TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JAGUAR XJ8. UPON SHIFTING THE VEHICLE FROM PARK INTO REVERSE, THE GEAR FAILED TO CHANGE OVER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PIN FUNCTION WAS UNABLE TO RELEASE THE GEAR DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION NOT CHANGING. AS A RESULT, THE BRAKES SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. AUTOS OF DALLAS (4472 W PLANO PKWY, PLANO, TX 75093, (972) 484-9200) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V024000 (POWER TRAIN); ALTHOUGH, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME FAILURE AS THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SCHEDULED FOR A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 201,858. *BF *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JAGUAR X-TYPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PLACING THE GEAR INTO REVERSE, SHE NOTICED A KNOCKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER BUT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 37,000.
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT UPON MOVING FORWARD I HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR AND LOST MY TRANSMISSION. THIS LEFT ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION AT RUSH HOUR WITH NO WARNING FORTUNATELY NO ONE CRASHED IN TO ME. I CALLED POLICE AND TOW TRUCK. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHO HAVE REPLACED DIFFERENTIAL AND REAR AXLES. THE PRELIMINARY EXPLANATION GIVEN WAS THAT SOMETHING APPEARS TO HAVE BROKEN OFF THAT GROUND UP THE DIFFERENTIAL. AFTER COMPLETION OF REPAIR I WAS ONLY TOLD THAT THERE HAD BEEN A MALFUNCTION. VEHICLE IS 4 YEARS OLD WITH ABOUT 44000 MILE ON IT. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND THAT IF IT HAD OCCURRED AT HIGH SPEED I MIGHT NOT BE HERE TO WRITE THIS COMPLAINT. *TR THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION HAS SINCE FAILED AGAIN. 2005 JAGUAR XJR GOES INTO LIMP HOME MODE (REDUCED PERFORMANCE MODE) EVERY ONCE A WHILE AND BE ABLE TO DRIVE 10MPH MAX. CAR IN THE REAR MIGHT CRASH FOR SUDDEN LOSS OF SPEED. DEALER TRIED TO READ OBD CODE BUT NOTHING WAS DETECTED SO NO WAY TO FIX IT. THERE ARE MANY XJ OWNER EXPERIENCING SAME ISSUE. CAR WILL BE DRIVABLE AFTER RESTARTING ENGINE BUT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. *TR
