ROTORS BEGAN TO PREMATURELY WARP AT ABOUT 20K MILES. DEALER RESURFACED THE ROTORS AS A COURTESY SERVICE. WARPING PROBLEM RE-APPEARED AT APPROXIMATELY 30K. WARPED ROTORS CAUSED SEVERE VIBRATIONS THROUGH STEERING COLUMN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS MAKING FOR UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. HONDA TECH MENTIONED THAT HONDA USED ROTORS WITH A SOFTER MATERIAL IN AN EFFORT TO REDUCE SQUEALING PROBLEM ON PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS. HOWEVER, THIS RESULTED IN WARPING PROBLEMS ON NEWER MODELS AS CAR IS HEAVIER AND THESE ROTORS ARE NOT SUFFICIENT IN STOPPING THE VEHICLES WITHOUT CAUSING SIGNIFICANT WEAR. AT 55K MILES, I DECIDED TO REPLACE ROTORS WITH A THIRD PARTY SINCE HONDA REFUSED TO STAND BEHIND THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND REPLACE MY ROTORS EVEN THOUGH I HAD REPORTED THE PROBLEM WELL BEFORE THE STANDARD FACTORY WARRANTY PERIOD OF 3 YEARS / 36K MILES. TECHNICIAN ALSO DISCOVERED CRACKED COMPLIANCE BUSHINGS ON FRONT END.
HONDA PILOT HEADREST IS CANTED TOO FAR FORWARD. A PERSON WEARING THEIR HAIR IN A BUN, PONYTAIL OR CLIP CANNOT FIT SAFELY IN THE SEAT WITH THE HEAD REST IN PLACE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT BECAUSE THE MOST TEMPTING SOLUTION IS TO RAISE THE HEADREST TO AN UNSAFE HEIGHT OR TO REMOVE IT COMPLETELY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA PILOT. WHILE STOPPED AT A DRIVE THRU WINDOW, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE POLICE ARRIVED ON THE SCENE AND AS THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE A SECOND TIME, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED YET AGAIN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIANS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I MAKE REFERENCE TO 2011 HONDA PILOT RECALL FROM NHTSA: 10V640000 OF 12/16/2010. SINCE I BOUGHT A SIMILAR VEHICLE ON 12/11/2010, I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT IF MY CAR IS INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. I WROTE TO THE MANUFACTURER ADDRESS IN CALIFORNIA SEVERAL WEEKS AGO REQUESTING INFORMATION ABOUT THIS MATTER AND AS OF THIS DATE, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN ANSWER. *TR THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE THREE WEEKS FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED MORE THAN 60 DAYS HAS PASSED, REGARDING THE AIR BAG ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 87 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AFTER EXHIBITING A LOUD POPPING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BUT THEY COULD NOT CONFIRM THAT IT WAS THE ACTUAL CAUSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 9,800.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR WINDOW ON THE HATCH EXPLODED AS SHE ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THE EXPLODING GLASS CAUSED THE CONTACT TO SUSTAIN CUTS AND LACERATIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE WINDOW WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DONE TO MAKE SURE THE WINDOW DID NOT EXPLODE AGAIN. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS A SITUATION FOR THE DEALER TO HANDLE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE MANUFACTURES DEFECT AND SAFETY ISSUE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET AT 60 MPH. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE TO DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO 80 MPH. THE CANCEL BUTTON WAS ALSO DEPRESSED, BUT VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD RETURN THE CONTACT'S CALL AT A LATER DATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,175.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS CONSUMING OIL EXCESSIVELY AND SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHORT BLOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC DOORS WERE LOCKED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. THE VEHCILE CAME TO A STOP AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR UNLOCKED UNINTENDEDLY. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE INTERIOR DOOR FAILED TO UNLOCK UNLESS DONE MANUALLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SPONTANEOUSLY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER DRIVING OVER A SPEED BUMP, A LOUD NOISE WOULD EMIT FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE, WHICH SOUNDED AS THOUGH THE CHASSIS DETACHED FROM THE FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
CAR HAS HAD ISSUES WITH SHAKING STEERING WHEEL WHEN BRAKING FROM 60+ MILES PER HOUR. I THINK IT MAY BE WARPED BRAKE ROTORS. HOWEVER, THIS PROBLEM SHOULD NOT OCCUR ON A CAR SO NEW NOR WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. I HAVE A SAFETY CONCERN REGARDING THIS ISSUE. IN REVIEW OF COMPLAINTS THERE WERE AT LEAST A COUPLE MORE COMPLAINTS THAT SAID THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND RACK REPLACEMENT FIXED THE ISSUE. SEEMS LIKE THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW AND HONDA SHOULD DO A RECALL... NOTE: I HAVE NOT TAKEN THIS CAR TO THE DEALER YET FOR RESOLUTION... *TR
DRIVING THE CAR AT A SPEED OF 35-40MPH AND 45-50MPH THERE IS A SHUDDERING AND VIBRATION FEELING COMING FROM THE DRIVETRAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND I ASKED FOR A TECH TO TAKE A TEST RIDE WITH ME AND THEY SAID NO ONE WAS AVAILABLE. I LEFT THE CAR WITH THEM. THE TECH CALLED ME LATER AND SAID THEY DID NOT NOTICE THE VIBRATION AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. UPON RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, IT APPEARS IT IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM AND HONDA IS DOING NOTHING TO ADDRESS THIS. THE VIBRATION IS VERY NOTICEABLE AND IT IS GETTING WORSE. STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES WHEN BRAKING AT OR NEAR 65 MPH, LOSS OF CONTROL. *TR
HONDA PILOT EX-L. DRIVER SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER SEATS ARE EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE AFTER MORE THAN A 5 MINUTE RIDE. SUSPECT THIS IS DUE TO FAULTY LUMBAR-SUPPORT DESIGN, PLACEMENT AND EXTREME FIRMNESS. UNSAFE AND UNHEALTHY. PAIN IS SO INTENSE THAT IT REMAINS AFTER DRIVER AND PASSENGER ARE NO LONGER IN THE CAR/SEAT. COULD POSE LONG-TERM HEALTH PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE THERE WAS SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE LUNGED OVER A CONCRETE BARRIER AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND FOLLOW UP WITH THE CONTACT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH THE HOOD BECAME AJAR AFTER HITTING A SMALL DIP IN THE ROAD AT THE END OF A BRIDGE. THE HOOK PREVENTED THE HOOD FROM OPENING THE ENTIRE WAY AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY AND CLOSE THE HOOD. TRIED PULLING IT OPEN AFTERWARDS AND WAS NOT ABLE TO.
THE MAXIMUM SPEED SETTING ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS IS COMPLETELY INSUFFICIENT WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY / INTERSTATE DURING PERIODS OF RAIN AND AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 45 MPH. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAINTAIN A REASONABLY UNOBSTRUCTED VIEW OF THE ROADWAY. WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEEDS, THE HIGH-SPEED SETTING OF THE WIPERS CAN KEEP UP WITH A MERE DRIZZLE ONLY. A STEADY RAIN CREATES NEARLY ZERO VISIBILITY, WHILE A THUNDERSTORM OR TORRENTIAL RAIN RENDERS THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. THE HIGH-SPEED WIPER SETTING ON THE 2011 HONDA PILOT IS COMPARABLE TO THE LOW SPEED WIPER SETTING ON THE MAJORITY OF OTHER VEHICLES CURRENTLY ON THE MARKET. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT J.L. FREED HONDA IN MONTGOMERYVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA INDICATES THAT THE WIPERS OPERATE AS DESIGNED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE WINDOW UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO ADVISED THAT THEY NEVER HEARD OF THE TYPE OF FAILURE BEFORE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500.
I DRIVE A 2011 HONDA PILOT. IT WAS PURCHASED NEW. ON THE MORNING OF JUNE 7, 2011, A FAMILY MEMBER DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE, WHICH WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY OF THE HOUSE, HAD A FLAT IN THE FRONT, DRIVER-SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED ON A FLAT BED AND TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. UPON INSPECTION, THE MECHANIC NOTED THAT THERE WAS A PUNCTURE TO THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE WHICH SHOULD NOT BE REPAIRED. A REPLACEMENT TIRE WAS PURCHASED AND THE OLD ONE WAS DISCARDED. I SPECULATED THAT ROAD HAZARD MAY HAVE CAUSED THE PUNCTURE, SO DID NOT THINK MUCH ABOUT FILING A COMPLAINT. THE TIRE HAD ABOUT 6,183 MILES ON IT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. ON THE EVENING OF JUNE 17, 2011, AS I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE (CONNECTING ROCKLAND AND WESTCHESTER COUNTIES) IN NEW YORK, THE TIRE WARNING INDICATOR WENT ON. UPON MY ARRIVAL AT HOME (ABOUT AN 8-MINUTE DRIVE FROM THE BRIDGE), I NOTICED A HISSING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR, DRIVER-SIDE TIRE AND IMMEDIATELY CONCLUDED THAT THE TIRE WAS DEFLATING. THE FOLLOWING MORNING THE TIRE WAS FLAT. AFTER INSTALLING THE SPARE, I TOOK THE TIRE TO A GOODYEAR DEALER. UPON INSPECTION, THE MECHANIC NOTED THAT THERE WAS A PUNCTURE TO THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE WHICH SHOULD NOT BE REPAIRED, WHICH WAS THE SAME ISSUE DISCOVERED WITH THE FRONT, DRIVER-SIDE TIRE. I REPLACED IT WITH A NEW TIRE. THE TIRE HAD APPROXIMATELY 6,500 MILES ON IT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THIS TIME I FILED A COMPLAINT SINCE IT WAS HIGHLY COINCIDENTAL THAT TWO TIRES WOULD FAIL WITHIN A 10-DAY PERIOD WITH THE SAME FACT PATTERN. I SUSPECT THAT THE VEHICLE CAME INSTALLED WITH AT LEAST TWO TIRES THAT HAD WEAK SIDEWALLS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR DIAGNOSTICS BUT THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR VIEW MIRROR BUILT IN CAMERA WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CAMERA WAS MISLEADING AND INDICATED THAT THE OBJECTS APPEARED FARTHER AWAY, BUT THEY WERE ACTUALLY VERY CLOSE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO AVOID CRASHING INTO A VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE CAMERA COULD BE REMOVED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,409.
BRAND NEW VEHICLE WHEN IT REACHES APROX THAT SPEED OR BRAKE THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES AND SHAKE VIOLENT AT BRAKING, ALSO PULLS TO THE LEFT. BRING BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT NOT PROBLEM SOLVE, THEY GOT A SERVICE BULLETIN 06-068 BUT IT DOESN'T CORRECT THE PROBLEM, I GOT UP TO 23,000 MILES AND THE TIRES BECAME CLOSE TO THE CARCASE (ALL FOUR), THE VIBRATION AND PULLING STILL. *TR
I BOUGHT 2011 HONDA PILOT EX-L RES AT THE END OF APRIL, 2011. I NOTICED THERE WAS A PINK COLOR OIL LEAK (3" SIZE) ON MY GARAGE FLOOR ON THE FIRST DAY AFTER ABOUT 60 MILE DRIVE. AFTER THEN, IT KEPT LEAKING EVERY TIME AFTER RUNNING THE CAR. I HAVE HONDA DEALER CHECKED IT YESTERDAY. I WAS TOLD THAT WAS THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK. I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I HEARD THIS. IT IS A BRAND NEW CAR AND TRANSMISSION OIL LEAKED AT THE FIRST DAY WHEN I DROVE FROM DEALER BACK TO HOME (~60 MILES). THE DEALER COULD NOT LOCATE WHERE EXACTLY THE LEAK COMES FROM AND WAITING FOR THE RESPONSE AND DECISION FROM HONDA CORP TO EITHER FIX IT REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. I SEARCHED AND KNEW THAT THERE ARE LOTS THE SAME ISSUES ON PILOT. THE MORE YOU DRIVE, THE WORSE THE PROBLEM IS EVEN AFTER REPAIRING IT. I WISH I KNEW THIS ISSUE BEFORE I BOUGHT THIS JUNK. *TR
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE 2011 HONDA PILOT MY WIFE COMPLAINED OF EYES AND THROAT IRRITATION WHEN TRAVELING IN THE CAR FOR A HALF HOUR OR LONGER. THERE IS NO ODOR. I DID NOT SEEM TO BE SENSITIVE TO THESE SYMPTOMS AT THIS TIME. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO BE CHECKED AND THEY FOUND NO LEAKS, ENGINE/HEATER/AIR CONDITIONING. PROBLEM CONTINUED YEAR ROUND WITH BOTH THE HEATER IN OPERATION AND/OR THE AIR CONDITIONING. OVER THE MONTHS AND YEARS MY WIFE CONTINUED TO COMPLAIN AND SUBSEQUENT VISITS TO THE DEALER RESULTED IN CHECKS FOR LEAKS (NONE FOUND) AND REPLACEMENTS OF CABIN FILTER BUT NO RESULTS. MY WIFE CONTINUED TO TOLERATE BY TURNING OF VENTS AND OPENING HER WINDOW OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS THE PROBLEM HAS MARKEDLY WORSENED AND IT BOTHERS ME NOW AS WELL AS MY FOUR GRAND CHILDREN WHO ARE FREQUENT PASSENGERS. EYES, NOSE, THROAT AND LIPS FEEL A BURNING SENSATION PLUS HEADACHES. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER YESTERDAY WITH THE SAME RESULT. I PURCHASED A NEW HONDA PILOT LX ON 26MARCH AND WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 01APRIL11, THE HOOD CAME AJAR/POPPED INADVERTENTLY, BUT THE HOOK CAUGHT IT SO IT DID NOT HIT THE WINDSHIELD. STEERING HAS FELT LOOSE FOR AS LONG AS I REMEMBER. TIRES WERE LASTING ONLY 15K MILES AND FRONT BRAKES GO BAD YEARLY. I HAVE A GOOD 1 TO 2 INCHES OF PLAY TURNING THE WHEEL TO BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT. I ASKED MULTIPLE MECHANICS TO TIGHTEN THE STEERING COLUMN DOWN INCLUDING HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT MECHANICS BUT THEY SAID IT COULDN'T BE DONE. WHEN I MOVED FARTHER AWAY FROM MY KIDS SCHOOL IN 2018 I HAD THE CAR INSPECTED BY HONDA FOR ANYTHING WRONG SINCE NOW MY KIDS WILL BE COMMUTING 25 MILES TO SCHOOL AND BACK IN IT. SERVICE TOLD ME MY BUSHINGS WERE BAD. MY CAR HAD ABOUT 40K MILES ON IT AT THAT TIME. ALSO AT THAT TIME NO ONE MENTIONED THAT THE PART WAS PREVIOUSLY ON AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OR THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SPINDLE NUTS THAT WEREN'T TIGHTENED DOWN CORRECTLY NOR DID I RECEIVE NOTIFICATION FROM HONDA REGARDING THOSE ISSUES. FROM WHAT I READ ONLINE ABOUT THESE PARTS IS THAT THEY ARE A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS YOU CAN LOSE CONTROL OF YOUR VEHICLE AT ANYTIME. I REALLY FEEL THAT THE BUSHINGS WENT BAD FROM THE FACT THAT THE SPINDLE NUTS WEREN'T TIGHTENED DOWN AND EVERYTHING HAS BEEN JIGGLING AROUND AND ADDING STRAIN TO THE REST OF THE SUSPENSION. I THINK THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE BUSHINGS WASN'T ENOUGH. HONDA NEEDS TO RECALL THOSE PARTS AS WELL. PLEASE ADVISE.
