I BOUGHT A 2005 INFINITI G35 LAST YEAR AND DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE OIL CONSUMPTION DEFECT THAT THE G35 HAS. I RECENTLY DEVELOPED A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE AND WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL I NOTICED THE ENGINE WAS LOW ON OIL. I FILLED THE CAR UP WITH THE 2 QUARTS OF OIL THAT WAS MISSING. I CHECKED THE ENGINE, ENGINE BAY AND ALSO UNDER THE CAR TO SEE IF THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK PRESENT BUT THERE WASN'T ANY. A FRIEND OF MINE TOLD ME ABOUT THE OIL CONSUMPTION THAT THE CAR IS KNOWN TO HAVE AND TO MY SURPRISE MY CAR WAS CONSUMING A QUART OF OIL EVER 500 MILES
ENGINE SHUTOFF WITHOUT WARNING. SERVICE ENGINE SOON, SLIP, AND VDC OFF INDICATORS ALL IMMEDIATELY ILLUMINATED. PROBLEM OCCURRED 3 TIMES WITHIN A ONE HOUR PERIOD. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE CAR EACH TIME. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION, ESPECIALLY IF IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE ON AN EXPRESSWAY. PROBLEM SEEMS SIMILAR TO RECALL 03V455000, BUT MY VIN IS NOT LISTED.

THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,643.
FAULTY CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR - CODE 0345 - CAR STALLED WHEN DRIVING 15 MPH CITY DRIVING WAS ON A CURVE CAR IS AN AUTOMATIC WAS ABLE TO RESTART WHILE COASTING IN NEUTRAL. APPROXIMATELY 112,000 MILES
OIL CONSUMPTION. IT USES TOO MUCH OIL. THE SAME MOTOR IN NISSAN 350 Z WAS AN ISSUE WHICH RESULTED IN NISSAN REPLACING THE ENGINE IT'S CALLED A VQ ENGINE.
MY INFINITY G35 2005 M/T HAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT OF OIL CONSUMPTION AND IS VERY COMMON TO THE ENGINE FOR THIS MODEL THE VQ35 IT ONLY HAS 63,000 MILES ON IT AND IT CONSUMES 1.5 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. THE CAR STARTS KNOCKING WITH NO OIL IN IT BY 2,000 AFTER AN OIL CHANGE. I CHANGE THE OIL AND ONLY 1 QUART COMES OUT WHEN IT'S SUPPOSED TO HAVE 5QUARTS! THIS IS ALSO CAUSING MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO TURN ON WITH CODES THAT THE OXYGEN SENSORS AND THREE WAY CATALYST ARE BAD. IT SQUEALS WHEN TURNING IT ON AND KNOCKS WHILE DRIVING.
DRIVING CAR IN TRAFFIC - THE CAR STALLED. ALMOST REAR ENDED. NO WARNING. UNABLE TO RESTART CAR FOR 5-10 MINUTES. ON ENGINE LIGHT ON - VCF (OFF) LIGHT ON - SLIP LIGHT ON. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE CRANKSHAFT ANGEL SENSOR AND/OR THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. CAR AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS DOWN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AFTER RESTARTING IT THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAM SHAFT AND CRANK SHAFT SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
IN DECEMBER 2013 I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 60 MPH WHEN VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP BECAUSE OF THE SPEED I WAS DRIVING. LATER ON MY TRIP HOME I WAS DOING 45 MPH AND VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND LOSS ALL CONTROL OF VEHICLE. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTOZONE TO SCAN AND SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. IT WAS THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS. I CHANGED THE SENSORS AND HAD NO PROBLEMS UNTIL 3/20/2014 WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED SHUTTING DOWN AGAIN. FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS BAD FUEL. TRIED DIFFERENT FUEL STATION AND VEHICLE STILL WOULD SHUT DOWN UNEXPECTED. WHEN VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN YOU LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR THE ROUTE THAT I DRIVE DUE TO A LOT OF CURVES IN THE ROAD. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO AUTOZONE AGAIN TO SCAN FOR THE PROBLEM AND NOW IT'S THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. CALLED INFINITI TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF COMMENTS ON THIS PROBLEM. INFINITI SAID THERE WAS NO OPEN RECALL. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, WASHINGTON, DC. MY CAR, FOR NO APPARENT REASON SHUT OFF AND A LIGHT "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" CAME ON. THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THE CAR WAS GOING TO CUT-OFF. IT SIMPLY SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I TRIED TO RESTART AND WAS UNSUCCESSFUL THE FIRST COUPLE OF TIMES. ABOUT THE 4TH TRY MY CAR STARTED AND I CONTINUED TO MY DESTINATION. THE "SES" LIGHT REMAINED ON. ABOUT 1 TO 2 MILES INTO THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE, THE CAR SHUT OFF AGAIN IN TRAFFIC AND A LIGHT THAT READ "SLIP" APPEARED ALONG WITH VDC ON/OFF. I HAVE THE SLIGHTEST IDEA WHAT THIS MEANS, BUT IT WAS FRIGHTENING TO BE IN TRAFFIC AND HAVE MY CAR SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING AND MY CHILDREN ON BOARD. WE COULD HAVE DEFINITELY BEEN IN A REALLY BAD SITUATION HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY. I'VE SEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND BELIEVE THIS SHOULD TRULY BE CONSIDERED AS A VIABLE RECALL. I DON'T THINK WE SHOULD WAIT FOR ANY ACTUAL ACCIDENT OR DEATH TO OCCUR BEFORE THIS IS ADDRESSED PROPERLY. *TR

AS I HAVE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THIS ISSUE ON OTHER MODELS, IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND AN UPDATED RECALL FOR OTHER MODEL YEARS NEEDS TO BE ENFORCED. I WAS ON MY WAY TO SCHOOL DOING 65 ON THE FREEWAY WHEN MY CAR LOSES POWER AND STARTS TO STALL IN THE FREEWAY. IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO EXPLODE AND COULDN'T ACCELERATE. I GOT OFF THE NEXT EXIT AND IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER IN A GAS STATION. LATER ON I BROUGHT IT TO THE SHOP AND TOLD ME MY CAMSHAFT BROKE. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2003/2004 MODELS FOR CAMSHAFT DOING THIS BUT STOPPED FOR 2005 EVEN THOUGH MY CAR DID THE SAME THING AS THEY DID. CALLED INFINITI AND THEY HAD NOTHING TO SAY. THANKFULLY I WASN'T HURT BUT I REALLY WISH INFINITI STEPPED UP AND FIXED THIS PROBLEM FOR THE 2005 MODELS BECAUSE IT IS NOT SAFE AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THEY DID IT FOR 03/04 MODELS AND IF IT DOES IT IN THE 05'S WHY NOT DO A RECALL ALSO. *TR
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IN MOTION CREATING A DANGER ON THE ROADWAY. RESTARTED, BUT THE ENGINE HESITATED BEFORE TURNING OVER. CHECK ENGINE, VDC & SLIP WARNING LIGHTS WERE DISPLAYED AND REMAINED ON. DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE AND DETERMINED A FAULTY CAM SENSOR AND REMEDIED TO REPLACE COSTING ALMOST $500. THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL ON THE 2003 MODEL WHICH HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. RECALL #03V455000. INFINITI WILL NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT THEIR EXPENSE WITHOUT A RECALL. IT SHOULD BE ASSUMED NEWER MODELS WILL EXHIBIT SIMILAR PROBLEMS AS THE ORIGINAL RECALL. I HOPE SUBSEQUENT MODELS WILL BE ADDED TO THE ORIGINAL RECALL. MOST OWNERS ARE NOT AWARE OF REPORTING THESE ISSUES UNTIL SERIOUS INJURIES OCCUR AND THERE'S LITIGATION.
