2015 Hyundai Sonata Complaint Log

THIS IS A NEW HYUNDAI SONATA 2015. THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ERRATICALLY. THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS CAN BE A SAFETY CONCERNS: 1. SOMETIMES WHEN IDLING AT INTERSECTION THE ENGINE RPM GOES UP ALL OF A SUDDEN AND THE CAR STARTS MOVING FORWARD AND ONLY A STRONGER PUSH ON THE BRAKES STOPS THE CAR FROM CRASHING INTO THE VEHICLE AHEAD OR RUNNING A RED LIGHT. 2. WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE CAR LACKS POWER EVEN IF THE GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY INTO THE FLOOR. THIS PREVENTS THE CAR FROM PROPERLY ACCELERATING WHEN MERGING INTO INCOMING TRAFFIC. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY IDENTIFIED THE ISSUE IS "CAM COVER LEAKING" AND "OIL COMING THROUGH THE OIL SEAL MAKING THE MOTOR DO WEIRD THINGS". THESE ARE THE QUOTES FROM THE PAPER I GOT FROM THE DEALER. THE CAR SPENT 2 WEEKS WITH THE DEALER. THEY REPLACED THE CAM COVER. BUT 2 DAYS LATER THE PROBLEM APPEARED AGAIN. I'M AFRAID OF DRIVING THIS CAR NOW, BECAUSE ENGINE BEHAVES ERRATICALLY. AND THIS CAR ONLY HAS 3500 MILES ON IT. *TR

I WAS PARKING THE CAR AT AN ANGLE AND HIT THE OUTSIDE WALL OF A STORE AT 2:30 IN THE AFTERNOON. BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. INITIALLY, I THOUGHT I HAD DONE SOMETHING WRONG, AND MAYBE I DID BUT I CAME TO FIND OUT MUCH LATER THAT THIS CAR HAS A FLOOR MOUNTED GAS PEDAL. I HAD OWNED THE CAR ABOUT FIVE WEEKS BY THAT TIME AND HAD BEEN OUT OF TOWN ONE OF THOSE WEEKS WHEN I DIDN'T EVEN USE IT. I HAD PUT PLASTIC MATS IN THE CAR TO PROTECT THE MATS AND CARPETING IN THERE. THAT MORNING I SAW THAT THE MAT HAD GONE UP AGAINST THE GAS PEDAL. AGAIN, AT THAT POINT, I DID NOT REALIZE THAT THE PEDAL WAS FLOOR MOUNTED. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THAT HYUNDAI SHOULD TELL PEOPLE THIS AND TELL THEM NOT TO PUT EXTRA MATS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE UNLESS THEY ARE CUSTOM MADE. I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF THE ACCIDENT WAS BECAUSE I DID SOMETHING WRONG OR BECAUSE THE MAT WAS PRESSING AGAINST THE GAS PEDAL AND PROPELLED THE CAR FORWARD WHILE I THOUGHT I WAS PUSHING ON THE BRAKE. THE FRONT CORNER OF THE CAR WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED AS WAS THE WALL I HIT. *TR

In 8-2021 the original engine locked up due to a crankshaft bearing lock up. The dealer replaced the entire engine with a rebuilt. It locked up within 10 seconds after I drove from the dealer due to a massive external oil leak from the engine front area. The dealer could not determine where the leak was coming from and prepared a report to reflect this. The dealer then replaced this first replaced engine with another rebuilt engine. I drove it and within 5 minutes of driving the radiator plastic side tank exploded open and lost coolant. The engine then misfired and began to smoke out the tailpipe. and engine areas. The dealer demanded I pay $1,100 for a replacement radiator and then they would confirm that the head gasket was leaking from the combustion chamber into the cooling system that exploded the radiator side tank due to overpressurization from exhaust gas. Another dealer saw that the combustion gas had a large leak that was coming out of the broken radiator plastic side tank and advised repalcing the engine with another engine and radiator. The engine locked up while driving it as a result of overheating and/or coolant inside the cylinder that has the head gasket leak. The dealer and factory refuses to repair the engine that is still under two different kinds of warranties. The warranties expire on 10-12-2025

My passenger occupancy mat señor is not working. It has been replaced by Hyundai several times and was a part of a recall. It was replaced in 2006 and 2007. They installed a new version of the senor mat, and the mat senor is defective again. I called Hynindia of America, and they said even though it was a recall and they fixed it as a recall fix, they said that they are no longer responsible. Is that the case?

The oil in the car burns quickly. After driving 2000 miles, there is no oil left. I do not have any oil leaks anywhere. It’s just burning oil. This has been consistent since I’ve gotten the vehicle.
