As of this date: Started about a year ago, when Jeep was over 150,000 miles. When accelerating to turn or from a stop sign or light, vehicle would stall, mimicking the feeling the vehicle ran out of gas. This occurred about once a month. Working at home and not driving my vehicle as much its hard to say if it would have occurred more often. Checked for any codes, none appeared. As I have recently started driving back in the office 3 days a week, the issue of stalling at any given time with no warning began occurring more often. Took it to trusted local service shop, they changed the purge valve pump and gas cap, as they were puzzled on the problem. Did not seem to matter if gas was full, half or under half. The issue occurred twice within 2 weeks. Service shop recommended taking to dealership. Jeep dealership are not aware of any similar issues. Which I found interesting as I researched and found massive posts from various jeep forums as well as this one. They capped off hose to charcoal canister, hoping that would help. And told me its a process of elimination at this point. The next evening it stalled again. I have now parked my vehicle as this has become a safety hazard. Stalling anywhere at any given moment could cause a tragic accident. will be contacting dealership to voice my concern. Hoping for a positive resolution.
There is a water intrusion on the vehicle that causes water to find its way to the electronic parking/emergency brake Module and causing it to corrode. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they have confirmed this. The safety of myself or other motorists on the road may be at risk if the vehicle gets a reading from the corroded module and sets the parking brake while the vehicle is in motion. I had a service parking brake light appear but the code reads as the parking brake switch needs to be replaced replaced the switch at the front and that did not remedy the issue.

My climate control module (part number 68103284AJ which is now discontinued by mopar) went out, this was caused by simply changing the battery, since I had a dead battery. Here is the fun part, now I do not have ac/heat. It does not turn on. Which is very hazardous if it’s snowing or any type of cold weather since there is no way to defrost the windshield. I live in Colorado, so I haven’t been able to drive my car in any sort of cold weather. Also, I cannot pass an emissions test because of this module being out- I have documentation. Passing an emissions test is required by the state of Colorado in order to register my vehicle. So I cannot register my vehicle and I cannot legally drive my car on the roads of Colorado until I register, so I this point my Jeep is potentially worthless. I have brought my Jeep in several times to get this fixed (dealer only fix - thanks jeep) and they stated that a used part will not work in this situation because every module is tied to a vin number, so it has to be a new part. This is absolutely ridiculous from mopar’s (Jeep) end. Considering they discontinued the part on a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. I have contacted mopar (Jeep) several times, calls and email. I have documentation. They were absolutely horrible to deal with in this situation. I stated the situation, put it in writing in emails and they returned to call and email me back weeks later to confirm that the part was discontinued - which I told them on the first call. And when I would call to check in on the situation they said they were escalating it and never got back to me. Then I emailed again, and they closed the case number. Please help! I cannot drive my car and I cannot even sell it/or trade in, no one is going to buy a car without heat in Colorado. I will provide all documentation that I have of the situation.

An unwanted activation of the emergency brake. When the car is parked or turned off and after turning on the vehicle - the service park brake turns on. After some time, the vehicle stalled and had to be towed to the dealership. Issues appear to be linked to a water leak within the vehicle’s engine block short-circuiting the electronic brake module. The leak damages the electronic brake module, and when the driver attempts to start the vehicle or shift into drive, it permanently shorts out. The vehicle is unable to move.
At TD bank leaving ATM parking brake engaged and would not disengage until i started and restarted the Jeep and keep going drive to reverse. Took about 20xs! That evening leaving yard after about 20 feet keep locked up, parking brake engaged, again. Took about 15mins to get it to disengage by starting and restarting, drive, n, reverse. Next morning it locked as soon as I hit the gas, and was left at house as it sat. I live off a highway, I'm going to die driving it.
Check engine light keeps coming on, then I loose power.
As i was driving at Garden State Parkway in New Jersey at 65 mph, a flashing engine yellow light indicated: “Service transmission”, the car decelerated down to 30 mph, and a few miles after, another yellow light indicated: “transmission fluid overheating”. And the vehicle just stopped and did not move, and i did not even have a chance to bring it to a shop for inspection. The vehicle was towed to my home, which is for me not right. The mileage at this time is only 118,000 miles. NOTE: on July 28, 2019 while traveling to NJ ftom Washington DC at I-95, the vehicle just decelerated which was scary. Fortunately, I made it home, since the vehicle just came back to it’s normal performance. I have to bring the vehicle to my dealer since I still had the extended warranty on it. That time, the mileage was approximately below 70,000 miles. Between 70,000 miles and 118,000 miles, there were (3) different occasions when the vehicle did not move back (Rear) from Park (P) position. I ignored these issues since it just came back as drivable again after shutting off the engine after a few minutes.
While driving the vehicle in the highway, the transmission abruptly stopped responding, the power was lost and the transmission shifted into neutral. The dashboard showed the message " To shift Vehicle must be Stopped". Then the message change into "Shift to P then desired gear". This incident happened several times and Chrysler admitted the problem only on some models of their vehicles but not in cherokees 2014.

The contact stated that the tailgate had failed to open after several attempts with a burning wire odor entering the cabin of the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I'm the owner of a 2014 Jeep Cherokee which I have recently taken in to be serviced due to a service light for the all wheel drive. The service representative did a great job outlining the issues resulting in a repair totaling $3,539.99 The diagnosis was that the powertrain on this vehicle has failed, and I have even noticed on the NHTSA website that out of 2,123 complaints on this vehicle, 1,224 (57%) are related to the failure of the powertrain on this model. 2014 Jeep Recalls associated with PTU: Safety Recall W48 / NHTSA 20E-037 Safety Recall W47 / NHTSA 20V-343 The two recalls were meant to circumvent the real issue of the recall. At the time of the recall if PTU's had not failed, they just replaced the splines to continue to function in the event of a PTU failure. If the PTU had failed, it was replaced. The issue with my vehicle, is that Jeep claims that the recalls are not applicable to my vehicle, as they were not a part of the recall, despite the track record of failed PTU's and the fact that jeep was replacing PTU's for 2014 Jeeps (just not mine). Regardless, the core issue was never addressed, which was the failure of the PTU (Power Train Unit). This issue was finally acknowledged in the 2015/2016 Jeep Cherokee (Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-302), however was never fully resolved with the 2014 jeep Cherokee. Now Jeep is not willing to acknowledge or take responsibility for this $3,539.99 repair order for something that is clearly a manufacturer defect.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH exiting his driveway, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and park the vehicle back in his driveway. The contact stated that when he turned the vehicle off, the vehicle did restart but would not remain running. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed with a failed battery and a failed alternator. The contact was informed that the battery and the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The dealer informed the contact that the electrical wiring harness was the cause of the failure. The contact was informed that the electrical wiring harness needed to be replaced. The contact stated that he purchased the parts for the electrical wiring harness replacement. The contact stated that the dealer then informed him that the electrical wiring harness was not the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
replaced the oil filter housing unit and filter cap because of oil leak, for the last couple of months, it’s been feeling very rough switching gears, especially when turning from a stop, and now it won’t start, at all. We tried jumping it and let it sit for a little bit and nothing changed. It’s not ticking or trying to start or anything, just the dash lights up with all the lights and the brake pedal is locked, it won’t move at all

The vehicle turns off while running, all lights on dashboard turn OFF and the vehicle dies completely. I lose power steering, brakes everything just turns off. After the vehicle comes to a complete stop I can put in parking again and the vehicle turns back on. This has happened 3 times already, luckily I have been driving it where there is no a lot of traffic, but no longer drive it on the highway it would not be safe. It happened after the light SVC 4WD turned on.

The transmission since buying it at only 16000 miles has been nothing but a problem. Every recall to reprogram the tcm has not worked. It hard shifts all the time, shudders and jerks when going slow, and twice it has locked down and forced trans into neutral. Has to be towed and reprogrammed so not just unsafe but costs money to fix a problem it shouldn't have. I live in the mountains it could easily shut down where there is no pulloff as it once did right before a corner. There is so many complaints online and so many not working recalls when will someone do something about this problem. This is the most expensive vehicle I ever bought and it is a nightmare. So much so I will never buy a jeep product again and I owned 5 older ones before this. Make jeep replace or do a real fix please. Thousands of people need this fixed or it will turn in to a massive lawsuit.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the electronic parking brake independently activated. The contact stated that the parking brake seized, and the vehicle became undriveable. The electronic parking brake and parking warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Engine stalls after filling tank. I’m not over filling it I stop at the first click and don’t put in a drop more. My engine will still stall and most times my car will completely shut off when I come to a stop.
There is 3 things going on with this Jeep. First thing the service shifter is on. Second the power steering will go out and come back on at different times. Lastly if you shut the car off it may not start again for awhile and you will get a message on the dash that says engine to warm to start. I contacted Jeep they said to take it in. We aren’t in a position to just Let them keep running diagnostics on our car we have a code reader and it is not throwing any codes. Our Jeep started acting up after they did the one recall On it.
My Jeep Cherokee has been diagnosed by a mechanic having issues with the PTU (Power Transfer Unit) , code C14A7-97. If the PTU fails to engage with the transmission, the Cherokee could lose all power while being driven. Mopar does have a recall for SOME Jeep Cherokees experiencing this issue, but my VIN was not identified as part of this recall. The recall should be for all vehicles that were made in this same time frame and are known to have issues. The Jeep has had all of the software updates done to it but still has problem. Mopar should be responsible for this repair as they are repairing other vehicles with the same problem.
1st Repair Attempt: On April 2, 2021, 14 days after I purchased the vehicle (Purchase date: 3/18/2021), I received multiple error messages stating "Service Electronic Parking Break" "Service Anti Lock Breaking System" "Service Park Brake" "MIL" light was blinking "CEL" light was on as well and my vehicle would not accelerate. I was on a high traffic interstate and could not move the vehicle to exit to the shoulder. The dealer stated that my PCM/TCM needed to be "flashed" and my ABS Module needed to be replaced due to a CSN W20, W84 and W80 code. The part to replace the ABS Module was not in stock and my vehicle remained with the dealership until April 16, 2021 (a total of 15 days) 2nd Repair Attempt: On May 21, 2021, 35 days after the repair attempt, for the 2nd time I received multiple error messages stating "Service Electronic Parking Break" "Service Anti Lock Breaking System" "Service Park Brake" "MIL" light was blinking "CEL" light was on as well and my vehicle would not accelerate. My children were in the car when this happened. The dealer once again, for the 2nd time, had to order an ABS Module as well as reprogrammed according to all manufacturer recommendations (PCM/TCM/DTCM, etc) and my vehicle remained at the dealership until June 1, 2021 (a total of 12 days) 3rd Repair Attempt: On October 6, 2022, for the 3rd time I received multiple error messages stating "Service Electronic Parking Break" "Service Anti Lock Breaking System" "Service Park Brake" "MIL" light was blinking "CEL" light was on as well and my vehicle would not accelerate. I was in the middle of a busy interstate when this happened. my vehicle remained at the manufacturer approved dealership in repair until October 27, 2022 ( a total of 21 days) All receipts, invoices and services completed to attempt repair are documented and can be provided upon request. Most recently, August 10, 2023, all of the same error messages and issues above are occurring and I am unable to move my vehicle.
The emergency park brake function is stuck on and can not be released. The car will not move and the emergency brake will not release.
My e brake goes on and off by itself. And while I'm driving, now the car won't start. Mechanic said it was the starter so I paid for one still didn't start. Now he said it's the engine. Car still won't start.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, an alert sounded, indicating that the 4WD was unavailable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the power transfer unit pump. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, who confirmed the diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20E037000 (Power Train) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 123,000.
Due to the Safety Recall 49A - I am told that I am to leave my vehicle parked nowhere near buildings or other vehicles as there is a fire safety concern with vehicles catching fire whether or not the ignition is on. I called the Mopar line, and was not that it was not urgent and to take it to my Jeep dealership to have it examined to determine if I needed a rental - even though the recall states that it's to be parked due to a FIRE SAFETY concern. The dealership says they were never given information on what was needing fixed so they wouldn't know what to look for - I call Mopar back. They said they didn't know why I was told to go to the dealership and that if the recall doesn't state they'll offer a rental, then they won't offer a rental. But I can pay out of pocket for a rental and MAYBE get reimbursed by them for it, if they deemed it necessary. I have ONE vehicle, and I'm a single mother that drives her child to school. Explain to me how I'm to do that if they want me to PARK it? Not to mention, the Mopar CS refused to tell me it was safe to drive because she "couldn't say that." So, I'm suppose to drive a vehicle that can catch on fire without even being on when it's my only means to drive my child to school or get groceries - and they can't tell me it's safe to drive BUT refuse to offer a rental because it's fine? How is this fine? This is a safety concern (as the recall states) and a serious liability with a possible lawsuit waiting. It's been recalled since May, it is now August, and they have no idea when it may be fixed - three months have already passed without a fix, and they think it's fine to drive while stating not to drive it. What am I supposed to drive? I can barely buy groceries, I have no credit cards to rent a vehicle. I'm literally terrified every time I drive my daughter anywhere because we could die. But Mopar tells me it isn't urgent and I don't need a rental - when the recall, and them, say otherwise while stating it's fine. Deathtrap.
Well maintained vehicle that has the 4wd warning light activate. Diagnostic code states Power Transfer Unit PTU error - not safe to drive. I have researched 2014 Jeep issues and there are a LOT of reported problems - many related to this same issue. This seems unacceptable to me and the cost of repair or worse another car is cost prohibitive. In this day and age cars should certainly last over 10 years and well over 100,000 miles. Thank you

Recall 49A/NHTSA 23V-338. It has been over six months since I received this recall and there is no repair/fix available yet. WHEN WILL THIS BE CORRECTED???? Parking my car outside in this COLD weather is not good for the car or me. When will this be remedied????
The Emergency Parking Brake engages on its own, and the car can not move forward. The car engine fails and stalls, the vehicle can not be shifted, and I have a loss of steering control. Dash reads error of parking brake needs service, power steering is out, and check engine light comes on. The car won't restart for approximately 1 hour and then turns over and starts. This problem happens intermittently with no warning. It has happened both when parked and moving. I have had the vehicle in at a Jeep dealership but they were unable to diagnosis. It appears to be part of the same case number
There is water filling up in my spare tire area and it’s damaged the epb module which has caused the brakes to lock up a few times. Also it is affecting my cruise control, lane assist, forward collision. And my 4wd module is getting wet and has set it off a few times
Car has broken down multiple times. Most recent issue: 1car stalled while trying to make a left turn on highway, would not drive forward -dashboard sign said to put car in park -when trying to put it in drive it went into neutral and rolled back -car would not turn off, kept running when we tried to turn it on and off -“battery voltage low”warning signal came on -engine warning signal came on -got it to drive again after a few minutes and parked the car -tried driving it home, same thing happened all over again when were at a light after about 5 minutes -went to parking lot, hood of car was burning hot

My 2014 Jeep Cherokee is impacted by the 49A Safety Recall for Power Liftgate Module, for which there is no remedy. I've been advised by Jeep's recall not to park inside, or park near a structure, or park near other vehicles as the vehicle can catch on fire, whether driving it or not. These requirements make my vehicle useless. I have called Jeep and was told I also cannot trade it in during a recall. I asked about compensation, or their providing transportation until a remedy is available, and was told that's not possible. This Jeep is obviously not safe and Jeep is not providing any solutions.
The emergency park brake engages by itself when the vehicle starts and it does not want to disengage. The system is engaging on it's own.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at approximately 50–60 MPH, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. While driving 75 MPH and decelerating to 55 MPH, there was a thumping sound detected, and the vehicle started shuddering. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified about the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000. The VIN was not available.

Water ingress into electronic parking brake module caused brake to lock and render vehicle immobile. Also caused battery drain and electrical issues due to shorting out.
