WAS DRIVING ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY AND THE JEEP LOST POWER, I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND WHEN I REACHED A COMPLETE STOP THE JEEP SHUTOFF. I COULD NOT GET IT THE RESTART. AFTER WAITING 10 MINUTES I FINALLY GOT THE JEEP RESTARTED. WHEN IT STARTED IT RELEASED A HUGE CLOUD OF WHITE SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST PIPES. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. *TR
BOUGHT A 14/JEEP/CHEROKEE SPORT FWD AND STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT A WEEK AND A HALF TO TWO WEEKS AFTER GETTING IT. ON 5/30/14--HEARD CLICKING SOUND FROM TRANSMISSION AREA OF VEHICLE BETWEEN 30 TO 45 MPH. ALSO, IT WOULD SHIFT HARD WHILE ACCELERATING AND WHEN DOWN SHIFTING TO STOP. HAPPENED APROX 20-30 TIMES BEFORE TAKING IT TO SERVICE SHOP. TECH TOLD US THE TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING, HAD NO OIL. REPLACED WHOLE TRANSMISSION THEY HAD THE CAR FOR A WEEK. RECEIVED VEHICLE BACK ON 6/7/14. YOU SHOULD KNOW I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ON 5/14/14 AND IT HAD LESS THAN 1500 MILES. THOUGHT I WAS BUYING A GOOD VEHICLE, GUESS I WAS WRONG, AGAIN!!! 6/21/14--HAD MY CAR BACK FOR ONLY A WEEK, STARTED HEARING A GRINDING SOUND IN THE FRONT END, THOUGHT IT WAS MY BRAKES OR ROTORS. WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON 6/21/14 AT 1:00 AM, I HEARD A LOUD BANG, THEN A CLANKING SOUND; CAR STALLED, PRESSED ON GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT GO, COASTED INTO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT. PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND IT TURNED OFF, LET SIT FOR 10-15 MINUTES. MY MOM CAME AND PICKED ME UP, I STARTED CAR FOR HER AND WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE, WOULD NOT MOVE AND ONLY HEARD CLANKING AND A BANG SOUND. LEFT CAR IN PARKING LOT UNTIL MORNING THEN HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPT TO BE CHECKED OUT. OF COURSE THIS HAPPENED ON A SUNDAY SO WILL NOT KNOW ANYTHING UNTIL MONDAY. NOT HAPPY WITH THIS CAR. GOING BACK TO WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND GOING TO ASK THEM TO TAKE IT BACK AND TO REFUND ME EVERYTHING I PUT INTO IT THUS FAR. NOT HAPPY!! :-(

NOTICED SMEARING ON WINDSHIELD ON TEST DRIVE, WAS TOLD IT WAS FOG ON INSIDE AN SURE IS NOT, CAR IN SERVICE AFTER RAIN STORM AN I WAS BLINDED BY ON CAR BECAUSE HARD TO SEE. AFTER SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THIS SOLVED IT SEEMS THAT ALL JEEPS DO THIS ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER, WOW THAT'S ONE BIG SAFETY PROBLEM, I TRIED TO GET THEM TO DO SEVERAL THINGS, ! CHANGE WIPER BLADES FINALLY THEY DID, 2 CHANGE WIPER FLUID, THEY JUST ADDED MORE TO IT. 3 I ASKED CHANGE WINDSHIELD THEY WONT UNLESS APPROVED BY CHRYSLER . ITS THE OLE RUN AROUND. *TR
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW CHEROKEE, FOLLOWED THE ENGINE/DRIVE TRAIN BREAK IN PROCEDURE AS CLOSELY AS I COULD, BUT STARTED EXPERIENCING A SIDE TO SIDE SHIMMY IN THE FRONT END OF MY VEHICLE VERY SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE. THE SHIMMY HAPPENS DURING ACCELERATION FROM A STOP AND SEEMS TO DISAPPEAR AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE SHIFTS INTO 3RD GEAR. TYPICALLY I FEEL IT IN THE GAS PEDAL AND THE STEERING WHEEL, HOWEVER IT VARIES IN INTENSITY FROM STOP TO STOP. SOMETIMES IT IS GONE AND SOMETIMES IT IS ENOUGH TO SHAKE THE WHOLE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INTO THE SHOP 3 TIMES NOW AND EACH TIME WAS TOLD THERE IS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM AND AS FAR AS I CAN TELL WAS NOT EVEN ADDRESSED. *TR
VEHICLE WOBBLES/SHAKES/VIBRATES UPON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP - NOW IS DOING IT INTERMITTENTLY AT OTHER SPEEDS - FIRST REPAIR ON 7/22/14 "INSTALL SOP FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLIES & DRIVE 300 MILES TO COMPLETELY BREAK IN A HALF SHAFT" - AFTER THE 300 MILES AND NO CHANGE TO THE PROBLEM - SECOND REPAIR 8/18/14 "INSTALL SOP REAR MOTOR MOUNT, ALIGN ENGINE WITH 2 OTHER SIDE MOUNTS - DRIVING IT OFF THE LOT AFTER THIS REPAIR DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM - AT THIS TIME CHRYSLER HAS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM - I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE RECEIVED NO SUBSTANTIVE INFORMATION THAT IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE - AS A MATTER OF FACT I'M HAVING TROUBLE GETTING AN UPDATE FROM CHRYSLER OTHER THAN THEY NO THERE IS A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE WORKING ON IT.
FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SELECTION SYSTEM WAS TOTALLY INOPERATIVE. NINE SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT INTO 9TH GEAR AUTOMATICALLY. IN MANUAL SHIFT MODE 9TH GEAR IS SELECTED AND TACH DOES NOT DROP TO INDICATE HIGHER GEAR RATIO. SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED BUT STILL SAME PROBLEM - #RRT14-040 - WAS FLASHED TWICE BUT NO DIFFERENCE. CODE READER SHOWS SAME PROBLEM EVEN WHEN UPDATE WAS COMPLETED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE ERRONEOUSLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED ERRATICALLY WHILE SHIFTING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V293000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150.
TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SHIFT WHILE PLACING VEHICLE IN REVERSE TO PARK IT. AFTER FEW ATTEMPTS INCLUDING SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF VEHICLE MADE A LOUD SOUND AN ABRUPT MOVEMENT TO THE REAR. *TR
WE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE (P14/NHTSA 14V-154) FROM CHRYSLER SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH OUR DEALER FOR NECESSARY REPAIRS. THE DEALER INFORMS US THAT SPARE PARTS ARRIVE SPORADICALLY AND IN SMALL QUANTITIES. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH CHRYSLER'S RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER ABOUT THEIR TEPID RESPONSE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE AND THEIR NEED TO DRAMATICALLY INCREASE ALLOCATIONS WITH APPROACHING COLD WEATHER. THEIR REPRESENTATIVE WOULD PROVIDE NO ASSURANCES THAT PRODUCTION WOULD BE INCREASED TO MEET DEMAND. I AM ROUGHLY #210 ON THE LIST FOR REPAIRS AT MY DEALERSHIP. ACCORDINGLY I AM REGISTERING A COMPLAINT ABOUT CHRYSLER'S POOR RESPONSE TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE WAS RUNNING ROUGH. PROBLEM WENT AWAY BUT LIGHT REMAINED ON. CALLED DEALER AND WE AGREED TO DRIVE IT TO SEE IF IT ACTED UP AGAIN. LIGHT WENT OUT TWO DAYS LATER. AT 734 MILES I WAS TURNING A CORNER AND VEHICLE ACTED LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL. LATER THAT DAY TURNED ANOTHER CORNER AND VEHICLE STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TOOK ABOUT 5 MINUTES TO GET IT RESTARTED. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY FOUND THE ENGINE THREE QUARTS LOW ON OIL. FLUSHED ENGINE AND CHANGED OIL AND FILTER. AT 1522 MILES VEHICLE STALLED AFTER TURNING CORNER IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. HAD TO PUSH VEHICLE OFF OF BRIDGE AND OUT OF TRAFFIC. GOT IT STARTED AND TOOK STRAIGHT TO DEALER. ENGINE WAS THREE QUARTS LOW ON OIL AGAIN. ENGINE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. IF VEHICLE STALLS ON HIGHWAY OR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC SOMEBODY COULD BE INJURED OR WORSE. I UNDERSTAND ABOUT BAD PARTS BEING A CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN. BUT IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
ERRATIC SHIFTING, BOTH UPSHIFTING AND DOWNSHIFTING. CAUSES CAR TO JERK FORWARD WHEN DOWN AND UP SHIFTING. CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOPPED THEN LUNGED FORWARD CAUSING ME TO BUMP INTO ANOTHER CAR. THE CAR DOWN SHIFTED THEN FELT LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL THEN JUMPED INTO GEAR AGAIN AND JUMPED FORWARD. THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 4000 MILES ON IT NOW AND HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TWICE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE SINCE WE HAD IT, BUT THE ISSUE STILL EXIST. I AM DEEPLY WORRIED ABOUT THIS SINCE MY WIFE IS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AT TIMES NOW. IT'S NOT CLEAR WHAT CHRYSLER WAS THINKING WHEN THEY RELEASED VEHICLES WITH FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS. NOT ONLY IS THIS A SAFETY ISSUE, THIS PROBLEM ALSO DEVALUES THE CAR. WHO WOULD WANT TO PURCHASE OR ACCEPT THIS CAR AS A TRADE-IN WITH A KNOWN TRANSMISSION PROBLEM? *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY STALLED MORE THAN FIVE TIMES AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER EACH TIME FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIR. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND VARIOUS SENSORS, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RANDOMLY PROGRESS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REPAIR SOLUTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REPAIR REMEDY TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 25 NORTH OF DENVER, CO. IT HAD RAINED ABOUT 20 MINUTES BEFORE BUT WAS CLEAR AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. I HAD THE FABRIC VISOR OPEN TO THE MIDSECTION OF THE DUAL PANE PANORAMIC SUNROOF. THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED. I PASSED UNDER ANOTHER HIGHWAY AND HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT AND THE GLASS FROM THE SUNROOF EXPLODED ALL OVER ME. I WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN CONTROL AND PULLED ONTO THE SHOULDER. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANYTHING HITTING THE GLASS OR THE CAR. LAW ENFORCEMENT WERE CALLED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY REASON FOR THE GLASS TO SHATTER. *TR
5/8/14 - TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. ERROR MESSAGES APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AS THE ACCELERATOR LOST ALL POWER CAUSING ME TO FORCE THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. MULTIPLE MORE ERROR MESSAGES APPEARED TO SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION. RPMS HAD BEEN RUNNING HIGH FOR A FEW WEEKS. GEARS WERE NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP. IT WAS KEPT FOR OVER 2 WEEKS FOR REPAIRS. I WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS FIXED. 6/9/14 - SAME EXACT SCENARIO OCCURRED AGAIN. THIS TIME, THE CAR BROUGHT ITSELF TO A HALT. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD IN TIME. WHEN TRYING TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE YOU COULD FEEL THE CAR SHUTTER. RPMS REMAINED EXTREMELY HIGH. CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ADDITIONAL INSPECTION REPAIRS. NO UPDATES. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS JEEP AT CROWN CHRYSLER JEEP IN CHATTANOOGA, TN. MY TRANSMISSION KEEPS HAVING PROBLEMS. THE CAR SHAKES ROUGHLY WHEN SHIFTING. I BROUGHT THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ASK FOR ADVICE. THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS NOT FIX FOR THE PROBLEM.YET, JEEP CONTINUES SELLING THE CAR TO CUSTOMERS. I HAVE CONTACTED FIAT/JEEP/CHRYSLER AND THEY SEEM NOT TO CARE ON THE PROBLEM AND CONTINUE SAYING THEY ARE WORKING TO FIX PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP, FORCE THIS PEOPLE TO MAKE IT RIGHT.

MULTIPLE CALLS TO DEALER HAVE YIELDED NO RESULTS. I AM TOLD REPEATEDLY THAT I AM ON LIST AND THEY WILL CALL WHEN THE PARTS COME IN. RECEIVED 2ND RECALL NOTICE FOR SAME RECALL: P14/NHTSA 14V-154 AUGUST 12, 2014. AGAIN I CALLED THE DEALER WITH NO RESULTS. I AM CONTINUALLY TOLD I AM ON LIST AND THEY WILL BE IN TOUCH. *TR
WHEN STARTING OUT FROM 1-2, AND 2-3 GEARS, ABOUT 75% OF THE TIME ONE OF TWO THINGS HAPPENS.. 1, JERKY AND HARD SHIFTING OR 2, DOES NOT GET GAS TO THE ENGINE UNTIL I FLOOR IT THEN IT JERKS VERY HARD. EVERY TIME I TOOK IT IN, I ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT IT. THEY CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM BUT A TRANSMISSION UPDATE DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. STILL HAPPENING AT 11,000 MILES. JERKS MY NECK, AND WORRIED ABOUT GETTING REAR ENDED.
WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE SHIFTING OF THE TRANSMISSION SINCE WE LEASED THE VEHICLE. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS WHEN YOU ARE AT A STOP AND GO TO ACCELERATE - IT CAN TAKE A SECOND OR SO DELAY AND THEN IT WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN ENGAGE WITH A JERK. HAVE HAD IT IN SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION - THE MOST RECENT BEING A LIST OF "UPDATES" ON 3/26/17 - STILL HAVE ISSUES. LOVE THE VEHICLE AND WOULD PURCHASE IT AT THE END OF OUR LEASE IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE. DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY THE $395 END OF LEASE "DISPOSAL" FEE SINCE I WOULD BE PURCHASING IT IF IT DIDN'T HAVE THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TEMPERATURE STARTED TO GO DOWN AFTER REACHING THE PEAK OF THE HILL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN UP AN INCLINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTING PROBLEMS CAUSING HESITATION AND/OR FORWARD LURCHING, HIGH ENGINE REVVING, FRONT END WHEEL HOP. ALL WARRANT A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE 13 TIMES OVER THE LAST 14 MONTHS AND HAS STILL NOT BEEN REPAIRED. SEVERAL STAR CASES OPENED WITH NO RESOLUTION. ALL CONCERNS CONFIRMED BY TECHNICIAN TEST DRIVE ON 6 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND HAS CURRENTLY BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR FIVE DAYS.
2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS PROBLEM. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS DID NOT PROPERLY ILLUMINATE THE ROAD. I DRIVE A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH STANDARD CRUISE CONTROL WHICH THEY REFER TO AS ELECTRONIC SPEED CONTROL OR ESC. THE CAR MANUAL STATES THAT ONCE THE CRUISING SPEED IS SET, IT CAN BE REDUCED IN 1 MPH INCREMENTS BY PRESSING THE "SET -" BUTTON. IT DOESN'T INDICATE THAT PRESSING THAT BUTTON COULD RESULT IN MORE RAPID DECELERATION OF THE VEHICLE OR THAT IT MIGHT ACTUALLY CAUSE THE SYSTEM TO APPLY THE BRAKES. ON OTHER VEHICLES I'VE OWNED, PRESSING AND HOLDING THE "SET -" BUTTON SIMPLY CAUSE THE ENGINE TO BACK DOWN AND THE VEHICLE ESSENTIALLY COASTS UNTIL THE BUTTON IS RELEASED AT A NEW, LOWER SET CRUISING SPEED. HOWEVER, ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS WHILE USING ESC I HAVE HELD THE "SET -" DOWN HOPING TO DECREASE SPEED BY A FEW MILES AN HOUR. WHAT HAS ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN THOSE INSTANCES IS THAT AFTER A SECOND OR SO, THE VEHICLE BEGINS RAPIDLY DECELERATING AND IT APPEARS THE BRAKES ARE ACTIVATED BY THE SYSTEM. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, THAT COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS OUTCOME IF THE DRIVER DOESN'T KNOW IT'S COMING AND THERE IS OTHER TRAFFIC FOLLOWING BEHIND. I'M FORTUNATE THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC FOLLOWING ME ON THE OCCASIONS ON WHICH THIS OCCURRED. I WENT BACK AND REREAD THE MANUAL ON THE USE OF ESC AND SAW NO REFERENCE TO RAPID DECELERATION OR BRAKE APPLICATIONS IN THIS SCENARIO. I THEN E-MAILED CHRYSLER ABOUT IT, AND FINALLY RECEIVED A RESPONSE TELLING ME THAT WHEN USING THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ("ACC") SYSTEM, HLDING DOWN THE "SET -" BUTTON WILL RESULT IN DECELERATION IN INCREMENTS OF 5 MPH, THOUGH IT DOESN'T REFER TO APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES BY THE SYSTEM. HOWEVER, I DON'T USE THE ACC SYSTEM WHICH IS ACTIVATED BY A SEPARATE BUTTON. EITHER I HAVE A MALFUNCTION OF THE ESC SYSTEM OR CHRYSLER HAS FAILED TO DISCLOSE A VERY IMPORTANT PIECE OF SAFETY INFORMATION AS TO THE FUNCTION OF THE ESC FEATURE IN THE MANUAL, AND I'M LUCKY IT DIDN'T GET ME INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
WHEN STARTING FROM A COLD START THE ENGINE AND/OR TRANSMISSION JERKS MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE FIRST MINUTE DURING DRIVING. AFTER THE FIRST STOP, THE CAR SETTLES DOWN AND DOES NOT SEEM TO DO IT AGAIN. *TR
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR A BRAKE BOOSTER IN MAY OF THIS YEAR. I CONTACT MY DEALER AT CHAMPION DODGE, 9655 FIRESTONE BLVD, DOWNEY, CA 90241, (562) 231-3500 AND WAS TOLD THAT I SHOULD CALL BACK AT THE END OF JUNE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY BRAKE BOOSTER IN. IT WAS STATED THAT JEEP WAS SLOW IN SENDING OUT THE PARTS AND SO THEY DIDN'T HAVE A TIME FRAME AS TO WHEN THEY WOULD GET THE PART. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT NO OTHER DEALER WOULD HAVE THE PART BECAUSE IT WAS THE SAME SITUATION FOR ALL DEALERS. AT THE END OF JUNE I CONTACTED THE COMPANY AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE MY CAR BROUGHT IN FIRST. THIS WAS NOT TOLD TO ME ORIGINALLY AND SO MORE TIME WAS WASTED AS I NEEDED TO TAKE THE CAR IN FOR THEM TO DETERMINE THAT IT WAS IN FACT THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I TOOK MY CAR IN THAT WEEK AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND MY NAME WOULD BE PUT ON A LIST. IN JULY I CALLED AND ASKED ABOUT THE BRAKE BOOSTER SHIPMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD A LONG LIST AND DIDN'T SEE MY NAME ON THE LIST. SO NOW I AM STILL WAITING. I RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE NOW FOR THE SUN VISOR VANITY LAMP. SINCE HAVING THIS CAR I HAVE RECEIVED 3 RECALLS WHICH I HAVE NEVER HAD BEFORE WITH ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. I WILL NOT BE BUYING A JEEP AGAIN. PLEASE ASSIST ME IN EITHER CANCELING OUT THIS LEASE OR HAVING THESE RECALLS FIXED. MAIN ISSUE IS WITH THE NINE SPEED TRANSMISSION ON OUR 2014 CHEROKEE. WE HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THIS TRANSMISSION FROM THE DAY W BOUGHT CAR. INITIALLY THERE WERE THE BUMPS, BANGS, KNOCKS AND HARD ERRATIC SHIFTING BOTH UP AND DOWN SHIFTING. NOW WITH 20,000+ MILES, AND MANY-MANY TRIPS TO DEALER WE ARE STILL HAVING TO DEAL WITH A SITUATION IN WHICH THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN "FLASHED" TO REMOVE SECOND GEAR ON DOWNSHIFT, THUS HANGING UP IN THIRD, AND CAUSING VEHICLE TO ALMOST STALL OUT WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A SLOW, NON-STOPPING SPEED. THIS HAS CREATED SOME GUT WRENCHING AS WELL SITUATIONS. THE ONLY WAY I HAVE FOUND TO OVERCOME THIS PROBLEM IS TO MANUALLY SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR - - - AND THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I PURCHASED A NEW 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE ON NOV 11. CAR HAS A VERY NOTICEABLE WOBBLE BETWEEN 10-15 MPH WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP. WOBBLE CAN BE MINIMAL OR INTENSE ENOUGH TO MAKE YOUR LEGS SHAKE. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER FIVE TIMES. THE FIRST THREE TIMES I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE CLAIM EVEN WHEN A SERVICE WORKER FELT THE WOBBLE. THE FOURTH TIME THE ASSISTANT MANAGER WAS ABLE TO FEEL THE WOBBLE. THEY FINALLY PUT IT ON THE RACK AND COULD 'NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG' AND SAID IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. I WAS TOLD TO BRING IT BACK WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON (IT NEVER HAS). THE CAR NOW WILL NOW HESITATE TO ACCELERATE WHEN DRIVING DOWN SIDE ROADS AND EVEN ON THE INTERSTATE. NOW WHEN THE CAR WOBBLES IT FEELS LIKE IT COULD LITERALLY SLIDE OFF THE FRAME. ON OCCASION THE CAR WILL FEEL LIKE IT IS JUMPING UP THE HILL. I FEEL THAT THIS CAR IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE. I ALSO HAD AN INCIDENT WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING AND ACTUALLY SLOWED DOWN 10-15 MPH. WAS TRYING TO PULL OFF THE ROAD WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY SHIFTED VERY HARD AND BEGAN ACCELERATING AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS 'IMPOSSIBLE' FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. WE TOOK DELIVERY OF OUR 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED ON MARCH 14,2014. AFTER DRIVING IT FOR APPROX 1 MONTH WE NOTICED A VERY PROMINENT WOBBLE/SHIMMY IN THE FRONT END ON ACCELERATION, THIS STOPS AFTER IT SHIFTS INTO 3RD GEAR. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WITH THIS ISSUE ,THEY AGREED THERE WAS A PROBLEM. FIRST THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE REAR SHAFT AND IT GOT WORSE, NEXT THEY REPLACED THE CV SHAFTS AND ISOLATOR BUSHING. THESE REPAIRS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THEN WE WERE TOLD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD GET BETTER. WE NOW HAVE 6000 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE. WHEN WE BOUGHT THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE IT WAS NEW. THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION UNTIL WE HAD OWNED IT FOR ABOUT A MONTH. THEN IT STARTED HAVING A ROUGH SHIMMY AS IT SEARCHED FOR THE CORRECT GEAR GOING FROM 0 TO 10 MPH AND THEN 10 TO 20 MPH. ONCE IT REACHES ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH THE SHIFTING. WE HAVE HAD IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES. EACH TIME THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED, BUT UPON LEAVING THE LOT, IT DID THE SAME THING I HAD TAKEN IT IN FOR TO BEGIN WITH. WITH JEEP'S UPDATE, WE NOW HAVE A LONG PAUSE GOING UP HILL BEFORE IT GIVES A ROUGH SHIFT AT ABOUT 5 MPH AND THEN CONTINUES TO SHIMMY AT 10 TO 20 MPH. I WAS TOLD ON THE THIRD VISIT THEY WOULD SUBMIT A REPORT TO THE MANUFACTURER TO SEE WHAT THE NEXT STEP SHOULD BE TO FIX THE JEEP SINCE THE UPDATES DID NOT WORK. HOWEVER, THEY TRIED THE SAME THING AGAIN AND SAID THEY THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED, BUT IT WASN'T. UPON COMPLETION OF THE SECOND VISIT I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED TO GET USE TO MY DRIVING PATTERN? WHAT EXACTLY DOES THAT MEAN? WHAT IF MORE THAN ONE OF US DRIVE THE VEHICLE? I AM GETTING THE RUN-AROUND FROM JEEP ON A PRODUCT THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE SOLD ME IN THE FIRST PLACE. EVERYTHING I READ PRIOR TO THE PURCHASE RAVED ABOUT THE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN AFTER I'VE DRIVEN IT FOR AWHILE AND THE VEHICLE IS WARMED UP. I'M NERVOUS THIS WILL BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE AND I'VE SEEN MANY OTHER POSTS FROM PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. DRIVING ALONG AT 30 WHEN FIRST THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE DISPLAY SAID TRANSMISSION AND THE DISPLAY WAS LIGHTING UP WITH ALL SORTS OF SYMBOLS. THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY DISENGAGED AND THE CAR COASTED TO A STOP. IT WOULD NOT MOVE. FORTUNATELY WHEN I FELT IT LOSING POWER I WAS ABLE TO MAKE A QUICK TURN INTO A STORE PARKING LOT. HAD THAT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BECAUSE THE CAR JUST TOTALLY LOST ALL MOTION AS I WAS DRIVING. I TURNED IT COMPLETELY OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND IT STARTED BUT WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT SHOWING. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP KELLY JEEP CHRYSLER IN LYNNFIELD AND TOLD THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHAT HAPPENED. I DROVE STRAIGHT THERE...FURIOUS. THE SERVICE GUY TOOK DOWN THE INFORMATION I RELAYED ABOUT THE INCIDENT. I TOLD HIM I HAD READ RECENTLY THAT THEIR 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION HAD KNOWN ISSUES AND HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT. I TOLD HIM NOT TO EVEN TELL ME I AM THE FIRST TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM AND HE SAID "MAYBE NOT IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY BUT I DON'T THINK WE'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM HERE" AND I TOLD HIM NOT TO SPEAK DOWN TO ME BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN WRITTEN ABOUT ALREADY AS A KNOWN ISSUE. I WAS TRAVELING ON 295N IN LEFT LANE JUST PASSING MALL TRAFFIC WHEN ALL OF MY WARNING GAUGES STARTED TO GO OFF, OVER HEAT, OIL, CHECK ENGINE AND OTHERS. THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION THAT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOT GUN IN A BARREL, THE CAR WAS ALL THE WAY TO HOT. IT DIED AND I WAS ABLE TO DIRECT IT OVER TO THE LEFT LANE AND TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. IT WAS ONLY 2 AND 1/2 MONTHS OLD WITH 2400 MILES ON IT. I CALLED FOR A TOW TO DEALER SHIP. STATE POLICE ARRIVED ON SCENE FOR SAFETY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE SPEED REDUCED ON ITS OWN AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V293000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
ON APRIL 1, 2015 WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP TO MERGING INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. WARNING CAME ON THE DASH TELLING ME " TRANSMISSION NEEDS SERVICE. NO POWER. PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD. PUT CAR IN PARK AND SHUT OFF ENGINE." THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON JULY 17, 2015 WHILE MY WIFE WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN FROM A COMPLETE STOP. THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED AGAIN AND SHE LOST ALL POWER. SHE WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK WHO WAS BEHIND HER BUT MADE THE LEFT HAND TURN WITHOUT SLOWING DOWN. SHE HAD OUR 2 GRAND DAUGHTERS IN THE BACK SET AND WAS SCARED AND AFRAID FOR THEIR SAFETY. THIS 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE MODEL HAS HAD CONTINUED ISSUES WITH THE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION AND ALL JEEP DOES IS ISSUE SOFTWARE UPGRADES TO TRY TO ELIMINATE THE SHIFTING AND POOR ACCELERATION PROBLEMS THIS TRANSMISSION CONTINUES TO HAVE. WITH THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGING AT LOWER SPEEDS SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IF NOT SERIOUSLY HURT. THE NHTSA NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL TO JEEP BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED BY THIS FAULTY TRANSMISSION THAT WAS BROUGHT TO MARKET BEFORE LONG TERM TEST COULD BE CONDUCTED ON IT TO MAKE SURE IT FUNCTIONS PROPERLY AND SAFELY.

ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE PAST A CAR THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO PICK UP, THE CAR DID NOT EVEN GO. IT HAS EVEN CAUSED THE CAR TO JUMP FORWARD AFTER BREAKING AND COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS HAS ALL BEEN HAPPENING CONTINUOUSLY SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR. I WAS INITIALLY TOLD IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE BUT NO UPDATES HAVE SEEMED TO FIX THE ISSUES AND IT JUST CONTINUES TO GET WORSE, I'M SCARED FOR MY SAFETY.

REPEATEDLY TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP - WESTBURY JEEP, NY FROM DAY 1. INITIALLY THEY CLAIMED THERE WAS NO SUCH ISSUE. ON A CONSECUTIVE VISIT, THEY ADDRESSED PART OF THE PROBLEM WITH A SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT THEY SAID WAS KNOWN TO CORRECT THE PARTICULAR PROBLEM. THE ISSUE DOES NOT HAPPEN AS FREQUENTLY BUT DOES STILL OCCUR. IT IS INTERMITTENT AND SINCE YOU'RE NOT EXPECTING IT, CAN PUT YOU IN PANIC MODE WHILE DRIVING AND SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO AVOID A FEELING OF BEING OUT OF CONTROL AND COLLIDING INTO THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF YOU. THE CAR ALSO ROLLS BACK ON OCCASION. BOTH ISSUES ARE CONSIDERED UNSAFE AND HAPHAZARD. I WILL NOT PUT YOUNG CHILDREN IN THIS CAR DUE TO FEAR OF THEIR SAFETY. THESE ARE STILL ISSUES FROM DAY 1, NOW 8 MONTHS INTO OWNERSHIP WITH REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO GET ALL PROBLEMS RESOLVED (AMONG OTHER ISSUES) AFTER REPORTING TO JEEP AND THE DEALERSHIP - AND NOT GETTING ANY RESPONSE - I'VE ASKED REPEATEDLY FOR THEM TO TAKE BACK THE CAR AND ISSUE AN REFUND THEIR RESPONSE HAS BEEN TO STOP ALL COMMUNICATIONS AND CLOSE MY CASE. THIS CAR IS A DANGER ON THE ROAD, BOTH TO THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS AND SURROUNDING DRIVERS. *TR
CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN MARCH OF 2014. HAS CONSISTENTLY HAD ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. CAR SHIFT HARD (IN THE LOWER GEARS), TRANSMISSION MAKES LOUD NOISES, AND HAS REPEATEDLY JERKED FORWARD WHEN DOWNSHIFTING. THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW TIMES WHERE I NEARLY REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE DUE TO THIS. HAVE HAD THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER FOR ALL RECALLS AND TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPDATES AS REQUIRED. I AM CURRENTLY AT 75,000 MILES AND NOW THE CAR IS RANDOMLY STALLING WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. I AM GOING TO BE TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN TWO WEEKS WHEN I AM ON VACATION TO SEE WHAT THE ISSUE IS. VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE!
UPON ACCELERATION 5MPH, MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS. TRANSMISSION LIGHT, RED LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHT, SHIFTING HARD, WHEEL LOCKED UP, BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, CAR DIED. CAR IS 2 MONTHS OLD. DASH FLASHED RED WRITING, CAN NO SHIFT UNLESS IN P BEFORE DIED. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION WHEN THIS HAPPENED. HURRIED TO TURN CAR OFF AND TURN BACK ON AND IT DROVE. SEEMS TO DO THIS WHEN THE CAR HAS SAT FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. SHIFTS HARD DOESN'T ACCELERATE WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS. DATES OCCURRED SAME PROBLEM 3/30, 3/31, 4/1. CAR IS AT THE DEALER FOR REVIEW. 9-SPEED TRANSMISSION, WHEN IN DRIVE AND SLOWED TO NEARLY A STOP, DROPS INTO NEUTRAL AND WHEN I ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE REVS AND THE TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO GEAR CAUSING THE TIRES TO SQUEAL. COMPLAINED AND TOOK INTO PREMIER DODGE IN TRACY, CA AND WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL FOR THIS TRANSMISSION. BEGAN HAPPENING SINCE NEW IN 2014 AND STILL HAVE PROBLEM AFTER MANY 'UPDATES' AND COMPLAINTS TO THEM. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF I NEED TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY!
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE I BEGAN FEELING THE SENSATION OF WHEEL SHIMMY IN THE CAR. I FIRST NOTICED DURING A RIGHT HAND TURN AT ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. THE BEST DESCRIPTION I CAN GIVE IS AS IF A CV JOINT WAS LOOSE AND A SHIMMY IN THE VEHICLE AND STEERING RESULTED. WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP AND ACCELERATING THIS SHIMMY OCCURS EVEN WHEN NOT TURNING RIGHT. FEELS LIKE FRONT LEFT WHEEL? I TOOK TO DEALER TWICE. AT FIRST THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE SENSATION TO ME AND SAID THEY WENT TO LOT AND DROVE A NEW CHEROKEE TO SEE IF THAT SAME FEEL HAPPENED. AND IT DID. TOLD ME IT WAS THE WAY THEY WERE. ??? I CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE AND AM VERY DISTRAUGHT ABOUT IT. I CALLED MFG CLIENT CARE & REPORTED. THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO TAKE BACK TO DEALER AND CALL THEM AFTER DEALER HAS THE VEHICLE. I DID THAT. THIS TIME THE DEALER SAYS THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY TEST DRIVE THE CAR. THEY SAY ALL COMPONENTS LOOK TIGHT WITH NO WEAR. JEEP HAS 2500 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. I AM BEING TOLD THAT TO JUST CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IF A COMPLETE BREAK OCCURS, THEY WILL FIX THEN. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE LTD. IN 10/2013 FOR MY DAUGHTER TO LEARN TO DRIVE (WITH LEARNER'S PERMIT) AND TO DRIVE WHEN SHE GETS HER LICENSE SOON. I WAS DRIVING THE CAR IN MARCH ON I-10 IN HEAVY TRAFFIC TIME WHEN SUV MADE A WHINING NOISE, GEARS STALLED FOR SEVERAL SECONDS, RPM'S DROPPED. SUV CONTINUED TO DO THIS AT A VARIETY OF SPEEDS WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 7000 MILES, SO I BROUGHT SUV TO SELLING DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THEY GUESSED AND UPDATED SOFTWARE, THEN CLOSED THE SERVICE ORDER. AFTER LEAVING DEALERSHIP, SUV PERFORMED 5 INTERMITTENT AND SIMILAR EPISODES ON THE WAY TO DESTINATION THAT WAS ABOUT 7 MILES AWAY. I RETURNED SUV TO THE SAME SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE NEXT DAY AND REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO CHRYLSER AND JEEP CUSTOMER CARE (JCC). JCC CONTACTED THE DEALER. A DECISION WAS MADE TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION TO BE SENT TO JEEP ENGINEERS TO DISSECT AND DETERMINE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. A NEW TRANSMISSION EXACT TO THE OLD, ONLY WITH 'UPDATES' WAS PLACED IN THE SUV. SINCE THESE SERIES OF EVENTS HAVE OCCURRED, I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THE JEEP CHEROKEE HAD 4 HOLDS ON RELEASING THE SUV DUE TO THE ISSUES WITH 9 GEAR FIAT TRANSMISSION. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT OURS WAS THE 2ND SUCH CASE SEEN IN THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. ULTIMATELY, JCC OFFERED MORE WARRANTY AND THE ABILITY TO SKIP ONE PAYMENT OF WHICH I DID NOT ACCEPT. THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE OFFER WOULD HAVE BEEN FOR THE ENGINEERS TO TELL ME THAT THE SUV IS SAFE FOR THEIR OWN NEW TEEN DRIVER OR TO TAKE THE SUV BACK, TO NO AVAIL. JCC SENT THE CASE TO THE 'CASE ANALYST' TEAM, BUT ULTIMATELY CLOSED THE CASE AS RESOLVED. I HAVE SERIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT MY DAUGHTER DRIVING THE SUV ONCE SHE OBTAINS HER LICENSE. I ALSO HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT HER YOUNGER BROTHERS RIDING IN AN SUV THAT MAY PERFORM UNSAFELY AND UNPREDICTABLY. *JS
