HEATING/ AC FAN BLOWER HARNESS BURNT UP. A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON AN HUMMER H3/. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HUMMER H3. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND STATED THAT THE ENGINE MISFIRED AND HAD AN EXCESSIVE LEAK IN IT. THE EMISSION COIL WAS REPAIRED BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,014.
I HAVE A 2006 HUMMER H3 WITH APP. 79,000 MILES ON IT.. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY AND HALFWAY THERE, I STARTED TO GET A REALLY BAD VIBRATION AND LOUD HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE DRIVELINE. IT STARTS AT ABOUT 40 MPH AND COMES AND GOES EVERY FEW SECONDS. ITS WORSE WHEN I HIT THE GAS PEDAL.. THE UNIVERSAL JOINTS HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPLACED DUE TO CRACKED UNIVERSAL JOINTS FOR SOME ODD REASON.. THE TOP END OF THE ENGINE HAD JUST BEEN REBUILT 2 WEEKS AGO AS WELL DUE TO STICKING EXHAUST VALVES. THIS TRUCK IS BABIED AND HAS NEVER BEEN OFF- ROAD. MAINLY HIGHWAY MILES ONLY.. I JUST HAD IT ALIGNED. ALL THE FLUID LEVELS ARE CORRECT. ALL THE DRIVESHAFTS ARE TIGHT AND NOTHING SEEMS TO BE LOOSE.. NO MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN DONE TO IT.. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE SOMETHING COULD LOCK UP AND MAKE YOU LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE.. THIS WILL BE THE 6TH TIME I'VE HAD IT IN THE SHOP FOR PROBLEMS... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HUMMER H3. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A FIXED BARRIER WHILE TRYING TO DECELERATE INTO A TURN. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER RECEIVED INJURIES TO THE NECK, CHEST AND AN ABRASION TO HER HEAD. SHE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. THE POLICE WERE CALLED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED AS DESTROYED AND WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,500.
I PURCHASED MY 2006 HUMMER H3 IN FEBRUARY 2006. AFTER DRIVING IT FOR APPROXIMATELY 5K MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT WAS LOSING POWER. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE HUMMER/GM DEALER. I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. I WAS IN SHOCK THAT I HAD THAT PROBLEM WITH A NEW VEHICLE AND I REQUESTED THAT I GET A NEW REPLACEMENT VEHICLE BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT THE "LEMON" THEY SOLD ME WITH A DEFECTIVE ENGINE. I WAS ASSURED I HAD NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT AND THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED (UNDER WARRANTY OF COURSE) AND I WOULD NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM AGAIN. IN NOVEMBER 2010, MONTHS AFTER MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, MY VEHICLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IN FACT, IT IS AT THE DEALER NOW AND I STILL DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH IT WILL COST ME TO REPAIR IT. THE ONLY REASON IT MAY BE REPAIRED AT NO COST TO ME IS BECAUSE I PAID $2650 FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM AN OUTSIDE COMPANY (WHICH EXPIRES SOON). HOWEVER, MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY STILL NEEDS TO DETERMINE IF IT WILL COVER THE REPAIRS. I DID MY RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT MANY (TOO MANY) 2006 H3S HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE AND IT IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM THAT GM IS VERY AWARE OF. HOWEVER, DESPITE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS, GM REFUSES TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM OR ISSUE ANY BULLETIN. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. IF THE ENGINE MISFIRES AND MY VEHICLE BREAKS DOWN, IT CAN EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND/OR ROLLOVER, AND VERY WELL COST ME MY LIFE AND THE LIVES OF OTHERS. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND ISSUE A SAFETY BULLETIN, AND REPLACE ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. *TR
2006 HUMMER H3 47000 MILES ONLY 2 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, NOTICED ROUGH IDLE. DEALER SAYS MUST REPLACE HEAD DUE TO MISFIRE AND TROUBLE WITH CYLINDER 5. DEALER RECOGNIZED COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE, BUT REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING BUT DISCOUNT THE REPAIR FROM 3200 PLUS TAX DOWN TO 2800. THIS APPEARS TO BE SAME ENGINE PROBLEM AS WAS COVERED FOR THE COLORADO, BUT GM REFUSES TO HELP WITH H3! *TR
THE SIDE TRIMMING NEAR THE ROOF RACKS ARE CRACKED, THE GASKETS NEAR THE REAR OF THE ROOF RACKS ARE COMING APART, AND THE TRIMMING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE NEAR THE WINDSHIELD ARE COMING OFF AND FADED. THE BEST WAY FOR ME TO DESCRIBE WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY VEHICLE IS BY PRESENTING SOME FORUMS THAT I READ ABOUT.............. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HUMMER H3. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY JERKED UNTIL IT STALLED. AFTER THE VEHICLE STOPPED HE WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND CONTINUE DRIVING NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY 5 TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AFTER HE DISENGAGED THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM FUSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHIN THE WHEEL SENSOR. THE WHEEL SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE DID NOT RECUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
2006 HUMMER H3 WILL NOT ACCELERATE AFTER RELEASING BRAKE. AFTER TAKING A HARD LEFT TURN INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE TRUCK STOPPED DEAD IN PLACE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FURTHER UNLESS I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL DOWN. IF I WHERE DRIVING AT FAST SPEEDS I WOULD HAVE PROBABLY FLIPPED IT OVER, AND DIED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HUMMER H3. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT 65MPH, THE BRAKES SUDDENLY LOCKED UP AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE. THE STABILIZER LIGHT BECAME ILLUMINATED RIGHT AFTER THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AND DROVE HOME. THE NEXT DAY, THE STABILIZER ACTIVATED AGAIN AND THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN IN OCTOBER 2010 AND ALMOST CAUSED AN CRASH. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 73,000. UPDATED 01/06/11*LJ
HUMMER H3 COMPLAINT FIRST, THE 06 HUMMER H3 SUNROOF HAS LEAKED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF APART, MOST RECENT THIS MAY-JUNE. WATER LEAKAGE INSIDE ON THE FRONT SIDE WINDOW PANELS AND FLOOR PANELS AND FLOOR. MOORE CADILLAC-HUMMER TOLD ME THAT CLOGGED DRAINS WERE THE CAUSE. I THINK THE SEAL MUST BE DEFECTIVE OTHERWISE THE RAIN WOULD NOT GET IN. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY; THIS PAST INCIDENCE THE WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED SO I WAS CHARGED $100 DOLLARS. I HAVE A FEELING THAT IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. I'VE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN ON OTHER CARS, THE SEALS NEVER LEAKED UNLESS I LEFT THE ROOF OPEN. SECOND, THE A/C FAN BLOWER RECENTLY WENT OUT, THIS JULY-AUGUST, MY LOCAL MECHANIC SAID THAT THE R & R BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR AND RESISTOR WIRE HARNESS BURNED OUT. I'VE READ THIS ON SEVERAL BLOGS, THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN REPEATEDLY DUE TO THE DESIGN AND RESISTOR CAPACITY. HIS SERVICE FEE TO REPAIR IS $300 DOLLARS; ABOUT $170 FOR LABOR AND $ 130 FOR PARTS, WHICH I THINK IS TOO HIGH. I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT TO THE LOCAL GM DEALER (MOORE CADILLAC-HUMMER), THOUGH I PURCHASED IT FROM CRISWELL IN GAITHERSBURG, MD, SINCE I PROBABLY COULD NOT AFFORD THEIR COST. *TR
I OWN A HUMMER H3 THE OTHER DAY THE AIRCONDITION STOP WORKING I LOOK AT THE HEATER BLOWER THE LINKS TO THE AIR CONDITIONER THE WIRES AND RESISTOR WERE FRAYED AND EXTREME HOT. I HAD TO UN HOOK IT SO IT WON'T START A FIRE. I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS COMPLAINT AND I READ OTHER PEOPLES STORY'S THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL, I WAS TOLD TO REPLACE IT COULD CAUSE A FIRE. *TR
I OWN A 2006 HUMMER H3. MY FAN BLOWER QUIT WORKING. UPON INVESTIGATION I FOUND THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR AND THE CONNECTOR TO BE WELDED TOGETHER. I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH ITEMS BECAUSE THEY WERE MELTED TOGETHER. THIS HAS TO BE A FIRE HAZARD AND AFTER I GOOGLED IT TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX IT I WAS SHOCKED AT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HUMMER H3. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH WITH THE "FOUR WHEEL HIGH LOCK" IN ACTIVATION. WHEN APPROACHING A TURN, THE FRONT WHEELS BEGAN TO SQUEAL. THE READING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED THE FOUR WHEEL HIGH RANGE AND NO INDICATION OF THE LOCK BEING ENGAGED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE FAILURE WILL BE DIAGNOSED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HUMMER H3. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH THE CONTACT HEARD A SQUEAKING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE NOISE COULD BE HEARD WAS HEARD WHILE DRIVING 35 TO 75 MPH AND THE HIGH PITCH OF THE NOISE WOULD CHANGE WHENEVER THE WHEEL WAS TURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE LEFT FRONT HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY WAS LOOSE AND WORN. THE HUB ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 69,548.

ON MAY 29 2010 I WENT TO THE STORE AROUND AFTERNOON AND CAME BACK FROM THE STORE I STARTED MY HUMMER 2006 H3 THE CAR STARTED AND I LOOK AT THE INDASH AND NO LIGHT CAME ON AND I DRIVE AROUND THE PARKING LOT TO SEE IF THE IN DASH LIGHT COME ON AND I PARK THE CAR AND TURN OFF MY IGNITION AND TURN IT BACK ON STILL THE SAME NO LIGHT ON MY INDASH AND I WAS SCARE TO DRIVE IT OUT ON THE ROAD BECAUSE I DON'T SEE HOW FAST I WAS RUNNING OR THE CAR MIGHT DIE OUT ON ME WHEN IM DRIVING AND I WAS THINKING TO MYSELF THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND I WAS MAD I DROVE HOME AND ABOUT 3 OR 4 MINUTE LATER THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND I WAS WONDER WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN OR DID MY ELECTRIC WIRE SHORT CIRCUIT AND MY TRUCK IS 4 YEAR OLD AND BARELY DRIVING IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HUMMER H3. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HOOD GRILL COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60-65 MPH. A WEEK LATER, HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR RECALL 10V179000 (STRUCTURE:BODY:HOOD). WHEN HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, HE WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE HOOD GRILL BUT WOULD GLUE THE HOOD LOUVER BACK ON. THE CONTACT DID NOT FEEL THAT THE REPAIR WAS A SUFFICIENT FIX. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 118,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HUMMER H3. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED WHEN THE ACCESSORY LIGHT BAR FRACTURED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE DEALER DISCOVERED THAT THE ADHESIVE THAT HELD THE ACCESSORY BAR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V179000-STRUCTURE: BODY: HOOD) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT HE WOULD ONLY APPLY AN ADHESIVE TO THE HOOD LOUVER, AS INSTRUCTED IN THE RECALL, AND NOTHING MORE. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HUMMER H3. THE CONTACT WAS PULLING AWAY FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN THE ENGINE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT A LOW POWER RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED; THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETECT A TROUBLE CODE AND INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A MANUFACTURER DESIGN WHICH WAS A COMMON ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT MECHANICS FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000.
TIRE FAILURE, BLOWOUT AT HIGHWAY SPPED. ON MARCH 6, 2010, WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 H3 HUMMER THE LEFT REAR TIRE HAD A CATASTROPIC FAILURE. THE TIRE IS A BRIDGESTONE DUELER A/T RH-S LT 285/75R16 LOAD RANGE C M+S.
CALLED BY CUSTOMER COMPLAINT OF ROUGH IDLE AND MISFIRE. VEHICLE IS A 2006 HUMMER H3 WITH THE L52 I-5 CYLINDER ENGINE. MILEAGE IS 77675 DIAGNOSIS REVEALED CYLINDER #5 WAS BAD. FURTHER TESTING REVEALED WATER IN THE OIL. FINAL DIAGNOSIS BLOWN HEAD GASKET. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE AND VEHICLE. DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THOUGH IT IS THE SAME ENGINE GM ISSUED A TECHNICAL BULLETIN CALLING FOR CHANGING HEADS ON THE COLORADO. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HUMMER H3. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 50 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE BRAKES LOCKED WITHOUT BEING ENGAGED. THE ABS WARNING SCREEN INDICATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE FAILING. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER THE REPAIR WAS MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 96045.

DURING NORMAL DRIVING AND IDLEING I STARTED SEEING / HEARING THE ENGINE MISFIRE AND ILLUMINATION OF THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON (SES) I WOULD EXPERIENCE ABRUPT LOSS OF POWER OR SURGING OR IDLE ROUGHNESS. AFTER RESEARCH AND DEALER DIAGNOSIS WE FOUND THE EARLY HUMMER H3 HAS THE SAME ATLAS L52 I-5 ENGINE AS THE 04-05 CHEVROLET COLORADO. THE 04-05 CHEVEROLET COLORADO ATLAS L52 I-5 ENGINE WAS GIVEN A SPECIAL COVERAGE FOR SOFT ENGINE INTAKE VALVE SEATS, EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 7 YEARS AND 100,000 MILES UNDER TSB 07123 NHTSA # 10022722. TO FIX THE PROBLEM THE HEAD IS REPLACED WITH ONE WITH HARDER VALVE SEATS. THE 2006 HUMMER H3 SHOULD ALSO BE COVERED BY THIS BULLETIN. THE DEALER UNCLOGGED THE DRAIN AND WITHIN A FEW MONTHS THE SUNROOF STARTED TO LEAK AGAIN. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE DRAIN WAS UNCLOGGED AGAIN; HOWEVER, THE SUNROOF CONTINUED TO LEAK. THE SUNROOF SEAL WAS BEING REPLACED BY THE DEALER WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE COMPLAINTS ON THE LEAKING SUNROOF. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE LEAK WAS DUE TO THE CLOGGED DRAINS. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ISSUE A RECALL SINCE THE FAILURE WAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. THIS CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE LARGE AMOUNTS OF WATER SPILLING ONTO THE DRIVER, OR AN ELECTRICAL FIRE OR MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION. I HAVE A 2006 HUMMER H3 WITH A LITTLE OVER 15,000 MILES ON IT. THERE IS AN ISSUE OF "BAD CYLINDER HEADS" IN THESE 3.5L I5 ENGINES AND GM HAS NOT STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE FOR A RECALL. ANOTHER CYLINDER HEAD HAS BEEN ORDERED FOR MY VEHICLE AND WILL BE FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MY WARRANTY RUNS OUT A YEAR FROM NOW.
