IT FIRST STARTED WITH 911 VEHICLE PHONE "VEHICLE PHONE REQUIRES SERVICE" PLEASE CONTACT DEALER. THEN AFTER A FEW MONTHS THE DISPLAY WILL TAKE A WHILE TO TURN ON, AT ONE POINT DURING THAT TIME I WENT TO TURN ON MY CAR AND IT WOULDN'T START, IT SAID "KEY FOB NOT FOUND" WHEN KEY WAS WITH ME. IT DID FINALLY TURN ON AFTER I REMOVED THE KEY FROM FOB. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DID SOME UPDATES ON IT, COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS LATER. WAS WORKING FINE AFTER THAT, BUT TWO DAYS LATER I GOT THE INITIAL MESSAGE FROM ABOVE AND MY GPS WAS NOT WORKING. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY WILL DO UPDATES AGAIN. DEALER CAME BACK AND SAID DURING THE UPDATES THE RADIO WENT (STOP WORKING)AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIO. THEY ORDERED ONE, I TOOK IT IN FOR REPLACEMENT AND IT'S BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 3 DAYS, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. THEY SAID THEY ARE WAITING ON FACTORY TO ADVISE THEM.
I TURNED ON MY VEHICLE GETTING READY FOR WORK WHEN A MESSAGE READING 'SERVICE SHIFTER' APPEARED WHILE THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTING SETTINGS LIT UP. I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND FOUND THAT IT'S BEEN A COMMON THING HAPPENING TO OTHER JEEP CHEROKEE OWNERS. I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY, STATIONARY WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND NOW I CAN'T GO TO WORK UNTIL IT IS FIXED BECAUSE I'M CONCERNED THAT IF I DRIVE AROUND TOO MUCH A MORE SERIOUS ISSUE MAY OCCUR.
JEEP WILL BE IN DRIVE. I WILL BE DRIVING. IT WILL STOP AND GIVE WARNING THAT VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE PUT IN PARK BEFORE IT CAN BE PUT IN DRIVE. BUT SHIFTER HAS BEEN IN DRIVE FOR A WHILE AND I HAD BEEN DRIVING. IT WILL LOSE POWER FOR NOW REASON. LIKE IT IS DOWNSHIFTING BUT MY FOOT IS ONE THE GAS PEDDLE. HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES BOTH ISSUES.
SINGLE CLICK HEARD FROM BRAKE AREA AT THE END OF BRAKING. DOESN'T HAPPEN IF YOU TURN OF STABILITY CONTROL OR PUT INTO SNOW OR SPORT MODE. DEALERSHIP CANT FIND REASON FOR LOUD CLICK. ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED, HAPPENS ABOUT 50% OF TIMES BRAKING.
I WAS DRIVING HOME IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. MY POWER STEERING UNEXPECTEDLY CUT OUT AND THE CHECK ENGINE, POWER STEERING AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON SIMULTANEOUSLY. BECAUSE I COULD NOT CONTROL THE CAR WITH THE UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER STEERING I DROVE OFF THE ROAD UNTIL I COULD BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AS THIS OCCURRED AND GOING FORWARD AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. THE ERROR APPEARS TO BE AROUND THE ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST SYSTEM. BROUGHT TO GARAGE NEXT MORNING VIA TOW TRUCK. CAR WAS BEHAVING NORMALLY. ALL WARNING LIGHTS OFF AND STEERING FUNCTIONAL. SHOP CHECKED GROUNDS, POWER AND A WIRING HARNESS AND COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE FOR THE STEERING TO CUT OUT LIKE IT DID AS THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THERE WERE MULTIPLE ERROR CODES IN THE SYSTEM REGARDING LOSS OF COMMUNICATION WITH THE ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST MODULE. DUE TO THE RANDOM NATURE OF THIS INCIDENT AND THE INCONCLUSIVE DIAGNOSTICS I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS CAN AND WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND COULD CAUSE A MUCH MORE SEVERE ACCIDENT IF I'M GOING HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN THE STEERING CUTS OUT OR DRIVING IN WINTER WEATHER.

SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON FOR THE PAST YEAR. HAD IN 6 MONTHS AGO AND THEY TOLD ME IT JUST NEEDED A "SOFTWARE UPDATE". NOW 6 MONTHS LATER THEY SAY IT NEED A NEW SHIFTER AN WIRE HARNESS FOR $500. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE ORIGINALLY SINCE IT'S THE SAME ISSUE AND NOW NOT UNDER WARRANTY. INTERNET HAS MANY COMPLAINTS FROM THIS KNOWN ISSUE. *TR
DRIVING ON A BUSY FOUR LANE WITH HEAVY TRUCK TRAFFIC THE ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON AND THE DISPLAY STATES SERVICE TRANSMISSION. YOU CAN PUSH THE ACCELERATOR CLEAR TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR CREEPS NOT MORE THAN 25 TO 30 MILES AN HOUR IF IT IS LEVEL, IT JUST DROPS OFF! YOU CAN'T PULL A HILL. IT IS LIKE GETTING RUN OVER. CARS AND TRUCKS ARE ALL OVER YOU! ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. WE PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF THEN START IT AGAIN. IT OPERATES AGAIN, BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. WE WERE TOLD BY THE OWNER OF A TRANSMISSION SHOP THAT IT SEEMS LIKE A SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING ISSUE. WE CALLED JEEP AND WERE TOLD TO SUBMIT OUR VIN TO SEE IF THERE IS RECALL. THERE ISN'T A CURRENT RECALL FOR OUR VIN. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!! WE LOOKED ON LINE AND FOUND AN ARTICLE ON A SITE CALLED CARSCOOPS.COM THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM THAT WE EXPERIENCED. FOR 2014-17 CHEROKEES LIKE OURS. PLEASE HELP. WE DON'T HAVE THE FINANCES FOR A LARGE TRANSMISSION REPAIR. SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON INSTRUMENT PANEL AS WELL AS ALL THE LIGHTS ON SHIFTER ITSELF. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON I 69, PLACING IT IN PARK, AND ALSO WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE PICTURES INCLUDED ARE DATED 6/13/2020 BUT THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE AND THAT WASN'T THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED. DID REPORT TO WATERMARK TOYOTA IN MADISONVILLE,KY WHEN WE GOT THE OIL CHANGED ON 9/4/2020 AND THEY SAID COULDN'T IT TO SHOW A CODE. WE WILL NEED TO BRING IN WHEN IT IS SHOWING "SERVICE SHIFTER"
MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE 4 X 4 OVERHEATED BURSTING 2 COOLING HEATER HOSES, DRAINED OUT ALL THE ANTIFREEZE COOLANT. MECHANIC HOPES THAT HEAD GASKET WILL BE THE ONLY DAMAGE OTHERWISE CAN RUIN THE ENGINE AND THAT WILL CAUSE A ENGINE REPLACEMENT WHICH WILL BE A VERY HIGH COST. *TR
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AND GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS ARE ALL RED,P,R,N,D. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING WHERE THE LIGHTS GO OFF AND COME BACK ON ABRUPTLY. I HAVE PULLED OVER TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND THE SERVICE SHIFTER NOTIFICATION IS CLEARED, AND DOES NOT COME BACK ON FOR A EXTENDED TIME OF 3-4 DAYS THEN COMES BACK ON. *TR
OVER THE COURSE OF A YEAR, MY BATTERY HAS DIED (OCT), MY HARSH COLD START NEEDED REPLACEMENT (NOV), MY RADIO COMPLETELY DIED AND COULD NOT BE UPDATED (DEC) AND RECENTLY WITHIN THE PAST TWO MONTHS AND BY FAR THE MOST CONCERNING IS THAT MY JEEP WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT OR STOPPING FOR ONLY A MINUTE. THIS IS NOT SUE RO LOW OIL OR ANYTHING OF MY OWN DOING. IT WILL TELL ME TO SHIFT INTO PARK AND THEN INTO GEAR. YESTERDAY WAS THE MOST CONCERNING AS IT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS IN MOTION AND NOTHING WORKING, STEERING, LIGHTS NOTHING AT ALL ON THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED. I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT IN PARK BUT MY KEYS WOULDN'T EVEN BE RELEASED FROM THE IGNITION. I HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALER WHO THEN STATED THEY CAN'T FIND A CODE FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, THE OIL IS PERFECTLY FINE AND THAT THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING BC IT COULD BE ANYTHING. I HAVE NO DOUBT THIS IS ELECTRICAL IN SOME WAY AND A MANUFACTURER DEFECT OF SOME KIND AS I HAVE FOUND 100S OF OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME CAR AND SAME ENGINE TYPE. IT IS DANGEROUS THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT PUTTING A RECALL ON WHATEVER IS GOING ON OR AT LEAST TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMS ALL JEEPS ARE KNOWN FOR THEIR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. I DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO TRADE THIS CAR IN OR GET ANOTHER ONE WITH MY FINANCIAL SITUATION AND MY ENTIRE BUSINESS IS RUN OFF OF ME DRIVING. I COULD'VE BEEN KILLED AS IT DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN A BLIND CURVE WHERE PEOPLE FLY THROUGH AT OVER 55 MPH. I HAD TO HAVE AN OFFICER COME AND SIT BEHIND ME I WAS SO SCARED AS THE CAR WOULD DO NOTHING AT ALL!!!! I HOPE IF THIS IS HAPPENING TO OTHER PEOPLE THAT THEIR FAMILY IS AWARE OF THE ISSUES AND KNOWS TO SUE CHRYSLER FOR EVERYTHING WHEN AN ACCIDENT RESULTS IN SOMEONE'S DEATH!!! *TR
I have owned my jeep since 2019. Since having my jeep MULTIPLE times I have had the Service shifter light come on. Previously shutting the vehicle off and turning it back on seemed to solve the issue for a little bit until it would come on again. Later down the road my battery died. Upon replacing the battery I didn't seem to notice the issue ever. Now I have another new battery and the light has come on permantely and does not turn off even if I restart the car and as I stated it is a brand new battery. I know there was a recall for this exact issue previously for the year before mine and the year after mine. Something needs to be done about this because i see countless people have this exact same problem.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SERVICE TRANSMISSION CAME ON. IT STARTING ACTING AS THOUGH IT WAS STUCK IN A HIGHER GEAR. GOING FROM A COMPLETE STOP AND ACCELERATING, THERE WAS NO POWER. AFTER GETTING THE CODE READ, IT WAS DISPLAYING P0887 "TCM POWER RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH." I'VE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND NOTICED THAT IT HAS HAPPEN ON A LOT OF THE CHRYSLER VEHICLES FROM 2014 TO 2018.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED A MESSAGE TO PLACE GEAR SHIFTER IN PROPER GEAR. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NORTHWEST CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (19616 NORTHWEST FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77065) HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE PICKED UP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE 23,000. *LN*JB

MY CAR STARTED UP FINE THEN I WAS LEAVING A PARKING LOT AND MY CAR LITERALLY STOPPED AND DIED . I TURNED THE KEY AND MY CAR WOULDN'T START UP . I WAITED AGAIN AND IT STILL WOULDN'T START. THEN THE NEXT DAY I DROVE IT TO THE DEALER SHIP THEN MY HUSBAND WAS TOLD WHEN THE OIL GETS TO LOW THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY DIES THERE ARE NO WARNING SIGNS , THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND THAT IT'S VERY COMMON IN MY TYPE OF JEEP. SO I'VE BEEN CHECKING MY OIL AND EVERY 2 DAYS I HAVE TO PUT OIL IN MY CAR BECAUSE I'M SCARED THAT MY CAR WILL STOP ON A MAJOR HIGH WAY .BECAUSE THERE WAS NO WAY TO FIX THIS AND I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE OIL IS GOING IN MY CAR .

I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW IN 2016. AT 33,000 MILES THE ENGINE FAILED RESULTING IN THE CAR SHAKING WHEN ACCELERATING IN MOTION AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I BROUGHT IT IN AND WAS TOLD THE SPARK PLUGS FAILED AND THEY WERE REPLACED. AT 58,000 MILES THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE SPARK PLUGS AND THESE WERE REPLACED AGAIN. AT 74,100 IT HAPPENED A THIRD TIME. I BROUGHT IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. AT THIS TIME, THE CAR WAS ALMOST 10,000 OUT OF WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS OIL LEAKING OUT OF MY ENGINE ONTO MY SPARK PLUGS CAUSING THE SPARK PLUGS TO MUD UP AND FAIL AND THAT I WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE. AFTER SOME ARGUING BACK AND FORTH, FCA, USA AGREED TO SUPPLY A NEW ENGINE IF I PAID FOR THE LABOR, WHICH I DID.

'SERVICE SHIFTER' IS DISPLAYED, MEANING I CANNOT USE ANY OF THE IN VEHICLE CONTROLS OR USE THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION FEATURE OR SEE WHAT GEAR I AM IN. IT'S AN AUTOMATIC BUT HAS THE MANUAL OPTION. I'VE SEEN HUNDREDS OF OTHER PEOPLE EFFECTED BY THIS, NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ASAP OR GROUNDS FOR A CLASS ACTION IF NO ACTION IS TAKEN. *TR
AT RANDOM TIMES I WILL GET AN ERROR ON MY DASH BOARD WHERE THE ELECTRIC SPEEDOMETER SHOWS AND IT SAYS "SERVICE SHIFTER". ALSO, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER (P,R,D, ETC) TURN ON IN RED. I WILL NOT GO AWAY BY PRESSING THE OK BUTTON. IT WAS NOT HAPPENING A WHOLE LOT, JUST FROM TIME TO TIME, BUT LATELY LIKE THE PAST WEEK OR SO IT HAS BEEN TURNING ON MORE AND USUALLY GOES AWAY IF I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, TAKE OUT THE KEY AND THEN TURN IT BACK ON. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN AT ANY GIVEN TIME, WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR NOT. THE LATEST WAS YESTERDAY, I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT TODAY. *TR
WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN FROM A STOP POSITION HEARING A HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE RIGHT REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND AS SOON AS I TURN BACK TO THE RIGHT TO STRAIGHTEN UP IT GOES AWAY,,VEHICLE ONLY HAS 19K. *TR
GEARS ARE CLUNKING WHEN BEING SHIFTED FROM ANY GEAR. *TR
AS I'M DRIVING, A DASH WARNING LIGHT COMES ON THAT SAYS 'SERVICE SHIFTER' AND ALL THE LIGHTS INDICATING WHAT GEAR I'M IN COME ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE PAST WEEK AND I'VE BEFORE ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO, TWICE ON A CITY STREET (45MPH) AND ONCE ON A HIGHWAY (65MPH). EACH TIME THE CAR HAS TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED TO CLEAR THE MESSAGE. *TR
WHENEVER ENROUTE THE CAR BATTERY OR WHATEVER THE ISSUE MAY BE ELECTICALLY WOULD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF LOCKING THE STEERING WHEEL, RENDERING THE VEHICLE DEAD. EVEN WITH TURNING OFF THE CAR AND STARTING IT, THE PROCESS TAKES THREE TO FOUR TRIES. ITLL HAPPEN RANDOMLY SOMETIMES AT LIGHT INTERSECTIONS, MAKING TURNS, EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY. ITS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE PAST 4 MONTHS EVEN AFTER OIL CHANGE AND TWO BATTERY EXCHANGES. TODAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN, TWICE, ONCE GOING THROUGH A LIGHT DYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION, AND THE SECOND WAS PASSING ON THE OVERPASS. THERE HASNT BEEN ANY ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES YET BUT THERE HAS BEEN A VAST AMOUNT OF CLOSE CALLS.
WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC SUDDENLY LOST POWER. LIGHT ON DASHBOARD INDICATED SOMETHING WITH TRANSMISSION. DEALER INSPECTED AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG MECHANICALLY. IT NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. WE WERE LUCKY TO HAVE NOT BEEN REAR ENDED. IF NOTHING WAS WRONG MECHANICALLY, IT SHOULD NOT HAVE LOST POWER. A NOTIFICATION WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE SUITABLE. CARCOMPLAINTS WEBSITE HAS 50 SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT 2016 CHEROKEE DYING OR LOSING POWER FOR NO OTHER REASON THAN THE COMPUTER. EVERYONE OF THEM STATES HOW DANGEROUS THIS IS WHILE IN TRAFFIC.
THE SUNROOF WILL NOT CLOSE. WHEN THE BUTTON IS PRESSED TO AUTO-CLOSE THE SUNROOF, THE ROOF BEGINS TO CLOSE BUT STOPS 3-5 INCHES FROM FULL CLOSE AND THEN REOPENS FULLY. IT TAKES THREE ATTEMPTS TO AUTO-CLOSE BEFORE THE SYSTEM STOPS AUTO-CLOSE AND THEN YOU HAVE TO HOLD THE CLOSE BUTTON FOR IT TO FULLY CLOSE. I'VE HAD THIS REPAIRED ONCE DURING WARRANTY BUT IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN.
THE VEHICLE SAYS 'SERVICE SHIFTER' AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIGHT UP. I WAS TOLD BY MY DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE. I HAD THE OIL CHANGE, BUT IT STILL KEEPS HAPPENING. WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN, I PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON. SOMETIMES IT GOES AWAY, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T.
I HAVE OWNED MY 2016 CHEROKKE SINCE JAN 2020 IN APRIL IT BEGAN TO RUN FUNNY THATS WHEN I DISCOVERED THE VEHICLE SUFFERING FROM EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I HAVE BEEN TO MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS DOING OIL CONSUMPTION TEST JUST TO BE TOLD I WENT OVER THE MILEAGE A NEW TEST HAS TO BE STARTED. NOW HERE I AM WITH THE SAME ISSUE JUST THE RUN AROUND. I ALSO HAVE A TRANS THAT CLUNKS AND BANGS INTO GEAR. SOMETIMES IT WILL HANG BEFORE SHIFTING OR GEAR HUNT AND TRY TO SHIFT INTO TWO GEARS AT ONCE. I TOLD THE DEALER THIS TO BE TOLD THAT WAS NORMAL OR THAT MY BRAKES WERE THE PROBLEM. IT STILL HASNT BEEN RESOLVED IM STUCK PAYING ON THIS JUNK I OWE MORE THAN ITS WORTH SO I CANT GET RID OF IT. I JUST WANT JEEP TO TAKE ACCOUNTABLITY AND FIX IT OR REPLACE IT. ALL OF THESE ISSUES HAPPEND IN CITY DRIVING ON BUSY ROADS AND INTERSTATES AS WELL AS COUNTRY AREAS WITH TRAFFIC.
MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE-LATITUDE HAS 89000+ MILES ON IT. A FEW MONTHS AGO I THOUGHT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING AND BOUGHT FLUID FOR IT. COULDN'T FIND AN ACCESS POINT, SO I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP. GUY TOLD ME IT WAS A "CLOSED TRANSMISSION". TOOK IT IN THE BACK AND CLAIMED TO DO AN UPDATE. AFTER THAT, AN ERROR MSG BEGAN POPPING UP SAYING "SERVICE SHIFTER" AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFT PANEL WERE RED. AFTER THIS BEGAN HAPPENING MORE I CALLED THE JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE WHERE THEY HINTED IT MAY BE A RECALL. NOW DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME $375 TO FIX IT. I'M READING FROM OTHER JEEP OWNERS WHO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE THAT JEEP HAS NO FIX, BUT KEEPS CHARGING PEOPLE. ONE GUY SAID HIS ACTUALLY STOPPED ON HIM ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON THE STREET AND THE HIGHWAY, EVENTUALLY STOPPING, SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND TURNING IT BACK ON. I'M GOING TO CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT BECAUSE THEY CAN'T FIX IT. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY AN OVERSEER OF AUTOMOBILE SAFETY. I HOPE THAT IS YOU. I DON'T WANT TO BE A CRASH TEST DUMMY. SERVICE SHIFTER CAME ON AND ALL LIGHTS ON GEAR SHIFT PRND WERE ALL LIT UP

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING AT 25 MPH WHEN THE FRONT WHEEL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO DROP TO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE VEERED OFF THE ROAD GRAZING A TREE UNTIL IT STOPPED. THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSING THE DRIVER TO HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS WIFE SUSTAINED BRUISING ON HER CHEST, EYES, ARMS AND SUFFERED A CONCUSSION. THE DRIVER WAS UNCONSCIOUS UNTIL WAS PULLED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCREEN AND IT WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V284000 (POWER TRAIN) WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000. *DT*JB
I BOUGHT MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE FROM A CARMAX ABOUT 7 MONTHS AGO WITH ABOUT 30K MILES ON IT. A FEW MONTHS LATER, MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I TURNED MY CAR ON. I STARTED DRIVING AND NOTHING WAS HAPPENING, BUT THE LIGHT REMAINED ON. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SOON AFTER AND AFTER TURNING OFF AND ON THE CAR A FEW TIMES IT DISAPPEARED. IN THE PAST MONTH OR TWO I HAVE HAD THIS LIGHT COME ON MANY TIMES. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE, IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A REOCCURRING ISSUE WITH JEEP CHEROKEES FROM 2016-2017 AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS MONTHS AFTER IT HAS BEEN SERVICED. I AM GOING TO BE TAKING MY JEEP IN TO BE SERVICED BECAUSE OF THIS WARNING AND WILL MONITOR CLOSELY IF/WHEN THE WARNING REAPPEARS.

THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT HAS BEEN ON PRETTY MUCH SINCE I GOT THE VEHICLE. HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO ORILEYS AND WAS TOLD CODES WERE EITHER TRANSMISSION OR FIRING. I WAS TOLD TO CHANGE THE COIL PACKS. THIS SEEMED TO FIX THE ISSUE OF IT BOGGING DOWN WHILE DRIVING. LIKE IT WOULDN'T SHIFT. IF U PUT IT IN MANUAL IT WOULD WORK. COIL PACKS FIXED ALL THAT. NOW MY WIFE DRIVES VEHICLE IN DETROIT TRAFFIC AND THE VEHICLE JUST SLIPS OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING. HAS BEEN VERY DANGEROUS WHILE IN FLOW OF HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC. VEHICLE LIKE WANTING TO STOP IMMEDIATELY AND ALMOST GET REAR ENDED.
SERVICE TRANSMISSION ERROR ALERTING AFTER CAR REACHES 50MPH. CAR LOSES ABILITY TO CHANGE GEARS AND DROPS DRASTICALLY IN SPEED. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC. AFTER RESET WHICH ONLY LASTS A SHORT TIME AND ERROR CONTINUES. WHEN CAR IS PUT IN PARK TEMPORARILY RESETS BUT THEN ERRORS AGAIN OVER AND OVER WHEN SPEEDS INCREASE. RED SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON REGARDLESS OF ANY RESET.
PURCHASED MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE IN FEBRUARY OF 2017 BRAND NEW WITH 3 MILES. IT NOW HAS 71,000 MILES, WHEN COMING TO A STOP, CAR WILL SHUT OFF AND A MESSAGE READS ACROSS THE SCREEN "SHIFT TO P THEN DESIRED GEAR" I TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART AND THE ENGINE HESITATES TO START BUT AFTER A MINUTE OR SO IT RESTARTS. I TURN A CORNER AND SHUTS OFF AGAIN WITH MESSAGE "BLIND SPOT ALERT UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED" TOLD THIS IS DUE TO OIL BEING VERY LOW WITH AN OIL CHANGE IT SHOW SOLVE THE SHUT OFF PROBLEM. IT'S AT DEALERSHIP NOW JUST WAITING BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DUE TO ANOTHER PROBLEM I'M HAVING WITH HARD SHIFTS, LUNGING, AND REPEATED ILLUMINATION OF DASHBOARD AND RADIO LIGHTS SHUTTING OFF. TOLD IT POSSIBLY NEEDS A SYSTEM UPDATE. WITH THAT BEING SAID I'M TOLD I HAVE TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND SYSTEM UPDATE BECAUSE MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED HOWEVER I READ IT HAPPEN PRIOR TO 2016. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS IF IT HAPPENED AFTER MY WARRANTY? ALSO A/C IS NOT WORKING ALL THE TIME. IT WILL SHUT OFF AND THEN AT TIMES WHEN I TURN A CORNER IT WILL SHOOT BACK ON. HAS SOMETHING TO DUE WITH A/C BLOWER. I'VE LITERALLY HAD THIS JEEP 3 YEARS I HAVE NEVER EVER HAD THIS MANY PROBLEMS WITH OTHER VEHICLES, NEW OR USED AS I'VE HAD WITH THIS ONE.
BOTH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM LIGHTS CAME ON. THE VEHICLE REPEATEDLY WOULD SEEM TO GLITCH OUT WHILE OPERATING AT VARYING SPEEDS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. SEEMS TO LOSE POWER FOR VERY BRIEF SPURTS.
Shortly after I purchased my vehicle in 2020 I had a service shifter come on the dash with all the lights illuminated on bezel. I took it to the dealership and it was giving codes to suggest the the shifter bezel and wiring needed to be replaced this was done approximately 07/2021. Since then I have had no other issues with it until this morning it came back on. I have looked this up and a lot of Jeep owners experience this issue. It is apparent that there is a manufacture issues or issue that I feel Jeep is responsible for and needs to fix. With this involving the shifter/transmission there is an obvious safety concern.
