING WHEN I START OFF IN THE MORNING" - I DRIVE A STANDARD) I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 40 YEARS AND DRIVING A STANDARD FOR 21 YEARS. THE PROBLEM IS THE BRAKES, NOT MY DRIVING. *TR
2011 HONDA FIT (4 DOOR MODEL) STRUCK SLOPED END OF POORLY LIGHTED LOW CONRETE ROAD CONSTRUCTION BARRIER. VEHICLE ROLLED OVER THREE TIMES, LANDING UPRIGHT. NONE OF VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS INFLATED. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SURGED BACKWARDS BEFORE CRASHING. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY DURING THE FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. NEITHER THE DELAER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 2,913.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE CLOSING THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED. THE CONTACT STATED SUSTAINED CUTS TO HER FINGERS AND BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
LONG STRESS FRACTURE IN THE WINDSHIELD, STARTING FROM EDGE ON PASSENGER'S SIDE AND EXTENDING FOR ABOUT 2 FEET TOWARDS THE CENTER. FRACTURE APPEARED FOR NO APPARENT REASON, AND THERE WAS NO CHIP, HENCE WAS NOT CAUSED BY A STONE. THE WINDSHIELD DID NOT SHATTER, THOUGH IN RESEARCHING ONLINE, FOUND THAT MANY OTHER HONDA FIT OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM, WITH THE FRACTURE APPEARING WITH NO OBVIOUS CAUSE, AND IN SOME CASES ON CARS THAT HAD ONLY RECENTLY BEEN PURCHASED. THE DEALER REPLACED FOR FREE UNDER WARRANTY, THOUGH OTHERS ONLINE REPORTED THAT DEALERS TRIED TO ARGUE THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY A STONE. THIS IS MY DAUGHTER'S CAR, AND I'M CONCERNED IT MAY HAPPEN AGAIN, AND THAT THERE IS A RISK THAT THE SCREEN COULD SHATTER OR SEPARATE AT THE CRACK WHILE SHE IS DRIVING, HENCE CAUSING A MAJOR DRIVING HAZARD AND POSSIBLE CRASH.
I HAVE A 2010 HONDA FIT SPORT AUTOMATIC, PURCHASED NEW. WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 5 MPH (I.E., GOING DOWN A SPIRAL RAMP, PARKING MY CAR INSIDE THE GARAGE IN MY HOME AND BEING IN EXTREMELY SLOW STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC) MY RIGHT FOOT IS ON AND OFF THE BRAKE. I DO NOT USE MY LEFT FOOT AT ALL IN DRIVING. FOUR TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR (FROM JULY 2010 TO JUNE 2011) DURING SUCH SITUATIONS THE ENGINE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND THE NEEDLE ON THE RPM DIAL WENT TO 4,000-5,000. I HAD TO STEP HARD WITH MY RIGHT FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO KEEP THE CAR FROM LURCHING FORWARD. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED ON JUNE 5, 2011 IN THE MIDDLE OF EXTREMELY SLOW STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC. I HAD TO PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE AND QUICKLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS TIME MY WIFE WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME AND WITNESSED THIS MOST SCARY AND DANGEROUS INCIDENT. I EXPLAINED ALL OF THIS TO THE MECHANICS AT MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER WHEN I BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE ON 6/21/11. HOWEVER, THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO RECREATE A SUDDEN ACCELERATION SITUATION AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. MY ONLINE SEARCHES INDICATE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF SIMILAR SITUATIONS WITH PRIOR-YEAR MODELS OF THE HONDA SPORT. I AM CERTAIN THERE IS AN UNDISCOVERED PROBLEM WITH MY CAR, AND POSSIBLY OTHERS, WHICH REQUIRES INVESTIGATION BY THE NHTSA. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN A VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE CONTACT AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER THREE TIMES AND WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL AND SUSTAINED NECK, HEAD, FACE AND CHEST INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000. UPDATED 06/30/11 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE. IT WOULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE IF THERE WERE GAS. THE ROOF JOINTS WERE COMING OFF THE CAR. THE ROOF WAS LIFTED TO SEE THE SKY AND THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS SHATTERED AND POINTED TOWARD THE DRIVER. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WAS COMPLETELY OUT AND THE REAR WAS SMASHED TOWARD THE FRONT SEATS. I WAS SIDESWIPED ON A WET ROAD AND WENT INTO A SPIN. THE BRAKES PARTIALLY ENGAGED, THROUGH THE ABS SYSTEM DID NOT (NO "CHATTER"). AFTER I REGAINED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER, THE BRAKES REMAINED PARTIALLY ENGAGED (THE CAR WAS GRADUALLY DECELERATING) - THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE AND I COULD NEITHER DISENGAGE THE BRAKES, NOR INCREASE THE APPLICATION TO MAKE THE CAR COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER EXPERIMENTING WITH PRESSING HARD ON THE PEDAL AND THEN PUMPING IT A FEW TIMES WHILE TRAVELING OVER A QUARTER MILE, I ULTIMATELY HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I TOOK THE CAR TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP. THE COMPUTER SHOWED NO CODES AND THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *TR
AS I WAS MAKING MY RIGHT TURN NEAR MY HOME, I UNEXPECTEDLY SAW MY NEIGHBOR'S CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN FRONT OF HIS DRIVE WAY. I QUICKLY STEPPED ON MY BRAKES TO STOP, BUT, MY CAR DIDN'T STOP IMMEDIATELY AND SEEMED TO SURGE RATHER THAN SLOW DOWN (POTENTIAL PROBLEM WITH THE FIT ABS). I THEN TURNED MY STEERING WHEEL TO THE SIDE WALK TO AVOID HITTING MY NEIGHBOR'S CAR WHILE STEPPING ON THE BRAKES BUT THE CAR STILL DID NOT STOP. THE CAR WENT THROUGH THE SIDE WALK AND A NEXT NEIGHBOR'S BUSH AND FRONT LAWN (ABOUT 20 METERS). EVENTUALLY, I STOMPED ON THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I COULD AND STOPPED JUST SHORT OF THE DRIVE WAY ON THE TOP OF A SMALL BUSH I REPORTED TO HONDA AMERICA WHICH SENT AN INSPECTOR TO CHECK MY CAR. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, BUT, THE INSPECTOR AND THE HONDA AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER THOUGHT MY GOODYEAR RUBBER FLOOR MAT MIGHT BE THE CAUSE. I TOLD THEM DURING THE 20 METERS DISTANCE, I HAD ENOUGH TIME TO NOTICE THAT I WAS STEPPING ON THE BRAKES MUCH HARDER THAN NORMALLY I WOULD FOR THE CAR TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER I STOPPED THE CAR, THE FIRST THING I CHECKED WAS THE CAR FLOOR NEAR THE BRAKE PEDAL. IF THE MAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM, I WOULD HAVE NOTICED AT THAT TIME. ANOTHER HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT IMPLIED THAT I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL INSTEAD OF THE BRAKE. I TOLD HIM THAT I COULD NOT HAVE STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR SINCE I DID NOT CHANGE THE PEDAL I WAS STEPPING ON DURING THE TIME IT TOOK TO STOP THE CAR. THE END RESULT, I HAD TO PAID FOR THE CAR DAMAGE. *TR
THE CARPETING IS FALLING APART AFTER JUST OVER 5,000 MILES NEAR THE DRIVER'S FEET. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT I GOOGLED "HONDA FIT CARPETING" AND FOUND A SITE WHERE SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE FOUND THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE A FOOT COULD GET CAUGHT UP IN THIS CARPETING SHREDS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V101000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNGE FORWARD AFTER CHANGING GEARS. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO STALL AFTER STARTING IN THE MORNINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. I WAS SITTING IN THE PARKED CAR LISTENING TO THE RADIO BEFORE WORK WHEN I SAW A FOOT LONG CRACK FORM HALF WAY UP THE RIGHT EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD HORIZONTALLY TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS PRACTICALLY NO PEOPLE OR CARS AROUND AND IT WAS A CLEAN STRAIGHT LINE CRACK. I FOUND AN ONLINE FORUM ON EDMUNDS.COM WHERE THERE WERE MANY PEOPLE HAVING STRESS CRACK ISSUES WITH THEIR FIT WINDSHIELDS. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND A CHIP IN THE CRACK ABOUT THE SIZE OF A PINHEAD, 2 INCHES IN FROM THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THEY CLAIMED A STONE HIT THE WINDSHIELD TO CAUSE THE CHIP AND SUGGESTED CONTRACTION EXPANSION OF THE GLASS CAUSED THE CRACK. THEY REFUSED TO COVER THE DAMAGES UNDER WARRANTY. A PHONE CALL TO HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE CLAIMED NO REPORTS OF ISSUES WITH FIT WINDSHIELDS AND ALSO REFUSED WARRANTY COVERAGE EVEN AFTER MENTIONING THE ONLINE FORUM. *TR
SEAT BELT ON PASSENGER FRONT SEAT IN MY 2010 HONDA FIT SPORT RATCHETS AND WILL NOT RELEASE DESPITE MULTIPLE TRIPS TO THE DEALER NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. ALL THE DEALER DID WAS SAY MAYBE PASSENGER IS TOO FAT FOR THE CAR. WE ALSO OWN A 2007 HONDA FIT SPORT AND HAVE NOT HAD THAT ISSUE WITH THAT CAR. THE ISSUE APPEARS TO BE CAUSED BY A SHORTER SEATBELT BEING USED IN THE 2010 AS OPPOSED TO THE 2007. *TR
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, THERE WAS A LOUD POP AND A CRESCENT-SHAPED CRACK APPEARED ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK STARTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD NEAR THE DRIVER'S HEAT VENT, RUNS UP APPROX 6 INCHES AND GOES OVER ABOUT 18 INCHES TO THE OTHER HEAT VENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 20 DEGREES, HEATER WAS ON. A QUICK SEARCH OF WEB LOGS INDICATES NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS (SEE EDMONDS.COM). *TR
CAR WAS DRIVEN OFF THE LOT WITH 7 MILES ON ODOMETER IN APRIL 2010. PASSES ALL NH STATE INSPECTIONS. HAD NO INDICATION THERE WAS ANY ISSUE WITH CAR UNTIL I WENT TO REREGISTER IN JANUARY OF 2011. CAR WOULD NOT PASS NH STATE INSPECTION BECAUSE THE EMISSIONS MONITORING COMPUTER WAS IN A DEFAULT STATE. HAD DEALERSHIP LOOK AT IT AND THEY WERE ABLE TO GET THE NH STATE INSPECTION TO PASS AFTER REPLACING A RELAY. IN JANUARY 2012, HAD SAME ISSUE. THIS TIME THEY REPLACED A MAIN ELECTRICAL JUNCTION BOX. AGAIN IN 2013, FAILED NH STATE INSPECTION. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE, BUT WAS ABLE TO GET CAR TO PASS. AGAIN IN JANUARY 2014, THEN JANUARY 2015. DEALERSHIP TALKED WITH HONDA ENGINEERS, BUT NO RESOLUTION WAS AVAILABLE. I WAS INFORMED IT WAS DUE TO THE WINTER AND THE SLOW TURNOVER OF THE CAR WAS DROPPING THE ELECTRICAL POWER BELOW 10V, AND RESETTING COMPUTER. NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS RESULT. *TR
THE CAR'S STEERING IS EXTREMELY OVER-RESPONSIVE, BUT IS UNFORTUNATELY NOT SPEED SENSITIVE. AS A RESULT, IF ONE TAKES THEIR EYES OFF THE ROAD FOR EVEN A SECOND, THE CAR OFTEN MOVES OUT OF ITS LANE. BOTH MY WIFE AND I HAVE HAD SEVERAL SCARY EXPERIENCES, WHERE WE LOOKED OVER OUR SHOULDER MOMENTARILY IN PREPARATION FOR A LANE CHANGE, CHECKED TRAFFIC ON BUSY CROSS STREETS, OR CHANGED A HEATING OR COOLING SETTING, AND FOUND OURSELVES CROSSING OVER THE CENTERLINE OR NEARING THE DITCH. THE CAR DOES NOT TRACK STRAIGHT, AND ALSO TENDS TO VEER LEFT OR RIGHT AFTER GOING OVER BUMPS. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT ONE OF US COULD GET KILLED IN EITHER A HEAD-ON COLLISION OR BY RUNNING INTO THE DITCH. THE CAR IS A BASE FIT MODEL, WITH A 5-SPEED MANUAL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA FIT. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED A HEADACHE DUE TO THE HEAD REST WHICH WAS NOT ADJUSTABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE EXPERIENCED THE HEADACHE WHEN HE DROVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE HEAD REST AND WHEN THE HEAD REST WAS REMOVED, HE DID NOT EXPERIENCE HEADACHES. WITH HEADLIGHTS ON AND HEATER BLOWER RUNNING THE HEADLIGHTS DIM SIGNIFICANTLY AND THE BLOWER MOTOR REDUCES ITS VELOCITY, AS IF AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE IS ABOUT TO OCCUR. DEALER SAID NOTHING IS WRONG.
I HAVE CALLED HONDA NUMEROUS TIMES BUT THEY HAVE NOT REPLACED AIR BAG YET.
MALFUNCTION 1: WHILE BEING DRIVEN WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, CAR WITHOUT ANY DASHBOARD SIGNAL WARNING BEGINS TO PROGRESSIVELY AND INVOLUNTARILY DECELERATE. IT WILL NOT RESPOND TO APPLICATION OF THE INCREASE SPEED BUTTON ON THE CRUISE CONTROL PANEL NOR WILL IT INCREASE SPEED WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS PUSHED. EVENTUALLY THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN. TAKES MULTIPLE TRIES OF RESTARTING IT TO GET IT TO MOVE AGAIN. DATES: 11-25-10 & 1-30-11. MALFUNCTION 2: THE GEARS PERIODICALLY WILL NOT ENGAGE BETWEEN 2ND, 3RD, 4TH. THIS LASTS A FEW SECONDS WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING. SINCE 9/2010, THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES. UPDATED IVOQ 03/04/11 *TR
I'VE RECENTLY PURCHASED A HONDA FIT SPORT 2010, ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, THE MILEAGE IS AT 7,000 MILES. LAST NIGHT, THE DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE COMPLETELY BLEW OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. *TR
I HAVE A 2010 FIT SPORT THAT DOESN'T WANDER OR PULL, DRIVES GREAT. I HAVE ANOTHER 2010 FIT SPORT NEVER DAMAGED WITH 6000 MILES THAT: 1. WANDERS BADLY 2. PULLS LEFT WHEN DECELERATING AND RIGHT WHEN ACCELERATING. 3. WILL NOT RETURN TO STRAIGHT WHEN RELEASED. YOU MUST RETURN IT YOURSELF AND HUNT FOR STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD YOURSELF. ALL 3 DEFECTS ARE A BIG SAFETY HAZARD: YOU WILL BE IN THE ONCOMING LANE OR CURB BEFORE YOU CAN CORRECT IT. THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX IT. THE ONLY THING THEY DID WAS INCREASE THE TOEIN SOME AND SAID THAT WAS ALL THEY COULD DO. I AM ABOUT TO MAKE A FORMAL COMPLAINT TO ALL WHO WILL LISTEN. IN EACH CASE IT IS IN THE OTHER LANE IN LESS THAN 10 SECONDS IF LEFT TO ITS SELF. THE CAR IS DANGEROUS AND A REAL SAFETY HAZARD. ARE THERE A SERVICE BULLETINS/RECALLS CONCERNING THIS? *TR
SEATS IN HONDA FIT 2010 ARE CAUSING SEVERE BACK PROBLEMS TO THE POINT THAT I MAY NEED TO HAVE SURGERY. I AM NOT PRONE TO SEVERE LOWER BACK PROBLEMS BUT SINCE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE I HAVE BEEN TO THE DOCTOR 3 TIMES AND SEEN A PHYSIOTHERAPIST. THE DOCTOR HAS NOW MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME WITH A PHYSATRIST AND IF THIS DOCTOR CANNOT RESOLVE MY PROBLEM, I WILL HAVE TO HAVE BACK SURGERY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER NOR WAS IT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED EITHER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 18.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG WAS TURNED OFF WITHOUT ANYONE OR ANYTHING IN THE SEAT WHICH SHOULD ONLY OCCUR WHEN SOMEONE UNDER 80 POUNDS WAS IN THE SEAT. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ALSO REPLACED THE SEAT, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8200.
MY BRAND NEW 2010 HONDA FIT SPORT IS BREAKING MY NECK! THE DESIGN OF THE HEADREST DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO SIT IN A COMFORTABLE POSITION. I PURCHASED HONDA FIT AND DROVE IT HOME TO REALIZE THAT I HAVE TO EITHER DRIVE WITHOUT A HEAD RESTRAINT AND COMPROMISE MY SAFETY OR NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE FOR MORE THAN 20 MINUTES A DAY. THE HEAD REST PUSHES MY HEAD FORWARD AND STRAINS MY NECK TO THE POINT THAT I EITHER HAVE TO SIT UPRIGHT AWAY FROM THE SEAT OR STRETCH MY NECK FAR OUT IN PAIN. EITHER WAY IT IS NOT SAFE, WHETHER IN CASE OF ACCIDENT OR GENERALLY FOR MY HEALTH. WITH NO COOL-OFF PERIOD ON NEW CARS IN CALIFORNIA, I CANNOT RETURN THE CAR WHICH AT THIS POINT HAS 12 MILES ON IT, SO I AM FORCED TO DRIVE UNSAFELY. I RAN GOOGLE SEARCH FOR HONDA HEAD REST COMPLAINTS AND FOUND OUT THAT CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT HONDA'S NEW HEAD RESTS FOR THE SAME VERY REASON SINCE 2007, FOR MOST OF THEIR MODELS - FROM ACCORD AND ODYSSEY TO FIT. WHAT MAKES THE MATTER WORSE IS THAT YOU CANNOT REVERSE THE HEADREST AS THERE ARE GROOVES ONLY ON ONE OF THE TWO SUPPORT POLES. BY MAKING HEAD RESTRAINT EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE TO USE, HONDA IS FORCING ITS CUSTOMERS TO DRIVE UNSAFELY, SPECIFICALLY WITHOUT HEAD RESTRAINT. I SPOKE TO SERVICE MANAGER AT MY DEALER AND HE TOLD ME THAT HONDA DOES NOT HAVE ADJUSTABLE OR REVERSIBLE HEAD RESTRAINT. HE IS ALSO AWARE OF THE COMPLAINTS FROM THE CUSTOMERS. SOLUTION SHOULD BE EASY TO IMPLEMENT BY MAKING THE HEAD REST REVERSIBLE FOR THOSE LIKE ME WITH NECK OR BACK PROBLEMS. I DROVE HONDAS FOR 18 YEARS AND CANNOT BELIEVE THAT HONDA HAS NOT RESPONDED TO 3 YEARS OF CONTINUOUS COMPLAINTS BY THE CUSTOMERS. THERE IS NO INJURIES YET, AS THE CAR IS SITTING IN MY GARAGE AS I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. MY SUSPICION BEGAN WITHIN A YEAR OF PURCHASE ,WITH AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS MAKING UNUSUAL SOUND AS IF NOT ENOUGH JUICE TO LOCK OR OPEN AUTOMATICALLY TO MORE CONCERN OF DRIVING WITH A DRAG SENSE AND FEELING LIKE GOING TO STALL AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS APPROXIMATELY 2015? COMPLAINT FORM ASKS FOR EXACT MILEAGE AND YEAR BEGAN. I HAVE HAD BATTERY CHECKED FOR MORE THAN 3 YEARS WHEN QUESTIONING WHY IT DRIVING THIS WAY AND I AM TOLD ,THE BATTERY IS OK. I HAVE REPLACED BATTERY 2X SINCE 2010 FOR ACTUAL BATTERY FAILURE. THE DRIVER DASHBOARD AND DRIVER FOOT AREA HEAT UP TO WHAT HAS BEEN NOTICEABLE AND OF SUSPICION TO ME, FEELING LIKE AN UNUSUAL AND DANGEROUS LEVEL OF HEAT TO TOUCH. TO TOUCH HEATING COOLING KNOB FOR EXAMPLE OR IN AREA OF DASHBOARD AND ELECTRONIC KNOBS HAVE BEEN VERY HOT. I HAD JUST SEEN ONLINE AND READ ABOUT A 2010 HONDA FIT ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING NHTSA CAMPAIGN #11V101000 RECALL DATED MARCH 7, 2011. I AM TOLD BY HONDA AND NHTSA THAT MY 2010 HONDA FIT IS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO NOT BEING OF SAME MANUFACTURER OF OTHER HONDA FITS OF THIS RECALL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA FIT EQUIPPED WITH DUNLOP SP31 TIRES, SIZE P175/65R15. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE A "TIRE PRESSURE" LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THE LOW PRESSURE WAS DUE TO CLIMATIC CHANGES. THE TIRES WERE THEN FILLED WITH AIR TO THE PROPER TIRE PRESSURE. I WAS DRIVING MY 2010 HONDA FIT SPORT AUTOMATIC AT 25MPH ON A CITY STREET, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF, ALL DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS WENT COMPLETELY DARK; I PULLED THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, NOTICING THAT POWER STEERING AND BRAKE ASSIST WERE INACTIVE SO IT WAS A CHALLENGE TO GET THE CAR PULLED OVER. THE VEHICLE RE-STARTED ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND GAVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO ME WITH NO REPAIR WORK DONE. 9 DAYS LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS TIME THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, DASHBOARD WENT DARK, AND MY IPOD WAS FROZEN, WHICH WAS CONNECTED THROUGH THE USB PORT(IT WAS NOT CONNECTED DURING THE FIRST STALL). THE ENGINE DID NOT START ON THE FIRST OR SECOND ATTEMPT, BUT ON THE THIRD. ONCE THE VEHICLE STARTED, I TRIED TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE, BUT THE SHIFTER WAS STUCK AND WOULD NOT SHIFT. I PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS, AND SPENT ABOUT 60 SECONDS TRYING TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE BEFORE IT ACTUALLY BECAME UNSTUCK AND ALLOWED ME TO SHIFT. AT THAT POINT I THEN DROVE AWAY, I HAD BEEN BLOCKING TRAFFIC AT A BUSY INTERSECTION, AND THEN NOTICED THAT THE IPOD WAS FROZEN AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO MY RESTART ATTEMPTS. I EVENTUALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO RESET THE IPOD AND IT WORKS FINE NOW. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM (AGAIN), AND KEPT IT AT THEIR SHOP FOR 9 DAYS STRAIGHT. THEY EVENTUALLY TOLD ME I JUST HAD TO TAKE IT BACK, SO I DID. NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER WERE DISPLAYED ON BOTH THE INCIDENTS. *TR
