TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 73000 MILES. HONDA REPLACED WITH A REMANUFACTURED UNIT ONLY DUE TO THE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT FILED AGAINST THEM. THE REPLACEMENT TRANS WAS RETURNED TWICE TO THE DEALER TO COMPLAIN ABOUT A HIGH PITCH WINE IN 3RD GEAR. THEY SAID IT WAS OK AND DID NOTHING. NOW THIS REMAN TRANS HAS ONLY 35000 MILES AND IT SHOWS A PO740 CODE AND HAS AN ENGAGEMENT PROBLEM FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR NEUTRAL TO DRIVE. HONDA SAYS TOUGH LUCK, YOUR ON YOUR OWN. 2000 HONDA ODYESSY. SLIDING DOOR(S) WILL NOT TOTALLY CLOSE SOMETIMES, OR WILL APPEAR CLOSED. WILL BE TURNING A CORNER AND THE DOOR ALARM WILL GO OFF AND DOOR WILL CLICK LIKE COMING AJAR. WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR, IT COULD BE DANGEROUS. HAVE TO STOP AND OPEN DOOR ALL THE WAY AND THEN RECLOSE, THEN LOCK AND MOST OF THE TIME WILL HELP, NOT ALWAYS. HAVE TAKEN TO HONDA DEALER AND AFTER $600 REPAIR IT LASTED A TWO WEEKS BEFORE IT STARTED TO IT AGAIN.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 20-40 MPH, THE DASHBOARD LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING 30-40 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE THEN FAIL TO ACCELERATE WHEN HE DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE EGR VALVE CAUSED THE FAILURE AND MADE THE REPLACEMENT HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE DEALER THEN STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CAUSED THE FAILURE AND RECOMMENDED A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. AS OF JANUARY 3, 2008, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID #04V176000) HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,169 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,126.
I HAVE OWNED MY HONDA ODYSSEY SINCE 2004 AND I LOVE IT. I HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH HONDA IN GENERAL. THE ONLY COMPLAINT I HAVE IS THE SLIDING DOORS STICK SO MUCH THAT I HAVE TO PUSH ON THE INSIDE AND PULL ON THE OUTSIDE IN ORDER TO GET THEM TO OPEN. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 3 OF THE HANDLES WHICH WERE AROUND $80-$90 EACH TIME BECAUSE THEY ARE PLASTIC AND KEEP ON BREAKING. THE ONE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS BROKE AGAIN AND I HAVEN'T YET GOTTEN IT FIXED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THERE WAS A SLIP IN THE TRANSMISSION, BUT HE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST WEAR AND TEAR OF THE VEHICLE. SOMEONE INFORMED THE CONTACT OF A RECALL, BUT HE NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE. HE CALLED HONDA AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL, BUT DUE TO A TECHNICALITY REGARDING THE WARRANTY OR TIME LIMITS, HE WAS INELIGIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THAT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED 100,000 MILES, THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. THE PURCHASE DATE AND RECALL NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 142,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUES TO ILLUMINATE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
2000 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS THAT MALFUNCTION. THE DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. THE DOOR IS NOT FLUSH WITH THE SIDE (REAR) PANEL. THERE IS ABOUT A 3/8 INCH GAP BETWEEN THE REAR PANEL AND THE BACK OF THE DOOR. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE DOOR MIGHT NOT PROTECT THE OCCUPANTS BECAUSE IT IS NOT SECURE. WILL THE DOOR FLY OFF DURING AN IMPACT? I HAVE HAD TO TURN OFF THE POWER TO THE DOORS SO THAT IT OPERATES MANUALLY. HOWEVER, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO OPEN AND CLOSE - MY WIFE AND FOURS KIDS, INCLUDING MY 15 YEAR OLD SON CANNOT OPEN OR CLOSE THE DOOR MANUALLY. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT EXITING THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY. THE KIDS MAY BE IN A SITUATION WHERE THEY ARE TRAPPED. IT ALSO WOULD BECOME A PROBLEM IF WE HAD TO ENTER THE VEHICLE QUICKLY AND WERE NOT ABLE TO DO SO. *TR
SLIDING DOOR ON YEAR 2000 HONDA MINI VAN JAMS PARTIALLY CLOSED. RELEASED AFTER CAR GOES OVER SEVERAL BUMPS IN ROAD, ALLOWING DOOR TO SLAM SHUT SIMILAR TO GUILLOTINE. *AK VAN TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR, HONDA SERVICE PERSONNEL FAMILIAR WITH PROBLEM: DEFECTIVE PLASTIC BEARING ON DOOR. PLASTIC BEARING PROBABLY FAILED IN PART DUE TO JAMMING OF DOOR'S SEALS (WHICH HAVE A HONDA SERVICE CAMPAIGN).
NUMEROUS TRANSMISSION FAILURES REQUIRING MULTIPLE REPLACEMENTS. THE LAST ONE WAS LESS THAN 20000 MILES, AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THE LATEST FAILURE WOULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED HAD HONDA NOTIFIED TRANSMISSION REPAIR FACILITIES TO ALSO REPLACE A CONTROL MODULE.*AK
MARCH 2007. WAS INFORMED BY HONDA DEALERSHIP IN IRVINE, CA THAT THE PROBLEM THAT EXISTED WITH MY 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY NOT PROVIDING COLD AIR WAS IN FACT A DAMAGED A/C CONDENSER. THE SERVICE TECH. SHOWED ME THE AREA IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHERE THE DAMAGE TO THE A/C CONDENSER HAD OCCURRED. THE SERVICE TECH INFORMED ME THAT THE RESULT WAS MOST LIKELY FROM A ROCK OR SIMILAR OBJECT STRIKING THE CONDENSER. AFTER FURTHER REVIEWING THE DAMAGED CONDENSER, I REALIZED THAT THE CONDENSER IS MOUNTED IN SUCH A FASHION IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AS NOT HAVING THE PROTECTION FROM ROAD DEBRIS THAT IT POSSIBLY SHOULD. THERE IS ONLY A SMALL GRILL THAT COVERS THE FRONT OF THE A/C CONDENSER. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT A DESIGN PROBLEM EXISTS WITH THE ODYSSEY, IN THE FACT THAT I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO MY SITUATION THAT OTHERS CURRENTLY OR PREVIOUSLY HAVE HAD WITH THE HONDA ODYSSEY. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE VEHICLE MADE A NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED AN EGR REPLACEMENT KIT. THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE FREE OF CHARGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
HONDA ODYSSEY 2000. SOME MANUFACTURING DEFECT HAS CAUSED THE REAR MOTORIZED SLIDING DOOR TO FAIL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE SECURELY. IF THE DOOR HANDLE, OUTSIDE OR INSIDE WAS PULLED OR BUMPED THE DOOR CAME UNLATCHED BUT WILL NOT OPEN OR CLOSE, WHETHER THE VEHICLEWAS IN PARK OR NOT. THE DOOR OPEN LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE SO THE DRIVER WAS UNAWARE THAT CHILDREN RIDING IN THE BACK WERE AT RISK. *AK
THE SLIDING DOORS ON MY VAN QUIT WORKING, FIRST THE SUPER CHEEP PLASTIC HANDLES BROKE. I'VE REPLACED THEM 3 TIMES. THEN THE AUTOMATIC OPENER QUIT WORKING. AFTER GETTING IT FIXED 3 TIMES, AND REPLACING THE LATCHES, THE DOORS STILL DON'T CLOSE COMPLETELY. THE DOORS ARE NOT BEING SECURED! I'M HAVING TO DRIVE WITH THE DOOR AJAR AND REAR DOOR SWITCH OFF SO THE BUZZER SHUTS OFF. SOMETIMES MY KIDS GET TRAPPED IN MY VAN AND HAVE TO EXIT THROUGH THE FRONT OR THE BACK. I WORRY ABOUT IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT. HONDA WONT FIX IT. "IT IS NOT A REGULAR OCCURRENCE." SAYS HONDA SHOP MANAGER. AFTER LOOKING ON THE INTERNET, IT IS A PROBLEM! THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2000-2002 HONDA ODYSSEY'S SLIDER DOORS AND THE DEALERS' INABILITY TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

HONDA ODYSSEY 2000 SLIDING DOOR DOESN'T OPEN OR CLOSE IT IS STUCK - BUT IT IS OPEN ENOUGH TO HAVE THE ALARM SOUNDING IF YOU ARE NOT IN PARK. I AM WORRIED FOR MY CHILDREN'S SAFETY - WHAT IF THE DOOR DECIDES TO FLY OPEN IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. I FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND WANT TO KNOW IF THERE IS A RECALL. LOOKING ONLINE THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM. *JB
MY 2000 LX HONDA ODYSSEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SLIDING DOORS LEADING THEM TO GET STUCK AND WE ARE NOT ABLE TO OPEN THEM. WE LIVE IN FL AND THERE ARE DIFFERENT TEMPERATURE THROUGH THE YEAR AND THIS WILL HAPPEN ALL YEAR ROUND. AFTER TALKING TO THE DEALER AND EXTENSIVE RESEARCH WE REALIZE THAT WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES WITH THIS PROBLEM. TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR DOESN'T LOCK INTO POSITION. THE CONTACT HAS A SAFETY RECALL FOR HIS VEHICLE. WHEN THE CONTACT SPOKE TO THE DEALER HE WAS TOLD THAT HIS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SAFETY RECALL. THE CONTACT WANTS THE DEALER TO HONOR THE SAFETY RECALL ON HIS CAR. THE CONTACT HAS SPOKEN WITH HONDA MOTORS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FILED A CASE NUMBER N012006-12-040028 ON DECEMBER 4, 2006. ALSO SENT A LETTER TO MR. TAKEO SUKUI WHO IS THE PRESIDENT AND CEO OF HONDA MOTORS VERBALLY RESPONDED AND TOLD HIM THAT THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE RECALL ON HIS CAR. LETTER SENT DECEMBER 1, 2006 AND VERBAL RESPONSE TODAY DECEMBER 21, 2006. THE CONTACT HAS KEPT CORRESPONDENCE.
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS SEAT BELT IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE DUE TO HIS LARGE SIZE. HE STATED THAT HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURE AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A SEAT BELT EXTENDER. THE CONTACT IS CONCERN ABOUT HIS SAFETY AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP HE CAN TAKE.

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL,# 00V119000, REGARDING THE DOOR LATCH. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CHILD KICKED THE BUTTON ON THE CHILD SEAT THAT RELEASED THE BELT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ALERTED. THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT WAS A BRITAX ROUNDABOUT, MANUFACTURED ON OCTOBER 22, 2004.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE SECOND GEAR FAILED AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT.
ELECTRONIC DOORS DO NOT SHUT COMPLETELY. WE BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE THE DOORS TO NOT LOCK COMPLETELY. THE BUZZER HAS TO BE DISABLED FOR OUR SANITY. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VAN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES BUT A PERMANENT FIX CANNOT BE MADE. THESE DOORS HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE SINCE THE VAN WAS FIRST RELEASED, AND THEY ARE A SAFETY HAZARD. I AM AFRAID THE PARTIALLY CLOSED DOOR MAY OPEN AT HIGH SPEED, CAUSING POSSIBLE INJURY TO MY CHILDREN, OR CAUSING THE DISTRACTED DRIVER TO SWERVE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS DEFECT MUST BE ADDRESSED BY HONDA. *NM
MY 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER'S FINGER GOT CAUGHT IN THE SLIDING DOOR OF OUR 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY MINI VAN. THE DOOR MECHANISM FAILED TO DETECT HER FINGER IN ITS PATH AND PROCEEDED TO CLOSE RESULTING IN CONTUSION AND ABRASION. SHE WAS TREATED AT AN EMERGENCY CARE FACILITY WHERE THEY RULED OUT ANY BROKEN BONES (THANKFULLY). EXTREME HUMAN FORCE WAS NEEDED TO PRY THE DOOR OPEN SO THAT SHE COULD REMOVE HER INJURED FINGER FROM THE CLOSED DOOR. THIS DOOR HAS BEEN CHECKED IN THE PAST ON 2 OCCASIONS BY 2 SEPARATE HONDA DEALERSHIPS. BOTH DETERMINED THAT THE DOOR OPERATED IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S GUIDELINES. I AM SO THANKFUL THAT THE OUTCOME WAS NOT MORE SERIOUS AS IT COULD HAVE BEEN. I AM ONLY INTERESTED IN GETTING THE WORD OUT TO OTHER OWNERS AND FIND OUT WHAT THE MANUFACTURER HAS TO SAY ABOUT THESE CIRCUMSTANCES. *NM
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY AND AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE REAR SLIDING DOOR NOT CLOSING. IT REQUIRES US TO DRIVE WITH THE LIGHT ON WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE AT NIGHT. THE BUZZER SOUNDS INTERMITTENTLY CAUSING US TO MANUALLY TURN OFF POWER TO THE DOOR HENCE TRAPPING OUR PASSENGERS IN THE CAR SHOULD THERE BE AN ACCIDENT. I BOUGHT MY 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY BRAND NEW, AT 40,000 MILES IN 2006 MY TRANSMISSION FAILED IN AN INTERSECTION THAT ALMOST KILLED MY FAMILY. HONDA REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION. THEN IN 2009 WHILE I WAS ON VACATION ABOUT 150 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOME ABOUT 2AM IN THE MORNING ON A HIGHWAY IN PA WITH 80,000 MILES MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN ONCE AGAIN PUTTING MY FAMILY IN DANGER ! THE HONDA DEALER IN PA REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION. I WAS STUCK IN PA WITH MY FAMILY. I HAD TO LEAVE MY CAR OUT THERE FOR A WEEK. THEN AGAIN AFTER HONDA REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION AT 111,000 MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT HONDA IS NOT FIXING ! *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS WITH PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS DELAYED IN SHIFTING GEARS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPLACEMENT, THE SLUGGISH TRANSMISSION PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. IT WAS DETERMINED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING AND NEEDED REBUILT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
WE (MY WIFE AND I) HAVE A 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY EX. THE AUTOMATIC ELECTRIC SLIDING DOORS ARE CONSTANTLY BREAKING AND THEY COST A SMALL FORTUNE TO REPAIR. WE PURCHASED THE HONDA BECAUSE OF THEIR REPUTATION FOR CREATING RELIABLE AUTOMOBILES. AT A MINIMUM, THEY SHOULD OFFER A WAY TO CONVERT THE DOOR FROM AUTOMATIC TO MANUAL SO THEY CAN BE SAFELY CLOSED AND SO THE AUTOMATIC MECHANISM DOESN'T HAVE TO BE REPAIRED EVERY 6 MONTHS. *JB

THE DEALER STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED BASED OFF THE MANUFACTURED DATE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE SPEED AND FUEL TYPE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

REPLACED TWO TIRES. TODAY THE REMAINING GOODYEAR REGATTA EXPERIENCED A HIGH SPEED SEPARATION OF THE SIDEWALL TREAD WITH A CONCURRENT BLOW OUT WITH MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AT THE WHEEL. RESEARCHED ISSUE FOUND THAT FOR THE 2000 HONDA ODYSSEYS, HONDA ACKNOWLEDGED A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS USED. MY VEHICLE WAS OF CANADIAN ORIGIN HOWEVER IT WAS NONETHELESS AFFECTED BY THIS PARTICULAR FLAWED TRANSMISSION AS VERIFIED BY MY VIN. THE DOORS ARE SUPPOSED TO AUTOMATICALLY SLIDE OPEN WHENEVER SHE PRESSES THE BUTTONS OR PULLS ON THE HANDLE. WHEN SHE DOES THIS, THE DOORS FAIL TO OPEN PROPERLY. OCCASIONALLY, THE DOORS DO NOT OPEN AT ALL AND WILL CLOSE HALFWAY, FORCING HER TO HAVE TO EXIT THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND CLOSE THE DOOR MANUALLY. THE FAILURE HAS SINCE WORSENED. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR WAS NOT WORKING AT ALL. THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY CLOSE AND MUST BE OPENED OR CLOSED MANUALLY. BOTH DOORS WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE OF THE WORK PERFORMED ON THE DOORS AT THE TIME OF SERVICE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES WOULD IMMEDIATELY RECUR. THE ONLY WAY THAT THE REAR PASSENGERS COULD EXIT THE VEHICLE WAS THROUGH THE FRONT PASSENGER OR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT IN AN EVENT OF A CRASH, THE CHILDREN WOULD NOT BE SAFE. THE DOORS HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED AND ONLY THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IS CURRENTLY ABLE TO OPEN. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILING AND HAS BEEN REPAIRED AT LEAST THREE TIMES. WHILE DRIVING, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE AND TCM INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. WHEN SHE REACHED 40 MPH, THE RPM DIAL BEGAN MOVING UP AND DOWN RANDOMLY. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES. A FEW DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER REBUILT THE TRANSMISSION; HOWEVER, IT FAILED AGAIN SIX MONTHS LATER. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME, BUT FAILED AGAIN AFTER A FEW WEEKS. THIS EXCEEDS THE 80K EMISSION CONTROL WARRANTY. HOWEVER, I THIS CASE THESE ITEMS HAD BEEN REPLACED AT 75K MILES IN MAY OF 2004 BUT IT IS NOW DECEMBER 2005 AND THE VEHICLE IS PAST THE 1YR/12K MILES REPAIR WARRANTY. I HAVE APPEALED THIS PROBLEM TO DEALERSHIP MANAGEMENT AND THE ARE TALKING TO AMERICAN HONDAS WESTERN REGION MANAGER AS I AM WRITING THIS, SO I DON'T KNOW IF THEY WILL DECIDE TO COVER THE REPAIR OR NOT, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE NEXT TIME. THE DOORS WERE CLOSED BUT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED INTO DRIVE THE ALARM IN THE CAR WOULD SOUND AS IF ONE OF THE DOORS WAS OPEN. I CHECKED THE DOORS AND AFTER A COUPLE OF TIMES OF OPENING AND CLOSING THEM, THE ALARM DID NOT SOUND. I WAS DUE TO HAVE THE CAR SERVICED FOR ITS 75,000 MILE SERVICE SO I WAITED TO BRING IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR IT'S ROUTINE SERVICE, AS I DO FOR EACH SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE, I WAS TOLD THAT THE DOOR SWITCH WAS THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT WOULD COST $1,100 TO FIX. I EXPLAINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED AT THE TIME I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. HONDA IN TURN TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD CALLED THE WARRANTY COMPANY (APPARENTLY THE WARRANTY WAS NOT A HONDA EXTENDED WARRANTY. ALTHOUGH, THIS IS WHAT ROSENTHAL HAD PORTRAYED IT AS) ABOUT THE REPAIR AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED. THEY TOLD ME THAT I COULD CALL THE WARRANTY COMPANY TO COMPLAIN IF I FELT SO INCLINED TO DO. I CALLED THE WARRANTY COMPANY AND THEY SAID THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE IS JUST OVER 75,063 MILES. THEY DID NOT CARE THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. MY QUESTION IS HOW CAN THIS BE A NON-RECALL ISSUE IF A NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS SITUATION IS THE EXACT REASON WHY I PURCHASED HONDA'S EXTENDED WARRANTY.
