TIRES CONTINUALLY BLOW OUT DUE TO DEFECTIVE RIMS. *JB
MY 2003 LEASED JAGUAR WAS RECENTLY SERVICED AT 19,000 MILES. MY FRONT TIRES WERE LOSING AIR AND ASKED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FIND OUT WHY. I WAS TOLD THE FRONT RIMS WERE BENT AND THE TIRES WERE WORN ON THE INSIDE. THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS CAR WAS RECALLED ONCE AND I HAD TO BE TOWED TWICE DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING NOT WORKING PROPERLY DUE TO MANUFACTURER PROBLEM AND THE RADIATOR'S CLAMP COMING LOOSE, WHICH IS ALSO A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM. AT 19,000 MILES BENT RIMS AND NEW TIRES ARE OBSURED.*AK
CAR ENGINE TROUBLE LIGHT HAS COME ON NUMEROUS TIMES. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE GAS TANK THREE TIMES ALREADY DUE TO LEAKS. WITH ALL THESE LEAKS I FEEL THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *AK
STRONG SMELL OF BURNING OIL IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AFTER DRIVING 20 MILES, OR SO, AND COMING TO A STOP. TRANSFER CASE REPLACED TWICE UNDER WARRANTY AND PROBLEM PERSISTS.*AK
MY 2003 X-TYPE JAGUAR HAS GONE THROUGH 5 BENT WHEELS AND APPROX 9 TIRES. JAGUAR IS NOT HONORING THE WARRANTY AND CLAIMS IT WAS CAUSED BY ROAD HAZARDS. THIS ALL HAPPEND AT DIFFERENT TIMES IN THE LAST 1 1/2 YEARS. THE CAR WAS NEVER DRIVEN OFF ROAD OR IN POT HOLES OR UNREASONABLE DEVIATIONS IN THE ROAD. THE COST TO REPAIR IS OVER $4700 PLUS I AM PAYING FOR A RENTAL CAR AT $20/DAY. *AK
I HAVE HAD 5 SEPRATE BLOW OUTS HITING SMALL POT HOLES AT SPEEDS OF UNDER 35 MPH THE SIDE WALLS BLEW IN ALL CASES AND IN TWO CASES THE RIMS BENT . A TIRE EXPERT TOLD ME THAT THE CAR IS TO HEAVY FOR THE TIRE AND RIMS !!*AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED ON DASHBOARD. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED.*AK
2 SEPARATE INCIDENTS (9 MOS. APART), WHEN APPLYING BRAKES TO STOP FOR TRAFFIC LIGHT, CAR WOULD NOT STOP - ENGINE REVVED VERY HIGH, PUT GEAR SHIFT IN NEUTRAL, ENGINE REVVING OUT OF CONTROL - HAD TO TURN IGNITION OFF TO STOP CAR. THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED, I VERY NARROWLY AVOIDED REAR-ENDING CAR IN FRONT OF ME - TOOK EVASIVE ACTION BY MOVING INTO TURNING LANE.*AK
MOVEMENT IS DIFFICULT TO PREDICT. AT 15 MPH SIGNIFICANT UPSHIFTING. PROBLEM OCCURS IN COASTING AT 20 MPH DOWN TO 10 MPH. AS YOU DECELERATE CAR LURCHES INTO FISRT GEAR. MAKING BRAKE DISTANCE IMPOSSIBLE TO PREDICT. CAUSING ACCIDENTS AT TRAFFIC STOPPING POINTS. ALSO SIGNIFICANT LURCHING AT 15MPH, 40MPH AND THEN AFTER 70MPH. CAR IS AN AUTOMATIC AND DRIVES LIKE A MANUAL, IS THE PRIMARY CONCERN AND STOPPING DISTANCE IS UNPREDICTABLE. (TRANSMISSION ISSUE AFTER THREE SERVICES IN THE FIRST YEAR) SERVICE SECRETARY/MANAGER ARGUES THAT AUTOMOBILE IS FINE WITHOUT TEST DRIVING. MECHANIC JOINED IN TEST DRIVE AND QUICKLY NOTED THAT A PROBLEM EXISTS YET FIX WAS ONLY TEMPORARY. *AK
ALL 4 TIRES ARE OUT OF ROUND, AND THE TREAD IS SEPARATING. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. SIZE 225/45R17.*AK
THIS IS NOW THE 3RD OCCASSION OF APPARENT TRANSMISSION SURGES WHILE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEED. AFTER PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR WHILE PASSING ANOTHER CAR, THE ENGINE RPM SHOT UP TO 9000, WHILE TO CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE CAUSING A NEAR COLLISION. THE PRIOR 2 OCCURENCES WERE WHILE DRIVING AT 40-50MPH, THE CAR SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTS WITH A GRINDING NOISE AND A CLUNK FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.*AK
PROBLEMS WITH TIRE EQUIPMENT ON 2003 JAGUAR X. *MR WHEN DRIVING TWENTY MILES PER HOUR , THE VEHICLE HIT A POTHOLE AND THE FRONT TIRE WENT FLAT. THE TIRE HAD A SLIT ON THE OUTSIDE SLIGHTLY ABOVE THE TREADS. DURING INSPECTION, IT TURNED OUT THAT A DIFFERENT TIRE HAD A BULGE AND THAT ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED. ONE OF THE REPLACEMENT TIRES STARTED TO LOSE AIR. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAND NEW TIRE ALSO HAD A SLIT IN THE SAME PLACE AS THE FIRST TWO TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN OVER A POTHOLE AGAIN AND THE NEXT MORNING THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE TIRE HAD A SLIT IN THE SAME PLACE AS THE OTHERS. *SC *JB
PROBLEMS WITH TIRES ON 2003 JAGUAR X-TYPE. *MR THE VEHICLE HIT A POT HOLE AND THE FRONT TIRE WENT FLAT. THE TIRE HAD A SLIT ON THE OUTSIDE, SLIGHTLY ABOVE THE TREADS. THE VEHICLE HIT SOMETHING IN THE ROAD WHICH CAUSED THE RIMS TO CRUSH AND THE TIRES TO DEFLATE. THE TIRES AND RIMS WERE REPLACED AND ALIGNED. THIS HAPPENED TWICE BEFORE. *AK *NM
PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT LIGHTS WHEN PERSON IS IN SEAT. ADULT IT SIGNIFIES THE AIR BAG IS INOPERABLE. JAGUAR STATES IT KNOWS THIS. THEY HAVE STATED ITS A DEFECT IN THIS MODEL AND"IT CANNOT BE FIXED"
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE VEHICAL'S CRUISE CONTROL WAS ACTIVATED WHEN A GEAR BOX FAILURE OCCURED (THIS WAS THE MESSAGE DISPLAYED BY THE CAR), THEREFORE RESULTING IN THE CAR STALLING WHILE GOING APPROX 55MPH. THE CAR WAS THEN STUCK IN THE REAR BY ANOTHER VEHICAL THAT FAILED TO NOTICE MY VEHICAL SLOWING. I ALSO EXPRIENCED A FUEL GAGE EROOR ON 2/13/04 THE FUEL BOX WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. ALL INFORMATION IS STORED IN ONBOARD COMPUTER.
CONSUMER EXPERIENCED TWO SPONTANEOUS BLOWOUTS. *PH *JB
I PULLED INTP A SLOT ON A PARKING DECK. WHEN I TRIED TO CHANGE THE GEAR TO PARK THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD CRASHING INTO A RETAINING WALL. IT WAS PUSHING AGAINST THE WALL SO HARD I WAS AFRAID I WOULD GO THROUGH THE WALL OR OVER THE WALL. I WAS ON THE SECOND LEVEL OF THE DECK. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE IT SPED BACKWARD AND STRUCK A CAR PARKED BEHIND ME. IT THEN CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE WALL SPUN AROUND AND CRASHED THE DRIVERS DOOR INTO A CONCRETE PILLER IT THEN STRAIGHTENED UP AND SPED STRAIGHT BACKWARD CRASHING INTO A 4 FT HIGH WALL WHERE THE ENGINE CUT OFF.*AK
BRAKE PEDAL AND GAS PEDAL ARE TOO CLOSE. ONCE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE TIP OF CONSUMER'S FOOT HIT THE ACCELERATOR, AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CONTINUE ACCELERATING INSTEAD OF STOPPING. THIS RESULTED IN A CRASH. *AK *MR
CONSUMER HAS A PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY VEHICLE EITHER DOWN SHIFTS OR SUGES FORWARD. HE STATES THESE CONDITIONS HAPPEN WHEN HE IS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, BETWEEN 55-60 MPH. HE HAS TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE, THE FIRST TIME THE MECHANIC HAD NO CLUE OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THEN TWO WEEKS LATER, WHILE DRIVING ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED, AND HE HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY CONSUMER'S KNEE HITS THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE VEHICLE WILL TURN OFF. *AK
PROBLEMS WITH 2003 JAGUAR XK8 STALLING. *MR WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONSUMER CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT WHEN HIS KNEE ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. *NM
(1) AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS SUBSEQUENT TO PURCHASE, THE CABIN SMELLED OF GASOLINE. JAGUAR SCHERERVILLE, INDIANA DIAGNOSED AS AN IMPROPER GAS CAP FITTING. 2) THE SMELL CONTINUES AND JAGUAR HAS NOW DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS A HOLE IN THE GAS TANK.*AK (3) JAGUAR, WHILE RECOGNIZING THAT SEVERAL VEHICLES HAVE HAD THIS DEFECT, REFUSES TO EITHER REPAIR THE GAS TANK AS A WARRANTY ITEM, OR RECALL THE GAS TANK AS DEFECTIVE AND A PUBLIC SAFETY CONCERN. DATES ARE APPROXIMATE AND FAILURES ARE CONTINUING IN NATURE. AS WELL, THE FUEL SYSTEM IS NOW FAILING AND CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL OPERATIONAL DIFFICULTIES IN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND MERGING INTO TRAFFIC.
AIR BAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER KEEPS STATING THERE ARE NO DEFECTS FOUND ON EACH SERVICING. *AK
THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. *JB
THE 2003 AND PERHAPS 2002 JAGUAR X CLASS HAVE A "LOW OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE" SCREEN THAT BECOMES VISIBLE WHEN THE CAR'S THERMOMETER READS 38 DEGREES OUTSIDE; THIS NORMALLY OCCURS WHEN DRIVING SUBSEQUENT TO THE CAR BEING GARAGED; TO SHUT OFF THIS SCREEN THE DRIVER MUST LOOK TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND THEN DOWN TO FIND AND PRESS A RESET BUTTON FOR 5 SECONDS; THIS PRESENTS AN UNSAFE SITUATION AS THE DRIVERS EYE CONTACT IS NO LONGER ON THE ROAD; MOREOVER, THE OWNER'S MANUAL CLAIMS THE SCREEN IS SUPPOSE TO SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY AFTER 4 SECONDS (PAGE 4-12); THE COMPANY AND DEALER I BOUGHT AN X CLASS FROM HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AND REFUSE TO RESPOND TO THE ISSUE. JAGUAR TOLD ME THE OWNERS MANUAL CAN BE WRONG AND THE DEALER RESPONDED THAT IT IS A "BLACK ICE" WARNING. (I DO NOT KNOW WHAT BLACE ICE IS.)
STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT RACK PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
CONSUMER HAD CONSIDERABLE PROBLEMS WITH A DEAD BATTERY. *PH *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH, GOING AROUND A SLIGHT TURN IN THE ROAD, ENGINE DIED WHICH RESULTED IN THE WHEEL LOCKING UP IN THE LEFT TURN POSITION, AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES.*AK
CONSUMER STATES WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION VEHICLE IDLING HIGH. ALSO, WHILE FOOT WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD, HITTING A TREE.*AK
ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS VEHICLE EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE. WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED IT WENT TO THE FLOOR, BUT THE VEHICLE DIDN'T STOP. CURRENTLY, VEHICLE IS BEING SERVICED BY THE DEALERSHIP. CORRECT MODEL XJ8 2004.*AK
THE COMBINATION OF THE TIRES AND THE NEW DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM PRODUCED A SITUATION WHERE IF THERE'S LOW TEMPERATURE/SNOW ON THE GROUND, THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY MOVE AT A CRAWL. *PH *JB
THE COWLING THAT'S LOCATED OVER THE GAS PEDAL MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO USE THE RIGHT FOOT TO PRESS THE BRAKE. *PH PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED ONLY IN THE 2004 MODELS NOT ON THE 2003 MODELS. *LA
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH VEHICLE WAS HIT BROADSIDE. UPON IMPACT, SIDE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. *AK
