TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUN VISOR FAILED AND BECAME SEPARATED FROM THE PLASTIC MOUNT HOLDER, CAUSING THE SUN VISOR TO HANG BY THE WIRES. THE SUN VISORS WERE ALSO OBSTRUCTING THE CONTACT'S VIEW OF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE SUN VISOR WAS NOT REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,500.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW. IT HAS ONLY 32000 MILES. THE FUEL SENSORS DO NOT WORK GIVING ME INACCURATE READINGS ON THE FUEL GAUGE. IN ADDITION, IN AN INCIDENT THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELATED, WHILE DRIVING MY SIX YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER, I EXPERIENCED AN EXTREME SLOWDOWN. THIS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES ON DIFFERENT DAYS. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS EVENT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ON AN HIGHWAY WITH HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC. THE IRONIC THING IS THAT A FRIEND BOUGHT THE SAME KIND OF VEHICLE AT THE SAME TIME AND SHE HAS HAD THE SAME TWO PROBLEMS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 SANTA FE GOING APC. 30 MPH MY CAR TRIED TO STOP ITSELF. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE BUT THEN STOPPED FOR A FEW MONTHS. MY ESC LIGHT COMES ON EACH TIME. THANK GOD I WASN'T ON THE INTERSTATE. I ALSO HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM WITH MY TIRE CUPPING. BUT MY CAR TRYING TO STOP ITSELF PUTS MY LIFE AT RISK. ESC OFF LIGHT ON DASH THEN CHECK ENGINE. CODE IS P0504 FOR BRAKE SWITCH. THIS CONDITION IS COVERED UNDER OTHER HYUNDAI CAMPAIGNS AND RECALLS BUT NOT FOR OUR VIN / BUILD DATE. PLEASE CONSIDER WORKING WITH HYUNDAI TO PROVIDE RESOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE. WE ARE ALSO BEING TOLD THERE IS A TWO WEEK WAIT TO HAVE THIS REPAIR PERFORMED. FAULTY BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH BUT WAS TOLD BY LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER AND HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECENT RECALL. OVER 1.7 MILLION VEHICLES LIKE MINE WERE RECALLED. MINE HAS THE SAME ISSUE, WHY WOULDN'T MINE BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL CAMPAIGN? THEY TOLD ME MINE WAS PRODUCED BEFORE THE RECALL DATE! REALLY??? THE PART IS VERY INEXPENSIVE AND FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, AN EASY FIX. WHY WOULDN'T HYUNDAI, AND MY LOCAL DEALER FOR THAT MATTER, WANT TO MAKE THE REPAIR AT NO CHARGE IN ORDER TO KEEP A CUSTOMER HAPPY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WAS DISPLAYING ERRONEOUS FUEL LEVEL READINGS. WHEN THE FUEL LEVEL WAS AT HALF FULL, THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD READ EMPTY. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ALSO ILLUMINATE SHORTLY AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM SENSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT ALERTED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHILE ATTEMPTING A TURN. THE BRAKES ALSO FAILED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF A LARGE TRUCK AND SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, A FRACTURED FINGER AND ANKLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP BUT WAS NEITHER REPAIRED NOR DIAGNOSED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE BRAKING OR ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000. UPDATED 01/14/14*LJ
FAULTY FUEL GAUGE. THE FUEL GAUGE WILL REGISTER EMPTY AND THE FUEL LIGHT WILL COME ON AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK. THE GAUGE WILL WAVER AND GIVE FAULTY REGISTERS WHILE DRIVING, EVEN CLIMBING BACK TO FULL AFTER REGISTERING "EMPTY" SECONDS BEFORE. *JS
MY VEH HAD AN OIL LEAK WE NOTICED IN JUNE OF 2013. WE TOOK IT TO A CERTIFIED HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WITH A WARRANTY THE VEH STILL HAD AND HAD BOTH VALVE COVER GASKETS REPLACED AND THE OIL PAN WAS ALSO LEAKING. A YEAR LATER JUNE 20, 2014 WHEN I WAS PARKED AT A FRIENDS HOUSE WE NOTICED OIL ON HER DRIVEWAY. I GUESS THE VEH WAS LEAKING OIL AGAIN, I JUST DIDN'T NOTICE SINCE OUR GARAGE IS STAINED WITH OIL. I TOOK IT BACK AND WAS TOLD BOTH VALVE COVER GASKETS AND THE OIL PAN WERE ALL LEAKING AGAIN, HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR SINCE IT WAS JUST OVER A YEAR. SEEMS LIKE AN ODD PROBLEM TO HAVE THE EXACT SAME LEAK IN 1 YEAR. EITHER THERE IS A FLAW IN THIS YEAR SANTA FE OR GURLY LEEP IN MISHAWAKA DID NOT DO A PROPER FIX ON MY VEH. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL FORUMS FOR THESE 07 SANTA FE'S WITH THE SAME TYPE OF LEAK THAT OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE. BECAUSE OF THIS OIL LEAK, MY ALTERNATOR HAS GONE OUT THIS MORNING, THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WENT BAD FROM BEING SATURATED WITH OIL. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THE FUEL SENSOR WENT OUT WHICH NOW THE TRUCK DOESN'T REGISTER ANY GAS IN THE VEH. THIS IS ANOTHER COMMON COMPLANT I AM FINDING ON FORUMS FOR THIS 07 SANTA FE. I AM STARTING TO WONDER IF THESE ITEMS SHOULD BE IN SOME SORT OF A RECALL.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONSISTENTLY AND THE FUEL GAUGE READING BEGAN TO FLUCTUATE. IN ADDITION, AN ODOR OF FUEL EMITTED INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO A FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATELY FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY VEHICLE IS CONSTANTLY SHOWING A LIGHT INDICATING I AM LOW ON FUEL EVEN AFTER PUTTING GAS IN IT STILL SHOWS.I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE I AM HAVING TO GUESS WHERE I AM FUEL WISE AND I TRAVEL QUITE A BIT AND MY SON SOMETIMES DRIVES MY CAR AND WOULD PRAY I NEVER GUESS WRONG BECAUSE I SHUTTER TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I MISCALCULATED AND RUN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON 20 EAST OR WEST . THE VEHICLE'S ESC WILL COME ON INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE APPEARS TO APPLY THE BRAKES CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO VEER VIOLENTLY TO THE RIGHT (A VERY SCARY AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS.) THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO FREEHOLD HYUNDAI SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED IT IN 2007 AND IT TOOK OVER A WEEK TO PRESUMABLY DIAGNOSE AND FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM THAT HAS RECENTLY STARTED AGAIN. I CAN DRIVE THE CAR FOR WEEKS WITH NO ISSUES AND THEN SUDDENLY YOU ARE DRIVING AND THE PROBLEM OCCURS. THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND HYUNDAI WANTS TO CHARGE A FEE JUST TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM THAT IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON THE INTERNET AND SHOULD ALREADY HAVE A RESOLUTION IN PLACE. . IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT ILLUMINATING WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKES AND THE ESC WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V113000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING , SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC ) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE STOP LAMP SWITCH WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,900. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR FELL DOWN. WE POPPED IT BACK IN BUT COULD SEE THE WIRES HANGING OUT. WE CONTINUED TO POP IT BACK IN. WITHIN A FEW WEEKS IT EVENTUALLY BROKE OFF AND NOW IT IS NOT ABLE TO BE USED AT ALL. APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS LATER THE DRIVERS SIDE VISOR HAS FALLEN DOWN. I CAN CURRENTLY POP IT BACK IT BUT IT DOES NOT STAY UP LONG. I HAVE NEVER EVEN HAD TO REPLACE A VISOR ON A CAR BEFORE. YOU CAN SEE ON BOTH PARTS WHERE THE CHEAP PLASTIC BROKE OFF. THERE IS DEFINITELY AND ISSUE WITH THESE AND THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. I AM NOT CONFIDENT IN THE PART AND FEAR THAT IF I REPLACE IT THE SAME THING WILL HAPPEN AT MY OWN EXPENSE. *TR
MY EXPERIENCE AND OBSERVATION IS SAME WHAT IS EXPLAIN IN THE EARLIER POST. I CAR DOES HAVE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH FAILURE WHICH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE SHELL OUT $70 FROM POCKET TO FIX IT. THE HYUNDAI DEALER (HYUNDAI MARK ZIMMERMAN) CHARGED ME $291 FOR FIXING THE TPS AND PROGRAMMING THE ECM. WHEN I WOULD BEGIN ACCELERATION THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE THEN TAKE OFF RAPIDLY THEN I WOULD LOOSE POWER TO A SPEED OF @ 25 MILES PER HOUR AND THE ESC OFF SWITCH WOULD APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD FOLLOWED BY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I SAFELY PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS. ONCE I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WOULD GO OUT AND I WOULD REPEAT THIS CYCLE 8-9 TIMES BEFORE BEING ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AFTER DRIVING NORMALLY FOR ABOUT 10 MILES THE ESC OFF LIGHT WOULD REAPPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD IN MY OPINION THIS IS A SERIOUS MALFUNCTION AND CERTAINLY DANGEROUS COMBINATION AND SHOULD BE LABELED AS A RECALL. HYUNDAI SHOULD VALUE THE SAFETY AND EXPECTATIONS OF THEIR CAR BUYERS. THANKS! *TR
BRAKE LIGHT MODULE FAILS TO LIGHT UP, WHICH CAUSES HIGHER RISK OF COLLISION. THERE IS RECALL ON THIS, BUT THIS DOES NOT COVER MY VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE HAS MULTIPLE PROBLEMS, ALL OF WHICH ARE HAZARDS. THE GAS GAUGE NEEDLE DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, AND SHOWS ERRATIC GAS USAGE, EVEN SHOWING THE LOW FUEL LIGHT RIGHT AFTER FILLING UP. THE ESC LIGHT STAYS ON, WHICH CAUSES THE ENGINE LIGHT TO STAY ON. AND THE VEHICLE WILL HESITATE AT TIMES WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. ALL OF THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN REPORTED BY OTHER SANTA FE OWNERS. *TR
FUEL SENSORS HAVE GONE OUT AND FUEL GAUGE FLUCTUATES BETWEEN EMPTY AND 1/2 TANK. CAUSES ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. KNOWN ISSUE, YET NO RECALLS OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM HYUNDAI. *TR
I WAS MAKING A SHARP CIRCLE TYPE CURVE TO THE RIGHT AND THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. I DID NOT LOSE ANY POWER, THE BRAKES WORKED FINE, AND NO LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE PANEL. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS THE HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE REP AT THE CORPORATE PHONE NUMBER WERE VERY UNCONCERNED. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ONLINE FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF HOURS, AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON AND VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. *TR

MY SANTA FE'S AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I SENT IT TO THE DEALERS THEY SAID IT WAS THE "CLOCK SPRING" THAT NEEDS REPLACING. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ISSUED BY HYUNDAI (NHTSA ID 11V472000) FOR THIS EXACT REASON IN THE UNITED STATES. PROBLEM IS I LIVE IN SOUTH AFRICA AND OUR LEGAL SYSTEM IS NOT AS EFFICIENT AS YOURS IS SO MANUFACTURERS GET AWAY WITH NOT ISSUING RECALLS THAT ORIGINATE IN THE STATES. DO YOU HAVE A PART NUMBER FOR THE COIL SPRING THAT I CAN TRACK FROM HYUNDAI? ACCORDING TO HYUNDAI SOUTH AFRICA THEY CANNOT SAY IF THE DEFECTIVE PARTS THAT WHERE PUT IN USA VEHICLES ARE THE SAME AS THE ONES PUT INTO SOUTH AFRICAN VEHICLES! MY GAS GAUGE ACTS REALLY WEIRD AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THE GAS GAUGE TELLS ME I HAVE NO GAS AFTER I'VE FILLED UP THE CAR. WHILE ACCELERATING TO PASS A CAR, MY ACCELERATOR GOT STUCK AND I COULDN'T GET MY CAR TO STOP WITH THE BRAKES. THIS HAD HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE, A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND I WAS ABLE TO GET IT 'UNSTUCK' BY PUMPING BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO BE CHECKED AND THE DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T 'RECREATE' THE ISSUE AND THAT IT WAS PROBABLY MY FLOOR MATS. I BASICALLY CHALKED IT UP AS A FLUKE, ALTHOUGH I NEVER AGREED WITH THE FLOOR MAT SCENARIO. WHEN IT HAPPENED THIS TIME, I TRIED PUMPING BRAKES, ACCELERATOR, DOWNSHIFTING, ETC. AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN SOME, BUT WOULDN'T ACTUALLY STOP UNTIL I RAN INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER CAR. EVEN THEN, THE ENGINE WAS REVVING AND THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET IT TO STOP WAS TO TURN IT OFF. I WAS TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AGAIN SO IT WAS TOWED AND IS BEING CHECKED FOR MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION. I SEE THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL!! *TR
VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING FLUCTUATING FUEL GAUGE READOUT DUE TO PREMATURE FAILURE OF FUEL LEVEL SENSORS. FAILED SENSORS HAVE SET OFF A "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT". IN THE EVENT OF A "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT", THE VEHICLE FAILS TO PASS STATE EMISSIONS INSPECTIONS. *TR
FUEL LEVEL GAGE READOUT IS FAULTY, PROVIDING ERRONEOUS AND IRREGULARLY FLUCTUATING READINGS ON REMAINING GAS LEVELS. TOOK IT TO DENNIS HYUNDAI OF DUBLIN OH AND WAS INFORMED BY SERVICE MANAGER THAT THIS IS A REGULAR PROBLEM ON 2007 SANTA FE'S. HE SAID THE YELLOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT SPORADICALLY LIGHTS IS TRIGGERED BY FAULTY GAS LEVEL SENSOR. THE DEALER CLEARED THE TROUBLE CODE FOR ME AND SUGGESTED I NOT WASTE MY MONEY ON THE COSTLY REPAIR OF THE SENSOR AND USE MY ODOMETER TO TRACK WHEN I SHOULD FILL THE TANK. UNFORTUNATELY THE ODOMETER IS NOT DESIGNED OR INTENDED FOR THIS PURPOSE. MOST OF THE TIME THE FUEL LEVEL GAGE ON THE DASHBOARD READS COMPLETELY EMPTY SO I HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH FUEL REMAINS IN MY TANK. ALSO WITH THE YELLOW CHECK ENGINE CONTINUALLY LIT I'LL HAVE NO PRACTICAL WAY OF KNOWING IF SOME OTHER EMISSION CONTROL FAULT HAPPENS WITHOUT REPEATEDLY HAVING TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO VERIFY THE TROUBLE CODE CAUSE. GAS GAUGES SERVE A VITAL ROLE IN KEEPING THE DRIVER INFORMED OF WHEN THE TANK NEEDS MORE FUEL. WITHOUT A RELIABLE FUNCTIONING GAUGE THERE IS CONTINUAL RISK OF DEPLETING THE FUEL, RESULTING IN A STALLED ENGINE AND LOSS OF POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING, GREATLY INCREASING RISK OF AN ACCIDENT. IT IS EVIDENT FROM THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FILED ON THIS PROBLEM THAT THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW OR DEFECT IN THE PARTS OR SYSTEM INVOLVING THIS FUEL LEVEL SENSOR AND GAUGE. ISN'T TIME HYUNDAI BE MADE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING/FUNDING A REMEDY FOR THIS DEFECT? *TR
MY CRANKSHAFT VIBRATION DAMPER FAILED. IT LITERALLY BROKE INTO TWO PIECES. IT LEFT ME UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT ON A TWO LANE (EACH SIDE = 4) ROAD. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE, HOWEVER, AND HAD TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT AND OFF THE ROAD. IF I HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 70 WHO KNOWS WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. I CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ITEM IN MY OPINION. *TR
CAR BEGAN ACCELERATING AS IF CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE CAR HESITATED FOR A SECOND. I THEN PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND SHUT OFF THE IGNITION. PRIOR TO TURNING OFF THE CAR THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWED SPEED OF 90 MILES PER HOUR. MY VEHICLE THEN ROLLED TO A STOP. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE THE STEERING COLUMN WAS LOCKED AND HE WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. THE FOLLOWING MORNING THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND SUGGESTED THAT THE INCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY MY FLOOR MAT. *TR
THE HYUNDAI SANTA FE WAS PARKED WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. MY 7 YEAR OLD GRANDSON GOT IN THE VEHICLE FIRST. HE KNOCKED THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK. WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING, I TRIED TO GET IN BUT I COULDN'T WITH IT ROLLING. IT HIT A VAN AND MY DRIVERS DOOR CAUGHT ON THE FRONT OF THE VAN PUSHING MY DRIVERS DOOR COMPLETELY BACK. I WAS CAUGHT BETWEEN THE TWO VEHICLES. MY 4 YEAR OLD GRANDKIDS (TWINS) COULD HAVE BEEN BEHIND THE SANTA FE OR ANOTHER CHILD SINCE WE WERE AT A BALL FIELD. NOW WE NOTICE THE SANTA FE CAN BE EASILY PULLED OUT OF PARK WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. *TR

ONCE I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WOULD GO OUT AND I WOULD REPEAT THIS CYCLE 8-9 TIMES BEFORE BEING ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AFTER DRIVING NORMALLY FOR ABOUT 10 MILES THE ESC OFF LIGHT WOULD REAPPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD AND I WOULD LOOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING SOMETIMES ON A HIGHWAY WHICH WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO GO FROM 60 MPH TO COASTING AT @ 15 MPH. DIAGNOSIS FROM THE CAR DEALER IS THE THROTTLE POSITION CENSOR AND THROTTLE BODY PART. IN MY OPINION THIS IS A SERIOUS MALFUNCTION AND CERTAINLY DANGEROUS COMBINATION AND SHOULD BE LABELED AS A RECALL. HYUNDAI SHOULD VALUE THE SAFETY AND EXPECTATIONS OF THEIR CAR BUYERS. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE ON AN INTERSTATE TO PASS A VEHICLE, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK AND THE VEHICLE QUICKLY SPED UP TO 80 MPH IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. THANKFULLY DUE TO RECENT ACCELERATOR ISSUES/RECALLS FOR OTHER MANUFACTURES, I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL. THE ENGINE WAS PEGGED AT MAX RPMS WHILE I FRANTICALLY TRIED TO GET OVER THROUGH THE LANES WITH THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. WITH THREE CHILDREN ABOARD, THIS WAS A VERY HARROWING EXPERIENCE. I WAS ULTIMATELY ABLE TO REACH DOWN, GRAB THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND YANK IT BACK. AFTER DOING THIS, IT AGAIN DROVE NORMALLY. I IMMEDIATELY LOOKED AT THE PEDAL, FLOOR MAT, AND CARPET ONCE ARRIVING HOME. IT IS CLEARLY OBVIOUS THAT THE FLOOR CARPET ITSELF (NOT THE MAT, THE ACTUAL VEHICLE'S CARPETING) JUST UNDER THE PEDAL HAS HARDENED AND DEVELOPED A BULGE SUCH THAT THE PEDAL WILL GET STUCK IN IT IF DEPRESSED TO FAR. THIS WAS BROUGHT TO THE IMMEDIATE ATTENTION OF THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WHO INDICATED THE WARRANTY WAS NO LONGER VALID AS THE VEHICLE WAS PAST 60K MILES (75K), AND A CALL PLACED TO HYUNDAI USA AGAIN YIELDED THE SAME RESULTS, THAT THE OWNER WOULD NEED TO PAY $1400 TO REPLACE THE FLOORING. THERE IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW IN THE FLOOR CARPET AND RAISED SECTION DIRECTLY UNDER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THAT LEAD TO THIS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION, PUTTING MY SAFETY AT RISK, AND HYUNDAI IS WILLING TO HIDE BEHIND THE WARRANTY TO AVOID KEEPING ITS ONCE LOYAL CUSTOMER SAFE. *TR

LAST MARCH I NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND THE VEHICLE HESITATING TO STALLING OUT WHEN COLD AND ACCELERATING. THIS IS WORSE THE COLDER IT GETS OUTSIDE. ALSO WHEN DRIVING YOU CAN FEEL A HESITATION/MISSING GOING ON, ALMOST LIKE THE GAS ISN'T FLOWING STEADILY INTO THE ENGINE. AND RECENTLY MY GAS GAUGE IS NOT SHOWING ACCURATELY WHAT IS IN THE GAS TANK. I'LL FILL UP AND IT STILL READS EMPTY WITH THE LOW FUEL LIGHT ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. IT'LL EVENTUALLY AFTER FEW START UPS START TO "SUPPOSEDLY" DISPLAY THE CORRECT GAS AMT ON THE GAUGE. I RESET MY TRIP METER TO MEASURE HOW MANY MILES ON THE TANK SO I DON'T RUN OUT. BUT THE STALLING ON ACCELERATION IS A BIG ISSUE. THIS COULD HAPPEN AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AND END UP CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I'VE READ ON THIS SIGHT OTHERS HAVING SAME PROBLEM.. I HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH A GMC ENVOY, ABOUT THE SAME YEAR AS MY HYUNDAI, GMC MADE GOOD ON THE PROBLEM AND COVERED THE EXPENSES AS THEY HAD A "SILENT" RECALL ON THAT ISSUE. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE CONTROL ARM 3 TIMES, (2/2013, 4/2014, 3/2015) AND ABOUT TO DO IT A 4TH TIME (2019). IT GOES BAD AFTER ABOUT 20,000 MILES AND AFFECTS THE ALIGNMENT WHICH CAUSES THE TIRES TO WEAR INCORRECTLY. BRAND NEW TIRES ARE GET WORN DOWN ON THE INSIDE EDGE AND IS NOT VISIBLE. THIS CAUSES A SAFETY ISSUE. MY RELATIVELY NEW TIRE BLEW OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AND NEARLY CAUSED A CRASH. I'VE SPENT $3000 IN REPAIRS AND ESTIMATE ANOTHER $1000 IN TIRES THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED PREMATURELY. I WILL FILL ONE OF THESE OUT FOR EACH OF THE INCIDENTS DESCRIBED ABOVE.
THE GAS GAUGE WAS FLUCTUATING DRASTICALLY FROM ONE STOP UNTIL THE NEXT ONE. ONE MINUTE WE HAD HALF A TANK OF GAS AND WE WENT INTO A STORE. WHEN WE CAME OUT OF THE STORE THE GAS GAUGE WAS ON E. WE DROVE FOR A LITTLE BIT AND THE FUEL LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALL OF A SUDDEN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED THAT BOTH THE SENSORS IN THE FUEL TANK HAD STOPPED WORKING. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT APPEARS THERE IS SOMETHING UNIQUE GOING ON WITH THESE FUEL SENSORS. MOST ALL THE ISSUES I COULD FIND WERE ONLY 2007 & 2008 SANTA FES. I WOULD SEEM HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT JUST THESE TWO MODEL YEAR HAVE THIS ISSUE UNLESS THEY GOT A DEFECTIVE BATCH OF FUEL SENSORS THAT WENT INTO THEM OR THE INSTALLATION WAS FAULTY, ETC. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN JUST OVER 5 YEAR MARK WHICH IS JUST OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. I FEEL THAT AN INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE DONE INTO THIS MATTER. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, I ATTEMPTED TO DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL BY TAPPING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT TURN OFF EVEN WITH HOLDING THE BRAKE DOWN HARDER. I WAS ABLE TO SHUT OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL USING THE OFF SWITCH ON THE STEERING WHEEL. UPON EXITING THE INTERSTATE AND REACHING MY DESTINATION, I COULD NOT GET THE SHIFTER TO GO INTO PARK. AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES, I GOT IT TO GO INTO PARK. IT HAS ONLY DONE THIS ONE TIME AND NEVER HAPPENED SINCE THEN. FORTUNATELY, I WAS DRIVING AND NOT MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER WHO NORMALLY DRIVES THIS VEHICLE. HER LACK OF EXPERIENCE MAY HAVE CAUSED HER TO PANIC WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO DEACTIVATE WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. *TR

WE ARE BEYOND OUR INITIAL WARRANTY AND THE VISORS ARE NOT COVERED ON THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THE DEALERSHIP SAID, 'THE VISORS SHOULD BE COVERED,WE SEE THIS ALL THE TIME'. AFTER A QUICK REVIEW ON THE WEB I SEE THAT MANY HYUNDAI DRIVERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR DANGEROUS EXPERIENCES. IT SEEMS SOME OF THE VISORS WERE EVEN PART OF A RECALL, BUT NOT THE 2007 SANTA FE. WE DON'T USE OUR VISORS EXCESSIVELY AND WE DON'T HAVE ANY WEIGHT ON THEM, THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE COVERED OR EVEN RECALLED AS IT PLACES PEOPLE IN DANGER WHEN IT FALLS DOWN, HANGS BY THE CORD, AND DISTRACTS DRIVERS. WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, ACCELERATOR SUDDENLY DID NO LONGER RESPOND AND "CHECK ENGINE" AND ESC WARNING LIT UP AND SPEED DECREASED. I WAS ABLE TO COAST AT 5-10 MPH TO THE NEAREST DEALER 8 MILES AWAY. THEY IMMEDIATELY DIAGNOSED IT TO THE TPS UNIT (THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR), WHICH WAS REPLACED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. HOWEVER THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT WITH THIS CAR. THE FIRST TIME HAPPENED IN OCTOBER 2007 JUST A WEEK AFTER WE BOUGHT THE CAR. WE HAD TO COAST DOWN A MOUNTAIN FROM 8000 FEET. AT THAT TIME THE TPS UNIT WAS ALSO REPLACED BUT UNDER THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY. IT IS SCARY IF/WHEN IT HAPPENS WHILE PASSING A VEHICLE ON THE FREEWAY OR EVEN IN DENSE CITY TRAFFIC. 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS OF AIRBAG RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED THEY RECTIFIED THE RECALL ISSUE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS STILL ON, THE DEALER STATES I WILL NEED A NEW SEAT TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE TO HIGH SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 41,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE ON INITIAL START ON MORNINGS WHERE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 50 DEGREES F. BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD, DID NOT MOVE TOWARD THE FLOOR MORE THAN 1/2", AND DID NOT ENGAGE BRAKES WITH FIRM STEADY PRESSURE. AFTER PUMPING BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES, PRESSURE WAS FELT IN THE PEDAL, WHICH SLOWLY MOVED TOWARD THE FLOOR, AND BRAKES ENGAGED. EVEN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESSED HARD AND STEADY, THE CAR DID NOT SLOW, AND ABS DID NOT ENGAGE. DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO FIND PROBLEM AFTER KEEPING THE CAR FOR 4 DAYS. TIRE STORE IDENTIFIED SOURCE AS FAULTY BRAKE BOOSTER, REPLACED PART, AND THE CAR HAS BEEN STOPPING AS EXPECTED SINCE REPAIR. I HAVE RETAINED THE FAULTY BOOSTER. *TR
