Front side airbags only came down maybe sun visor length. Broadsided a car that pulled out in front of me, I was going 55mph when I hit her and no time to brake. I am 5’4” and when I hit her my head hit below the bag and into the glass getting a concussion. This is a major safety factor. Progressive Insurance claim #[XXX], vin [XXX]. At 1641, I was driving 55mph on tonganoxie rd with the right of way & no stop signed. The other driver did have a stop sign but did not yield and entered the intersection causing my vehicle to strike the middle of the passenger side and spinning my vehicle and stopped 90’ to my right facing the direction she was traveling. All of my air back opened and inflated properly, except the driver side airbag. Because of this, my head slammed into the glass window, which then threw up upper body towards the passenger side. Had I not had a seatbelt on I would have ended up there. Due to the kinetic impact to the window (airbag only inflated about 1/4 of the way) I suffered a TBI severe concussion, tore my upper ribs from the breast bone, whiplash to my neck and back. There was a recall for this EXACT vehicle and driver airbag issue but mine was not listed as being on it. It has been a month and I still have a lump and tenderness at the impact site, brain fog and severe headaches, neck and back pain causing my to out of work at leave without pay. The headaches are worsening a bad do not want anyone else hurt.

The contact stated that the vehicle was jerking without warning. The contact stated that on another occasion while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently made a sudden stop without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 34,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while at a complete stop with the auto engine Start/Stop feature activated, the vehicle would intermittently shut off upon depression of the accelerator pedal with several warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact would be forced to turn off the vehicle and open the driver’s side door to reset the vehicle; after multiple attempts, the engine would restart and resume normal operation. The contact had taken the vehicle to two separate dealers, Freehold Hyundai (4065 US-9, Freehold, NJ 07728) and Greg May Hyundai (1501 TX-340 Loop, Waco, TX 76712)] on multiple occasions but neither dealer was able to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and provided a case number. The contact was referred back to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
I was driving and the car just turned off. A check engine light went on. I was able to restart the car. The dealer says they cant see any issues. I was put at risk because I was actively driving and the cars around me were driving.
Auto accident. Front end gone Air bag did not deploy. Only driver in car. Suffered 2 Broken ribs and broken sternum. Insurance company totaled car after inspection. No warning lights or messages presented at any time prior to accident.
The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, approximately 30 minutes later the neighbor informed that the vehicle was on fire. The contact rushed outside to discover flames and smoke were present coming from the rear driver's side of the vehicle. A fire extinguisher was used to extinguish the flames. The fire department was called to the scene. During the incident, the contact sustained a burned right hand which required medical treatment. The cause of the fire was not yet determined. A fire report was taken at the scene. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 48,000.
The contact's son owns a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe equipped with KUMHO Tires, Tire Line: Solus, Tire Size: 235/65/R17, DOT Number: H25AYA8U1221. The contact stated that while his son was driving 35 MPH, the passenger’s side front tire had a blowout causing damage to the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a body shop and the front end was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unavailable.
12/26/2021 Driving on I40 E between Santa Rosa and Tucumcari using adaptive cruise control (SCC) at approx 68 m.p.h the brakes were harshly applied which resulted in the vehicle rapidly de-accelerating from approximately 68 m.p.h to approximately 5 m.p.h. (There was a warning displayed on the odometer panel). no vehicle or other obstacle within eyesight to the front, side of rear of our vehicle. Vehicle resumed driving on cruise. No warning prior to the event. Vehicle was taken to the local Hyundai dealership on 12/30/2021 for diagnosis, the mileage was 21066. The technician reported no DTC's found and suggested it might have been caused by the windshield mounted "dash cam", the "dashcam" was not in a position where it could possibly interfere with the vehicle camera, (it has been in the same position since vehicle purchase and remains in the same position today), possibly some critter that ran out in front of us and we did not notice it or maybe a big bug flew into the vehicle. also there was no obstruction to the forward vehicle radar. The vehicle was not road tested. This fault since the first instance has not happened again. this fault has been noted by other owners on various Hyundai owners blogs. This vehicle has FCA + Pedestrian, SCC, LKA.
The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle there were multiple warning messages displayed on the instrument panel and the vehicle would not accelerate to exceed 10 MPH. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who disconnected the battery and reset the computer and the failure was remedied. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000.
"FCA" system disabled radar blocked" error came on while test driving on 3 separate occasions but no diagnostic code recorded, prior to taking possession they replaced a camera they thought to be the cause 11 days later during a snowy morning I got the same error again. Again it didn't register a code and I was told by the dealership no code, no problem. Spoke with Hyundai customer relations and was told I have to take it back to the dealership for them to diagnose it, and the condition has to be reproduced for them to note the error but We have not had snow since that morning therefore the system error has not reappeared. The likelihood of being able to reproduce the circumstance during business hours and be able to get it to them to witness the situation is minuscule at best. If this safety feature is deactivated when something as simple as a snowflake blocks the sensor then it isn't really a safety feature. The safety features contributed to my decision to purchase this vehicle (Nov 1st) but all I am told was the radar was blocked and therefore caused the deactivation, but again how can something as simple as a snowflake cause this error and the manufacturer not address this as a safety concern.
The dome lighting, lights do not go off when the doors are closed. I check repeatedly to make sure that all doors are closed. The dome gets extremely extremely hot. I believe this could very easily be a fire hazard. This has happened 3 times this year 2021.
I purchased a pre-owned certified 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe from a Hyundai dealership on 10/13/2020 and the vehicle had 21,770 miles. Then on 10/25/2021 (vehicle mileage was 31,950), I was driving my vehicle on the onramp to i-10 West lanes at Gessner Road. As I was accelerating at 40 mph to enter the freeway, my car engine seized and immediately I lost the ability to accelerate since the engine died. I immediately pulled over and had my car towed to the local Hyundai Dealership, HUB Hyundai Mitsubishi West. The Hyundai Dealership Service Manager, Daniel Castillo (832-739-6353), inspected my vehicle and after an inspection of the engine/underside of the vehicle, Hyundai found no damage or impact on the vehicle or the underside of the vehicle besides a missing drain plug. Their analysis concluded that the full result of the mechanical issue with the engine was a result of the missing drain plug which caused the oil to leak from the engine. Hyundai denied the warranty on the engine citing due to the drain plug issue is a direct result of a third party, Brake Check, that recently changed the oil (See attachment). The Brake Check Store #545 (11564 Westheimer Road, Houston TX 77077) had conducted recent oil changes performed on the vehicle on 12/8/2020 when the vehicle had 24,300 miles and on 5/5/2021 when the vehicle had 27,681 miles. I filed a claim (#3419328-1) with Brake Check for the damages however after 5 months of correspondences I was denied since I could not prove they did anything and the drain plug was missing. I also tried to file a claim with my personal auto insurance carrier, Progressive, however I was denied since the claim did not involve an accident. There was no warning lights that ever appeared on my dash prior to the incident. However, when I did go home that evening, I noticed a fresh large oil stain on my driveway were my car had previously be parked. The oil stain just occurred that day (See attached photo)
The engine stalled while driving on highway at 65 miles per hour. When I tried to push the gas the vehicle was resisting to speed. When I took a nearest exit, the car suddenly jerked and slowed on its own without me pressing any brakes. Somehow I managed to drive to a nearest parking area and called for assistance. When it jerked and slowed suddenly the person behind me honked so hard. May be the person barely missed hitting my back of the car. It was a scary experience.
The car engine completely shuts off while driving multiple times. While driving on highway and the streets the car just stops almost causing an accident. In order to get the car off the road we had to move it physically off the road.
Stop / Start does not engage at stop light. Dealer finally replace battery and battery cable. This did fix problem. I understand this could be a starter problem and or software problem. The battery does not charge above the 70% required to engage stop /start.
While pulling into a parking space at an extremely low speed, foot tapping the brake, the car excelerated (uncommanded) at what appeared to be full throttle. Depressing the brake had little to no effect and the vehicle stopped after hitting a metal pole. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was determined to be a total loss. The airbags did not deploy.
THE IDLE DOWN FEATURE STOPPED WORKING SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. NO CHANGE IN HOW THE ENGINE RUNS WHEN WE GET TO A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT. WHEN WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP MAYBE IN FEBRUARY, THEY SAID THEY HADN'T SEEN THE PROBLEM YET. MY WIFE FOUND AN ARTICLE ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND IT SAID THAT SEVERAL CARS HAD CAUGHT FIRE OR STALLED IN TRAFFIC. TAKING IT TO THE DEALER ON 5/4/2021. THE REAR POWER GATE ALSO HAS STARTED MALFUNCTIONING. NOT SURE IF THEY ARE RELATED AS OF YET.
I ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE, BUT THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT DIRECTLY STRAIGHT, IT WAS SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT. IF IAM PARKING UP OR DOWN HILL I MUST TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TOWARDS THE CURB. IF I CONTINUE TO DO THIS, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK UP, AND THE KEY WILL NOT TURN IN THE IGNITION.
MY WIFE WAS DROPPING OFF A FRIEND AT HIS HOUSE USING THE BRAKES TO COME TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED INTO THE GARAGE DAMAGING THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE GARAGE. I CAN ONLY INCLUDE THE VEHICLE PHOTO DUE TO PHOTO SIZE LIMITATIONS. HER FRIEND WAS A WITNESS TO THE ACCIDENT I ESTIMATE TOTAL DAMAGE TO GARAGE AND VEHICLE TO BE $10000. HYUNDAI SAID TO CALL BACK TOMORROW.
MY SUNROOF EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. NO CARS WERE ANYWHERE AROUND US, WE WERE NOT NEAR ANY OVERPASSES, THERE WAS NO ROAD DEBRIS & NOTHING HIT OUR CAR. THERE WAS ONE LOUD BANG LIKE THE SOUND OF A RIFLE SHOT.
CAR WAS IN MOTION APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH WHEN SOME UNIDENTIFIED, UNSEEN OBJECT CRASHED INTO THE SLIDING PANORAMIC ROOF. THE RESULT WAS A 12 X 8 INCH HOLE AND A SPIDERWEB OF CRACKS THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE GLASS. FORTUNATELY, THE INSIDE COVER WAS CLOSED AND THE DRIVER WAS NOT INJURED. THE OBJECT WAS NOT RECOVERED. IT WILL TAKE 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS FOR THE REPAIR COMPANY TO ORDER AND RECEIVE THE REPLACEMENT. THE CAR IS UNUSABLE TILL THEN.
WE WERE SITTING AT RED LIGHT IN A BUSY INTERSECTION AT NIGHT AND THE VEHICLE STARTED HESITATING AND CUT OFF. WE TRIED PRESSING THE AUTOMATIC START AND IT KEPT HESITATING AND EVERYTHING WENT BLACK ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.AFTER 3RD TIME IT STARTED AND WE WERE ABLE TO GET HOME. IT STARTED HAVING MORE HESITATION WHILE TO GO UP HILLS AND LOW SPEEDS. THE AUTOMATIC START /STOP ALSO STOPPED WORKING IN THE VEHICLE. I ALSO WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE BLUE LINK SYSTEM, THEY WERE HAVING TO RESET IT EACH MONTH UNTIL THEY DECIDED TO MAKE A TICKET FOR REPAIR IN WHICH TOOK A MONTH OR SO IN ORDER FOR THE ENGINEERS TO SEE IF IT WAS DEFAULT ON THERE END. THEN THEY DECIDED TO SET ME UP FOR A APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT THROUGH HYUNDAI, WHICH NOW THEY SAW I HAVE TO HAVE WHOLE NEW HEAD RADIO HEAD UNIT WITH BLUE LINK AND ALSO A NEW TRANSMISSION. PURCHASED BRAND NEW AND IT HAS LOW MILEAGE AND NEED TRANSMISSION. I'M LOOSING FAITH IN HYUNDAI!

IT'S A RENTAL CAR. IT WAS A SNOW DAY AND HIT ON THE CONCRETE WALL BUT THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. COMPARED TO THE DAMAGE TO THE CAR, IT IS A SAFETY CONCERNS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2019 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, A THICK, GRAYISH SMOKE ENTERED THE VEHICLE CABIN FROM THE REAR, PASSENGER SIDE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND REQUESTED ALL OCCUPANTS TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. AS THE CONTACT BEGAN TO CALL 911, AN OFFICER NEARBY CAME OVER TO ASSIST THE CONTACT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EVENTUALLY ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED AND BOTH A FIRE AND POLICE REPORTS WERE FILED. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE INITIALLY TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND ONCE INSURANCE WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE, THEY DEEMED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. THE INSURANCE THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT REMAINED IN THEIR POSSESSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INITIALLY OFFERED TO ASSIST THE CONTACT WITH THE PURCHASE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. HYUNDAI THEN SENT OUT AN INVESTIGATOR TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND THEIR ASSESSMENT DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE WIRING HARNESS ATTACHED TO THE TRAILER HITCH. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF THE INVESTIGATION. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000. *BF CONSUMER FILED A CLAIMED WITH U-HAUL THEY SPOKE TO HYUNDAI AND HYUNDAI BLAMES ON WIRING HITCH BECAUSE IT WAS INSTALLED AFTER PURCHASED.*JB
MY 2019 HYUNDAI SANTA FE HAD SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHILE I WAS TRYING TO PARK THE CAR IN THE PARKING LOT. IT SUDDENLY CROSSED OVER THE PARKING CEMENT BLOCK AND JUMPED INTO THE SIDEWALK LANDSCAPE AND THEN STOPPED. THE AIRBAG ALSO DEPLOYED DUE TO THIS INCIDENT. I DID NOT STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, WHEN THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED UP, ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY CAUSING THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASH INTO A WATER PIPE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWEDFOLSOM LAKE HYUNDAI (12530 AUTO MALL CIR, FOLSOM, CA 95630; (916) 293-4760) WHO WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE THEREFORE WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED TWICE WITHIN THE LAST 18 MONTHS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30-35 MPH ON CURVY BACK ROAD WHEN SUDDENLY THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND THE CAR WENT INTO THE ONCOMING LANE. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC OR IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A HEAD ON COLLISION. AFTERWARDS THE STEERING WHEEL EXHIBITED A POPPING/THUD NOISE WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY. DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. THAT TOOK ALMOST A MONTH. THEN THEY REPLACED THE RACK AND THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT. THAT STILL DIDN'T FIX THE SOUND. NOW THEY ARE REPLACING A CLOCK SPRING. THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S WRONG AND ARE JUST THROWING PARTS AT THE CAR HOPING IT'S FIXED. IT'S BEEN 44 DAYS AND GOING ON 3 REPAIRS. HYUNDAI SAYS I DON'T MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A BUYBACK OR EXCHANGE AND HAVE FRANKLY BEEN EXTREMELY RUDE. I WILL NEVER TRUST THIS CAR WITH HOW THIS HAS BEEN HANDLED AND WILL NEVER BE GIVING MY BUSINESS TO THEM AGAIN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
STOPPED THE CAR AT A RED LIGHT AND THE IDLE STOP AND GO (ISG) FEATURE HAS TURNED OFF THE ENGINE... ONCE THE GREEN LIGHT TURNED ON, I PRESSED GAS AND THE ENGINE DID NOT START AND AFTER COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS ALL WARNING LIGHTS TURNED ON AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO USE THE KEY TO START THE ENGINE ASWELL. AND SO I HAD TO TURN OFF THE KEY COMPLETELY AND THEN START THE ENGINE... BOUGHT THE CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED CAR AT 38000 MILES IN FEB 2020 AND THIS HAPPENED ONLY ONCE IN AUGUST 2020 AND THE MILEAGE WAS ABOUT 39800 DURING THAT TIME. LUCKILY I HAD ONLY ONE CAR AT MY BACK WHO HONKED ON ME CONTINUOUSLY... I WAS NOT ABLE TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE AFTERWARDS BUT TO BE HONEST I KEPT ONLY ABOUT 50 MILES SINCE THEN. I AM AFRAID IF I WOULD GET STALLED ONE FINE DAY... AND ALSO AFRAID HYUNDAI SERVICE CENTER WOULD JUST SAY NOT REPRODUCIBLE AND MAY JUST SAY TO TURN OFF THE FEATURE MAY BE?
THE HEADLIGHTS ON DIM WILL GIVE THE ONCOMING CAR THE " BRIGHTS EFFECT" ON ROUGH UP AND DOWN ROADS. RESULTING IN THE ONCOMING CAR GIVING ME THE "BRIGHTS FLASH" OR JUST LEAVING THEIR VEHICLE 'BRIGHTS' ON PERMANENTLY. THIS IS VERY BLINDING AND DANGEROUS. SEEMS THERE IS A FINE LINE OF BEING DIM OR BRIGHT ON THESE TYPES OF HEADLIGHTS. I HAVE HAD THEM INSPECTED BY THE DEALER AND TOLD THEY ARE OK. THERE ARE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. THIS IS NIGHT TIME DRIVING.
A CAR VEERED OFF IN MY LANE AND THE LANE KEEPING ASSIST FEATURE VEERED ME OFF IN ANOTHER LANE AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER CAR. I HAD TO FILE A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND HAD TO GET THE VEHICLE FIXED.
I HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE I GOT THE CAR, ONLY THE ISSUE HAS OCCURED PROGRESSED MORE AS MONTHS WENT BY. NOW AT 21,000 MILES, ENGINE MAKES A RATTLE SOUND FOR 2-3 SECONDS DURING COLD STARTUP AND THEN GOES AWAY. ONLY HAPPENS WHEN ENGINE IS IN A COMPLETE COLD-STATE (EARLY MORNING) OR NOT DRIVEN FOR A FEW HOURS.
•What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? When ambient temperature is at or below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, sufficient heat is not produced from the vehicles defroster to keep the windshield from icing. Also, sufficient heat is not produced to keep vehicle occupants warm. A Hyundai dealership confirmed the problem and replaced the thermostat, but the problem still persists. •How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Visibility through the windshield cannot be maintained. Also, the cabin temperature is insufficient for safe transport of young children. •Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. •Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? It has been inspected and confirmed by a Hyundai dealership. The problem persists and has been an issue since the vehicle was purchased in 2019. AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE COMPUTER HAS ATTEMPTED TO PULL THE CAR OUT OF THE LANE INTO THE ADJOINING LANE AS IF IN ATTEMPT TO AVOID SOMETHING. THIS IS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED'S ABOUT SIX TIMES. VEHICLE ALSO AT ONE TIME APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AS THE VEHICLE IS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION AS AN EMERGENCY STOP. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP THE REPRESENTATIVE IMMEDIATELY SUGGESTED THAT THERE WAS A RODENT PROBLEM. THIS WAS CONFIRMED NOT TO BE THE CASE.AS THERE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY OTHER COMPUTER MESSAGING THE TECHNICIAN SUGGESTED THAT MAYBE IT WAS THE CALIFORNIA FASTRACK RESPONDER UNIT. THEY SUGGESTED IT BE RELOCATED WHICH I DID. THE PROBLEM LIES THAT YOU'RE NOT SURE THAT THIS IS WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM AND THE SUGGESTION 'TO DRIVE IT TO SEE IF IT REPEATED' AS IT DOES NOT SOUND PRUDENT FROM A SAFETY PERSPECTIVE. THE COMPUTER PULLS AT A HARD LEVEL WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN THE VEHICLE IN THE LANE AND IT SUDDENLY RELEASES THE PULLING WHICH JERKS THE CAR BACK INTO THE DRIVING LANE MUCH LIKE AN OVER CORRECTION. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON 11/11/2019 WHEN MY 2019 HYUNDAI SANTA FE HAD A SIGNIFICANT FAILURE OF THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM. THE TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME BRAKED SUDDENLY AFTER TRAVELLING AT APPROXIMATELY 40MPH. THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE WARNING DID NOT SOUND AND WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES, ABS DID NOT ACTIVATE AND THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. I MADE CONTACT WITH THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF ME. NONE OF THE THREE STAGES OF THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM ACTIVATED. THE MALFUNCTION CAUSED THE BRAKES TO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE COLLISION OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 10MPH. THERE WAS OVER $12,000 DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE SANTA FE BUT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAVE DRIVEN OVER 1,000,000 COLLISION-FREE MILES IN VARIOUS VEHICLES, WITH AND WITHOUT COLLISION AVOIDANCE. THIS ACCIDENT WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED BUT FOR THE MALFUNCTION OF THE CAS. I REPORTED THIS TO HYUNDAI USA. I TOOK MORE THAN ONE WEEK FOR A REPLY. HYUNDAI'S POSITION WAS THAT THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE BUT IT WOULD MEAN THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE FOR 10 WEEKS OR MORE, WITHOUT A TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. THERE HAS BEEN NO RESOLUTION WITH HYUNDAI.

THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD NOT STOP, I PUMPED THE BRAKES TO STOP AND WHEN IT WOULD NOT STOP, I QUICK SLAMMED THE VEHICLE INTO THE PARK POSITION TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM HITTING A TRACKER AND CAUSING FURTHER DAMAGE OR INJURY. I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE AGENT AND THEN I CONTACTED ENTERPRISE RENTAL COMPANY IN BEND OREGON. I WAS ON HOLD FOR ROUGHLY 30 MIN. I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS THEY KNEW OF AND THEY ADVISED ME TO CONTACT THEIR TOW COMPANY AND HAVE IT TOWED TO THE AIRPORT IN REDMOND OREGON TO SWITCH OUT THE VEHICLES. I RESEARCHED ON MY OWN AND FOUND THAT THEIR WAS A SIMILAR INCIDENT IN LAS VEGAS, NV REPORTED IN JANUARY 31ST, 2018. THIS INCIDENT NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE ISG MAY BE A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IN THIS CASE.
THIS IS A REPORT ON A 2019 HYUNDAI SANTA FE 2.0L TURBO WITH LESS THAN 1600 MILES. THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE OIL. ALLOWABLE LIMITS ARE LESS THAN 2.0% FROM NORMAL CAUSES. THIS ENGINE HAS 3.3%, ENOUGH TO BE A PROBLEM.THE OIL LEVEL IS RISING ON THE STICK. THE 5W/30 OIL HAS BEEN THINNED TO THE CONSISTENCY OF 20W OIL. DEALER SHRUGGED IT OFF AND CLAIMED THAT DRIVING A 100 MILE TRIP WOULD RETURN ALL TO NORMAL.

I CONTACTED THE HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH CASE # 16268782 ADDRESSING THE ISSUE AND REQUESTED THE COMPENSATION FOR $4,500 EACH FOR MYSELF AND MY OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS OF TWO IN THE CAR FOR EMOTIONAL STRESS, FEAR, ANGER AND ANXIETY DURING THE TRIP . THEY SEND ME A RESPONSE THAT HYUNDAI IS ONLY ABLE TO OFFER REIMBURSEMENT FOR HYUNDAI OWNERS WHICH IS ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR. TODAY, I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR, INDICATING THAT I SHOULD NOT CALL, EMAILS REGARDING THIS ISSUE TO ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR AREA MANAGER, AS THEY DONE THEIR PART TO TAKE THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND MY FUTURE EMAIL WILL BE CONSIDER AS HARASSMENTS TO THEM. WE HAVE BEEN SUFFERING FROM EMOTION STRESS, FEAR, AND ANXIETY DURING THE TRIP, AND HYUNDAI WOULD SEND A COMPENSATION TO ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR AND ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR ASKING TO NOT TO FURTHER CONTACT THEM REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
