2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ TOTAL VEHICLE FAILURE. VEHICLE STALLED OUT WHILE PULLING INTO INTERSECTION ON WAY TO CHURCH. THANK GOD WE STALLED BEFORE GETTING ALL THE WAY INTO THE INTERSECTION BECAUSE CARS WERE COMING FROM BOTH WAYS. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN N AND WE LUCKILY ROLLED BACK OUT OF THE WAY. PROBLEM WAS DUE TO LEAKY VALVE COVER DRIPPING ON ALTERNATOR. I HAVE SEEN MANY FORUMS AND READ OF MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS HAPPENING. WHY HASN'T ANYTHING BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS? DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO GET IN A WRECK AND DIE BEFORE THERE WILL BE A RECALL. NOW I HAVE TO BUY THE PARTS AND CHANGE IT MYSELF AND I CAN'T FIND ANY GOOD FORUMS ON HOW TO ACCESS THIS THING. THE VALVE COVER GASKET WAS LEAKING IN TO THE ALTERNATOR CAUSING AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION THAT ALMOST CAUSED A THREE CAR ACCIDENT. THOSE PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED FOUR TIMES. TWICE BY FIRESTONE BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT SINCE THERE THE ONES THAT REPAIRED IT THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO GO BACK TO THEM THE SECOND TIME. AND THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED IT TWICE SINCE THE RECALL HAS BEEN REPORTED. THIS VEHICLE IS UN SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE MY CHILDREN IN AND APPARENTLY HYUNDAI HAS NOT FOUND A SUCCESSFUL WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT YET IM BEING INCONVENIENCED AT MY EXPENSE DUE TO PAYING TOW FEES,RENTAL FEES, AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING.
AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHTS ON! THE AIRBAG SPRING HAS BEEN REPLACED PER RECALL. AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON 2 MONTHS AFTER REPLACEMENT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY REPORTED A SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR MALFUNCTION (IT DESCRIBES AS 43164 B1371 SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR DRIVER INSTABILITY. SHORT INSIDE STPS CAUSING LIGHT TO APPEAR). PARTS NEED TO BE ORDERED AND IT WILL UNDER WARRANTY OF MY CAR ORIGINALLY TOLD. HOWEVER, THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED BACK AND SAID IT WILL COST ME $300 FOR REPLACEMENT 2 WEEKS LATER. I BELIEVE THE REPAIR/ SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY OF THE CAR AND THE PART SHOULD BE ON RECALL. IN ADDITION, AFTER REVIEWING SOME OF YOUR AIRBAG COMPLAINTS, THE SEAT TRACK SENSOR MAYBE TO BLAMED FOR THE AIRBAG MALFUNCTIONS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ . THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AS IT RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,100.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WITHOUT WARNING. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OVER 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE CLOCK SPRINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V472000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHEEL BEARINGS FAILING EVERY 30,000 OR SO MILES. HAVE HAD THE CAR IN 3 TIMES FOR NEW HUBS IN 4 YEARS. I BELIEVE THERE IS A MANUFACTURING DESIGN DEFECT IN THE HUBS CAUSING THESE FREQUENT FAILURES. CONTACTED HYUNDAI REGARDING TRADE IN ASSISTANCE TO GET ME OUT OF THIS CAR BELIEVING IT MIGHT BE THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE OR THE MODEL BUT THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN PROVIDING ASSISTANCE. BEARING SHOULD LAST 100,000 MILES, MINIMUM. *KB
FIRST INCIDENT: 7/18/2011 & 70546 MILEAGE : ALTERNATOR SHORTED OUT AT 65 MPH ON INTERSTATE 287 RESULTING IN EXTREME POWER LOSS, VERY HARD STEERING AND DIFFICULT, UNSAFE VEHICLE CONTROL WHICH FINALLY ENDED IN COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. CAR TOWED TO DEALER WHICH DIAGNOSED AN UNDETECTED OIL LEAK FROM THE VALVE COVER DRIPPED INTO ALTERNATOR CAUSING IT TO SHORT OUT. VALVE GASKET WAS CHANGED AND ALTERNATOR REPLACED. SECOND INCIDENT 6/26/2014 & 110,846 MILEAGE: SAME SCENARIO, ALTERNATOR SHORTED OUT RESULTING IN EXTREME POWER LOSS, VERY HARD STEERING AND DIFFICULT, UNSAFE VEHICLE CONTROL WHICH DIAGNOSED AN UNDETECTED OIL LEAK FROM THE VALVE COVER DRIPPED INTO THE ALTERNATOR CAUSING IT TO SHORT OUT. VALVE GASKET WAS CHANGED AND ALTERNATOR REPLACED A SECOND TIME. THE DEALER MAHWAH HYUNDAI SAYS I SHOULD HAVE NOTICED THE LEAK. (MY FAULT $880.00). ALTERNATOR BELOW THE VALUE COVER, WHO DESIGNED THIS. ANOTHER GM COVERUP GOING ON HERE. I CAN NOT BELIEVE ALL THE OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE.THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS OTHER THAN REPLACING VALVE COVER GASKET AND ALTERNATOR WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS CANNOT BE DETECTED BY DEALER VISUAL INSPECTION PRIOR TO FAILURE. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. I HAVE ALL MAINTENANCE DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE CAR AT ACCORDING TO THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE AND THE DEALER RECOMMENDATIONS. FIRST INCIDENT: 3/18/2011 & 16638 MILEAGE : ALTERNATOR SHORTED OUT AT 65 MPH ON INTERSTATE 95 RESULTING IN EXTREME POWER LOSS, VERY HARD STEERING AND DIFFICULT, UNSAFE VEHICLE CONTROL WHICH FINALLY ENDED IN COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. CAR TOWED TO DEALER WHICH DIAGNOSED AN UNDETECTED OIL LEAK FROM THE VALVE COVER DRIPPED INTO ALTERNATOR CAUSING IT TO SHORT OUT. VALVE GASKET WAS CHANGED AND ALTERNATOR REPLACED. SECOND INCIDENT 1/23/2012 & 26000 MILEAGE: SAME SCENARIO, ALTERNATOR SHORTED OUT UPON ACCELERATING ON TO FL STATE ROAD IN HEAVY TRAFFIC RESULTING IN EXTREME POWER LOSS, VERY HARD STEERING AND DIFFICULT, UNSAFE VEHICLE CONTROL WHICH FINALLY ENDED IN COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. CAR TOWED TO DEALER WHICH DIAGNOSED AN UNDETECTED OIL LEAK FROM THE VALVE COVER DRIPPED INTO THE ALTERNATOR CAUSING IT TO SHORT OUT. VALVE GASKET WAS CHANGED AND ALTERNATOR REPLACED A SECOND TIME. NOTE THERE WAS ONLY 9362 MILEAGE BETWEEN INCIDENTS.THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS OTHER THAN REPLACING VALVE COVER GASKET AND ALTERNATOR WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN.THIS CANNOT BE DETECTED BY DEALER VISUAL INSPECTION PRIOR TO FAILURE. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. I HAVE ALL MAINTENANCE DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE CAR AT ACCORDING TO THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE AND THE DEALER RECOMMENDATIONS. ALSO NOTE THAT VEHICLE AT DEALER 3 MONTHS BEFORE THE SECOND INCIDENT. THIS REQUIRES A RECALL BEFORE SOME DIES IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
HARD AIR BAG FAULT LIGHT ON. NO IMPACT. *TR
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS I HAVE HAD DIFFICULTIES WITH THE ESC IN MY CAR. THE FIRST TIME THE ESC LIGHT CAME ON AND CAUSED THE CAR TO NOT SHIFT OUT OF REVERSE. AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS, IT FINALLY WORKED BUT THE ESC HAD TO BE FIXED. IN SUMMER 2010 I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE ESC LIGHT CAME ON, THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, STEERING LOCKED UP, AND NO POWER TO ACCELERATE THE CAR. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF (WHILE STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD) AND TURN THE CAR BACK ON. I TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY AGAIN REPLACED THE ESC STATING THE BUTTON NEEDED REPLACED. AFTER ALMOST A YEAR, LAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AGAIN AND THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE CAR. THIS TIME, THE DEALER STATES ITS THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL ISSUE AND BOTH ARE GOING TO BE REPLACED. I REVIEWED INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET FOR THE SAME ISSUES I WAS HAVING AND FOUND THAT THE HYUNDAI SONATA 2007 MODEL HAS SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME REASON AND THE CAR STOPPING, LOCKING UP WITH NO STEERING, AND HAVING TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON TO GET IT WORKING. AT THIS POINT, WHILE THEY ARE TELLING ME THE CAR IS FIXED AND SAFE, I DO NOT TRUST OR FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING. THE SAFETY FEATURE OF THE ESC HAS NOW BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD AND I CANNOT TRUST IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY LEAKING THE POWER STEERING FLUID FROM BOTH SIDE BOOTS. THE FLUID IS SPRAYING UNDER AND ON THE TIRES. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO A POSSIBLE LOSS OF TRACTION. THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS COMPLETELY COVERED WITH OVER-SPRAY. FRONT VALVE COVER GASKET LEAKING ENGINE OIL. THE DEALER PROMISED TO REPAIR BOTH PROBLEMS. *TR
VEHICLE HAS HAD TWO THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLIES CHANGED BY THE DEALER. IN ADDITION, THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE (IN EXCESS OF 8 DEALER VISITS) OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES--THEN THERE IS AN UNRESPONSIVE THROTTLE--SOMETIMES INCAPACITATING THE VEHICLE. OTHER TIMES DURING NORMAL DRIVING--THE THROTTLE BECOMES UNRELIABLE. INTERMITTENTLY THE THROTTLE IS UNRESPONSIVE WHEN DEPRESSED NORMALLY THEN THE VEHICLE SURGES FORWARD. THIS MAKES THROTTLE MODULATION ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE AT TIMES. SOMETIMES FROM A COMPLETE STOP--THE THROTTLE HESITATES THEN SURGES--ALMOST RESULTING IN HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. THE VEHICLE MAKES MERGING IN NORMAL TRAFFIC OR LANE CHANGES UNPREDICTABLE. DEALER HAS MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT. TOLD BY DEALERSHIP AFTER A COMPLETE SOFTWARE REVISION INSTALLED IN 11-09 THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ONE OF ONLY THREE IN THE NATION HAVING THIS PROBLEM. WITH THE THROTTLE RESPONSE BEING FREQUENTLY UNRESPONSIVE AND UNPREDICTABLE THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE. *TR
INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). THE FUEL PUMP ON 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ FUEL PUMP IS NOT PROPERLY FUNCTIONING TO SUV POTENTIAL. AVG 12.6. AFTER SEVERAL INVESTIGATION FROM PEOPLE THAT HAVE CHANGE THE FUEL PUMP HAS INCREASE THEIR PERFORMANCE SIZEABLE FUEL SAVINGS. IF YOU READ IN SEVERAL OF REPORTS FROM CUSTOMER THAT OWN VERACRUZ THEY HAVE REPORTED CONSISTENTLY THE SAME PROBLEM. MY QUESTION IS WHY ARE THEY SO RELUCTANT TO DO ANYTHING WITH THE FUEL PROBLEM. SINCE I PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE I HAD THREE ALTERNATORS INSTALLED AND SEVERAL BATTERIES, I BELIEVE THERE IS A SHORT IN THE WIRES, BUT THE COMPANY ONLY WANTS TO REPLACE THE PARTS. THE PROBLEM IS AS YOU ARE DRIVING WITH OUT WARNING THE VEHICLE JUST SHUTS DOWN ON YOU. THANK GOD I WAS ON LOCALS STREETS BOTH TIMES AND NOT A HIGHWAY THIS HAPPEN 1ST TIME 1/2010 THEN 9/7/2010 ON THIS DATE GOT CHECK ENGINE TURN OUT TO BE SOFTWARE ERROR PO300 RANDOM MISFIRE BUT STALL ENGINE TWICE AND NOW 8/10/2011 AGAIN ALTERNATOR.
MY HYUNDAI VERACRUZ SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS MAKING A TURN. I LOST POWER STEERING AND JUST AVERTED HITTING A CONCRETE BLOCK HOLDING A SIGN. PRIOR TO THE SHUT DOWN, I STARTED LOSING ACCELERATION EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY FOOT ON THE GAS. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, BALTIMORE PIKE, SPRINGFIELD, PA. I COULDN'T EVEN GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. IT WAS HORRIBLE AND SCARY. A FEW MONTHS AGO I LOST ACCELERATION AND THE CAR STARTED RUNNING ROUGH - ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO SAME DEALERSHIP ABOVE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS AN OXYGEN SENSOR. I TOLD THEM I THOUGHT IT WAS THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR BECAUSE I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHER VERACRUZ OWNERS WHO HAD EXPERIENCED WHAT I HAD EXPERIENCED WITH THEIR VERA CRUZ. TOWING AND ACCIDENTS WERE INVOLVED. THEY SAID THEY COULD ONLY REPLACE WHAT THE COMPUTER TOLD THEM TO. WHY DIDN'T HYUNDAI RECALL THE VERACRUZ AND REPLACE THE THROTTLE SENSOR TO ELIMINATE SOMEONE GETTING KILLED. MAYBE SOMEONE HAS BEEN -I'LL CONTINUE TO DO RESEARCH. I SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ALLOWED TO BE IN SUCH A SERIOUS SITUATION - HYUNDAI KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM - I FEEL NOT REPLACING THE THROTTLE SENSOR IS NEGLIGENT. I JUST HOPE THAT BY REPLACING THE THROTTLE SENSOR, THE PROBLEM WILL BE COMPLETELY FIXED. RIGHT NOW MY VERACRUZ IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP - THEY ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY AS A RESULT OF WHAT HAPPENED. HOWEVER, THEY ARE CHARGING ME FOR THE BATTERY - SHOULD NOT BE BUT THE WARRANTY ON THE BATTERY IS UP. I WANT THIS DOCUMENTED BECAUSE OF THE DANGER INVOLVED. THE 2007 VERACRUZ IS A TIMEBOMB WAITING TO GO OFF AND IT SCARES ME TO THINK OF WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED OR WHAT STILL COULD HAPPEN. *TR THANK YOU, SUSAN COLLINS
CAR LOST ALL POWER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. SECOND FAILURE OF ALTERNATOR HAPPENED AT ABOUT 58,000 MILES APPROXIMATELY THIRD HAPPENED AT 82,600 MILES APPROXIMATELY SIMILAR SITUATION ON ALL THREE INCIDENTS WE FELT THREATEN AT EVERY INCIDENT. *TR
PREVIOUSLY, MY 2007 VERACRUZ LIMITED HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATE ON 8/20/08 WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH OUR YOUNG DAUGHTER CAR. THE CAR JOLTED AND VIBRATED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS ADVISED BY THE LOCAL DEALER THE CAR HAD A THROTTLE WARNING CODE 2106, BUT THAT IT CYCLED THROUGH AND WAS FINE WITHOUT REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THEY TEST DROVE IT FOR 30 MILES TO ENSURE THERE WERE NO ISSUES, AND THEN RETURNED THE CAR TO US. FOLLOWING THAT THE CAR WAS DRIVEN WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL IT OCCURRED AGAIN ON 9/17/08, WITH MY WIFE DRIVING OUR YOUNG DAUGHTER AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THE FOLLOWING ERRORS APPEARED: 2135 - THROTTLE BODY 2106 - ? 1295 - ? I WAS ADVISED A SERVICE BULLETIN HAD BEEN ISSUED TO DEALERS IN FEBRUARY FOR THIS, AND THEY WERE AUTHORIZED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY UNIT, WHICH WOULD TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING. THE DEALER STATED THEY HAD REPLACED THE UNIT ON 3-4 CARS TO DATE AND THAT IT TOOK CARE OF THE ISSUE I WAS HAVING. FOLLOWING THE THROTTLE BODY UNIT REPLACEMENT, WE HAD NO FURTHER ISSUES UNTIL LAST NIGHT. ON THE WAY HOME FROM DINNER, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR DAUGHTER AGAIN, THE SAME INCIDENT OCCURRED, 6/26/09. THIS MAKES THREE TIMES IN LESS THAN A YEAR. I HAVE NOTICED THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE BASED ON SIMILAR REPORTS OF OTHER OWNERS IN ONLINE FORUMS. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NOT ANY INJURIES OR DAMAGE. MY PRIMARY CONCERN IS THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER. IF SHE HAD BEEN PASSING ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. I NOTE THAT FROM POSTINGS ON ONLINE FORUMS THERE HAVE BEEN ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. *TR
ESC OFF LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED AND SHIFTER WILL NOT MOVE OUT OF REVERSE GEAR. *TR
I GAVE MY SON A RIDE TO THE AIRPORT, HE PUT HIS CHILD CAR SEAT IN THE REAR BACK SEAT. WHEN WE GOT TO THE AIRPORT AND WENT TO TAKE THE CARSEAT OUT TO TAKE IT ON THE AIRPLANE. THE RELEASE WOULD NOT WORK. AFTER 15 MINUTES OR TRYING TO GET THE SEATBELT OFF AND THE POLICE TELLING ME I CANNOT STAY THERE ANY LONGER WE CUT THE BELT. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED THE DEALER YET BUT WILL THIS WEEK. *TR
04/25/2009 :DRIVING IN THE HIGH WAY, SUDDENLY ENGINE STOP AND EVERYTHING GONE. EVEN BRAKE SYSTEM WAS NOT PROPERLY WORKING. 04/29/2009 :HYUNDAI DEALER HAS FIXED AND I PICKED THE CAR UP. DRIVE AROUND 10 MILES, CAR PROBLEMS HAPPEN SAME , ENGINE GONE AGAIN GEAR PUT IN DRIVE BUT CAR DID NOT MOVE AND 5 MINUTES AFTER, EVERYTHING GONE. *TR CONSUMER IS UPDATING INFORMATION. *NJ UPDATED 05/07/09 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE GEAR FROM REVERSE TO PARK, HE COULD ONLY MOVE THE GEAR FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL. ON APRIL 23 2009 WHILE I WAS ON TONNELE AVE JERSEY CITY NJ, I NOTICED THAT MY SUV'S SPEED GETTING SLOWER AND WHEN I GIVEN GAS IT NOT RESPONDING, AND ENGINE SIGN APPEARED ON ODOMETERS TOOK MANHATTAN AVE TO GET JFK BLVD. I STOPPED AT THE INTERSECTION OF JFK AND MANHATTAN AVE DUE TO RED LIGHT, AFTER GREEN LIGHT I MADE RIGHT TURN, I LOST CONTROL, SUV DROVE INTO DRIVEWAY AND AFTER HITTING TWO CARS MY SUV STOPPED. THANKS GOD NO ONE INJURED. ON MANHATTAN AVE WHEN TRAFFIC GREEN. MADE RIGHT TURN, MY SUV TRAVELED ON LESS THAN 5 YARDS I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING , STEERING WHEEL ALSO NOT MOVING TO CONTROL SUV. AT THE TIME ACCIDENT MY SPEED WAS LESS THAN 5 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THERE WAS A FAILURE WITHIN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE REAR DVD ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. THE ENGINE JUST QUIT WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY DURING MORNING RUSH-HOUR. THERE WAS SUDDENLY NO RESPONSE WHEN ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED. I MANAGED TO GLIDE ACROSS 2 FREEWAY LANES TO EXIT FREEWAY WHILE CAR DECELERATED. THIS OCCURRED ON OCT 7, 2008. I DON'T RECALL IF AT THE OFF RAMP RED LIGHT, THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED AND I RESTARTED IT OR WAS BARELY IDLING. I DO RECALL THE CAR BARELY DRIVING (IT WAS TREMBLING/ROUGH IDLING) THE FEW FEET FROM THE RED LIGHT TO THE FIRST GAS STATION. I PARKED IT AND IT WOULD NOT START UP. HYUNDAI TOWED IT TO THEIR DEALERSHIP. MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM WAS: "THE THROTTLE BODY HAS FAILED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED." I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED THIS AGAIN--AND HAD NOT EXPERIENCED IT BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. WHILE I MANAGED TO AVOID CRASHING INTO OTHER VEHICLES GOING 50-70 MPH WHEN I GLIDED ACROSS THE LANES, THIS WAS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE. (I AM SUBMITTING THIS COMPLAINT 1-1/2 YEARS AFTER THE MECHANICAL FAILURE ONLY BECAUSE OF THE SERIOUS PROBLEMS TOYOTA CUSTOMERS HAVE EXPERIENCED W/SUDDEN ACCELERATION, ETC. AT 16343 MILEAGE, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. DEALER REPLACED BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY UNDER WARRANTY. AT 40,100 MILEAGE, ESC WARNING LIGHT AGAIN ILLUMINATED. DEALER AGAIN REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY SWITCH UNDER RECALL CAMPAIGN 092. AT 87,719 MILEAGE, THE ESC WARNING LIGHT AGAIN ILLUMINATED AND VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. DEALER AGAIN REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY SWITCH AT MY COST, EVEN THOUGH THE BAD SWITCH HAD BEEN REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL. AT 129,000 MILEAGE, THE ESC WARNING LIGHT IS ONCE AGAIN ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO SHIFT FROM PARK. THIS MEANS THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IS AGAIN BAD. THE VEHICLE IS ON IT'S 4TH BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. SINCE THIS IS PART OF A PART DEFECT RECALL, HYUNDAI SHOULD WARRANT THE REPLACEMENT PART FOR LIFETIME FREE REPLACEMENT, BUT THEY DO NOT. THE REPLACEMENT RECALL PART IS OBVIOUSLY NO BETTER THAN THE PART IT REPLACES. THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IS NOT A ROUTINE WEAR PART, AND AT THIS DEGREE OF FAILURE, AN SEVERE DESIGN FLAW IS INDICATED. THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY ITEM THAT AFFECTS ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, SHIFTING, AND BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATION. *TR

AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE 1ST TIME ON 20 AUG 2008 AND CONTINUED 4 MORE TIMES TO 20 DEC 2010. ALL AIRBAG WARNING LIGHTS WERE RESET BY DEALER. I WONDER HOW MANY OWNERS HAVE TO GO TO DEALER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. HE BELIEVES THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HYUNDAI (CASE NUMBER 3328313). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 3,961.
THE 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ HIGH AND LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS CANNOT BE INDEPENDENTLY ADJUSTED AND LEAVE A DARK "GAP" BETWEEN THE LIGHTED AREAS. THE DRIVER CANNOT SEE ANYTHING (TRAFFIC SIGNS, ROAD HAZARDS, ETC) IN THE "GAP." *TR
NHTSA WE PURCHASED A HYUNDAI VERA CRUZ ON 04/02/2008 FROM COCOA HYUNDAI INC. 304 S. COCOA BLVD, COCOA, FL 32922 WE NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE SHINING INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE TREES ON OUR STREET AND THE HIGH BEAMS EVEN HIGHER. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THE REPAIR THEY DID HAD THE HEADLIGHTS SHINING DIRECTLY ON THE ROAD IN FRONT OF THE CAR, ONLY ELIMINATION 15 TO 20 FEET OF ROADWAY. MY WIFE RAN OVER A DOG, BECAUSE SHE COULD NOT SEE IT IN THE ROADWAY UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE. THE DEALER HAS MADE 5 ATTEMPTS TO RE AIM THE HEADLIGHTS IN THIS CAR AND FAILED EACH TIME. NOW WE HAVE BEEN LEFT WITH THE HEADLIGHTS SHINING DIRECTLY AHEAD INTO THE EYES OF THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THE ROADWAY IN FRONT OF THE CAR DARK. I THINK THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF FILING A MOTOR VEHICLE DEFECT NOTIFICATION WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THIS CAR WAS THE 'DEMO' SOLD TO US AS A NEW CAR. I AM STARTING TO THINK THAT SOMEONE HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH THIS CAR AND THE DEALER FIXED IT NOT MENTIONING THAT TO US, AND THIS IS THE REASON THEY CANNOT AIM THE HEADLIGHTS PROPERLY. VEHICLE STOPPED RESPONDING TO GAS PEDAL, FOLLOWED BY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO SERVICE CENTER. DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS), ALSO REFERED AS THE ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR (APS). THE TPS HAS FAILED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 YEARS REQUIRING TOWING VEHICLE OUT OF TRAFFIC EACH TIME.
WE TEST DROVE A 2007 VERACRUZ AND NOTICED A DISTINCT HORIZONTAL LINE RIGHT IN THE FIELD OF VISION ESPECIALLY ON DARK ROADS. THE LINE SEPARATED BRIGHT HEADLIGHT LIGHT BELOW IT AND DARKNESS ABOVE IT. WE WERE CONSTANTLY TRYING TO LOOK BELOW THE LINE FOR A FULL VIEW OF LIGHT. THE LOW BEAMS DID NOT APPEAR TO GIVE ENOUGH UPPER LIGHT TO LIGHT UP ROAD SIGNS OR THE ROAD AHEAD YET ONCOMING DRIVERS CONSTANTLY FLASHED THEIR BEAMS FOR US TO LOWER OUR HIGH BEAMS WHICH WERE NOT ON. TURNING ON THE HIGH BEAMS THE LIGHT DID NOTHING FOR THE ROAD AND SIMPLY LIT UP THE TREES. WE PURCHASED A DIFFERENT VERACRUZ AND THE HEADLIGHTS REACTED EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. AN ONLINE FORUM SHOWS THAT OTHER VERACRUZ OWNERS EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM. ON JANUARY 7, 2008 WE BROUGHT THE HEADLIGHT ISSUE TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SERVICE CENTER. THE ASSOCIATE THERE INDICATED THAT THERE WERE NO TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ON THE HEADLIGHTS AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE US MEET WITH THE AREA HYUNDAI REPRESENTATIVE WHEN HE COMES IN ON JANUARY 15, 2008. WHILE WAITING IN THE SERVICE AREA TO SPEAK TO THE REPRESENTATIVE THE ASSOCIATE APPROACHED US AND APOLOGIZED FOR INCONVENIENCING US BECAUSE THE REPRESENTATIVE ADVISED HIM THAT HE WAS AWARE OF THE HEADLIGHT ISSUE AND WE WOULD NOT NEED TO MEET WITH HIM. AT OUR INSISTENCE THE REPRESENTATIVE MET WITH US AND SAID HYUNDAI IS AWARE IF THE ISSUES WITH THE HEADLIGHTS AND IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON ALL VERACRUZES. IN FACT HE SAID HE DRIVES A VERACRUZ AND HAS SEEN THE HORIZONTAL LINE THAT WE MENTIONED. ASKED WHAT HYUNDAI WAS DOING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM HE REPLIED NOTHING. HE SAID HYUNDAI ASSUMES THAT THE PROBLEM IS NATURE TO THE HIGH OUTPUT LIGHTS USED AND THEY DO NOT INTEND TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. A LETTER OF COMPLAINT TO THE VICE PRESIDENTS OF SERVICE AND SALES AT HYUNDAI WENT UNANSWERED. *TR
MY 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ HAS DEFECTIVE, AND POTENTIALLY UNSAFE, HEADLIGHT AIMING. A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF ONCOMING VEHICLES ARE FLASHING THEIR LIGHTS AT ME, EVEN THOUGH I ONLY HAVE MY LOW BEAMS ON. ALSO, THE AREA AHEAD IS NOT ADEQUATELY LIGHTED, WHEN I DO HAVE MY HIGH BEAMS ON. SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG WITH THE WAY THESE HEADLIGHTS ARE DESIGNED, AND SOMETHING DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE DONE, BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT, OR WORSE! LOW AND HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE LINKED ON THE 2007 HYUNDAI VERZCRUZ SUCH THAT THEY ARE NOT ADJUSTABLE SEPARATELY. THERE IS A NOTICEABLE GAP IN COVERAGE BETWEEN THE LOW AND HIGH BEAMS MAKING DRIVING AT NIGHT UNSAFE. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ADJUST HEADLIGHTS SO THAT BOTH HIGH AND LOW BEAMS ARE FUNCTIONAL. IF LOW BEAMS ARE ADJUSTED PROPERLY, HIGH BEAMS ARE IN OPPOSING DRIVERS' FACES OR IN THE TREES. IF HIGH BEAMS ARE ADJUSTED PROPERLY, LOW BEAMS DO NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH LIGHT FOR SAFE DRIVING. MANUFACTURER SAYS IT IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT DOES NOT HAVE A FIX AND DOES NOT INTEND TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR

HYUNDAI 2007 VERACRUZ LIMITED. DOES NOT DOWNSHIFT PROPERLY. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS I HAVE HAD TO SLOW MY SPEED IN FREEWAY CONGESTION AND THE CAR DOES NOT DOWNSHIFT, EVEN WITH TAPPING ON THE BRAKE. THE CAR STAYS IN 5TH OR 6TH GEAR TO SPEEDS AS LOW AS 20 MPH. I HAVE LITERALLY HAD TO STOP THE CAR COMPLETELY TO GET IT TO SHIFT DOWN. THE CAR HAS NO POWER TO MOVE QUICKLY WHEN NECESSARY IN THESE CONDITIONS (SUCH AS FOR A LANE CHANGE). ADDITIONALLY, THE CAR DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AT APPROXIMATELY 30-40 MPH AND THE ENGINE LUGS, CAUSING A VERY BUMPY RIDE AND NEAR STALLS ON HILLS . THIS CONDITION OCCURS WITH DRIVING ON INCLINES, IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC SUCH AS FREEWAY SLOW-DOWNS, AND WITH AROUND-TOWN DRIVING AT A STANDARD MUNICIPAL SPEED OF 30-35 MPH. I HAVE HAD MY CAR TO TWO DIFFERENT HYUNDAI DEALERSHIPS FOR DIAGNOSIS AND SERVICE ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. DESPITE THAT TWO MECHANICS, TWO SERVICE MANAGERS, ONE GENERAL MANAGER, AND THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE HAVE ALL RIDDEN IN THE CAR AND VERIFIED THE CONDITION, THE FACT THAT THE COMPUTER CANNOT DIAGNOSE A SPECIFIC PROBLEM HAS RESULTED IN ZERO REPAIRS AND ZERO RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. MECHANICS HAVE SPECULATED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDS A NEW COMPUTER, AND POSSIBLY THAT IT NEEDS AN ENTIRELY NEW TRANSMISSION BUT THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE WILL NOT AUTHORIZE SUCH REPAIRS. HE IS RELYING ENTIRELY ON A COMPUTER DIAGNOSIS INSTEAD OF HUMAN LOGIC AND COMMON SENSE. I AM CURRENTLY PURSUING THE LEMON LAW IN MY STATE AND HYUNDAI'S CURRENT POSITION IS THAT "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG" WITH THE CAR AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING FURTHER. *TR

SINCE THE PURCHASE OF MY VEHICLE IN 2007, I HAVE EXPERIENCED A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE DESIGN OF THE HEADLIGHT SYSTEM OF MY 2007 VERACRUZ. THE LOW BEAMS HAVE A HORIZONTAL CUTOFF AND DO NOT ADEQUATELY ILLUMINATE SIGNS, ETC. AT A MEDIUM TO NEAR DISTANCE. THE HIGH BEAMS DO NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROADWAY AT ALL AND ARE AIMED WAY TOO HIGH. THE PROBLEM IS THE HEADLIGHTS ARE DESIGNED SO THAT THEY CANNOT BE AIMED SEPARATELY. THEREFORE, AN ATTEMPT TO LOWER THE HIGH BEAMS WILL RESULT IN A LOWERING OF THE LOW BEAMS WHICH COMPOUNDS THE PROBLEM WITH THE LOW BEAMS AND VICE-VERSA. AFTER SEVERAL VISITS TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS, THEY FINALLY REMOVED THE MECHANISM THAT BINDS THE HIGH AND LOW BEAMS TOGETHER WHICH HAS RESULTED IN A PARTIAL IMPROVEMENT (THE HIGH BEAMS CAN BE LOWERED TO THE POINT WHERE THEY ARE EFFECTIVE). THE LOW BEAMS, HOWEVER, CANNOT BE RAISED SUFFICIENTLY TO READ SIGNS BECAUSE THAT RESULTS IN A DIM BEAM ON THE ROADWAY. *TR
PURCHASED A 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ AND UPON FIRST USE OF HEADLIGHTS, FOUND SAME AIMED LOW WITH NO LIGHT BEYOND 100'. USE OF HIGH BEAM CAUSED ON-COMMING CARS TO FLASH HIGH BEAMS DUE TO MY HIGH BEAMS TO HIGH. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT PROBLEM AND PROVIDED REPAIR MANUAL FOR MY USE. SAME WAS NOT SIMILER TO ADJUSTMENTS ON CAR. FINALLY ADJUSTED LOW BEAMS, BUT HIGH BEAMS ARE IN THE TREES, PROVIDING AT BEST A MOST DANGEROUS LACK OF ADEQUATE LIGHT TO DRIVE. DEALER FINALLY HAS STATED THAT BOTH HIGH AND LOW BEAMS ARE LINKED AND CANNOT BE ADJUSTED SEPERATELY. INTERNET BLOGS STATE HYUNDAI AND SOME DEALERS HAVE A RECALL/FIX BUT NO FIRM EVIDENCE OF SAME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHTS WERE CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED AND THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS CONTINUOUSLY TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE AIR BAG LIGHT TO BE REPAIRED. THE DEALER INFORMED HER THERE WAS A SPILL IN THE CONSOLE THAT AFFECTED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR EITHER FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
