TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 INFINITI G35 SEDAN. THE CONTACT FELT ABNORMAL PULSATION WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR ROUTINE INSPECTION ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND HAD THE REAR AND FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS, ROTORS, AND PADS REPLACED. ALL OF THE REMEDIES HAVE BEEN INSUFFICIENT IN CORRECTING THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,802 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,042. UPDATED 2/18/09 *CN THE STEERING WHEEL KNUCKLE WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 05/20/09.*JB
I LEASED A 2004 INFINITI G-35 COUPE AND AFTER APPROXIMATELY 36,000 MILES, THE CAR STARTED SMELLING HOT AND WOULD VIOLENTLY VIBRATE WHEN DRIVING. THE CLOSEST INFINITI DEALER IS APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES AWAY SO I TOOK THE CAR TO GOODYEAR AND THEY INSTALLED NEW BRAKE PADS ON THE FRONT TIRES. LESS THAN 30 DAYS LATER, THE PROBLEMS STILL PERSISTED AND I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO GOODYEAR AND THEY INSTALLED NEW ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS ON THE REAR WHEELS. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEMS AND 30 DAYS LATER, I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO GOODYEAR AND BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS WERE TOTALLY WORN DOWN. THEY SAID I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM, POSSIBLY THE CALIPERS, AND SUGGESTED I TAKE THE CAR TO THE INFINITI DEALER. I TOOK THE CAR TO CREST INFINITI IN PLANO, TEXAS AND THEY SAID THE BRAKE FLUID HAD BEEN CONTAMINATED. THEY SENT A SAMPLE TO A TESTING LAB BUT NO TEST WAS DONE BECAUSE THE ALLEGED CONTAMINANT WAS SO SMALL IT COULD NOT BE MEASURED. CREST INFINITY REFUSED TO REPAIR THE BRAKES UNDER WARRANTY. I IMMEDIATELY TOO THE CAR TO GRUBBS INFINITI IN EULESS, TEXAS AND THEY ALSO DECIDED TO TEST THE BRAKE FLUID. AFTER THREE WEEKS THE TEST REVEALED NO CONTAMINATE IN THE BRAKE FLUID BUT GRUBBS SAID THAT SINCE THE BRAKES HAD BEEN WORKED ON BY GOODYEAR, THE WARRANTY WAS VOIDED. I HAVE CHECKED THE INTERNET AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT BRAKES ON THE INFINITI G-35. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT'S HAVE BEEN FILED IN BOTH CALIFORNIA AND FLORIDA. I FOUND MANY POSTINGS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS THAT I AM EXPERIENCING. INFINITI REFUSES TO ADMIT THAT A PROBLEM EXISTS AND REFUSES TO REPAIR VEHICLES, INCLUDING MINE, UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BRAKE PADS. THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM THAT CAUSES THE BRAKES TO BE APPLIED WHEN DRIVING THE CAR RESULTING IN EXCESSIVE HEAT AND EXCESSIVE WEAR. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND INFINITI IS DUCKING THE ISSUE AND REFUSING TO ISSUE A RECALL TO REPAIR THIS SERIOUS DEFECT UNDER WARRANTY. *NM
EARLY AFTER I PURCHASED MY CAR G35 6MT 2004 INFINITI COUPE I NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT OIL CONSUMPTION OCCURRING BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. I PROCEEDED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE DEALER AT THE NEXT CHECK UP APPOINTMENT BUT WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO ISSUES. I CONTINUED TO NOTICE THE EXCESSIVE CONSUMPTION OF OIL AND ONCE MORE ASKED THE DEALER TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT. THE SECOND TIME AROUND THE DEALER SAID THAT THERE WAS OIL CONSUMPTION OCCURRING WITH THE CAR AT A RATE OF OVER 1/2QT. PER 1,000MI. HOWEVER, INIFINITI REFUSES TO RECOGNIZE THIS AS EXCESSIVE, AND CLAIMS THE AMOUNT OF OIL CONSUMED IS WITHIN NORMAL STANDARDS. THEY CLAIM THAT A RATE OF 1QT PER 1000 MI. IS STILL ACCEPTABLE. THIS WOULD MEAN THAT IF I FOLLOW THE SERVICE MANUAL'S 3,750MI OIL CHANGES I WOULD BE LEFT WITH UNDER 1.75QTS OF OIL IN THE ENGINE AND IN VERY HIGH PROVABILITY OF EXPLOSION. THESE STANDARDS IN MY OPINION SEEM BACKWARD, MAYBE 40 YEARS AGO THOSE STANDARDS WERE CORRECT. I'VE OWNED MUSTANGS THAT HAVE CONSUMED LESS OIL THAN A BRAND NEW LUXURY VEHICLE. UP TO THIS POINT THERE HAS BEEN NOTHING DONE WITH REGARD TO THIS ISSUE, SINCE INFINITI WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THEIR MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER 2004 G35 THAT DO NOT FACE THIS ISSUE. I'VE CONTINUED TO INVEST A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF MONEY ON MAKING EARLY OIL CHANGES, WHICH INFINITI WILL NOT COVER, IN FEAR THAT IF I DON'T KEEP THE ENGINE IN CHECK I MAY BE IN DANGER OF AN ENGINE EXPLOSION OR SIMILAR. *TR
MY 2004 G35X SEDAN HAS 28K MILES ON IT AND I'M ON MY 3RD SET OF BRAKES. (90% OF MY DRIVING IS HIGHWAY WITH LITTLE BRAKING). THE DEALER ADVISED ME INFINITY KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 36K MILES AND THAT'S ALL THEY WOULD DO. AFTER JUST 100 MILES OF DRIVING WITH NEW PADS THE WHEELS ARE BLACKENED WITH BRAKE DUST. MY LAST SET OF FRONT PADS LASTED ONLY 10K MILES. *JB
2004 INFINITI G35 COUPE (LASER RED)- HUNDREDS ON SAND/STONE/ROCK CHIPS ON HOOD, BUMPER, FRONT FENDERS, ROOF, AND FRONT OF REAR WHEEL-WELLS. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 15,000 MILES ON IT AND IT RARELY DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY. TWO DEALERSHIPS INSPECTED VEHICLE AND DECLINED TO HELP. SUB-PAR PAINT TO SAY THE LEAST! *NM
UNEXPLAINABLE/UNEXPECTED REVVING OF MY ENGINE OCCURRED AT A STOP LIGHT WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. THE ENGINE REVVED UP 5K RPM. NO APPARENT REASON FOR THIS TO OCCUR. NORMAL ROUTE TAKEN FROM WORK INVOLVES STOP AND GO TRAFFIC WITH MULTIPLE STOP LIGHTS. ABOUT 5 MILES INTO JOURNEY HOME, ENGINE REVVED AT THE LIGHT. AVERTED DAMAGE BY PLACING VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNING IGNITION OFF. CAR HAS PEFORMED NORMAL SINCE INCIDENT 2 WEEKS AGO. *NM
I OWN A 2004 INFINITI G35, AND REPEATED HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN THROUGH THE AIR DUCTS. INTERMITTENTLY THE AIR SMELLS "SMOKEY" AND AT TIMES THE AIR IS WARM REGARDLESS OF THE TEMPERATURE SETTING (WHEN IT IS BLOWING AIR, WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING OFF). TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER A COUPLE OF TIMES AND THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. DURING THE SAME PERIOD, THE CAR BURNED OIL (WITH LESS THAN 20,000 MILES). SINCE THEN THE DEALER SUGGESTED SWITCHING TO SYNTHETIC OIL AND THE CAR NO LONGER BURNS OIL, AND I VERY RARELY NOTICE SMOKEY AIR IN THE CABIN. *JB
REAR SEAT BELTS COME OUT OF BRACKET ON REAR OF SEAT. THIS CAUSES THE BELT TO RUB ON THE NECK OF PASSENGERS. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN A CHILD IN A BOOSTER SEAT IS BELTED IN. MY GRANDSON COMPLAINS THAT THE BELT HURTS HIS NECK. DEALER REPLACED THE BRACKETS AND SAME HAPPENS. DEALER NOTED SAME PROBLEM ON OTHER G35S. INFINITI CLAIMS THAT CHANGING THE BRACKET IS ALL THEY CAN DO.*JB
DRIVING FREEWAY EVENING TRAFFIC AT 35 TO 50 MPH. ENGINE JUST TURNED OFF AT ABOUT 40 MPH AND LOST ALL POWER ASSIST. ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART UNTIL CAR CAME TO A FULL STOP AND KEY WAS TURNED OFF FIRST, WAS ABLE TO GET TO SHOULDER OF ROAD. *JB
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HWY THE CRUISE CONTROL ON MY VEHICLE DIS-ENGAGED NUMEROUS TIMES ON ITS OWN. TO ENSURE THAT I WAS NOT INADVERTENTLY TOUCHING THE BRAKE I PULLED MY FEET BACK FROM THE BRAKE UNTIL IT OCCURED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR.
FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDED REPLACEMENT AT 24,744 MILES AND AGAIN AT 44,875. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER THE FIRST TIME REPLACEMENT WAS NEEDED, THEY QUOTED ME ALMOST $600 TO DO THE JOB. THEY DID NOT INFORM ME THAT IN LATE 2003 NISSAN ACKNOWLEDGED A BRAKE DEFECT AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO COVER REPLACEMENT OF BRAKES AND ROTORS UNDER 36,00 MILES. I FOUND OUT RECENTLY THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR THE FIRST REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER REFUSES TO REIMBURSE MY EXPENSES SINCE I HAD THE WORK DONE AT MY LOCAL GAREGE FOR A LOWER PRICE THAN THEY QUOTED ME. *JB
I EXPERIENCED TWO UNINTENDED ACCELERATION INCIDENTS WITH MY VEHICLE.*AK
DT: INFINITI G 35 2004. WHEN IN THE CAR, AND THE DOORS ARE LOCKED EITHER MANUALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY THE CONSUMER COULD NOT UNLOCK THEM UNLESS THEY WERE MANUALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY UNLOCKED. THE CONSUMER COULD NOT UNLOCK THE DOOR BY TUGGING ON THE DOOR HANDLE. THE REASON HE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THIS WAS BECAUSE HE LIVED IN FLORIDA, AND CARS GO INTO CANALS FREQUENTLY. HE IS CONCERNED THAT IN THE EVENT OF THE CAR GOING INTO A CANAL, THE SYSTEM WILL POSSIBLY SHORT OUT, AND HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET THE DOOR OPENED. *AK *SC *JB
SEVERAL TIMES WHEN DRIVING MY 2004 INFINITI G35X, THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE WHEN I DOWNSHIFT IN THE "TIPTRONIC" MODE FROM 3RD TO 2ND OR FROM 2ND TO 1ST. ALTHOUGH THIS HAS NOT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, I WANTED TO PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION TO YOU AS I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE WAY THE CAR IS INTENDED TO OPERATE. THIS CONDITION WOULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AT AN LOW SPEED (30 MILES PER HOUR OR LESS) WHERE THE DRIVER WAS NOT EXPECTING THE CAR WOULD "LUNGE" FORWARD WHEN DOWNSHIFTING WITH A TIPTRONIC TRANSMISSION
I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE AIR FROM THE VENTS IS HEATED NO MATTER WHAT THE DESIRED TEMP SETTING. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT AT TIMES I SMELL FUMES COMING THROUGH THE VENTS EVEN WHEN I AM NOT IN TRAFFIC. I DECIDED TO INVESTIGATE WHERE THE AIR INTAKE IS DRAWN INTO THE CAR, AND TO MY SURPRISE, THE AIR IS BEING TAKEN THROUGH THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THE MASTER CYLINDER COMPARTMENT ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I FIND IT UNBELIEVABLE THAT THE AIR BEING FED TO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT IS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD - WORSE FROM THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT. IF YOU REMOVE THE BATTERY COVER AND LOOK BEHIND THE BATTERY, YOU WILL SEE THE INTAKE DUCT AND THE BLOWER. THIS HAS TO BE A MAJOR HEALTH ISSUE.
HEAVY VIBRATIONS FROM THE TRANSMISSION/MOTOR WHEN STOPPED AND IN NEUTRAL W/O THE AIR ON. FEELS AS IF THE VEHICLE WANTS TO STALL WHEN IT VIBRATES. VIBRATIONS GET WORSE WHEN DRIVEN AT HIGH RPM'S. INFINITI DEALER TECH ADVISES THAT IT'S A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM BUT INFINITI'S CORPORATE OFFICE CLAIMS ITS NORMAL. *NM
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH DRIVER WAS CHANGING LANES AND THE ABS SYSTEM LOCKED UP, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SPIN AND HIT THE CENTER DIVIDER AND FLIP OVER SEVERAL TIMES. THE TWO PASSENGERS AND THE DRIVER WERE KILLED . *AK
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH OR MORE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. ON THE FIRST VISIT THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE SECOND VISIT THE DEALER REPLACED THE COMPLETE THROTTLE BODY CHAMBER. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE CORRECT AT THIS TIME. *JB
THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO THE 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I HAVE HAD THE CAR SEVERAL MONTHS AND HAVE NOTICED A RATTLE/GRINDING NOISE EMINATING FROM THE TRANSMISSION WHILE THE CAR IS STOPPED AND IDLING. THE CAR MUST BE WARMED UP AND HAVE BEEN DRIVEN IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES IN ORDER TO HEAR THE NOISE. WHEN I DEPRESS THE CLUTCH PEDAL, THE NOISE STOPS. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE "THROW OUT" BEARING IN THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION THAT HAS APPARENTLY BEEN RESOLVED IN THE 2005 MODEL. IN ADDITION TO THE NOISE WHILE IDLING, I HAVE NOTICED A "CLUNK" SOUND WHEN SHIFTING INTO AND OUT OF FIRST GEAR. THE NOISE IS GETTING WORSE, BUT IS CURRENTLY TOLLERABLE. THE NOISE WHILE IDLING IS NOT TOLLERABLE.*AK
ENGINE STARTED TO SMOKE AT START UP'S ON MY 2004 G35. HAD VEHICLE FOR ABOUT A YEAR. TOOK VEHICLE TO INFINITI DEALER TO HAVE PROBLEM CORRECTED. INFINITE WOULD NOT REPAIR STATING THAT THERE WAS ENGINE SLUG BUILD UP. TOOK VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO HAVE SECOND OPINION. MECHANIC FOUND NO SLUG BUILD-UP UNDER OIL CAP NOR IN CRANKCASE. I CONTACTED INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO STRESS MY COMPLAINT. NO SATISFACTIONS OR RESOLUTION TO MY COMPLAINT. INFINITI HAS A POOR WARRANTY ON THEIR VEHICLES. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND I NOW DO ALL MY OIL CHANGES EVERY 3000 MILES USING ONLY MOBIL 1 5W 30W FULL SYNTHETIC OIL. AS OF THIS APRIL I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR THREE YEARS AND I AM NOW LOOKING TO TRADE IT IN AND GET RID OF IT BEFORE ANY OTHER PROBLEM SPRING UP ALL OF A SUDDEN. WORST WARRANTY I HAVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH. I ALSO OWN A MERCEDES BENZ AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A SINGLE PROBLEM. *JB
ONGOING REPAIR ISSUES WITH INFINITY QX56 REGARDING NUMEROUS ISSUES, PRIMARILY BRAKES. UNSAFE VEHICLE, WANT TO GET RID OF IT. OVER 30 DAYS OF VISITS TO INFINITY TO TRY TO RECONCILE ALL ISSUES, SOME OF WHICH ARE STILL PENDING. AFTER REPAIRS TO BRAKES, WE WERE TOLD THAT WHEN MANUFACTURER SENT LETTER REGARDING NEED FOR BRAKES TO BE REPAIRED, THEY KNEW THAT THIS WOULD NOT IN FACT REPAIR THE PROBLEM. *JB
IN A LITTLE OVER YEAR AFTER PURCHASING MY G35 SEDAN I ALSO NOTICED THAT IT BEGAN CONSUMING MORE OIL THAN NORMAL. I ALSO HAD TO ADD ABOUT 1/2 OF OIL AFTER EVERY 1500 MILES OF USAGE. OIL CHANGES WERE DONE EVERY 3000 MILES, I ALSO ADVISED INFINITI OF THE PROBLEM BUT ALSO WAS TOLD THAT THIS OIL CONSUMPTION WAS NORMAL. I ADVISED THE INFINITI REP THAT MY ISUZU NOR MY NISSAN EVER HAD THIS PROBLEM OF CONSUMING SO MUCH OIL. A LITTLE AFTER THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE AT START UPS AND BEGAN BURNING MORE OIL. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO INFINITI AND ADVISED THEM OF THE PROBLEM. INFINITI NEW WITHOUT EVEN HAVING TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND WOULD NOT HONOR ANY WARRANTY REPAIRS, STATING POOR MAINTENANCE. I HAD TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT MY COST. INFINITI KNOWS THAT THIS IS A DEFECT ON MOST OF THEIR VEHICLES BUT WILL NOT HONOR THE ENGINE WARRANTY AND MAKE REPAIRS. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE AN INFINITI VEHICLE EVER AGAIN. WHEN EVER I GET A BROCHURE IN THE MAIL FROM INFINITI I DO NOT BOTHER TO OPEN THE ENVELOPE, I JUST THROW IT AWAY IN THE TRASH. INFINITI HAS LOST A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. WHEN PICKING UP, THE VEHICLE WILL HESITATE IN ACCELERATING.
WHILE DRIVING OUR 2004 INFINITY G35 ON THE FWY GOING ABOUT 40 MPH (THE GROUND WAS WET) WE FELT THE TRACK CONTROL STARTED TO SHIFT SIDE TO SIDE, A TRUCK CUT IN FRON US US, WHICH MADE MY HUSBAND PUT ON BRAKES, AS HE PUTTED ON BRAKES, THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT BRAKE LOCKED, WHICH CAUSED FOR THE CARD TO TURN SIDEWAYS AND HIT THE CENTER DIVIDER FULL SPEED. THE BRAKES AFTER THEY LOCKED, NEVER STOPPED THE CAR, THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED US WAS THE CENTER DIVIDER. THE AIRBAGS NEVER POP, AS WE HIT THE WALL GOING 40 MILES PER HOURS. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER RECENTLY AND HAD THE BRAKES CHANGED (2 TIMES IN 11 MONTHS) AND THE LAST TME I TOOD THE CAR I INFORMED THE DEALER THAT THE BRAKES FELT HARD, AND THEY WERE HARD TO STOP THEY STATED THAT THE BRAKES WILL GET BETTER WITH USE, AND THAT'S HOW IT USUALLY FELT AFTER THE BRAKES WERE CHANGED. THE CAR DID NOT DRIVE THE SAME, THE TRACTION WAS NOT WORKING, THE BRAKES LOCKED AND TO TOP IT ALL THE BAGS DID NOT DEPLOYED AFTER IMPACT.*AK
(ABBREVIATED COMMUNICATION WITH INFINITI) [ME] I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2004 G35. AS I HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE, IT HAS BECOME NOTICEABLE THAT THE SEAT CONTROLS IN THE SEAT CUSHION EXERT PRESSURE ON MY UPPER THIGH TO THE POINT OF IT BEING PAINFUL IF DRIVING FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. I ASKED THE DEALER REP. IF THERE HAD BEEN ANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE, AND HE SAID HE HAD NOT HEARD OF ANY, AND HE SAID THAT THE 2005 MODEL HAS THE SAME DESIGN. I AM SURPRISED THAT THIS WAS NOT RESOLVED WITH THE NEW MODEL YEAR AS THERE HAS GOT TO BE OTHER OWNERS WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. CURRENTLY, I DRIVE 15 MINUTES EACH WAY TO WORK, AND AS I AM SITTING HERE TYPING THIS, I CAN FEEL WHAT FEELS LIKE A BRUISE ON MY THIGH FROM THE PRESSURE FROM SITTING NEXT TO THE CONTROLS. I AM 6' 0" 185 POUNDS AND WOULD CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE OF AVERAGE BUILD. IT WOULD SEEM THAT THERE SHOULD BE SOME KIND OF RETROFIT KIT AVAILABLE TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE ADVISE. WE RECOMMEND CONTACTING YOUR LOCAL INFINITI DEALER TO REVIEW VEHICLE CONCERNS WHICH MAY BE ADDRESSED UNDER WARRANTY. [ME] IT DOESN'T APPEAR THAT A CLAIM AGAINST THE WARRANTY IS A VIABLE OPTION. MY PURPOSE IN CONTACTING INFINITI IS TO NOTIFY YOU OF THE PROBLEM HOPING THAT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN OR WILL BE ADDRESSED BY THE DESIGN TEAM AND A SOLUTION PURSUED. CALLED THE INFINITI HOTLINE THEY SAID IT SHOULD BE FIXED NOW. HAD IT TOWED THE FIRST TIME ON OCT 20, 2004. SECOND AND THIRD TIMES A IT WOULD RESTART BUT VERY SLUGISH. THEY PICKED IT UP. FOURTH TIME THEY CAME AND TOOK VEHICLE. *AK
TRANSMISSION MAKES CHATTERING NOISE AS THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN (ONLY ABLE TO HEAR WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS WARMED UP AND ONLY ABLE TO HEAR IT FROM OUTSIDE OR WITH THE DOOR OPEN.). TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED BUT THE CHATTERING NOISE STILL EXISTS. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM EXISTS INTERNALLY IN ALL 6 SPEED TRANNYS' AND THE PROBLEM CAN NOT BE ATTENDED TO UNLESS MORE PEOPLE COMPLAIN. *JB
THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN INCIDENT BUT A SERIOUS CONCERN. FRONT SEAT BELT CONNECTOR IS SO HIGH THAT THE SEAT BELTS REST AGAINST MY STOMACH INSTEAD ON ON MY LAP. THIS SEEMS TO BE VERY DANGEROUS INCASE OF A FRONTAL COLLISION. NOT ONLY WOOULD THE FORCE OF THE BELT BE AGAINST MY STOMACH, BUT IS SEEMS I COULD SLIP UNDER THE BELT AND POSSIBLEY HAVE HEAD OR NECK INJURIES FROM THE SHOULDER BELT. THE INFINITI SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. THE DRIVER SIDE IS WORSE THAN THE PASSENGER SIDE. *AK
THIS CAR HAS A BAD CASE OF AUTOMATIC ACCELERATION. SINCE IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR THE PAST 9 YEARS, I'VE GOTTEN FAMILIAR WITH THE SYMPTONS. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF WAYS THE CAR WILL SIMPLY ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN AND ALL OF THEM OCCUR WHEN BRAKING: 1) WHILE SITTING AT A COMPLETE STOP WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE AND FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE WILL SUDDENLY JUST REV UP TO 4 OR 5 THOUSAND RPM. 2) SAME AS ABOVE BUT ACCELERATION CAN BE CAUSED BY PRESSING HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. 3) EXITING FREEWAY AND BRAKING, THE ENGINE WILL REMAIN AT THE SAME RPM AND/OR SPEED UP. 4) (THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST DANGEROUS) WHEN BRAKING EXTRA HARD, THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFT DOWN AND THE ENGINE GOES TO FULL THROTTLE. THIS ONE HAS NEARLY GOTTEN ME A COUPLE OF TIMES. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE THROTTLE, THROTTLE BODY, ETC. NOTHING HAS RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. IT IS INTERMITTENT AND INCIDENTS MAY BE MONTHS APART. UNTIL RECENTLY, THE DEALER HAS DENIED THAT ANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM IN THE USA. OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINING ABOUT IT SINCE 2003 ON VARIOUS INTERNET SITES WHILE THE MANUFACTURER DENIES THERE IS A PROBLEM AND HAS ALLOWED IT TO PERSIST FOR 10 YEARS. ONLY RECENTLY HAS THE DEALER ADMITTED OTHER PROBLEMS AND STATED THEY WERE AFRAID OF WHAT HAPPENED TO TOYOTA. BRIEFLY LOOKING AT ENTRIES ON THE NHTSA SITE, THERE HAVE BEEN ABOUT HALF A DOZEN COMPLAINTS A YEAR. NONE REPORTED A FATALITY BUT THEN THE DEAD ARE UNLIKELY TO FILE A COMPLAINT. IF A TENTH OF A PERCENT OF THE OWNERS EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM FILED COMPLAINTS, THAT WOULD BE 6,000 VEHICLES PER YEAR ARE BEING PRODUCED WITH THIS FATAL FLAW. IN SUMMARY, WHAT DO YOU DO WITH A POTENTIALLY LETHAL VEHICLE? SELL IT TO SOME UNSUSPECTING PERSON AND ENDANGER THEIR LIFE OR KEEP IT AND WONDER WHEN IT WILL KILL ME? I OWN A 2004 INFINITI G35 COUPE 6MT WITH A PROBLEM WITH A FRONT WHEEL ROTOR. ONE OF THE EIGHT ROTOR SURFACES IS NOT WITH-IN SPEC AS WITH THE OTHER SEVEN SURFACES, AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AS PER INFINITI TECHS.I HAVE THE MODEL THAT UTILIZES BREMBO BRAKES AND THE TECH AND INFINITI USA SAID THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE NON-BREMBO BRAKES AND THAT THE REPAIR WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY SINCE IT WAS A WEAR AND TEAR SITUATION.AS I MENTIONED BEFORE. ALL BUT ONE ROTOR SURFACE, AND ALL BRAKE PADS WERE UP TO SPEC. MY QUESTION IS THIS. 2004 WITH APPROX. 7,200 MILES. RATTLING NOISE HEARD IN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. DEALER SAID IT NEEDED NEW TRANNY. REPLACED TRANNY. PICKED UP CAR AND WHILE DRIVING HOME, COULD NOT GET IT INTO 5TH OR 6TH GEAR. BACK TO DEALER. WAS TOLD THAT TRANNY WAS BAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. PICKED UP CAR AND WITHIN A WEEK HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE IN 5TH GEAR, VIBRATION IN STICK SHIFT AND A CLANKING NOISE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER CAR SITTING FOR A BIT. LATER FOUND OUT THAT DEALER LIED ABOUT INSTALLING THE 2ND TRANSMISSION. DEALER REFUSES TO TELL ME OR GIVE ME PAPER WORK STATING WHAT WAS DONE ON CAR THE 2ND TIME THEY HAD. INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND REGIONAL MANAGER HAVE NOT PROVEN TO BE OUT FOR CONSUMERS INTEREST. IN FACT, THEY CALL LYING ABOUT THE 2ND TRANNY A "MISTAKE". SOUNDS LIKE FRAUD TO ME, ESPECIALLY WHEN I WAS TOLD SEVERAL TIMES THAT THEY DON'T REPAIR TRANNYS ...THEY ONLY REPLACE THEM. THEY ALSO GAVE ME A WORK ORDER/PAPERWORK STATING THAT NEW TRANNY WAS INSTALLED TWICE. *JB
I RAN OVER A DOG WHICH DID BUMPER DAMAGE AND SOME DAMAGE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. WHILE THERE WAS NO DAMAGE ABOVE THE BUMPER, THE HOOD LATCH RELEASE, LETTING THE HOOD FOLD BACK OVER THE WINDSHIELD. THE HOOD WAS DESTROYED, BOTH FRONT FENDERS DAMAGED, THE ROOF DENTED, AND THE SUNROOF DAMAGED. I WAS DOING 70 MPH WHEN THE HOOD COVERED THE WINDSHIELD! THE BODY SHOP AND INSURANCE ADJUSTER SAID THE HOOD LATCH SHOULD NOT HAVE RELEASED.
I STOPPED MY MY 2004 INFINITI G35 SEDAN AT THE END OF MY DRIVEWAY, SET THE PARKING BRAKE, AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO RETRIEVE AN ITEM LEFT ON THE GROUND NEXT TO MY MAILBOX. WHEN I WALKED AWAY FROM THE CAR, IT BEGAN ROLLING. THE CAR ROLLED OFF THE SIDE OF MY DRIVEWAY AND INTO THE WOODS, WHERE IT HIT A TREE, CAUSING CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE. THE DRIVER'S-SIDE SHOULDER HARNESS PORTION OF THE SEATBELT INTERMITTENTLY LOCKS IN POSITION, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH THE DASHBOARD, UNLESS THE DRIVER UNBUCKLES THEIR SEATBELT FIRST. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER, ORLANDO INFINITY, AND THEY SAID THE SEATBELT WAS OKAY. I HAVE HARDCOPY OF THEIR STATEMENTS. TWICE I HAVE NEARLY CRASHED, SECONDARY TO NOT BEING ABLE TO REACH THE DASH DURING ALL TOO TYPICAL ORLANDO DRIVING CONDITIONS. I QUESTION IF THIS INTERMITTENT PROBLEM IS INHERENT IN OTHER G35 COUPES (2004). Lock actuators on passenger side have NEVER worked, fuel pump stops working when filling up tank even though not nearly full (have to repush the pump in several times - sometimes it doesn’t let me fill up tank totally because it thinks it’s full), right headlights fog up and can't be polished, light bulbs went out. Cruise control NEVER worked, a/c stopped working at 77,000 miles, window motor on both doors broke before 75,000 miles

THE TIRES SOLD WITH THE CAR WERE "SUMMER ONLY" TIRES WITH AN N/A TRACTION RATING ON THE SIDEWALL. THIS FACT WAS NOT MENTIONED BY THE DEALERSHIP NOR ON THE CAR WINDOW STICKER NOR IN THE BROCHURE THAT GIVES THE DETAILS ABOUT THE CAR. WHEN I MADE THIS PROBLEM KNOWN TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY WERE INDIFFERENT. I HAVE JUST SPENT $1400 TO PURCHASE 4 WINTER PERFORMANCE TIRES FOR THIS CAR. THIS IS A FURTHER COMPLAINT RELATIVE TO COMPLAINT 10047159 RELATED TO A NEW INFINITI G35 WITH LESS THAT 2000 MILES ON IT WHEN THREE INCIDENTS OCCURRED. THE INCIDENTS INVOLVED THREE OCCASIONS IN WHICH THE CAR SUDDEDLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED TO VERY HIGH SPEEDS WITHOUT A ACTION BY THE DRIVER THAT SHOULD CAUSE SUCH ACCELERATIONS. IN TWO OF THE CASES THE CAR WAS IN SPEED CONTROL; IN ONE IT WAS NOT. 2 OF THE CASES: CAR IN SPEED CONTROL AT 60 MILES AN HOUR, FOOT WELL AWAY FROM ACCELERATOR. CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATES FULL THROTTLE TO 90 MILES AN HOUR BEFORE VERY SEVERE BRAKING CAN BRING CAR UNDER CONTROL. NOT ONLY DOES STEPPING ON THE BRAKE NOT TAKE THE CAR OUT OF SPEED CONTROL, IT DOES NOT SIGNIFICANTLY SLOW CAR AS CAR CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE. SECOND OCCURRENCE INVOLVED CAR IN SPEED CONTROL AT 50 MILES AN HOUR. SAME THING HAPPENS BUT I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP CAR AS IT RAPIDLY ACCELERATED AND FINALLY HAD TO SHUT THE IGNITION OFF AND DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER (INFINITI OF DENVER) ON 11/14/03, AND RETURNED TO ME (CAR IS ACTUALLY REGISTERED IN MY WIFE'S NAME, LOIS RINGER) OVER MY VERY STRONG OBJECTIONS ON 12/1/03, WITH THE STATEMENT THAT THE DEALER AND INFINITI ENGINEERS WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEREFORE THEY WOULD NOT INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM FURTHER, BASED ON DIRECTION FROM INFINITI. THE PROBLEM ONLY OCCURS SPORATICALLY, SO IT IS NOT SURPRISING THAT THEY DID NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM IN THE MINOR TESTING THEY DID. I HAVE A 2004 GS SEDAN WITH ABOUT 2000 MILES ON IT PURCHASED IN OCTOBER 2003. IN THE LAST FEW DAYS I HAVE HAD THREE OCCASIONS WHEN THE ACCELERATOR FLOOR BOARDED ITSELF WITH NO ACTION ON MY PART TO CAUSE SUCH BEHAVIOR. ON ONE OCCASION THE CAR WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL AT ABOUT 60, AND ACCELERATED TO 90 BEFORE I COULD GET THE CAR UNDER CONTROL. PUSHING THE BRAKE PEDAL DID NOT DISENGAGE THE ACTION. THE SECOND TIME THE CAR WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL AT ABOUT 50 AND THE SAME THING HAPPEN AS I GENTLY PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO PASS A CAR. THE ACCELERATOR UNEXPECTED WENT TO THE FLOOR, WITH RESULTANT VERY SHARP ACCELERATION. THIS TIME I HAD TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF, AND COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WOULD NOT START SINCE THE ACCELERATOR WAS FLOORBOARDED. FINALLY GOT THE ACCELERATOR TO BREAK LOSE BY USING THE EDGE OF MY SHOE SOLE AND THE CAR WOULD RESTART, AND THEN BEHAVED NORMALLY FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. THE THIRD TIME I WAS NOT IN CRUISE CONTROL, HAD SLOWED FOR AN EXIT RAMP, AND THEN GENTLY PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR TO SPEED UP. AGAIN THE ACCELERATOR FLOORBOARDED ITSELF, WITH VERY SHARP ACCELERATION. I DISENGAGED THE BEHAVIOR BY AGAIN LIFTING THE ACCELERATOR WITH THE EDGE OF MY SHOE. ONE COULD FEEL A POP EACH TIME THE ACCELERATOR WAS LIFTED WITH THE SHOE. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHO HAS NOW HAD IT FIVE DAYS. SAYS HE HAS NOT SEEN THIS BEHAVIOR AND HIS POSITION IS THAT UNLESS HE CAN REPLICATE IT HIMSELF THERE ARE NO REPAIRS TO MAKE. I WILL NOT TAKE CAR BACK UNTIL DEALER SIGNS A LETTER VALIDATING THAT I CONSIDER THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THAT HE WILL ASSUME ANY LIABILITY FOR ACCIDENTS RELATED TO THE PROBLEM.
