My doors wasn't latching or shutting all the way. The power doors and windows wouldn't work sometimes. Then the back sliding door fell off. Engaged the automatic door and damaged the side of the van. I seen there were recalls but none for my Vin I don't know what to do.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that when opening the rear driving sliding door, the door detached. The door ended up falling to the ground onto the contact's foot causing permanent injury. Medical attention was needed. The dealer was contacted who stated they were no recall on the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated they noticed that the door was attached by two small arms on the front end of the door (none on the rear end of the door) and a wheel with the track. There was nothing else there to hold the door. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and opened a case regarding the matter. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
VAN SIDE SLIDING DOORS HAVE REAR LOCKING LATCH ACUATOR THAT FAILS. UNDER POWER CLOSE, THE REAR OF THE DOOR WILL PULL IN, LATCH, THEN UNLATCH AND RELEASE THE REAR OF THE DOOR. WITH POWER TO DOORS OFF (FUSE #13 REMOVED) THE DOOR REAR LATCH WILL NOT ENGAGE AT ALL. THE DOOR WITH A FAILED REAR LATCH WILL ALLOW THE DOOR TO SLIDE OPEN COMPLETELY ON ACCELERATION, SLAM FORWARD BUT NOT LATCH ON BRAKING, AND WILL ALSO SLIDE OPEN AROUND A CORNER. THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE I HAD 2 CHILDREN IN THE CENTER SEAT, AT THE SLIDING DOOR OPENINGS. DEALER WANTS $511 PLUS TAX, AND THERE IS A REBUILD SERVICE FOR THE REAR LATCH ON EBAY FOR AROUND $90, PROVING IT IS A CHRONIC, WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM. AS A SIDE NOTE, IF THE 7.5 AMP FUSE IS LEFT INSTALLED IN SLOT 13 FOR SLIDING DOOR POWER, THE BATTERY WILL DISCHARGE OVER NIGHT. THE DEALER WILL NOT GUARANTEE I WILL NOT HAVE A POWER DISCHARGE AFTER THE REAR LATCH (MY LEFT SIDE DOOR IN MY CASE) IS CHANGED, AND FUSE 13 IS REINSTALLED. I'M GLAD MY KIDS WERE STRAPPED IN WHEN THE DOOR FLEW OPEN THE FIRST TIME. THE DOOR WOULD CHOP OFF A HAND IF IT SLAMS SHUT WHILE BREAKING THE VEHICLE. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL ISSUE, AND HONDA SHOULD BE MADE TO RECTIFY THE REAR LATCH (UNLATCHED) ISSUE. SLIDING DOOR ON DRIVERS SIDE STARTED TO BECOME HARD TO OPEN WITHOUT RESISTANCE. EVENTUALLY DIDN'T OPEN MORE THAN HALF WAY. IT BECAME SO HARD TO CLOSE THAT IT NEEDED TO BE PUSHED AFTER THE INITIAL CLOSING. BEFORE IT WAS TAKEN IN FOR REPAIRS THE DOOR COMPLETELY FELL OF THE TRACK ALONG THE SIDE AND TOP OF THE DOOR TRACK. IT WAS HANGING ON BY THE BOTTOM TRACK ALONE. IT APPEARS THE ROLLERS FOR THE TRACK HAVE BROKEN COMPLETELY AND ARE NO LONGER ATTACHED.
STARTED 2019 PEEL OFF THE PAINT BODY BETWEEN MOONROOF AND WINDSHIELD. AREA IS BIGGER, BIGGER...
FOR SOME REASON MY PARTICULAR VAN IS NOT INCLUDED IN AT LEAST 2 RECALLS WHERE OTHER SAME YEAR ODYSSEYS ARE INCLUDED. THESE ALL HAVE THE SAME ENGINE, TRANSMISSION AND FUEL SYSTEM. MY VAN WAS DIAGNOSED BY A MECHANIC AS HAVING A FUEL PUMP MODULE LEAK, WHICH IS RECALLED FOR SOME 2008 ODUSSSEYS, BUT CURIOUSLY NOT FOR MINE. THE SAME SITUATION EXISTS FOR THE TAILGATE STAY GAS LEAKAGE, AGAIN, ALSO RECALLED ON SOME 2008 ODYSSEYS BUT NOT ALL.
THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, WHEN OPENED, BECAME DETACHED FROM THE RAILS BOTH TOP & BOTTOM FALLING COMPLETELY OFF, HANGING ONLY BY THE CABLE. BADLY SCRAPPING THE SIDE OF THE VAN THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE DOOR. APPARENTLY HONDA HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS DESIGN DEFECT FOR MANY YEARS, BUT UNLIKE TOYOTA WHO HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS, HONDA HAS NOT YET ISSUED A RECALL. ASIDE FROM THE OBVIOUS MALFUNCTIONING OF THE DOOR THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS IF NOT FATAL INJURIES TO A SMALL CHILD. THE OPEN BUTTON ON THE DASHBOARD PANEL WAS HIT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY(NOT RUNNING). THE DOOR MADE A GRINDING SOUND, OPENED, FELL OFF IT'S TRACKS AND CONTINUED TO OPEN SCRAPING ALL THE WAY DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VAN AND HANGING BY ONLY THE CABLE WHEN IT STOPPED. FROM LOOKING ON THE INTERNET & FROM TALKING TO A HONDA SERVICE REP, THIS SEEMS TO BE A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM WHICH HONDA HAS CHOSEN TO IGNORE. THE SERVICE PERSONS' ONLY COMMENT WAS THAT MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT HONDA PLANS TO DO ABOUT THIS KNOWN DEFECT. ARE THEY WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR WORSE? WOULDN'T IT MAKE SENSE TO DO A RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE A MAJOR INJURY AND LARGE LAWSUIT?
WHILE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE MANUAL REAR TAILGATE GAS-CHARGED LIFT STRUTS/STAYS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING THE REAR TAILGATE TO FALL ON THE OCCUPANT WITH SIGNIFICANT WEIGHT AND VELOCITY, CAUSING MINOR HEAD INJURIES. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN INSPECTED ROUGHLY 2 WEEKS PRIOR AND NO SIGNS OF IMMINENT FAILURE WERE DETECTED. NO SAFETY MECHANISM EXISTS TO PREVENT THE TAILGATE FROM FALLING IN THE EVENT OF LIFT SUPPORT FAILURE.
PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR JUMPED TRACK AND BROKE OFF DURING NORMAL OPERATIONS. VEHICLE WAS PARKED, AND PASSENGERS HAD EXITED.
2008 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L WITHOUT POWER LIFT GATE. THE REAR HATCH STRUTS PART # 74820SHJA01 FAILED IN A DANGEROUS WAY. THEY WERE WORKING PERFECT THE TIME BEFORE WITH NOW SIGNS OF ANY LEAKING OR WEAKNESS AND THE VERY NEXT TIME THEY FAILED CAUSING THE REAR DOOR TO SLAM DOWN IN AN UNCONTROLLED MANNER. I CHECKED THE VIN FOR THE RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 12V062000 NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE11034 DATE FEB 16, 2012 STRUCTURE: BODY: HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE: HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS BUT STATE MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, BUT I FIND IT STRANGE THAT THE FAILURE ACTED IN THE SAME MANNER AS THE RECALL. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
MY DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR FELL OFF. IT WAS ON ONE MINUTE AND THEN THE NEXT IT COMPLETELY FELL OFF. WE WERE IN A PARKING LOT AND I WENT TO OPEN THE DOOR. I PULLED ON IT AND IT JUST POPPED RIGHT OFF. AS A RESULT IT SCRATCHED UP THE SIDE OF MY CAR VERY BADLY.
I HAD JUST TAKEN MY CHILDREN TO A WATER PARK. UPON RETURNING TO MY VEHICLE AT THE PARK'S CLOSING, I OPENED THE DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WITH NO PROBLEM. WHEN I TRIED TO CLOSE IT, IT WOULD NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY, AND WHEN I GAVE IT ANOTHER HARD PULL, IT CAME COMPLETELY OFF. THE CENTER SIDE ROLLER HAD COME COMPLETELY OFF TRACK. I WAS ABLE TO HOLD THE DOOR UP WITH SOME DIFFICULTY, BUT WAS UNABLE TO GET THE SIDE ROLLER BACK IN TRACK. THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE SIDE ROLLER APPARATUS FROM THE DOOR, GET THE UPPER ROLLER SOMEWHAT BACK ON TRACK, AND GET THE DOOR CLOSED. OTHERWISE, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED. AS HEAVY AS THAT DOOR WAS, IT COULD HAVE REALLY HURT MY CHILD IF IT HAD FALLEN INWARD ON HER, AND I WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT IT DID NOT HURT ME. VEHICLE WAS OBVIOUSLY STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT WHEN THIS OCCURRED.
AFTER DRIVING HOME IN A HEAVY RAIN STORM FOUND LARGE CHUNKS OF PAINT MISSING FROM THE HOOD AND ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. TOOK TO A PAINT SHOP WHO SAID IT IS PAINT FAILURE. CAN SEE PAINT BUBBLING UP NEXT TO THE PEELED AREAS.

THE TAILGATE STRUTS ON MY 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY FAILED ON 3/7/2016. WHEN I OPEN THE LIFTGATE ON OUR VAN NOW, THE STRUTS THAT CAUSE THE LIFTGATE TO OPEN EASILY ARE NOT WORKING. THIS MEANS YOU HAVE TO RAISE THE TAILGATE MANUALLY AND USE A STICK OF SOME KIND TO KEEP THE TAILGATE OPEN. I FOUND THAT A RECALL WAS ISSUED AROUND 2012 FOR LIFTGATE PROBLEMS ON THE 2008-2009 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE INFORMATION I FOUND SAID THAT THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN FOR THIS RECALL HAS THE ID: #12V062000 MY ODYSSEY'S VIN NUMBER DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. SINCE I AM AFFECTED BY THE SAME PROBLEM IDENTIFIED IN THE RECALL, I'D LIKE FOR THE RECALL TO BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE MY VIN SO WE CAN BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIR. THE POWER LIFT GATE STRUTS (?) STOPPED WORKING CAUSING THE LIFT GATE TO COLLAPSE ON MY HEAD CAUSING A SMALL CUT. AFTER THEY STOPPED WORKING, THE LIFT GATE WOULD NOT POWER LIFT OR STAY OPEN UNLESS YOU MANUALLY HELD IT OPEN. MY 2005 ODYSSEY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT WAS FIXED WITH A RECALL.
REAR DOOR'S STRUTS DOES NOT WORK. THE HATCHBACK REAR DOOR SLAMS SHUT AND DOES NOT HOLD. THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING STRUT DEFECT IN 2012.
