THE AC STOPPED WORKING ON OUR YEAR OLD VEHICLE. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTICS THEY ADVISED A LEAK WAS FOUND ON THE AC CONDENSER WHICH WAS CAUSED BY ROAD DEBRIS. THEY INDICATED THAT TYPE OF DAMAGE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND HANDED ME A REPAIR ESTIMATE FOR $764.92. I DECLINED THE REPAIR BID AND TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME ONLY TO FIND OUT THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF OTHER HONDA ODYSSEY OWNERS REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND THE SAME STORY GIVEN BY THE DEALERSHIPS. AFTER FINDING THIS INFORMATION I CONFRONTED THE DEALER AND ATTEMPTED TO BARGAIN WITH THEM GLADLY OFFERING TO PAY FOR THE LABOR TO INSTALL THE NEW CONDENSER BUT NOT FOR THE PART. NEEDLESS TO SAY MY EFFORTS WERE FUTILE AND I WAS REFERRED TO HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE. IN JANUARY I FILED A CASE WITH HONDA WHO AFTER ABOUT A WEEK CONTACTED ME AND INFORMED THAT BECAUSE THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY ROAD DEBRIS THEY WERE COULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE. I CERTAINLY CAN NOT HOLD HONDA RESPONSIBLE FOR ROAD DEBRIS DAMAGE SUCH AS A CRACKED WINDSHIELD OR PUNCTURED TIRE. HOWEVER, I STILL HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR POOR DESIGN AND PLACEMENT OF SUCH CRITICAL AND FRAGILE PART IN A PLACE WHERE IS MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO GET HIT BY ROAD DEBRIS. WITH YEARS OF CAR DESIGN EXPERIENCE YOU WOULD EXPECT A COMPANY LIKE HONDA WOULD TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION. HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT AND EXPECT THE CONSUMER TO PAY FOR THEIR DESIGN FLAW. *TR
NEW 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L MINIVAN / MAY 28, 2008 TOOK DELIVERY A FEW DAYS LATER, IN JUNE. TWO WEEKS AGO THE ENGINE LIGHT MYSTERIOUSLY CAME ON FOR 1/2 A DAY AND THEN TURNED OFF BY ITSELF. A WEEK LATER THE TIRE SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON. ON WED ( NOV 12, 2008) WHILE DRIVING MY 3 YEAR OLD & 8 YEAR OLD SONS TO SCHOOL, THE THROTTLE STARTED TO STICK. IT DID IT ONCE LIGHTLY - DID NOT RESPOND WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. I APPLIED THE BRAKE & THE CAR STOPPED. THE ENGINE SETTLED DOWN AND WE SET OUT AGAIN & IT DID THE SAME THING. WE STOPPED BUT WERE ONE BLOCK AWAY FROM SCHOOL & THE ENGINE SOUNDED NORMAL AGAIN, SO WE SET OFF AGAIN. THIS TIME, WHILE GOING UP A FAIRLY STEEP HILL, THE ENGINE TOOK OVER AND THE THROTTLE WENT ON FULL BLAST - THE REGULAR BRAKE WOULD NOT STOP THE CAR ! I APPLIED THE BRAKE- MASHING IT TO THE FLOOR & WE KEPT GOING FORWARD ! I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL & PUT ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHICH STOPPED THE CAR RIGHT BEFORE HITTING THE PARKING LOT FENCE BUT THE ENGINE WAS SCREAMINGLY HIGH & I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BLOW. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE WITH THE KEY & IT STOPPED. WE HAD AAA TOW IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 30 MIN LATER. THE SERVICE DEPT. DID INVESTIGATE & WAS ABLE TO SEE THE ENGINE LIGHT ERROR MESSAGE FROM TWO WEEKS AGO - BUT WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS "AN ODD UNRELATED SENSOR CODE" THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE THROTTLE. THAT CODE WAS A SENSOR MALFUNCTION & IT WAS RESET. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE CAR OVER THE WEEKEND & ON MONDAY WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY WERE GIVING THE CAR BACK TO US WITH NOTHING FIXED BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT TRACK ANY OTHER ERROR MESSAGES & COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED HONDA WHO DECLINED TO REPLACE THE COMPUTER. THE DEALERSHIP ASKED IF THEY COULD REPLACE THE COMPUTER AS GOOD WILL & HONDA TOLD THEM THE DEALERSHIP WOULD ASSUME ALL RISK FOR LIABILITY - SO THE OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIP DECLINED TO REPLACE THE COMPUTER. WE ARE NOW FACED WITH THIS NEW/LEMON CAR THAT HAS A LIFE THREATENING COMPUTER GLITCH/VIRUS AND NO RECOURSE. *TR
BRAND NEW 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY BRAKE BECAME SOFT TWICE WHEN APPLIED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED GOING, THERE WAS NO VEHICLE IN FRONT OF SO THERE WAS NO CRASH. IT WAS WET ROAD. THIS HAPPENED TWICE WITH IN A MONTH. WENT TO DEALER FOR BRAKE CHECK AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS OK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL DRIFT TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. THIS CONDITION REDUCES HIS ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND THE VEHICLE WAS REALIGNED FIVE TIMES, THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM WAS REPLACED, AND A SET OF TIRES WERE REPLACED. AFTER ALL OF THE REPAIRS THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. HE WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER TO PURSUE THE LEMON LAW. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5. THE VAN WAS OPERATING NORMALLY UNTIL PARKED OVER NIGHT IN DRIVE WAY. OUR DRIVEWAY IS SLIGHTLY INCLINED AND THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH ENGINE FACING FORWARD. THE NEXT MORNING THE CAR STARTED FINE AND WAS WARMING UP. 5 MINUTES LATER IT STALLED OUT AND WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER 2 DAYS THEY SAID THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. ABOUT 1 MONTH LATER THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM OCCURRED. THE VAN IS AGAIN SCHEDULED FOR SERVICE THIS WEEK. I NOTICED A SIMILAR POSTING ON THIS WEB SITE CLAIMING THAT THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED BEHIND THE GAS TANK AND IT WAS DESIGNED THIS WAY. THEREFORE THERE IS NO FIX TO THIS CLAIM. KNOWING THIS DETAIL, I WENT OUTSIDE AND PUT THE VAN IN NEUTRAL TO LET THE VAN COAST TO A MORE LEVEL STATE. THE VEHICLE THEN STARTED AFTER THE 2ND ATTEMPT. I'M STILL GOING TO KEEP THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE AS I FEEL THIS CONDITION IS UNACCEPTABLE. I'VE OWNED 2 OTHER HONDA'S (DIFFERENT MODELS) AND NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF CONDITION WHILE LIVING AT THE SAME RESIDENCE. *TR
2008 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS TO HAVE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AT 4000 MILES/ 3 MONTHS OLD DUE TO LEAK. DEALERSHIP TRIED REPLACING FRONT CASE SEAL BUT DIDN'T FIX PROBLEM. SERVICE WRITER SAID THAT THIS IS KNOWN PROBLEM WITH HONDA AND THESE TRANSMISSIONS AND THAT THEY ALWAYS TRY REPLACING SEAL FIRST THEN REPLACE TRANSMISSION. *TR
TRANSMISSION ERROR VEHICLE VIBRATES WHEN DOWN SHIFTING THE GEARS. DEALER TOLD US IT WAS AN RECALL AND EXCHANGED THE TRANSMISSION BUT STILL HAD THAT PROBLEM.WAS REPAIRED AGAIN AND THIRD TIME IT STARTED HAVING SAME PROBLEMS. *TR
MY 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS TERRIBLE BRAKE PROBLEMS. I HAVE HAD THEM LOOKED AT TWICE FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD. I DID AN ONLINE SEARCH AND FOUND OUT OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. LOTS OF GRINDING SOUNDS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2008 AND HAS LOGGED 2800 MILES. THE VEHICLE EXHIBITS SOFT BRAKES WITH EXCESSIVE PEDAL TRAVEL OF 3 INCHES WITH A SPONGY FEEL AT THE END AND REQUIRED EXCESSIVE FORCE TO PRODUCE AN ABRUPT STOP. HE HAS HAD DIFFICULTY STOPPING BEFORE CROSSING A LINE AT AN INTERSECTION AND ALMOST BROAD SIDED A VEHICLE AT 15 MPH BECAUSE IT TOOK SO LONG TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER, CHECKED THE ABS AND BLED THE BRAKE LINE WITH NO CHANGE IN PERFORMANCE. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKES ARE OPERATING NORMALLY. A COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER; HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE OR REFUND WAS RECEIVED FROM THEM OR THE DEALER. HE IS FORCED TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2800.
2008 MODEL YEAR HONDA ODYSSEY.. RECALL PERFORMED, BRAKES MUCH IMPROVED. 4K MILES LATER BRAKE PEDAL VERY LOW AND VERY SOFT. RECALL WAS PERFORMED A SECOND TIME. SOME IMPROVEMENT. ANOTHER 4K MILES PEDAL IS VERY LOW AND SOFT. *TR
TWO WEEKS AGO WE PURCHASED A 2008 ODYSSEY. SATURDAY MORNING, IT DROVE ITSELF INTO A SHED AFTER TRAVELING UP A HILL AND STILL IN PARK! SITUATION: I WAS UNHOOKING A TRAILER, MY SON WAS HELPING. I GOT IN THE VAN TO PULL THE TRAILER FORWARD A BIT AS WE WERE ON A HILL AND THE TRAILER WAS STUCK, SEEN AS IT WAS NOT LATCHED DOWN.. MY FAULT, AS SOON AS I MOVED IT UNHOOKED AND STARTED ROLLING AWAY, I SLAMMED THE VAN INTO PARK, GOT OUT AND RAN AFTER THE TRAILER, GOT THE TRAILER STOPPED, I THEN TURNED AROUND AND THE VAN WAS DRIVING OFF, NOT JUST SLOWLY BUT PICKING UP SPEED AS IT WAS DRIVING UP A HILL AND THEN DROVE INTO THE NEIGHBORS SHED. I RAN AFTER IT IN AN ATTEMPT TO CATCH IT, IT IS MY BELIEF THAT IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN GOING ABOUT 15 MILES PER HOUR. I GOT TO THE VAN AND IT WAS IN PARK. I HAD TO TURN THE KEY OF TO GET IT TO QUIT TRYING TO INCH IT'S WAY FORWARD. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY BASICALLY SAID NO KNOWN ISSUES SO YOU ARE SCREWED.. I CALLED HONDA OF AMERICA ND THEY WERE NOT REALLY WILLING TO ASSIST IN THE MATTER. I DO HAVE A CLAIM TICKET OPEN WITH THEM AT THIS TIME. *TR
2008 HONDA ODYSSEY LEASED ON MAY 27, 2008 AT PS HONDA (LONG ISLAND). CAR BROKE DOWN ON AUGUST 15 AT I-95 CT TPKE. CAUSE WAS A TRANSMISSION LEAK AND CLUTCH GOT BURNED. UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN WILL IT BE FIXED. HONDA WESTPORT AND PS HONDA REFUSED TO SHOULDER CAR RENTAL. FILED A COMPLAINT AT AMERICAN HONDA ABOUT THE NEW VAN THAT BROKE DOWN AND REFUSAL TO PAY CAR RENTAL. *TR
SOFT BRAKES RESULTING IN OTHERS HAVING ACCIDENTS AS DETAILED IN EDMUNDS.COM HONDA ODYSSEY FORM. DEALER HAS NO PERMANENT SOLUTION. HAVE CASE OPEN WITH HONDA AND THEIR ONLY RESPONSE IS THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON A FIX. THIS IS TAKING WAY TOO LONG AS THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE SINCE FEBRUARY 2007. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR LATER THE CONTACT RECEIVED AN UNKNOWN RECALL NOTICE ADVISING HIM TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR A TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPGRADE. THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE WAS SUPPOSED TO REMEDY THE VIBRATIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE SOFTWARE WAS UPGRADED. A FEW WEEKS LATER THE FAILURE BEGAN TO RECUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 240,100.
BRAKE PEDAL MUST TRAVEL APPROXIMATELY TWO INCHES BEFORE ANY BRAKING STARTS TO OCCUR. EVEN THEN THE PEDAL MUST BE PUSHED EXCESSIVELY FAR BEFORE REAL BRAKING STARTS TO HAPPEN. THIS OCCURS ALL OF THE TIME. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT IS WITHIN NORMAL RANGE. HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED BRAKES LIKE THIS. OWN 2 OTHER HONDAS AND HAVE HAD PROBABLY 25 DIFFERENT CARS IN LIFETIME. NOTHING CLOSE TO THIS UNLESS BRAKES ARE FAILING. HONDA ODYSSEY FORUM GROUPS ALL REPORT THIS AS A PROBLEM ON THE NEWER (2007-2008) ODYSSEYS. BIGGEST CONCERN IS AT SLOWER SPEEDS WHERE I HAVE PUSHED THE PEDAL A "NORMAL" AMOUNT AND NOTHING HAPPENED AND ALMOST HIT CAR/OBJECT/GARAGE. WORRIED THAT THIS WILL RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO SLUGGISH BRAKES AND WAY TO MUCH PLAY IN THE PEDAL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT LEFT THE ENGINE RUNNING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND IT SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. WITH A HALF A TANK OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE GAS TANK WAS DEFECTIVE. THE FUEL PUMP IS AT THE REAR OF THE TANK; THEREFORE, IF THE VEHICLE IS PARKED FACING DOWNHILL, FUEL CANNOT FLOW BACK TO THE VEHICLE FOR IT TO START. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE IT WAS DESIGNED IN THAT MANNER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 8,100.
07/22/08 - SPONGY BRAKE PEDAL CAN BE DEPRESSED TO 1/2 INCH OF FLOOR WITH MODERATE PRESSURE AND CAN BE PUMPED TO RESTORE HEIGHT AND EFFECTIVENESS. HONDA DEALER SERVICE TECH "DID NOT REALLY FEEL ANY ABNORMALITY - BUT BRAKES WERE BLED TO ADDRESS CLIENT CONCERN AND BRAKES FEEL BETTER" 07/09/09 - BRAKE PEDAL FEELS SOFT. HONDA DEALER SERVICE "BRAKE PEDAL FEELS SOFT - SEE BULLETIN 07-045 VERIFIED AND ORDERED ABS MODULATOR" 07/23/09 - HONDA DEALER SERVICE "CLIENT STATES BRAKE PEDAL FEELS SOFT. INSTALL SOP ABS MODULATOR - DEFECT CODE=03214, SYMPTOM CODE=04907 REPLACED ABS MODULATOR UNIT MANUALLY BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM" COMMENT: THIS REPAIR RESTORED BRAKES TO NORMAL - NOT SPONGY, AND HIGH PEDAL. 01/21/10 - HONDA DEALER SERVICE "CLIENT STATES BRAKES ARE FEELING SPONGY AGAIN. PLEASE CHECK AND ADVISE. CANNOT DUPLICATE CUSTOMER CONCERN AT THIS TIME. MAY BE DUE TO A/C SYSTEM CYCLING IN AND OUT" COMMENT: WAS TOLD THIS IS "NORMAL BRAKE PEDAL FEEL" FOR THIS CAR, WHICH IS AN UNSATISFACTORY RESPONSE, AS THE ABS MODULATOR REPLACEMENT AND BRAKE BLEEDING ON 07/23/09 TEMPORARILY CORRECTED THIS SYMPTOM. THE SPONGY PEDAL SYMPTOM WAS TEMPORARILY REPAIRED BY REMOVING TRAPPED AIR FROM THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND REPLACING THE PART (ABS MODULATOR) THAT WAS THOUGHT TO BE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR . HOWEVER, THERE IS A FLAW IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM BECAUSE THE SPONGY/LOW PEDAL RECURS WHEN AIR AGAIN BECOMES ENTRAPPED WITHIN THE SYSTEM. THE RESULT IS AN UNSAFE BRAKING SYSTEM WHICH HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED.. *TR
2006 HONDA ODYSSEY - ROCK OR SOME TYPE OF ROAD DEBRIS PUNCTURED AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER. THIS RESULTED IN A REPAIR BILL APPROACHING $1000. THE CONDENSER UNIT IS LOCATED IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY PROTECTION. THIS IS A DEFINITE DESIGN FLAW WITH THIS VEHICLE WHICH SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED BY THE HONDA MOTOR VEHICLE CORPORATION. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY FEB 27 2008 AND THE BRAKES WERE WORKING RIGHT, AFTER 2000 MILES THE BRAKE PEDAL STARTED GOING TO THE FLOOR WITH LIGHT PRESSURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE MODULATOR. THIS DID NOT HELP. THREE HUNDRED MILES LATER THEY SAID THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS DEFECTIVE. THE REPLACED IT. THAT DID NOT HELP. THEY BLED THE SYSTEM ACCORDING TO HONDA ENGINEERS. THIS DID NOT HELP. THE DEALER NOW SAYS IT IS NORMAL UNDER HONDAS SPECS. THE PEDAL STILL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND AT TIMES I HAVE TO PUMP THE PEDAL. IT TAKES A LONGER DISTANCE TO STOP THE VAN. *TR
BRAKES NOT STOPPING ACCURATELY. I AM GETTING NOISE FROM THE LEFT FRONT BRAKE. AT TIMES THEY ARE SPONGY, DON'T SEEM TO STOP PROPERLY, AND MAKE ME FEEL UNSAFE. I HAVE TOLD THE DEALER AT LEAST FIVE TIMES. THEY ACT AS IF NOTHING IS WRONG. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW 4/6/2008. *TR
VERY "SOFT" BRAKE PEDAL OPERATION.PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR WHEN IGNITION BEGINS. MUST "PUMP" WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. DLR SAYS (HONDA SAYS) NORMAL, BALONEY!! HAVE CHANGED MAS. CYL. TWICE, ABS MODULATOR ONCE. NO JOY. DLR SAYS "JUST HAVE US BLEED/ADJUST EVERY TIME I BRING IT IN". I'M ON RECORD THAT I'LL SUE IF I HAVE A BRAKE RELATED ACCIDENT (ASSUMING I'M ALIVE). THE BRAKES HAVE CONTINUED TO BE SOFT, SOMETIMES GO TO FLOOR, SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR BLEEDING/ADJUSTING HELPS FOR ABOUT A WEEK. ON SECOND MAS. CYL. REPLACEMENT, DLR. SAID THE BRAKING OPERATION WAS "BYPASSING THE MAS. CYL.". THAT'S CERTAINLY NOT "NORMAL". SOMEBODY NEED TO DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED!!! *TR
HAVE THREE COMPLAINTS. COMPLAINT ONE: THERE IS EXTREMELY LONG PEDAL TRAVEL FOR BRAKE PEDAL. THIS TRAVEL GIVES THE DRIVER A SENSE OF BRAKE FAILURE, AS THOUGH THE BRAKES DON'T WORK OR WILL NOT STOP VEHICLE. HAS BEEN NOTED IN VEHICLE FORUMS AS A COMMON PROBLEM COMPLAINT TWO: WIND NOISE ON THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER PILLAR THAT SEPARATES THE FRONT SEAT AND THE MIDDLE SEAT COMBINATION. HAS BEEN NOTED IN VEHICLE FORUMS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. COMPLAINT THREE: THERE IS SIGNIFICANT DIRT IN PAINT AND PAINT SHADING WHERE IT DOESN'T MATCH REST OF VEHICLE (PAINT SHADING CAN BE SEEN IF THE SUN SHINES ON THE VEHICLE JUST RIGHT). HONDA HAS OFFERED TO REPAINT AFFECTED PARTS. I FEEL THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THE OWNER SHOULDN'T BE REQUIRED TO HAVE A NEW CAR REPAINTED WITH LESS THAN 1000 MILES. BOUGHT A NEW 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY LX ON 5/15, SALESMAN WAS IN A HURRY TO LEAVE SO HE SHOWED ME THE CAR AND A FEW THINGS AND WAS GONE. MY BRAKES FEEL SPONGY AND REQUIRE ME TO APPLY EXTRA PRESSURE TO STOP. MY BRAKES ALSO MAKE A GROANING NOISE WHEN I COME TO A REGULAR STOP. THE DEALERSHIP I TOOK IT TO FOR REPAIRS SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG, EVEN THOUGH THEY HEARD THE NOISE. WHEN USING THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR ON MY 2008 ODYSSEY, THE DOOR'S SENSOR FAILED TO AUTO-REVERSE WHEN MY 2 1/2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER REACHED HER HAND TOWARDS THE DOOR OF THE VAN FROM THE INSIDE. NOT ONLY WERE HER FINGERS AND UPPER HAND HIT BY THE CLOSING DOOR, BUT THE DOOR FAILED TO OPEN AND REMAINED SHUT ON HER HAND UNTIL I MANUALLY OPENED IT. THIS RESULTED IN AN OBVIOUS INJURY TO HER HAND AND A TRIP TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. X-RAYS DID NOT REVEAL A BREAK, BUT SHE WILL HAVE TO BE RE-CHECKED WITH AN ORTHOPEDIC, AS IT MAY HAVE DAMAGED THE GROWTH PLATE IN HER FINGER. ON 4/28/08, THE VEHICLES THROTTLE STOPPED RESPONDING WHILE IN MOTION IN TRAFFIC AND THEN HAD TO BE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE. WHILE THIS HAPPENED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE VSA LIGHTS CAME ON. THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN ALL OF A SUDDEN DUE TO THIS IN TRAFFIC. SIMILAR PROBLEMS HAVE HAPPENED IN THE PAST FOR 4 OTHER TIMES. HERE ARE THE DATES AND DESCRIPTION OF EACH EVENT. 1.ON 12/30/2008, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE VSA LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE CAME ON WITH WEIRD ENGINE NOISE AND I CALLED THE DEALER (AUTO WEST HONDA) IMMEDIATELY TO NOTIFY THEM OF THE PROBLEM. DEALER REQUESTED TO BRING IN THE VEHICLE TO THEIR SERVICE CENTER. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON 01/02/2008. 2.ON 01/13/2008, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VSA LIGHT AND SLIDE DOOR LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE REAR RIGHT SIDE SLIDING DOOR STOPPED WORKING. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALER PERFORMED REPAIR ATTEMPTS AND REPLACED THE RELAY UNIT. 3.ON 01/26/2008, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VSA LIGHT AND THE SLIDE DOOR LIGHTS CAME ON AND THERE WAS NO ENGINE RESPONSE TO THE THROTTLE, VEHICLE WAS TOWED INTO THE DEALERSHIP THE SAME DAY. DEALER ATTEMPTED A REPAIR AND SAID ECM WAS REPLACED. 4.ON 04/11/2008, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VSA LIGHT AND THE SLIDE DOOR LIGHTS CAME ON AND THERE WAS NO ENGINE RESPONSE TO THE THROTTLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TOWED INTO THE DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP TILL 4/19/08. DEALER PERFORMED A REPAIR WITH ADVICE FROM HONDA TECH SUPPORT AND SAID THAT THE MULTIPLEX UNIT WAS REPLACED AND PROBLEM SHOULD NOT RE-OCCUR. *TR

THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT ABOUT A VEHICLE ACCIDENT, HOWEVER IT IS A COMPLAINT ABOUT A VEHICLE DESIGN WHEN INSTALLING A CAR SEAT. ON THE 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY THERE IS AN 8TH SEAT THAT IS IN THE MIDDLE ROW CENTER; IT IS CALLED A MAGIC SEAT. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT A CAR SEAT CAN BE INSTALLED SAFELY IN THIS MAGIC SEAT. HOWEVER, AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR I WAS UNABLE TO FIND A CAR SEAT TO FIT THIS SEAT THAT COULD BE INSTALLED CORRECTLY (MEANING NOT MOVING MORE THAN 1 INCH IN ANY DIRECTION). I TESTED MANY MODELS OF CARS SEATS INCLUDING: BRITAX, GRACO, EVENFLOW, SUNSHINE KIDS, ETC. THE OWNER'S MANUAL OF THE ODYSSEY IS VERY VAGUE ON WHETHER OR NOT A CAR SEAT CAN BE INSTALLED IN THIS SEAT AND AFTER CALLING HONDA USA CUSTOM SERVICE, THE AGENT COULD NOT GIVE A STRAIGHT ANSWER ON WHETHER THIS SEAT WAS DESIGNED TO HOLD A CAR SEAT OR IF ANY CAR SEATS WERE TESTED BY HONDA.
