MY SON, [XXX] WAS DRIVING THE CAR. WHILE DECELERATING DOWN FROM 60 MPH ON APPROACH TO BRIDGE TOLL PLAZA, AT ABOUT 40 MPH THE ESC LIGHT CAME ON, THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND THE STEERING BECAME VERY HARD TO WORK. WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY OUT OF NOWHERE OUR MOON ROOF EXPLODED. I WAS VERY LUCKY GLASS DIDN'T GET IN THE FACE OF MY 3 YEAR OLD GODDAUGHTER WHO WAS IN CAR SEAT IN BACK. I WAS LUCKY AS I WAS CRUISING AROUND FOR A WHILE WITH THE GLASS CLOSED ALL DAY BUT THE SHADE OPEN TO ALLOW SUN. IM NOT SURE WHY I DECIDED TO CLOSE THE SHADE BUT AM VERY LUCKY I DID OR THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN ALOT WORSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TURN SIGNAL INDICATORS AND THE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE WOULD NOT OPERATE WHEN NEEDED. IN ADDITION, THE ECM WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHEN THE FAILURES OCCURRED. ALSO, WHEN THE CONTACT REPLACED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TURN SIGNAL BULB, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE BULB ALSO FAILED TO OPERATE. FURTHERMORE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH BRAKE LIGHTS BEGAN TO FAIL AFTER THE BULBS WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ECM FAILED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V113000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, EXTERIOR LIGHTING), WHICH LISTED THE SAME FAILURES SHE WAS EXPERIENCING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 185,000.
WHENEVER I NEED TO MAKE TURNS OR PARK AT A SLOWER SPEED I LOSE MY POWER STEERING AND IT IS GETTING WORSE. WHEN I TALKED TO A HYUNDAI DEALER THEY MENTIONED THEY HAVE DONE A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING BUT MY VIN NUMBER WASN'T INCLYDED.
ACCELERATOR STUCK WHILE MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY, VEHICLE WAS GOING 85 MPH WHEN I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND USED BRAKES TO STOP. THE ENGINE CONTINUED "RACING" AFTER STOPPING AND STOPPED ONLY AFTER I SHUT OFF THE IGNITION. NOW ALSO HAPPENS WHEN ACCELERATING ON CITY STREETS. EXTREME DANGER IF SOMEONE DRIVING HAS THIS HAPPEN AND PANICS.
HYUNDAI RECALLS SANTA FE FOR ALTERNATOR OIL LEAK.SANTA FE CROSSOVER TO FIX AN OIL LEAK, CAUSED BY A FAULTY VALVE COVER GASKET, THAT COULD AFFECT ALTERNATOR PERFORMANCE..DEALER SAID THEY WONT HONOR THE RECALL CAUSE ITS OUT OF WARRANTY.ALSO THE COIL WAS NOT REPLACED AND A RECALL WAS SENT OUT ALSO ON COIL SPRING. THE WONT HONOR THAT.
DRIVING AT 60MPH THE ESC OFF LIGHT APPEARED AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A 5MHP SLOW DOWN QUICKLY AND THE STEERING WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AS IF THE ENGINE HAD DIED. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A LOGGING TRUCK. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM
TAKATA RECALL: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED. SEVERAL YEARS OF SANTA FE HAVE BEEN RECALLED. WHEN CHECKING MY VIN, NO RECALL APPEARS. IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE OTHER YEARS.
THERE IS AN INCORRECT RECALL NOTICE ON MY VEHICLE FOR A TRAILER HITCH WIRING HARNESS. I DO NOT HAVE A HITCH OR HARNESS. PLEASE REMOVE THIS RECALL NOTICE.
The contact's daughter owns a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that her daughter informed her that the vehicle stalled while driving at various speeds and also while the vehicle was idling. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced tire failures with the vehicle despite having the front-end aligned. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had been taken to a certified mechanic who aligned the wheels and replaced the tires. The contact was unsure if any other repairs had been performed on the vehicle. The failure had persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
BRAKE LIGHTS REMAIN ON, STABILITY CONTROL IS TURNED OFF AND CRUISE CONTROL DOESN'T WORK. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO VEHICLES FOLLOWING, A LACK OF VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL, AN INABILITY TO MAINTAIN A CONSTANT SPEED ON THE FREEWAY. THERE HAS BEEN A HISTORIC RECALL ON THIS ISSUE - BUT NOT FOR THIS SPECIFIC VIN. THIS VEHICLE OBVIOUSLY IS USING THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART. BATTERY RUNS DOWN AND VEHICLE WON'T START UNLESS BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED (DUE TO BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINING ON)
ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AND THE FUEL NEEDLE STAYS ON EMPTY AFTER THE TANK IS FULL.
TAKATA RECALL : I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY MY AIRBAGS DO NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED OR ARE NOT LISTED FOR RECALL. IN THE SUMMERTIME THIS VEHICLE SITS IN 90 TO 100 OF A TEMPERATURES WITH THE AIRBAG BEING EXPOSED TO THIS HIGH HEAT.. WHEN I DO A VIN SEARCH THE ONLY THING THAT COMES UP IS A RECALL FOR THE HARNESS HITCH WHICH HAS NOT BEEN PERFORMED TO MY VEHICLE BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE A TOW HITCH ON IT.
FRONT CORNER OF VALVE COVER IS LEAKING OIL ONTO MY ALTERNATOR CAUSING IT TO BECOME SATURATED WITH OIL AND ELECTRICAL SHUTDOWN. THE SAME OIL IS SPREADING ALL AROUND MY DRIVE BELT FROM THE ALTERNATOR AND SATURATING ALL PULLIES AND THE ENTIRE DRIVE BELT AS WELL. I AM HAVING PROBLEMS CHARGING MY BATTERY ELECTRICAL SHUTDOWNS ON THE HIGHWAY AND WITH OTHER COMPONENTS SUCH AS STEERING, A/C AND BELT NOT WANTING TO GRIP THE PULLIES THAT IT RIDES ON. VERY DANGEROUS. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS SIMULAR TO THE SAME EXACT ENGINE ON THE HYUNDAI CROSSOVER THAT HAS THE SAME ENGINE TYPE BUT WAS RECALLED TO FIX. WHY ARE SANTA FE OWNERS LEFT OUT OF THIS RECALL IF IT IS THE SAME EXACT ENGING AS THE CROSSOVER THAT WAS RECALLED AND FIXED.
TAKATA RECALL THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TAKATA INFLATORS HAD MY HYNDAI CHECKED OUT AT A GARAGE. TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT ON IT. ONLY HAVE 161000 MILES ON IT. THE FUEL SENSOR ALSO MESSED UP ON IT, DOES NOT READ RIGHT. HAVE TO GO BY THE ODOMETER TO BE ABLE TELL HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE IN IT. I THINK IT SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS YEAR AND MODEL FOR THESE TWO THINGS.HAVE ALWAYS TOOK CARE OF MY VEHICLES, NEVER DROVE THEM HARD. JUST ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED GOING OUT! THIS HAS REALLY DISAPPOINTED ME IN A HYNDAI. ALL THIS SHOULDN'T BE GOING WRONG WITH IT FOR TBE YEAR, MILES AND VEHICLE. IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED! THIS IS A EXPENSIVE VEHICLE! HMMM (AND THEY CALL IT A UNLIMITED EDITION)! I WAS GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT GOT UP TO 40 MPH AND IT WOULD NOT GO IN OVER DRIVE. ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
PLASTIC INSIDE DOOR HANDLES FATIQUED AND SNAPPED OFF PREVENTING DOOR FROM BEING OPENED FROM INSIDE! (SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE) HOW DO YOU GET OUT OF THE CAR IF YOU CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR?
I KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON WITH IT
THE HEADLGHTS ON LOW BEAM BLOCK OUT THE TOP 1/3 OF THE HEADLIGHT BEAM AND 2/3 OF THE HEADLIGHT BEAM WHEN THE CAR IS GOING DOWN HILL. THIS EYEBROW EFFECT IS NOT SHOWING WHEN THE HIGH BEAMS ARE ON. IN ADDITION WHEN THE LOW BEAMS ARE IN USE, THE MYVISION ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR IS BLOCKED OUT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT WHICH HYUNDAI WILL NOT ADDRESS CLAMING THERE IS NO FIX SINCE THE LIGHTS ARE PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. AT THIS POINT IN TIME THEY DO NOT OFFER A REMADY. THIS EYEBROW EFFECT APPEARS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION BUT ONLY ON THE LOW BEAMS.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER A PROFESSIONAL RESET BRAKES LIGHT WONT GO OFF UNLESS I UNHOOK THE BATTERY
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE (P0504) REVEALED THAT IT WAS THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON
EXCESSIVE RUST RIGHT REAR TRAILING ARM AT SUBFRAME - IS ESSENTIALLY RUSTED TO THE POINT IF THIS JOINT FAILS IT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS WE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS PART OF A HYUNDAI RECALL CAMPAIGN 947 WEN WE CALLED THE DEALER AND HYUNDAI. SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT AT DEALER TO HAVE CHECKED, TAKE PICTURES,ORDER PARTS AND REPAIRED
WE HAVE A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE LIMITED V6 3.3L WITH ~80K MILES THAT SUFFERED AN ALTERNATOR FAILURE WHILE DRIVING YESTERDAY 8/14: CAR LOST ALL POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND STALLED... HOPEFULLY WITHOUT MUCH TRAFFIC AROUND. WE THOUGHT IT WAS A BATTERY PROBLEM, SO WE GOT A NEW BATTERY BUT PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. WE CHECKED TO SEE IF OTHERS HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND FOUND THERE WAS A SANTA FE 2007'S RECALL ON A VALVE GASKET IN 2016. NOW, IT SEEMS OUR OLD HYUNDAI DEALER CHANGED IT DURING THE 60K MAINTENANCE (WE DIDN'T RECEIVE A NOTICE OR WERE TOLD ABOUT IT AT THAT TIME, ALTHOUGH TODAY WE FOUND THEY DID IT IN 2016 B/C WE WERE INFORMED ABOUT THAT IN THE DEALER THIS MORNING). IN ANY CASE, WE TOWED THE CAR TO A CLOSER HYUNDAI DEALER (CAR WOULD NOT MOVE EVEN AFTER BATTERY JUMP) AND THEY BASICALLY TOLD US THE REPLACED GASKET DIDN'T WORK AND IMPACTED THE ALTERNATOR. PROBLEM IS, THE CAR IS 11 YEARS OLD AND IS 'OUT OF WARRANTY'. THEY ARE 'CHECKING WITH CORPORATE' WHETHER THEY SHOULD CHARGE US FULL PRICE FOR THE REPAIR ($1700) EVEN IF THE PROBLEM IS -MORE THAN LIKELY- RELATED TO THAT RECALL... SO, MY QUESTION: SINCE THE PROBLEM THAT THE WORK DONE IN 2016 SHOULD FIX STILL HAPPENED, AM I STILL COVERED BY THAT RECALL? DO FREE-COST RECALLS END WITH THE WARRANTY (10-YR) FOR THE CAR? THE SUB FRAME THAT'S HOLDING THE ENGINE IS RUSTING APART ALMOST MISSING A HUGE PART OF IT WHICH IS A CAUSE FOR CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF ME AND MY CHILDREN. ESPECIALLY BEING THAT I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THIS ISSUE UPON PURCHASING THIS AS A "CERTIFIED VEHICLE". ONLY HAD IT FOR ONE YEAR.
IN 3 INCIDENTS I BACKED THE CAR OUT OF PARKING SPOT, THEN FORWARD DOWN THE LANE AND RIGHT TURN AT THE END OF THE LANE, THE STEERING LOCKED AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. IN PANIC, I BRAKED, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND BACK IN DRIVE AND I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE STEERING. A 4TH INCIDENT OCCURRED AFTER I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR A WHILE AND I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO THE GROCERY STORE. ALL 4 TIMES HAPPENED TURNING RIGHT, AND ALL 4 I HAD TO BRAKE, PUT IN PARK, THEN DRIVE. TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP, NOT HELPFUL, IF THEY CAN'T RECREATE THE PROBLEM THEY CAN'T FIX. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THEY SAID HYUNDAI'S APPROACH IS TO NOT REPLACE PARTS BUT FIRST RECREATE ISSUE. DOESN'T IT SEEM LIKE THIS IS SOMETHING RELATED TO STEERING WHEEL. ALL OCCURRED IN MONTH OF JUNE 2018.
THE GAS GAS DOES NOT WORK, THEY SAID IT WAS THE FUEL LEVEL SENSORS. THIS IS A GREAT DANGER AS I RAN OUT OF GAS AT A HIGH SPEED WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD SON IN THE CAR. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. AFTER THIS HAPPENED I HAVE READ A TON OF OTHER COMMENTS REPORTING THE SAME THING, HYUNDAI SHOULD BE ASHAMED THEY HAVEN'T CORRECTED THIS ISSUE!
"TAKATA RECALL" MY CAR CONSTANTLY HAS THE ESC OFF LIGHT COME ON WHILE I'M DRIVING. I CAN BE GOING 5 MILES PER HOUR OR 60 MILES PER HOUR. I CAN BE IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD OR RIDING ON THE INTERSTATE. I WAS SITTING STILL THE OTHER DAY AND THE LIGHT CAME ON CAUSING ME TO NOT BE ABLE TO HIT THE GAS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A WEEK NOW, SINCE 05/14/18.
VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY DOES NOT TURN ON WITHOUGHT CYCLING OF THE SHIFTER FROM PARK TO DRIVE REPEATEDLY. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO A REPUTABLE ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS A BAD SHIFTER CABLE. HE ALSO STATED THIS WAS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLE.
I HAD JUST GOTTEN ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE CAR STARTED AND CONTINUED ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. I HAD THE WIPERS GOING; CRUISE WAS NOT TURNED ON OR SET, THERE WAS NOTHING OBSTRUCTING BRAKE OR ACCELERATOR PETALS. I TURNED THE LIGHTS TO AUTO THEN DOWN TO RUNNING LIGHTS THEN TO THE ON POSITION. JUST AT THAT MOMENT WHEN I PUT THE LIGHTS IN THE ON POSITION IS WHEN IT TOOK OVER THE ACCELERATOR. I TRIED STEPPING ON THE BREAK AND IT DID NOTHING AS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I MADE IT TO THE OFF RAMP TO GET OFF THE INTERSTATE IMMEDIATELY. I TRIED TURNING CRUISE ON THEN OFF AND DOWN SHIFTING. THEN I PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND IT STOPPED ACCELERATING BUT I STILL COULD NOT BRAKE. I STARTED TO PUSH ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND WE STARTED TO SLOW DOWN UNTIL WE COASTED INTO A GAS STATION AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND WAS TOWED TO A GARAGE. I CALLED HYUNDAI SERVICE AND THEY TOLD ME IF NOTHING IS FOUND OR IT CAN'T BE FIXED THAT I SHOULD CONTACT CONSUMER AFFAIRS. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OVER 50 COMPLAINTS FOR THIS SAME THING. APPARENTLY THIS HAS TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT THE THROTTLE CONTROL IS DRIVEN BY THE COMPUTER/ELECTRIC. BECAUSE OF THIS SOMETHING LIKE A POWER SURGE HAPPENS THAT CAUSES THE ACCELERATION AND THE BRAKES TO NOT WORK. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO ME WITH MORE TRAFFIC, I WOULD HAVE CRASHED. IT APPEARS TO BE FINE NOW BUT I UNDERSTAND IT IS INTERMITTENT AND CAN'T BE DUPLICATED; THEREFORE, HYUNDAI WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. BUT IT DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT THIS CAUSES ACCIDENTS AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE MY OWN VEHICLE. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE ESC UNIT. I CAN BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE RIGHT HAND FRONT BREAK WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN AT RADIUM GRAB AND JERK THE CAR TO THE RIGHT. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 35 TO 70 MPH. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP 3 OR 4 TIME TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED AND HAVE SPENT $1,300.00 AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T FIXED THE PROBLEM. I AM BEING TOLD WE DON'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. WE NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN AND I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT IT DOESN'T HAPPEN WHEN IN A SITUATION THAT IT CAUSES SOMEONE TO GET HURT OR KILLED. I HAVE ASKED THAT EITHER DISCONNECT THE ESC SYSTEM OR REVERSE IT SO THAT IT IS NOT ON UNTIL YOU NEED IT AND THE HYUNDAI SERVICE PEOPLE SAY THAT CAN'T BE DONE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT IS CORRECT BUT THEY ARE THE SMART PEOPLE ON THE CAR. I WILL TELL YOU THIS IF THIS PROBLEM CAUSES AN ACCIDENT THAT SOMEONE GETS HURT I WILL BE SEEKING AN ATTORNEY AND NOTIFYING THE INSURANCE OF THE PROBLEM AND THE FACT THAT HYUNDAI HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE SOUND MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR THE DRIVER TO CONCENTRATE ON THE ROAD. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FRED BEANS HYUNDAI (1106 E LINCOLN HWY, LANGHORNE, PA 19047), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC THE REASON WAS MY FUEL SENSOR IS NOT WORKING. MY GAS GAUGE DOES NOT TELL ME HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE CAR. THE REPAIR WOULD BE COSTLY AND REQUIRES THE REMOVAL OF THE GAS TANK. DUE TO THIS DEFECT, MY CAR WILL NOT PASS MD EMISSIONS TESTING. THE GAS GAUGE WORKS INTERMITTENTLY TO LET ME KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE CAR SO I NEED TO MONITOR HOW MANY MILES BETWEEN FILL UPS IN ORDER TO NOT RUN OUT OF GAS. IT OPERATES SPORADICALLY WHILE MOVING OR STOPPED.
THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VALVE COVER GASKET AS ITS POOR DESIGN CAUSED IT TO FAIL AND LEAK INTO THE ALTERNATOR CAUSING THE ALTERNATOR TO EVENTUALLY FAIL. I'VE HAD IT REPLACED TWICE AND THE THIRD GASKET HAS FAILED AND IS LEAKING INTO THE ALTERNATOR ONCE AGAIN. HYUNDAI HAS FAILED TO CREATE A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE AND SHOULD CONTINUE TO REPLACE THE GASKET AND ALTERNATOR IF NECESSARY UNTIL THEY DO.

ALSO, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED NAPLETON HYUNDAI (3703 NORTH LAKE BLVD, LAKE PARK, FL 33403, 888-691-9402), BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR STOPPED WORKING SO CAN NO LONGER TELL HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE CAR. IT CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. I AM MANUALLY HAVING TO TRACK HOW MANY MILES I HAVE TRAVELED SINCE LAST FILL UP. THIS IS COMPLETELY FRUSTRATING IF NOT UNSAFE BASED ON THE FACT THAT I SEE THAT NUMEROUS HYUNDAI SANTA FE OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS SAME ISSUE. PLEASE CONSIDER ASKING FOR A RECALL ON THIS.
CRANKSHAFT HARMONIC BALANCER BROKE APART WHICH CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL: ( OF THE STEERING, BRAKES, LIGHTING, ETC. ) THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT A VERY LOW SPEED WHILE TURNING INTO A DRIVEWAY! FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY STOP AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE WHICH PREVENTED EXCESSIVE DAMAGE FROM SHRAPNEL. IF THIS OCCURRED AT THE INTERSTATE SPEEDS, IT COULD HAVE PROVED CATASTROPHIC FOR MYSELF, PASSENGERS AND OTHER HIGHWAY TRAVELERS. MY CHECKING ONLINE DISCLOSED THERE ARE MANY OCCURRENCES OF THIS NATURE! UNFORTUNATELY I DID NOT TAKE PHOTOS.
I BOUGHT TGIS CAR IN DEC.2017 FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP..SHOETLY AFTER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME DAYS LATER BROUGHT THE CAR BACK AND THE SALESMAN/OWNER SAID ITS THE GAS CAP..CAME ON 3 MORE TIMES..THEY KEPT SAYING ITS THE GAS CAP..WELL I TIGGTEN THAT CAP TILL IT CANT TURN.ANOTHER THING THE BACK END OF THE CAR MAKES BUMOING NOISES ESPECIALLY GOING OVER A BUMP!! IT FEELS LIKE BACK ENDS GOING TO FALL OFF..LAST WEEK MY W YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER WAS SITTING IN HER CARSEAT BEHIND THE DRIVERSIDE,I WAS IN PASSENGER SEAT AND I HEARD A THUMP.I LOOKED MY GRANDDAUGHTER LOOKED SCARED..UHOH SHE SAYS.SHE DIDNT DROP ANYTHING..THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT THE BACK OF IT FELL OFF!! WTH!!!

ESC IS INTERMITTENTLY TURNING ITSELF OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHEN I AM DRIVING. HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN I FIRST START DRIVING AND AM AT A VERY LOW SPEED, BUT ALSO HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHER SPEEDS AT TIMES. ONLY WAY TO TURN IT BACK ON IS TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RE-START. IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY OVER THE LAST WEEK (ALMOST A DAILY OCCURRENCE).
FUEL GAGE ALWAYS CHANGES LEVELS. CONSTANTLY MAKING THE LOW GAS LIGHT TO TURN ON EVEN AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK UP AT THE GAS STATION. ITS VERY DANGEROUS TO NOT KNOW WHERE YOU GAS LEVEL IS WHEN MANY USE THE SANTA FE AS THEIR FAMILY CAR TO TRANSPORT THEIR CHILDREN. ITS BEEN HAPPENING THE PAST WEEK
SOMETIMES WHEN I MAKE A LEFT OR IGHT TURN, THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN. THIS ISN'T THE ONLY ISSUE BUT THE CAR TURNS OFF AND THE STEERING LOCKS. IM NOT ABLE TO TURN OR STOP. THIS HAPPENS WHEN IM AT A VERY SLOW SPEED WHILE TURNING. IT HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. I WENT ONLINE AND IT WAS MANY COMPLIANTS AND REVIEWS ON THE 2003 TO 2006 MODELS. IM REALLY AFRAID THIS CAN CAUSE A COLLISION. IM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO HAD ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE AND MADE A TURN ON A STREET WHILE STEERING. SOMEONE NEED TO INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. I HAD OTHER RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE IN THE PAST.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CAREY MOTORS (3204 FRUITVALE BLVD, YAKIMA, WA 98902), BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO RUN TESTS AT THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
ESC OFF LIGHT COMES ON THEN VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN TO 20 MPH AND WILL NOT SPEED UP. MUST PARK TURN ENGINE OFF TO GET TO GO AGAIN. NO LONGER WORKS.
IN 8/2015 WE EXPERIENCED AN OCCURRENCE OF SUDDEN, UNINTENDED ACCELERATION ON A CITY STREET WHILE DRIVING. MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY HARD BRAKING AND SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF. SHE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME AND WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM: "...CHECKED AND FOUND VEHICLE THROTTLE BODY TO HAVE A POOR RESPONCE (SIC)." THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY FOR A CHARGE OF $597.94, INFORMING ME THAT IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE 10 YEAR/100,000 MILE WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM RECURRED TODAY (7/14/2015), AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. WHEN I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER TO REPORT THE INCIDENT I WAS TOLD TO DROP THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEY'D LOOK AT IT. I'LL HAVE IT TOWED IN TO THE SHOP, AS THIS IS NOT A CONDITION WITH WHICH I'D NOT CARE TO DRIVE. THE FACT THAT THIS CONDITION RECURRED INDICATES THAT THE PROBLEM IS GENERIC IN NATURE, AND THAT HYUNDAI IS NOT CONSIDERING IT EITHER GENERIC OR SERIOUS ENOUGH TO ADDRESS. I BELIEVE THAT THERE WILL BE OTHER VEHICLES EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE NOW THAT THE "FLEET" OF HYUNDAI SANTA FE SUVS IS AGING BUT STILL IN SERVICE. I BELIEVE THAT IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT HYUNDAI ADDRESS THE ISSUE SYSTEMATICALLY BEFORE SERIOUS INJURIES OCCUR.
APPROXIMATELY 2015 THE FUEL LEVEL SENSORS BEGAN MALFUNCTIONING AND THEN FAILED COMPLETELY WITHIN A FEW WEEKS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CONSTANTLY SHOW AN EMPTY FUEL LIGHT EVEN WHEN FULL. IN 2017 AT SOME THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR BRAKE CALIPER BRACKET PINS SEIZED WITH NO NOTICEABLE DRIVING DIFFERENCE UNTIL DRIVERS SIDE REAR ROTOR BEGAN TO FAIL. I DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITH ONLY 1 REAR BRAKE. HYUNDAI DOESN'T SELL THE PARTS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE WHOLE CALIPER MUST BE PURCHASED NOT JUST THE DEFECTIVE PARTS.
MY ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON AFTER REPLACING THE FUEL SENSOR 2 TIMES AND FUEL PUMP I DO NOT EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH GAS IS IN MY CAR BECAUSE THE GAUGE IS NOT CORRECT. NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON IT FAILED THE E CHECK ?????? THERE HAS BEEN THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM
THERE'S BEEN ISSUES WITH THE FUEL PUMP AND PRESSURE GAUGE. WE'VE ALREADY HAD THIS PROBLEM REPAIRED 4 TIMES AND STILL SUSPECT THERE'S A LEAK SOMEWHERE. WE CAN SMELL GAS IN THE VEHICLE WHILE/AFTER PUMPING AND AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN. ALSO, THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE HEADLIGHTS WHEN PRESSING ON THE BRAKES, WHILE DRIVING.
THE GAS SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING. CAUSE THE TANK TO SHOW OUT OF GAS WHEN THERE IS AT LEAST A HALF A TANK IN IT. THIS HAS ALSO CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON AND OFF WHENEVER IT WANTS TO. I WOULD TRAVEL TO GET IT CHECK ONLY FOR THE LIGHT TO BE OFF. I AM UNABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE WITH OUT FILLING UP MY TANK EVERY COUPLE OF DAY TO ENSURE THAT I ACTUALLY HAVE GAS. IT IS CAUSING THE CAR TO BE SLOW IN STARTING AFTER A LIGHT OR WHEN TRYING TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC, HITTING THE GAS DOES NOT REALLY DO MUCH. IT'S A DANGER ON THE ROAD. IN DOING A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH WHILE TRYING TO DETERMINE WHAT THE ISSUE MIGHT BE - IT SEEMS THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD AND KNOWN HYUNDAI PROBLEM THAT HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED BECUASE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A LOSS OF LIFE. IT SHOULDN'T HAVE OT GET THAT FAR TO PREVENT WHAT IS AN OBVIOUS AND WIDESPREAD ISSUE.
ON A JUNE 3, 2017, WE WERE EXITING THE HIGHWAY. DURING THE TURN IN TRAFFIC, THE CAR SLOWLY LOST ALL POWER. ALL OF THE LIGHTS LIT UP AND THE SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAUGE AND RPM INDICATORS WERE MOVING BACK AND FORTH. WE WERE ABLE TO GLIDE TO THE LIGHT IN TRAFFIC AND MAKE IT TO A PARKING LOT SAFELY. I AM SO GLAD WE DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT!! MY HUSBAND SHIFTED THE GEAR TO PARK AND THE CAR RESTARTED WITH NO PROBLEMS. WE WILL BE TAKING IT TO A HYUNDAI DEALER BECAUSE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING. IS THERE A RECALL PUT THERE? THIS WAS OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE LIKE THIS WITH THE CAR.
I GOT A LETTER FOR A RECALL FOR UNDERBODY CORROSION PREVENTATIVE CARE, HOWEVER WHEN I TOOK TO THE DEALER TO GET THIS DONE, THE UNDERCARRIGE/UNDERBODY WAS ALREADY TOO CORROTED/DAMAGED AND HYUNDAI IS NOT WILLING TO FIX IT, INSTEAD THEY ARE TRYING TO OFFER ME $4,800 WHICH WILL NOT BUY ME A NEW SUV CAR. AND THIS IS DUE TO A MANUFATURE DEFFECT.
