TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WILLIAMSBURG HYUNDAI (7277 RICHMOND RD, WILLIAMSBURG, VA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED PER A MANUFACTURER CAMPAIGN FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
CAR STARTED SURGING FORWARD WITHOUT TOUCHING GAS PEDAL, IT LUNGES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS WELL. I
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET AT ABOUT 40 MPH, A KNOCKING SOUND WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE. AFTER DRIVING ANOTHER 5 MILES THE NOISE BECAME LOADER AND THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP (HYUNDAI OF COOL SPRINGS, FRANKLIN, TN) FOR SERVICE. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY FOUND SLUDGE AND METAL SHAVINGS INSIDE THE ENGINE AND OIL PAN. HYUNDAI WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM AND DENIED THE CLAIM. THE DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE OIL AND TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW ENGINE. VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000 MILES. STILL UNDER WARRANTY. CAN NO LONGER DRIVE THE CAR.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ON DASH STAYS LIT. CAR SCANNED AT DEALER. SHOWS AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE DEFECTIVE. TOLD AIR BAGS NON FUNCTIONING. CAR IS AT DEALER NOW. OTHER WARNING LIGHTS ACTIVATED AT SAME TIME (TRACTION CONTROL AND DOWN HILL BRAKE). CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN WHEN ERROR LIGHTS ACTIVATED.WAITING ON CALL BACK FROM HYUNDAI.
RANDOMLY, FROM A STOP, WHEN ACCELERATING THE ENGINE TEMPORARY STALLS OR HESITATES FOR 1-2 SECONDS. THIS VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW AND THE DEALER REFUSES TO RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM. IT HAS PROBABLY HAPPENED 50 TIMES OR MORE. ONLINE SEARCHES SHOW MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE WITH ALL MODELS WITH THE 2.X TURBO ENGINE.
Time Belt problem. Check engine, yellow.
SEAT BELT WARNING INOPERABLE FOR PASSENGER SEAT. IT DOESN'T PROVIDE A WARNING LIGHT OR AUDIBLE ALARM WITH A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT AND THE VEHICLE UNDERWAY IN DRIVE POSITION.
PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING DOES NOT FUNCTION. WITH ADULT IN THE SEAT, NO WARNING LIGHT OR ALARM TO INDICATE THE BELT IS NOT IN USE ANYTIME WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
DRIVING ON MAJOR HWY, CAR LOST POWER AND SO I LOOKED FOR A PLACE TO PULL OVER, WHEN I GOT TO SIDE OF RD THE CAR STALLED OUT AND DIED COMPLETELY. WOULDN'T RESTART AGAIN. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND BATTERY LIGHT AND OTHER LIGHTS. I TRIED TO CRANK WITH NO LUCK. CALLED FOR HELP. GOT TOWED TO NEAREST SHOP. IT WAS MOTOR THAT FAILED. NO SIGN EXCEPT LOST POWER AND DIED. SAME CONDITION AS MOTORS THAT WERE RECALLED AND MY MOTOR IS A 2014 AND I HAVE EXTRA WARRANTY AND THEY TURNED ME DOWN. I NEED HELP PLEASE.....HELPPPPPPPPP
TWICE ENGINE QUIT WHILE OPERATING WITH NO WARNING. ONCE AT 60MPH AND THE OTHER AT SLOW SPEED WHILE TURNING AROUND. RESTARTED BY PLACING IN NEUTRAL AND PUSH START BUTTON WHILE STILL MOVING. 21000+ MILES. DEALER OFFERS NO EXPLANATION. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS WITH HYUNDAI VEHICLES. NO FIXES I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND AND LITTLE SATISFACTION FROM THE MFR.
HIT ACCELERATOR AND WON'T SHIFT INTO GEAR, LOUD REVS AND THEN HEAR A BANG AND THE CAR JUMPS AS IT FINALLY SHIFTS INTO GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED RANDOMLY THROUGHOUT THE LIFE OF MY CAR AT RANDOM, I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT, THEN LAST WEEK, I START TO LOSE POWER, AND SAME THING, IT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES ON THE SAME DRIVE. NEVER ONCE WHEN THIS HAPPENS DID I GET A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THEN IT GOT SCARY AS WHILE ON THE FREEWAY THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWNSHIFT WHEN TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON ITS OWN WHILE IN DRIVE. STILL NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAR FINALLY GETS BACK TO CORRECT GEAR RATIO FOR THE SPEED. FINALLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. NOW THE CAR WON'T SHIFT OUT OF 4TH GEAR, NO 1ST OR SECOND GEAR.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, I NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AND OTHER FLUIDS. THE OIL WAS VERY LOW. I PUT IN A FEW QUARTS OF OIL IMMEDIATELY AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GET AN OIL CHANGE PROFESSIONALLY SHORTLY AFTER. I NOTICED THE ENGINE WITH HESITATE AND IDLING BECAME ROUGH. AT THE SAME TIME, THE FUEL MILES PER GALLON DECREASED DRASTICALLY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LEN STOLER HYUNDAI (1906, 11275 REISTERSTOWN RD, OWINGS MILLS, MD 21117, (443) 249-8884) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT METAL WAS FOUND THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CASE NUMBER: 11185417 WAS OPENED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
SOMEBODY HAS FINALLY DIED OVER THIS DEFECT, NOW WILL SOMETHING BE DONE ABOUT IT? I HAVE OWNED 2 HYUNDAI SANTAFE'S A 2013 AND NOW A 2015. THE HEADLAMP SYSTEM ON BOTH CARS, USING HALOGEN LAMPS, IS INFERIOR, UNACCEPTABLE, FOR VOLVO, DEADLY. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT LIMITED TO THE HYUNDAI CAR BRAND, BUT MANY BRANDS USING SIMILAR PROJECTOR HALOGEN HEADLAMP SYSTEMS. DRIVING ANYWHERE IN LIKE EQUIPPED VEHICLES THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS FAIL TO PROVIDE ENOUGH LIGHT AHEAD OF THE VEHICLE TO AVOID AN OBSTACLE COMING OUT OF THE SHADOWS. CASE IN POINT, THE UBER VOLVO PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT. HAVING DRIVEN PROFESSIONALLY OVER 2.5 MILLION MILES IN MY LIFETIME, MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PROJECTOR TECHNOLOGY, IT IS MY PROFESSIONAL OPINION THE ACCIDENT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. BECAUSE THE LAMP SYSTEM ON THE VOLVO, MY TWO HYUNDAI'S, FAIL TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE LIGHTING ALLOWING THE DRIVER TO SEE, AND AVOID, OBSTACLES. I AM ATTACHING SCREEN SHOTS OF A 7 SECOND VIDEO RELATED TO THE UBER ACCIDENT. JUST OVER 3 SECONDS IN, WITH A LITTLE OVER 1 SECOND TO REACT, THE PEDESTRIAN IS BARELY VISIBLE. THE HEADLAMPS ONLY ILLUMINATE TO THE END OF THE 2ND WHITE STRIPE, ON THE LEFT, IN FRONT OF THE VOLVO. THE SAME IS TRUE OF BOTH HYUNDAI'S I HAVE OWNED WITH A SIMILAR HEADLAMP SYSTEM. STUDIES HAVE SHOWN, WITH OUT ANY DOUBT, IT TAKES A LITTLE OVER 2 SECONDS FOR A HUMAN TO REACT, UNDER IDEAL SITUATIONS, TO A UNANTICIPATED SEE AND AVOID DRIVING EVENT. IN THIS EXEMPLAR THE DRIVER HAD BARELY MORE THAN 1 SECOND TO REACT, ONCE HIS BRAIN PROCESSED THINGS, AND THEN TOLD HIS EXTREMITIES TO DO SOMETHING. THEREFORE, DUE TO INADEQUATE LIGHTING, THIS ACCIDENT IN NO WAY WAS AVOIDABLE, NOW SOMEBODY IS DEAD, AND YOU DO NOTHING. I HAVE LOOKED FOR A WAY TO ILLUSTRATE THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE, THIS DEFINES IT IN SPADES. FINALLY IF THE VOLVO HAD THE HID, OR LED LAMPS, FOR THE DEFECT TO EXIST THERE, IS MORE APPALLING.
MY HYUNDAI IS 3 YEARS OLD WITH 70,000 MILES ON IT , I'VE MAINTAINED THE VEHICLE ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURERERS SUGGESTIONS . THE CAR HAD NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON OR WARNINGS THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND THE NEXT DAY I START MY CAR AND IT'S MAKING A VERY LOUD TICKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING AND SLOWLY LOSING POWER UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY STALLED OUT . I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC TO HAVE IT SCANNED , THE SCAN SHOWED THE EXHAUST SOLENOID HAS FAILED AND THE TIMING WAS ADVANCED , AGAIN THIS HAPPENED FROM THE CAR RUNNING PERFECTLY FINE ONE DAY TO THE ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN THE NEXT . SO THE MECHANIC TOOK THE SOLENOIDS OUT AND FOUND METAL SHAVINGS COVERING THEM . I'VE SINCE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIE TYPE OF ENGINE IN THIS VEHICLE THE THETA 11 GDI 2.0T , WHICH HAS BEEEN RECALLED 2011-2014 MODELS . THIS IS VERY DISHEARTENING TO HEAR THAT WITH A CAR THAT IS 3 YEARS OLD MY ENGINE IS NOW BLOWN AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST , I STILL OWE A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS CAR . I'VE READ THAT HYUNDAI KNOWS THESE ENGINES ARE FAULTY FOR HAVING METAL SHAVINGS IN THE CHAMBERS BUT YET THEY'RE STILL PUTTING THEM IN BRAND NEW VEHICLES , NOW I AM STUCK WITH A LEMON BASICALLY AND HAVE TO SHELL OUT 6 GRAND FOR ANOTHER ENGINE THAT THIS COULD POSSIBLY HAPPEN AGAIN BEFORE IT'S PAID OFF . THIS CLEARLY IS A MANUFACTURER ISSUE NOT THE OWNERS
STARTED THE CAR ONE MORNING AND IT RAN ROUGH. TURNED OFF A/C AND CAR SMOOTHED OUT. AS WE TURNED OFF OF OUR ROAD WE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND CAR WOULD NOT GO MORE THAN 1MPH PER EVERY FEW SECONDS. WE PULLED OFF IN THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND THE CAR DIED. DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE CAR FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS AND THEY HAVE ATTEMPTED TO HAVING NO IDEA WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE A RENTAL PER HYUNDAI'S CORPORATE POLICY. THIS VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 45,000 MILES ON IT!!
ENGINE SEIZED-NEEDED COMPLETE REPLACEMENT; $3,344 PAID TO WAIKEM HYUNDAI CANTON, OH- ENGINE LIGHT CAME WHILE DRIVING AND CAR STALLED. NEVER STARTED AGAIN, TOWED TO WAIKEM HYUNDAI, DENIED WARRANTY COVERAGE STATING NO PROOF OF ADEQUATE OIL CHANGES, EVEN THOUGH MANY PUBLISHED REPORTS OF HYUNDAI SANTA FE ENGINE FAILURES. I BELIEVE ENGINE RECALLS EXIST FOR 2014, ONE YEAR AWAY FROM OUR 2015- BELIEVE ISSUES OBVIOUSLY WEREN'T FIXED AND HYUNDAI NOT BEING ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR MISTAKES. OWNED MANY, MANY VEHICLES OVER MANY YEARS...NONE EVER HAD COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE LIKE THIS HYUNDAI. REPAIR RECEIPT AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.
WE HAVE BEEN WARNED THAT THE HOOD MAY BLOW OFF INTO THE WINDSHEILD WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. SAID THEY HAVE A FIX BUT IT HAS BEEN A COUPLE OF MONTHS BEFORE THEY SAY THEY HAVE A PART TO FIX IT. WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR AT THIS POINT
A PORTION OF THE SUNROOF INEXPLICABLY SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND PARKED AT THE TIME, THOUGH THERE WAS NOTHING ABOVE, AROUND OR EVEN NEAR THE VEHICLE TO CAUSE THE DAMAGE.
I WAS ON GROUND FLOOR OF A PARKING GARAGE AND ALREADY IN THE PARKING SPOT---I HAD MY BRAKE ON AND WAS ACTUALLY READY TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO "PARK". THERE WAS A SUDDEN REVING OF THE ENGINE AND THE CAR BEGAN TO MOVE FORWARD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED THROUGH A STEEL LATTICE WORK BARRIER AND THROUGH A FLOWER BED INTO AN EXTREMELY WET SURFACE. I HIT THE BRAKE AS HARD AS POSSIBLE AND BELIEVE THAT THE BRAKE FINALLY HELD. THE LEFT FRONT TIRE BECAME MIRED DOWN IN APPROXIMATELY 12-14 INCHES OF MUD. I BELIEVE THE COMBINATION OF THE MUD AND THE BRAKE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ACTUALLY STOP. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED DURING THIS ACCIDENT. BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR WERE DAMAGED FROM THE FRONT FENDER TO THE REAR FENDER, INCLUDING 1 HEADLIGHT UNIT, AND THE OUTSIDE MIRROR ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR (I DO NOT KNOW FOR CERTAIN IF THE OTHER OUTSIDE MIRROR WAS DAMAGED). I LOOKED UP "SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION" ONLINE AND IT IS LOOKING MORE AND MORE LIKE THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS) MAY HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT. I DO HAVE A POLICE REPORT AND PICTURES BUT CANNOT SCAN THEM AS I HAVE ON CAPABILITY TO DO SO. NO OTHER VEHICLE AND NO OTHER INDIVIDUALS WERE INVOLVED. WE HAD A WRECKING COMPANY COME TO PULL THE CAR OUT AND TAKE TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP FOR ESTIMATE AND POSSIBLE REPAIR. THE ESTIMATE THAT WAS GIVEN TO THE POLICE OFFICER FOR THE ACTUAL PROPERTY DAMAGES (STEEL LATTICE WORK REPLACEMENT AND LAWN REPAIR) WAS LISTED AS $5000. IT IS UNKNOWN AT THIS POINT WHETHER THERE WAS ANY DAMAGE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE AS A RESULT OF GOING OVER THE LARGE CONCRETE BLOCK THAT WAS IN FRONT OF THE PARKING SPOT. I AM WAITING FOR THE ESTIMATE TO KNOW THIS.
I RECEIVED RECALL FOR SECONDARY HOOD LATCH WHICH CAN CAUSE HOOD TO REMAIN OPEN AND OBSCURE DRIVER VISION. I SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH RICK CASE HYUNDAI. WHEN I GOT THERE, I WAS TOLD PART WAS NOT IN STOCK AND THEY COULD NOT RESCHEDULE BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T SURE WHEN THEY COULD GET PART. I CALLED POTAMKIN HYUNDAI AND HAD TO LEAVE A MESSAGE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT ANSWER THEIR SERVICE PHONE. I AM FILING COMPLAINT IN CASE SOMETHING HAPPENS, HYUNDAI CAN BE HELD LIABLE FOR NOT FIXING THIS ISSUE IN A TIMELY MANNER.
I RECEIVED A RECALL FROM YOU REGARDING THE SECONDARY LATCH ON THE HOOD RELEASE. I CALLED THE DEALER TO ARRANGE CORRECTION. DEALER REP SAID THAT PARTS ON BACK ORDER AND I COULD BE PUT ON WAITING LIST. I CALLED HYUNDAI FINANCE AS THE VEHICLE IS LEASED AND SAID CAN YOU DO ANYTHING? THEY SAID TO TAKE VEHICLE TO DEALER AND HAVE LATCH INSPECTED. I CALLED DEALER BACK AND ASKED FOR AN APPOINTMENT. TODAY IS AUGUST 7, THEY SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR SEPTEMBER 5. I SAID AN INSPECTION REQUIRING 5 MINUTES TAKES A MONTH? PAPERWORK, REP SAID. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT YOU ISSUED AN IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL AND MF. HAS NO PARTS? IS SEALER STALLING? DEALER NAME IS JOHNSON HYUNDAI IN CARY, NORTH CAROLINA. DON'T SEND RECALLS IF THE COMPANY WON'T CO-OPERATE! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,950.
ENGINE SEIZED ON THE VEHICLE AFTER 32000 MILES. SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMS THIS IS DUE TO POOR MAINTENANCE DESPITE ADEQUATE OIL CHANGES OCCUR DURING WITH THE MOST RECENT 1 DAY PRIOR TO VEHICLE BREAK DOWN. WE HAD DROVE THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 20 MILES FOLLOWING THE OIL CHANGE AND WAS LEAVING FOR A FAMILY VACATION AND WAS LESS THAN A MILE FROM OUR HOUSE WHEN IT BROOKE DOWN ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE BREAKDOWN OCCURRED. AFTER TOWING THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE A SEIZED ENGINE.
My 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe sport with 15,643 miles is consuming a lot of oil. I am having to add engine oil on a weekly basis.
WHILE DRIVING MY HYUNDAI SANTA FE DOWN A HIGHWAY AT NORMAL SPEED, THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF ON THE VEHICLE SHATTERED. THERE WERE NO CARS AHEAD OF ME TO CAUSE A ROCK TO FLY INTO THE ROOF AND CRACK IT. THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY LOUD POP SOUND WHEN THIS ISSUE OCCURRED. THIS HAPPENED WHILE MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING BACK FROM A HOLIDAY TRIP. READ ONLINE THAT MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING A SIMILAR SITUATION WITH THEIR PANORAMIC SUNROOF ON THEIR HYUNDAI SANTA FE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (INTERSTATE HYNUDAI, LOCATED AT 609 CONSTITUTION DR WEST MONROE, LA 71292) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPEED SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,654.
THE CAR STALLS AND COMPLETELY LOSES POWER. WE JUST HIT THE 62K MILE MARK. WHEN IT LOSES POWER EVEN THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK. WHEN YOU STOP AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THE CAR JERKS. THE EXHAUST IS SMOKING BADLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION AND WITH MORE THAN ONE DRIVER.

THOUSANDS OF PIECES OF GLASS ENDED UP INSIDE THE OVERHEAD SUN SHADE AND INSIDE THE CAR. I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY LATE AT NIGHT AND THERE WERE NO ROCKS OR OTHER FLYING OBJECTS THAT COULD HAVE HIT MY CAR WHEN THIS OCCURRED.
WHEN I AM ON A SUBSTANTIAL INCLINE, I PLACE THE AUTO INTO REVERSE, THERE IS A HARD SHIFTING NOISE AND VIBRATION. MY GIRLFRIENDS INCLINE ON HER DRIVEWAY IS PROBABLY AROUND 6% GRADE. THE 2ND TIME I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED, AS IT WOULD NO LONGER START. THAT TIME THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE CAUSED BY A SPARK PLUG.
