I BOUGHT MY CAR AT A DEALERSHIP, IN WEST, TN CALLED BOLIVAR FORD. THEY SOLD ME THE CAR I GOT NOW AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN SHOW ME THE CAR UNTIL IT CAME BACK FROM GETTING AN 'OIL CHANGE'. THEN I REALIZED WHY THEY DIDN'T SHOW ME THE CAR UNTIL A FEW WEEKS LATER UNTIL I SAW THE PAINT CHIPPING AT THE ROOF OF MY CAR WHERE THE WINDSHIELD MEETS TO THE ROOF. SINCE LAST YEAR, THE PAINT HAS CHIPPED PROBABLY 5 INCHES MORE WIDE, AND ABOUT 11 INCHES HIGHER. IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE. LIKE, THE HYUNDAI COMPANY SHOULD BE RECALLING TO GET ALL HYUNDAI'S NEW PAINT. I WAS DRIVING ON HWY 22 N, GOING TOWARDS LEXINGTON, TN, WHEN I NOTICED MY CAR WAS BOUNCING UP AND DOWN A LOT. I WAS GOING 59MPH IN A 55MPH ZONE, I WAS GOING OVER A BRIDGE AND LITERALLY ABOUT HAD A CONCUSSION GOING EVER A 20FT LONG BRIDGE BECAUSE THE CAR WAS BOUNCING SO BAD. I AM JUST NOW REPLACING THE TIRES AND BRAKE PADS/ ROTORS THAT THE SUSPENSION DAMAGED. I'VE NEARLY WRECKED 2-3 DIFFERENT TIMES. NO ONLY THAT I'VE HAD SORENESS IN MY BACK AND NECK FROM IT. NO WRECKS OR NOTHING AND NO MEDICAL ATTENTION ON, SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS OF ME TRAVELING FOR WORK, I WOULD BE ON HWY 128 IN NIXON, TN HEADING TO TURN ON HWY 57 IN COUNCE, TN AND I NOTICED MY STEERING WHEEL WAS REAL LOOSE, TO THE POINT OF WHERE I COULD BASICALLY MOVE THE WHEEL WITH ONE FINGER. NOT ONLY THAT IT WILL DRAG REAL BAD. I CAN'T EVEN STAY IN A STRAIGHT LINE AND DRIVE NORMAL WITHOUT GOING FROM THE YELLOW LINE TO WHITE LINE AND THEN FROM WHITE LINE TO THE YELLOW LINE.
WHEN THE RIGHT INDICATOR WAS TURNED ON, THE LEFT INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON. WHEN THE LEFT INDICATOR WAS TURNED ON, THE RIGHT INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON. WHEN THE INDICATORS ARE TURNED ON THE FIRST BLINK OR TWO IS THE WRONG DIRECTION, THEN IT SWITCHES TO THE CORRECT DIRECTION. FIRST TIME WAS ON AN INTERSTATE, OTHER TIMES AROUND TOWN.
RHE MALFUNCTION ILLUMINATOR LAMP ICON CAME ON AND CAR SHIFTS INTO GEAR RATHER HARD AS IF YOU LET FOOT OFF GAS PEDDLE AND APPLIED THE BRAKES.IT DOES THIS WHEN FIRST STARTING OFF AND CONTINUES EVERY FEW MINUTES
TODAY 1/24/2019 AROUND 12 PM ARIZONA TIME MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR UPON EXITING THE HIGHWAY HE HEARD LOUD POP THAT SCARED HIM THEN HE HEARD GLASS SHATTERING BY THE TIME HE GOT HOME HE NOTICED THAT THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF SHATTERED WITH A BIG HOLE IN THE MIDDLE.
ENGINE HESITATES TO PUT OUT POWER WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STAND STILL. TRANSMISSION UPSHIFTS INSTEAD OF DOWNSHIFTING WHEN PRESSING PEDAL PEDAL 50% OF THE WAY. THESE PROBLEMS OCCUR IN CITY DRIVING.
I HAVE A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA WITH 24K MILES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS FLASHING AS I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT FOR MY DAUGHTER TO PICKUP HER CAR. THE GARAGE OWNER SAID TO PULL IN MY CAR. THE DIAGNOSTIC READ OUT WAS P2600 OBS-LL. UPON RESEARCHING IT THE CODE SAID, COOLANT PUMP "A" CONTROL CIRCUIT?OPEN. THEY PROVIDED ME WITH THE PRINT OUT. THEY SAID TRY TO DRIVE IT. I DID & DROVE MAYBE 300 FEET & IT WOULD NOT ACCELRALTE ABOVE 15 MPH. I TURNED AROUND TOOK IT BACK TO THE GARAGE'S LOT. THE NEXT DAY I CALLED HYUNDAI ROADSIDE ASSIST TO HAVE IT TOWED TO SUPERIOR HYUNDAI SOUTH, WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR.THIS OCCURRED THURSDAY JANUARY 17TH. THE CAR IS STILL AT SUPERIOR HYUNDAI WAITING WORD FROM HYUNDAI MOTORS. DAVE THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID IT EITHER NEEDS A WIRE HARNESS OR AN ENGINE. NOT SURE THE RELATIONSHIP. SEEMS TO ME THEY SHOULD PUT ON THE WIRE HARNESS, IF THAT DOESN'T FIX IT REPLACE THE ENGINE.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the power steering assist would intermittently fail as the reduction in power steering assist would illuminate on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that his vehicle would shut off while driving at various speeds without warning. The contact also stated that the vehicle would independently accelerate as the check engine and oil warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact had to depress the brake pedal to stop the acceleration. The dealer had yet to be notified of the failure. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

FIRST OWNER 2015 WITH 119000 MILEAGE ON HIGHWAY ACCELERATION AFTER 40M/H DRIVER SIDE AND WHOLE CAR VIBRATING I DID WHEEL BALANCING , CHANGE TIRE BUT STILL PERSISTENT
RECEIVED A SONATA'S ENGINE CONTROL UNIT LETTER, STATING A PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN HAS BEEN ISSUED ON MY CAR, ON EXCESSIVE CONNECTING ROD BEARING WEAR IN THE ENGINE. I HAVE A SEVERE KNOCKING IN MY ENGINE, WHEN MOVING, ESPECIALLY WHEN EXCELLING UP A HILL,AND IT STATED THIS CAN CAUSE SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE INCLUDING ENGINE FAILURE. TOLD SERVICE MAN AND HE STATED IF IT IS THIS IT COULD TAKE ONE-THREE WEEKS FOR REPAIR. WHY ISN'T THIS A RECALL. STATES FOR THIS VIN# -8 RECALLS, BUT DOESN'T LIST THEM?? HOW DO I FIND THIS OUT?
MY FUEL FILLER DOOR OPENER IS NOT WORKING. HYUNDAI HAS THIS RECALL FOR OTHER VEHICLES BUT NOT FOR MY MODEL AND YEAR, THIS IS CLEARLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THEIR PRODUCT AND THE WANT ME TO PAY UP TO $500 IN PARTS AND LABOR?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, IT INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING INTO A TWO-CAR GARAGE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING, BUT THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. DURING THE SECOND FAILURE, THE VEHICLE CRASHED THROUGH A DOUBLE GARAGE DOOR AND PARTIALLY INTO A WALL AT THE END OF THE GARAGE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. POLICE REPORT NUMBER: 18-0018173 WAS FILED. THERE NO WERE INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY TO A FACILITY FOR INSPECTION PURPOSES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. IT WAS UNDETERMINED AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN PROBLEM FIRST OCCURED AND WHEN I APPLIED MY FOOT ON THE FOOT EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE THE BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE ON THE DASHBOARD. THE LIGHT FLICKERS OCCASIONALLY OR DOES NOT COME ON AT ALL.
APPLYING THE BRAKES AT A STOP REQUIRES THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BE FIRMLY HELD TO THE FLOOR OTHERWISE THE ENGINE WILL START REVIVING UP AND MOVE OUT FAST IF THE BRAKE IS RELEASED. ALSO APPEARS THAT THE TRANSMISSION WHEN MOVING THE SHIFTER TO PARK DOES NOT MEAN THE CAR IS IN PARK. I DID THIS ONCE IN A STORE PARKING LOT. THE SHIFT HANDLE WAS IN PARK. BUT AS SOON AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND OPENED THE DOOR CAR TOOK OFF. CAUSED $ 6,700 TO FIX ALL THE DAMAGE. ENGINE DOES NOT COME OFF FAST IDLE. WHEN I FIRST GOT THE CAR. IDLE RPM WAS BETWEEN 500 AND 750. NOW THE IDLE NEVER GOES BELOW 1200-1300 RPM. I TRIED VARIOUS BRANDS AND GRADES OF GAS INCLUDING ETHANOL FREE UNLEADED BUT NOTHING HELPED.

IN WHICH AN ANIMAL WAS IN THE ROAD I SWEARED AND HIT THE CURB THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN THE ACCIDENT THE AUTO FLIP OVER AND THE CAR A MODEL LIMITED W/ALL GLASS SUNROOF SHATTERED CAUSING A CONCUSSION THE DESIGN OF THE CAR CAUSED THE PILLARS TO CRUSH ALONG WITH FRONT AIR BAGS THAT DID NOT DEPLOY THE DESIGN OF THE ROOF LINE FAILEDTO PROTECT THE PASSAGERS FROM ITS ALL GLASS SUNROOF DESIGN CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY NOTE RIGHT AFTER THIS ACCIDENT HYUNDIA ISSUED MULTI YEARS THIS MODEL HAD ISSUES WITH ITS AIR BAG AND SUNROOF SHATTERING WITH A ROLL OVER THE CAR ROLLED FROM IMPACT. ALL GLASS SUNROOF NO AIR BAGS SAFETY AROUND THE ALL GLASS SUNROOF.
JUST PURCHASE. 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA SPORT MOTOR IS TAPPING HAS ONLY 20,000 MILES ON IT MOTOR. ON11/09/2018
ON HIGHWAY 70MP SONATA LOSES ALL POWER TOWED TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP.3 DAYS LETTER KNOCK WAS TO BLAME AN WIRING REPLACED.15 MINUTES AFTER PICKING UP SONATA AN REACHING SPEEDS OF 70 AGAIN ON HIGHWAY SONATA LOSES ALL POWER AGAIN ALMOST CAUSING PILEUP IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC GAIN SONATA IS TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP CONFIRMS ONLY PARKING LOT TEST WAS DONE NOT HIGHWAY AFTER REPLACEMENT EVEN KNOWING THE WIDE SPREAD ENGINE FAILURES / ISSUES SONATA IS HAVING AN CATCHING FIRE. THIS IS SERIOUS AN LIFE THREATING YOU LOSE ALL CONTROL NO POWER NO WARNING !!!! AT HIGH SPEEDS.1/8 SONATA CURRENTLY AT DEALERSHIP
VEHICLE SHUDDERS AND SHAKES AND LOSES POWER (WITHOUT COMPLETELY STALLING) WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP SUCH AS PULLING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY OR AT AN INTERSECTION. DEALER RESET THE COMPUTER AND IT HELPED FOR A FEW HOURS, THEN STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN.
YESTERDAY I TOOK MY CAR WHICH HAD 30,852 MILES ON IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE 30,000 MILE MAINTENANCE. I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR AN ECM & CLUSTER SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT HAD TO BE PERFORMED. I WAS TOLD NOTHING ABOUT THE PURPOSE OF THE UPDATE. THE CAR WAS SERVICED, I LEFT THE DEALER AND DROVE APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES TO THE GROCERY STORE. WHEN LEAVING THE GROCERY STORE I HAD TO TURN LEFT ACROSS A LANE OF FAST MOVING TRAFFIC APPROXIMATELY 200 YARDS AWAY FROM A MAJOR INTERSECTION. AS I PROCEEDED MY CAR STALLED AND I WAS ALMOST HIT. THE ENGINE DID NOT DIE COMPLETELY AND I WAS ABLE TO LIMP BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY GAVE ME A LOANER AND SAID THEY WOULD WORK ON THE PROBLEM. WHEN I WENT HOME I DID A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF INTERNET RESEARCH AND DETERMINED THAT HYUNDAI KNOWS THESE ENGINES ARE DEFECTIVE AND THERE IS ANOTHER CLASS ACTION SUIT PENDING ON THE 2015 AND 2016 MODELS AFTER THEY HAD ALREADY SETTLED A SUIT ON THE 2011-2014 MODELS. THIS MORNING THE DEALER STATED THEY HAVE TO REPLACE MY KNOCK SENSOR BECAUSE ITS BAD. WHEN I STATED I KNEW ABOUT THE ENGINE PROBLEMS THE SERVICE TECH ADMITTED MY KNOWLEDGE TO BE CORRECT BUT SAID HE HAS TO GO THROUGH THE PROCESS WHICH FOR NOW IS TO REPLACE THE SENSOR AND HARNESS WHICH WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF A DEFECTIVE ENGINE THAT CAN STALL IN TRAFFIC FROM PREVIOUSLY KNOWN PROBLEMS. THE SOFTWARE UPDATE IS WHAT CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO GO INTO "LIMP HOME" MODE. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT TO WHICH I WAS NOT INFORMED AND I WAS ALMOST KILLED YESTERDAY. HYUNDAI KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM ON THE 2015-2016 AND IS FURTHER EXACERBATING THE ISSUE BY INSTALLING SOFTWARE ON A SERVICE RECALL THAT IS DESIGNED TO ASCERTAIN THEIR EXPOSURE TO DEFECTIVE VEHICLES. I WAS LUCKY I WASN'T KILLED YESTERDAY AND NOW I HAVE TO GO THROUGH A PROCESS THAT FURTHER RISKS MY LIFE AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES OUT THERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS.
My cars' dashboard started cracking after about 3 years of ownership (purchased new), which we though was weird. It is almost 10 years old now and the dashboard has cracked all over. I have taken it to the dealership for recalls and repairs and was told that it was a common problem for these cars, which I'm surprised that it has not been recalled. They said that they would report it but I'm not sure. We have owned more than a dozen cars and we have never seen that happen to a car so early on. I'm not sure if it poses any dangers with air bags or other functions, other than visual defect. I'm just trying to get it reported. I also emailed Hyundai.
I TOOK MY CAR TO PRIORTY HYUNDAI BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T START. THEY SAID IT WAS A ISSUE AND THEN PRIORTY HYUNDAI FIXED IT AND LET ME DRIVE IT. 3 WEEKS LATER IT DID NOT START. THEY SAY THEY FIXED IT BUT NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME TO TOW IT TO THEM SO THEY CAN CHECK IT. THEY SAY A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. AND I HAVE TO WAIT 5 DAYS UNTIL THE CHECK IT. I AM MISSING WORK. THEY SAID IT WAS ALREADY FIXED. BEFORE IT STOP WORKING I TOOK A 5 HE TRIP. THE CAR WAS DEFECTED AND THEY LET ME DRIVE IT. IT STOPPED ONCE WHEN I WAS IN THE HIGHWAY COMING BACK LUCKILY TRAFFIC WENT AROUND ME UNTIL IT STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. NOW IT DOESN'T START.
CAR HAS 40,000 MILES . ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING. ENGINE LOOSING POWER. DEALERSHIP KEPT THE CAR AND SAYS KNOCKING ISSUE . DEALER IS WAITING FEEDBACK FROM HYUNDAI.
ON FRIDAY OCTOBER 12. 2018, I WAS DRIVING ON THE 78 HIGH EAST BOUND AND WAS ABOUT TO PASS ANOTHER CAR. AS MY CAR WAS ACCELERATED, THE CAR ENGINE LOST POWER. THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. MY CAR WAS DECELERATED. I WAS LUCKY BECAUSE THE TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY WAS LIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR SLOWLY TO THE EMERGENCY PARKING AREA AND STOP THE CAR. I HAVE A CAR COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE AND HOOKED IT TO THE CAR COMPUTER. THE DEVICE READ AN ERROR CODE P1326_ GLOW RELAY STUCK ON THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST HYUNDAI DEALER. SO FAR THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS NOT TOLD ME WHAT WRONG WITH MY CAR AND HOW THEY FIX MY CAR..
MY VEHICLE MAKES A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN I MAKE A TURN AND ACCELERATE SIMULTANEOUSLY, NAPELTON HYUNDAI TOLD ME IT WAS MY AXEL AND MY FRONT BRAKES GRIND WHEN MY CAR SETTLES AFTER I BRAKE OR WHEN I EASE OFF THE BRAKE

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
AFFECTED VEHICLES MAY DISPLAY A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, SLIGHT HESITATION OR REDUCED POWER DURING ACCELERATION, ERRATIC SHIFTING FROM THE TRANSMISSION DURING ACCELERATION OR A CLICKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE WHEN ENGINE SPEED IS INCREASED. ON 2015 SONATAS ONLY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT MAY ILLUMINATE, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL WARNING LIGHT MAY ILLUMINATE OR THE CAR MAY EXHIBIT LIMITED ENGINE POWER. VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS SERVICE BULLETIN: 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA 2016 HYUNDAI SONATA EQUIPPED WITH THE 2.4-LITER GDI ENGINE. THE CAR WAS SERVICED AND WHEN I PICKED IT UP GOT ABOUT 10 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND THE ABOVE HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY. RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE NOT HAD IT REAL CLOSE TO 4 WEEKS. THE DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS
THIS CAR HAS RECEIVED REGULAR OIL CHANGE INCLUDING FILTER CHANGES AND THE ENGINE HAS BEEN FLUSHED TWICE BECAUSE EACH TIME THE OIL CHANGE MILES HAVE OCCURRED THE OIL IN THE ENGINE APPEARS TO BE MUDDY. THIS CAR IS ONLY BEING DRIVEN TO AND FROM LOCAL CITY LIMITS AND ONLY HAS 65,000. THE CAR STARTED BRAKING DOWN SLOWLY WITH NO EXPLANATION. 1ST BATTERY DIED CONSTANTLY WE PUT IN A NEW BATTERY, THEN THE STARTER FAILED WE REPLACED WITH BRAND NEW STARTER NOW THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY GONE. ALL IN A MATTER OF ONE MONTH. BASED ON ALL THE 1,000 COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ ON THIS PARTICULAR CAR, ALL HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING. PLEASE THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GETTEL HYUNDAI OF CHARLOTTE COUNTY (1950 TAMIAMI TRAIL, PUNTA GORDA, FL 33950, (941) 347-6626) WHERE THE DOWN STREAM SENSOR, PCM, VCM, FUEL PUMP MODULE, AND KNOCK SENSOR WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE THROTTLE WAS UNCLOGGED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO WAIT UNTIL IT RECURRED. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 67,308. *PM CONSUMER STATED VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED 12 TIMES.*JB
ENGINE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHILE IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY. VEHICLE AT HYUNDAI DEALER. SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED THE PROBLEM AFFECTS HUNDREDS OF HYUNDAI VEHICLES AND THE CAUSE AND REPAIR IS UNKNOWN. TO NOTE VEHICLE HAD A COMPLETE EVALUATION 1 WEEK PRIOR WITH NO CURRENT OR UPCOMING ISSUES. UPON STARTING CAR "ABS LIGHT, TRACTION LIGHT, BSD (BLIND SIDE DETECTION) LIGHT" CAME ON. UPON DRIVING, MY BSD SENSORS DID NOT OPERATE, AND ENGINE MADE WHISTLING SOUND UPON ACCELERATION AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 40MPH WITHOUT THE POWER BEING PULLED FROM THE ENGINE. ALSO TO NOTE MY CAR WAS APPARENTLY TRYING TO BE IN A HIGHER GEAR AT 30MPH (5TH GEAR). ALL OF THIS IS VERY SUSPICIOUS AS THE CAR HAS ONLY BEEN SERVICED AT DEALERSHIPS WITH MOST RECENT BEING 1 WEEK PRIOR. SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEEMED VERY POOR AT EXPLAINING THE CAUSE FOR THE SIMULTANEOUS MALFUNCTIONS OF ALL THESE SYSTEMS. I DO NOT CURRENTLY FEEL AS SAFE WITH THIS VEHICLE AS I HAVE BEFORE.

ON 08/12/2018, I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE ELECTRONIC DISPLAY INDICATED THAT I WAS TRAVELING AT 65 MPH WHEN I WAS HAD SLOWED FOR TRAFFIC. WHEN I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AT AN EXIT THE DISPLAY INDICATED THAT I WAS TRAVELING AT 65 MPH WHEN I WAS AT A FULL STOP. I THEN NOTICED THAT WHEN DRIVING THE CAR THE MANUAL TACHOMETER WAS WORKING AND SPEEDOMETER SHOWED THE ACTUAL SPEED OF CAR OF 40 MPH WHILE THE ELECTRONIC DISPLAY SHOWED THE SPEED OF 65 MPH. WHILE DRIVING I NOTICED I COULD NOT SCROLL THROUGH THE MENUS ON THE ELECTRONIC DISPLAY AND THE ONLY THING SHOWING WAS 65 MPH. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THE DISPLAY STILL SHOWED 65 MPH EVEN THOUGH CAR WAS OFF AND DOORS WERE OPEN. AFTER STARTING THE CAR AGAIN TO DETERMINE IF WORKING, ALL FUNCTIONS STOPPED WORKING. THE CAR SHOWED TRAVELING AT 65 MPH, EVEN THOUGH DRIVING TO PARKING SPOT, AND THE TACHOMETER, SPEEDOMETER, GAS LEFT INDICATOR, CAR MILEAGE, TEMPERATURE DISPLAY ALL STOPPED WORKING. THE RADIO AND NAVIGATION CONTINUED TO WORK AS DID SIGNALS. I HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALER AS IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE. AFTER CAR CAME OFF TOW TRUCK, ALL FUNCTIONS RETURNED. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS AN ACTIVE RECALL ON THE CAR, BUT IT WAS SOMETHING ONLY THE SERVICE AREA COULD SEE AND THE CUSTOMERS WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF ISSUE FOR A RECALL. ON THE PAPERWORK THEY INDICATE IT IS 'CAMPAIGN HE1000 ' REFER TO LINE B.' A RECALL CAMPAIGN MUST BE SENT TO CUSTOMERS AS THIS STARTED TO HAPPEN WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND COULD POTENTIALLY BE DANGEROUS TO OWNERS. I WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY, BUT THAT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THE CASE LATER IN THE WEEK. POTENTIAL LIVES ARE BEING PUT AT RISK.

HYUNDAI HAS STATED THAT THE ENGINE IS ON BACK ORDER AND COULD BE THE 1ST WEEK OF JANUARY 2019 AND POSSIBLY LATER BEFORE THE ENGINE IS AVAILABLE. I HAVE HEARD FROM THE DEALER THAT THERE ARE CLOSE TO 10,000 HYUNDAI 2.0T ENGINES THAT ARE NEEDING REPLACED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. SO FAR 4 MONTHS OF CAR PAYMENTS AND CAR INSURANCE BEING PAID ON A VEHICLE THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN.

AT AROUND 80,000 MILES CAR STARTED GOING DOWN HILL. IT HESITATES TO TAKE OFF FROM A STOPPING POINT. IT SHAKES SOMETIMES WHEN ABOUT TO ACCELERATE AND IT DOESN'T ACCELERATE VERY FAST ANYMORE GETS UP TO ABOUT 1800-2000 RPM BEFORE IT ACTUALLY PICKS UP SPEED.

ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA HOW BUT PARKED CAR EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL, STARTED CAR NEXT DAY AND RPMS SHOT HIGH AND LIGHT CAME ON. THEY RESET LIGHT AND SAY NOTHING WRONG BUT THIS KEEPS OCCURING. THE ENGINE WOULD THEN RATTLE DURING ACCELERATION AND APPLYING MORE RPMS. THE RATTLE WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO APPLYING MORE PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL. THIS CAR HAS 12322 MILES AND THE RATTLE STARTED TO OCCUR AT 12000 MILES TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE. VEHICLE WAS STARTED IN DRIVEWAY AND RATTLE WAS HEARD AT INTERSECTION AND THEN LATER ON HIGHWAY. I'M CONCERNED THIS RATTLE WILL DAMAGE THE ENGINE BUT SPECIFIC COMPONENTS ARE UNKNOWN.

THE NEXT MORNING, 30 MILES LATER ON I 25 WE WERE TRAVELING THE SPEED LIMIT, AND A CLANKING NOISE STARTED AND SMOKE POURED OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD...WE PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY. BILLOWS OF SMOKE. WE CALLED 911 AND ROAD ASSISTANCE. SANTA FE FIRE DEPT FORCED HOOD OPEN AND FLOODED THE ENGINE. CAR WAS TOWED TO SANTE FE HYUNDAI FIESTA. OUR INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECTED AND SAID THE CAR WAS TOTALED. HYUNDAI CORPORATE WILL BE INSPECTING THE CAR TO TRY AND DETERMINE CAUSE. ACCORDING TO GEICO ADJUSTER, THAT MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE. EVERYTHING MELTED.
