PROBLEM WITH MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER ENGINE STALLING. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 3-4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY IN A PARKING LOT. THE ENGINE JUST COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND NOTHING WORKS, INCLUDING THE STEERING. EACH TIME IT HAS HAPPENED I HAVE BEEN GOING AT A SLOW SPEED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MY DEALER WHO SAYS THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT ( BOB SCHWARTZ-BUNKER HILL INDIANA).I AM GOING TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN TO SEE IF THEY CAN POSSIBLY FIX THIS PROBLEM NOW SINCE THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER COMMANDER OWNERS COMPLAIN. I AM REALLY AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE NOW ESPECIALLY WITH MY KIDS. IF JEEP IS AWARE OF THESE COMPLAINTS, THEY NEED TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE 2006 & 2007 MODELS ALSO INSTEAD OF JUST THE 2008. IF THIS WOULD HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, IT WOULD HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN DEADLY!!! PLEASE HELP. *TR
2007 JEEP COMMANDER. SIX MONTHS AFTER THE PURCHASE OF A NEW JEEP COMMANDER THE JEEP STARTED LOSING POWER AND STALLING. IT DIDN'T MATTER WHAT SPEED THE JEEP WAS GOING. IT HAS STALLED AND LOST POWER AND ALL ELECTRONICS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC AND CRUISING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THE JEEP WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE JUNCTION BOX WAS REPLACED. NUMEROUS TESTS WERE COMPLETED BUT NO DEFINITIVE REASON WAS FOUND FOR THE STALLING. I WAS TOLD THE JEEP WAS FIXED. THE JEEP HAS SINCE STALLED 3 MORE TIMES, ONE TIME WITH WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND MY DAUGHTERS AGES 4 AND 7 WERE ONBOARD. THIS TIME, THEY WERE NEARLY HIT BY A TRACTOR TRAILER PULLING OUT OF THE LOCAL GROCERY STORE. THE JEEP HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT SITS RIGHT NOW. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEEMS TO THINK IT'S THE IGNITION SWITCH BUT I KNOW BETTER. I'M SEEKING A LEASE BUY OUT BY CHRYSLER AND PLAN TO SUE IF THEY DO NOT TAKE THE JEEP BACK. THIS JEEP IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE AND I WILL NOT LET IT BE MY WIFE OR CHILDREN. *TR
MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER HAS STALLED WITH ME SEVERAL TIMES. THE SCARIEST WHEN I WAS TURNING INTO A MIDDLE SCHOOL DRIVEWAY AND IT JUST SHUT OFF LEAVING ME WITHOUT ANY BRAKES OR STEERING. IT HAS ALSO STALLED SEVERAL TIMES AT THE END OF MY DRIVEWAY. BUT THE WORSE PROBLEM IS FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 4 MONTHS IT WILL NOT START. LAST TIME IT WAS A TIP FAILURE. SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE START UP MODULE. THIS WAS IN JAN. 23 08. NOW, APRIL 21, 2008 IT HAS DONE IT AGAIN. LAST TIME IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAVE CALLED A TOW TRUCK THIS TIME TOO. IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT WITH ONLY 3000 MILES TO GO. I AM WORRIED THIS PART WILL CONTINUE TO BREAK. I AM AFRAID I WILL BE ALONE AND THE CAR WILL NOT CRANK SOMEWHERE. THIS IS NOT SAFE. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO DEPEND ON YOUR VEHICLE STARTING. THE LAST TIME IT WAS REPAIRED WITH PART NUMBER 4692084-AB B;LCI NON 8015009 WHATEVER ALL THAT MEANS. IT WAS RUN WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS SINCE THAT REPAIR UNTIL TODAY. FORTUNATELY IT BROKE DOWN IN MY CARPORT. *TR
ENGINE WILL TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING, ALL POWER GOES OUT AND YOU CANNOT STEER THE CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS AND CENTER CONSOLE LIGHTS FLASHED CONTINUOUSLY, DISTRACTING THE CONTACT FROM DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TURN SIGNALS WERE ALSO DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT THE REPLACEMENT ONLY REMEDIED THE ISSUE TEMPORARILY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
POWER WINDOW SWITCH SOMETIMES FAILS TO WORK CAUSING WINDOWS TO STAY STUCK IN OPEN POSITION. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4 IN NOVEMBER 2007. SINCE BUYING IT, THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED OUT ON MY APPROXIMATELY 8 TIMES WHILE DRIVING IT. THE WHOLE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF. I CAN'T STEER IT OR DO ANYTHING. THIS COULD GET ME AND MY FAMILY KILLED. WHEN I CALLED ABOUT THE PROBLEM, THE MAN I SPOKE TO ACTED AS IF I WAS MAKING THIS UP AND TOLD ME NOTHING COULD BE DONE. *TR
2006 JEEP COMMANDER STALLING WHILE DRIVING 50-55 MILES PER HOUR, STALLING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, STALLING WHEN APPLYING BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN IN TRAFFIC..THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS I HAVE THREE CHILDREN WHO RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE. I NEED A DEPENDABLE VEHICLE AND I WILL NOT PUT MY KIDS IN THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. BOUGHT ON 3/28/08. HAD FOR ONE WEEK AND STALLED 4 TIMES. OUR 2006 JEEP COMMANDER V8 4.7L HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT LEAST 5 TIMES. 3 TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY AND TWICE ON SLOW TURNS. INITIALLY THE PROBLEM SEEMED RELATED TO THE IGNITION SWITCH. JUST A SLIGHT BRUSH AGAINST THE KEY WAS ENOUGH TO KILL THE ENGINE AND SOME OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS (SPECIFICALLY POWER ASSIST). WHILE OUT OF TOWN DURING THIS PAST CHRISTMAS THE THIRD HIGHWAY FAILURE AND FIRST SLOW TURN FAILURE OCCURRED. THE OUT OF TOWN DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH. ANOTHER SLOW TURN FAILURE OCCURRED ON MARCH 20, 2008, WHERE THE DISABLED POWER ASSIST HAD MY WIFE VEERING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WE HAD THE DEALER PICK UP THE CAR AT OUR HOME. THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT THIS WAS THE FIFTH COMMANDER HE HAD PERSONALLY SEEN WITH THIS ISSUE. THE CURRENT FIX WAS TO UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE OF THE ENGINE CONTROLLER UNIT. I ASKED FOR AND RECEIVED THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS REPAIR (CASE NUMBER K23158981, STAR ON LINE NUMBER: 18190602 0.4). THE BULLETIN DID NOT MENTION THE ROOT CAUSE FOR THIS ISSUE AND THE RECOMMENDATION ONLY STATES THAT THE ENGINE CONTROLLER SHOULD BE FLASHED. I ASKED FOR FURTHER TECHNICAL DETAILS IN HOPES OF FINDING SOME CONFIDENCE THAT THIS ISSUE HAS TRULY BEEN DIAGNOSED AND FIXED, BUT WAS TOLD THAT NO MORE INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS FAIRLY CONFIDENT THAT THE ISSUE WOULD BE RESOLVED WITH THIS FIX, BUT HE COULD NOT BE CERTAIN. FRANKLY, THAT'S JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH WITH THIS KIND OF SAFETY CONCERN. WE ARE AT 39K MILES AND OUT OF OUR WARRANTY. DEALING WITH DC'S CORPORATE OFFICE HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE AND HAVE REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY REAL ASSISTANCE. WE ARE LOOKING TO GET OUT OF THIS CAR AS WE NO LONGER HAVE CONFIDENCE IN IT'S SAFETY. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN NICE ENOUGH, BUT BEYOND TRYING TO GIVE US THE BEST DEAL POSSIBLE ON A '08 COMMANDER THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO REALLY ASSIST US IN GETTING OUT OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER, BUT NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
MY BRAKES PULSATE WHEN I PUMP THEM COMING DOWN HILLS. THE DEALERSHIP CONTINUES TO TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY BRAKES. IT IS REALLY BAD WHEN I AM COMING DOWN A MOUNTAIN AND I AM SCARED THAT THEY WILL FAIL ON ME. IT HAS HAPPENED EVERY TIME I'VE TRAVELED TO SEE MY DAUGHTER IN COLLEGE IN THE MOUNTAINS. I'VE TRIED GOING VERY SLOW AND PUMPING AS TO NOT PICK UP SPEED. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. *TR
JEEP COMMANDER SHUTS OFF POWER WHILE DRIVING CAUSING TOTAL LOSS OF POWER...ITS GONE ON AT FAST SPEEDS, SLOW SPEEDS, WHILE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENGAGED, NOT WHEN IT WAS ENGAGED, NIGHT TIME, AND DAY TIME...IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN EVERY 1,000 MILES...I AM NOW AT 36,000 MILES. *TR
2006 CHRYSLER JEEP COMMANDER---- FOR TWO YEARS NOW IT HAS AN IDLE ISSUE, CAR ACTS LIKE ITS GOING TO STALL ,RPM GAUGE FLUCTUATES WHEN THIS OCCURS, HAVE GIVEN CHRYSLER 11 OPPORTUNITIES TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, AND THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX. FILED LEMON, WAS TOLD BY THE BOARD MY VEHICLE HAS A CONDITION, HOWEVER DOES NOT QUALIFY AS A LEMON. ALSO HAS A SHUDDER IN TRANSMISSION ACCELERATING BETWEEN 30 AND 40 MPH. *TR
JEEP COMMANDER WILL COMPLETELY TURN OFF AT RANDOM TIMES WHEN DRIVING, MOST SEEM TO HAPPEN WHEN JEEP IS IDLING OR MOVING SLOW. HAS NOT HAPPENED AT TIME WERE AN ACCIDENT HAS HAPPENED, BUT HAS TURNED OF IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS SEVERAL TIMES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 62 MPH, ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHT INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THEN THE ENGINE STALLED. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE . HE THEN SHIFTED INTO DRIVE ANDTHE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. THE IDENTICAL FAILURES OCCURRED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, HOWEVER THERE WAS A BURNING ODOR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
2006 JEEP COMMANDER HAS A DESIGN FLAW IN THEIR WINDSHIELD. I HAVE 5 CHIPS ON 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND ON 03/07/08 A NEW CHIP HAS TURNED INTI 8 INCH CRACK IN FRONT OF DRIVERS VIEW. I UNDERSTAND THEIR HAS BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS TO CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS FLAW BUT DEALER SAYS CHRYSLER WILL NOT REPLACE OR FIX WINDSHIELD. DEALER ADMITTED DESIGN FLAW HAS CAUSED THIS CONTINUED PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 4X2. WHILE DRIVING 30-60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED IN TRAFFIC ONCE AND THE CONTACT BELIEVES THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE A CRASH COULD HAVE OCCURRED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER PRIOR TO RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,305 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
I OWN A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4 V8. I HAVE HAD A TON OF PROBLEMS WITH IT. IT MAKES A TERRIBLE WIND NOISE COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD, MY AC SOUNDS LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN WHEN SWITCH TO OR FROM AC, AND THE MOST DANGEROUS IS THAT MY CAR DIES WHILE TURNING ON A REGULAR BASIS. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN AND THE DEALER TELLS ME THEY CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. I AM SO ANNOYED WITH MY DEATH TRAP. I DRIVE AROUND MY 3 KIDS, MY HUSBAND, AND MYSELF. I FEAR FOR OURS LIVES BEING IN THIS CAR. IT IS UNSAFE AND WILL END UP KILLING SOMEONE ONE DAY. *TR

MY AUTOMOBILE HAS STALLED TWICE WITHIN THE LAST WEEK, USUALLY WHILE GOING UNDER 10 MPH. DURING THE STALL I LOSE CONTROL MOMENTARILY AS MY AUTO 'LURCHES,' FORWARD 1-2 FEET. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY JEEP COMMANDER SINCE LATE 2005 AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE ONE TIME, BUT IT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACE FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE IT HAS TWO MAJOR CRACKS ON THE LOWER PART OF THE WINDSHIELD BOTH GOING IN SEPARATE DIRECTIONS FROM THE LOWER CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD, AN I BELIEVE IT WAS A GOOD I HAVE WAITED TO REPLACE MY WINDSHIELD BECAUSE DRIVING INTO WORK TODAY, ANOTHER CRACK FORMED AFTER BEING HIT BY A ROCK. THIS CRACK IS ON THE DRIVING SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND IT QUICKLY SPREAD ABOUT 6 INCHES FROM THE INITIAL CRACK. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS FLAW IN THE WINDSHIELD DESIGN AND/OR CRAFTSMANSHIP ON THE WINDSHIELD (WEAK). I HAVE NOTICED ON QUITE A FEW FORUMS THIS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH MANY IF NOT ALL OWNERS, AND THIS SHOULD BE CAREFULLY REVIEWED SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHICH WILL OCCUR QUITE OFTEN IF NO PROPER SOLUTION IS FOUND! *TR
I HAVE HAD MY JEEP COMMANDER FOR TWO AND A HALF YEARS AND HAVE HAD 4 CRACKS IN MY WINDSHIELD EACH COSTING $40 TO FIX .I HAVE ALSO REPLACED MY ENTIRE WINDSHIELD BECAUSE OF A CRACK IN MY LINE OF VISION. I AM A STAY AT HOME MOM AND DO NOT SPEND HOURS ON THE FREEWAY . I DON'T BELIEVE I AM THAT UNLUCKY TO WARRANT ALL THE STRAY PROJECTILES DURING MY LIMITED HIGHWAY DRIVING OR THAT EACH ONE WOULD LEAD TO A TRIP TO AUTO GLASS REPAIR SHOP. THERE IS A 4/07 NHTSA INVESTIGATION INTO 2006-7 JEEP COMMANDERS' INTERMITTENT AND PERSISTENT ENGINE STALLING PROBLEMS - SUPPOSEDLY IN RESPONSE TO 76 COMPLAINTS. NHTSA REALLY NEEDS TO READ ITS OWN COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, WHICH CAN BE FOUND NOT ONLY IN THE COMMANDER LINE BUT ALSO IN 2005-2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET (JEEPFORUM.COM, USENET NEWS, ETC.) ABOUT JEEP VEHICLES STALLING, BESIDES THE COMMANDER. I FEAR THAT EVEN IF CHRYSLER IS FINALLY FORCED TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM UNDER THIS INVESTIGATION, THEY WILL SIMPLY POINT TO THE "2006-7 COMMANDERS" PORTION OF THE SETTLEMENT AND COMPLETELY IGNORE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM IN OTHER YEARS AND OTHER MODELS OF JEEP. THEY CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE WAVING OFF THEIR CUSTOMERS, WHO PAID FOR THEIR PRODUCTS IN GOOD FAITH, AND NOW ARE NOT BEING SUPPORTED. THEY NEED TO BE FORCED TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND RECTIFY THIS VERY WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY, BEFORE THEIR NEGLIGENCE GETS SOMEONE KILLED. UNFORTUNATELY, WE LOWLY CONSUMERS HAVE LITTLE TO NO POWER OVER A GIANT LIKE CHRYSLER. THAT IS WHY WE NEED ORGANIZATIONS LIKE THE NHTSA TO HELP US. NHTSA, PLEASE REVIEW YOUR OTHER COMPLAINTS UNDER THE JEEP BRAND AND EXPAND YOUR INVESTIGATION AS APPROPRIATE. ANYONE ELSE WITH A JEEP THAT KEEPS STALLING, PLEASE CONTINUE TO POST YOUR COMPLAINTS HERE AND ANYWHERE ELSE YOU CAN FIND. THESE STALLING PROBLEMS NEED TO BE FIXED, AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY. *TR
THE INTERIOR ELECTRICAL LIGHTING SYSTEMS OFTEN GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING IN BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES. THIS INCLUDES ALL SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, AND DASH LIGHTS FOR ALL CONTROLS. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN FEBRUARY 2007. AFTER FIVE YEARS, THE LED LIGHTS ILLUMINATING THE SWITCHES FOR THE FAN SPEED, TEMPERATURE CONTROL, AND HEATED SEATS. I REPORTED THIS UNDER WARRANTY BUT NOW I AM TOLD I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIR. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND THE ELECTRICAL FAULT. THE LED SWITCH BULBS CANNOT SIMPLY BE REPLACED AS THE ENTIRE UNIT FOR EACH CONTROL MUST BE REPLACED. THE ENGINE WAS MAKING A PINGING SOUND AND THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED IT WRONG 3 TIMES. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY WHEN FIRST REPORTED. MANY MONTHS LATER AFTER WARRANTY LAPSED THE DEALERSHIP'S CORRECTIVE FIX WAS REPLACING ONE SIDE OF THE ENGINE'S HYDRAULIC LIFTERS. THIS MADE THE PROBLEM A BIT BETTER BUT DID NOT RESOLVE IT. *TR
MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY SHUTS OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING OVER 50 MPH, THAT SCARED ME BECAUSE I LOST MY POWER STEERING AND IT WAS HARD TO CONTROL MY VEHICLE. THE OTHER THING IS THAT ONCE IT SHUTS OFF, THE VEHICLE WON'T LET YOU RESTART ON THE FLY, YOU HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTART YOUR ENGINE. THAT CAN BE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ON THE FREEWAY. *TR
2006 JEEP COMMANDER THE IGNITION KEY IS LOCATED AT KNEE HEIGHT AND PERPENDICULAR TO THE DASH. I HAVE ACCIDENTALLY TURNED OFF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING AT LEAST THREE TIMES. THIS OCCURS WHEN MOVING THE RIGHT KNEE SIDE TO SIDE. BECAUSE THE KEY IS HORIZONTALLY LOCATED IT ROTATES WITH LITTLE FORCE IF STRIKING THE DANGLING KEYS WITH THE KNEE. MY JEEP COMMANDER HAS SHUT OFF ON A FEW OCCASION IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. MOST RECENTLY IT SHUT OFF GOING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WHILE GOING DOWN A STEEP HILL. ALL GAUGES, GAS POWER, AND AIR TURNED OFF THE RADIO WAS STILL ON. IT HAPPENS INFREQUENTLY AND NOT IN CONJUNCTION WITH ANY OTHER ACTION THAT I KNOW OF. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN AN EMPTY ROAD, ABSOLUTELY NO CARS, THERE WAS A LOUD POP. AFTER A FEW SECONDS WE NOTICE THERE IS A SMALL "SPOT" ON THE BOTTOM OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD. WE DIDN'T SEE A PEBBLE NOR HEAR WHAT WOULD SOUND LIKE A PEBBLE HITTING THE WINDSHIELD. IF I LOOK CLOSELY AT THE CRACK, IT APPEARS AS IS SOMETHING IS ACTUALLY PUSHING ON IT FROM THE INSIDE. THERE IS ALSO A LOUD ROARING NOISE FROM THE WINDSHIELD ARE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. *TR
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL LOSE POWER AND THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS WILL START FLASHING. I TRY STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR TO GET IT TO GO, BUT IT DOES NOT RESPOND, THIS WILL LAST FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS OR SO THEN THE VEHICLE WILL REGAIN POWER, THE DASH LIGHTS WILL STOP FLASHING, BUT, THE ESP/BAS LIGHTS STAY ON FOR A LONGER TIME. AND THE ONE WITH THE VEHICLE AND SKID MARKS. ON ONE OCCASION THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT COMPLETELY'.AND TURNED OFF I HAD TO MANEUVER THROUGH TRAFFIC TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF ROAD TO RESTART THE ENGINE'ALTHOUGH THE 2 LIGHTS REMAINED ON THE VEHICLE DID GO. *TR THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE PCM AND THAT IT HAD TO BE REFLASHED. THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM SHE WAS EXPERIENCING. UPDATED 08/13/08

REPLACED BEZEL GEAR SELECTOR 3 TIMES SINCE 2006. AS OF SEPTEMBER 2016 A 4TH REPLACEMENT IS REQUIRED PER GOLLING CHRYSLER. VEHICLE ATTEMPTS TO STALL AFTER 1-2 SECONDS WHEN STARTING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND A SERVICE MESSAGE APPEARS STATING "SERVICE PARK ASSIST SYSTEM." SEVERAL TIMES FROM 2006 - 2016 THE VEHICLE ALMOST STALLED WHEN ENTERING INTERSECTIONS OF CITY STREETS. WHENEVER CONDITION OCCURED THE PART WAS REPLACED (3 TIMES). PART CAUSING THE CONDITIONS IS PART# CH68004143-AF PRNDL BEZEL GEAR SELECTOR AND CH52108308-AC CONNECTOR ELECTRICAL (TRANSMISSION). I BELIEVE THE GEAR SELECTOR AND TRANSMISSION TO BE DEFECTIVE DUE TO THE FREQUENT FAILURE WHICH COULD CAUSE A SAFETY INCIDENT.
AT LOW SPEEDS MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER STALLS, STEERING IS LOST AND ON INCLINES EVEN ROLLS BACKWARDS. THIS BEGAN HAPPENING IN JULY 2007 WITH APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES. IT HAS HAPPENED NO LESS THAN 20 TIMES SINCE. THE DEALERSHIP CAN NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND NO CODES ARE PRESENT TO DETECT THE ISSUE. TO RECTIFY THE STALLING, I MUST TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON. IT RESTARTS IMMEDIATELY. *TR
MY JEEP STALLS WITHOUT WARNING - LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND OTHER POWER. THIS TENDS TO HAPPEN MID-TURN AND HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE COMPLAINED TO TECHNICIANS/SERVICE MANAGERS AT DEALERSHIP, NO CORRECTIVE ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN AS THEY SAY THE "COMPUTERS DON'T INDICATE A STALL." THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE FAILURE COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS CRASH. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE REPAIR SHOP, BUT THE MECHANIC CANNOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN, RECALL NUMBER, AND MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.

THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER HOWEVER, NO REMEDY OR ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF OWN A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIANCING SHIFTING PROBLEMS WHICH PROGRESSED TO ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WHICH HAVE UNFORTUNATELY PROGRESSED TO ONE, COMPLETE ENGINE OR SYSTEM FAILURE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REROUTED THE TIMING BELTS AND THE BLOWER MOTOR. APPROXIMATELY TWO DAYS WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. ONE WEEK LATER HE HEARD THE SCREAMING NOISE AGAIN. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE SERPENTINE BELT HOWEVER TWO WEEKS LATER HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE DEALER STATED THE COMPRESSOR CAUSED THE FAILURE. AS OF JANUARY 7, 2008, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,121 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,120.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING 35-45 MPH, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP. SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE LOST ALL POWER TO ENGINE, STEERING AND ELECTRONICS(LIGHTS, GAUGES RADIO), AND A FEW TIMES I HAVE ONLY LOST POWER TO MY ELECTRONICS AND THEN THEY KICK BACK ON LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED..THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT IS WIDE SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE JEEP COMMANDER COMMUNITY, I SERIOUSLY SEE SOME LAWSUITS IN THE NEAR FUTURE DUE TO THE ACCIDENTS THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE...IM A SECOND OWNER OF MINE AND HAVE HAD IT FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS WITH NO PROBLEMS, THEN WITHIN THE LAST WEEK IT HAS DIED AT LEAST ONCE A DAY...THANK GOD IM STILL UNDER WARRANTY. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V203000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM)). IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE FUEL SYSTEM:GASOLINE DELIVERY PUMP REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
DECEMBER 2007 - MY 06 JEEP COMMANDER STARTED WITH ELECTRICAL ISSUES. EVERYTIME, I WOULD HEAR A CLICK, THAN ALL THE LIGHTS IN MY DASH GO OFF, THAN BACK ON.. SINCE THEN IT'S DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES, ALONG WITH A SMALL PUDDLE OF WATER IN MY RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE. I'VE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY'VE DONE EVERYTHING BUT LOOK OR FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY'VE REPLACE SINOIDS AND SHIFTERS (ALL UNDER WARRANTY) BUT NOTHING HAVING TO DO WITH THE ELECTRICAL. MY VEHICLE HAS NEVER STALLED, BUT LATELY THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE IS HAPPENING MORE THAN EVER. MY DEALER HAS TOLD ME THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING MORE AND TO FILE LEMON LAW ~ THIS WAS CHECKED INTO BUT BECAUSE I'M OVER MY MILEAGE I CAN'T REALLY DO MUCH. THE WORST PART ABOUT THIS WHOLE MESS IS I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE TO FEEL SAFE, AND NOW I FEEL THAT THIS IS THE WORST CAR ON THE ROAD. THE MPH RANGED FROM 4 OR 5 MPH TO 35 MPH. THERE WERE TIMES WHEN IT WAS WARM AND DAYS THAT IT WAS COLD. NOTHING SEEMED TO STANDOUT AS A POSSIBLE "TRIGGER" I TOOK CAR TO DEALER AFTER THE NOVEMBER 24TH INCIDENT. TONY IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THERE WAS REALLY NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO UNLESS IT WAS A PROBLEM THEY COULD "MAKE HAPPEN" WHEN THEY DROVE IT. I BOUGHT THE 2006 COMMANDER USED IN AUGUST OF 2007 WITH 13,000 MILES ON IT. IT RAN GREAT, NO COMPLAINTS. IN THE WINTER-TIME, I NOTICED WHEN I STARTED IT AFTER IT HAD BEEN SITTING FOR SEVERAL HOURS, THEN PUT IT IN GEAR, STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL WOULD DO NOTHING BUT REV THE ENGINE. A FEW SECONDS LATER IT WOULD KICK INTO GEAR AND GO. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID IT JUST NEEDS TIME TO WARM UP, IT'S WINTER AND THE CAR IS COLD. WHEN SPRING ROLLED AROUND THIS WAS STILL OCCURRING. ONE DAY I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A HILL, HEARD A BIG CLUNK AND THEN THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD ONLY REGISTER 3, 4 AND 5. NO 1 OR 2. I BROUGHT IT IN AND THEY REPLACED THE SOLENOID. THE PROBLEM DIDN'T COME BACK RIGHT AWAY BUT CAME BACK EVENTUALLY. I'VE HAD THE PROBLEM EVER SINCE DECEMBER OF 2007 AND ON MONDAY I'M TAKING IT IN FOR THE 4TH TIME TO DRIVE WITH YET ANOTHER TECHNICIAN SO THEY CAN GUESS AT WHAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE. PROBLEM IS, I'M AT 35,400 MILES. ONCE I HIT 36K I'M SURE THEY'LL DISCOVER THE PROBLEM AND THEN I'LL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. *TR
