I WAS CLEANING MY DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED A HUGE PUDDLE OF OIL UNDERNEATH MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION I NOTICED A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF OIL PUDDLED UP AROUND THE OIL COOLER ASSEMBLY. OIL IS SPLASHING ALL OVER MY ENGINE COMPARTMENT INCLUDING THE EXHAUST. I'M CONCERNED OF A FIRE STARTING SO I'LL HAVE TO REPAIR IT RIGHT AWAY. THE COMPLAIN IS SIMPLY THIS: THE VEHICLE IS BARELY 4 YEARS OLD AND HAS A MAJOR PROBLEM SUCH AS THIS. IT COULD BE A VERY BIG SAFETY RISK AND HAVE READ UP AS IT SEEMS TO BE CONFINED TO THE YEAR 2014 OF SIMILAR ENGINE SIZE OR TYPE SUCH AS 3.2 OR 3.6 L V 6 ENGINES.
BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY CAR EVERY TIME I FILL UP. SHORTLY AFTER, THE CAR ACTS AS IF IT WANTS TO SHUT OFF OR IT DOES. A FEW TIMES THE MESSAGE I SAW ON THE DASHBOARD WAS "SERVICE TRANSMISSION". IF I AM DRIVING AND THERE'S NO TRAFFIC, I CAN FEEL THE HESITATION AS IF IT WANTS TO SHUT OFF. IN TRAFFIC IT'S WORSE, ESPECIALLY IF I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER A WHILE, THE CAR SEEMS TO RESOLVES THE ISSUE, HOWEVER, IT HAPPENS AGAIN WHEN I HAVE TO REFILL THE CAR.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE LOST POWER, THE MESSAGES "SERVICE PARKING BREAK" AND "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" APPEARED IN THE DASH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE EMERGENCY BREAK LIGHT BLINKED ON AND THEN OFF. THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND TO PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL, FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE GLIDE OFF THE HIGHWAY AND INTO A PARKING LOT. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, WHEN I RESTARTED IT THE MESSAGE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" APPEARED ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR INTO GEAR AND DRIVE BUT THE POWER WAS GREATLY REDUCED AND IT STAYED IN A LOWER GEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS IN JULY OF 2017, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION AND CHECK ENGINE INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER (DARCARS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF ROCKVILLE, 755 ROCKVILLE PIKE, ROCKVILLE, MD 20852), BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS APPLIED, BUT FAILED TO RESPOND AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION AND CHECK ENGINE INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,729. *TT *TR
TAKATA RECALL - CHOKES WHEN SHIFTING THROUGH GEARS WILL DRIVING. CHOKES INITIALLY UPON STARTING AND FIRST MOVING THE CAR, TENDS TO LAG.
WHEN DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEED MILES VEHICLE DOESN'T SHIFT INTO 9TH GEAR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS PUT IT INTO MANUAL AND SHOWS 8TH GEAR. MANUALLY SHIFT TO 9TH, AND TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SHIFT INTO 9TH. VEHICLE GOT GREAT GAS MILEAGE AND NOW RPM ARE HIGH SO ISN'T ABLE TO GET AS GREAT OF MILEAGE. DID THE RECALL FOR WIRING HARNESS ON TRANSMISSION AND THAT FIXED THE ERROR WITH VEHICLE GOING INTO SAFE MODE. BUT NOW THERE IS THIS ISSUE. NO RECALLS, BUT WEB SEARCHES SHOW MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS ISSUE. ## VIN PASSED ## 2014 JEEP CHAROKEE TRAILHAWK ##
AT AROUND 50,000 MILES, THE CHECK VALVE ON THE FUEL TANK FILLER TUBE MALFUNCTIONED. THIS MALFUNCTION CAUSED FUEL FILL NOZZLES AT THE GAS STATION TO AUTOMATICALLY STOP AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO FILL THE TANK. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THIS ISSUE AS A CHECK VALVE AND THE ONLY SOLUTION TO THE ISSUE WAS REPLACING THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK.
THE TRANSMISSION EXHIBITS DELAYED, ROUGH, AND SUDDEN SHIFTING. JEEP HAS CHANGED PARTS AND SOFTWARE CHARGING ME FOR SOME OF THE CHANGES. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE HEADLAMPS DID NOT PROJECT FAR ENOUGH AHEAD TO SAFELY DRIVE AT NIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,251.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO FILL THE TANK, LESS THAN 0.25 GALLONS WILL GO INTO THE TANK BEFORE THE PUMP CUTS OFF. AT FIRST WE THOUGHT THE PROBLEM MAY HAVE TO DO WITH THE PUMPS AT THE STATION. SO WE TOOK IT TO OTHER STATIONS TO HAVE THE PROBLEM CONTINUE. THERE HAS BEEN NO CHANGE TO THE SITUATION SINCE IT BEGAN. WHEN WE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND WERE TOLD A VALVE IN THE TANK HAD FAILED AND THE ENTIRE TANK WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. OTHERS WHO HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM ON LINE HAVE SAID THAT REPLACING THE TANK IS NOT A GUARANTEE OF ELIMINATING THE PROBLEM. AFTER REPLACING THE TANK, THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED.
I WAS HAVING SOME ISSUES WITH MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE IN JANUARY 2018. THE SCREEN WAS SHOWING SERVICE TRANSMISSION, SHIFT CAR TO PARK, THEN TO DESIRED GEAR. DURING THIS TIME I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF A CITY STREET UNABLE TO MOVE. THE SHIFTER WAS IN DRIVE, BUT THE VEHICLE CLEARLY WASN'T. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, IT FINALLY SHIFTED TO DRIVE, AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE FEW MILES HOME, BUT THE VEHICLE STAYED IN A LOW GEAR.THE DEALER CHECKED IT OUT AND TOLD ME I NEEDED TO PAY FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE. HAVING A TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, BUT I WAS LED TO BELIEVE THIS WOULD FIX THE ISSUE. ON APRIL 4TH, 2018 THE SAME SERVICE TRANSMISSION ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN. I WAS STUCK IN THE LEFT TURN LANE AT AN INTERSECTION, AND THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE. I SHIFTED TO DRIVE, MANUAL, NEUTRAL, AND REVERSE, AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE. THE SAME ERROR MESSAGES WERE SHOWING ON THE SCREEN AS BEFORE. I SAT THERE FOR TWENTY MINUTES UNTIL IT FINALLY WENT INTO DRIVE. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE IT TO THE DEALER THAT LOOKED AT IT THE FIRST TIME. I WAS UPSET AS WE HAD JUST PAID FOR THE ISSUE TO BE FIXED. WE WERE TOLD, "CHRYSLER SAYS WE MUST CHECK FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES FIRST." SINCE IT SHOWED UPDATES AVAILABLE, THEY ASSUMED THIS WAS THE PROBLEM AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. HAS CHRYSLER FOUND THAT THEIR SOFTWARE CAUSES TRANSMISSIONS TO BEHAVE IN THIS FASHION? IF SO, WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL? GIVEN THAT A TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION OF THIS SORT IS SUCH A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, WHY WOULD CHRYSLER NOT TAKE OUR CLAIM MORE SERIOUSLY AND ACTUALLY DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE? I BELIEVE THE NHTSA SHOULD CONSIDER STEPPING IN BECAUSE IT WON'T BE TOO MUCH LONGER BEFORE THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE LEADS TO A CONSUMER'S DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY, IF IT HASN'T ALREADY HAPPENED.
BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 31000 MILES ON IT, AT 40000 OIL COOLER STARTED LEAKING LIKE A SIEVE!!!! DEALER SAYS IT'S NOT A COVERED REPAIR! THIS APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH JEEPS.
WHEN ACCELARATING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE/VIBRATE VIOLENTLY. THE SHAKING AND VIBRATION CAN BE FELT THROUGH MOST OF THE CAR AND WILL ONLY STOP ONCE YOU HAVE STOP ACCELERATING. THE SHAKING WILL ALSO START WHEN SLOWING DOWN FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE MOST SHAKING TENDS TO BE WHEN AT 3000+ RPM
WHILE TRYING TO START THE JEEP I PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES AND PRESSED THE START/STOP BUTTON THE VEHICLE JERKED THEN MADE A LOUD NOISE FOLLOWED BY WHAT FELT LIKE SOMETHING DROPPED OUT FROM UNDERNEATH. IT THEN DIED AND THE SYMBOL OF FAULT POPPED UP ON THE SCREED. IT STATED THAT THERE WAS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. NOW THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. IT WAS SERVICED AND HAD TWO SAFETY RECALLS COMPLETED THIS MONTH
VEHICLE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES EACH TIME BEING 'REPAIRED' WITH WHAT THE MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDS AND NEVER FIXES THE PROBLEM. REOCCURS AT MAX DRIVING 100 MILES AFTER BEING FIXED. THESE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSIONS ARE NOTHING BUT SAFETY HAZARDS AND NEED TO BE TAKEN OUT OF ALL VEHICLES BEFORE MORE FATALITIES AND INJURIES OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER COULD EASILY BE FOUND GUILTY OF NEGLIGENCE, PRODUCT LIABILITY, AND RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT AS IT'S BEEN 4 YEARS WITH ABSOLUTELY NO FIXES AND PLACING BLAME ON THE DRIVERS OF THE VEHICLES.
MY DAUGHTER WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND A CAR HIT THE TRUCK BEHIND HER AND PUSHED IT INTO HER AND PUSHED HER INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF HER. SHE SEEN THE CAR COMING AND NOT STOPPING SO SHE HIT THE BRAKES HARD, SO SHE DIDN'T HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF HER HARD. THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AND SHE HIT HER HEAD AND SUSTAINED A VERY BAD CONCUSSION AND LOST THE HEARING IN HER LEFT EAR. SHE HIT HER HEAD SO HARD IT HAS A WHITE MATTER SPOT ON HER BRAIN.
THE CAR CONTINUALLY STALLS OUT WITHOUT WARNING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO OUR LOCAL DEALER TWICE AND THEY SAY THEY CAN NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. AT FIRST THEY STATED THE OIL LEVEL READ LOW. WE HAD THEM DO A COMPLETE OIL CHANGE AND ONE MONTH LATER THE SAME ISSUE. AFTER REVIEWING THE INTERNET IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT CHRYLSER DODGE JEEP JUST WANTS TO IGNORE. MOSTLY OCCURS WHEN SLOWING DOWN AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. WILL STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND THE CHECK ENGINE/BATTERY LIGHT DISPLAYS. YOU NEED TO WAIT 2-3 MINUTES AND RESTART. ALL DIAGNOSTIC TESTS REPORT NEGATIVE. FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND THAT OF THOSE ON THE ROAD WITH ME!
3.6L PENTASTAR ENGINE CRACKED OIL FILTER HOUSING. OIL FILTER HOUSING CRACKED AND BEGAN TO LEAK LARGE AMOUNTS OF OIL. CRACK OCCURRED DURING COLD WEATHER AND WAS 9 MONTHS AFTER OIL CHANGE (NOT RELATED TO OVER TOURQING OF FILTER HOUSING). 100S OF COMPLAINTS LOGGED ONLINE FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON THIS ENGINE. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. THEY REFUSE TO COVER VIA 100K POWERTRAIN WARRANTY.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTING PROBLEM AGAIN THE OUTER MODULE WAS REPLACED BECAUSE TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM WORKED WELL NOW IT'S STARTING TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN ! THE CONTACT SWITCHED TO PARK AND WAITED APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS BEFORE ENGAGING THE VEHICLE BACK IN DRIVE AND DRIVING HOME. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE IN DECEMBER OF 2017. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO O'DANIELS JEEP IN FT WAYNE, INDIANA WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 33265060. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE, JUST BOUGHT USED, SUDDENLY LOSES ALL POWER AND CONTROL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS ON A HIGHWAY , AND I WAS LUCVCKY TO AVOID COLLISIONS. ALL JEEP RECOMENDS IS CHANGING COMPUTER, WHICH FROM WHAT I READ IS NOT A CORRECT FIX. THIS VEHICLE IS IS A DANGER TO MYSELF ,FAMILY AND OTHERS. IT IS UNDER WARRENTY. BUT ACCORDING TO OTHERS THE TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY, NOT THE COMPUTER. PLEASE HELP.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ARE ERRATIC. GEARS SHIFT TOO SOON, NOT SOON ENOUGH OR BANG INTO GEAR ESPECIALLY 3RD. SOME DAYS ARE OK OTHERS ARE SIMPLY FRIGHTENING. UPDATES HAVE BEEN DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES. VEHICLE IS 4 YEARS OLD WITH 20K MILES.
THE CAR JERKS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY/LOCAL ROADS AND I HAVE REPORTED THIS MATTER TO THE CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER WHERE I TAKE IT FOR MAINTENANCE AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET ANY APPOINTMENTS. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE DECEMBER 2017 AND I REPORTED IT JANUARY 2018 WHEN I GOT IT SERVICED AT SMITHHAVEN CHRYSLER. I CALLED IN APRIL 2018 FOR APPOINTMENT AND WAS INFORMED THERE NOTHING UNTIL THE END OF MAY BUT I WAS LEAVING THE COUNTRY. CALLED AGAIN IN JUNE WHEN I RETURNED TO THE STATES AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING UNTIL AUGUST 27, I EXPLAINED TO THE SECRETARY THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AND SHE SAID "SORRY, THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO FOR YOU". SHE ALSO SAID THAT IF I DROPPED THE CAR OFF, I WOULDN'T GET THE CAR BACK FOR 2 WEEKS. I HAVE ALSO HAD A SOFTWARE UPDATE DONE AND THAT HELPED FOR ABOUT A MONTH.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER (SHEBOYGAN CHRYSLER CENTER INC, 2701 WASHINGTON AVE, SHEBOYGAN, WI 53081, (920) 459-6020) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK WAS STICKING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL TANK. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT ISSUED ANY RECALLS, BUT ISSUED THREE TSBS ON THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED NO SOLUTION OTHER THAN HAVING THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED BY A DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE COMPLETELY STALLS WHILE DRIVING WITH A MESSAGE THAT STATES "MUST BE IN P TO SHIFT GEARS". THE VEHICLE ALSO STALLS WHILE DRIVING AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK, WITH THE SAME MESSAGE. THE DEALER CANNOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. I'VE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS FOR THE EXACT SAME THING THAT DON'T SEEM TO BE GETTING ADDRESSED. FAILURE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE IS A RISK TO THOSE OWNING THE VEHICLES AS WELL AS OTHERS ON THE ROADS AND POSES A MAJOR LIABILITY TO THE COMPANY IF NOTHING IS DONE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I'M LISTING THE MOST RECENT DATE, HOWEVER THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IT'S HAPPENED.
MY JEEP CHEROKEE 2014 HAS BEEN HAVING ENGINE PROBLEMS SINCE I BOUGHT IT. LAST NIGHT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE, THATS WHY IM HERE. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE JEEP JUST STARTED TO BRAKE ON ITS OWN. I WAS SLIDING IN THE SNOW AND ALMOST FLIPED. I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE JEEP. I HAD TROUBLE PULLING IT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. HAD TO FORCE DRIVE TO THE SIDE. WOULD NOT GO ON REVERSE. WHEN THE TOWN TRUCK ARRIVED,HE HAD TROUBLE PUTTING IT ON TOW TRUCK. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT BEFORE SOMEONE DIES OVER SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN FIXED.
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS OR HIGHWAYS, THE TRANSMISSION WILL SUDDENLY DROP OUT OF OR WHILE ACCELERATING IT WILL DO A HARD JUMP INTO GEAR CAUSING A SUDDEN JERK. WHEN GOING FROM A STOP TO START IT TAKES SOMETIME FOR THE ACCELERATION TO KICK IN, PUSHING THE GAS BUT NOTHING'S HAPPENING. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH NO SOLUTION FROM THE DAY I BOUGHT IT IN 2014 TO NOW. EVERY TIME IN THE SHOP THEY SAY THIS IS JUST A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE 9 SPEED TRANS. WHEN YOUR SPENDING $30,000 OR MORE ON A VEHICLE I WANT A SOLUTION NOT AN "IT IS WHAT IT IS" ANSWER.
TRANSMISSION LURGES AND ROUGHLY SHIFTS AND MAKES WHIRRING NOISES
THE RADIO AND ALL FUNCTIONS RELATED TO THIS, INCLUDING HEAT/AC, BACK UP CAMERA, ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS, HANDS FREE CALLING, INTERMITANTLY GO OFF. SOMETIMES WHEN I START THE CAR, NEED TO WAIT 15 MINUTES OR MORE BEFORE IT STARTS. OTHER TIMES IT FAILS WHEN DRIVING. JEEP DEALER STATED THE RADIO WENT BAD AND NEEDS REPLACING. HE ALSO STATED THAT HE NEEDS TO REPLACE THESE REGULARLY
EVERY OIL CHANGE I MUST PAY FOR A FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT. I HAVE WENT THROUGH TWO SETS OF TIRES IN THE YEAR OF 2018. REAR ALIGNMENT GOES OUT OF ALIGNMENT ALL OF THE TIME. DEALER THAT I GET MY CAR OIL CHANGED AT SAYS THIS IS TOO MUCH FOR ANY CAR.
AFTER FILLING MY TANK WITH GAS I TURNED ONTO A NEARBY ROADWAY AND FELT MY CAR SPUTTERING AND JERKING. AS I CAME TO A SLOW STOP AT A STOP LIGHT MY CAR ABRUPTLY SLAMMED TO A STOP AND MADE A LOUD BANG/SLAMMING NOISE AND PROMPTED ME TO SHIFT TO PARK AND RESTART THE CAR. I FOLLOWED THESE COMMANDS AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. AS SOON AS I WOULD SHIFT OUT OF PARK THE LOUD SLAMMING WOULD OCCUR AGAIN AND I BEGAN TO SMELL FUMES SO I STOPPED TRYING TO FOLLOW THE PROMPTS. I PUT MY CAR IN NEUTRAL AND PUSHED MY CAR OUT OF THE MOVING TRAFFIC LANES AND GOT IT TOWED. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE AND GAVE IT BACK. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE 3 TIMES SINCE. THEY REPLACED AN EVAPORATION PRESSURE SWITCH THE SECOND TIME I TOOK MY CAR IN AND THIS STILL HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE. THE LAST TIME THE ISSUE OCCURRED I WAS SLOWING DOWN ON A HIGHWAY IN DENSE TRAFFIC AND AS TRAFFIC STARTED MOVING AGAIN MY GAS PEDAL STOPPED WORKING. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS I ONLY HEARD LOUD REVVING NOISES AS MY CAR COASTED.. WHEN I WENT TO PRESS THE BRAKES AND PULL OFF THE ROAD I IMMEDIATELY HEARD THE LOUD SLAMMING NOISE AND MY CAR BROKE DOWN AGAIN IN A VERY UNSAFE LOCATION ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAITED ONE HOUR AND MY CAR WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND I SLOWLY GOT IT OFF THE HIGHWAY WITH MY E-LIGHTS ON. I WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE SHOP AFTER THE NEW YEAR.. AGAIN. WORST OF ALL AFTER LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE ONLINE I SEE IT IS COMMON AMONG JEEP VEHICLES. NOT JUST THE CHEROKEE. HAPPENS AFTER I GAS UP. IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AS I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED AT HIGH SPEEDS BY OTHER CARS ON THE ROADWAY. HAS BEEN LISTED IN FORUMS AS SOMESORT OF ROLLOVER FUEL VALVE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE BEFORE MORE SERIOUS INJURIES OR EVEN DEATH OCCURS ASSUMING THAT HASN'T ALREADY HAPPENED. AT THE END OF LAST YEAR OUR 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON I-95 IN CONNECTICUT. THE REPAIR SHOP DID NOT DO A THOROUGH INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE. AT THE TIME I TOLD THEM THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THAT THERE WAS AN AIR BAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT ON. THEY DID NOT INSPECT THIS SYSTEM UNTIL I WENT TO PICK THE CAR UP AND THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I WAITED 3 DAYS FOR REPAIRS AND THEY DID NOT HAPPEN. SO I DROVE THE CAR BACK TO FLORIDA AND TOOK IT TO A JEEP DEALER HERE FOR THE REPAIRS. THEY HAVE HAD MY CAR SINCE MARCH AND STILL CANNOT GET THE REQUIRED REPAIR PARTS FROM CHRYSLER. I AM WONDERING IF THERE IS ANY WAY I CAN FORCE THEM TO COME UP WITH THE PARTS AND FIX MY VEHICLE. IN THE MEAN TIME I AM PAYING CAR PAYMENTS ON A CAR THAT I CAN'T DRIVE. AND A CAR THAT I HAD TO PURCHASE TO REPLACE THE ONE I CAN'T DRIVE. THE INSURER WILL NOT LET ME HAVE THE VEHICLE BACK DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS ABOUT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM.
"SERVICETRANSMISSION" MESSAGING PROBLEMS. JEEP SHOOK AND SHUTS OFF WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY MOVING. AT 65MPH. I STEERED IT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. RESTATED THE JEEP AND FOLLOWED THE MESSAGES INSTRUCTIONS ON MY NAVIGATION SCREEN. UPON PUTTING IT ON "D" AND GIVING THE GAS THE JEEP LUNGED FORWARD AND IT FELT LIKE SOMEONE HAD HIT ME FROM THE REAR. ONCE MOVING THE JEEP STAYED IN LOW GEARS. I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND USING THE SERVICE ROAD DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY PERFORMED A MANDATED RECALL SOFTWARE UPGRADE WHICH SEEMED TO WORK. 8 DAYS LATTER MY JEEP IS BACK IN AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THE VEHICLE SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR, LUNGES AND GOES AGAIN IN A JERKING/ HESITATING MANNER. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OVER PUT IN PARK AND RE SELECTED A GEAR. WHEN DOING SO IT MAKES A HORRIFIC GRINDING NOISE AND HAS NO POWER. THE BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE SINCE 2014 FOR A "BAD BATTERY" AFTER BOTH OF THESE REPLACEMENTS WITHIN 4 MONTHS WE HAVE NOW EXPERIENCED THESE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I STRESS THIS IS THE SECOND TIME WITH THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND ALSO THE SECOND TIME FOR THE BATTERY REPLACEMENT.

I HAD JUST LEFT THE GAS STATION WHERE I FILLED UP. WHEN IN GEAR FROM A STOP THERE WAS A LENGTHY DELAY AS THE ENGINE RPM'S RISE AND VEHICLE BARELY MOVED. AFTER 10 TO 20 SECONDS ANOTHER GEAR WILL ENGAGE AND THE VEHICLE WILL PICK UP SPEED AT WHICH POINT ANOTHER GEAR WILL VIOLENTLY SLAM INTO OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WILL SEEM TO FUNCTION NORMALLY AT THAT POINT UNTIL SLOWING DOWN WHEN THE VEHICLE SHIFTS VIOLENTLY AND ERRATICALLY, SHIFTS INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT WARNING. BY NOW ALL WARNING LIGHTS HAVE LIT UP. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, PARKING BRAKE LIGHT, "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" APPEAR ON DISPLAY AND THAT ALTERNATES WITH "SHIFT TO PARK AND THEN TO DESIRED GEAR". SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING AFTER 24 HOURS REVEALED THAT ONLY THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT WAS ON AND WHEN VEHICLE IS PUT IN "DRIVE", THERE WAS NO VIOLENT GEAR ENGAGEMENT, BUT VEHICLE BARELY MOVED. I PUT THE VEHICLE BACK IN PARK AND SHUT IT OFF.
TRAVELING AT 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY, VEHICLE PUT ITSELF IN NEUTRAL AND FLASHED THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT. I PULLED OVER PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. STARTED IT BACK UP, THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT REMAINED ON AND THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO GEAR AND DROVE NORMALLY. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE RESULT OF THE TRANSMISSION RECALL ##16V529000. AFTER THIS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO DID NOT ADVISE OF ANY RECALL, BUT UPDATED THE SOFTWARE, CHARGED ME FOR IT AND SAID IT WAS FIXED. NOW THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED AGAIN, ON THE SAME HIGHWAY AT THE SAME SPEED.
I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY IN REVERSE THEN PULLED DOWN MY ROAD IN DRIVE. GOING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH THE CAR THEN POPPED A MESSAGE SAYING 'SHIFT TO P THEM DESIRED GEAR' THE CAR WAS STILL ON BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE EVEN WHEN I DID WHAT THE MESSAGE SAID TO DO. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED I DID THE SAME THING. BUT THAT TIME THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. TOOK IT TO CHRYSLER FOR THEM TO SAY IT NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE. BUT THE CAR DID IT AGAIN TWICE AFTER THE OIL CHANGE. AND NOW TODAY MARCH 21, 2018 THE CAR DID IT 5 TIMES IN A ROW AND ONCE TWO DAYS PRIOR. EXCEPT THIS TIME EACH TIME THE CAR WAS TURNED BACK ON THE CAR WOULD TURN OVER BUT WOULD ACT LIKE IT WAS FIGHTING TO TURN ON. AS IF I WAS TURNING THE KEY TOO FAR OVER FOR TOO LONG. IT TOOK EACH TIME APPROXIMATELY 40 SECONDS TO FINALLY COME ON AND DRIVE. THE FIFTH TIME THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED THE CAR STAYED RUNNING JUST WOULD NOT ACCELERATE.
2.3L V6 POWERED JEEP WITH 9 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS HAD IMPROPER SHIFTING PROBLEMS SINCE LATE DECEMBER 2017, UP TO AND INCLUDING VEHICLE ENGINE SHUTDOWN WITH "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" NOTIFICATION ON EVIC. VEHICLE STALLED IN TRAFFIC AT BUSY INTERSECTION. ENGINE RESTART LOCKED TRANSMISSION IN "LIMP" MODE AND ALLOWED VEHICLE TO BE DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 6 MILES TO HOME. TRANSMISSION TCM HAS BEEN RE-FLASHED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST 30 DAYS WITH PROBLEMS RECURRING WITHIN 100-200 MILES. VEHICLE ENGINE SHUTOFF STALLS OCCURRING IN CITY STREET AND HIGHWAYS. VEHICLE STILL DOES SHIFT PROPERLY.
IN 2017, BOTH HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2014 GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND WENT OUT. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THEY HAD NEVER HAD THE HEADLIGHTS BURN OUT ON A JEEP THAT AGE. THEY SAID IT WOULD BE OVER $700 TO REPLACE THE BULBS. I WAS NOT ABLE TO AFFORD THIS AT THE TIME. TWO DAYS LATER, MY JEEP STALLED IN TRAFFIC AND THE ALTERNATOR STARTED BURNING WHILE DRIVING TO WORK; MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE CLOSEST AUTO MECHANIC WHERE THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED. I ALSO HAD THE HEADLAMP BULBS REPLACED. I WAS REIMBURSED BY CHRYSLER FOR THE COST OF THE ALTERNATOR FOLLOWING THE RECALL, HOWEVER, MY HEADLIGHTS HAVE ONCE AGAIN STOPPED WORKING. I WOULD APPRECIATE IF THIS CAN BE INVESTIGATED TO SEE IF THE HEADLAMP MALFUNCTION IS RELATED TO ANY OF THE OTHER RECALLS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RAINBOW CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP LLC (301 RIVER HIGHLANDS BLVD, COVINGTON, LA 70433, (985) 892-9165), BUT NO DIAGNOSTIC FAILURE CODES WERE FOUND AND THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
SINCE I PURCHASED MY USED VEHICLE I HAVE HAD A REOCCURRING ISSUE WHERE THE VEHICLE HESITATES TO ACCELERATE IN THE FIRST GEAR. RECENTLY IT HAS GOTTEN SO SEVERE THAT THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF. I'VE NOTICED THAT IT OCCURS MOST FREQUENTLY AFTER I FILL MY TANK AND AFTER PROLONGED PERIODS OF BEING STOPPED. IT HAS OCCURRED FOUR TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE SITTING IN TRAFFIC AND MOST RECENTLY WHILE WAITING AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN IT OCCURS THE VEHICLE STILL HAS POWER RUNNING THROUGH AND A NOTICES ALWAYS POPS UP SAYING "CAR MUST BE IN PARK IN ORDER TO SHIFT." IN ALL CASES I HAVE HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE THE CAR WAS ABLE TO TURN BACK ON. IN ALL CASES NO INDICATOR LIGHT APPEARED AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO GET SERVICED THEW FIRST TIME I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE BATTERY. THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT TO GET SERVICED I WAS TOLD THE EVAPORATED CANISTER AND PURGE SOLENOID HAD TO REPLACED. THE ISSUE STILL EXISTS AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS ASKED ME TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AS IS UNTIL A SERVICE LIGHT APPEARS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM CAN BE. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AS IS.
MY VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS HAD DIFFICULTY SHIFTING AND WOULD OFTEN HAVE HARD SHIFTS BETWEEN GEARS. AT 22,562 MILES I BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR THIS ISSUE, PROMPTING JEEP TO UPDATE MY VEHICLE'S SOFTWARE. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED, BUT I WAS TOLD IT WAS JUST THE PERFORMANCE OF MY 4-CYLINDER ENGINE. AT MILEAGE 58,160 WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MERGING LANES, MY VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOST ANY ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND LOST ALL POWER FUNCTIONS. I WAS ABLE TO USE THE VEHICLE'S MOMENTUM TO GET INTO THE BREAKDOWN LANE. THE VEHICLE HAD A MESSAGE ON MY DRIVER'S DASH INSTRUCTING ME TO SHIFT THE CAR TO PARK. AFTER DOING SO THE VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT START UNTIL I SHUT IT OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE.AGAIN, JEEP RE-PROGRAMMED MY COMPUTER. ONE WEEK LATER, ON 9/25/2017, THE VEHICLE HAD THE ENGINE SEIZE AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY MILEAGE 58,511. JEEP DETERMINED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS VERY LOW, EVEN THOUGH A FULL-SYNTHETIC VALVOLINE 5W20 HAD BEEN COMPLETED AT 53,335 MILES AND THE FLUID LEVELS WERE CHECKED AT THE DEALERSHIP ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED AN OIL CHANGE, INSTRUCTED ME THAT AFTER 50,000 MILES IT IS ACCEPTABLE FOR THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE MODELS TO BURN OFF 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES AND TO MONITOR THE OIL LEVELS GOING FORWARD. I MENTIONED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE OIL LEVELS HAD JUST BEEN INSPECTED AT THE DEALERSHIP ONE WEEK EARLIER, ON 9/18/2017, AND WAS TOLD THAT FLUID LEVELS WERE NORMAL. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BEEN BURNING OIL MUCH FASTER THAN THE 1 QUART PER 1,000 MILES ACCEPTABLE THRESHOLD. I WAS ASKED TO SEE IF THE NEW OIL CHANGE WOULD RESOLVE THE ISSUE, AND TO BRING MY CAR IN AT AROUND 60,000 MILES TO CHECK THE OIL LEVELS. AT 62,052 THE VEHICLE SEIZED AGAIN AND, UPON DIAGNOSIS, OIL LEVELS WERE FINE. JEEP CAN DETERMINE THE PROBLEM AND CANNOT OFFER A SOLUTION. IT HAS HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES OVER THE LAST MONTH.

MY CAR STOPPED ALLOWING ME TO PUT GAS IN IT. ONE DAY IT WAS FINE, THE NEXT TIME I TRIED TO PUT GAS IN IT, THE PUMP KEPT SHUTTING OFF, SIMILARLY TO WHEN IT'S FULL AND/OR THE PUMP IS LOW. AFTER TRYING DIFFERENT STATIONS, CARDS, ETC. I IDENTIFIED IT WAS THE CAR. I WATCHED THE GAS GO INTO THE TANK, FILL QUICKLY THEN SLOWLY DISPERSE DOWN INTO THE TANK. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND JEEP STATED THEY BELIEVED THAT THE ROLL OVER VALVE HAD MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING IT TO STICK AND THAT THE GAS TANK NEEDED REPLACEMENT. I SPECIFICALLY ASKED THE CAUSE OF THIS TYPE OF ISSUE AND THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED IT "SOMETIMES JUST HAPPENS" AND CONFIRMED MULTIPLE TIMES IT WAS "NO FORM OF MISSED MAINTENANCE" THAT IT "JUST HAPPENS". UPON FURTHER INSPECTION AND MECHANICAL REVIEW, THE TANK DOESN'T CONTAIN THE VALVE ITSELF, THE FUEL PUMP CONTAINS THE VALVE WHICH SOMEHOW JUST GOT "STUCK" IN TURN MAKING THE VEHICLE THINK IT HAD ROLLED OVER, SHUTTING OFF FLOW TO PREVENT FIRES. I HAD THE PUMP REPLACED AND THE CAR IS FUNCTIONING FINE.
AFTER HAVING THE OIL CHANGED ON MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE A LEAK DEVELOPED. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE A MECHANIC THE OIL FILTER HOUSING WAS FOUND TO BE BROKEN. I SPOKE WITH THE SHOP WHO CHANGED THE OIL, THEY STATE THEY USE A SPECIAL TOOL THAT DOES NOT ALLOW THE CAP TO BE TORQUED DOWN TO TIGHTLY AS THE OIL FILTER HOUSING BREAKAGE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH JEEP, DODGE, AND CHRYSLER PRODUCTS.
I'M NO CAR EXPERT BUT THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG AND IT CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY JEEP WITH GASOLINE IT STALLS OUT OR STOPS WORKING WHILE I'M DRIVING. IT MOSTLY JUST STALLS OUT WHEN I AM IN A LOW RPM BUT SOMETIMES WHEN I'M DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE OR TRYING TO PULL OUT IN AN INTERSECTION IT FEELS LIKE THERE IS A DISCONNECT BETWEEN THE PEDAL AND THE ENGINE. IT WILL STOP WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, WHILE I'M IN AN INTERSECTION, OR WHILE I'M DRIVING AT 60 MPH. THIS IS EXTREMELY SCARY AND I KNOW OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. THIS PRESENTS A DANGER TO THE PUBLIC, JEEP DRIVERS, AND IT DEFINITELY CONSTITUTES A RECALL. JEEP NEEDS TO FIX THIS.

MY 2014 JEEP HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIRS ON THE TRANSMISSION A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES . THE LAST TIME ON 11/18/17. THE DODGE DEALERSHIP IN TACOMA WA. REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION ALL UNDER THE SERVICE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THEY HAD THE JEEP FOR 14 DAYS . PICKED UP JEEP ON 12/02/2017 DROVE HOME ABOUT 9 MILES GOT IN THE CAR THE NEXT DAY DROVE TO THE FREEWAY ON RAMP THAT IS LESS THAN A MILE FRO MY HOME HAS I WAS TRYING TO GET ON THE FREEWAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COME ON DROVE TO THE NEXT EXIT ABOUT ONE HALF A MILE PARKED THE JEEP CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT BACK IN THE NEXT MORNING . DROVE THE CAR BACK TO MY HOUSE AFTER ABOUT FOUR HOURS WHEN IO STARTED THE CAR BACK UP THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON BUT NO SERVICE TRANSMISSION HAS I DROVE ON TO THE FREEWAY ONCE AGAIN THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION CAME ON .THIS JEEP IS A LEMON THEY HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION I AM NOT SURE WHAT ELSE THEY CAN DO FOR A POOR MAKE 9 GEAR TRANSMISSION. I AM AT MY WITTS END WITH THIS JEEP AND WOULD LIKE TO BE COMPENSATED FOR THE JEEP . THIS THING IS A DEATH TRAP PLEASE HELP THE CONSUMERS OUT THAT HAVE PAID ALOT OF MONEY FOR THESE JEEPS AND HAVE THEM TOTAL RECALLED .
