MY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR WENT OUT AT 70,000 MILES AND LEFT ME STRANDED ALONG A BUSY EXPRESSWAY WITH A 1 YEAR OLD. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. THIS ITEM SHOULD DEFINITELY BE RECALLED, PLEASE NOTIFY HYUNDAI. THANK YOU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE AND THE ESC WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE ESC WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKES ENGAGED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR A YEAR AGO AND THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING WAS UP TO DATE. THERE WAS A RECALL BACK IN 2008 ON THE TRAILER HITCH THAT WASN'T FIXED AND SOMETHING ABOUT THE AIR BAGS. ALSO THE DID PLAYER FOR THE TV ISN'T PLAYING ANYTHING.
THIS MODEL VEHICLE HAS THE FOLLOWING ISSUE REPORTED - SEE INTERNET SITES - ALL TOO OFTEN AND HYUNDAI HAS TAKEN NO REMEDIAL ACTION. TOGETHER WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THE FUEL GAUGE IS VERY ERRATIC DUE TO SENSORS FAILING IN THE FUEL TANK THAT SENDS THE FUEL LEVEL READING TO THE DASHBOARD FUEL GAUGE. IN ADDITION TO BEING A COSTLY CONSUMER REPAIR DUE TO THE MANUFACTURER DEFECT; THIS IS VERY PROBABLY A SAFETY ISSUE IN THAT WITHOUT A RELIABLE FUEL INDICATOR ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER THE VEHICLE OPERATOR COULD EASILY, UNKNOWINGLY, RUN OUT OF FUEL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF THOSE IN THE SUV BEING INJURED OR WORSE. THIS PROBLEM EXISTS WHENEVER THE SUV IS BEING DRIVEN ON A ROADWAY AS WELL AS WHEN PARKED WITH THE ENGINE ON OR RUNNING. THIS SUV ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES ON IT.
FUEL SENSORS FAILED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $550.. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND THE FUEL GAUGE LIGHT WENT ON INDICATING THE WAS NO FUEL, BUT THE GAS TANK WAS FULL. THE FUEL GAUGE DIAL INDICATOR ALSO DROPPED TO DOWN TO ZERO AND IS INCONSISTENT WITH THE READING. SOMETIMES IT GOES UP AND THEN IT DROPS. THIS HAS BEEN A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED BY MANY HYUNDAI OWNERS. THE SERVICE TECHS ARE WELL AWARE A PROBLEM EXISTS. NO OTHER CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED HAS HAD THIS COSTLY PROBLEM. HYUNDAI SHOULD FORCED TO DO A RECALL.
MY SANTA FE ESC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WENT INTO A "LIMP MODE". IT SLOWED DOWN TO 10 MPH AND WOULDN'T LET ME ACCELERATE. I PULLED OVER AND I COULD FEEL THE ENGINE SPUTTERING. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED A MINUTE, TURNED THE ENGINE BACK ON AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. HAPPENED THE NEXT DAY AS WELL , NOW WHEN I DRIVE WHETHER ITS A COLD START OR AFTER 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE. I TOOK IT TO TE DEALER AND $350 DOLLARS LATER IHAD THE PROBLEM FIXED, TURNED OUT TO BE A THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT I FEEL NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY HYUNDAI IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED OR KILLED. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED TO ME I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE EARLY IN THE MORNING AND I WAS TRAVELLING ON THE INSIDE LANE AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY OR MY WIFE AND I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED.
GAS GAGE IS NOT WORKING, I HAVE TO ALWAYS FILL MY TANK UP I NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE IN MY TANK. I HAVE RAN OUT OF GAS SEVERAL TIMES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I HAVE RAN OUT OF GAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AREAS. I'VE CHECKED ALL THE FUSES AND THEY ALL WORK.
THE LEFT SUN VISOR BROKE AT THE TOP OF THE ARM AND CAN'T BE FIXED WITHOUT REPLACING THE WHOLE THING. WHEN I RESEARCHED IT THERE WERE HUMOROUS COMPLAINTS. IT FALLS DOWN AND HANGS IN FRONT OF MY FACE AS I'M TRYING TO DRIVE. IT'S INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE IN MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH IT FOR A LONG TIME AS I DON'T HAVE THE $400 THAT THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME TO FIX IT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR OPENED, SWAYED FROM SIDE TO SIDE, AND FAILED TO LOCK BACK IN PLACE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. ONE DAY LATER, THE VISOR COMPLETELY FRACTURED FROM THE ATTACHMENT POINT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VISOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW VISOR RELEASED & FLOPPED UP 7 BACK IN FRONT OF DRIVERS FACE-UNABLE TO SEAT VISOR AS SOMETHING BROKE IN ATTACHMENT TO PIVOT PONT.HAD TO DRIVE HOLDING UP WITH ONE HAND AS HORRIBLE DISTRACTION FRON ROAD. TRIED HOLDING UP ON RETURN TRIP BACK TO MD-DIDNT WORK.GOING UP NICE BRIDGE & FACING 30-40 CARS COMING DOWN TOWARDS ME-ENTIRE VISOR FAILED & WENT DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF MY FACE BEFORE COULD GRAB & GET OUT OF MY VISION.ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR.WENT TO DEALER & TOLD OF SAFETY HAZARD & WAS TOLD BY DEALER OWNER-NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SAFETY ITEM AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED. HAD MECH GO ONLINE TO LOOK GETTING ME A NEW VISER. HE SAID-HIS RESEARCH REVEALED WIDESPREAD DRIVERS VISOR FAILURES IN 2006-2007-& 2008 SANTFE-ELANTRA & SONNATA.IN FACT ONE AFTER MARKER SUPPLIER HAD SOLD OVER 400 VISORS IN THOSE YEARS SONATAS.FRIEND AT CHURCH HAD SAME FILURE EXCEPT HIS WAS "INSTANTANEOUS & BLOCKED HIS VISION. ALL OTHER FOLKS I HAF TALKED TO SAY THEY HAVE NEVER HAD A VISOR FAIL IN ANY CAR IN THEIR LIFETIME INCLUDING CARS WITH OVER 200000 MILES. WHEN EXAMINING MY VISOR AFTER THE TRIP-THE DEFECT IS READILY OBVIOUS-THE PART HOLDING THE VISOR ON THE PIVOT SIDE IS MADE OF A VERY THIN PLASTIC OR COMPOSITE. IVE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 60 YEARS-NAVY TEST PILOT FOR OVER 20 YEARS & SR MEMBER OF SEVERAL AVIATION CRSHES IN THE NAVY & OFTEN "LITTLE THINGS" ARE OFTEN THE CAUSE OF CRASHES. ORIGINALLT TRIED REPORTING THIS OVER PHONE TO NICE LADY ON HOT LINE BUT OBVIOSLY-SEVERITY OF INCIDENT WASNT TRANSMITTED FORWARD. IT APPEARS THE RESOLUTION WAS ONLY FILED AS A COMPLAINT FOR A DATA BASE.THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED AS A VISABILITY WIPER -& A DRIVERS SUN VISER. DOES NOT WIPE. SOOO WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SOME ONE OPEN THIS TO INVESTIGATIVE STATUS BEFORE SOME GETS KILLED.THE OTHER GENTLEMAN WHO HAD THIS HORRIBLE & SCARY FAILURE ARE BOTH WILLING TO GIVE SWORN TESTIMONY AS WE KNOW THIS IS SAFETY.[XXX]. SENSORS -ARE BAD. HAVE TO TURN OFF ESC TO KEEP FROM ABS PULLING ME OFF THE ROAD. FEELS LIKE BRAKES ARE FALLING OUT. SOMEONE ELSE I SAW SAID SHE HAD SAME ISSUE. I PAID OVER $2,000 TO GET BRAKES FIXED AT DEALERSHIP-NEVER FIXED ISSUE. I TURN OFF BUTTON ONLY GIVE ME A CHANCE TO DRIVE.
BOUGHT THE CAR USED, 2007 SANTA FE WITH 71K MILES ON IT. 2 MONTHS AFTER I GOT THE VEHICLE, THE ESC OFF LIGHT STARTED INTERMITTENTLY COMING ON. THEN ONE DAY IT STAYED ON AND THAT SAME DAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I NOTICED THE NEXT DAY THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE AND THAT MY CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT ENGAGE AT ALL. THE ESC OFF LIGHT WILL NOT BE ON WHEN I FIRST GET IN THE CAR, BUT THE MINUTE I HIT THE BRAKES, IT COMES ON AND STAYS ON. EVER SINCE THE FIRST DAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, IT HAS STAYED ON SINCE. I BELIEVE THIS MAY BE PART OF AN EARLIER RECALL, BUT MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE DID NOT FALL UNDER THAT RECALL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE FROM THE PARK POSITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT. WHILE AT A COMPLETED STOP, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY ANOTHER MOTORIST THAT THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT ILLUMINATING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 13V113000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC), 09V122000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) OR 11V472000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.

I OWN A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT, ENGINE CHECK LIGHT, THE ELECTRIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) LIGHT , ABS AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED STEADILY ON THE DASH, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED ON. THE GAS GAUGE SOMETIMES WORKS EVEN WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURES WERE NOT RECALL RELATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES BUT RESTATED THE POSITION OF THE DEALER, OFFERING NO HELP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MAKE AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE FORWARD AND WOULD ONLY MOVE BACKWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOSE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000.
SMELL OF FUEL IN PASSENGER CABIN WHEN YOU FILL UP. FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT SHOW THE CORRECT FUEL LEVEL ALONG WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A BUSY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FREEWAY AT 65 MPH, THE POST SECURING THE VISOR TO THE HEADLINER BROKE FREE, LEAVING THE VISOR HANGING DIRECTLY IN MY FIELD OF VISION. I DIDN'T EVEN TOUCH THE VISOR, IT FELL FROM THE VIBRATION OF TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD. IT HAS HAPPENED OTHER TIMES AS WELL, INCLUDING ON A DANGEROUS MOUNTAIN ROAD.
WHEN SITTING IN A TRAFFIC JAM CAR STARTING JUMPING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO TURN OFF TRAFFIC STARTED TO MOVE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR SEEMED LIKE IT WAS CHOKING THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON I MADE IT TO THE CAR SHOP THEY PUT IT ON THE MACHINE THEY SAID IT WAS A COIL PACK AND THIS YEAR SANTA FE WAS KNOWN FOR THIS PROBLEM GOT IT FIX AND THEY CAR STILL SHAKES LIKE IT WANTS TO TURN OFF IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY THE VIBRATION WHEN AT A STILL MODE IS SO ANNOYING HYUNDAI KNOWS THIS PROBLEM EXISTS WHY DONT THEY RECALL THEM I JUST WISH I COULD FIND THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT HONESTLY IT IS ANNOYING WORRYING IF THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF AND LEAVE ME STUCK SOMEWHERE ALONE LATE AT NIGHT BECAUSE I WORK 3 TO 11 PM PLEASE HELP
THE ESC OFF LIGHT COMES ON AND PUSHING THE ON/OFF SWITCH DOES NOT PUT IT OUT. AND THE CAR HAS NO FORWARD MOMENTUM EVEN IF I FLOOR THE GAS PEDAL. IF I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RE START, THE DASH LIGHT GOES OUT SOMETIMES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. IN MOTION ON THE HIWAY
GAS GAGE SAID EMPTY SO I WENT TO PUT GAS IN IT THE PUMP KEPT SHUTTING OFF SO I MOVED AND WENT ANOTHER PUMP I STARTING PUT GAS IN THE CAR AND THE GAS CAME FLYING OUT OF THE CAR POURING ALL OVER ME I WAS SOAKED WITH GAS I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND HERE IT WAS THE GAS SENSOR IT WAS READING EMPTY WHEN ACTUALLY IT WAS FULL THEY HAD TO TAKE THE TANK DOWN AND PUT IN A SENSOR 5 HOURS OF WORK I HAD CARS THAT WERE 20 YEARS OLD OR OLDER AND THEY NEVER DID THIS HYUNDAI NEED'S TO RECALL THIS YEAR BECAUSE I SEE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2007 SANTA FE
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET I MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY TURNED OFF. AFTER PUTTING INTO PARK IT STARTED UP AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE AND THE DEALERSHIP COULD FIND NO PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAD 97K+ ON THE ODOMETER.
CAR MADE RAPID CLICK FAILED TURN SIGNAL SOUND WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT SIGNAL ACTIVATED AND HAPHAZARDLY ACTIVATED LEFT SIGNAL INDEPENDENT OF DRIVER. SIDEOUND STOPPED IF SIGNAL ACTIVATED. AS APPROACHED BUSY TRAFFIC AREA (AIRPORT), STEERING COLUMN STARTED SMOKING AND BURNING SMELL FILLED PASSENGER CABIN. HYUNDAI DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED IS MANUFACTUER SWITCH DEFECT, WITHOUT SAFETY FUSE TO PREVENT FIRE ON OVERHEATING, BUT IS CHARGING $250 TO REPAIR AND KEEPING MY ONLY CAR FOR AT LEAST A WEEK WHILE ORDERING ANOTHER PART (WHICH AS IT IS THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART IS JUST AS LIKELY TO EVENTUALLY FAIL AND RISK A CAR FIRE WHILE DRIVING MY KIDS). DEALER SAYS HYUNDAI ACCEPTS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART. A COMPLAINT 10629458 WAS FILED FOR WHAT SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME DEFECT IN A 2010 SANTA FE WITH SIMILAR ABDICATION OF RESPONSIBILITY BY HYUNDAI. THINGS THAT CAUSE CABIN FIRES SHOULD PROMP A RECALL.
I NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL I HAVE , THE GAGE GOES FROM EMPTY TO FULL AND BACK TO EMPTY IN 5 MINUTES. BACK A FORTH EVERYDAY

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING THE FAILURE IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V122000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
ON THE WAY TO TAKE MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL MY FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. I THOUGHT THIS WAS ODD AS I HAD A HALF A TANK OF GAS WHEN I PARKED IT IN THE GARAGE FOR THE NIGHT. I WENT TO THE GAS STATION FILLED UP THE GAS TANK (IT ONLY TOOL $13.00 TO FILL UP) EVEN THOUGH I KNEW I WASN'T EMPTY. WELL THE VERY NEXT MORNING AGAIN MY GAS LIGHT WAS ON SAYING IT'S EMPTY. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NEVER BEEN ON DURING THIS.
I RECEIVED A SERVICE CAMPAIGN NOTIFICATION RE MY 2007 HYUNDAI SANTE FE AUTO TO INSPECT (& POSSIBLY REPLACE) THE ALTERNATOR & REPLACE THE FRONT VALVE COVER GASKET. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE VAN NUYS CA SERVICE DEPARTMENT. AFTER PERSISTING TO GET AN ANSWER AS TO HOW LONG THE SERVICE WOULD TAKE, I WAS TOLD I COULD EXPECT 2 DAYS. I NEED TRANSPORTATION TO & FROM HYUNDAI. I WAS TOLD THEIR SHUTTLE WOULD ONLY TAKE ME 6 MILES. MY HOME IS 8.2 MILES AWAY. I WAS TOLD I COULD RENT A VEHICLE FOR $30+ PER DAY. MY 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN SO I COULD GET INTO A LEFT HAND TURNING LANE. AS SOON AS I TOUCHED THE BRAKES, THE CAR REVVED UP AND ACCELERATED TO A VERY HIGH SPEED ON ITS OWN. I'M NOT SURE HOW FAST I WAS GOING, BUT FAST ENOUGH TO THROW ME BACK AGAINST THE CAR SEAT AS I RAN THROUGH A RED LIGHT UNABLE TO STOP. I TRIED THE BRAKES AGAIN BUT THEY DIDN'T WORK.. SHIFTING THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL OR ANY OTHER GEAR DID NOTHING TO SLOW OR STOP THE CAR EITHER. I FINALLY REACHED DOWN AND TURNED THE KEY OFF, AT WHICH TIME I LOST MY POWER STEERING. I STEERED INTO AN OPEN FIELD, HIT A FENCE, AND CONTINUED QUITE A WAYS THE CAR WAS STOPPED BY AN INCLINE TO A RAVINE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSIS. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V122000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED SEVERAL TIMES AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING THE FUEL GAUGE DROPPED TO EMPTY. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO CODE READ AT A LOCAL AUTOMOTIVE STORE. THE PRICE OF THERE PART WAS 350. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT A DEALER WILL CHARGE. HE TOLD ME IT WAS A FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS I FOUND LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS SHOULD NOT BE FAILING THIS SOON.
MY FUEL GAGE CHANGES CONSTANTLY. ONE MINUTE SAYING I'M FULL, THE NEXT SAYING IT IS EMPTY WITH THE GAS LIGHT ON. NEXT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, BROUGHT IT TO THE SERVICE CENTER, WHOM STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS WELL OVER A $750 JOB AND A KNOWN HYUNDAI SANTA FE ISSUE. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT HYUNDAI HASN'T RECALLED THIS PART, DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF THIS ISSUE. THIS HAPPENS WHILE BEING STATIONARY AND MOVING. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS NOW.

I WAS TRAVELING TO A FRIEND'S HOUSE ON WYDA WAY IN SACRAMENTO COUNTY. I WAS GETTING READY TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. SUDDENLY, I FELT MY CAR BEING PUSHED FROM BEHIND, AND THEN I HEARD A LOUD ACCELERATION NOISE. RIGHT AFTER THAT MOMENT, MY CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND WOULD NOT STOP. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE ENTIRE TIME AND ALSO TRIED MOVING THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER. IT WOULD NOT MOVE AND THE CAR KEPT ACCELERATING. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE.THE NEXT THING THAT OCCURRED WAS A HORRIBLE COLLISION, RESULTING IN MY CAR HITTING ANOTHER CAR WHICH HIT ANOTHER CAR. I SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES AS WELL AS TWO FATALITIES AND OTHER INJURIES IN THE TWO CARS THAT WERE HIT. I WAS TAKEN TO UC DAVIS HOSPITAL IN SACRAMENTO WHERE I STAYED IN THE ICU FOR TWO DAYS AND THEN FOR AN ADDITIONAL TWO DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL. I WAS DRIVING A RUNAWAY CAR WITH NO WAY TO STOP IT.*BF *JS
ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO THE GAS GAUGE DROPPED TO "E" AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK TO AUTOZONE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. WITH A COST OF $300.AT THAT TIME I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WERE 2 SENDING UNITS. WOW $600. I PUT SOME CLEANER IN THE GAS WHICH HAS HELPED A LITTLE, JUST PROLONGING GETTING IT FIXED. SOMETIMES IT WORKS SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. I WATCHED THE RANGE IN MILES BOUNCE AROUND THE OTHER DAY WHILE DRIVING. I CAN'T PAY $600 TO REPAIR SOME THING IF IT ISN'T COMPLETELY BROKE.

I ENDED UP GOING TO THE GAS STATION AND FILLED THE TANK. MY GUAGE READ FULL FOR A DAY THEN MY GAS LIGHT WENT ON (EMPTY). AS I DROVE THE CAR I NOTICED THE GAS GUAGE SLOWLY RISE TO THE CORRECT READING OF "FULL". THE FLUCTUATION IN THE READINGS ARE CONSTANT. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND CONCERNING TO ME, AS I DRIVE CHILDREN AROUND AND CANNOT RELY ON MY GAS GUAGE TO GIVE ME AN ACCURATE READING. I AM CONSTANTLY GOING TO THE GAS STATION JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT I DO HAVE GAS. THIS ISSUE CAUSED MY ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON AND AS A RESULT CANNOT PASS EMISSIONS UNTIL I GET THIS FIXED.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED IN AUGUST OF 2015 AND WHEN I FILLED THE CAR UP I NOTICED THE FUEL GAUGE DIDN'T READ FULL. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES THE FUEL HAND DROPPED BELOW HALF FULL. I HIT THE TRIP BUTTON TO SEE WHAT THE RANGE DISPLAY WAS REPORTING AND IT WAS DROPPING LIKE A ROCK (STARTED AT 200+ MILES AND DROPPED DOWN TO LESS THAN 100 MILES). THEN A FEW MINUTES AFTER THAT THE EMPTY LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT WITH A P0460. THIS APPEARS TO BE A FREQUENT PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL CAR. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS NOT A RECALL SITUATION. IT IS POSSIBLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS WHILE MOVING (ON EXPRESSWAY) WHICH COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT.
AS I WAS DRIVING, THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR BECAME DETACHED UNEXPECTEDLY AND BLOCKED MY VISION. BECAUSE IT WAS ATTACHED BY A WIRE (FOR THE LIGHTED MIRROR), IT WAS DANGLING AND I HAD TO HOLD IT UP WITH ONE HAND WHILE TRYING TO DRIVE TO A SAFE LOCATION TO PARK. IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO HOLD THE VISOR HIGH ENOUGH OUT OF THE WAY AND BE ABLE TO DRIVE. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, ESPECIALLY IF I HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT A FASTER SPEED, OR CORNERING. RECALL THESE VISORS BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED!

WHILE DRIVING THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR CAME LOOSE AND DROPPED IN FRONT OF MY FACE CAUSING LOSS OF VISIBILITY. THE PLASTIC HUB THAT HOLDS THE VISOR SHAFT INTO THE CEILING OF THE CAR BROKE.
Park N Fly Mississauga Canada. Vehicle in parked position. Vehicle reversed from position and driven for 50-75 feet. Driver made a left turn and within two seconds the vehicle started accelerating on its own. Driver’s head and hands bounced off the steering for a brief moment and then returned. Engine could be heard revving continuously in an increasing manner. Nothing on the gas pedal nor was it manually depressed. The pedal felt stuck with no recoil like what is usually felt when ones foot is taken off the accelerator. Driver attempted to depress brakes to maximum capacity but the system would not override the acceleration and the motion the car was travelling. Car continued to pickup speed to about 70 km/hr. Attempted to slightly turn into a side lane. Cars were parked in facing each other position. Driver clipped the first vehicle, then deflected and ran into three other vehicles before becoming wedged. Passenger front tire continue to spin and burnt thread. Driver front tire intact

OUR 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE HAS LOUD NOISE FROM THE BACK WHEELS. TOOK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER SAID THE BRAKE ROTORS AND CALIPERS WERE RUSTED. FOR SAFETY CONCERN, THE DEALER ADVISED THAT WE HAVE BOTH ROTORS AND CALIPERS CHANGED. IT WAS 6/29/2015 AND THE CAR HAS DRIVEN ONLY 257664 MILES. REPORTEDLY, DEALER REPLACED ROTORS AND CALIPER WITH OEM PARTS. WITHIN 3 MONTHS. WE NOTICES THE ROTORS ARE RUSTED. WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER ON 9/26/2015 AND WAS TOLD, NOTHING THEY CAN DO. ASKED US TO CONTACT HYUNDAI CORP. ON 9/29/2015, WE CONTACTED HYUNDAI USA, BUT HYUNDAI KEPT SAYING IT HAS PASSED THE 5-YEAR WARRANTY FOR BRAKE, AND IGNORE THE OEM PARTS RUSTED WITH 3000 MILES AND 3 MONTHS. WHEN POINTED THIS OUT, HYUNDAI PRACTICALLY IGNORE OUR CONCERN. OUR CARS ARE ALWAYS KEPT INSIDE GARAGE. WITH THIS RUST PROBLEM, WE BEGAN TO CHECK ON ROTORS OF CARS IN ANY PARKING LOT WHEN WE WENT OUT AND PARKED THE CAR. WE FOUND THAT ALL MOST ALL HYUNDAI, DOES NOT MATTER WHICH MODEL, THEIR ROTORS ARE ALL RUSTED. BUT NOT OTHER MAKERS VEHICLES. I ALSO FOUND SIMILAR "PREMATURE RUST" OF ROTORS COMPLAINTS FROM HYUNDAI CAR OWNERS IN THE INTERNET. I BELIEVE THE OEM ROTORS AND CALIPERS SHALL CARRY THE SAME 5-YEAR WARRANTY AS ORIGINAL PARTS IN THE CAR. FOR SAFE OF CUSTOMERS, HYUNDAI SHALL NOT BE ALLOW TO USE SUCH DEFECTED PARTS IN THEIR VEHICLES. WILL NHTSA TAKE ACTION ON BEHALF OF US?
