Car consistently has airbag lights going on and off with no clear reason. The dealer “fixed” it and said that there was a loose connection and the cleaned it and fixed it. Cost me $200 and within a week it was back to intermittently turning on and off
Vehicle has approximately 40,000 miles and the "service shifter" light has come on about 6 times. Each time, if the vehicle is turned off & restarted, the light doesn't come back on for a few weeks. It has never come on while driving. This condition has not been replicated by a dealer or mechanic. The vehicle seems to drive fine.
Everytime we drive our vehicle for longer than 10 minutes a warning indicator light comes on which says "service shifter". All the lights on the shifter come on and you can no longer tell when you are in drive, park, etc. When you turn the vehicle off the system resets, but it will come back on again. The dealership inspected it and found no fix for the issue. To me, this seems highly irresponsible and reckless to allow something like this to occur in a vehicle. Numerous people with Jeep Cherokees have experienced the same thing and I believe there needs to be a recal related to the shifting/electrical system.
POWER TRANSFER UNIT FAILED , 2014-2017 MODELS THE SAME AS MINE HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS VERY TYPE OF FAILURE. MY 2018 WAS BUILD WITH EXACT SAME PTU ASSEMBLY. I THINK MINE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL WAS DRIVING TO STORE ON HWY 26 8 MILES WEST OF SWAN VALLEY IDAHO, CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 65 MPH , LOUD BANG, LOST ALL FORWARD MOTION,COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD, PUT IN PARK AND VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO DIRT ON SIDE OF HWY, BRAKED AND SET PARK BRAKE, CALLED TOW TRUCK AND VEHICLE IS AT LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP, COULD HAVE KILLED ME IF CONDITIONS WERE DIFFERENT.
"SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING COMES UP ON THE DASH AT DIFFERENT TIMES. IT MAY BE AT START UP OR WHILE DRIVING. IT'S A SERIOUS PROBLEM. YOU HAVE A MINIMUM OF 400 COMJLAINTS ALREADY. JUST BOUGHT THIS 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE ON 5/8/2021 AND WE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS ALREADY. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM, OR IS IT THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FIX IS? MANY OF THE OWNERS OF THESE CAR ARE STUCK IN A CIRCLE JERK...DEALER SAYS IT DOESNT EXSIST AND YET IT KEEPS HAPPENING. PLEASE INVESTAGATE THIS PROBLEM AND FORCE THE MANUFACTURE TO FIND THE FIX. I KNOW MY DEALER KNEW OF THE PROBLEM BUT ELECTS NOT TO ADMIT IT. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT DOES NOT THROW A CODE SO NOTHING SHOWS UP. I CHECKED MINE TWICE WITH MY OBD READER AND I EVEN DROVE AROUND WITH IT CONNECTED TO SEE IF IT WAS A DRIVABLITY PROBLEM BUT THAT PRODUCED NOTHING. VERY SORRY THAT I PURCHASED THIS CAR! NEVER OWN A CHRYS. PRODUCT AGAIN.....AND I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER CAR FROM THIS DEALER.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE CITY STREET COMING TO A STOP SIGN. I STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN AND WHEN I WENT TO PULL OUT, THE CAR SLOWED DOWN, PUTTERED AND THE ACCELERATED MORE THAN I GAVE IT GAS TO. THEN I GO TO THE GAS STATION & PULLIN INTO THE PARKING LOT, THE PARKING LOT HAS SOMEWHAT OF A STEEP INCLINE, WHEN I GO TO PULL IN, THE CAR PUTTERED AND THE DIES . AND THATS WHEN THE SERVICE SHIFTER CAME ON . I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS OF THE SERVICE SHIFTER BUT THAT DIDNT WORK. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON, IT STARTED UP FINE AND THE SERVICE SHIFTER TURNED OFF.
MY JEEP WOULDNT START(05/04/2021) SO I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY (05/05/2021).BUT I NOTICE TODAY (05/06/2021)THAT THE CLOCK HAD RESET ON IT OWN( SO I GOT TO NE LOSING POWER) AND MY SERVICE SHIFTER CAME ON AA WELL WHILE IN MOTION
I was getting a service shifter light and called the dealer and the said it was a recall it needed a system reboot to bring it in. I did. But that did not fix the problem the light is still on and after doing research it really is the wiring for the shifter. Which can cause the vehicle to not signal what gear it is in. My car had failed to to indicate which gear it has been in multiply times.
AT RANDOM TIMES THE MESSAGE "SERVICE SHIFTER" APPEARS, AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER TURN RED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT A DOZEN TIME AND HAS HAPPENED WHEN IN DRIVE(ON HIGHWAY AND STREETS) AND WHEN IN PARK. IF I TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARS. FROM ALL THE RESEARCH I'VE DONE IT APPEARS TO BE HAPPENING TO A LOT OF JEEP (2014-2019) OWNERS. SEEMS VERY DANGEROUS!!!
DURING TRANSIT DOWN THE STREET AND ONCE THE CAR TURNED ON IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE SHIFTER COLUMN LIGHTS ARE LIT UP IN RED, THE DASH READS SERVICE SHIFTER. PLEASE HELP US AND OTHERS RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AS IT IS A HIT AND MISS WITH THE DEALERSHIPS AND JEEP STATING THAT IT IS NOT AN ISSUE ENOUGH TO CALL IT A RECALL WHEN THERE ARE DOZENS IF NOT HUNDREDS WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
MY 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE HAS LESS THAN 18,000 MILES ON IT AND OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST FEW MONTHS, THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE APPEARED ON MY DASHBOARD AND THE TREE LIGHTS WERE ALL LIT UP. I PARKED THE CAR, TURNED IT OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND TURNED IT BACK ON. LIGHTS AND MESSAGE WAS GONE. THIS HAPPENED ONCE AFTER THAT - ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER - AND SAME THING, I WAS ABLE TO RESET IT BY TURNING IT OFF AND ON. TODAY THE MESSAGE APPEARED ON MY DASHBOARD AND WOULD NOT GO AWAY. I DROVE STRAIGHT HOME (ABOUT 3 MILES), PULLED IN TO MY DRIVEWAY AND IT WOULD NOT GO IN TO PARK OR NEUTRAL - IT STAYED IN DRIVE. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF BUT NOT EXTRACT THE KEY NOR COULD I START THE CAR AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING EVERY TIME THE WARNING LIGHT AND TREE LIGHTS CAME ON. TODAY THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET MY KEY OUT WAS TO USE THE MANUAL SHIFTER AND TRY TO REMEMBER THE SHIFTING PATTERN! I EVENTUALLY FIGURED IT OUT AND WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY. THE DEALER CAN'T TELL ME IF MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERS IT BUT WANTS ME TO DRIVE IT OVER TO THEM ABOUT 15 MILES AWAY. I AM READING THAT COST IS ANYWHERE BETWEEN $400-$1,000 AND DAYS WITHOUT A VEHICLE. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF POSTS CITING THE SAME ISSUE ON CARGURU'S WEBSITE. THIS REALLY NEEDS INVESTIGATED FOR A RECALL. WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE PARKING BREAK CAME ON AND WOULD NOT RELEASE.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY WHEN MY VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP IT STALLS OR WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED. UPON CHECKING THE OIL IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS NOT EVEN A QUART LEFT NO INDICATOR LIGHT NO OIL CHANGE NOTIFICATION; I HADN'T YET REACHED THE MONTHS OR MILEAGE ON THE STICKER RECOMMEND BY THE MECHANIC SHOP WHERE I GET MY OIL CHANGED,
AT VARIOUS TIMES, EITHER STARTING THE CAR OR RESTARTING THE CAR, NOT ALL THE TIME, THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT WILL ILLIMUNATE ON THE SCREEN BLOCKING OUT THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER AND LIGHTING UP THE SHIFTER TO ALL RED. AFTER SHUTTING DOWN THE CAR AND RESTARTING (SOMETIMES) THE LIGHT WILL GO OUT AND THE CAR WILL RUN FINE. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE IT IS NOT COVERED BY EITHER THE BASIC WARRANTY OR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THE RESOLUTION IS TO CHANGE THE WHOLE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF OVER $600.00.
STALLS WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD! I PULL OVER RESTART!
Starting in early 2021, I had my Jeep serviced, and noted a constant banging noise and feeling while driving my car. It was inspected (for lots of money) and test driven. I was told the noise is "normal." As time went on, it progressively got louder, more vibrating, and more frequent. I noted this as a continuing concern--I was told "it is normal for this vehicle." I just spoke with the dealership again, in light of the Transfer Case recall (25V011), and when he looked at my history, he said I needed to immediately call Mopar. Because there is not one moment my car isn't banging while it's in "drive," he said it was a serious issue and I shouldn't wait for the "parts to be available." He also apologized that I was told several times that something like this is normal. I called Mopar today and spoke with "Kate" at 1:29 PST on 1/29/2025. She noted the lack of parts and a plan. When I explained that my car has active issues she said, "let me transfer you to the recall department." I thought Kate was in the recall department! She then transferred me to the original calling system, and I got nowhere. So I am emailing you to inform you that my vehicle has a constant banging noise consistent with your recall, based on a Jeep dealership's assessment and my brief call with Kate at Mopar. It was also noted by one of Jeeps' service techs, today that I should contact Mopar for immediate next steps; that he believe my vehicle could immediately become catastrophic. Mopar provided me with no additional remedies or steps. This is my sole mode of transportation and I live in a rural, hilly community. Legally, I need to document my attempts to remedy this, in the event that the vehicle does harm or kill someone--because, as noted in the recall and at the Jeep service center, even park can fail and run someone over.
MY VEHICLE TOLD ME TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND THEN PARK WHILE I WAS AT A RED LIGHT. I DID THAT AND MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. I LEFT IT IN PARK AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF BUT IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I SAT AT THE LIGHT WITH MY HAZARDS ON FOR ABOUT 2 MIN, I TRIED TO TURN IT ON AGAIN AND IT STRUGGLED BUT IT ENDED UP TURNING ON. 3 DAYS LATER AT THE SAME LIGHT ON MY WAY TO WORK THE BATTERY LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND BEEPING, MY ENGINE LIGHT TURNED, AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT TURNED ON. IT WOULDN'T LET ME DRIVE BUT 5 MPH. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. LATER THAT DAY WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP NONE OF THOSE LIGHTS WERE ON AND I WAS TOLD "THERE'S NOTHING WRONG" WITH MY JEEP. I'M SO FRUSTRATED BECAUSE CLEARLY THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG.
'SERVICE SHIFTER' MESSAGE APPEARS ON SCREEN AND ALL LIGHTS ON SHIFTER LIGHT UP. GOES AWAY AFTER TURNING OFF CAR AND TURNING BACK ON. WHEN MESSAGE APPEARS, CANNOT VIEW DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER OR OTHER CAR DIAGNOSTICS. DEALER DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS.
MESSAGE "SERVICE SHIFTER" DISPLAYS ON SCREEN AND RED LIGHTS LIGHT-UP ALONG THE SHIFTER... OCCURS WHEN JEEP IS STATIONARY, IN DRIVEWAY OR PARKING LOTS - MULTIPLE TIMES. DEALERSHIP SAYS ITS NOT PART OF THE POWER TRAIN...? AND SUPPOSEDLY NEVER HEARD OF THIS MESSAGE....? THE CAR IS NOT SAFE AS WHEN THIS MESSAGE COMES UP YOU CANNOT MANUALLY SELECT GEARS, AND NEITHER CAN YOU ACCESS KEY INFORMATION LIKE TIRE PRESSURE, COOLANT/OIL/TRANSMISSION TEMPS, OIL LIFE, BATTERY VOLTAGE, FUEL ECONOMY, TRIP INFO. IT ALSO DISABLES THE ABILITY TO GET TO SCREEN SETUP,.
ON MARCH 14TH WHILE SLOWING AND TURNING RIGHT ON A STATE MAINTAINED COUNTRY ROAD, THE VEHICLE ENGINE STALLED AND POWER STEERING WAS OUT WITH THE BATTERY LIGHT ON.. VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS AFTER PUTTING IT BACK INTO PARK. ON MARCH 16TH WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE VEHICLE STALLED AT A STOP LIGHT IN THE SAME MANNER DESCRIBED ABOVE ON US HWY 421. IT TOOK 4 ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. CURRENTLY THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT RECREATE THE STALL AND WILL BE SENDING US ON OUR WAY WITH THIS VEHICLE UNREPAIRED. MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FOUND IN A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION AND WILL POSSIBLE CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO THE DRIVER AND OCCUPANTS.
VEHICLE IS STALLING DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION.....NO OIL INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON. BUT VEHICLE EVEN WHEN OIL INDICATOR GAGE SAYS THERE IS OIL....THE OIL IS LOW AND CAUSES STALLING. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE FOR EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. STALLS WHEN VEHICLE IS STATIONARY IN TRAFFIC. BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL AND TO CHANGE OIL EVERY 3000. THUIS DOES NOT FIX THE UNDERLYING ISSUE. READING ONLINE THERE SEEMS TO BE A CLASS ACTION SUIT AND DEALERSHIPS ARE NOT HELPFUL WITH THIS ISSUE. NERVOUS TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCE ESPECIALLY WHEN NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATE TO LET YOU KNOW YOU ARE LOW ON OIL.
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING ON DASH. I'VE ALREADY HAD THIS SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY ONCE AND THE LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING BACK ON AGAIN. EVIDENTLY, THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM FROM WHAT I'M SEEING AND IT WOULD BE NICE IF JEEP OWNERS DIDN'T HAVE TO CONTINUE TO SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE MANUFACTURER'S SHORT COMINGS. THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS. JUST HAD TO HAVE MY OIL RECALL ADDRESSED BECAUSE THEY CLEARLY CAN'T BUILD CARS PROPERLY. A RECALL WOULD BE FABULOUS SO WE DON'T HAVE TO KEEP FORKING OUT MONEY ON THINGS WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO.
I HAVE OIL LEAKING FROM BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND CYLINDER HEAD WHICH HAS LEAKED ENOUGH TO COAT THE ENGINE BLOCK AND IS ALSO LOSING COOLANT. DEALER DIAGNOSED AS A SEEPAGE SAYS IS NORMAL AND SAYS CHRYSLER WON'T FIX IT. SO ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER YOUR 2.4 ENGINE IS SUPPOSED TO LEAK AND BURN OIL. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while idling at a stop light, the vehicle rolled backwards. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 43,000. The VIN was not available.
THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AT 74,000 MILES AND AGAIN AT 77,000 MILES WHILE IN MOTION.
MY SENSORS ONLY WORK SOMETIMES, MY KEY FOB ONLY WORKS WHEN IT WANTS. IT'S STARTING TO HAVE ISSUES. MY JEEP STOPPED WORKING ON THE HIGHWAY ALL OF A SUDDEN
WHILE DRIVING ABS, CHECK ENGINE, PARKING BRAKE LIGHT UP. BRAKES START TO SHAKE LIKE IF A TIRE IS SLIPPING BUT ITS NOT. STEERING WHEEL GETS STIFF. TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD, ALL SYMPTOMS GO AWAY IF THE CAR IS WARM SOMETIMES. ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO PREDICT WHEN IT WILL START DOING ALL OF THESE SYMPTOMS AT ONCE. WE HAVE NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE UP TO HIGH SPEEDS UNTIL WE TAKE IT TO GET CHECKED OUT BY THE DEALER.
CAR TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING. NO MAINTENANCE INDICATION ON DASH. I CHECK THE OIL AND THERE IS NO OIL EVEN AFTER A RECENT OIL CHANGE. ALL MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN WITH THE SAME DEALERSHIP CAR SERVICE. THIS HAS OCURRED 5 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE. CAR SERVICE TEAM HAS CHANGED MAINTENANCE FREQUENCY TO EVERY 1300 MILES TO MONITOR OIL CONSUMPTION BUT HAVE NOT DETERMINED ROOT CAUSE. AGAIN, THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING (ALL 5 TIMES) ON CITY STREETS.
THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" DISPLAY COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY DURING STARTUP AND WHEN PULLING IN TO A PARKING AREA. THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE PLACED IN PARK, SHUT OFF AND THEN RESTARTED. HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED AND NO ODB CODE SHOWN IN MEMORY AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE BY OWNERS BUT DEALERS CLAIM TO HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM.
BOUGHT IT 6WEEKS AGO THE NEXT DAY THE SERVICE GEAR SHIFTER LIGHT CANE ON PULLING OUT MY DRIVEWAY AT 6 AM LATER THAT EVENING IT CAME ON AGAIN DRIVING TO THE GROCERY STORE .. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER IT CAME ON AGAIN .. IT COMES ON RANDOMLY AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE GEAR SHIFT ARE LIT UP RED .. I HAVE TO TURN MY JEEP OFF AND ON TO MAKE THE LIGHTS TO GO BACK TO NORMAL AND TAKE THE SERVICE GEAR SHIFTER NOTIFICATION OFF .. IT EVEN COMES ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY
In early 2021, the doorhandle on the driver's side of my car froze in minimal snow/freezing rain. The electronics in the doorhandle were corrupted, and broke. This cause a short in the system, making my car lock and unlock itself uncontrolled, thereby draining the battery. The car could not be jumpstarted for this reason because the battery was perpetually drained. It required being towed, and the remedy took several months. This is completely unreasonable, for a small freeze to totally "brick" an off-road vehicle because of a doorhandle issue.
DISPLAY INDICATES "SERVICE SHIFTER" AND ALL LIGHTS ON GEAR SELECTOR ARE LIT (PRND). THIS OCCURRED AT 30,000 MILES (CODE U1465 AND P1C86-1D) AND WAS SERVICED BY THE DEALER. DEALER REPLACED THE SHIFTER. ISSUE IS REOCCURRING AT 50,000 MILES.
SINCE WE BOUGHT IT NEW, IT HAS STALLED WHEN TURNING (USUALLY LEFT) WHEN THE OIL LEVEL GETS LOW. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PUT OIL IN IT FREQUENTLY AND THAT THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF IS A SAFETY MECHANISM. THE PROBLEM IS, THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT THE OIL LEVEL IS LOW. SO UNLESS I KEEP TRACK OF HOW MANY MILES I HAVE DRIVEN, THE JEEP WILL JUST QUIT ON ME. I HAVE DEALT WITH THE ISSUE UNTIL RECENTLY WHEN I CAME WITHIN INCHES OF GETTING SLAMMED ON MY PASSENGER DOOR BECAUSE I STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IF A LOW OIL LIGHT CAME ON, I WOULD OBVIOUSLY HAVE MORE OIL PUT IN, BUT I GET NO WARNING AT ALL. IT JUST QUITS. USUALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE ENCLOSED PICTURES ARE OF WHEN I HAD TO PUT OIL IN IT IN NOVEMBER. THE LAST EPISODE OF ALMOST GETTING HIT HAPPENED ON JAN 16.
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING COMES ON VERY OFTEN WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE.
I HAVE A 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE SERVICE SHIFTER KEEPS COMING ON AND ALL THE GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS ARE LIT UP. THE CAR WILL STALL OR COMPLETELY STOP OPERATING WHEN THIS OCCURS. IT OCCURS WHEN I AM DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC, HIGHWAY TRAFFIC OR STATIONARY.
SERVICE SHIFTER ILLUMINATES ON DASH AND ALL AUTO TRANSMISSION GEARS ON SHIFTER ILLUMINATE. OCCURS WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION. HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES IN PAST WEEK. SEARCH OF INTERNET SHOWS THIS IS VERY COMMON AMONG THESES VEHICLES
I WAS IN DRIVE AND SITTING AT A LIGHT, I HEARD A DING AND SAW THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING HAD COME ON. WHEN I LOOKED DOWN AT THE SHIFTER ALL THE GEARS WERE LIT UP RED INSTEAD OF JUST THE GEAR I WAS IN.
Service shifter light came on and gear shift lights are all red,P,R,N,D. Took it in and they said it was the shifter harness and they changed it. Didn’t have the issue for a while and it started again January & February 2021, September 2022, June 2023, August 2023, and now ever day in 2024. Have to turn off vehicle and restart. Took to dealer and they said that it’s the shifter harness after they already had changed it. Please help, cause when driving, you can’t figure out in what gear it in and you can’t see your speedometer’s speed. Thanks!
ATTEMPTED TO ACTIVATE THE ELECTRONIC RANGE SELECT (ERS) WHILE DRIVING. IMMEDIATELY, ALL OF THE PRNDL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED RED AND THE DASH DISPLAYED THE MESSAGE "SHIFTER SERVICE". MOVING THE SHIFTER BACK TO FULLY AUTOMATIC DID NOT CLEAR THE ERROR OR THE PRNDL LIGHTS. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE, TURNED IT OFF, THEN RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND THE ERROR CLEARED.
AT 33050 SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING CAME UP ALL LIGHS ON THE SHIFTER WERE ON. TURNED CAR OFF SAT A MOMENT AND THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING WAS GONE. WE WERE ON A CITY STREET PUT THE JEEP IN REVERSE WHEN THIS HAPPENED VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY BEING PUT INT REVERSE
AT 26,000 MILES ON MY 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK, THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON.
I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TWO TIMES FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT HAVE REPLACED THE BLOWER THE FILTERS AND SO ON. EVERY TIME THE AC OR HEAT COMES ON THE CAR STARTS SHAKING AND JERKING WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING BACK IN TO POST THE VEHICLE STARTED JERKING WHILE IN MOTION AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAVE SPENT A TILE OF ABOUT 700-800$ ON THIS PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING THAT THE DEALERSHIP CAN NOT FIX.
WE WERE TRAVELING IN OUR 2018 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE AND AT A RED LIGHT, THE CAR JUST TURNED OFF. WE HAD TO SIT FOR AWHILE AND THEN RESTART IT BY PUTTING ON THE BRAKE AND SOME OTHER THING. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND IT RAN FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. THEN, IT STOPPED WHILE WE WERE AT A RED LIGHT AGAIN! IT ONLY RESTARTED AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY TWICE. WE AREN'T SPENDING MONEY ON A NEW BATTERY UNTIL WE KNOW EXACTLY WHAT'S WRONG.
MY CAR WENT DEAD WHILE DRIVING. TOOK TO THE SHOP AND SAID THERE WAS A "SOFTWARE UPDATE/RECALL" THAT CAUSED THE CAR TO USE MORE OIL THAN NORMAL AND I WAS DRIVING WITH NO OIL!!!!! THIS "RECALL" UPDATE HAD BEEN RELEASED "6 DAYS AGO" PER MY DODGE/CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. WHY IS THIS RECALL NOT HERE? SOUNDS VERY STRANGE TO ME.
ON 12/15/20 I DROVE LESS THAN 1 MI. DOWNHILL, STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN & THE ENGINE QUIT & BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. ENGINE RESTARTED ABOUT 5 MIN. I WAS LOW ON GAS, SO GAS WAS ADDED & I FILLED TANK. THE ENGINE QUIT THE NEXT DAY AT THE SAME SPOT. IT RESTARTED AFTER A FEW TRIES. THE BATTERY INDICATOR SHOWED IT HAD A CHARGE & OIL WAS GOOD. REPEAT STALLING AT SAME SPOT ON 12/24/20 AND ON 1/2/2021. VERY CONCERNING AS I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND COULD EASILY BE HIT. I HAD 27,000 & CURRENTLY HAVE 35693 MILES. THIS VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BEFORE I GOT IT AND IS TOO NEW TO BE HAVING PROBLEMS.
THE SHIFTER KEEP SAYING THAT IT NEEDS TO BE SERVICED THE CAR ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES ON IT . I HAVE SPOKEN WITH OTHER JEEP OWNERS AND THEY SAY THAT THEY HAVE HAS THE SAME ISSUE
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON ON DASH AFTER I STARTED MY JEEP, ALSO ALL THE RED LIGHTS NEXT TO THE SHIFTER WERE LIT UP. WOULD NOT TURN OFF UNTIL RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. HAVE READ MANY JEEP OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR CHEROKEES. SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED BY JEEP!
ALL THE ENGINE OIL LEAKED OUT OF THE CAR AND STARTED TO SMOKE WHILE I WAS IN MOTION AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BUT WAS PERFECTLY FINE AT FIRST. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAD HAPPENED BUT MY ENGINE IS NOW MESSING UP AND I ALMOST GOT IN A CAR ACCIDENT.
I CONTINUE TO GET A SERVICE SHIFTER ISSUE. VEHICLE HAS 13,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ACROSS MULTIPLE YEARS OF CHEROKEES. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A BATTERY PROBLEM BUT AFTER A NEW BATTERY, I STILL RECEIVE THE WARNING. WARNING CAME ON WHILE PARKED, JUST AFTER STARTUP.
WHILE DRIVING THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. WHEN I STARTED MY VEHICLE THE NOTICE WAS GONE BUT RETURNED SEVERAL DAYS LATER. WHEN I GOOGLE WHAT A SERVICE SHIFTER WAS I SAW ALOT OF COMPLAINTS BY OTHER JEEP OWNERS. I THOUGHT I SHOULD ADD MY COMPLAINT TO THE LIST. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS ISSUE.
