TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE VISOR CAME DOWN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND IMPACTED THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. UPDATED 10/25/17*LJ *AS
SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY MALFUNCTION - CAR WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION DUE TO AIR BAG LIGHT ON. ENTIRE ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED AT A COST OF ALMOST $500. *TR
UNDER REGULAR DRIVING CONDITIONS THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD BECOME SO HARD THAT THEY COULD NOT BE PRESSED DOWN, THE SPEED WOULD DECLINE TO 5 MILES PER HOUR AND THE CAR WOULD START SMOKING. THE ABS AND ESC LIGHT WOULD COME AND WOULDN'T GO OFF UNTIL CAR IS TURNED OFF. THIS S DUE TO A FAULTY ABS HECU UNIT (HYDRAULIC AND ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT) AND THE RIGHT FRONT UPPER CONTROL ARM. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI WHO WOULDN'T PAY THE DEALER TO FIX MY 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA GLS V6 WITH 65,263 MILES. THEY ADVISED THAT THE ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY, HOWEVER, THE ABS HECU UNIT IS FAULTY. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR MYSELF AND FELLOW DRIVERS. *TR
ON MARCH 9TH, 2015, I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AFTER PICKING UP MY INFANT DAUGHTER FROM DAYCARE WHEN SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA; THE AIRBAG, ABS, AND ESC OFF WARNING LIGHTS. IN PREPARATION FOR THE UPCOMING LEFT TURN INTO MY NEIGHBORHOOD, I TAPPED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND COAST TO THE INTERSECTION. THE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT DISENGAGE. I APPLIED MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN, BUT UPON RELEASING THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO THE SET CRUISE SPEED. I NOW APPLIED AS MUCH PRESSURE AS I POSSIBLY COULD TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE CRUISE CONTROL SET LIGHT DID NOT DISENGAGE. THE SONATA DOWNSHIFTED AND REVVED UP TO 4K RPM ATTEMPTING TO OVERPOWER MY BRAKING. AT THIS POINT IT WAS TOO LATE TO AVOID THE INTERSECTION. I PLACED THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND SWERVED TO AVOID HITTING AN ONCOMING VEHICLE AND MEDIAN, AT THE TURN. THE SONATA SPUN OUT AND CAME TO REST IN THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANES AFTER OVERSHOOTING THE TURN. I VERIFIED MY DAUGHTER WAS UNINJURED THEN PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE SONATA, AT IDLE, THE REMAINING 1/8TH OF A MILE TO MY HOUSE. AFTER ARRIVING AT HOME, I VISITED HYUNDAI'S AND THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S VEHICLE RECALL INFORMATION WEB PAGES AND FOUND NO RECALLS REGARDING MY SONATA'S VIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT WHO WAS AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE HE DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR PARKING BRAKE PADS WERE RUSTED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY MOISTURE IN THE BRAKE PADS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
CAR SEEMED TO LOOSE ITS ABILITY TO TURN FOR A FEW SECONDS TWICE ON SAME DAY. SEATBELT LIGHT FLASHES THEN COULD NOT STEER CAR . I WAS GOING AROUND CURVE AND ALSO MY 16 YEAR OLD SON WAS ALSO. *TR
I HAVE BEEN GETTING AN AIRBAG LIGHT ON MY DASH. THE PROBLEM WAS TRACED TO THE DRIVERS' SIDE SEAT BELT. THIS IS ODD SINCE I ONLY HAVE 67,000 ON THE CAR, AND PROBABLY LESS THAN 10,000 ON THE CAR WITH A PASSENGER. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. THE SHOP SAID IT HAS TO DO WITH THE DRIVERS SEAT PRETENSIONER CIRCUIT. IN READING FOR ISSUES, I FOUND THAT THE ISSUE MAY BE COVERED BY WARRANT OF 15 YRS OR 250,000 AS AGREED BY HYUNDAI TO HAVE YOU CLOSE YOUR INVESTIGATION. I HAVE CALLED HYUNDAI REGARDING YOUR CASE NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE14023. THIS CASE WAS CLOSED BECAUSE HYUNDAI SAID THEY WOULD EXTEND THE WARRANTY - I AM CALLING THE HYUNDAI SERVICE DEPARTMENT - THEY SAY THEY DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS AGREEMENT. IN READING THE WEB FOR COMPLAINTS ABOUT HYUNDAI, IT LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE NOT RECOGNIZING THIS AGREEMENT WITH ANYONE. *JS
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS ENGAGED ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL. WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS EMPTY OF A PERSON OR ANY OBJECTS, THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT BLINKS. *TR
OIL LEAKED FROM VALVE COVER ONTO ALTERNATOR. ENGINE STALLED AND LEFT ME STRANDED ON RURAL MOUNTAIN ROAD. FINALLY GOT TOWED HOME. MECHANIC SAYS IT WILL COST NEARLY $1000 TO REPLACE VALVE COVER GASKETS AND ALTERNATOR. CAR IS 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA WITH 3.3L 6CYL ENGINE. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS THE SAME ENGINE AND SAME PROBLEM THAT PROMPTED THE RECALL ON 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V415000. THE EXISTING RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE MORE HYUNDAI VEHICLE MODELS THAT EXHIBIT THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
MY 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA'S AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO FAULTY PASSENGER SEAT BELT TENSIONER. THIS MATCHES THE DESCRIPTION STATED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE14023. THIS INVESTIGATION WAS CLOSED BECAUSE HYUNDAI WILL EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO 15 YEARS OR 250K MILES. MY HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP DOES NOT HONOR THIS WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY DID NOT GET NOTICE FROM CORPORATE. I CALLED HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CONNECT CENTER 1-855-671-3059 WITH THIS ISSUE AND PROVIDED THE NHTSA CASE NUMBER. I TALKED TO A AGENT AND HIS SUPERVISOR AND HIS SUPERVISOR. NEITHER ACKNOWLEDGE THE EXISTENCE OF THIS NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE14023. THEY SAID I HAD TO REPAIR THIS ON MY OWN COST. I AM SURPRISED TO HEAR THAT HYUNDAI JUST IGNORES THE AUTHORITY OF NHTSA ESPECIALLY ON THE AIRBAG ISSUE. I HAVE RECORDED THE PHONE CONVERSATION WITH BOTH SUPERVISORS FOR REFERENCE. *TR
IN JAN. 2015 IT WAS ON A 100 MILE HIGHWAY TRIP. UPON ARRIVAL HE NOTICED THE ENGINE DEVELOPED A KNOCKING NOISE. I FOUND MANY 2.4L HYUNDAI'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. THE ENGINE WAS MADE IN INDIANA. IT SOUNDS THE SAME AS NHSTA CAMPAIGN #15V-568. IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. I CAN'T UPLOAD IT, BUT I HAVE VIDEO OF THE KNOCKING. I BELIEVE THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO EARLIER YEARS
SINCE PURCHASING MY CAR NEW IN 2006, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE REPLACED TWICE. FIRST ON OCT 6, 2010, THEN ON OCT 25, 2013. BOTH TIMES IT WAS RELATED TO THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATING ON THE DASHBOARD AND STAYING ON CONSISTENTLY. IN 2010, I WAS TOLD IT WAS A FAULTY SEAT BELT PART. HYUNDAI REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY. IN 2013, I WAS AGAIN TOLD IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE SAME SEAT BELT PART, AND THIS TIME I WAS CHARGED $164.31 FOR THE REPLACEMENT. THIS WEEK, THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I CAN ONLY ASSUME IT'S, ONCE AGAIN, A FAULTY SEAT BELT BUCKLE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHO DID THE PREVIOUS REPAIR (DAVIS HYUNDAI IN NJ) AND THEY SAID IT WAS ONLY COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FOR 12 MONTHS.. SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT AGAIN. I GOOGLED THE ISSUE AND IT SEEMS TO BE UNDER INVESTIGATION BY YOUR GROUP. IT'S CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE.. I DON'T THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED AGAIN, AND REALLY I THINK HYUNDAI SHOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE FIRST REPAIR. IF THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE A SEAT BELT BUCKLE THAT FUNCTIONS PROPERLY, THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS MAKING CARS. ANY HELP WOULD BE HUGELY APPRECIATED. I PLANNED TO GO THROUGH THE BBB AS WELL, BUT WANTED TO ADD TO THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FILED. I HAVE RECORDS OF ALL PREVIOUS REPAIRS.

AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED. BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY SAID IT WAS A FAULTY SENSOR IN THE SEAT BELT LATCH. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD CAME ON AT APPROX. 101,550 MILES AND HAS REMAINED ON SINCE. MILEAGE NOW AT 102,049. LIGHT REMAINS ON REGARDLESS ON IF THERE IS A PASSENGER SEATED OR NOT. PLEASE ADVISE STATUS ON A RECALL FOR THIS DEFECT WHICH BY ALL THE READINGS COMPLAINTS NOTED ON LINE, IS FOR SURE AN ISSUE. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH MY AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY TWO YEARS AGO AT ABOUT 55,000 MILES. I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALER FOR A CORROSION RECALL AND SPOKE WITH THEM ABOUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT. THEY TOLD ME IF IT STAYS ON SOLID THEN RETURN AND THEY WILL LOOK INTO IT FOR ME. I PROBABLY COULD HAVE HAD IT REPAIRED AT THAT POINT HAD THEY LOOKED INTO IT FURTHER. SO NOW LIGHT IS ON ALL THE TIME, TOOK IT IN TODAY AND IT IS "SEAT BELT BUCKLES" THAT IS CAUSING ISSUE, REPAIR IS 700 DOLLARS AND NEED MY CAR FOR AT LEAST 4-5 DAYS. I AM GUESSING IT WILL TAKE ANOTHER CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT TO HAVE HYUNDAI STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AGAIN AND ISSUE RECALLS FOR IT'S CUSTOMERS. I CALLED CORPORATE AND INQUIRED ABOUT INVESTIGATIONS INTO MAKING THIS A RECALL BUT OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T GET ANYWHERE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INFORMED ME THAT THE AIR BAGS DO NOT WORK NOW AT ALL. I SAW MANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, HYUNDAI OBVIOUSLY DOES NOT HAVE THE SATISFACTION OR THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AS A PRIORITY. *TR
I NOTICE THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON. I TOOK IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER WITH IN A WEEK TO HAVE IT FIXED THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT FIX. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS SOMETHING IN THE SEAT BELT CONNECTION AND IT WAS ELECTROANAL OR SOME KIND OF SENSOR TO TURN THE LIGHT OFF. SO I ASKED WILL THE AIR BAG STILL WORK IF I WAS IN A ACCIDENT? THEY SAID NO BECAUSE ITS NOT MAKING THE RIGHT CONNECTION TO TURN OFF THE LIGHT AND ACTIVATE THE AIRBAG. SO THAT'S THE ONLY CAR I HAVE TO GO FROM HOME TO WORK AND BACK OR FOR ANYTHING ELSE. I WAS COMING OF SANFORD AVENUE JUST TURNED ON 3RD STREET HAD HEAD ON COLLISION HEAD HIT ROOF OFF CAR STOMACH HIT STEERING WHEEL KNEES HIT DASH BOARD WAS DIAGNOSED WITH VERTIGO AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY HERD ON RADIO CAR HAD RECAP ON CAR BECAUSE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY AFTER CAR WRECK. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
MY 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALER ON 12/9/15 AND AFTER A $120 DIAGNOSIS FEE WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE AND THAT THE COST WOULD BE NEAR $500. UNFORTUNATELY, I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE PART AND WAS TOLD THAT MY AIR BAGS WILL NOT WORK. I HAVE SEEN MANY MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE! *JS

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NOT EVEN A WEEK AGO AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON NOV. 25,2014. *TR
THERE IS A RECALL ON MY 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA FOR ISSUE CODE: B1448 WHICH MEANS OCS MAT DEFECT AND THIS MADE MY DASH AIR BAG ILLUMINATE AT TIMES, MEANING THE AIRBAG WOULDN'T HAVE DEPLOYED IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. FORTUNATELY, THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP SHOP DID NOT CHARGE ME TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SEAT SINCE IT IS A RECALL. HOWEVER, BEFORE THEY BEGAN TO PROCESS THE B1448 FIX, ANOTHER "SAFETY" ISSUE CODE CAME UP ON THEIR DIAGNOSTIC TEST SAYING "SEAT BELT BUCKLE PRETENSIONER: DRIVER RESISTANCE IS TOO HIGH" AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THIS IS ALSO CAUSING THE AIR BAG LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE, THUS THE AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY. SINCE MY CAR WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND THERE IS NO SAFETY RECALL ON THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE, I HAVE TO PAY A BIG BILL OUT OF MY OWN POCKET TO REPLACE THE BUCKLE PRETENSIONER. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS. NO ONE SHOULD PAY ANYTHING FOR A SAFETY ISSUE. UPON WEB RESEARCHING THERE HAS BEEN A GOOD NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE BUT YET THERE IS NO RECALL YET.
MY VEHICLE LIGHTS FOR THE ECS SYSTEM, SEAT BELT AND AIRBAG KEEPS ILLUMINATING. I TOOK IT TO HYUNDAI HERE IN JACKSONVILLE AND WAS TOLD THAT A DIAGNOSTIC FOR $94, WOULD NEED TO BE DONE TO SEE WHY THE ESC LIGHT IS ON. THE AIR BAG LIGHT WILL GO OFF WHEN THE SEAT CUSHION IS RECALIBRATED BUT, SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY SEAT BELTS(BOTH), SO IT WILL STAY ON AND THEREFORE THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY ON IMPACT, I PRAY THAT I DON'T GET INTO ANY ACCIDENTS TILL I FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. WHY AREN'T THE SEATS BELTS PART OF THE RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM? THEY WORK INCONJUNCTION WITH EACH OTHER.THE ESC WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN FIXED IN 09 BUT HERE IT IS 2014 AND THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING AGAIN, THE SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE. I HAVE TO PULL OVER TURN THE CAR OFF AND WAIT A MINUTE TO RESTART IT ONLY TO HAVE THE LIGHT COME ON AGAIN ONCE I START TO DRIVE. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS CAR, IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE SAFE. *TR

ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ESC OFF LIGHT TURNED ON MY VEHICLE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND FOUND THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE G SENSOR AND ESC MODULE. RESEARCHED IN THE NET AND FOUND THAT THIS ISSUE WAS REPORTED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE PAST FOR SIMILAR MODELS. THE COST OF REPLACING THE PIECE FROM OUT OF POCKET IS OUTRAGES AND NEED HELP IN GETTING ATTENTION FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO ADDRESS THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *TR
SUDDENLY, AN WARNING SIGN FOR AIR BAG APPEARED ON THE DASH BOARD. I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE TO DRIVE A CAR WITH AIR BAG ERROR SIGN. I BROUGHT MY TO MY MECHANIC. IT WAS DIAGNOSED DUE TO DEFECTIVE SENSOR IN A BUCKLE CLIP IN A FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THEN, I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO LOCAL DEALER BUT THEY DENIED TO REPAIR IN A WARRANTY OR RECALL. I HEARD THAT THE SAME DEFECT WAS NOT UNCOMMON IN SONATA AROUND THAT YEAR. IF SO, THIS DEFECT SHOULD BE COVERED BY RECALL. I LOVE MY SONATA AND HYUNDAI CAR! *TR
AIR BAG SENSOR FREQUENTLY MISTAKES AN ADULT FOR A CHILD AND TURNS OFF. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR AT 3 YEARS. AUTO HAD ABOUT 125000 MILES WHEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY WELL OVER $1,000 TO REPAIR THE AIR BAG SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT. INSTEAD, I BOUGHT BLACK TAPE TO COVER THE AIR BAG LIGHT. I THOUGHT THIS SAFETY DEFECT WOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED BY NOW. APPARENTLY, NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE, GIVEN THE REMAINING AIRBAG SENSORS MOST LIKELY WORK. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THINGS CAR. *TR

TAKATA RECALL - IN SEPTEMBER 2014 MY BATTERY WERE GOING DEAD. CHANGED BATTERY AND IT WENT DEAD ALSO. AFTER THE 4TH TIME FOR THE BATTERY TO GO DEAD, NOTICED THE SIDED BEAMS WERE ON. WHEN I HAD THE LIGHTS IN THE AUTO POSITION, WHEN GOING UNDERNEATH A BRIDGE, THE LIGHTS WILL COMES ON AND GOES OFF ACCORDINGLY TO THE LIGHT OUTSIDE. WHEN DAYLIGHT, YOU WILL NOT KNOW KNOWN IF YOUR LIGHTS ARE ON OR OFF. SO THIS WAS PROBLEM WAS THE CAUSE FOR MY BATTERY TO GO DEAD. STARTED NOTICING AT NIGHT WHEN TURNING OFF VEHICLE AFTER USING HEADLIGHTS, THE SIDE BEAMS WILL NOT CUT OFF UNTIL AFTER TRYING 15 TO 20 MINUTES OF TRYING TO TURNING IT OFF. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AT FIRST THEY THOUGHT IT WERE THE SWITCH. AFTER ONE HOUR OF WAITING, FOUND OUT IT WAS NOT THE SWITCH AND THEY HAD PUT THE OLD SWITCH BACK. STATED THAT IT WAS THE JUNCTION BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACE.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA YESTERDAY AND AS I WAS DRIVING THROUGH THE RAIN, MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP ON ME. IT HAPPENED ONE DAY LAST WEEK WHEN I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN AS WELL. I TYPED IN THESE SAME ISSUES IN A GOOGLE SEARCH BOX TO SEE IF ANY OTHER OWNERS OF A 06 HYUNDAI SONATA WERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. QUITE A FEW NUMBER OF PEOPLE AND NO ONE HAD ANY CLEAR RESOLUTIONS AFTER TAKING THEIR CARS TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. MY DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT (RED TEXT: AIR BAG) WENT ON AS I WAS DRIVING AND HAS NOT SHUT OFF. WHEN I CALLED HYUNDAI CORPORATE THEY SAID THIS WAS DUE TO AIR BAG SENSORS ON PASSENGER SEAT AND WAS PART OF AN ONGOING OCS SETTLEMENT SO THEY MADE AN APPT WITH NORTH COUNTY HYUNDAI. WHEN THE DEALER INSPECTED THE ISSUE, THEY SAID IT WAS NOT PART OF THE OCS SETTLEMENT AND THAT IT IS A SEAT BELT TENSIONER/SEAT BELT BUCKLE ISSUE (DIAGNOSTIC CODE B1706) AND THAT IT IS NOT A SAFETY RECALL ITEM, NOR IS IT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND WOULD COST ME $336.90. FROM WHAT I HAVE LEARNED, THIS ISSUE RENDERS THE AIR BAG SYSTEM INOPERATIVE SO I AM WONDERING WHY HYUNDAI IS NOT FORCED TO COVER THIS SYSTEM DEFECT UNDER WARRANTY OR IF THERE ARE PLANS AT NHTSA TO ISSUE A MANDATORY RECALL. *TR
2006 HYUNDAI SONATA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REPLACEMENT OF DRIVE BELT ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE NO ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE, PRIOR TO THE DRIVE BELTS BEING REPLACED. A FEW WEEKS AFTER THE BELTS WERE REPLACED, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PERFORMING WELL WHEN DRIVEN. THERE WAS HARDNESS ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THERE WAS A SLIGHT, FAINT CHIRPING, FAINT GRINDING SOUND WHEN THE A/C WAS TURNED ON. THE MANAGER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE A/C/PANEL AND MAYBE A LOOSE FLAP. HOWEVER, THE NOISE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE MECHANIC, WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THE BELT THAT WAS INSTALLED WAS NOT THE CORRECT ONE FOR THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, AFTER THE ORIGINAL BELT WAS INSTALLED THE NOISE WAS STILL PRESENT, BUT NOT AS LOUD. ALSO, THE STRUTS WERE REPLACED DUE TO HEARING A NOISE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS.*JB

NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WE WERE UNAWARE THAT THIS RECALL WAS EVEN PERFORMED. I'M SURE IT WAS LISTED ON MY PAPERWORK. THIS WEEK, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND MY ABS LIGHT STAYS ON. I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE. THE CODE WAS P0504. FAULTY STOP LAMP BRAKE SWITCH. I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE, UNAWARE THAT IT WAS ALREADY REPLACED ONCE. CALLED BEL AIR HYUNDAI, MADE MY APPOINTMENT, TOOK THE CAR IN ON AUGUST 29, 2014. I WAS TOLD BY [XXX] THAT MY CAR DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THIS RECALL. NOT THAT IT HAD BEEN REPLACED, BUT THAT MY VIN DID NOT QUALIFY. I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK BECAUSE I COULD NOT AFFORD THE $160 REPAIR ON THE SWITCH THAT I REALLY AND TRULY THOUGHT WOULD BE COVERED BY THIS RECALL. I CALLED HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OPENED CASE# [XXX]. THE GENTLEMEN I SPOKE WITH GAVE ME THE INFORMATION REGARDING THE COMPLETED CAMPAIGN FROM 9/14/2010 AND SUGGESTED THAT I CALL BEL AIR HYUNDAI BACK AGAIN AND THAT THEY SHOULD REPLACE THIS SWITCH FOR FREE. I DID AS HE SUGGESTED AND WAS TOLD BY [XXX] THAT THIS WAS NOT THEIR POLICY TO PERFORM RECALLS TWICE AND THE REPAIR WAS GOING TO COST ME $160. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I'M A LITTLE UNHAPPY ABOUT ALL OF THE WORK THAT I'VE HAD TO PUT INTO THIS AND I'M STILL GOING TO BE OUT MONEY FOR THIS REPAIR. THIS IS A FAULTY SWITCH AS PER THE RECALL.
