The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a parts store where a handheld scanner retrieved DTC: P219B; which indicated a failure with the fuel injectors. The contact had scheduled an appointment for the vehicle to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) at a local dealer. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer where the fuel pump was replaced. The contact was informed by the dealer that poor quality fuel had caused the fuel injectors to fail. The dealer replaced the high-pressure fuel feed pipe and the injectors. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact related the failure of the fuel injectors to the fuel pump replacement under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The failure mileage was 60,400.
On Feb 17th I was on a 4.5 hour trip. I wasn’t experiencing any issues with my vehicle until the last 20 min of the trip. I exited the highway to refill with gas before the final leg home. I pulled into the gas station, shut off my pilot, and refueled. Upon restarting my vehicle the vehicle wouldn’t start. After several failed attempts I needed to jump start the vehicle to get it started. Once it started I didn’t have another issue. I took my vehicle in for testing and found no issues with the battery or starter. This was the second occurrence so I purchased a portable battery charger for when this happens again.
six months ago, I reached out due to an extreme concern regarding my safety and wellbeing regarding a 2019 Honda Pilot that I purchased from Carmax in Newark, DE. I purchased the car on January 10th and on January 29th there were issues with driving the vehicle. The car began to jolt and shake and the check engine light came on. I contacted the warranty company and was told that since it was within 30 days I would have to contact Carmax directly. I contacted the dealership and had the car towed to Carmax. On February 3rd I heard back from the dealership with a diagnostic test result. At that time, I was told by the service representative that the car had a transmission switch that had to be fixed. I was later told that when they fixed the switch it didn’t resolve. On February 5th I was then told it was the fuel injector, and they were going to do an engine flush. The car was not fixed until February 13th.I was given the run around with the service representative and the manager on duty regarding my concern with the vehicle and its safety. I asked if I could change this car for a different car because I do believe that it was unsafe. I was inevitably told since it was a used car that “these things happen” and any work done on the vehicle is covered under warranty for at least one year. I mentioned “Lemon Law,” and the manager mentioned that it only applies to new vehicles. I was also informed that I would have to wait for them to fix the same issue three or four times before we could discuss an exchange of the car. I filed complaints with DOJ, Honda Service, wrote a google review and sent emails to other parties by February 17th. (I WILL ATTACHED THE DETAILED DOCUMENTATION, THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH CHARACTERS AVAILABLE)
Emission system engine light coming on and off. When getting it scanned just comings up with a general code they said it could be tons of different things. Doesn't pin point anything.
BRAKE WARNING, SIGN
2 weeks ago, my car stalled as I was driving down the highway and attempting to pass another vehicle. I was going around 45 mph, the engine stalled, the speed dropped down to about 33 and would not let me accelerate. There was not a warning light. Fortunately, there was not a car to my left so I was able to pull over. I turned the car off and it restarted. I took it to the shop a few days later and sat there for 5 hours while they ran diagnostics. They could not get the car to replicate nor did a code come on so they asked me if I could leave it. I left it for a few days and they still could not get the diagnostic code to come on nor could they get it to replicate. They did not have a rental or I would have left it longer. I will continue to call them to see if they have a rental so I can leave it longer.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact had received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE), and the vehicle was taken to be repaired under the recall. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The battery, Emissions, and 4WD warning lights were intermittently illuminated. The dealer was contacted; however, the dealer informed the contact that a diagnostic test was needed. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone and the contact was informed that the failure was related to the former recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the backover prevention camera failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the back-over prevention screen displayed a multi-color screen. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.
At random times, but seemingly becoming a more frequent occurence, when the stop/start system engages & shuts the vehicle down at idle (at a stop light for example), the vehicle will not restart for a period of time afterwards. This has also happened on the highway multiple times in traffic in which the vehicle will not start for a short period of time. This is a big safety issue and I was almost rear-ended a couple of times in those highway cases. When the problem happens, the lighting on the meter (indicator lights) will randomly flash & the clicking sound from the blinker will continuously go on/off during the timeframe of when the vehicle will not restart. I've raised this concern to Honda multiple times with no support coming back from them since they can't re-create the issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Backup camera shows distorted colors and no longer usable to identify objects in the rear of the vehicle. Additionally all backup sensors no longer activated when objects are behind the vehicle. Since there are massive blind spots behind the vehicle this is an accident waiting to happen. This was observed by dealership and recommended that the camera be replaced at owner expense. Still pending fix due to cost. This appears to be a common problem with 2019 Honda Pilot models.
This has been an on-going problem since the beginning of the year. For at least the past 7000 miles of driving, my 2019 Honda Pilot has been juttering (Honda Mechanic's Term-not mine). Pursuant to a Honda Technical Service Bulletin on this issue, I paid $1967.06 to change the fuel injectors and spark plugs in the vehicle. This did NOT resolve the problem. Anthony Hart, Customer Complaint Manager from Honda Headquarters in Torrance, CA, told me I had to take the vehicle to the local Honda Service Department and pay the $106.99 it charged for an analysis and recommendation for the repair. I did that. The mechanic acknowledged the problem and suggested to flush the transmission fluid and to perform a throttle body service with re-learn at a cost of $901.08. This appeared to be more of an "upcharge for service" rather than a resolution for the repair. Also, I was dealing with Anthony who insisted upon the evaluation in order for him to authorize some compensation for such. Therefore, I declined the service pending Anthony's response. Each time I get to speak with Mr. Hart, it is almost as if I am a first time contact. I have to reiterate that I am now into the repairs to this vehicle in the amount of $2074.05 with an additional suggested item of $901.08. The costs would therefore total $2975.13 WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT THE ISSUE WILL BE RESOLVED! It is unconscionable that Honda recognizes the issue being so common in my car that it has issued a Technical Service Bulletin; however, the suggested repair DOES NOT WORK. Honda has not issued a recall on this issue; nor has it apparently been willing to reimburse me for the repairs thus far. We are afraid to take the vehicle on long trips for fear of being stranded somewhere.
This vehicle continues to have issues related to a problem that was issued for the fuel pump earlier this year. My fuel pump was replaced, but the vehicle continues to do the same thing. It stalls and jerks while I am driving and does not start sometimes after getting gas. When I am trying to accelerate the vehicle does not go at full power. One time I was going out into traffic and had to reverse because I knew that I would not make it and get hit. In addition to this, the vehicle has an issue with the braking system. Other years have been recalled for what they call ghost breaking, and although this one does this, it has not been recalled. I will be driving and the car will all of a sudden just brake on its own as if there is a vehicle/object in front of me. Sometimes this happens in the same location. Honda is supposed to be a reliable car, but it seems they have failed with this year/model of the Pilot because it has been big issue after big issue.
The back up camera image is distorted with yellow, purple and green colors that make distinguishing objects difficult. This makes striking persons or objects much more likely. This is not an intermittent problem but a constant one. The dealer will not remedy the issue without charging a substantial amount (over $600). This should be the subject of a recall.
See attached document for complaint.
My Honda Pilot has a previous recall for the infotainment system. Recall # 20V439000 or Honda recall # T89. I purchased this vehicle used in June 2024 with the knowledge this recall had been repaired. After driving the vehicle for a short time, the infotainment system started having an issue again. We have taken the vehicle to the dealership 3 more times to get this corrected, but it is still an ongoing issue. This infotainment system recall impacts instrument panel control module software which makes this a safety issue. I am submitting this form to create a formal complaint for lack of repair after multiple attempts on a recall.
Received five warning lights at idle. Adaptive cruise control problem, Lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto high beam problem. None of these safety features work in my vehicle. I have taken this to the dealership to troubleshoot the issue and they confirm that the issue is there and said that it was the multi-purpose camera on the rear view mirror. This will end up costing around $2,000 to repair. Without these safety systems, my family Is obviously not as safe... As a consumer we pay extra for all the engineering and the physical components to have these safety features. Otherwise, I could have saved $20,000 and bought a 2000s model suburban that doesn't have these safety features.
2019 Honda Pilot EX-L Receive alarms for malfunctions in the following systems: Collision mitigation system Lane keep assist Adaptive cruise control Road departure mitigation Automatic high beams
I was coming to a stop at a red light and the car shut off . It flashed a transmission issue and emissions issue on the dash. I tried to restart and it would start but not move or let me shift into gear leaving me stranded in the middle of a busy road. It took for an officer to remove my battery cable and then reconnect for me to be able to move the vehicle out of the road and into a parking lot. I had the car towed to the nearest Honda dealership where they saw the messages on the dash. While they test drove it all errors went away and they can’t locate an issue.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted. The contact was informed by the dealer that parts were not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
On [XXX] we were driving on [XXX] in Nashville and experiencing a sudden loss of power and the check engine light started flashing. Thankfully we were able to exit the interstate without incident and there was a mechanic shop near the exit. He found brass flakes in the oil filter and told us that it was likely a bearing failure. We then had the vehicle towed back to the Honda dealership in Louisville KY where we purchased it new. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated, with another unknown warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, and DTC: P219A (Mass Air Flow Sensor) was retrieved. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed the diagnostic code and determined that the fuel injectors had failed. The dealer made the contact aware of Technical Service Bulletin Number: 21-010. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 79,700.
acceleration hesitation. Car seems to hesitate when accelerating for a few seconds and then all the sudden will accelerate quickly.

I got in my vehicle about a month ago to a lot of blinking lights. I immediately took my vehicle to Davenport Honda in Rocky Mount, NC, who stated I had a misfire and it would be over $1000 to fix the problem. Approximately a month later, a few more blinking lights came on. It was the lane departure, automatic high beam and collision lights. I took my vehicle back to the dealership that stated it is an internal failure and now the entire camera will need to be replace quoting me another $1000 job. I currently have a crack in my windshield and cannot get it replace due to this internal failure. I have read several comments about this internal failure leading to believe me this should be a recall. I don't have $4000 to $5000 to put into a vehicle every 2 to 3 months.
Unknown….vehicle slips at certain speeds and repeatedly does so on a trip. If the engine is turned off, this may reset and slippage goes away temporarily. This issue has been brought to the dealers attention on multiple occasions over the past 2 years, but they have been unable to reproduce except on the most recent visit. Occurrence is more frequent now. Wondering why this vehicle is not included with the recall with similar make and model for the same year for torque converter?
The back up camera is not working properly. It shows a lot of colors (green , purple) while blocking the rear view in the back up screen.
Since we purchased the vehicle back in 2019, the truck would stall and want to shut off during driving on and off. We received the recall information back in August and were told to call and make an appointment to service the recall. Back in August they said they didn't have enough parts in stock to service the recall and they would call me when more parts became available. Now we are in December and the truck is getting worse and we have not received any information regarding service to it. We have two young children in the car with us daily and are afraid that something might go wrong with the car.
Our Honda had a failure while driving on the highway. The camera behind the windshield apparently failed all at once and this caused all of the safety features to stop functioning and we almost had a wreck trying to get across the busy lanes of traffic because when this camera failed it caused the service brakes light on the dash to come on and stay on as well as the adaptive cruise control, the lane keep assist, the emergency braking, the blind spot warning all to stop functioning immediately without warning. We had the vehicle towed to the Honda dealer and had to pay to have the $1300 camera behind the windshield replaced on a vehicle that’s barely 5 years old. This camera that is so ingrained into all of the safety features that are the main reason we bought this vehicle should not be failing. Honda refused to assist with this repair and they will recall vehicles because a backup camera isn’t clear but offer no help for something that kills every single safety feature of the vehicle? How does that make sense? I find this to be a sad situation that will get someone killed.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fujel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while idle at a red stop light the vehicle suddenly smoke coming from the front passenger side of the vehicle that began increasing in size and thickness. The contact as well as the passengers exited the vehicle after the vehicle had been turned off. After exiting the vehicle, a fire immediately began to come from the front end of the vehicle. The fire department had put out the fire. The vehicle was towed and totaled. A police report was filed. There were no injuries and no medical attention was needed. The dealer was contacted and was unable to confirm any cause for this failure or confirm when the remedy would be available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 82,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

When exiting a highway, my Pilot started to shake and jump. When I pulled to safety, the vehicle was reluctant to shift into park and kept cycling back in to drive. After multiple attempts, it finally stayed in park. Dealership reported the transmission software needed to be updated. I was told this is not covered under my warranty or under a recall as this is not a common problem. After doing more research this does appear to be a common safety problem.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that he had stopped the vehicle and had depressed the brake pedal. The contact stated that he opened the driver's side door and as he stepped out with his left leg, the vehicle started to move forward, and the engine was still running. The contact stated that the vehicle had a safety feature that automatically placed the vehicle into park (P) when the driver depressed the brake pedal and opened the driver's side door. The contact stated that as he exited the vehicle, it started to roll; he had parked on a slope with the hood of the vehicle aimed downhill. The contact stated that the driver's side rear tire ran over both his legs below his knees. The vehicle rolled downhill into a ravine and was not damaged. The contact stated that he called the police, who arrived and asked if he needed medical attention. The contact stated that no report was issued. The contact declined and later drove himself to a hospital emergency room. The contact stated that he was x-rayed and examined and only had abrasions and bruises. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined it had low battery power and had contacted the manufacturer for further guidance. The contact stated that the vehicle had a 9-speed automatic transmission that used a push button. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.

Just started, while driving in high winds: electrical power steering problem, vehicle stability assist problem, hill start assist problem, trailer stability assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, emissions system problem. Brake system warning light is also on. I don’t have a towing system installed- so that’s odd to get a warning for trailer stability. I had an oil change @ 101076 miles, on 19 November 2024, and my tires were rotated at that time. This issue repeated itself today, 21 November 2024.
On the highway, driving at 70mph, the speed of the car dropped suddenly down to 40mph. Almost caused an accident as there wasn't time for other cars to break or move lanes. Managed to exit and drove slowly to the dealership. They said it was a problem to the high pressure fuel pump.
My car has the following recall #23V-858. I am aware that Honda has issues with sourcing the replacement part. I called when receiving the first notification in Feb 2024 and was told this. I checked again when receiving the 2nd notification in May 2024 and was told the same, difficulty sourcing the required part. I recently have started to notice issues with the car which point to this problem, hesitation and uneven fuel supply. I contacted the local Honda Dealer, Ron Bouchards Honda Store, Lancaster, MA and after escalating the issue with customer service they scheduled an appointment to address the issue. When scheduling they informed me that they would charge $180 service fee. The reason I escalated this issue was that it is not a service issue but a recall issue. Can NHTSA help in addressing this issue? It makes no sense that a recall must be paid for by a consumer when the problem exists for the owner. Thank you for you assistance. Problem: Emissions System Problem-I am reaching out to request an expansion of the coverage provided by Service Bulletin 21-010 to include vehicles of the same model year, trim level, and similar specifications—even if they fall outside the currently specified VIN range. I believe this case is reason for Honda to consider expanding the coverage due to the potential for this issue to affect additional vehicles beyond the initially designated VINs. 1. Defects Are Not Always VIN-Specific Manufacturing flaws can affect an entire batch of production, not just a specific VIN range. Issues related to parts, assembly processes, or design flaws found within the currently affected VIN range could very well extend to vehicles produced around the same time, even if they lie outside the VIN specifications. By limiting coverage strictly to the designated VIN range, Honda may inadvertently overlook other vehicles that share the same defect. 2. Shared Components and Engineering Design While variations in parts and tolerances are expected, vehicles with the same model year and trim level often share critical components and similar engineering specifications. This makes it likely that other vehicles outside the specified VIN range could also be affected by the same defect. Given that design, assembly processes, and parts are often consistent across a model year, expanding the coverage could better account for possible common manufacturing issues. 11-9-24 - Honda ran their analysis determined the following issue: P0430 (FRONT BANK CATALYST SYSTEM EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD [BANK 2]) BULLETIN OUT FOR FUEL INJECTORS REPLACEMENT FIRST. PERFORMED CYLINDER AF TEST AND FAILDER NUMBER 1 AND 6. REPLACE FUEL INJECTORS AND PERFORM AF TEST AGAIN. MAY NEED CAT. CONVERTER FRONT. On 11-8-24 Honda Customer Support refused to include this car in the recall. Vehicles with the same year, model, and trim level should be included in the service bulletin, based on the systemic nature of the defect.

Said 2019 Honda Pilot, maintained per Honda recommended maintenance schedule, experienced engine knock and internal damage at 100k miles. Investigation by Honda Certified Maintenance (dealership) identified a misfire diagnostic code for cylinder #2, and observed visible metallic debris in the engine oil indicative of bearing failure. Honda Certified Maintenance suggested internal engine damage and recommended engine/motor replacement. This is premature failure of 2019 Honda Pilot engine, presumably "not included" in the "affected VIN" population of Honda Service Bulletin #24-001.
On going issues with 2019 Hondas and their reverse cameras dying after warranty expires. Lots of complaints, not associated to cable recalls. Documented history of color on backup camera going sepia/florescent. Previous complaints to NHTSA made.
The audio system has loud crackling and popping noise that happens intermittently, causing the audio to stop working. Honda has issued a recall for 2020 models, noting that the noise is caused by loose or damaged connectors in the MOST (Media Oriented System Transport) network, which is part of the infotainment system and also powers the backup camera. The official recall remedy involves replacing the wiring harness to fix this issue, though some owners have reported the problem persists after repeated attempts at correction. The noise is very loud and distracting while driving. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms were noticed.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and accelerating, the engine made clicking sounds. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the timing belt, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, who determined that the rod bearings had failed, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
When car is stopped at light/stop sign, etc, the car automatically shifts into neutral and battery light comes on, car will not shift out of neutral or turn on. Car has to be shut off which involves pushing start button several times before it will shut off. Wait a few seconds and then it will reset and drive. This is a safety issue as cars behind do not realize my car won’t move. This has been a recurring issue with the start/stop function since I bought the car where the car engages the start/stop and the. The car won’t turn on and go when I release the brake. I have gone to the dealership several times. They have replaced the battery and says nothing is wrong and they can’t recreate problem. Previous case #14132776 with Honda on this issue.

The recall for Fuel Pump still has no parts available? it has been 9 months long. I have called dealership every week and they keep saying no parts. I'm worried about my car. I can feel the car choking sometine while driving.
MOST Net Off recall was repaired on 9/21/24. On all of the following dates, the same issue, Network Communication Lost and MOST Net Off would appear on the screen with it rebooting itself anywhere between 5 minutes and 1 hour. Dates are: 10/18/24, 1/16/25, 1/17/25, 1/29/25, 1/30/25 on two occasions, 2/7/25, 2/10/25, 2/12/25, 2/17/25, 2/18/25, and 2/28/25. Finally on 4/9/25, the same situation occurred without any reboot and now the network screen does not work at all. I am unable to use handsfree phones but more importantly, the backup camera and approaching vehicle notification no longer works due to this screen not working.
