DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR DOORS DO NOT HAVE SAFETY LOCKS. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PUT INTO ANY GEAR THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCK, BUT THE CHILDREN ARE STILL ABLE TO UNLOCK THE REAR DOORS. THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK FEATURE IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THIS MODEL, BUT IS AVAILABLE ON OTHER GENERAL MOTORS PRODUCTS.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, A CHILD IN THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE CHILD FELL OUT AND SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED. THEY DETERMINED THIS WAS A DESIGN ISSUE DUE TO NO CHILD SAFETY LOCKS ON THE DOORS.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT NO PARTICULAR SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE MYSTERIOUSLY SUCKED UP A GARAGE BAG. THE BAG WRAPPED AROUND THE DRIVESHAFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH DETERMINED THE DRIVESHAFT NEEDED REPLACED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE IDLING AT AN INTERSECTION, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND ON STAR WAS CALLED. THERE WAS AN ADVISORY TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE SLOWLY TO THE NEAREST DEALER. DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS PERFORMED AND THEY DETERMINED A CYLINDER WAS LEAKING AND THE HEAD AND VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. 12,000 MILES AFTER THE FIRST REPAIR, THE IDENTICAL SCENARIO RECURRED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY DETERMINED THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE WAS THE SAME AS THE PREVIOUS VISIT. ANOTHER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING AND IT NEEDED A HEAD AND VALVE JOB AGAIN. THE SERVICE MANAGER EXPRESSED THE REASON FOR THE RECURRENCE WAS DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE HEAD WHICH WAS INSTALLED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED AND DURING THE REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, AND DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS NOW A NEW PART FOR REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE ORIGINAL PART AND THE NEW PART HAD THE SAME PART NUMBER. *NM
IN A TEST DRIVE I FIND THAT THE HUMMER H3 HAS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TOO CLOSE, THE SHOES LIPS GET STUCK IN THE BACK OF THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN I TRY TO BRAKE IN EMERGENCY SITUATION. THIS MAY CAUSE FUTURE ACCIDENTS. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY REPLAY THAT THERE IS NO PLAN TO FIX THIS DEFECT. I HAD A WORK BOOT ON AT THE TIME OF THE TEST. *JB
WE HAVE BATTLING THE PROBLEM OF THE SUNROOF LEAKING ON OUR HUMMER. THERE IS DRAIN TUBES IN THE CORNERS OF THE SUNROOF THIS WATER IS SUPPOSED TO GO DO THESE TUBES THEN ON THE GROUND. HOW EVER THIS IS NOT THE CASE. IN MOST CASES THE WATER LEAKS DOWN THE PILLARS IN THE TRUCKS DASH COMPARTMENT AND SOAKS THE CARPET ON BOTH SIDES AND THE HEAD LINER. WE HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL ACCESSIONS AND THEY JUST SAY THEY WERE STOP UP BUT THEY JUST LEAK THE NEXT DAY LIKE NOTHING HAS EVEN BEEN DONE. THEY CHARGE 300 DOLLARS TO DO THIS. I HAVE THE TECHNICIAN TELL ME THAT NOTHING HE HAS DONE WILL FIX THIS OFF THE RECORD..WHEN THE WATER IS POURING IN THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO THE ONSTAR GOES OFF AND YOUR LIGHTS ON THE INSIDE GO DIM WE HAVE HAD THE CPU SHORT OUT DUE TO WATER THE BLOWER CONTROLLER BOTH FRONT SPEAKERS AND BEHIND THE DASH ALL THE METAL PARTS ARE COVERED IN RUST. WHEN THE ELECTRICAL PARTS SHORTED OUT THE WIRES WERE BURNT AND WE WERE DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED ON ONE OCCASION AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. WE HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TAKEN IT THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT HELP. THE TRUCK IS ALWAYS DAMP INSIDE. THEN OF COURSE THE SMELL OF THE CARPETS. I EVEN HAVE CONTACTED GM AND JUST SAID TAKE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE GONNA CHARGE THE SAME THING. I AM SCARED FOR MY WIFE AND FAMILY TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK. WE WILL NOT EVEN LEAVE IN THE GARAGE DUE THE RISK OF FIRE. IF YOU GOOGLE THIS PROBLEM THERE IS OVER 60K TOPICS ON THIS AND FORUM AFTER FORUM ABOUT IT. AND EVERY IS SAYING THIS. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND GM IS NOT GOING TO STAND BEHIND THIS. I THINK SOMETHING SHOULD DONE ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMETHING VERY BAD HAPPENS TO SOMEONE IN THESE TRUCKS. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH THE CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT UNLOCKED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR. THE DOOR HANDLE WAS RAISED, HOWEVER THE DOOR REMAINED SHUT. A FEW MOMENTS LATER THE CONTACT PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN MOTION, THE BACK DOOR FLEW OPEN. AS A RESULT OF THE DOOR OPENING, THE CHILD'S ENTIRE ARM WAS STUCK OUT OF THE VEHICLE TRYING TO GRAB HOLD OF THE DOOR. THE CHILD WAS PROPERLY BUCKLED IN THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT AND SUFFERED NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED AND INFORMED OF THE CONCERN OVER THE DOORS NOT HAVING THE CHILD PROOF LOCKS DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS. UPDATED 3/20/2006 - *NM
VEHICLE HAD AN ENGINE MISS FIRE THAT REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE HEAD. MISS. RETURNED SHORTLY AFTER REPAIRS. DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO MISS. VEHICLE FILLED UP WITH WATER DURING A RAINSTORM. ALL INTERIOR HAD TO BE REMOVED AND DRIED OUT. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS OCCURRED THAT REQUIRED FOUR BATTERIES OVER 12 MONTHS. DEALER STATED IT WAS MY PROBLEM, BECAUSE I HAD A SMALL INVERTER FOR COMPUTER. SOLD THE VEHICLE TO THE HUMMER DEALER AT A LOSS OF $15,000. HUMMER REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE AFTER FIRST STATING THEY WOULD. *JB
AIRBAG SENSOR IN MAIN DASH (NOT PASSENGER LIGHT) KEEPS COMING ON, DESPITE HAVING THE VEHICLE INTO DEALER SERVICE 4 TIMES. ON EACH OCCASION, THE A PART IS REPLACED, THE LIGHT GOES OFF, AND WITHIN A FEW HOURS TO DAYS, THE LIGHT COMES BACK ON. CURRENTLY THE LIGHT IS OFF AFTER THE 4TH TRIP TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. *NM
DEBRIS FROM HIGHWAY AND LOCAL AREA DRIVING HIT MY WINDSHIELD AND DAMAGED IT. THIS HAPPENED TWO TIMES IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS. FIRST DURING THE WEEK OF 9/12/05 AND AGAIN ON 9/27/05 A DAY AFTER THE FIRST DAMAGED WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED. AFTER REVIEWING ON-LINE WINDSHIELD REPAIRS FOR THIS VEHICLE I FOUND OUT THAT HUMMER MAKES THERE WINDSHIELDS ON A VERTICAL PROPORTION WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW FOR DEBRIS/ROCKS TO ROLL OFF THE WINDSHIELD ANY OBJECT WITH FORCE WILL BREAK THE WINDSHIELD AT ANY GIVEN TIME. I AM NOW AFRAID TO RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE ONE FOR MY SAFETY AND TWO FOR ANYONE ELSE WHO MAY BE IN MY TRUCK WITH ME. I COULD BE SERIOUSLY HURT AND THOSE ON BOARD AS WELL. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS MATTER THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED TO THE HUMMER MANUFACTURES ASAP. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY SUCH A HIGH END VEHICLE WAS MADE WITH A POSSIBLE DEATH TRAP WINDSHIELD. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATES WHILE DRIVING THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL RING GEAR FELL APART. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THEY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE AND HAVE NOW VOIDED THE VEHICLE WARRANTY. *JB
