The following referenced items have been in constant or recent trouble status: The two-sliding doors repeatedly have resisted closing for at least a year or more. They are eventually forced to close by manipulation of the track system (i.e. closing mechanism). This issue has repeatedly been brought to the attention of the service team at Clear Lake Honda, and diagnostic tests have been conducted but to no avail. This is definitely a safety hazard. Recently, the rear door refused to close and would not engage either manually or automatically when attempting to close. This issue has been brought to the attention of the service team at Clear Lake Honda as of this reporting.
HONDA ODYSSEY CREAKING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL.
WAS TRAVELING ROUGHLY 70 MPH ON HWY 45 JUST OUTSIDE OF BUCKATUNNA, MS WHEN 2 DEER WERE SEEN ON THE MEDIAN OF THE HWY A SHORT DISTANCE AWAY. AS SOON AS THEY WERE SEEN, THE DEER SAW OUR HEADLIGHTS AND JUMPED INTO OUR LANE OF TRAVEL HITTING THE DRIVERS FRONT CORNER DAMAGING THE BUMPER, GRILL, HEADLIGHT, AND LEFT FRONT PANEL. WHAT'S CONCERNING IS EVEN THOUGH THE IMPACT WAS ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND 99% OF DAMAGE TO DRIVERS SIDE, ONLY THE FRONT PASSENGER'S AIRBAG DEPLOYED, NOT THE DRIVER SIDE.
Sliding doors on both sides will not close reliably. When closing the sliding doors, the door slides along the track smoothly initially but when it is close to shutting anywhere from 2 feet to a couple inches (usually within inches of closing) the moving door studders its motion, or hesitates and then the door opens again. This has been ongoing for a couple years and although it is intermittent, it has become worse over time. There are only two reliable ways to close the sliding doors. One is to lean heavily on the sliding door at the end of the closing cycle and the other is to drive the vehicle either forward or in reverse while the door is near the end of closing. This poses an obvious safety hazard. We have had a local mechanic look at it but it was not reproducible and seems to be better when the whether is fair so she did not find a solution. We just took it to Marion Honda in Southern Illinois and they cleaned the tracks without charging us and thought it had resolved the problem but it did nothing to help. Problem persists

I WAS IN THE BACK SEAT ATTEMPTING TO PULL THE SEAT BELT FORWARD AROUND ME WHEN THE DOOR WAS CLOSING AND CLOSED ON MY HAND. THERE WAS NO SENSOR THAT OPENED THE DOOR AND MY FINGERS WERE PINCHED IN THE DOOR WHEN MY HUSBAND IMMEDIATELY OPENED THE DOOR, AS I WAS YELLING IN PAIN. MY FINGERS WERE SWOLLEN FOR A FEW DAYS, AND THEY WERE SORE FOR ABOUT A MONTH. THEY SEEM OK BUT IF I HAVE ANY FURTHER PAIN OR STIFFNESS, I WILL SEE A DOCTOR. OUR CONCERN WAS, IF THERE WAS A CHILD OR PET, THEY COULD EASILY GET THEIR DIGITS CAUGHT IN THE TRACK WHILE THE DOOR IS CLOSING IF THERE IS NO SAFETY SENSOR INSTALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG DID DEPLOY, BUT THE THE FRONT DRIVER AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT STATED NO ONE SUSTAINED ANY INJURIES OR SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 215,000.
I WAS DRIVING/EXITING A PARKING GARAGE ONTO A STREET INTO TRAFFIC. SUDDENLY, THE PANEL LIGHTS AND AND CABIN LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND THE RADIO AND AC CUT OFF, AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER, THE CAR CUT OFF AND I COASTED, THROUGH CARS MOVING AT SPEED, TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP THEY TOOK A FEW DAYS TO CONTACT ME, THEN TOLD ME I NEED TO PAY $800 FOR A BATTERY CABLE BEFORE THEY DIAGNOSE ANY ISSUES WITH THE ALTERNATOR.
POPPING IN THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN TURNING WHEEL BACK; MORE COMON AT LOWER SPEEDS.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, A CAR PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME SO I HAD TO QUICKLY HIT MY BREAKS TO AVOID A CAR ACCIDENT WITH THE OTHER CAR BUT IN THE PROCESS THE 2ND ROW PASSENGER SEAT THAT IS DIRECTLY BEHIND THE DRIVER SEAT AUTOMATICALLY FLIPPED DOWN THEN FLEW FORWARD RAMMING THE BACK OF MY SEAT AND MY BACK VERY HARD. LUCKILY MY SON WAS SITTING ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE VAN AND WAS NOT SITTING IN THAT SEAT. BUT THE SEAT KEPT SLAMMING BACK AND FORTH INTO MY BACK UNTIL I COULD SAFELY PULL OVER TO LATCH THE SEAT BACK INTO PLACE. I HAVE TRIED CALLING MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP TO SEE ABOUT HAVING MY SEATS CHECKED OUT BECAUSE I'VE BEEN SCARED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AFTER THE INCIDENT BUT THEY TOLD ME THEY CANNOT HELP ME. ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THERE IS NOT JUST ONE BUT TWO RECALLS ON THE 2ND PASSENGER ROW OF MY HONDA ODYSSEY. SO I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK WITH THE NEW INFORMATION ON THE RECALLS, BUT I WAS TOLD THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THE ISSUES WITH MY SEATS. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE BUT MY LOWER BACK HAS BEEN HURTING EVER SINCE THE INCIDENT HAPPENED BUT IM WORRIED IF I KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THE SEAT SHOULD UNLOCK AGAIN THEN IT COULD SERIOUSLY INJURE ME/MY BACK EVEN MORE OR WORSE CAUSE ME TO WRECK.
MY VIN DOES NOT APPEAR FOR A PISTON RING RECALL ON 2011-2013 HONDA ODYSSEYS. SPECIFICALLY, THE PISTON RINGS IN CERTAIN CYLINDERS ROTATE AND ALIGN, LEADING TO ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION AND SPARK PLUG FOULING. I WOULD LIKE MY VIN ADDED TO THIS RECALL.
THIS VEHICLE HAD ISSUE ON ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THIS VEHICLE IS ABOUT 100K MILES AND HAD BEEN CHANING 3 BATTERIES AND IT MEAN THAT 4HT BATERRY INSTALLED ON THIS VEHICLE. LUCAS HONDA DEALER CHANGED THREE TIMES PLUS ORIGINAL BATTERY. AS PER SPOKEN TO LUCAS HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR THE BATTERY PROBLEM. CUSTOMER SAID; "THERE IS NORMAL". I DID NOT BRING THIS VEHICLE FOR THIRD TIMES BECAUSE I THINK I WILL HEAR SAME AS IT "NORMAL". I HAVE YOUNG KID AND I HOPE THIS VEHICLE WILL NOT BREAK DOWN ON INTERSTATE OR MOUNTAIN, OR MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I WOULD LIKE YOUR ADVICE SO THE ISSUE SHOULD BE FIX.
WHEN AT A STOP WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE STARTS REVVING. THE TACH WENT UP TO 6000 RPM AND CAR TRIED TO PUSH FORWARD ON CITY STREETS. THIS HAPPENED AT LEAST 8 TIMES IN FEB/MARCH 2019. ON MARCH 9, I CALLED THE DEALER, BRILLIANCE HONDA OF CRYSTAL LAKE. THEY SAID I COULD COME IN MONDAY 3/11. THEY TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND AN ISSUE. I TOLD THEM THAT APPARENTLY THEY WOULDN'T FIX A PROBLEM UNTIL AN ACCIDENT HURTS OR KILLS ME OR A PASSENGER OR CAR HIT BY MY OUT OF CONTROL CAR. INTERNET SHOWS CARS HAVING OUT OF CONTROL ACCELERATION ISSUES IN THE PAST. CAN YOUR AGENCY INTERCEDE FOR ME?
WHEN BRAKING AT HIGH SPEEDS OR GOING DOWN HILL GET VIBRATION THROUGH STEERING WHEEL MAKING IT HARD TO CONTROL VEHICLE, LITERALLY SHAKES WHOLE CAR
DRIVER-SIDE AND PASSENGER-SIDE DOORS ELECTRIC POWERED DOOR CABLE SNAPPED WHILE DOORS WERE OPENING TRAPPING OCCUPANTS IN THE BACKSEAT. DOORS COULD NOT OPEN FULLY TO ALLOW EGRESS OUT OF THE VEHICLE. UNABLE TO OPEN DOORS MANUALLY DO TO WIRE STUCK IN PULLEY SYSTEM. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT THERES A NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. IT ONLY HAPPENS AT SLOW SPEEDS. IT FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS GOING TO FALL OFF.

THE ORANGE COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE AND PROVIDED PHONE NUMBER 321-313-0541 IN LIEU OF A REPORT NUMBER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2018, WE WERE OUR GRANDCHILDREN TO THE ZOO TRAVELING FROM THEIR HOME . WE WERE USING THEIR FAMILY'S 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE SIX YEAR OLD WAS ON A BOOSTER SEAT IN THE THIRD ROW OF SEATS. I HAD HELPED THE THREE YOUNGEST OUT OF THEIR SEATS AND GOTTEN THEM OUT OF THE CAR WHEN THE 6 YEAR OLD CALLED OUT THAT HE WAS STUCK IN HIS SEATBELT. IT WAS TWISTED AROUND HIM AND I COULDN'T SEEM TO FIND THE RELEASE BUTTON. WHEN I ASKED HIM HOW IT HAD GOTTEN THAT WAY, HE SAID HE LAID DOWN WHILE WEARING IT. HE SAID IT HURT AND SEEMED VERY TIGHT. MY HUSBAND LIFTED THE BACK DOOR THINKING HE COULD GET SOME SLACK FROM ABOVE. INSTEAD, THE UNTHINKABLE HAPPENED AND IT BECAME TIGHTER THAN EVER. WE HAD NO TIME TO ANALYZE THE BELT ANY LONGER; THAT WAS CLEAR. IF HE STAYED THAT WAY FOR LONGER THAN A FEW MINUTES, HE WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY HAD ORGAN DAMAGE DUE TO LACK OF BLOOD SUPPLY. I PUT THE FINGERS OF MY HAND BETWEEN THE METAL PART OF THE BELT AND HIS BODY WHILE MY HUSBAND SPRINTED TO THE ZOO OFFICE. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT THE TRAPPED GRANDSON REMAINED CALM AND DIDN'T THRASH AROUND OR THE OUTCOME WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE BEEN A WORSE ONE. MY HUSBAND SPRINTED BACK WITH TWO PAIRS OF SCISSORS. THE BELT WAS TOO TIGHT AT THE WAIST TO GIVE ME ANY ROOM TO WORK WITH THE SCISSORS. THEN MY HUSBAND CUT THE SEATBELT FROM ABOVE JUST BELOW WHERE THE BELT ENTERED THE CEILING AND OUR GRANDSON WAS SUDDENLY FREED.
CLUNKING SOUND WHEN TURNING. SOMETHING APPEARS TO BE LOOSE.

THE DOOR ALSO COULD NOT BE CLOSED MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (NAPLETON HONDA, 17220 TORRENCE AVE, LANCING, IL 60438), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
THE SLIDING DOOR ON PASSENGER SIDE IT IS AN AUTOMATIC OPERATING DOOR. DOESN'T OPEN OR CLOSE IN PROPER WAY FOR MOST OF THE TIME. IT IS TRYING BUT IT GET STUCK AND REVERSED BACK. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT, I CAN'T BRING IT TO THE DEALER IT WILL BE A LOT OF LABOR. THAN YOU!!
I WAS GOING TO PACK THE CAR (STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY) ON SAT JULY 7TH FOR A FAMILY REUNION WHEN I PRESSED THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR BUTTON ON MY KEY FOB. WHILE WALKING TO MY 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY I HEARD THE NOISE OF THE DOOR OPENING BUT THE DOOR REMAINED SHUT. WHILE NEXT TO THE CAR AND WITHOUT TOUCHING THE HANDLE I HIT THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR BUTTON AGAIN, AND AGAIN JUST THE NOISE OF THE DOOR OPENING/CLOSING COULD BE HEARD BUT THE ACTUAL DOOR REMAINED SHUT. I LOOKED UP INTO THE TRACK AND DIDN'T SEE THE CABLE, LOOKING CLOSER AT THE CAR I NOTICED THAT THE CABLE WAS ACTUALLY DANGLING DOWN THE EDGE OF THE SLIDING DOOR. THE CABLE HAD SNAPPED OFF. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT DELLA HONDA IN PLATTSBURGH, NY BEING WORKED ON.
THE ORIGINAL FACTORY FRONT BRAKE ROTORS IN THIS VEHICLE (AND ALL OTHERS OF THE SAME MODEL YEAR) DO NOT COOL ADEQUATELY UNDER NORMAL USE, WHICH CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE DRAMATICALLY WHEN BRAKING. TWO SEPARATE DEALERS CLAIM THAT IS IS "NOT A SAFETY HAZARD," BUT THE VIBRATION WAS SO BAD THAT NORMAL DRIVERS OF THIS VEHICLE FEARED FOR LOSS OF CONTROL AND/OR POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE BRAKE SYSTEM. A REDESIGNED BRAKE ROTOR IS AVAILABLE FROM THE MANUFACTURER, ALTHOUGH, IN SPITE OF THE OBVIOUS CORRECTION OF A PRIOR DESIGN DEFECT, THE NEW ROTORS ARE NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY PROVISION FOR REPLACEMENT. WE HAVE REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS AT A COST OF $755.18. IN THE OPINION OF THIS WRITER, EVERY ODYSSEY OWNER FOR THIS MODEL YEAR OUGHT TO DO THE SAME. GENERAL ONLINE CONSENSUS ON THIS ISSUE APPEARS TO COVER OTHER MODEL YEARS AS WELL AND SUPPORTS THIS DIAGNOSIS AND ITS RESOLUTION IN THIS MANNER. PHOTOS INCLUDE BOTH OLD AND NEW BRAKE ROTORS. THE REDESIGNED ROTORS HAVE VENTS AROUND A MUCH LARGER HUB, UNLIKE THE ORIGINAL ONES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (BOB LINDSAY HONDA, 900 W PIONEER PKWY, PEORIA, IL 61615) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. **TR *TR
FREQUENT CHECK ENGINE SIGN COMING ON, MECHANIC SAID EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, OIL BURING OFF, ALTHOUGH HONDA HAS REACHED A SETTLEMENT WITH OWNERS OF ODYSSEY FROM 2008-2013 REGARDING THIS ISSUE, WHEN I CALLED WITH THE COMPLAINT THEY ARE SAYING MY 2012 ODYSSEY IS NOT ON THE LIST OF CARS WITH THIS PROBLEM. BUT MY CAR IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS OTHER OWNERS WERE HAVING.
GOT THE P3400 AND/OR THE P3497 ERROR CODES AFTER ENGINE AND FOUND MY OIL WAS AT ALMOST NOTHING. OIL LIGHT NEVER WENT ON. HAVE ALSO HAD TO CHANGE MY SPARK PLUGS TWICE IN TWO YEARS. I AM SO GLAD MY CAR DID NOT SEIZE UP ON ME. HAD TO ADD 3 QUARTS OF OIL AND GOT MY OIL CHANGED TWO MONTHS AGO.
IN A STORE PARKING LOT, THE MINIVAN WAS SHUT OFF AND PARKED, MY HUSBAND TOOK THE KEYS AND LOCKED ME IN THE MINIVAN, NOT KNOWING I WOULD HAVE NO WAY OUT OF THE MINIVAN. I WAITED IN THE MINIVAN PERHAPS 10 MINUTES. THEN, I TRIED TO LEAVE THROUGH THE PASSENGER DOOR. THE DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK, BOTH MANUALLY MOVING THE UNLOCK SWITCH NOR HITTING THE UNLOCK BUTTON. INSTEAD THE CAR ALARM WENT OFF. I THEN TRIED TO LOWER THE POWER WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER DOOR, BUT IT DID NOT WORK. I THEN TRIED TO EXIT THE DRIVER DOOR. IT WAS LOCKED. THE MANUAL SWITCH AND AUTOMATIC DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON WOULD NOT WORK. I TRIED TO OPEN THE DRIVER WINDOW THROUGH THE POWER CONTROL BUTTON AND IT DID NOT OPEN. I TRIED TO OPEN THE POWER SUNROOF. IT DID NOT OPEN. I HIT THE OPEN TRUNK BUTTON, IT DID NOT OPEN. I TRIED THE SIDE SLIDING DOORS AND THEY DID NOT UNLOCK. I MADE SURE THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK WAS OFF AND RETRIED ALL OF THE AFOREMENTIONED ITEMS AND NOTHING UNLOCKED. I WAS TRAPPED IN MY MINIVAN ON A WARM DAY. I WAS SWEATING. I CHECKED THE OWNERS MANUAL AND TRIED EVERYTHING IN IT, BUT NONE OF IT WORKED. THE MINIVAN CAR ALARM REMAINED ON FOR A FEW MINUTES AND NO ONE WOULD HELP WALKING BY, PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE CAR ALARM. AFTER ANOTHER FEW MINUTES, SOMEONE CAME TO THE MINIVAN AND I ASKED THEM FOR HELP AS BEST I COULD. THEY GAVE A DESCRIPTION OF MY MINIVAN/PLATE TO THE NEARBY STORE AND THEY FOUND MY HUSBAND OVER THE STORE INTERCOM. HE CAME OUT AND UNLOCKED ME WITH THE KEYS. I WAS TRAPPED IN THE MINIVAN FOR AROUND 20 MINUTES ALTOGETHER. IF NO ONE WOULD HAVE LUCKILY WALKED BY, I WOULD HAVE BEEN TRAPPED LONGER. I AM SCARED MY KIDS COULD GET TRAPPED IN THE MINIVAN OR I COULD GET TRAPPED AGAIN.
The contact owns a 2012 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was jerking. The check emissions and check VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) warning lights illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the piston rings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
PASSENGER SIDE REAR SEAT IS EJECTING FROM THE FLOOR BOARD AND IS RECLINING ON IT'S OWN WHEN BREAKING OR GOING FORWARD. BOTH ON CITY & HIGHWAY. THE SEAT CAME OFF THE FLOOR BOARD BRACKETS WHICH ARE SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS . ALSO IN ONE PHOTO YOU WILL SEE THE SPACE BETWEEN THE SEAT AND THE SMALLER SEAT IN THE MIDDLE HOW FAR IT CAME OFF THE BRACKETS.
PURCHASED A WHOLE SET OF MICHELIN PRIMACY MXV4 TIRES ON 10/13/2016, WITH ODOMETER 54993. DURING THE SERVICE ON 04/18/2018, WITH ODOMETER 79700, I WAS INFORMED TWO FRONT TIRES MEASURE BELOW 2/32NDS OF AN INCH, AND THE TIRES NEED TO BE REPLACED.

HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED THREE TIMES DUE TO VAN WANTING TO ACCELERATE WHILE FOOT OFF THE GAS WHILE STOPPED. ONLY SHUTTING THE VAN OFF KEPT THE VAN FROM REVVING UNCONTROLLABLY. WE HAVE BEEN VERY FORTUNATE NOT TO HAVE BEEN IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. EACH TIME AMERICA HONDA SAID THERE WERE NO ISSUES FOUND, OR THAT ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED. EVEN WHEN WE TOOK IT BACK AND TOLD THEM IT DIDN'T FEEL LIKE IT WAS RUNNING THE SAME, THEY SAID NO ISSUES FOUND. THIS VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, ONLY BECAUSE MY WIFE WAS QUICK ENOUGH TO ADDRESS THE CAR WANTING TO LURCH FORWARD. THIS HAPPENED ON COUNTY, AND CITY ROADS. WE FEEL THAT THIS VERY MAJOR PROBLEM, IS BEING MINIMIZED BY HONDA. THIS ISSUE STARTED WITH LESS THAN 46,000 MILES, AND VERY FEW MILES IN BETWEEN EACH FLARE UP. WE HAVE JUST BEEN TOLD IT WAS FIXED AGAIN, AND ARE SCARED TO IMAGINE WHERE MY WIFE WILL BE THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS. THE BACK SEAT INVOLUNTARILY MOVES FORWARD WHILE DRIVING.
THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR GOT DETACHED, THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE MIDDLE ROLLER BROKE BUT THE DOOR SHOULD HAVE NOT DETACHED FROM THE CAR. I WAS NOT EXPECTING A HEAVY DOOR TO FALL OFF AND I INJURED MY BACK A LITTLE. THIS IS THE WAY THINGS HAPPENED. AROUND 4:40 PM, THE SIDE SLIDING DOOR DID NOT CLOSED CORRECTLY, STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE AND OPEN AGAIN. TRIED FOR ABOUT 1/2 HOUR BUT COULD NOT CLOSE THE DOOR. -5:20 PM, MY WIFE AND I DECIDED TO DRIVE WITH THE DOOR HALF OPEN TO OUR HOME AND DROP THE KIDS -5:40 PM WE REMOVED THE CAR SEATS TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. -6:15 PM ARRIVED A THE DEALERSHIP BUT SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED. THEY RECOMMENDED TO TRY TO CLOSE IT MANUALLY. 7:00 PM GOT BACK HOME AND ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR, THE DOOR FELL ON ME. FOLLOWING DAY AT 8:30 AM, TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP, WHILE MOVING THE DOOR FELL OFF AGAIN, I ATTACHED IT AND USED PASSENGER SEAT BELT TO HOLD IT. 9:00 AM ARRIVED AT DEALERSHIP. 12:56 PM DEALERSHIP CALLED TO INDICATE THE MIDDLE ROLLER BROKE. I ASKED IF THE DOOR SHOULD HAVE FALL OF AND SERVICE AGENT SAID IT SHOULD HAVE NOT.
MY 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY WAS STATIONARY IN MY 2 CAR GARAGE THE MORNING OF JAN 10TH 2018. I WAS WITH MY 3 TODDLERS, GETTING READY TO PACK THEM UP IN THE VAN WHEN I PRESSED THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR BUTTON ON MY KEY FOB. IMMEDIATELY AFTER I PRESSED THE BUTTON I HEARD A LOUD POP NOISE AND SCRATCHING. I HELD MY KIDS BACK AND CALLED FOR MY WIFE TO BRING THEM INSIDE. IN THE TIME I TURNED TO GET THE KIDS OUT OF THE GARAGE THE SLIDING DOOR HAD SCRATCHED THE SIDE DOOR PANEL AND THEN THE DOOR POPPED OFF THE CAR AND HIT MY GARAGE WALL, IT WAS HANGING AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS HOLDING THE DOOR FROM FALLING COMPLETELY FALLING OFF THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY WAS THE MIDDLE CABLE AND THE BOTTOM ROLLER.
AFTER STOPPING THE CAR HAS TRIED TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN WHILE THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. SIX TIMES SINCE PURCHASE, FOUR TIMES THIS YEAR. I HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM TWICE TO HONDA SERVICE AS IT OCCURED TWICE ON THE WAY THERE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE CAR WAS DEFINITELY STOPPED AT BUSY INTERSECTIONSA AND TURNING IT OFF DID NOT STOP THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY. IT REQUIRED TWO OR THREE ON AND OFFS IN BUSY TRAFFICE. HAVE TRIED TO VIDEOTAPE PROBLEM BUT TRAFFIC HAS SPOOKED MY ABILITY AND CONCERN THAT ENGINE WOULD BLOW, SO LOUD IS THE REARING UP. ONLY AFFIRMATION IS MY WIFE AS AN EYEWITNESS ONCE, AND TWO REPAIR BILLS THAT SHOW REPORT OF PROBLEM IN 2017. ONE IN MAY AND ONE IN NOVEMBER. SERVICE SAYS COMPUTER SHOULD CONFIRM PROBLEMS AND THAT IT IS HONDA, NOT HONDA DEALERS ULTIMATE PROBLEM.
THERE IS A RECALL FOR SECOND ROW BUT IT IS THIRD ROW THAT DOES NOT CLAMP DOWN AND IS LOSE. IT TOOK ME 2 HOURS TO WIGGLE INTO CLAMP POSITION AS IT WAS NOT SAFE. IF I UNCLAMP, IT WILL NOT CLAMP AGAIN.
THE VAN HAS ABOUT 38000 MILES. THE THIRD ROW SEAT DOES NOT HOOK IN CLAMP AND IS LOSE. IT IS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS STATIONARY POSITION.
DRIVERS SIDE HEATED SEATED NO LONGER WORKS. IT IS LIKELY A CONTINUITY ISSUE WITH HEATING ELEMENT IN SEAT BACK WIRE BREAKING. ONLINE FORUMS SUGGEST A WIDESPREAD ISSUE YET HONDA FAILS TO RECALL. DEALERS WANT $500-700 TO REPAIR.
MY SON WAS STUCK IN THE DRIVER SIDE 3RD ROW SEAT BELT. WE WERE STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT. THE SEATBELT DID NOT GIVE OR TO RELEASE TO ALLOW US TO LOOSEN THE STRAP ACROSS HIS LAP. THE SEATBELT KEPT LOCKING AND TIGHTING ON HIS STOMACH. WE HAD TO CUT THE SEATBELT TO RELEASE HIM.
DRIVER'S SIDE HEATED SEAT NO LONGER FUNCTIONS. ONLINE FORUMS SUGGEST THAT IT IS A CONTINUITY ISSUE IN THE SEAT. THE HEATING WIRE HAS BROKEN SOMEWHERE NO LONGER CREATING A CLOSED CIRCUIT. LOCAL HONDA DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES THE ISSUE BUT WANTS TO CHARGE $600+ TO FIX.
2012 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING ELITE, GARAGE KEPT W/ 63K MILES, PEELING PAINT BETWEEN WINDSHIELD AND MOONROOF. HONDA MALL OF GEORGIA NOR HONDA CORPORATION WILL REPAIR PAINT DEFECT. I'VE HAD CLEAR COAT ISSUES ON A BLACK ACCORD V6 COUPE IN THE PAST AND WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER HONDA UNTIL THEY RESOLVE THE PAINT ISSUES.
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON OCTOBER 21, 2017, WE WERE HEADING TO CABELAS AN OUTDOOR SPORTING GOODS STORE. I WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY STOP SIGNS AND DID NOT NOTICE THE CAR COMING FROM THE LEFT OF ME. BY THE TIME I DID NOTICE I SLAMMED MY BREAKS BUT IT WAS TOO LATE. THE AIRBAGS FOR THIS VAN DID NOT DEPLOY BUT THE LIGHT INDICATOR WAS ON FOR AIRBAGS BEING DEPLOYED. ALSO, THE FRONT SEAT BELTS BECAME LOCKED AFTER THE COLLISION. I WAS LEFT WONDERING WHY MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE MY VAN HOME BUT SHOULD HAVE NOT DONE SO SINCE THE SEATS WERE LOCKED.
VERY VIOLENT VIBRATION WHEN BRAKES APPLIED EVEN AT RELATIVELY SLOW SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY GOING DOWNHILL. VEHICLE BECOMES HARD TO CONTROL. HIGH SAFETY CONCERN CONSIDERING IT IS A FAMILY VEHICLE AND CHILDREN ARE OFTEN PRESENT IN THE CAR. DEALERSHIPS AND HONDA US DO NOT COOPERATE ON THE ISSUE. THEY SOLUTION IS TO RE SURFACE FONT BRAKE ROTORS OR REPLACE THEM WITH NEWER VERSION. THE FACT THAT THERE IS A NEWER IMPROVED VERSION OF ROTORS IS AN ADMISSION BY HONDA THAT ORIGINAL BRAKE ROTORS ARE EITHER DEFECTIVE OR HAVE DESIGN FLAW. I HOPE NHTSA ACTS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED IN THE CRASH.
I WAS IN A FRONT END COLLISION. MODERATE ACCIDENT, GOING APPROX 35 MPH HITTING ANOTHER CAR WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO SPIN THE CAR THAT I HIT. MY FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I STOPPED AT A T-INTERSECTION AND TURNED RIGHT. AS SOON AS I MADE THE TURN, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN SHIFTING ODDLY. IT WAS GOING TO VERY HIGH RPMS BEFORE IT WOULD SHIFT. I IMMEDIATELY CHECKED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE, BUT THE ENGINE WAS NOT OVERHEATING. WE WERE ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD SO I BEGAN LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO PULL OVER. I CHECKED MY REAR VIEW MIRROR AND SAW THE CAR BEHIND ME FLASHING THEIR LIGHTS AND HONKING THEIR HORN. AT THAT POINT I NOTICED SMOKE IN THE REAR VIEW. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE CAR AND AS SOON AS I DID, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WENT UP IN FLAMES. MY PREGNANT WIFE AND I GOT OUR THREE LITTLE CHILDREN OUT OF THE CAR EXTREMELY QUICKLY AND THEY GOT BACK DOWN THE ROAD A WAYS TO GET AWAY FROM THE BURNING VEHICLE. I BEGAN THROWING CAR SEATS AND OTHER THINGS OUT OF THE CAR AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, BUT WITHIN TWO MINUTES AFTER I STOPPED THE CAR, THE FLAMES WERE TO BIG TO BE ANYWHERE NEAR IT. THE CAR BURNED EXTREMELY FAST AND THE FIRE WAS EXTREMELY HOT, COMPLETELY DESTROYING THE CAR.
I WAS WASHING THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I LIFTED UP THE W/S WIPER ELEMENT SUPERSTRUCTURE AND THE WIPER ARM DISLODGED AND SMACKED AND CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD UPON IMPACT. THE WIPERS (BOTH SIDES) OPERATED NORMALLY AND WE HAD JUST RETURNED FROM A VERY RAINY VACATION. THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF ANY ABNORMAL OPERATIONS NOR INSTALLATIONS. I BELIEVE WIPER SUPERSTRUCTURES ARE SUPPOSED TO STAY INSTALLED ONTO THE WIPER ARMS UNTIL CERTAIN PROCEDURES ARE COMPLETED TO DISASSEMBLE, ONE OF WHICH SHOULD NOT BE LIFTING UP FROM THE WINDSHIELD TO AID CLEANING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN OUR DRIVEWAY GETTING WASHED.
THE WINDOW MOLDING/TRIM IN OUR VAN HAS STARTED DETERIORATING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE WINDOWS. IT IS HIGHLY UNUSALLY FOR THIS TO HAPPEN, DESPITE THE AGE OF THE VEHICIAL. PLEASE CHECK THE PHOTOS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. HERITAGE HONDA WESTMINSTER (580 BALTIMORE BLVD, WESTMINSTER, MD) WAS CONTACTED AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE SHORT BLOCK AND PISTONS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO HERITAGE HONDA WESTMINSTER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 171,332.
I WENT TO A CAR WASH ON 8/9/2017 WITH ATTENDANTS. WHEN THE CAR CAME OUT TO BE BUFFED THE EMPLOYEES PULLED THE CAR OVER TO BE INSPECTED. THEY SAID THE SUN/MOON ROOF HAD SHATTERED. AFTER MUCH DISCUSSION AS TO ANY PROBLEMS SUCH AS ROCKS OR OTHER INJURIES I CALLED MY DEALER WHICH WAS NEARBY. I DROVE IT THERE AFTER THE HOLE IN THE ROOF WAS SOMEWHAT SECURED BY PLASTIC AND TAPE. THE DEALERSHIP MADE NO MENTION OF OTHER PROBLEMS OF A SUN ROOF. THEY SAID THEY COULD FIX IT. I ORDERED A NEW SUN ROOF WHICH IS TO BE DELIVERED TOMORROW. I WAS NOT MADE AWARE THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN OTHER CARS WITH SUN ROOFS UNTIL SEARCHING THE INTERNET THE NEXT DAY. HOLE IS TAPED NOW SO WILL GET PICTURES WHEN I GET TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW, 8/11/2017.
