MY CAR, IN 4X4 MODE, LOST CONTROL ON AN OFF-RAMP AND STRUCK A CONCRETE BASE TO AN INTERSTATE STREET LIGHT. ZERO AIRBAGS WENT OFF DESPITE ME TOTALING THE CAR AND EXTENSIVE DAMAGE DONE TO THE FRONT END. THE SHEER FORCE OF THE IMPACT BRUISED MY ARM, BLACKENED MY EYE AND RIPPED MY EYELID IN HALF, INJURING MY RIGHT EYE AND SENDING ME TO THE TRAUMA UNIT FOR EMERGENCY SURGERY.
WHEN DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS OF WEST VIRGINIAN HAVING THE CRUISE CONTROL SET TO 70 EVERYTHING WORKS FINE UNTIL YOU COME TO A STEEP DOWN HILL GRADE. SUDDENLY I WOULD LOOK DOWN AND I WOULD BE DOING 90 MILES A HOUR AND THE ENGINE RPM IS OVER 5000. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES. 3 TIMES I WOULD JUST TOUCH THE BRAKE AND THE ENGINE RPM WOULD IMMEDIATELY GO DOWN TO AROUND 2000 RPM. ONE TIME I HADE TO STAND ON THE BRAKES FOR SEVERAL SECONDS UNTIL THE RPM WOULD GO DOWN. I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR ONE TIME. MY SON DROVE THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS ON OUR WAY TO THE EAST COAST AND I DROVE THROUGH THEM ON THE WAY HOME. HE TOLD ME THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIM SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR JUST OVER 2 YEARS AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKS FINE. THE ONLY TIME I HAVE PROBLEMS IS IN THE MOUNTAINS ON A DOWN HILL ROAD.
THE VEHICLE IS BURNING OIL BETWEEN CHANGES, IT SHUTS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING ON A ROAD BECAUSE IT HAS NO OIL. NO WARNING MESSAGES OR LIGHTS POP UP. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT BY OTHER CARS TWICE (WITH A CHILD IN THE BACKSEAT) BECAUSE THE CAR SHUTS DOWN AND THERE IS NO OIL IN THE CAR. MY SCREEN SAYS I HAVE OVER 50% REMAINING UNTIL THE NEXT OIL CHANGE! I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND I WAS ALMOST HIT BY OTHER CARS!
MY VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING; ON THE EXPRESSWAY, AFTER A CAR WASH, IN THE SCHOOL PARKING LOT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS!! IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. ONLINE COMPLAINTS ARE PLENTIFUL...THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED, SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE SERIOUSLY HURT!! CURRENTLY AT THE SHOP, THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE ISSUE IS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS.
I SAW ON CREDIT KARMA MY VEHICLE HAS SEVERAL RECALLS
VEHICLE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ANY OTHER INDICATION OF ISSUES. WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES AND NO INDICATION LIGHTS ON AGAIN BUT DRIVING FINE. CHECKED OIL LEVEL THIS MORNING AND IT IS AT 83% AFTER ONLY 1375 MILES. EXTREMELY UNSAFE!!! CONDITIONS WERE DARK/NIGHTTIME AND ALL ELECTRICAL SHUT OFF AS WELL LEAVING US TO BE UNSEEN AND ALMOST HIT BY 18 WHEELER. THIS IS THE 3RD MAJOR ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR. IT HAS NEEDED NEW STARTER COIL, NEW THERMOSTAT AND NOW THIS.
AT 61,000 MILES MY JEEP STARTED HAVING A STRONG FUEL SMELL IN THE CABIN AFTER COMING TO A STOP WITH THE AUTO-START DIS-ENGAGED. READING ONLINE, MANY PEOPLE ON THE FORUMS HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES WITH CHEROKEES SINCE THE EARLY 2000'S WITH NO KNOWN MALFUNCTION TO FIX. THE EXHAUST SMELL HAS CAUSED HEADACHES IN THE LAST WEEK.
I HAVE A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED. WHEN I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND SLOW DOWN SUCH AS TO MAKE A TURN OR STOP AT A REDLIGHT, THE ENGINE DIES OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE ON IT, AND THE TEST INDICATED THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED CLEANING OR THE AIR FILTER WAS DIRTY. I HAD THE THROTTLE BODY CLEANED AND THE AIR FILTER REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE. THE VEHICLE IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. THE IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN IN THAT THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHILE I WAS IN AN INTERSECTION MAKING A TURN. I AM CONCERNED THAT I WILL GET HIT BY ON COMING TRAFFIC, IF THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. I DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER VEHICLE TO DRIVE NOR IS PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE. JEEP NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS SAFETY ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED.
WHILE DRIVING AND VEHICLE IN MOTION UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE BY ITSELF WITHOUT WARNING AND CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS AND SAFETY CONCERNS. VEHICLES ENGINE LIGHT WILL REMAIN ON AND JEEP DEALERSHIP CAN NOT DIAGNOSE AND PROPERLY FIX VEHICLE. VEHICLE EXPERIENCES UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING CAUSING MAJOR SAFETY CONCERNS.
JEEP REPLACED THE ORIGINAL ENGINE UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. NOW THE SECOND ENGINE, AFTER ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES OF DRIVING, IS ALSO CONSUMING EXCESS OIL. PER CHRYSLER'S SERVICE BULLETIN 09-007-15 PUBLISHED ON 7/31/15, A 2016 MODEL YEAR VEHICLE IS ONLY ALLOWED TO CONSUME UP TO ONE QUART OF OIL PER 2,000 MILES DURING THE FIRST 50,000 MILES. JEEP SHOULD OBVIOUSLY BE PREPARING FOR A MASSIVE RECALL ISSUE HERE, AS THIS IS THE MOST COMMON ISSUE HERE FOR ALL JEEP CHEROKEE'S THAT HAVE THIS MODEL ENGINE.
ENGINE STALLS AND DIES WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. AFTER SHUTDOWN A MESSAGE ON THE DASH TELLS YOU TO PUT IT INTO PARK TO START THE CAR AGAIN, ENGINE WILL RESTART AFTER 2 MIN BUT WILL FAIL TO RESTART IF YOU TRY SOONER. VERY DANGEROUS, THIS HAS HAPPENED 6 TIMES NOW WHILE DRIVING. STARTED AT 33K MILES AND I AM NOW AT 42K, 1ST TIME DEALER SAID FILL UP OIL, 2ND TIME SERVICE DEPT SAID NOTHING WRONG BUT UPDATED SOFTWARE, 3RD TIME SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE AND NO IDEA BUT TOLD ME TO TRADE MY CAR IN FOR SOMETHING ELSE. VERY DANGEROUS AS HAS HAPPENED ON A FREEWAY WHILE MOVING, EACH TIME IS WITHOUT WARNING AND YOU LOSE ALL ENGINE AND POWER. *BF *DT*JB
A SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE. WE HAD IT SERVICED ONCE. WHAT HAPPENS IS THE LIGHT COMES ON AND ALL GEARS ARE LIT UP AS TO SAY YOU'RE IN ALL GEARS P,R,N,D....ETC. THE CAR AT TIMES WON'T PICK UP SPEED RIGHT AWAY AND ALSO PAUSES WHEN SHIFTING GEARS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE MESSAGE "SERVICE SHIFTER" ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS FAULTY. THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE CONTINUED TO DISPLAY. THE VEHICLE LATER STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THORNTON CHRYSLER JEEP (2980 CAPE CORN RD, RED LINE, PA) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
SHORTLY AFTER A RIGHT TURN INTO A SHORT STEEP UPHILL SECTION OF ROAD, THE CAR JUST DIED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS. THE DISPLAY MESSAGE SAID TO SHIFT INTO P THEN SELECT A GEAR. THE CAR HAD NO FUNCTIONALITY, IT WAS DEAD AND STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS TOWARDS THE INTERSECTION. PUT IN PARK AND TRIED TO RESTART - CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND WAS ABLE TO OPERATE FOOT BRAKE WHICH WAS ALSO UNRESPONSIVE TO THAT POINT - PANICKING THAT THE CAR WOULD ROLL ACROSS THE INTERSECTION INTO THE DITCH. CAR WOULD NOT HOWEVER START. AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND TRIES, THE CAR STARTED AND DROVE AS THOUGH NOTHING HAD HAPPENED AND NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DISPLAY. DROVE HOME FROM WORK AND TO THE DEALER, LIKE NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. BUT SCARED THAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT REPEAT AND DELIBERATELY TOOK BACKROADS JUST IN CASE. CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I'D TAKEN THE INTERSTATE AND THE PROBLEM REPEATED. AFTER GETTING HOME, FOUND THEY HAD CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE ABOUT THERE BEING NO OIL. CALLED BACK - LONG CONVERSATION: - THEY SAID THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK (SO WHY DID THE OIL LIGHT NOT COME ON?) - THEY HAD CHANGED THE OIL AND FILTER AND THE CAR WAS GOOD TO GO (REALLY?) - THEY RECOMMENDED BRINGING THE CAR BACK AFTER 1000 MILES TO CHECK OIL CONSUMPTION (SO IF THE CAR FOR WHATEVER REASON LOSES ITS OIL WILL IT REALLY BE SAFE TO DRIVE? COULD IT NOT HAPPEN THE NEXT MILE, THE 100TH MILE?) - THEY SAID THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF OIL LEAKS (YES, WE WOULD HAVE NOTICED OIL SPOTS ON THE FLOOR OF OUR GARAGE) - THEY SAID THERE MUST BE "INTERNAL CONSUMPTION" OF THE OIL (SO THERE SHOULD BE SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST, RIGHT? THERE WAS NOT) ..GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES. WHY DOES THE CAR STOP DEAD WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS. THE DEALER SAID THIS IS TO PROTECT THE CAR. WELL, THANK YOU CHRYSLER FOR CARING SO LITTLE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS THAT YOU PROTECT YOUR CAR FROM DAMAGE AT THE EXPENSE OF PEOPLE.
THE RPM'S ON THIS TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE GO UP VERY HIGH BUT THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE VEHICLE SPUTTERS AND SLOWS ON THE OPEN ROAD. THE ENGINE DOES RUN ON ALL CYLINDERS. THE ENGINE HAS NO POWER. THIS CREATES A SAFETY RISK ON A HIGHWAY. ALSO THE DIFFERENTIAL LOCKS UP WHEN YOU HAVE TO HIT THE BRAKES AND THREE REAR OF THE CAR LOCKS UP AND SKIDS LEFT OF CENTER. PARTY'S OF THE SUSPENSION HAVE BROKEN FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE LEFT REAR CONTROL ARM BROKE FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY A JEEP DEALERSHIP THAT THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS WITH CHRYSLER ON THREE OCCASIONS INFORMING THEM OF THE NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. I WAS ADVISED TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE AND THEY WOULD WORK WITH ME TO BUY THIS CAR BACK. I DID AS REQUESTED AND NOW BEING INFORMED I WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO GO TO ARBITRATION. THREE TIMES NOW WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES HARD ON A HIGHWAY THE EAST LOCKED UP AND THE LEFT REAR OF MY CAR SKIDDED AND I HAD NO CONTROL. I NEARLY HIT A RETAINING WALL. I HAVE A VEHICLE THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING.TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP. WAS 3 QUARTS LOW. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEIR HANDS ARE TIED, THAT THIS ENGINE USES ABOUT A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES BUT THE ENGINE IS DESIGNED TO SHUT OFF BEFORE IT WOULD BLOW ENGINE. MY HUSBAND TOLD THE DEALERSHIP THAT IF THEY PUT AN ENGINE IN A VEHICLE THAT USES OILS THIS WAY THEY SHOULD LET PEOPLE KNOW. WE HAVE TALKED TO CHRYSLER WITH NOTHING OTHER THAN HAVE AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE WHICH WE DID. WE NOW KEEP OIL AND CHECK ON A REGULAR BASIS
WHILE DRIVING IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. IT WOULD NOT START SO I HAD TO PUSH IT OFF THE ROAD. I'VE READ SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE NEW. SINCE HAVING IT THE PANEL WHICH DISPLAYS THE RADIO WILL RANDOMLY GO BLACK. I'VE ALSO HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION. SOMETIMES IF I'M AT A RED LIGHT AND THEN IT TURNS GREEN THE CAR WILL REV AND NOT MOVE ANYWHERE FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS. YESTERDAY WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY MY SPEED DROPPED FROM 60 TO 40 VERY FAST AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE AT ALL AND HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND MY TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. I'VE ALSO BEEN DRIVING BEFORE AND WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE IT MAKES A NOISE LIKE ITS SHIFTING SUPER LOUD AND THE BRAKE CLICKS. MY VEHICLE IS IN FOR SERVICE RIGHT NOW BUT I DONT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT AT ALL. IT ONLY HAS 16,000 MILES ON IT AND SHOULDN'T BE HAVING ALL OF THESE ISSUES WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. YESTERDAY NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY WAS SCARY AND DANGEROUS.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was a grinding sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who diagnosed that the PTU was faulty and needed to be replaced. The PTU was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The vehicle later experienced transmission failures and failed to properly accelerate or reverse as needed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message “Service 4WD” was displayed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 25,749.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COME ON WITH ALL GEARS LIGHTS ON WHEN DRIVING
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AN ENGINE WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH WITH THE MESSAGE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" AND MY SPEED IMMEDIATELY DROPPED AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING VEHICLES. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER. ONCE STOPPED THE MESSAGE WENT AWAY AND ACCELERATION WAS RESTORED, BUT MESSAGE OCCURRED AGAIN AND POWER WAS AGAIN LOST.
THE REAR HATCH WOULD NOT CLOSE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED HAD HAVE VEHICLE TOWED THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED HE HAD NO PROBLEM CLOSING THE HATCH PICKED UP VEHICLE TWO WEEKS LATER SAME PROBLEM
My Power Train Unit has failed to work properly and needs to be replaced. Several years prior to this occurring, my transmission kept skipping, jumping when I would accelerate from a stop, every time I took my vehicle to the dealership for this problem, it would not happen. They said, unless they personally witness this problem first hand, they could not repair my vehicle. My extended warranty has now expired. I believe the transmission skipping was the beginning of my PTU problem.
OVER THE LAST 2 WEEKS, WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP HAS LOST POWER. NO WARNING LIGHT OR ANYTHING, MY JEEP JUST DIES. IT WILL SAY "SHIFT INTO P, THEN SELECT GEAR" AFTER I HAVE LOST POWER. MY LIGHTS/RADIO/BLUETOOTH ALL STILL WORK, BUT I CAN NOT BREAK NOR ACCELERATE NOR STEER. I WAS NEARLY T-BONED THIS AM, AND NEARLY REAR ENDED LAST WEEK.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, AUTOMATIC 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO LOSE ALL ACCELERATION AT AROUND 60MPH. THE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" NOTIFICATION APPEARED ON THE DISPLAY, AND THE VEHICLE STARTED DECELERATING UNTIL IT WAS NECESSARY TO PULL OVER AND PARK. PROBLEM SEEMED FIXED AFTER AN ENGINE RESTART, BUT OCCURRED AGAIN AT HIGHER SPEED (60MPH). I DON'T KNOW WHY 2016 VEHICLES WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE S55 RECALL, IT IS THE SAME ISSUE.
FIRST THIS JEEP USES OIL FAST. I HAVE TO PUT OIL IN THE CAR WAY BEFORE IT'S DUE TO BE CH AGED. THE CAR WILL STALL AND STOP AND HAVE NO POWER. IT HAS SHUT OFF ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HWY AND WOULD NOT GO. I HAD TO CUT IT OFF AND BACK ON IT WOULD GO ABOUT 500 FEEL AND DO IT AGAIN. NOW THIS JEEP HAS LEFT ME STRANDED A FEW TIMES. IT JUST WOULD NOT CRANK. REPLACED BATTERY IN KEY FOB AND STILL NOTHING. THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY SHUT DOWN AND FLASH CODES. IT TOLD ME TO SERVICE TRANSMISSION ABOUT 54000 MILES AND WOULDN'T GO. BROUGHT IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY UPDATED IT BUT THOSE PROBLEMS ONLY FIXED IT FOR A FEW MONTHS. *TR
I don’t as on vacation in the Smokey Mountains. I turned a corner, heard a noise and my Jeep wouldn’t go anymore. Luckily there was a pullout near me and I coasted in. I had to walk about a mile to get a cell signal to call Jeep. A tow truck came 4 hours later and it took over 3 weeks to get repairs. The Power Transfer (a known defect) was the issue. It was replaced by Jeep under warranty. I only had a little over 26k miles on the vehicle at the time. It was dangerous because had a I been higher up in the mountains or on an interstate, it could have cost me my life. Additionally, I was alone and the Knoxville TN dealership where the vehicle was towed was absolutely NO HELP whatsoever & rude to boot!
WHEN DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 70 MPH THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON, DISABLING ACCELERATION AND PUTTING THE CAR INTO 8TH GEAR. THIS CAUSES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE THE CAR SPEED DECREASES INSTANTLY AND REQUIRES THE CAR TO PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF ROAD AND TURN THE CAR OFF THEN ON. CHRYSLER IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THESE VEHICLES. INSTEAD THEY CHOOSE TO PUT CUSTOMERS IN THE DANGEROUS SITUATION OF DISABLING A VEHICLE AT HIGH SPEEDS.
AFTER I START THE CAR UP IN THE MORNING OR AFTER IT HAS SAT FOR AWHILE, IT WILL RUN FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND THEN THE ENGINE WILL COMPLETELY DIE, THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON AND THE SCREEN SAYS "SHIFT TO P THEN DESIRED GEAR". WHEN IT DOES THIS, I LOSE THROTTLE POWER, BREAKS AND STEERING. I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRY TO TURN IT OFF, WHEN I TRY AND TURN IT OFF IT CRANKS LIKE IT IS TRYING TO START AND WON'T. AFTER I GET THE CAR TURNED OFF AND GO TO TURN IT BACK ON, IT CRANKS REALLY HARD FOR ABOUT 45 SECONDS BEFORE STARTING. THEN IT SMELLS LIKE SOMETHING IS BURNING, IT WILL DO THIS 4-5 TIMES BEFORE IT STARTS RUNNING OK. IT HAS DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION, WITH THE STERRING LOCKING UP AND THE THROTTLE LOSING POWER, THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT.

HAVING TO QUICKLY STOP IN INCOMING TRAFFIC, PUT INTO PARK, SHUT OFF ENGINE AND RESTART TO WORK. WHEN MAKING SMALLER TURNS THE SYSTEM DINGS AS IF A MESSAGE ALERT WILL APPEAR BUT NOTHING SHOWS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER FOR THE RECENT FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO KEEP AN EYE ON THE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,551.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,696.

IF YOU STOP SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART, IT CLEARS. IT STARTED DOING THIS 6-9 MONTHS AGO ONCE IN A WHILE BUT NOW DOES IT SEVERAL TIMES A DAY DEPENDING ON AMOUNT OF DRIVING. WE BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO CODES OR PHYSICAL PROBLEMS BUT COULD REPLACE THE SHIFTER TO SEE IF THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. WE ELECTED NOT TO DO THIS AT THE PRESENT TIME. WE HAVE HEARD OF ACCIDENTS FROM THIS SO WE JUST WANTED TO NOTIFY YOU THAT IT IS HAPPENING. WE WOULD LIKE TO ADDRESS THIS BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURS.
WHEN I START MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE AND PUT IT IN 1 SEC GEARKL ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY SHIFTER LIGHT UP AND STAY LIT. A MESSAGE ON MY DASH BOARD SAYS "SERVICE SHIFTER". I TRIED TURNING THE JEEP OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON BUT ALL THE LIGHTS STILL STAY ON.
DEFECTIVE HEADLAMPS CAUSING PREMATURE LOW BEAM BURN OUT. REPLACED THE LEFT HEADLAMP 3/8/2018 AND THE RIGHT 5/9/2018. THE LEFT LOW BEAM HEADLAMP HAS NURNED OUT AGAIN AFTER ONLY 5 MONTHS AND REQUIRES REPLACEMENT. THIS IS HIGHLY IRREGULAR.
THE FIRST DAY I HAD THE CAR I TOOK IT BACK COMPLAINING OF SOME KIND OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. THEY SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. IN AUGUST OF THIS YEAR I TOOK A ROAD TRIP DURING THE TRIP A SMELL THE SCENT OF RAID OVER POWERED THE CAR AND IS STILL PRESENT IN THE CAR TODAY SO BAD AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY EIGHT HOURS.ON THAT TRIP AND I FELT AS IF I WAS GONNA PASS OUT. DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO THE SMELL IS STILL IN THE CAR. I ONLY DRIVE TO THE STORE AND BACK NOW.
ALL THE RED LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIGHT UP THEN A "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE SHOWS UP ON THE SCREEN. WHEN ALL THE LIGHTS LIGHT UP YOU CANNOT MOVE THE SHIFTER AT ALL. WE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY BECAUSE THE BATTERY WAS TOTALLY DEAD FROM SOMETHING DRAWING POWER AFTER THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF. THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIGHT UP AT ANY RANDOM TIME. WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING, YOU HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD TURN THE CAR OFF TAKE THE KEY OUT WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND THEN START THE CAR AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT TAKES MORE THAN ONCE TO DO THIS. THE SHIFTER CANNOT BE MOVED WHEN THE RED LIGHT ARE ALL ON. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW BUT HAS BECOME ALMOST AN EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE
2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE 4X4 (25K MILES) WILL STALL OR LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING. HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN PAST FEW MONTHS. NOTICED FIRST WHEN HAD TROUBLE STARTING IN THE MORNING A FEW TIMES (AFTER A RECENT OIL CHANGE). WHILE DRIVING, JEEP LATITUDE 4X4 WILL JUMP INTO GEAR WHILE SLOWING JOLTING THE CAR FORWARD, TEMPORARILY LOSE POWER (RPM DROP, AND MPH DROP), OR COMPLETELY LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING (HAPPENED ON BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAY). COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE TURNING, COMING AROUND TURN, INDICATOR WILL DING THEN SUDDENLY STEERING STIFFENS, NO POWER FROM GAS PEDAL, AND CAR SLOWS TO STOP. ONCE STOPPED, MESSAGE SCREEN DISPLAYS 'SHIFT CAR TO P THEN TO DESIRED GEAR' I THEN HAVE TO SHIFT CAR TO PARK AND RESTART (SOMETIMES TAKING 3 OR 4 ATTEMPTS). THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO HIGHWAY (COMING AROUND BEND OF ON RAMP) LUCKILY THERE WAS A LARGE SHOULDER AND LITTLE TRAFFIC TO PULL OVER SAFELY. THIS POSES AN IMMEDIATE RISK OF SAFETY OF NOT ONLY MYSELF, BUT PASSENGERS AND OTHER VEHICLES. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN AT A BUSY INTERSECTION, HIGHWAY, OR DANGEROUS ROAD CONDITIONS (LOW VISIBILITY, SLICK SURFACE, ETC) AND ACCIDENT WILL OCCUR. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE.

I BOUGHT NEW JEEP CHEROKEE 2016 3.2 L IN SEP. 2016. WAS VERY HAPPY FOR FIRST FEW MONTHS AND THEN I NOTICED I GOT JERK WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP GUY BUT, HE SAID THAT'S NORMAL IT HAPPENED BECAUSE OF AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. AFTER COUPLE A MONTHS I GOT SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT ON. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY UPDATED SOFTWARE. IT WAS BACK UP AGAIN WITH IN A WEEK SO I DECIDED TO CHANGE THE DEALERSHIP. I WENT ANOTHER JEEP DEALERSHIP GOT ERROR CODE AND FIX IT. IT WAS WORKING FINE FOR AT LEAST THREE MONTHS AND I GOT BACK SERVICE SHIFTER SIGN BUT, THIS TIME IT WAS WITH SERVICE FORWARD SIGN TOO. THEY FIX IT BUT BECAUSE OF THAT MY BREAK PADS WAS WORN DOWN AND IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET.AFTER A WEEK I GOT SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT ON. I HAVE TO TOW MY CAR AND DROP AT THE DEALERSHIP. THEY FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THE ALL PROBLEM BACK UP AGAIN. I GOT THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT ON, MY CAR IS GETTING STARTED JERKING AND CREATE A SOUND WHEN I WAS BREAK HARD. SO GUYS I AM VERY FRUSTRATED WITH MY JEEP CHEROKEE.

I BROUGHT IT INTO THE SHOP THREE (3) TIMES WITH THE SAME ISSUE (LATE DATE 8/2/18), LAST TIME I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE $380.00 TO REPLACE A HARNESS FOR SOME KIND OF CABLE AND THEY NEEDED TO ORDER PARTS. STILL WAITING FOR THE CALL FROM THE SHOP WITH A DATE TO REPLACE THE HARNESS.

THE SHIFT REPORTS SERVICE SHIFTER ALL THE LIGHTS TURN ON, HAS NOT SHIFTED ON US
THIS EVENING I WAS DRIVING MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WHEN IT SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE OR ADEQUATELY TURN. I WAS BEGINNING TO ACCELERATE AFTER HAVING BEEN STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN. I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN APPROXIMATELY 20 AND 30 MPH WHEN MY VEHICLE LOST POWER. MY MUSIC CONTINUED TO PLAY, MY DIGITAL SCREEN HOUSING THE SPEED REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND I NOTICED THE BATTERY LIGHT WAS ON. I DID NOT NOTICE A MESSAGE ON THIS SCREEN BUT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN ONE. I WAS MORE FOCUSED ON GETTING MY VEHICLE OFF OF THE ROAD SINCE IT WAS NO LONGER MOVING. LUCKILY THERE WAS A PARKING LOT APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET AHEAD. I WAS ABLE TO COAST MY CAR INTO THE PARKING LOT. STEERING WAS DIFFICULT BUT MANAGEABLE. ONCE IN THE PARKING LOT I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. I WAITED A MOMENT AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN IT BACK ON. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO BUCK/SHAKE AND MADE A NOISE AS IF IT WAS TRYING TO START BUT NOT ABLE TO. THE DIGITAL MONITOR FLICKERED ON AND FINALLY THE ENGINE TURNED OVER AND THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING. I LEFT IT RUNNING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND THEN TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED WITH NO PROBLEMS AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK TO MY HOME APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES FROM WHERE THIS OCCURRED. THIS WAS TERRIFYING. WHAT WOULD I HAVE DONE IF I WAS ON AN INTERSTATE OR HIGHWAY AND TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY? AFTER THIS INCIDENT AND PRIOR TO FILING THIS COMPLAINT, I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND SEVERAL VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE SHOWING EXACTLY WHAT I EXPERIENCED. I HAVE ALSO READ COMPLAINTS ON VARIOUS FORUMS (ONE TITLED JEEP FORUM) DESCRIBING THE SITUATION I EXPERIENCED. I DO NOT FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE OR CAN BE TRUSTED WITH MY LIFE OR OTHERS. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.
