1ST WEEK OF JUNE 2014, NOTICED STEERING WAS MAKING NOISES WHEN TURNING. CHECKED PSF AND WAS LOW. ADDED AND WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT TREE WEEKS. THEN BAM !! SOMETHING BUSTED BEHIND ENGINE. LOTS OF FLUID BETWEEN ENGINE AND FIREWALL. PSF OF COARSE. STEERING BECAME EXTREMELY STIFF AND BARELY GOT THE VEHICLE HOME. LUCKY I DIDN'T HAVE AN ACCIDENT. CAR WOULDN'T TURN EXCEPT WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE. AND I'M 76 YR F. I COULD HAVE INJURED OR KILLED MYSELF OR OTHERS UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS LIKE MUCH HIGHER SPEEDS. HOW'S ANYONE TO KNOW SOMETHING LIKE WILL OCCUR AT ANY GIVEN TOTALLY UNEXPECTED MOMENT. I KNOW OF A RECALL ABOUT UNDER CARRIAGE OR SUB-FRAME RUST AND SERIOUS PARTS BREAKING OFF. SOMETHING GAVE AND SOMETHING BROKE DOWN THERE AND THE VEHICLE IS NOW INOPERABLE. *TR
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE WHEN I HEARD A POP SOUND THAT HAD CAME FROM THE CURBSIDE OF THE VEHICLE THEN THE CAR STARTED PULLING TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DID NOT REALLY THINK TO MUCH ABOUT BECAUSE THOUGHT NEEDED TO JUST HAVE ALIGNMENT DONE TO THE VEHICLE THEN NEXT FRIDAY I HAD TAKE THE CAR TO HAVE THE ALIGNMENT DONE ON THE VEHICLE THEY CALLED ME AND SAID THAT THE SUB-FRAME OF THE VEHICLE WAS RUSTED IN HALF AND THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I LOOKED UP THE RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AND SEEN WHERE IT HAD A RECALL FOR THE SUB-FRAME RUSTING AND SET UP A APT . TO HAVE IT TAKEN CARE OF BUT THEY ARE SAYING THAT SINCE MY CAR IS NOT REGISTERED IN ONE OF THE SALT-BELT STATES THAT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO HONOR THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH THE RUST IS THERE AND THE SUB-FRAME IS RUSTED IN HALF AND THE LOWER CONTROL ARM IS RUSTED OFF. MY SON WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE AND WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN. DURING THE TURN, THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BUCKLED UNDER AND THE VEHICLE BECAME INOPERABLE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY. THEY FOUND THAT THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT CORROSION IN THE SUB-FRAME WHICH CAUSED IT TO FAIL. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON NHTSA SITE AND IT APPEARS THAT CAMPAIGN 09V124000 DESCRIBES THE ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED HYUNDAI. THEY HAVE INSTRUCTED ME TO HAVE TO VEHICLE DELIVERED TO LOCAL DEALER FOR INSPECTION TO DETERMINE IF IT IS COVERED UNDER A RECALL PROGRAM. THEIR FIRST RESPONSE WAS TO TELL ME THAT THE RECALL WAS ONLY COVERING CERTAIN STATES, KENTUCKY NOT BEING ONE OF THEM. WHEN I TOLD THEM I HAD PURCHASED THE CAR USED AND HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING WHAT OTHER STATES THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN, THEY AGREED TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THE VEHICLE REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED SINCE THE DAMAGE IS AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. *TR
WHILE CLEANING OUT THE VEHICLE, I HAD THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OPEN AND WHEN I WENT TO SHUT THE DOOR, THE WIND TOOK IT AND IT SLAMMED SHUT. AS A RESULT, THE AIR BAG ON THE SIDE OF THE SEAT DEPLOYED. AFTER RESEARCHING, I FOUND THAT MODELS OF MY VEHICLE HAD SIMILAR RECALLS WITH THE SAME SUMMARY OF INCIDENTS. I SPOKE WITH THE NATIONAL DEALER HOTLINE AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE MISSED THE RECALL BY 3 DAYS. I AM NOW WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM A SERVICEMAN TO SEE IF THEY CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 33 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE STRUCK A POTHOLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A NECK INJURY THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED AND FAILED TO SUPPORT THE CONTROL ARM. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V124000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY DRIFT TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE VEHICLE WHENEVER DRIVING OVER AN UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HOWEVER, NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,086.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT SUBFRAME MOTOR AND SUSPENSION WAS FOUND TO BE SEVERELY CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 09V124000 (SUSPENSION) THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 202,000. *TR
WE HAD OUR VEHICLE WARRANTIED FOR THE ROTTEN FRAME ON OUR VEHICLE LAST YEAR. AT THAT POINT YOU WOULD THINK HYUNDAI WOULD HAVE WARNED US THAT OUR BRAKE LINES WERE SWISS CHEESE JUST LIKE OUR FRAME, THESE CARS ROT OUT, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE IS A DEATH TRAP. THE BRAKE LINES BROKE 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS AFTER SECTIONS WERE ALREADY REPLACED. THESE VEHICLES NEED ALL THE BRAKE AND FUEL LINES REPLACED IMMEDIATELY!!! THIS IS NOT ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY!! THE POWER STEERING LINE ROTTED OUT 5 YEARS AGO, THIS CAR WAS MADE OUT OF REALLY CRAPPY METAL. DANGEROUS VEHICLE. EVERYTHING ON THIS VEHICLE IS ROTTED OUT BEYOND WHAT IS NORMAL, THE WHEELS, THE BRAKE DRUMS, EVERYTHING ON THESE VEHICLES ROT TO THE POINT OF SWISS CHEESE. AFTER 10 YEARS THESE VEHICLES ARE VERY UNSAFE. OUR VEHICLE ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
FUEL TANK HAS SPLIT IN HALF DUE TO POOR WELDING. SEEMS TO BE VERY SIMILAR TO THE ISSUE WITH 1998 HYUNDAI SONATA. 3-4 GALLONS OF GAS LEAKED ONTO THE GROUND WITHIN A FEW HOURS. *TR
AFTER HAVING INCREASED DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING THE CAR, I TOOK IT TO MY TIRE DEALER FOR AN ALIGNMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME BECAUSE THE FRAME WAS "BROKEN" AND WAS SHREDDING MY REAR TIRES. I CALLED HYUNDAI CORPORATE AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SUBFRAME AND WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE CAR TO MY LOCAL DEALER FOR INSPECTION. UPON INSPECTION, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS COVERED ON THE RECALL AND LEFT IT WITH THEM FOR TWO DAYS FOR REPAIR. WHEN I PICKED THE CAR UP, I WAS TOLD THAT THE FRONT WAS REPAIRED AT NO COST TO ME, HOWEVER, THE REAR (WHICH IS WHAT I WENT IN FOR) WAS IN VERY BAD SHAPE BUT IT WAS NOT COVERED AND WOULD COST ME $1,500 TO REPAIR IT. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW THE FRONT OF A FRAME CAN BE PART OF A RECALL, BUT THE REAR IS NOT. ????? AND I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE LOCAL DEALER DIDN'T CALL TO TELL ME THIS BEFORE HE DID THE WORK ON THE FRONT. HAD I KNOWN HOW MUCH IT WAS GOING TO COST ME, I WOULD HAVE TOLD HIM NOT TO BOTHER. SHOULD I CHOOSE TO KEEP THE CAR, IN ADDITION TO $1,500 TO REPAIR THE REAR FRAME, I WILL ALSO NEED TO BUY TWO TIRES TO REPLACE THE TWO WHICH THIS REAR FRAME IS SHREDDING. UNBELIEVABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING OVER A POT HOLE AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PULL TO THE LEFT INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FRONT END SUB FRAME CRADLE WAS COMPLETELY FRACTURED. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V124000 (SUSPENSION) HOWEVER, THE CONTACT'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,727.
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG CONNECTORS AND WIRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
THROTTLE BODY GOT STUCK WIDE OPEN THERE US A PIC OF THIS IN GETTYSBURG TIMES I GOT VIDEO OF THE CAR GOING WILD MY CAR DROVE INTO A SUPPORT LINE AND THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO. HAMILTON HYUNDAI - CHAMBERSBURG, PA HAD A FEW MECHANICS COME AND THEY TOLD ME TO CLEAN THE THROTTLE CAUSE IT WAS STICKING I HAVE NOT DONE SO AND WILL NOT UNTIL THEY ADMIT THERE AN ISSUE I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE WHEN IT THEN CRASHED AND TRAVELED UP THE SIDE SUPPORT WIRES FOR A TELEPHONE POLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND HIRED A THIRD-PARTY AGENCY TO FURTHER INSPECT THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE A CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE TO THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
AFTER HAVING REPAIRS DONE UNDER CAMPAIGN 089 SUB FRAME CORROSION BY HYUNDAI AND PAYING 500.00 FOR AXLE REPAIR, 2WKS LATER THE OPPOSITE WHEEL COLLAPSED OUT OF THE BALL JOINT. 900.00 REPAIR BILL AND DEALER INDICATED THIS WAS NOT RELATED TO THE SUB-FRAME RECALL. THIS IS NOW 2 INCIDENTS WHERE THE WHEELS FELL OFF THE CAR WHILE THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING THE CAR. BOTH WERE THANKFULLY AT LOW SPEEDS IN A PARKING LOT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD VEER TO THE RIGHT AND WOULD ALSO FAIL TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AXLE WAS FRACTURED DUE TO CORROSION OF THE FRAME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER FRONT DOOR HANDLE FAILED AND THE CHROME COATING FRACTURED AND SEPARATED FROM THE DOOR HANDLE. THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V171000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES) BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
THE RIGHT SIDE SUB-FRAME OF MY 02 HYUNDAI SONATA I JUST FOUND OUT HAS RUSTED THROUGH AND THE LOWER CONTROL ARM HAS SEPARATED CAUSING THE AXLE TO POP OUT, THIS HAPPENED AS I WAS DRIVING AND ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK... I THOUGHT I NEED ALIGNMENT BUT, FOUND OUT THAT I NEED REPLACE SUBFRAME. THE CAR IS VERY WELL MAINTAINED AND EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ONCE IN A NORTHERN STATE (THAT'S WHERE I BOUGHT IT..IN NEW YORK) I DO NOT THINK THIS UNEVEN RUSTING OF THE SUBFRAME IS NORMAL. I CHECKED AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS ACTUALLY A RECALL OF THIS VEHICLE FOR THE EXACT THIS SAME REASON, I AM PLANNING TO CALL HYUNDAI. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER INSTALLING A NEW AXLE ON THE VEHICLE, HE WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS INTERNAL CORROSION OF THE FRONT SUB-FRAME AND THINNING OF THE SUB-FRAME STEEL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V124000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE STARTED TO WOBBLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO BE MOVE OFF THE ROADWAY AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC ADVISED HIM THAT THE SUB FRAME WAS FRACTURED DUE TO CORROSION AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V124000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 125,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
OUR SON WHO WAS DRIVING OUR HYUNDAI 2002 SONATA NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOOSE AND IT FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS PULLING AND NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. WE TOOK IT IN TO HAVE AN ALIGNMENT AND THE MECHANIC CALLED US AND TOLD US THEY WERE UNABLE TO DO AN ALIGNMENT AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS MUCH MORE SERIOUS THAN THAT; THEY TOLD US THAT THE CRADLE RUSTED THROUGH AND THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. BECAUSE OF THIS IT ALSO DID DAMAGE TO THE TIRES. WE NOW HAVE A VEHICLE THAT IS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN BECAUSE IT IS NOT SAFE. I SHUTTER EVERY TIME I THINK WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED TO HIM OR HIS FRIENDS IF HE HAD BEEN ON THE ROAD OR GOD FORBID DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. WE LIVE IN A STATE WHERE SNOW IS A PART OF OUR LIVES; WE ALWAYS WORRY ABOUT DRIVING ON SNOW AND ICE BUT WE SHOULD NOT ALSO HAVE TO WORRY THAT OUR VEHICLE'S CRADLE WILL RUST THROUGH POTENTIALLY CAUSING HARM OR EVEN DEATH. *TR

I CHECKED AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS ACTUALLY A RECALL OF THIS VEHICLE FOR THE EXACT THIS SAME REASON, I CALLED HYUNDAI AND THE REPRESENTATIVE LIED TO MY EAR THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THAT RECALL AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP AND PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF. THIS IS UNCONSCIONABLE AND SHOULDN'T BE SO. I WISH I CAN GET SOME HELP. *TR
I FINANCED MY CAR IN AND AROUND 3YRS AGO, IT WAS ON 48,000 WHICH WE THOUGHT WAS SUCH A GREAT DEAL. TABS AND REG. WAS DO COMING UP IN DEC WHICH WAS AND HOW OUR NITEMARE BEGAN, WE WERE TO GO GET EMISSIONS DONE LOW AND BEHOLD IT DIDN'T FAIL BUT ALSO DID NOT PASS IT CAME BACK NOT READY, WE DROVE IT FOR HRS WENT BACK STILL NOT READY,WE THEN HAD TO GET TABS SO CAR WOULD NOT GET TOWED. THE NEXT YEAR NO EMISSIONS, THIS YEAR STILL NOT READY AND UNABLE TO GET TABS, WE ACTUALLY FOUND OUT PROBLEMS WAY BEFORE US, MY QUESTION IS SHOULD THEY HAVE EVEN SOLD THAT CANNOT BE REGISTERED NOR TABBED, IN FACT I FILL THAT SOMEONE AT HYUNDAI NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT, WE EVEN PURCHASED IT FROM HYUNDAI IN RENTON, WA. MY 2002 HYUNDAI SONATA RADIO COMES ON AND OFF WHEN EVER IT WANTS TO AND I NOTICE WHEN IT RAINS IT MAKES A REALLY LOUD NOISE. I HAVE TO REPLACE AN ALTERNATOR 3 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 3 YEARS. NOT SURE WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS BUT IT IS VERY ANNOYING. PLEASE HELP! *TR
MY CAR HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING PULLING TO THE RIGHT AND I WAS REPLACING THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE EVERY WEEK. IT FELT AS IF THE TIRE WAS GOING TO FALL OFF. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM I FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL AND SETTLEMENT FROM HYUNDAI. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO IN TURN GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER AND HAD BE TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY INSPECTED THE CAR AND DETERMINED THAT MY CAR DIDN'T FIT THE CRITERIA. CHROME PLATED INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE ON DRIVER'S SIDE BEGAN PEELING, LEAVING VERY SHARP EDGES, WHICH CUT MY FINGER. WE COVERED THE HANDLE WITH TAPE TO PROTECT FROM FUTURE CUTS. I LOOKED FOR A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS PART AND FOUND ONE AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR MYSELF. ONCE AGAIN I NICKED MY FINGER ON IT. RECENTLY HAD A REPAIR DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED THE ADVISER ABOUT THE PROBLEM HE SAID HE HAD NO RECORD OF A RECALL. I FOUND THE RECALL ONLINE & SHOWED HIM. HE SAID I SHOULD CALL HYUNDAI,.I SPOKE TO A REP @ HYUNDAI WHO TOLD ME THAT EVEN THOUGH I MAY HAVE A PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN 10/2001, WHICH MEANS I DON'T REALLY HAVE THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL I WAS FURIOUS. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON A COUNTY ROAD DOING APPROX. 45 MPH. THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE SUDDENLY TILTED 50 DEGREES INWARD AND SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE AUTO. AFTER NEARLY MISSING A TELEPHONE POLE, SHE PLOWED INTO A CORN FIELD AND CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP. SHE SUFFERED A SPRAINED WRIST FROM STEERING WHEEL "WHIP" AND BRUISED HER KNEE IN THE ACCIDENT. THE METAL IN THE FRAME HAD RUSTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE BY PREVIOUS UNDER-CARRIAGE REPAIRS, SUCH AS TIRE CHANGE, OIL CHANGE ETC. THE CAR HAS HAD SUPERB MAINTENANCE THROUGHOUT ITS HISTORY AND HAS BEEN BOUGHT AND SOLD WITHIN THE SAME FAMILY SINCE BEING BOUGHT NEW BY THE SON IN 2002. WEDNESDAY, 11-10-11, SCHEDULED AN ALIGNMENT WITH FIRESTONE COMPLETE AUTO CARE. HOWEVER, AFTER EXAMINING THE VEHICLE, I WAS TOLD BY THEIR MECHANIC THAT THE FRONT RIGHT FRAME WAS CRACKED AND SEPARATING, AND THE CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. CONTACTED MYRTLE BEACH HYUNDAI (MBH)TO EXPLAIN PROBLEM, AND TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. THURSDAY, 11-11-11, MBH CONFIRMED THAT THE FRAME IS CRACKED AND SEPARATING. TOLD US THAT IT WOULD BE REPLACED AT NO COST TO US BECAUSE OF A RECALL, AND THAT CURRENTLY THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE. HOWEVER, WE WERE TOLD THAT A NEW REPLACEMENT FRAME PART WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL THE END OF NEXT WEEK. ALSO, WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY ASSOCIATED PARTS TO REPLACE THE BROKEN FRAME, SUCH AS BOLTS, BUSHINGS, AND ETC. IF THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FURTHERMORE, WE WERE TOLD THAT MBH WOULD NOT PROVIDE US WITH A LOANER VEHICLE DURING THIS RECALL REPAIRS, AND WE WOULD HAVE TO RENT A VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST A WEEK. AFTER THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEW FUEL PUMP MY VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE TO START, THE GAS WAS TAKING TO LONG TO GET TO THE INJECTORS. AFTER RESEARCHING I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL NOT REMEMBERING ANYTHING ABOUT IT OR HAVING A VALVE INSTALLED. I RECENTLY TOOK MY 2002 HYUNDAI SONATA TO KROGER GAS STATION TO FILL UP MY TANK THAT WAS ON 1/4 FULL. I ENDED UP GOING TO A BP GAS STATION BC I THOUGHT MAYBE IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE KROGER PUMP, BUT THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I ENDED UP PUMPING $16 OF GAS WHICH TOOK ME ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO DO! I HAVE 71,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND JUST STARTED HAVING THIS PROBLEM 2 DAYS AGO. GAS WILL NOT PUMP MORE THEN A FEW CENTS BEFORE IT SHUTS OFF AND I AM WORRIED THAT I WILL RUN OUT OF GAS AS WELL BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO FILL IT UP EITHER IF PEOPLE HAVE PROBLEM WITH GAS SPEWING OUT. *TR

RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 02V145000; AIR BAGS: SIDE/WINDOW WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE WHICH DOESNT INCLUDE HIS VIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED HIM THAT THEY HAD TO PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC TEST TO SEE WHAT CAUSED THE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE CONSTANTLY. THE CONTACT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
