ON THIS 2011 HYUNDAI ELANTRA TOURING, THE LEFT (DRIVER'S SIDE) FRONT TIRE DEVELOPED A BUBBLE AFTER ONLY 2240 MILES. THE TIRE WAS A KUMHO SOLUS KH16 215/45/17. THE HYUNDAI DEALER ADVISED ME THAT THE TIRE WARRANTY WAS DIRECTLY WITH KUMHO, NOT WITH THE DEALER OR HYUNDAI. REPRESENTATIVES OF TWO KUMHO TIRE DEALERS (DISCOUNT TIRE AND SEARS) SAID ANY BUBBLES WERE THE RESULT OF IMPACT, SUCH AS WITH A POTHOLE, AND THE KUMHO WARRANTY EXCLUDED ROAD HAZARDS. BOTH REFUSED TO INSPECT THE TIRE CLOSELY WHEN I SAID THERE HAD BEEN NO IMPACT THAT COULD HAVE PRODUCED SUCH A BUBBLE. THE KUMHO CUSTOMER SERVICE CONTACT FAILED TO RETURN MY CALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME EQUIPPED WITH A SPARE TIRE, WHEEL, JACK OR LUG WRENCH. THERE WAS A MOBILITY KIT AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THE OWNERS MANUAL ON HOW TO INSTALL THE SPARE TIRE, BUT THERE WAS NO SPARE IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO ADVISED THAT THEY COULD POSSIBLY COME OUT WITH AN INSTRUCTIONAL SPARE TIRE KIT IN THE FUTURE. NO OTHER INFORMATION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120. THE COMPUTERIZED STEERING IN THIS VEHICLE RESULTS IN THE WHEELS BEING PULLED TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. DEALER SAYS THAT THEY CAN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM; THIS IS JUST A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CAR. POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE HERE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME EQUIPPED WITH A SPARE TIRE AND EXPRESSED CONCERNS OVER BEING STRANDED WITH A FLAT TIRE. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE A SPARE TIRE SEPARATELY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5.
THE 2011 HYUNDAI ELANTRA 1.8LITER ENGINE MAKES A GRINDING THEN WHINING NOISE IN THE FIRST FEW SECONDS OF THE FIRST COLD ENGINE START OF THE DAY. ON THE DAY OF SALES DELIVERY THE VEHICLE MADE THIS NOISE FOR AT LEAST TWO MINUTES WHICH PROMPTED ME TO ALERT THE SALESMAN AND LIFT THE HOOD FOR CLOSER INSPECTION. THE SALES MAN REPLIED "ALL THE NEW ENGINES MAKE THIS SOUND, IT WILL QUIET DOWN." I HAVE ASKED ANOTHER OWNER OF THE SAME VEHICLE IF THEY NOTICED IT. THEY HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM UPON COLD START UP. WE BOTH HAVE VIDEO DOCUMENTATION OF THE ISSUE WHICH CAN BE VIEWED ON YOU TUBE BY SEARCHING FOR 2011 HYUNDAI ELANTRA ENGINE NOISE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD PULL TO THE LEFT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE EXCESSIVE FORCE IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. NONE OF THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,450 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
SHORTLY AFTER DELIVERY ON NOVEMBER 30, 2010 CAR BEGAN EXPERIENCING UNINITIATED AND ERRATIC DOOR LOCKING PROBLEMS. REPAIR ATTEMPTS ON MARCH 22, AUGUST 1, AND NOVEMBER 25, 2011 ALL FAILED. FAILURES OCCURRED IN A VARIETY OF PHYSICAL LOCATIONS AS WELL AS BOTH WITHIN A SHORT TIME OF EXITING THE CAR OR WHEN THE CAR WAS LEFT UNLOCKED OVERNIGHT. FAILURES WERE NOT RELATED TO THE PHYSICAL LOCATION OF THE REMOTE KEY FOB. WITH DRIVER-DOOR WINDOW OPEN PHYSICAL ABNORMALITIES WERE VISIBLE PRIOR TO ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DOOR. DEALER OBSERVED PHYSICAL DEFECT AND REPLACED LATCH AND ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY ON NOVEMBER 25, 2011. WITH WINDOW OPEN, TWO ATTEMPTS TO UNLOCK THE DOOR USING DOOR-MOUNTED ELECTRICAL CONTROL SYSTEM FAILED TO OPEN THE LOCKED DOOR. ONE ATTEMPT ACTIVATED THE CARS ALARM SYSTEM. KEY FOB WAS IN HOUSE. IF THE LOCKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED IN A SIMILAR MANNER DURING AN ACCIDENT, THE DRIVER WOULD BE TRAPPED INSIDE THE CAR AND, ACCESS BY EMERGENCY SERVICE PERSONNEL WOULD BE IMPEDED. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO DECEMBER 22, 2011, JANUARY 11, AND FEBRUARY 4, 2012 REQUESTS TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR APPOINTMENT WITH THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE. ON JANUARY 17, 2012 DEALER MADE PHYSICAL CHANGES TO THE ALARM SYSTEM. FIFTH REPAIR ATTEMPT ON FEBRUARY 23, 2012 (5,600 MILES) INCLUDED THE HISTORY OF THE UNRESOLVED MALFUNCTIONING. DEALERSHIP DID NOT PROVIDE REQUIRED REPAIR-ORDERS FOR THE 4TH OR 5TH ATTEMPTS. HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA CONTENDS THE DEALER WAS NEVER ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, DESPITE NOVEMBER 25, 2011 WARRANTY REPAIR-ORDER FOR MECHANICAL ABNORMALITY ASSOCIATED WITH THE SELF-LOCKING DEFECT CONFIRMED BY DEALERSHIP PERSONNEL. THERE IS NO RECORD OF ANY SPECIFIC TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE BY HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA. ON MARCH 2, 2012 CAR WAS DISASSEMBLED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND DEALER UNILATERALLY CEASED WARRANTY SERVICE.
DEAR SIR THEY CHANGE MY TRANSMISSION IN 1ST 30000 MILE BECAUSE WHILE DRIVING MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN GOES IN NEUTRAL THEY CHANGE TRANSMISSION . AFTER COUPLE OF MONTH AGAIN THIS THING HAPPEN AGAIN THEY CHANGE MY TRANSMISSION NOW WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY ACCELERATOR PADDLE DOESN'T COME BACK. CAR DRIVE BY ITSELF. I WENT TO CAR DEALERSHIP NAME RICKCASE HYUNDAI I N ATLANTAGEORGIA.THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM. AGAIN I WENT TO HYUNDAI MALL OF GEORGIA.THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. I CALL HYUNDAI NO RESPONSE. I WENT AGAIN TO HYUNDAI MALL OF GEORGIA I WENT 3 TIME DROP MY CAR FOR 2 DAYS TO FIND PROBLEM THEY CANNOT FIND PROBLEM. TILL TODAY MY CAR HAS SAME PROBLEM. IT DRIVE BY ITSELF.IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN WE HAVE TO STOP AT LIGHT.I HAVE TO PUSH VERY HARD BRAKE PADDLE. AT THAT TIME MY RPM OF ENGINE IS 7000. YOU THINK HOW POWER IS IN CAR WHEN I STOP AT LIGHT.BECAUSE OF THIS MY WIFE CANNOT DRIVE THIS CAR.I DON'T HAVE CHOICE TO DRIVE THIS CAR.WHAT YOU RECOMMEND PLEASE HELP ME OUT IN THIS MATTER. I HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2011 TIRES CONTIPRO R17. FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHEN I HIT A 4 INCH POTHOLE AND FOR SOME REASON THE AIR ESCAPED THE TIRE AND HAD TO CALL A TOW IN TRUCK. THE DEALER REPLACED MY TIRE FOR ONLY $321 (AM I LUCKY HA HA). NOW IT IS OCTOBER AND ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE BACK PASSENGER TIRE HIT A MUCH SMALLER POTHOLE AND THE TIRE BLEW OUT. WHAT IS GOING ON? THESE TIRES ARE MADE OUT OF BUBBLE GUM. MY FORD CONTOUR 1997 DROVE THROUGH THE GRAND CANYON AND TIRES LASTED FOR 80 THOUSAND MILES WITH NO PROBLEMS. I HOPE THEY REPLACE THOSE THINGS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT....... THANKS *TR
ON MAY 22ND I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THERE WAS A LADY IN A JEEP INFRONT OF ME. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, CARS SLOWLY BEGAN TO MOVE AND AS SOON AS I ACCELERATED GENTLY THE LADY INFRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON HER BREAKS ABOUT 15 TO 20 FEET INFRONT OF ME. INSTINCTIVELY I SLAMMED ON MY BREAKS AS WELL BUT MY VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. INSTEAD IT CONTINUED FORWARD RIGHT INTO THE BACK OF HER JEEP. AT THE POINT OF IMPACT MY CAR WAS GOING ABOUT 10MPH. MY FOOT NEVER CAME OFF THE BREAKS AND I HAD MORE THAN ENOUGH SPACE TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP. HAD THE BREAKS NOT FAILED ME I WOULD NOT BE DEALING WITH AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS MY FIRST AUTO COLLISION AND I WANT SOMEONE TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THESE FAULTY BREAKS. THEY HAVE NEVER FAILED BEFORE OR FAILED AN INSPECTION. NOR WERE THERE ANY INDICATORS PRIOR TO THEM FAILING TO STOP. THE LADYS JEEP ONLY HAS MINOR SCRATCHES AND THE WHOLE HOOD OF MY ELANTRA IS DESTROYED, THE RADIATOR IS CAVED IN, GRILL IS SMASHED, HEADLIGHT IS GONE. I BELIEVE THE CAR IS TOTALLED. THE DAMAGE IS MOST LIKELY WORTH MORE THAN THE CAR. I NEVER EVEN MADE IT PAST THE STOPLIGHT.
